If you ever had pastries at breakfast, drank soy milk, used soaps at home, or built yourself a nice flat-pack piece of furniture, you may have contributed to deforestation and climate change.
Every item has a price—but the cost isn’t felt only in our pockets. Hidden in that price is a complex chain of production, encompassing economic, social, and environmental relations that sustain livelihoods and, unfortunately, contribute to habitat destruction, deforestation, and the warming of our planet.
Approximately 4 billion hectares of forest around the world act as a carbon sink which, over the past two decades, has annually absorbed a net 7.6 billion metric tons of CO2. That’s the equivalent of 1.5 times the annual emissions of the US.
Conversely, a cleared forest becomes a carbon source. Many factors lead to forest clearing, but the root cause is economic. Farmers cut down the forest to expand their farms, support cattle grazing, harvest timber, mine minerals, and build infrastructure such as roads. Until that economic pressure goes away, the clearing may continue.
In 2024, however, we are going to see a big boost to global efforts to fight deforestation. New EU legislation will make it illegal to sell or export a range of commodities if they have been produced on deforested land. Sellers will need to identify exactly where their product originates, down to the geolocation of the plot. Penalties are harsh, including bans and fines of up to 4 percent of the offender's annual EU-wide turnover. As such, industry pushback has been strong, claiming that the costs are too high or the requirements are too onerous. Like many global frameworks, this initiative is being led by the EU, with other countries sure to follow, as the so-called Brussels Effect pressures ever more jurisdictions to adopt its methods.
The impact of these measures will only be as strong as the enforcement and, in 2024, we will see new ways of doing that digitally. At Farmerline (which I cofounded), for instance, we have been working on supply chain traceability for over a decade. We incentivize rule-following by making it beneficial.
When we digitize farmers and allow them and other stakeholders to track their products from soil to shelf, they also gain access to a suite of other products: the latest, most sustainable farming practices in their own language, access to flexible financing to fund climate-smart products such as drought-resistant seeds, solar irrigation systems and organic fertilizers, and the ability to earn more through international commodity markets.
Digitization helps build resilience and lasting wealth for the smallholders and helps save the environment. Another example is the World Economic Forum’s OneMap—an open-source privacy-preserving digital tool which helps governments use geospatial and farmer data to improve planning and decision making in agriculture and land. In India, the Data Empowerment Protection Architecture also provides a secure consent-based data-sharing framework to accelerate global financial inclusion.
In 2024 we will also see more food companies and food certification bodies leverage digital payment tools, like mobile money, to ensure farmers’ pay is not only direct and transparent, but also better if they comply with deforestation regulations.
The fight against deforestation will also be made easier by developments in hardware technology. New, lightweight drones from startups such as AirSeed can plant seeds, while further up, mini-satellites, such as those from Planet Labs, are taking millions of images per week, allowing governments and NGOs to track areas being deforested in near-real time. In Rwanda, researchers are using AI and the aerial footage captured by Planet Labs to calculate, monitor, and estimate the carbon stock of the entire country.
With these advances in software and hard-tech, in 2024, the global fight against deforestation will finally start to grow new shoots.

I am very grateful that Mile and Apo (most likely the Dior Team) decided to make their posts about Dior in a very uniform format with the same number posts, similar content and posted at roughly the same time. If anything was different the current flights about whether the EMV figures are legitimate would be even more unhinged. I hope it's a standard they follow for all Dior events
I saw some of the hand wringing around Apo's EMV / what qualifies and what's the cutoff and all I could do was
Tumblr media
I've already said it so I'll keep saying it: EMV is stupid. I'm proud of both of them and they're both my babies. Just like Mile's endorsement made $300-600 USD bottles of Guerlain sell out, Apo's solo endorsement will too (which is definitely in the works we know it is because he was traveling for work).
brands care about return on investment and they care about sales. obviously the marketing is one facet of sales, but investment in marketing expects a direct return on increase in sales.
for example of how fake EMV is, does anyone remember what brand Bella Hadid's viral spray on dress moment was for? Lefty.io reported the EMV of that moment to be equivalent of ~$27M USD.
Tumblr media
in vogue business, the brand's owners confessed they had never been broken more than $10M in sales and I highly doubted they did in 2022 either.
Tumblr media
so what's the value in generating more marketing equivalence in press if it doesn't directly translate to sales or make people know the name of your brand?
also because I'm not on Twitter to say this, I'm just gonna say Lefty.io should be looked at critically too. their twitter account doesn't even have 1k followers, and their twitter posts have a pattern of virality vs. no traction.
