So based on that last ask with King Arthur is he choosing to fall in love with Gwen even if she has a high chance of falling for Lancealot? If so, it's tragic. Doomed to love another that won't fully love you back.

Does Arthur even just tell Lancenalot to get the hell put of the kingdom some loops?

I think it's more like-

You become aware of your existence somewhere around the age of 3. You were born under mysterious circumstances you don't know the details of. The first time through, you were growing up in a castle. Lately you find you are growing up among peasantry.

Maybe you have brothers. Maybe you have a sister. Maybe you're an only child. Your family is distant either way. They speak welsh. They speak latin. They speak french. They speak english with american attempts at british accents.

The first few times through, there wasn't a sword. Now it's a consistent presence - a shimmering blade stuck in a plain anvil or a large boulder, haunting your hometown or a nearby forest glade. It looks different every time, feels different in your hands. It was made for you.

There are more trials every time. In the first stories the crown was yours from birth. Lately it's been further and further away, behind more tribulations and tournaments and beasts to slay. More guidance from the ageless old man you remember from the earliest days, the welsh days. He's different every time. Everything's different every time. And still nothing changes.

The crown is yours. It's inevitable. And when the crown passes into your hands, it carries the kingdom with it. It's yours now. And it's going to thrive! You hardly need to do anything. Heroes flock to you and pledge themselves as knights, then spend the decades tearing off on wild quests and adventures, getting into the kind of trouble that serendipitously always keeps the kingdom safe. The adventures feel familiar, but never quite play out the same way. Chalices, black knights, fairy women, questing beasts. You rarely see them for yourself. You're too important, after all. You're the kingdom's beating heart.

You have a queen. You don't spend much time with her. It's jarring how much she changes every time. You hate how much it surprises you the times she genuinely loves you; you never really get to enjoy it. The kingdom doesn't run itself, even if just having you around seems to make the forests grow thick and the rivers run clear. Mostly you spend time with her when you're rescuing her from abduction. You very rarely have children together. You miss them.

It didn't used to end in fire, but lately it never ends in anything but, and you never know when it's going to start. You're never home when it starts, but you spend so much time out tending the kingdom or questing anyway. But you always learn too late - treachery. Your knight, your vassal, your bastard child, your lady love. Camelot is burning. You watch your life's work precede you into the grave.

You die. You sleep under the mountain. You dream. It's quiet.

Somewhere in the world, a writer picks up a pen, and you become aware of existence somewhere around the age of 3.

Dazai was a man of many things. He had many demons. Ones that would sometimes crawl up his back at night like a pitiful insect that could cause a shiver up one’s spine as they lay awake at night thinking of the things they could’ve done better. A perfect way to describe Dazais night as he stares at the naked ceiling with dull eyes as you sleep right next to him ever so peacefully.

He had dragons he couldn’t possibly dare to slay as they were just too undefeatable even for someone as calculating and conniving as Dazai. No matter how many plans ending in alphabetical order he tried to create, those dragons would always somehow manage to slide and slither like a snake into his mind. They were fake, the dragons of course. He convinced himself that most nights. ‘These worries will pass’ He’d tell himself, and most nights they did.

But not this time, this time it was much worse. Like a wave crashing on the shore, so did Dazai’s mental state crash as it crumbled before him like a king on his heavy throne without a protective shield to protect him from the things he hated.

It was a stressful day for you. This morning had been an absolute disaster for you as you had woken up way past your alarm and your lover was nowhere to be found. Sure, he might have just been doing his daily errands or doing whatever but for one, Dazai wasn’t quite the morning person and two, he was acting awfully..odd last night, and it was the kind of odd that you wouldn’t consider to be your lovers.

“Don’t you ever think that we..were born to die..?”

You furrow your eyebrows as you turn on your side to face your lover in the twin sized mattress you two were both quite comfortable on.

“Elaborate?” You ask.

“We as humans, live for a while, and then die..isn’t that our only purpose?”

“What, just to die? I don’t know maybe..” You answer, propping your head up with your arm, pressing your elbow into the soft material of the mattress.

“Hm..” He answers mindlessly. It was short and abrupt, but you could feel the tense aura in the room as he stared blankly up at the ceiling.

“..Something on your mind..?” You ask in a soft tone. Reaching your hand out slowly to brush some messy hairs back from his face. He always looked better with his hair off his face anyway.

He turns to you with a smile, but not one of the sweet and sunny ones, oh no. This one had sorrow.

It was such a sad smile. One of woe and pain that not even words of the finest lips could speak to convey such torment.

“Just peachy.” He replies, but you both knew that was such a lie.

“Y/N.” Kunikidas curt voice snaps you out of the reigns of your own sorrow. “You’re free to leave.”

“Huh..?”

“I understand you are not in the correct mindset to resume your work duties. So please, feel free to head home.”

Your eyes widen as you furrow your eyebrows in sympathy at the man. Were you that readable?

“Oh, Kunikida there’s no need really-“

“It’s an order.” He interrupts, not a single change in his expression as he tells you so. “It’s an order from me that you go home and take care of yourself.”

Silence fills the small work space you two find yourself in as you can only nod, standing up in the same silence as you quickly gather your things and turn to the door.

“And Y/N.” Kunikida speaks again, to which you turn your head over your shoulder to see that his expression had changed just a little bit, to one of concern.

“If you ever need to speak to someone. I’m here.”

You smile, a short but sweet one that shows you appreciate his kindness.

“Thank you.” You whisper. Kunikida returns the favour with the same short kind smile you gave him, before returning to his same demeanour and professionalism as he says one last thing.

“And tell damn Dazai to come in for his paperwork also..I’m getting worried about the bastard.”

This makes you frown as you turn to leave. Dazai hasn’t been in the whole day? Then just where the hell is he..?

You walked home with an umbrella over your head as the weather spat rain from the skies. ‘What a perfect way to capture the mood’ you thought as you looked down at your feet splashing against the wet tiles of concrete on the ground as you walked on the sidewalk.

You soon reach home after the boring walk to your apartment. You jingle the keys into the lock before walking into your ‘homey home’.

That’s when, you noticed something on the shoe rack. Shoes of the man you loved oh so dearly. Dazai was here! You can’t ignore the jump in your heart when you recognise his presence.

Given the fact that you couldn’t hear any footsteps or sounds coming from the kitchen or living room, you can only imagine that he was upstairs in the comfort of your bedroom you two shared together. You look up the staircase and began your adventure upward.

Once you head upstairs, you head towards your room, you could hear the sounds of..shuffling? which you could only assume was your lover doing whatever it was he was doing in your room. You expected something stupid, as that’s what he was normally known for doing. So you expected something of the sort.

What you didn’t expect however, was to find said lover rolling along the carpet of your bedroom floor.

But, here he was - rolling. What an odd thing to say..

Silence fills the room once he realises you’re in the room. He abruptly stops and leans up to see you.

“..Hi.”

“..Hi my love.” You say, still in a bit of shock after seeing this..delightful sight.

“..So you probably have questions..” He begins to say, looking off at the wall beside you to avoid eye contact from this awkward exchange. You only smile at him, before shaking your head.

“I do, but not related to what you’re doing.” You say, before closing the door and making your way over to him.

