Things definitely didn't shape up as well as expected for Aditya Chopra with the Salman Khan led Tiger 3. While the content got mixed feedback from the audience, the industry is also buzzing with chatter around how a conventional Friday release would have benefited the business by pushing the film to Tiger Zinda Hai number. It's Salman Khan's fan following and the franchise value that has taken the film to a lifetime collection of around Rs. 280 crores, getting it a clean hit tag.

And now, Bollywood Hungama has got news that would create a stir in the industry and shock waves on the social media. Highly placed sources have confirmed that Aditya Chopra has delayed Tiger vs Pathaan shoot. "Tiger vs Pathaan was to start in March 2024, but Aditya Chopra has decided to personally take time to rework on the script and serve the audience with better content. Once Siddharth Anand is done with Fighter post production, Adi will sit down with his director to improve the version of what has been written," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source added that Aditya Chopra wants to put all his focus on the Tiger vs Pathaan script as the idea is to reintroduce Tiger to the audience at its ferocious best. "Tiger is the most senior spy of the YRF Universe and the idea is to present it in a way that takes audiences on a ride. Aditya Chopra knows that the expectations will be off the roof in the audience for the face off of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in Tiger vs Pathaan. There is no room for compromise and all the energies are invested to better the film," the trade source added.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan also had a discussion with Aditya Chopra recently, and conveyed his thoughts on the potential to improve the writing of Tiger vs Pathaan. "Shah Rukh considers the YRF Universe to be close to his heart as Pathaan played a role in introducing his action image. He told Adi that he stands by his side and will be ready to shoot the film whenever Adi is ready with the script. Salman is also on the same page, and hence green lit the shoot timelines for Karan Johar's film from February 2024. Shah Rukh Khan in the meantime will be shooting for The King from January."

It's a consensual decision taken by the top 3 industry giants, in an attempt to provide a world class cinematic experience to their audiences. Tiger vs Pathaan will now go on floors in 2025 and is likely to release in the year 2026.

Just a couple of weeks back, we were the first to report that Yash Raj Films is bringing a new twist to their timeline of Spy Universe before kick-starting the biggest film of Indian Cinema, Tiger v/s Pathaan, starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Right after, it became official that Shah Rukh Khan is returning as Pathaan again in Pathaan 2 with Aditya Chopra as the producer and it goes on floors by 2024 end. The report stated that Pathaan 2 will set things up for Tiger v/s Pathaan.

Our sources within the trade have confirmed that Tiger v/s Pathaan will be the 9th Film of YRF Spy Universe. “Not just Pathaan 2, even the Alia Bhatt film will lead itself to the Tiger and Pathaan conflict. Aditya Chopra will be positioning Tiger v/s Pathaan as the Spy-Venger Film of the most ambitious cinematic universe of Indian Cinema. The details of how all feature films lead to Tiger vs Pathaan in YRF Universe is kept under wraps as things stand today. Tiger vs Pathaan will begin once Pathaan 2 shoot is wrapped up,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source further informed us that Tiger v/s Pathaan will go on floors in 2026 with over 100-day schedule. “Tiger v/s Pathaan is a film that needs a lot of time and a lot of prep. Given that Aditya Chopra is bringing Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan together in a single film, he will leave no stone unturned to make it the biggest cinematic event in India. He realized that it’s not easy to pull off such a big film in a short time frame. He will be doing a pre-visualization of Tiger vs Pathaan with the YfX team and then move on to actual shooting,” the trade source shared anonymously.

While Pathaan 2 releases in 2026, Tiger v/s Pathaan will be a 2027 release in cinema halls, marking a battle royale of two of Indian Cinema’s most iconic names – Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. The pre-production work on Tiger vs Pathaan has already begun.

Chaiyya Chaiyya {SRK/Salman Khan OS}

Salman didn't plan on this but it just happened in a spur of a moment. Him being in Dubai at the same time as Shah Rukh, who is there to promote his latest film - 'Dunki'. Salman does not realise until he is on his way back to the airport and notices all the buzz of SRK around Dubai. 