Tumblr media
they're trying to sell their product too (content / marketing strategy) and everyone loves being told their fav is important.
look at the performance of a recent tweet that for mens fashion week that highlights high traction fandoms vs. a generic tweet about Korean influencers last year
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at how well their gateway to India dior post did with and without Apo's mention
Tumblr media Tumblr media
look how well their Cannes EMV post did when they didn't highlight a fandom
Tumblr media
again, I love being told how influential and important Mile and Apo are, and while I enjoy the "unbiased" industry recognition, we're being manipulated too

★ Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to celebrate 60th birth year and 30 years of Karan Arjun with Tiger Vs Pathaan!
April 6, 2023
The YRF Spy Universe is getting bigger and bigger by the day. Pathaan, their last movie outing, shattered all records by grossing over Rs 1050 crores at the worldwide box office. The makers are aggressively sharing and confirming details about their upcoming films from the Spy Universe. Yash Raj Films is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that their universe of spy films consists of the biggest names from across the board.
Yash Raj Films Is Aggressively Working On Their Upcoming Spy Films
In the last two days, we have known that War 2 will be directed by Ayan Mukerji and will have Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR sharing screen space, apart from the fact that the film will start rolling by the end of the year. It is also confirmed that Siddharth Anand will be directing the fusion film of Pathaan and Tiger tentatively titled Tiger Vs Pathaan, where Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will be pitted against eachother. The film shall start rolling early next year. Both the spy films are to release by the end of 2025 and that's quite a big deal if you look at it because no other production house in India can boast of making integrated films at this frequency.
Tiger Vs Pathaan Is Pegged As The Biggest Upcoming Film Of Indian Cinema
Tiger Vs Pathaan is by far the biggest upcoming film of the Indian Film Industry. It includes two of the country's biggest stars, pitted against eachother. Their legacy and history makes it an unmissable movie event. By the time the film is out, there will be two other films from the spy universe that will have released, namely Tiger 3 and War 2, each of which will make the crossover film even grander than it is made to look. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will be sharing screen space for the first time in a full fledged action role after 30 years. The last time the two fought it out was during Karan Arjun, which was a historic blockbuster too, breaking all initial records and selling over 3 crore movie tickets at the ticket window. Over time, it has also developed a cult status, to the point that the crossover episode of Shah Rukh and Salman in Pathaan also had a Karan Arjun reference.
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's 60th Birth Year Will Be Graced By The Release Of Tiger Vs Pathaan
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will be celebrating their 60th birth year with Tiger Vs Pathaan. Whether it's a coincidence or not, to have the two greats come together for a full fledged actioner after 30 years, in their 60th birth year, is for the people to wonder. Whatever be the case, it sure is going to set the box office of fire with never seen before ticketing pressure.
The Indian Film Indsutry Shall Have More Crossovers, Universes And Multistarrers In The Years To Come
A project celebrating the two was long due and it is finally happening. The industry is optimistic again, after an overall dull first quarter with only a couple of films doing worth-while business theatrically. The industry is going the Hollywood way and that means we shall have more multistarrers, more crossovers and more universes in the times to come. It makes sense as well since movie-watching in theatres is expensive and the audiences need a bang for their buck, which they can get more often than not when they see more stars grace the silver screens.

Here’s Why HBO’s The Idol Deserves All The Hate It Got From The Internet

The Idol
We watch shows to escape our boring realities, at times to find solace and mostly for a dose of entertainment. We all have a preferred genre, from romance and slice-of-life to a lot of us oddly enjoy crime documentaries and thrillers. But let’s face it, the content we consume online does impact us. Now imagine coming from work and binge-watching HBO’s The Idol, directed by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, the show with layers of misogyny and an uncomfortable depiction of the ‘male gaze’. Well, I may have a different opinion (though, I hope not), but if you missed watching this show, believe me, you’re doing fine.
The Idol was released with a comprehensive storyline to shed light on the toxic work environment in the music industry. While one may expect it to move forward to show how pop stars are actually ‘created’ and promoted by sought-after music labels for their benefit, the show turns into a compilation of sleazy videos, all this in the first 15 minutes. The hype around the show is mostly contributed by the fact that it stars The Weeknd, a Canadian singer who goes by the name Abel Tesfaye, whose fans were thrilled to see him act in his first-ever show. However, it didn’t work well for the singer-turned-actor as fans took to the internet and called the show ‘cringe’ and criticised its unimpressive and poorly written plot.