He snaps his head to look at you, furrowed eyebrows and a look of confusion pair well together as he looks at you with bewilderment as you stand above him, suggesting to the floor.

“May I?” He smiles at this.

“..You may.” He replies, scooting over to make room.

Your smile remains as you shimmy off your coat and place it on the bed before you sit on the floor and lay down next to him, turning your head to face him with the same kind smile.

“Are you alright?” You ask in a soft tone, the same soft tone you use with him that he loves so dearly.

“Just peachy.” He replies, and you recognise this conversation all over again.

“I know that’s a white lie.” You reply, urging to push further. Dazai hates to lie to you, but sometimes he does to protect you. But he knows now he simply can’t lie another time to you. His heart knows better.

“Just a little..” He replies, smiling mischievously as you flick his forehead playfully.

“Please talk to me.” You plea, furrowing your eyebrows in a rush of worry. He mirrors your expression as he realises just how concerned you actually are.

“I’m worried about you.”

Well, this was new. To Dazai atleast. He knew you cared and worried of course, but to hear you say such words awakened a type of emotion he didn’t have in him. It was a little punch in the stomach that made his insides churn with warmth, he didn’t know what to call it.

“..I’m sorry.” He begins with a soft tone, grabbing your hand gently and holding it to his lips as he presses a gentle, apologetic kiss to the knuckles of your hand.

“Oh, why are you apologising my love..? You mustn’t..” You whisper as you take his same hand that was holding yours and press it to your lips, now kissing his knuckles also.

A moment of silence passes before he takes a deep breath to answer. This would be a hurdle, but he knows he’ll need to jump for you.

“..I get like this sometimes.” He answers. “I get these thoughts. I like to think of them as dragons..because they’re like big and powerful. That’s what my thoughts are like.”

You nod in understanding, beckoning him to continue.

“..and sometimes they just get..too much for me to handle.”

You furrow your eyebrows in concern again, to which Dazai reaches his finger up and rubs your crease away.

“Don’t frown, you’ll get wrinkles.” He teases as a way to cheer you up from this confession. You let out a chuckle, reaching out to brush his messy hair off his face.

“You always look better with your hair off your face..” You say, to which you can see him smile. But not a sad one, oh no, this one was a genuine one. You could tell.

“I have been trying to control them, I don’t just let them haunt me.” He reassures and continues. “That’s why I’ve been away the whole day. I tried to go out for a walk early in the morning.” He shrugs.

“It’s also why I’m laying down here.” He confesses. “It..somehow relaxes me, calms me, helps me to organise my thoughts.”

You smile. “It’s unexpected, but healthy. I’m glad you’re finding better ways to cope, Samu.”

“Thanks my love.” He responds as he leans forward and kisses your forehead, to which you pull him in for a big hug, rubbing his back gently.

“..I’ve had a shit day..” You whisper.

“I’ve also had a shit day..” He whispers back.

“We’ve had a shit day.” You laugh into his shoulder, he laughs with you as he presses a kiss to your head.

He pulls away as he sits up, holding your hands to help you sit up too. You face him at the same eye level as you finally ask the dreaded question.

“..Why didn’t you tell me..?”

To this his smile slowly fades, but he smiles softly as he rubs your hands.

“To protect you, I guess. I don’t want to drag you down. Don’t want the dragons getting to you.” He jokes with the last part, to which you smile and say.

“I’ll slay dragons with you anyday.” You squeeze his hand, he squeezes back in return.

“But!” You swipe your hand away from his, to which he’s a bit taken back with.

“No lies next time. If you’re feeling down, please turn to me if you need a helping hand, okay?”

He smiles at your face, the face he loves so much. He takes your hand and presses one last kiss to your knuckles.

“No lies, only truths.” He promises, before he leans in to give you a sweet but firm kiss on the lips. “and kisses.” He smirks and gives you a cheeky wink.

“Oh wow.” You sarcastically reply, rolling your eyes as you can’t hide the smile you have on your face. “You’re adorable.”

At times like these, Dazai cherishes. He cherishes so hard that he feels that if you took his brain out he’d have memories literally ingraved inside his mushy brain of things he cherished.

You were the most kindest, selfless, and loveable human being Dazai could have ever asked for. He was so grateful for you.

Not only does he have a lover, but a friend, and also a partner he can slay dragons with any-day and night. No dragon was too big for the both of you.

Y'all already know that it's X-Men week and DN do I have a lot to say as always.

I loved the sort of understanding between Scott and Jean and having Emma come out of the rubble in her diamond Form was everything I was honestly clutching my pearls hoping that would happen.

I love how the X-Men are seeing things in a new light especially my girl Rogue. First of all I love when she said that Remy was her man like when she started going on her tangents I was loving every last second of it. She knew that Remy was her man and she wasn't even ready to except that he was gone.

I hope in the next episode we get the entire X-Men team getting new outfits. They all deserve to wear some cool new uniforms. Did I mention how I die inside every time I see Remy in the opening.

I would also like to mention that I knew Magneto was alive all along And now all we need is to have Remy back. It was also nice to see Belladonna and Remy's family I enjoyed that. I love how understanding Kurt is. He is just so in tact with his emotions and you can tell how much he loves Rogue.

When Kurt told Rogue that she helped Remy and Magneto live I literally bursted into tears especially when the rest of the X-Men arrived I was so heart broken.

I also love how Jean thought of Madelyne like a sister especially with Storm gone. That was heartbreaking too. I honestly am not gonna lie, I was pretty ticked off at Cable for getting pissed at Jean considering she is the only reason Madelyne existed in the first place but I can't get to mad at him considering the fact that Madelyne is his mother and he has every right to feel a certain way

Also, not the villains thinking that the X-Men knew that Professor X was alive like no mam they are more clueless of you in that regard.

I loved when Wolverine was worried about Morph. Like that is his best friend for real and I love that for them to be honest.

Also Wolverine understood the assignment. Of course Rogue wanted that Bitch dead he was partially responsible for king her soulmate. Like shit when she dropped him I was literally screaming Go Queen Slay! Cause let's be honest, the X-Men are beyond to nice considering all the shit they have gone through.

Jubilee being there for Roberto was also special to me because I love them so much their relationship is just so damn cute and I hope they stay together. I was disappointed to know that Roberto's parents wanted him to hide who he was but I just couldn't blame them in the slightest. Not after what happened to Genosha.

I am so excited for the next episode I still want Rogue to go batshit Crazy and she looked so beautiful with her Hair wet and to be honest, all of the X-Men did. Loved this episode so much can't wait for next week.

EPISODE 8 - THOUGHTS

I dont think this was Ryan's intention but by attempting to make Aemond seem more deranged and 'humanise' everyone else, the show has accidentally made Aemond seem the most rational on team Green LMAO. Like? Yea no like, this episode - no baby g I get you. What the fuck is going on?