"Arre bhai, woh Shah Rukh ji ki movie ki promotion chal rahi hai na, nayi wali." His assistant must've noticed his eyes taking in the view which promotes him to answer his unasked question. Then it hits him that of course, SRK would be here, for Dunki. SRK stopped promoting his movies in India and for good reason. 

"Promotion chal raha hai?"

"Haan woh aaj event hai na, abhi chal raha hoga." Salman hums at the response and ponders over it. 

"Aik kaam karo, event pe le chalo." Everyone in the car are surprised, even Shera, even though at this point he shouldn't be. 

"Bhai, aapki flight..."

"Event par le chalo." The finality in his words is enough to silence everyone in the car. The car changes direction to head towards the hotel where event is taking place. 

Salman does not have a plan, nor he knows why he is going there right now but he just feels like that he wants to be there right now. Reasons, they don't matter right now. 

Once closer to the hotel, Salman asks to be taken from the quieter route, not the press filled area. Once at the hotel entrance, Salman along with Shera and his other assistant start to go inside the hotel from the back entrance. Salman doesn't need any introduction and as it's SRK's event gate crashing doesn't seem to be an issue either especially when Salman is actually trying not to draw attention to himself.

SRK's team member spots Salman Khan and is surprised to see him there but welcomes him. Salman just says he is there to convey his wishes to the team of Dunki. He roams around upper floor and finds the spot where he can see the promotions and stage clearly without drawing attention on himself. 

He is just in time to see Shah performing his most famous dance 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'. He has seen SRK in his full energy, performing on various songs, dance steps but when he performs on Chaiyya Chaiyya, it's always a different kind of energy. 

Salman does not even notices when he holds up his phone and starts to record Shah performing on Chaiyya Chaiyya. Even at this age SRK on stage is a complete power house, his movements, his smile. his energy... no wonder he is known as King of Bollywood. The performances isn't long but it has definately left crowd wanting more. Salman stops the recording as the performance ends, not sure why he recorded in the first place.

"Bhai... green room mein chalna hai?" Shera asks him as at least 2-3 members from SRK team already asked Shera about it. Something changes in Salman's mood and he knows it's time to go.

"Nahi.. Chalo, chalte hain airport." Shera barely blinks before nodding. 

"Jaane se pehle... mujhe koi paper dena." Shera arranges for the paper and pen from the hotel and hands it to Salman. Who writes a brief note and hands it to Shera.

"Shah tak yeh puhunch jaye." Shera nods at this and immediately walks away and Salman makes his way towards the exit slowly. By the time he is by exit, Shera joins in, wordlessly they both get into the car and head towards their destination. 

It is after the promotion event ends but the night does not but SRK gets a little break when he sits in green room for few minutes of peace before gearing up for the after party. 

"Sir?" One of younger member of Dubai management team who is standing there slightly nervous.

"Hm?"

"Woh yeh.. app ke liye." She holds her hand out with a small paper in her hand. SRK looks at her confused. 

"Sir... main nahi... yeh aapke liye, Salman.. sir ne diya hai." SRK is shocked to say the least.

"Hm? Kisne?"

"Salman.. sir."

"Salman... Khan?" The girl nods and SRK is more confused. He takes the note but doesn't open it just looks at the girl for more explanation.

"Woh aye thay yahan par thori dair ke liye, keh rahe thay movie ke liye best wishes aur yeh note dekar chale gaye." taking a deep breath, SRK closes his eyes, nods his head and the girl taking the hint leaves him alone.

Opening his eyes, Shah looks at the note, still not believing what he has heard he decides to open the note. 

'Dunki ke liye bohut bohut mubarak ho, dua hai aapko aur bhi kamiyabi mile. - S' 

SRK reads and re reads the note few times until the words actually print in his mind. He is still trying to wrap his mind around the fact  Salman was here, and then he left without meeting and now this note. It's not really Salman's behaviour, well, he had his moments but very rare. This moment seems more rare. Shah's brain already hurts from the event and now even more so he just picks up his phone and calls, Salman and his phone is switched off. Sighing, Shah hangs up and looks at the note again and this time he is smiling, wide. 