The Plot And Its Plight
The protagonist, the ‘Idol’, is Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, a teenage pop star who is about to make a comeback after a public mental meltdown. However, after a personal image of Jocelyn gets leaked online, the sales of her show’s tickets get impacted, and this happens before the release of her new single. While experiencing a hard time personally and professionally, Jocelyn seeks out Tedros, played by The Weeknd, a DJ and club owner who wins her heart (eye rolls).
The Idol Lily Rose Depp GIF - The Idol Lily Rose Depp Jennie Kim - Discover & Share GIFs
While Tedros as a character is problematic, which comes through loose dialogue-writing, Jocelyn, in a typical plot, falls for the wrong guy. What seems like abuse to the audience was portrayed as love for Jocelyn. At one point, I thought Sam Levinson had taken the plot from ChatGTP!
Sexy or Sexist
If reports are to be believed, the shooting for the show began with director Amy Seimetz who was later replaced by Sam Levinson. Seimetz abruptly left the six-episode series after completing almost 80% of it, according to a shocking undercover revelation by a publication that claims that The Idol’s co-creator, The Weeknd, disapproved of the feminist eye of Seimetz.
Apart from the storyline and dialogues, the costumes given to Jocelyn further add to the sexist portrayal of the character. Mostly dressed strings and scraps of fabric, it was pushed beyond the actual necessity of the plot. We all know sex sells, but The Idol’s sex scenes are painful, sleazy, gross, and borderline abusive to watch.
A few fans also called the show ’50 Shades of Tesfaye’ because of the extreme objectification of women especially in the sex scenes of the second episode. If that grossed you out, you’d not even want to watch the fourth episode where the torture scene of Troye Sivan’s character Xander with a dog collar is haunting, to say the least. When Depp was quizzed about these scenes in particular during the promotions, she shut the discussion calling it an ‘artistic vision’.
The Acting Ache
When the cast was first announced, the internet found it was a dreamy one. But as the episodes were released, the fans and audience were proved wrong. Naturally, in a show where outrageous visuals took centre stage, performance was the least of concern for the actors. However, the audience was quick to judge, and rightly so. Depp, who comes with some acting experience, failed to impress with her acting skills, let alone The Weekend who was doing it for the first time. Let us not get started on hideous erotic dance moves and expressions.
The Idol also marks K-Pop royalty, BLACKPINK’s member Jennie’s acting debut, which we pray never should have happened. Jennie’s barely-there dialogue delivery is awkward, with no facial expression. Even her fandom couldn’t save her from this catastrophe where the makers just roped her to cash in on her popularity.
The case in point here is that it’s not the sex scenes that may make you uncomfortable, it’s the treatment. The characters are not just misogynistic and sleazy, they will make you rethink the definition of artistic vision and value. Whether or not the scenes and dialogues support the character’s journey and progression or the story or vice-versa is food for thought. For now, the show ending an episode early with no traces of renewal is the only consolation we are happy with.

What is MLM Software? Importance and Benefits
Tumblr media
Today in this article we are going to talk about MLM Software. “MLM Software” these two words confuse many people.
What is MLM Software? What are its need and benefits? This question comes to mind for many people, especially those people who want to start their own MLM company.
What is the cost of the best Mlm software and from where to buy it? The answers to these questions are also in this blog, so let's start again.
MLM is called Multi-Level Marketing, which is also known as Network Marketing or Direct Selling in the world.
Software means a computer program designed for a specific purpose. The websites and applications you use on your computer and mobile are all software.
Similarly, at present, websites and applications are also being used for MLM companies, which is called MLM Software.
The companies that make or provide MLM Software are called MLM Software Provider Companies.
Why MLM Software is necessary?
We are in the 21st century and in today's time every company makes full use of technology to handle and grow the business. Something similar is currently happening in the MLM industry.
Since thousands of members are involved in an MLM company, they cannot be handled with the help of pen-paper, hence software is used. Some software is specially made for MLM companies only, hence it is named MLM Software.
Advantages of MLM Software
MLM Software has many advantages and at present no MLM software company

Now the MLM company cannot be limited to just one state or country. In such a situation, MLM software connects the distributor and consumer to the company through the Internet, no matter where in the world they are.
Cost of MLM Software
Talking about the cost of MLM Software, it is like a car. The more features a car has, the more it costs.
Usually, the cost of MLM software ranges from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. And MLM software is also available in the market with ten-twenty thousand, but they
Practically they are of no use.
MLM software is a big one-time investment, but it gives the MLM company the strength and resources to grow. MLM Software also needs regular updates and maintenance.

