I don't remember where the discussion took place, but a few people theorized that if a program where to exit into analog space, access the system and load a snapshot, and re-digitize themselves, that could almost function as a form of cyberspace time travel.
Huh, I had never considered that. Hmm. In the context of Tron it's kind of discomforting right, the idea that technically, in a properly backed-up environment, you can always restore the system to an earlier state? It means you could essentially "save-scum" in the digital world.
I wonder -because there are logs and traces of this sort of thing normally- if this wouldn't make for an interesting Tron horror narrative. Imagine, a program that *knows* this isn't the first time certain events play out, without consciously knowing it. They find themselves knowing what people are going to say or do before they do it, their entire life becoming a giant deja vu with an ever-growing dread that something terrible is about to happen, yet they cannot fully grasp why. They mistrust their own mind, think they are going insane, while actually they retain trace memories of catastrophic runtime incidents that no one else remembers happening.
I don't know, I think it would be neat.

Farthest Frontier is one of my favorite city builders on the market rn, but the way it chooses to display information sometimes is hilarious
hate it when i go to work and catch Fractured Bone from my coworker just because tim in marketing decided to show up sick. smh.
#genuinely think Farthest Frontier is one of the only city builders doing it Right#i have played a Lot of city builders; it's my favorite genre (followed closely by photography game)#a lot of them are too punishing in the most bizarre ways#and im not talking Too Hard im talking 'if you dont plan your town Perfectly from the beginning you're Fucked'#either because resource storage is finicky or village housing is weird or because recovery from a mistake/disaster/attack is Impossible#Foundation is probably my 2nd fav but it suffers Deeply from Villager Stupid and Production Network Breakdown diseases#Kingdoms and Castles is fun but if you play with enemies on the dragon and viking raids aggressively ramp up#and if you dont stay two steps ahead and predict where they'll land you're Fucked#Fabledom doesnt have an upgrade system which is Fine but it does mean you are perpetually starting population hubs over#and i really want to like Manor Lords but every time i play it i just want it to be Farthest Frontier#i love its potential but i have not given it a fair shot#and also like. i have my critiques but i have a lot of play time on all of the above games (except manor lords)!#like i said! favorite genre!!!#but Farthest Frontier is the shining gem of what it could be#the only game that could be more perfect would be a love child of Farthest Frontier and Foundation.#i want the living paths and house building of Foundation with the everything else of Farthest Frontier

Hell yeah, I got up an hour early and went to the gym! It was surprisingly nice, doing 40mins of running on a treadmill before work. (The gym is literally 200m from my house, I do not have the least excuse)
Calorie counting on the other hand is not super great -and not just because I have dyscalculia. Like, I *know* calories are kind of a bullshit measure, and I *know* diets are typically not good for you, but like… what else can I do, buy a whole new wardrobe? Accept the rolls as a part of my natural transition into a middle-aged person? I will probably tackle my vanity in therapy eventually, until then it’s me versus the 20lbs my body packed on this year.
(I think it’s deeply unfair that I was at my skinniest last year, while I was living off energy drink and pasta, not exercising, getting 5h or less sleep per night with an insane commute, and working crunch under a boss from hell. I was so dissociated I don’t remember my own wedding but I was skinny? As it turns out, a job that treats you well, enough sleep, varied meals, and free time to enjoy yourself fucking makes you fat. It’s a horrible injustice.)

Except it is my circus unfortunately and termites are eating through the tent poles
#To sum up a work (hospital IT) meeting:#Me: hi! You’re listed here as tier 0 since you are one of the load bearing systems that needs to come back ASAP if an outage occurs. Can we#please have your disaster recovery plan?#Team lead: oh. We don’t have one.#Me: I’m sorry uh you—don’t. Have one?#Team lead: I dunno. I guess we’d have to rebuild everything from scratch if we went down#Me: from—from scratch. Okay. Uh do you have a time estimate if that did occur?#Team lead: probably at least 3 months#THE HOSPITALS DO NOT FUNCTION IF YOU ARENT UP AND RUNNING WHAT DO YOU MEAN#NO DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THREE MONTHS#Look. Look me in the eyes and tell me you understand the words coming out of your mouth right now oh my god#Sweet Jesus in heaven#You know. You know the moment in a horror video game where you turn on a light and see the Big Bad#And then immediately turn it off again#That’s what this felt like#report to disaster management and run and pray on my hands and knees that nothing comes down in the meantime