Also likeeee why is he the only one making sense? Like no I think he actually was kinda justified in being really upset - obviously not to the degree of.... well uhhh.... mass murder... BUT in terms of being fed up with Alicent. No he is totally right. Alicent was the one who incited this war, she indoctrinated him and Aegon from birth to fight it, to go against Rhaenyra... and now that he is basically going up against like seven other dragons, he has NO choice but ask Helaena to fight because??? What else is he going to do? Sit around and die? And Alicent is just lowkey like "oh well there is another way" and it's like well... no the fuck there isn't girl. And you know what? Even though I get why Helaena refuses, Aemond DOES also have a point that - from his perspective, she has to take action as Queen and show a united front. He is basically fighting the war alone. So like? Girl I'd be mad as hell too if my sister had a big ass dragon and she refused to help. He definitely could have gone about it a different way, like uh... not assaulting her. But in principle he was fully justified in asking her. I mean look if it were me I'd be ready to SUIT UP AND SAY SIR YES SIR. but I'm a slut for the man so....

I think accidentally the show has become less tragic now that they continue to centre the show as Rhaenyra and Alicent's story over Rhaenyra and her siblings. I don't really want to see Alicent remorseful yet because... that's going to take away from her story overall and her arc when the dance is finally done? It was tragic in the books when Alicent's final wish was to be able to see her sons and daughter again. Like... I just... I mean okay hbo.

Criston Cole ate this episode. I loved his speech, I thought that whole scene was perfect. And honestly? Yes slay, finally he is cooking because I wanna die too rn King.

Helaena... I'm not sure what the fuck is going on with her and Daemon? I avoided those leaks and yea... that was weird as hell. Like even his face was like? What the fuck are YOU doing here? We've really spent no time developing her powers at all... and it's irritating to me. Because why would she be connected to the weirwood? Is this purely for the fact that she'll haunt Aemond once he gets to Harrenhal? Or.... was that just something fun to throw in there?

The CGI on the white walkers was.... I mean... clearly all the budget been going to the Velaryons wigs cause they have been EATING it up.

Aegon... I miss him for some fucking reason. But weird mention of his dick being chopped off.

Daeron yea yea I know everyone is quaking but it doesn't really matter since? I mean... this is unpopular opinion - but I'd rather he be cut then bring him in and have him be super irrelevant and take up precious screentime.

The pirate shit was fun, but three whole scenes? Again? THREE ENTIRE SCENES... when we still need to wrap up major plot points? Couldn't that have been achieved in two scenes?

Allyn ate Coryls up and I'm glad about it. That's what you get for being a deadbeat dad and cheating on your wife.

Love Addam, whom also ate Ulf up. I absolutely am pro Addam atm.

Baela being useless again.... which disappoints me... but at least she got another scene with Jace, instead of giving her an arc that explores the complexities of her relationship with Daemon.

And well...... Simon? His ass is cute and quaint.

Anyway, a part of me is lowkey excited to see Aemond fuck shit up. I honestly. I know I talk about what a shit bitch he is but, girl I LOVE HIM. Like LMAOOOO his ass so crazy and mad and as the youngest sibling myself, I lowkey get why he is so fucked off with his useless ass family. I don't blame him at this point because if my mother did that shit to me after priming me for 18 to go to war and now she is basically like 'oh no I'd rather go skip in the fields' girl.... it would be on sight.

That being said this was a solid episode with some beautiful moments. And as always 99% of the actors were incredible, the score and the cinematography was unbelievable. And if this were episode 8 out of 10 I would be UNBELIEVABLY excited. But because it's the finale... I feel a tad underwhelmed.

I am going to go back and rewatch this season to check in and see how it flows. But yea, it is missing that magic season 1 had. I'm not sure what it is.

Main characters:

Rhys- He is a desperate man. As a child, he was desperate for his parents' attention, desperate to fit in, desperate to step out of his older brother's impossible shadow. At eighteen, with his life burning around him, Rhys was desperate for every breath he barely drew in. Now, years later, Rhys is desperate for a life he can't possibly earn.

Adam- Like everyone else who has one, Adam never asked for his ability. He never asked for this thing that would dictate his life. Some people consider abilities to be gifts; they believe an ability is a manifestation of a person's purpose. His parents fell into this group, and without abilities of their own, they focused all their attention on Adam and his ability. Adam pursued a degree in nursing because of them, despite how miserable it made him.

Leanne- princess of Castanum. For the last two years she has lived in an abandoned castle with the dragon who took her from her kingdom.

Adalina- one of the most skilled knights of Bershar, sent with her prince on a mission to rescue the princess. She is torn between her loyalty to her kingdom—along with the hefty prize that is to be given to her family—and her promise to serve dragonkind.

Roque- prince of Bershar. He puts his duty to his kingdom above all; anything he can do to better the lives of his people, he will do in a heartbeat, regardless of what it might cost him.

What would you do for a second chance at life?

For a lucky few living in Aatia, a second chance at life is very literal. Many die in unfortunate circumstances, long before their time. The goddess Aatia, selects those strong enough to serve her and sends them back to her land with special gifts. Their sole purpose is to protect the people who carry her magic and to assist them in the war against Aatia's brother-country, and the goddess's twin, Botslov. When the war is won, Aatia promises to grant these Guardians a true second chance at their lives, a free life that many of them never would have had a shot at in even their original lives.

Main Characters:

Alex- a college student working towards a degree in Guardian Sciences. She won a contest at school and had the opportunity to get a Guardian of her own- an incredible prize for someone as fascinated by Guardians as she is. Her plan was always to continue studying, but Alex gets pulled into the war when she gets her Guardian.

Lucio- Alex's best friend/roommate, a Magus fighting in the Twins' War, and the son of a heroic general. He is shaping up to be one of the most powerful water Magi of his generation.

Katzyr- the red-winged Guardian of Lucio. Katzyr and Lucio have a bit of a strange contract because Katzyr comes and goes as he pleases- though he is always there when Lucio needs him. In his previous life, Katzyr was trained as an assassin in the Betrayer's city. He only recently died, and Lucio is his first assignment.

Orion- Alex's Guardian. He is a mystery to all of Magi and Guardian society. As a recycled Guardian, Orion should have memories of both his original life as well as his previous assignments. He appears before Alex with no knowledge of who he is or of what it means to be a Guardian.

There are always so many stories rattling around in my brain, but those are the ones I'm trying to focus on.

so, after having a little break and seeing the last two episodes in pretty quick succession of each other, i will have to say that overall i thought they were fair to middling, sometimes decent, sometimes with abysmal plot choices, alternating with nuggets of greatness (welcome back, alyssa targaryen).

i don't think they are going to solve my fundamental problem with this adaptation, in that, with my specific narrative preferences, i just find myself uninspired when presented with a heroic framing vs a villain-adjacent one. this dynamic remains too simplistic for me to be super enjoying the writing. i just find myself weighing out these interactions and coming off dissatisfied.

i'm turning into a broken record, but it's disappointing to see how they just always seem to lean towards showing the greens as supremely disconnected, cynical and cold to each other, disassociated from any kind of positive emotion or bond, except for a couple of very brief, very rare moments (eg. aegon/jaehaerys). i am a little surprised at the reviews suggesting that the blacks stagnate in their boring ways, because, to me, the writing for tb has improved massively since last season. if the children were borderline NPCs in season 1, i thought they did a pretty decent job in fleshing them out this time, making effective use of limited screen time.