Experience the future with 2022 Agri-Tech Trends
The increasing need for agricultural automation, digitization, and sustainability are being met by technological developments in agriculture. The new direction of agriculture is toward "smart farming," which means making the most use of available resources and decreasing crop losses. Emerging ideas like the IoT, computer vision, and AI are being used to create "smart farms." Drone technology along with robotics is hastening the process of automating farms by taking over labour-intensive tasks like fruit picking, weeding, and watering. The combination of GPS technology with aerial and satellite imagery yields a detailed and precisely localised map of the area.
Moreover, sensor technology used by IoT devices collects real-time field data that helps farmers make data-driven decisions. Indoor Farming as well as precision agriculture’s meteoric rise in popularity in recent years are also contributing to the industry's explosive IoT development. When added up, these technical advancements cause substantial and long-lasting shifts in farming methods for Agriculture companies in India. The focus is on reaching the ultimate objective of a sustainable future, which involves improving the quantity as well as the quality of crops generally as well as enhancing animal management.
2022 Agriculture Trends:
1.  Internet of Things (IoT):
In conventional farming, agricultural field monitoring necessitates substantial time, energy, and material investment. The IoT offers an option for these time-tested procedures. Sensors built into IoT gadgets gather information in real time and relay it to users via apps on their smartphones or other channels. These sensors can monitor a wide variety of environmental conditions, from humidity as well as soil temperature to the location of plants and livestock, and beyond. By allowing for remote farm monitoring, IoT also saves farmers time and effort.
To add to this, modern irrigation systems use IoT sensors to fully automate the process of watering crops. These include things like rain gauges, soil moisture monitors, and evapotranspiration trackers. To improve the accuracy, speed, precision of farming operations, as well as enhance the quality of agricultural produce resulting in buying and selling of Agriculture produces online in India possible, startups are creating novel sensor solutions that integrate IoT technology with drones, robotics, and computer imaging. These notify you of potential problems in a timely manner and speed up the process of fixing them.
2.  Agricultural Robotics:
Farmers suffer a severe shortage of labour, which is exacerbated by the scale of their field activities. As a result, new companies are producing agricultural robots to aid farmers in tasks such as harvesting fruit, planting seeds, and maintaining crops through the use of pesticides and herbicides. There has been a rise in the use of robotic farm equipment by farmers as a means of automating mundane, routine jobs. The use of semi-autonomous as well as autonomous tractors and other smart agricultural machinery is widespread. The auto-steer feature on today's tractors makes it much simpler to move the machine around the farm.
Robots are also utilised in automated systems specially designed for the management of livestock. Incubators, weighing scales, automatic feeders, as well as milking machines all, fall within this category. When farmers use robots, they can devote more time and energy to increasing output without being distracted by mundane tasks. In addition to making life easier, automation in these systems helps reduce the likelihood of mistakes made by humans.
3.  Artificial Intelligence (AI):
Using AI in farming gives farmers immediate feedback on the state of their fields so they can respond appropriately. In order to help farmers make better decisions, AI can provide forecasts of meteorological data, crop output, and market prices. Farmers can get advice and input ideas from chatbots. Disease and anomaly detection in plants and cattle can now be detected automatically using AI and ML systems. It's now possible to spot problems in a timely manner and take corrective action if necessary. Machine learning algorithms are also used in biotechnology to make suggestions on which genes to use.
In addition, AI makes it simple for farmers to get the money they need, even if traditional banks have turned them down for credit, by using alternative credit scoring. There are a number of ways in which AI is being used by startups to develop cutting-edge methods for enhancing agricultural productivity. AI will also help in promoting the buying and selling of Agriculture produces online in India.
4.  Drones:
It is difficult to maximise farm output while decreasing expenses. However, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or simply drones) provide a practical solution to this problem for farmers. Drones can be used to gather raw data, which can then be processed into actionable insights for agricultural monitoring. The use of camera-equipped drones helps in capturing real-time airborne images as well as surveying small and large areas. This information drives precision agriculture by allowing for the precise dosing of inputs like water, fertiliser, seeds, and pesticides.
In addition, drones make it easier to keep tabs on animals through features like geofencing and grazing monitoring. From simple visible-light shots to multispectral photography, these flights over fields provide data useful for analysing crops, soil, and fields. Drones are effective for monitoring livestock, grazing, and crop production, but they aren't suited for poultry surveillance because their movement frightens the birds. Startups are also developing drones that can analyse soil's mineral and chemical makeup, as well as the concentration of chlorophyll and the prevalence of weeds.