As soon Salman's phone turned on again after landing in Mumbai it does not stop pinging. Salman quickly swipes through notifications when he notices messages notifications from 'Shah'. He opens those messages immediately to read. 

'What is this behaviour, Salman?' A laugh escapes from Salman's mouth. Then another message.

'Thank you.'

'I'm still mad at this.'

'Mumbai anay de, phir khabar leta hon.'

'Seriously, thank you.'

Salman smiles at these messages, it's just so Shah. He clicks on reply, types a reply but then deletes it. He does it few times until it's time for him to exit the plane, he quickly types, sends and closes his phone before he changes his mind. 

'Aaja.' Message Sent.

According to a report in Mid-Day, “The Tiger 3 star will shoot with Paaji later this week. Salman reportedly has a cameo in Sunny’s next, Safar, for which the two actors are expected to film their scenes together this Friday and Saturday at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. Salman will be playing himself in the Vishal Rana production venture.”

Produced by Echelon Productions, Safar is reportedly set for 2024 release. Meanwhile, Sunny Deol has Aamir Khan Productions’ next project Lahore 1947 which will be helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

On the other hand, Salman Khan has Dharma Productions’ next The Bull with Shershaah director Vishnu Vardhan. He also has a project in the works with Sooraj Barjatya. The actor will also star in Tiger vs Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan.

Salman Khan's triumphant return to the big screen is evident as "Tiger 3" achieves blockbuster status, crossing the impressive milestone of Rs 200 crore in global gross just three days after its release. The latest addition to YRF's Spy Universe has solidified Salman Khan's comeback, marking his 17th film to surpass the Rs 100 crore nett mark.

"Tiger 3" set records from its unconventional Sunday opening on Diwali, raking in Rs 44 crore. The film experienced remarkable growth on its second day, adding Rs 58 crore to its earnings. The total nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 146 crore. Globally, the movie has soared past Rs 220 crore, positioning it to potentially surpass the Rs 330 crore global gross of "Ek Tha Tiger" from over a decade ago, although still trailing behind "Tiger Zinda Hai," which grossed Rs 565 crore in 2017.

On its third day, "Tiger 3" reported a 33% occupancy rate for the Hindi version, while the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions had occupancy rates under 20%. The film's appeal in South Indian regions appears to be less pronounced compared to Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 hits, "Pathaan" and "Jawan," both of which crossed the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark globally. Salman Khan aims to surpass his highest-grossing film, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan," which earned over Rs 900 crore worldwide, and eventually surpass the Rs 475 global gross posted by Hrithik Roshan's "War."

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, emerged as an all-time blockbuster and became the first Hindi film to enter the Rs. 500 crores club. Besides SRK’s rocking comeback, the film was also hot due to the presence of Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, music, slick trailers, and grand scale. Lastly, the film featured a cameo by Salman Khan and it led to a frenzy in cinemas. Fans couldn’t control their excitement as they witnessed Pathaan, played by Shah Rukh, and Tiger, played by Salman, fighting the baddies. The success of Pathaan motivated Yash Raj Films (YRF) to accelerate the plans of making Tiger vs Pathaan. This ambitious film will feature Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in plum roles. Aditya Chopra and his team have locked the budget of Tiger vs Pathaan at Rs. 300 crores. This figure doesn’t include star fees as both of them have opted for profit share.”

The source further added, “This means that Tiger vs Pathaan’s cost will be more than that of Pathaan and Tiger 3. It also means that Tiger vs Pathaan will be one of the costliest films to come out of Bollywood.”

An industry insider remarked, “This figure is absolutely justified. Pathaan collected more than Rs. 1000 crores at the box office worldwide and also earned a decent moolah through the sale of television and digital rights. Tiger vs Pathaan, obviously, has all the chances of earning more than Pathaan. Moreover, Aditya Chopra and Siddharth Anand will have to scale up the action, VFX, etc and all this requires money. There’s no doubt that Tiger vs Pathaan will truly be a grand cinematic experience.”