jace, baela and rhaena get to be frustrated with their family, confused, struggling, but also get scenes of genuine connection, they seem to like each other, they look like an actual team. people who could fight for each other and who have kinship even if they don't have perfect relationships.

that being said, i was appalled at how they completely reversed the corlys-baela dynamic (that man did everything in his power to prevent baela from inheriting) and had baela say with her own mouth that she wasn't suited to be the heir to driftmark. i maintain that baela & rhaena should have developed resentment for being cheated by rhaenyra (and corlys!) out of their inheritance and will probably die on this hill. they tried doing this a little with rhaenys by highlighting this point of conflict with her husband, but to have baela outright refuse driftmark is nuts. a targaryen dragonrider can't hold a keep of her own? on what grounds? is dragonstone not also an island surrounded by salt water and boats and sailors? rhaena has this storyline of feeling useless and sidelined by her family because she doesn't have a dragon, yet being overlooked for driftmark doesn't make her feel any kind of way?

imo that remains a huge weak point in how they're writing the girls, but at the very least i can appreciate that they are trying to forge a sense of connection between these people, because they still have to explain how they didn't betray each other and go on their merry way. human relationships can be complicated and sometimes the ones you love the most hurt you and disappoint you the most, so there maybe even is a believable story here.

a story that could very well also be applied to the greens, but they are just almost invariably made to act so frigid with one another. it would be something else if it were just one or two characters, but all of them? all the time? while the other side get to be friendly and affectionate? even rhaenyra and mysaria get scenes of sincere camaraderie. whereas whatever the greens get, it's always in this somber negative light. the non-canon additions overwhelmingly carry this nefarious vibe: aemond tries to kill aegon (not canon), aegon is too dumb to speak high valyrian (not canon), killing the ratcatchers is suddenly so upsetting it can damage the war effort (not canon),* the smallfolk are eager to rebel in king's landing (not canon), alicent actively opposes and is distressed at aemond becoming regent (not canon), the smallfolk think slaying meleys (who killed a lot of innocent people during her escape) is an ill-omen (what the hell?), even the not-canon alicole can't just be sexy, it has to be frostily tinged somehow with the guilt of child murder. compare that with the non-canon addition of rhaenyra and jace working together to organize the dragonseeds or the messianic speech she gives him about how he has to pass on aegon's prophecy.

*they even have AEMOND, who, by then, has committed kinslaying twice and has one attempted regicide under his belt, comment on how, yes, the ratcatchers should be absolutely taken down because it is bad form.🤦‍♀️

it would be something else entirely if the greens were in a stand-alone story and this was the characterisation given to them. we would be having a completely different conversation about dysfunctional family relationships. but they are presented IN COMPARISON to another side and thus you cannot analyse them in a vacuum and it is impossible to escape this comparative approach or pretend that it doesn't directly invite the viewer to a pre-determined conclusion.

(even cersei & tyrion or tyrion & tywin had moments when they were just chilling and not at each other's throats)

likewise, they make every decision taken by the greens range from bad to catastrophic. name one thing that otto, alicent, criston, aemond or aegon get to do that the writers chose to paint in a positive light. one success. it's alicent wanting peace because she feels sorry for rhaenyra. meanwhile, tb has ONE character that acts out and on whom everything unsavory can be pinned: daemon. everything unappealing about rhaenyra's war effort can be traced back to daemon. everyone else in her camp is just so earnestly engaged in harm-reduction.

i'm not even getting into how AEGON of all people is the least developed dragonrider in the show, he who was supposed to have the best and purest bond with his dragon🤦‍♀️meanwhile we've seen how many shots of caraxes and syrax by now? even MOONDANCER. i'm sorry, guys, but baela rode her ass just THEE ONE TIME. for fuck's sake. even rhaena is going to have more flying time than aegon by the end of this show.

the way i can explain my dissatisfaction better is like. imagine succession (yes, it always comes back to this, doesn't it). only that, alongside the dysfunctional roys and their hot mess of a family and questionable (atrocious) morals, you would simultaneously be presented with, say, the old-money pierces. only THEY get to be a quirky bunch of honest-to-god people just tryna do their gosh darn best in this wacky late stage capitalism. unironically. maybe they have a couple of flaws, maybe they even fight sometimes and say things they regret, maybe they have an old crazy un-woke uncle that they try to keep under wraps (hey! nobody's perfect!). but with little to no commentary on their misdeeds and heroic framing compared to the roys. also completely ignoring that they, too, have a corruptible media empire of their own. it would be much worse as a show, no?

I wanted to add some other elements of other monsters in it paralleling how in the og game the more voices you get each chapter. Like the betrothed will have some elements from the cold since that’s who you get if you kill the princess in the og game. Also some other additional stuff like extra eyes to look extra biblically accurate and because it’s hard to make a monster look more monster with each chapter so I’m doubling down on stuff like limbs and eyes so it looks kind of like there’s more than one in there

The voices for the third chapters like you saw with the witch in the current route the princess voices are also going to be swapped around to fit the personalities more.

Astrology is fake but in honor of the beginning of Leo Season, I want to revist this "Stede Bonnet is a Leo king" meta I wrote a year ago almost to the day. Because of course it was written before season 2, but season 2 only underlined my previous points.

Season 2 Stede doesn't have any of the trappings of his old life that would make his Leo status seem obvious anymore. His fancy clothes are at the bottom of the sea, his hair is still great but clearly not as sculpted as it was before, and his beautiful, luxurious, good vibes ship has been stripped of its finery (and its freedom). But he's still a fucking Leo, dammit, and he still acts like it.

I should start with a reminder that I'm a Leo, and anything that associates Stede Bonnet's positive traits feels a little self-aggrandizing, but also as a Leo I'm comfortable practicing radical acceptance about it. Which is all to preface the first season 2 Stede trait I wanted to bring up: Leos can be some of the most romantic fuckers alive.

In the old meta I talk about Stede's generosity of spirit and desire for the people around him to be happy. That coupled with his sunny optimism and the irrepressible way that he loves what he loves (once he figures out that it's love) was always gonna put him at DEFCON 1 levels of romantic hero behavior.

Ed fell in love with him when he wasn't even trying, so of course a Stede who is trying is gonna be writing love letters in bottles and throwing them into the sea DAILY. Of course he was gonna fill the maps he drew on the back of Ed's wanted posters with sketches of his beloved's face and little lines of poetry and manifest good energy by circling "alive" and crossing out "dead". Of course he was gonna say "I love your chin" and "I love everything about you", two of the most heartstoppingly romantic statements I've ever heard (and objectively what Ed needed to hear at the time).

His leadership skills also develop further, and in ways that seem relevant to that Leo meta. He's radically kind, even to the people who it looks like killed the only man he's ever loved, including a certain angry little nightmare creature who tried to get him killed multiple times. In that unimaginable moment he said no, I'm going to save these people because they're my crew, and then plans and leads them through a truly effective escape strategy.

(His other plan, the one in the finale, goes off without a hitch except for Izzy getting shot. But. Izzy should have searched the hostage right? Just trying to get ahead of that argument against Stede's leadership skills.)

