I might just be cynical but it just feels so off-putting to me seeing the Walt Disney Company celebrate their 100th anniversary after all the shit they've pulled from undermining animation in favor of live-action, the way they handled the SAG-WGA strike, monopolizing IPs, tokenizing under the guise of "social justice" (then backing out when it risks box office numbers), etc.

Today’s featured Disney princess is my all-time favorite - Ariel!

Ariel was the princess and movie that introduced me to Disney. I was two years old when The Little Mermaid debuted, and I was immediately hooked (pardon the pun). I had an entire bedroom themed after The Little Mermaid, from bedding to curtains to toys.

Fun Facts: ~ When the movie was in production, then-child star Alyssa Milano was the inspiration for Ariel. ~ She has fiery red hair to differentiate her from the mermaid Madison in Splash, which was released in 1984. ~ Ariel has sung more songs than any other Disney character. ~ Ariel is the only Disney princess to have a child. In 2000, she and Eric welcomed their daughter, Melody, in the sequel movie.