5.  Precision Agriculture:
The term "sustainable agriculture" refers to farming practices that don't harm the environment in any way, shape, or form. Precision agriculture, which entails managing crops and cattle in accordance with their precise locations, is one such example. To improve crop quality and output, farmers employ this technique, which involves applying measured amounts of inputs including water, herbicides, and fertilisers. Some areas of the field are flatter than others, while some receive more or less sunshine, and some have more or less of a slope. Consistently applying the same method across the entire farm is, thus, inefficient and wasteful. To combat this, a slew of innovative precision agriculture technologies are being developed by AgriTech as well as many technologically advanced Agriculture companies in India.
6.  Regenerative Agriculture:
Soil erosion and crusting are chronic problems caused by conventional farming methods. Too often, the soil isn't given enough time to recover from the previous growing season's worth of ploughing, tilling, and overgrazing. Instead, the focus of regenerative agriculture is on enhancing soil biodiversity and revitalising topsoil while causing minimal disturbance to the soil. Some of the methods used in this context include crop rotation, reduced tillage, and no-till farming. Soil fertility can be restored by planting cover crops in between harvests. In addition, through sequestration, fields can be used as carbon sinks when regenerative agriculture is practised. As a result, there will be less of an effect on global warming from human activity.

The Global Direct Selling Market Growth is anticipated to rise at a considerable rate between 2021 and 2026. In 2021, the market is seeing growth at a steady rate and with the rising adoption of strategies by key players, the market is expected to rise over the projected horizon.
But what is direct selling? It is a business model in which a company utilizes person-to-person interactions to sell products. Typically, the process involves an independent seller buying the goods from the parent company and then selling them to other individuals, sometimes recruiting them to also become independent sellers. Also, direct selling companies specialise in anything from wellness supplements and cosmetics to household items and fitness gear. Since 2015, the global retail sales from direct selling have increased from about 184 billion U.S. dollars to approximately 192 billion dollars in 2018. Direct selling companies specialising in wellness products make up a 33% share of sales in this industry, making it the largest direct selling product category (statistica.com).
Key trends
If we are to look at the leading player, the United States, the top direct selling companies are Amway, Avon, and Herbalife; each reporting revenue of at least four billion dollars in 2018. Of these three companies, Amway is the largest as it offers a broad range of products such as nutritional products, cosmetics and home goods making up the vast majority of the company's sales. The second largest company, Avon, specializes in makeup, fashion, and home goods. Avon has seen a decline in net sales since 2013, decreasing from about eight billion U.S. dollars to about five billion dollars in 2018. Herbalife primarily offers weight management and nutritional products, and reported net sales of approximately 4.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2019.
The recently-released 2020 Growth & Outlook survey by the Direct Selling Association reveals the following:
Retail Sales Remain Steady: The direct selling channel generated $35.2 billion in retail sales in 2019.
Consumer growth: Health and wellness products lead the channel in terms of size and growth with person-to-person sales as the most prevalent method of engaging with consumers.
Americans seeking entrepreneurial opportunities: There were 6.8 million direct sellers in 2019, a 9.9% increase from the prior year. 87% of direct sellers (5.9 million) are part-time.
A survey conducted in April 2020 by Digital Commerce 360 and Bizrate Insights found that 55% of online consumers said they were ordering more online than they were before the virus hit, up from 26 percent in March. And 22% said in April they were ordering a lot more online, as opposed to only 6% in the March survey, states a report on .directsellingnews.com. It goes on add that there’s evidence that much of the increase in online shopping is from those purchasing online for the first time: ClearSale analyzed April 2020 e-commerce customer data from clients in five of its major markets: the U.S., Canada, Australia, Mexico and Argentina —all countries where some form of lockdowns were in effect. The analysis showed that across all five countries, the average number of brand-new online shoppers rose by 12% between March and April.
India’s status
As far as India is concerned, last year, the country recorded the highest year-on-year growth and CAGR over three years, in the top 20 Direct Selling markets around the world. According to a joint report by IDSA and data insight firm Kantar, the Indian direct selling industry has witnessed a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of approximately 16% and grown from Rs 8,308 crore in 2015-16 to Rs Rs 13,080 crore in 2018-19. In this, wellness tops the chart of leading segments in Direct Selling followed by cosmetics and personal care. The Indian Direct Selling Industry’s contribution to the exchequer stood at around Rs 2,500 crore in 2018-19, said the IDSA report (Source: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/retail/indian-direct-selling-industry-records-usd-2-47-bn-sales-in-2019-ranks-15th-globally/articleshow/77055159.cms?from=mdr).
To conclude, direct selling is no doubt a thriving industry that continues to empower millions across the world. Given it’s several advantages and a rising interest among the marketing fraternity, the industry is most definitely on a growth curve.