Thankfully Ed survives, and they have that "be the captain" scene which is at its heart about performance, another thing theatrically inclined Leos excel at. Stede goes on to perform the role of acolyte to make Izzy feel included and like a mentor. And I will die on this hill but it is a performance, something Stede knows going into it. Stede never needs to learn the old way of piracy and specifically thrives in the absence of it.

(I also 100% believe both that Stede was telling a truth when he told Izzy he had no memory of their duel and also that he knew that saying he didn't remember was the bitchiest thing to do, and so did it for his own amusement. It's like how light can be measured as both a particle and a wave, okay?)

I won't rehash everything I said in the old meta about his generosity as a Leo trait, but I did want to point out something that occurred to me. Unless I'm misremembering, the crew has gotten new outfits by the first time we see them in s2e4, but we don't see Stede in something new until he finds the red suit (which of course he adores and absolutely slays in). Costume changes are always heavily symbolic on this show, but I feel like the simple fact of the crew getting improved clothes before Stede does (the red suit that he discards for their sake, and his slutty look for Calypso's Birthday) also means something.

The things we adore about Stede Bonnet have a lot of overlap with traits and behaviors that are associated with Leos, and I continue to suspect that despite astrology being fake, there was at least one Astrology Gay in the writers room who was at least aware of the vibes. And in honor of Leo Season, may we all go out there and try to be kinder, braver, and more loving. May we all think about the spaces we're in and try to make them a little freer. May we all try our best to go out and spread a little sunshine in the world that so desperately needs it.

Here's some bits from A Million Dead and I?, wherein Finarfin sits in a garden for a few thousand years.

High King Arafinwë of the Noldor returned in triumph to Valinor, with his enemy humbled and cast into nonexistence, with scattered handfuls of the haggard and homeless elves of Beleriand-that-was looking for new homes in the West, with none of the family he thought to save. For many days he mourned with High Admiral Eärwen his wife, together remembering the sunken lands their sons had died for. At last he arose, and went to his councilors, and together finalized the plans he had proposed half a century prior, upon the eve of the long-awaited War. And when all the pronouncements had been published and the criers left their squares, Arafinwë laid the sceptre of his father upon the High Council’s table, placed the crowned helm Celebrimbor had forged for him upon his father’s throne, and departed from Tirion alone.

Arafinwë learns several things in the first few decades of vigil outside the Doors of Mandos. First: one cannot properly cry as a houseless spirit. “Oh Pianyellë, Pianyellë! I’m so sorry, I was so tired, I thought I could just lie down for a moment…” Second: robes which dry quickly are a necessity. “They never came back from a hunt, and I…I just didn’t see a reason to keep walking without them.” Third: the Grinding Ice was not only worse than he imagined, it was worse than he can imagine. “It…there were no Powers. There was no light. No judgement. He was dead, we’d already handed out his furs. I thought, I thought. He wasn’t using the rest anymore either, was he?” Fourth: his would not always be a welcome face. “You LEFT us, uncle. Left us to die, left us to ruin! It should’ve been you, down there, f-forced to watch as we fell. It sh–it shou…I should’ve been there! Atya, atya! If–if I was there, would…?”

I died at Alqualondë. Was trying to herd some Teler children away from the docks, get them somewhere safe. A sailor saw us, thought I was trying to kidnap them, ran me through. Can’t really blame him. I never had the chance to slay anyone, but…I knew I was going back to the docks as soon as the kids were out of the way. It…it took me a long while to grapple with that. I met the sailor, you know, back in there. Cleared the air between us. We looked for the kids, in the Halls and the tapestries. None of ‘em were there; they all lived! That…that felt pretty good, you know? I still did something, still had my little phrase in the Song.

I tried taking on a bear larger than I should have, and that was that. But the other hunters finished it off, and my furs weren’t too rent to still be useful. Sure, my once-betrothed’s been married to another man for two centuries now, but with the way we separated, he probably wouldn’t’ve had me back anyways. So no, I don’t regret it.

REO is the king's son, well known for his carefree nonchalance, how he insists on gallivanting around the countryside looking for dragons and leaves the boring bureaucracy in the hands of his court, under supervision of his representative Anri.

It's on one of those expeditions he and his retinue stop by your humble town. He leaps off his horse with much fanfare and makes his way toward you, near the well at the center of the square, and asks how much it would cost for your bucket, to water their animals. When you insist that it wouldn't be proper for you to charge the prince anything, he laughs and says he'll pay you in kisses instead.

Later, he has you stay for a meal and dancing at the inn, holding your hand and hardly letting you out of his sight. What can you say but yes when he invites you back to court with him? Don't worry about traditions or those stuffy clothes and etiquette rules, there's nobody who outranks him.

NAGI as Reo's friend, a son of a noble house who wants nothing more than to while away his days in a quiet country estate. But after Reo saw his skill at swordplay, he's dragged along in a clatter of hooves and plate armor to seek out and slay mythical fire breathing beasts.

He's glad they're staying in a town tonight instead of camping again, because the ground is hard and it looks too close to rain for his taste. Reo rents out the local inn and he was going to take a hot bath and ask for dinner to be brought to him, but for some reason, Reo insists he eat with the rest of the group and they do some drills for spectators to watch.

Nagi isn't sure why Reo is so stubborn, but after he sees you in the crowd, watching the purple-haired and blue-blooded fighter, he understands why. What he doesn't get is the dark, twisted feeling in his chest when you gasp at Reo and gloss over him.

ZANTETSU is the rear guard. As the last to enter the town, he's more focused on keeping children from grabbing his horse's tail then whatever Reo is doing up front, but he eventually gets impatient and dismounts to investigate.

Seeing you there, he claps a hand on your shoulder from behind and is about to begin issuing a scolding for blocking the well when you turn around and words die in his throat. See, he's always believed those fairy tales of shining knight and their beautiful royal lover.

While he's lost in his daydream, he doesn't realize you are about to pass out, frightened by his serious face and intimidating demeanor. Reo brushes his hand off and laughs, snapping him into a huff, and he spends the rest of the evening trying to subtly signal that he knows of your supposed aristocratic origins.

You, meanwhile, are perfectly confused and uncertain if this man is incredibly intelligent or dumb as rocks.

NARUHAYA, the baker's son who's known you as long as you've lived here. When you're not back from getting water for a long time, he steps out and realizes who's been monopolizing your attention.

Holding a loaf twice as fine as anything he could ever dream of eating, there's only despair in the pit of his stomach as he watches Reo spin you around and laugh as he dances. The crowd cheers louder when the prince announces he's footing the bill for all drinks, but even a mug of good ale doesn't cheer him up.

Surrounded by chattering patrons and the knights he always dreamed of becoming when growing up, he can feel one last fantasy slip out of his grasp. He doesn't stand a chance against the prince in any competition, let alone one for your hand.

Quietly, he abandons his drink and slips off into the shadows, returning home. The next day, when his little siblings can't stop talking about the parade riding out of town, the only thing he asks is if you looked happy.

ISAGI you knew of when you were younger. In fact, it was his suggestion that brought Prince Reo to your town. He grew up on a farm and used to visit once or twice a year for the big markets, and left to become a squire years ago.

For a few months, it was all anyone could talk about, that boy who went to the capital to become a knight. When you find this out, he laughs it off sheepishly as not a huge deal and changes the topic.

Secretly, he's proud that you remember him and hopes he might be able to convince Reo to stay a few days longer than planned under the guise of visiting his parents. Little does he know that Reo already has big plans for you.

BACHIRA slides next to Isagi and jumps right into conversing with you. Sorry he's late, he had to make sure his horse was stabled correctly! She hates being cold, he sighs, and pulls an apple from his pocket. There was a tree out back, do you want one?

You gasp—the innkeeper is incredibly territorial over his apples, guarding them like gold against wasps and children alike. He just laughs and takes a crisp bite, then offers the fruit to you. You look adorable with cheeks stuffed and juice running down your chin—let him wipe it off for you.

Bachira winks and takes his apple back: "I want the seeds!" Really, though, he just wants to share some food with you. Isn't it a little bit of an indirect kiss?

YUKIMIYA finds you outside under the eaves when Reo's lost you. He stands next to you and watches the rain fall, as the overcast sky has finally opened up. You just needed a break from the noise and stuffiness indoors, you explain.

He offers to keep you company and you settle into a content silence together. He finds his thoughts wandering, first thinking about how his own home would look with someone like you there to welcome him back after a long day's ride, then about his future family.

He doesn't have Reo's status or Bachira's flirtatiousness, but would you humor this humble knight and let him linger a little longer?

CHIGIRI isn’t a knight, but a messenger Reo brought along just in case. His job is easy, really, just riding around with the company all day because the prince rarely has need to send orders back.

He’s the first to know that Reo intends to bring you to court when the prince pulls him aside and quietly orders him to ride back and commission an entire wardrobe for you, posthaste. Galloping alone in the middle of the night, all he can wonder is how you’d look decked out in his scarlet instead of Reo’s colors.

Well, the prince didn’t give him any specifics on your garb, so maybe he can sneak one piece of red in. He groans quietly to himself, regretting his injury that prevented him from becoming a knight–he’s never minded until his time with you was cut short.

ARYU is the tailor you meet after Reo sweeps you back to his castle. He brings out a parade of silk and brocade, each garment more dazzling than the last. Unfortunately, he insists on you trying each one on so he can properly fit it, which leads to a long and tiring day.

Reo is well aware that Aryu’s the best out there and can do nothing but watch as his hands linger on your waist for a tad too long. Unbeknownst to you, Aryu spends many a late night scribbling by candlelight, dreaming up design after design for your wedding attire. He knows he’s got a snowball’s chance in hell compared to the prince, but he can dream… and also repurpose these in different colors for your everyday use.

It’s a secret he’ll never tell anyone, but he does get a lot of compliments on his latest batch of designs.

TOKIMITSU finds you in the garden after you leave to try and get some peace. Nobody knows the stresses of life in high court better than him, he explains, offering you an early sprig of hyacinths from his carefully maintained greenhouse.

The next morning, you wake up to a hanging basket with tendrils of sweet-smelling jasmine and zinnias. The handwritten card welcomes you to court and asks you to accept this small gift as congratulations–Reo doesn’t have the heart to say no when you’re so taken with the blooms that mean “sweet love” and “thoughts of absent friends.”

Tokimitsu frets for days before he next sees you, upon which you immediately thank him for the gift. Phew, you knew it was him and haven’t caught on to the hidden message yet.

NANASE meets you when you get hungry and wander off to find the kitchen. It’s still far too early for anyone to be awake, especially since the long journey back all of yesterday, but you couldn’t sleep in the huge bed no matter how much softer it is than your mattress at home.

Nanase has his back turned, busy coaxing the fire in the kitchen back to life when you creep in and cough to get his attention. After calming down and realizing you are not a ghost, he offers to share his breakfast with you. You end up sneaking a few bites of the leftovers from the larder and talking with him, finding out that he enjoys keeping a flock of chickens and came here a few months ago to earn money.

He sneaks you out of the kitchen once more of the servants arrive and makes you promise to come visit again when you’re free, unaware that Reo means to have you added to his court soon.

NIKO finds you when you get lost in the lower levels. As an undercover member of the Royal Guard, he all but drags you back to your rooms lecturing you about how to find your way, and promises to have a map delivered soon. He’s flustered when you laugh and compliment his knowledge, does he know of any secret passages?

Well, he reasons with himself, you probably should know about those because you and Reo are so… close. (He ignores the jealous twist that comes with remembering that, he’s been ignored as part of his job for so long that you’d think he’d be used to it by now.)

If he turns the lamp’s wick down on purpose so he has an excuse to hold your hand in the dark passages built into the walls, then no one needs to know.

KAISER is the heir from the nearby land of Munchen, here for a diplomatic negotiation that Reo completely forgot. At the end of your first week in the palace, he asks you to dance, butting in front of Reo to do so and taking your hand before you can blink.

As you spin on the polished floor, he leans in and whispers something in your ear that you can’t quite catch. He laughs and leads you off the floor to a sulking Reo. While Kaiser’s admirers gossip behind their fans and send you scathing glares, you try to conceal the note he slipped under the ruffle of your sleeve.

You slip out for a breath of air later, when Reo has released you from his iron grip, and meet up with Kaiser in the gardens. Besides the moonlit pon, he clips two blue roses and tucks one in your hair, the other gets tucked in his jacket.

He sends you a bouquet of them the day he and his company leave, inviting you to come visit whenever you desire.

NESS is part of Kaiser’s delegation, always staring at you and Kaiser together. When Reo and Kaiser are both needed in some meeting about trade routes, he’s left to have tea with you, alone.

You think he must hate you because he’s always glaring, but he just assumes this feeling must be your fault and places the blame squarely on your shoulders. Whatever methods you used to ensnare Kaiser won’t work on him, he lectures, getting so heated he only stops when he knocks your teacup out of your hand and spills the hot liquid all over your lap. He doesn’t care about you, really, him mopping it up is because he’s a gentleman, unlike you, and underhanded tactics are beneath him (they aren’t, but he says they are).

Mark his words, he’ll figure out what you’re up to before long, and Kaiser will acknowledge him again. He tosses his soiled handkerchief on the table and storms out, leaving you confused and with a handkerchief to return.

KUON is part of a faction secretly plotting to overthrow Reo and install a new government. Kuon hates the aristocracy, thinks they’re all a bunch of stuck up pigs out of touch with common people, but when he meets you, he starts to rethink.

He tries to reason that it’s because you’re not really a noble, you were raised by ordinary people just like him, but he can’t deny it. He begins thinking of ways to let you escape when the revolution happens, maybe spirit you away somewhere safe where it’s just the two of you and you can start over again.

But when the signal is given before he’s ready, he can’t stop ugly desperation from coursing through him, tearing him away from his assigned post despite the shouts of his accomplices. When he finds Reo holding you (thankfully unhurt) while a hastily bandaged Niko struggles to unlock the door to an escape passage with fingers slippery from blood, Nagi draws his sword and steps forward.

As long as he lives, Kuon doesn’t think he’ll be able to forget the shock of betrayal on your face when you see him in the colors of the uprising.

BAROU leads a contingent of knights and is probably the only person who can win against three insurgents with a ceremonial smallsword and no armor whatsoever. He bursts into the royal chambers, decimates another small squad with the weapons he gathered from the first three, and breaks down the door to the escape.

He insists on remaining behind, saying he’ll escape later, and hauls a bookshelf in front of the broken panel. The last you see of him is his broad back, radiating comfort and confidence that someone so strong is looking after you.

Barou will never tell anyone this, but he thought of you after he was overwhelmed and captured, eventually gathering the strength to escape and reunite with you later on.

HIYORI is the safehouse keeper. He opens the door and lets your group topple in, out of the freezing rain, and immediately begins handing out towels and bowls of hot soup. His cottage is well hidden in the forest outside the palace, so he, Reo, and a few more knights sit down to pore over maps and discuss escape routes, leaving you to drink your soup and doze off.

A while later, he wakes you with a gentle shake and offers a change of clothes into something more practical. It turns out that everything else is already taken by the rest, so he fishes out some of his own clothes, including his best wool cloak. When you protest and say you couldn’t possibly dream of taking it away from him, he laughs and says he’s coming with you.

He’s served his purpose here and the rebels will find this place eventually and realize what happened, so it’s not safe to stay behind. You flee through the forest, quietly comforted by each other’s presence.

KURONA gets busy rebandaging Niko’s wound and applying a salve to stop bleeding and infection before he gets around to the rest of you. When he’s finished, he sits next to you on the chest in the corner of the room (the chairs have all been commandeered by those in the strategy meeting) and lets you doze off on his shoulder.

When you’re on the run, he sits next to you and makes shadow puppets so you smile. Every so often when there’s a river near wherever you’re camping for the night, he always cuts himself a fishing rod and sits on the bank.

You’re the only one allowed to join him for some comfortable silence, because everyone else is “too noisy” and scares all the fish away. Really, he just wants to spend some time with you braiding strips of grass together and nobody else to bother you two.

SHIDOU nearly gets stabbed by Yukimiya, who’s got that night’s first watch. Anri wants to pack up and leave, saying he’s dangerous, but he explains that Sae Itoshi has sent him after hearing about the rebellion in the capital.

The Itoshi duchy is still untouched by the insurgents, partially because of its notoriously impenetrable mountain roads and cold seas. This late into fall, travel to and fro slows to a trickle, but Shidou promises that he can navigate just fine and that his lord is still loyal to Prince Reo, saying that the rebellion sent a letter threatening to cut off vital supplies to the duchy if Duke Sae doesn’t comply.

Seeing as the roads are nearly impassable and he already imported necessary goods to survive the winter, Sae ordered the messenger thrown in chains and is currently feigning ignorance. Your group can stay for the winter or just make a quick stop before seeking asylum somewhere else, doesn’t that beat sleeping on the ground?

Reo is skeptical, so Shidou turns to you and asks: Will you trust him and Sae? His eyes and teeth glint a little too much for your comfort in the dim firelight, but what other choice do you have? Ever since he’s joined your group, you can feel eyes on you too much for your comfort.

AIKU, the bandit leader who blocks the only clear pass to the Itoshi duchy. He proposes a deal: one person stays behind with them while the rest can go on, and nobody’s blood melts snow tonight. Nobody is happy with that deal, but when Aiku points at you, things turn ugly.

After Shidou nearly breaks his nose, Niko’s crossbow bolt buries itself in a nearby tree, and everyone else unsheaths a blade of some sort, he takes back his offer and insists on coming with you.

As it turns out, Sae needs more soldiers to defend against the insurrectionists, so puts Aiku in charge of the very pass you took to get to his stronghold after a brief test. Aiku winks at you when he leaves, promising to keep you safe at any cost, if you’ll nurse him better if he gets injured.

SAE lets you in, out of the cold and into the… cold? Well, it turns out that the coal mines have been closed due to earthquakes in the past several years and he was planning on getting more fuel before the attack happened… and it put a bit of a wrench in his plans.

And the Itoshi duchy’s been bleeding money recently, because merchants have discovered that they can charge through the nose for food shipments and, without any supervision from Prince Reo (despite the many, many, many letters he’s written), get away with ridiculous upcharges. But now that he’s here, the prince surely will discuss some legislation to prevent this from happening again and perhaps some compensation for past years, between planning his escape, of course.

Sae leads the way through stone corridors bustling with servants bundled in thick coats and separates each of you into rooms to let you rest before the first of the meetings. Oddly enough, when you get to your room, there’s a roaring fire keeping the whole room toasty and a nearly-boiling bath waiting for you.

RIN is Sae’s younger brother, guarding the messenger sent from the rebels. It’s obvious, when you see him, that he thinks this is below him.

He tells them not to bother when Isagi and Bachira try questioning the prisoner–he only talks in his sleep. At the prisoner’s horrified look, Rin eventually caves to you asking and explains all he knows, which is a combination of nonsense babbling and vitally useful information.

It turns out that, save Anri, the rest of the council Reo set up to govern in his absence has turned traitor. Calling themselves the JFA, they intend to take over the kingdom and live easy lives at the kingdom’s expense. You’re so excited at being useful for once in this escapade that you grab both his hands and excitedly thank him, before rushing off to tell the others.

When you’re gone and the prisoner goes back to sulking, Rin carefully presses his hands together where you held them, lingering on how your touch felt.

NOA, as it turns out, is prepared for your arrival. As king of the neighboring kingdom of Munchen, he explains that Barou managed to escape and explained all of what happened to him. He was still a little skeptical on taking you in before Kaiser and Ness persuaded him to.

He calls a strategy meeting with the leaders of four other nations and begins talking with each of them: Julian Loki, Marc Snuffy, Lavinho, and Chris Prince. All agree to help, noting the threat that recognizing an illegitimate government poses to their own authority. Thus begins you learning swordplay and archery from the masters.

EGO is Noa’s advisor. He persuades Noa to back Reo’s campaign to retake his kingdom and even personally implements a training regimen to whip the small squadron of Reo’s troops who managed to escape into shape, dubbing it “Blue Lock.”

When asked by Anri how he plans to storm the castle with such a small team, he responds it’s obvious that he intends to wake and use the dragon causing the earthquakes in the Itoshi duchy to their advantage.

Second of all, here are those genuine Dad!Corrupted Scarecroe Examples:

Scarecrow loving to defy Glinds every now and then (It's good for her, he tells little Una. Keeps her on her toes.) so sometimes when Una misbehaves, Scarecrow'll sneak her out of her room to hang out with him, or slip her hot chocolate and lollies, or flash her a reassuring smile and wink; assuring her that it's all okay.

Scarecrow telling Una bedtime stories of him and his old friends like he did for Ozma sometimes (When he has nothing better to do, or Glinda forced him). Sure, the way he tells them now is a little different, he calls Tin a twitterpatted twit and the the Lion an animal- and whenever Una asks about the great Dorothy he sighs at her-- but his hand is always comfortingly on her tummy or her side, rocking her to sleep with a gentle precision.

Scarecrow telling Una jokes!! They're awful (as in, gross and kinda mean), but she laughs because they make her dad laugh 🧡

Scarecrow always remembering to feed Una. Always. Glinda might go into States where all she can think about are her devious plans and cunning strategies and what next-- bit the Scarecrow will always take Una to the kitchen and spread some jam on a piece of bread for her for dinner. It's not a lot and it's not nutritious but it's more then her adoptive mother remembered to give her. And he stays with her, muttering about Glinda (sometimes complaining to Una about Glinda), while she eats, so he can send her straight to bed after (he knows he may not need it, but she does!).

Alright, I've had all day to brew on this XD be prepared for plenty of incohesive thoughts. For anyone else reading, be warned as this mentions a lot of gore. If you know anything about the Dorothy must Die universe, you know that it gets pretty dark. With that warning out of the way-

First off, this did get me thinking more on Una's timeline. Not just this AU, but in general. It's not perfect since I'm not quite sure how time in DmD!Oz works, nor am I too far in the books yet (I'm still in the part where Amy acquires her Glamora styled room. I need to pick these books uo again 😅). But lemme go over that real quick.

Around the time the Witch of the West took over, Una's father, a winkie named Hubert (yes I'm making that canon XD) decided it was worth the risk and set off on his own, wanting to live freely from the Witch. The other winkies were too scared to follow him, and he was gravely injured by the time he made it outside the borders. But he was alive.

A bit before Dorothy came to Oz in the first place, Hubert met Twyla, an Ozian woman who would become his wife and mother to his child. She had possessed a tiny bit of magic, and was a great painter. Being a traveling merchant, she let Hubert tag along on her way to the Emerald City, and they shortly fell in love.

They decide to build a cottage in the woods together, choosing to live away from society to avoid any trouble with the Wicked Witches. Even after the news finally reached to them about how Dorothy slayed them (which again, they live away from people. It took a while 😅), they liked the life they built and chose to stay.

At some point during the war between King Scarecrow and Jinjur, which Twyla and Hubert were fortunately blissfully unaware of because they lived so deep in the woods, they have little Una. They fill the girls head with all the stories they have heard about the Witchslayer Dorothy and her companions, as well as The Good Witch Glinda. This, along with her mothers' limited magical skills, inspires Una to learn the ways of magic one day.

When Una was just 7 years old, however, Glinda had discovered the family's secret home purely by accident. For reasons unknown (did she see a threat in the family? Was it for control? Simple entertainment?), Glinda influenced Dorothy Gale to send the now corrupted Tin Woodman on a crusade to kill anyone he found in that forest. (Hubert had been the first to die, a blade through the chest. Then Twyla, after running as far as she could with Una in her arms and her own injuries, had her head ripped off right in front of young Una. Una just barely made it out alive, now covered in her mother's blood and the terrifying metal monsters eyes flashing in her mind).

Now, in this is when her timeline diverges in the AU. In the OG timeline, Una wandered the forest, tired and starving, for a week before she came across Mombi. As you know, Mombi took her in with The Order of the Wicked, and adopted her helped raise her to become the witch she is now. But in this AU, Glinda decided to follow Tin, to make sure the family was killed. When Una survived, she saw potential in the child, and 'saved' her, before taking the girl under her wing. By the time Una turns 20-24, in either timeline, I imagine that's when Amy arrives in Oz herself.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's got onto the headcannons for this AU! I got a lot so hang tight 😅 and since I haven't read the books too far, I have no idea how accurate these are.

Una and Glinda

In the OG timeline, Una's mind does block out a little of what happened because the trauma was so severe. Enough where she doesn't realize that the Tin Woodman was the one behind her parents' deaths. But in this AU, Glinda encouraged her to forget. Distracting the girl, and maybe using magic to subtly erase Una's memory. Her subconscious fought it, but now Una can't recall what really happened that night now. She has nightmares of it, and knows that her blood parents were taken from her, but Glinda made her believe the 'great danger' they're fighting in Oz killed them.

In the OG timeline, Una is pretty strong, both physically and magically. She's had excellent training in the order. But here, Glinda keeps her as weak as possible while still training her. Una has very little physical strength, and although she has the potential to be very powerful. Glinda is careful with what she teaches her. But Una, with the help of Scarecrow, is starting to suspect her mother figure.

As you can see, Glinda has a lot of influence in Una's life. She controls what she sees and learns, and makes sure that she doesn't see what's really going on- not until she knows she has Una's undying loyalty. As such, Una is rather naive, and her spirit has been damaged with Glinda's manipulative ways; Glinda sweetly putting her down at the right moment, keeping her in the dark and making sure she believes she needs her. (But damaged does not mean destroyed). Yeah, as you can see, Una and Glinda are like Rapunzel and Gothel.

Of course, Glinda fills her head with lies about her aunt Glamora, Mombie, Granny Gurt, and all the other witches. Una had thought Glamora killed her parents, but of course, she's proven wrong.

Not important, but please imagine with me; Glinda singing the Mother Knows Best reprose to Una if/when she runs away (especially if she runs away with a possible crush I'm thinking up for her 👀). Also! In the Carrie Musical How Those Boys would Dance, but Glinda trying to place doubt in Una's mind about someone she loves. Also, this scene in Steven Universe when White Diamond and Steven finally meet. I'd have to dig into a lot of why Whites words are important, but imagine if Una was 'brought' back home from the order, or she runs away, and Glinda with her fake warmth treats this like it was all just a silly game played by a girl having a temper tantrum, "Did you get everything out of your system, dear?"

Una and Scarecrow

Scarecrow being a dad for Una- even if it's not the most genuine on his part- is getting to my heart so much 🥺🥺🥺 I can't possibly raise your headcannons, but here's what I have;

Una bonded with Scare, especially when he would treat her after Glinda punished her and he would complain to her about her during their late night 'dinners' (even if Una didn't want to talk that way about her, she did agree with some things he said. Especially as she grew older. It was what inspired her to be suspicious of her mother figure and teacher in the first place). As such, he's her first choice of person to go to when she's scared or hurt, especially if by Glinda, or if she just wants a hug (I mean, he is like a pillow XD).

Because of how close she and Scare have gotten, Glinda has pretty much appointed him as her Una Spy. He reports everything he can back to her (or at least he's supposed to)

Even though Glinda is her teacher, she has gone to Scare to help her with her homework or for extra lessons. After all, if there's anybody in Oz who can teach her anything, it has to be the smartest guy in the world, huh? If Scare isn't busy with his experiments, he'll happily take the opportunity to prove how smart he is- I mean, teach the silly little girl.

When Una joins the order (when she runs away, or Mombi kidnaps her for a plan, and Una proves her worth to join the order), she was in denial about Scare the most. That's her father! How could he be such a monster?? How could he... Know what Glinda had done to her parents and not do anything?? This can't be him, can it??

Also, Una would hug Scare a lot. Everytine she sees him. It's a comforting habit she gained when she was younger, and he took care of her. Even when he's a grum about it, Una will still give her straw dad a hug ^^ it does hurt a little if he pushes her away or act like this is such an inconvenience, but it's what she knows so she doesn't let it stop her all the time.

Now, if Una got to see Scarecrow after his brain is removed and the sweet, affectionate straw man is back, it'd take her a moment to process it all. Her father is... This now? After how she grew up knowing him as a mean, kind of gross and antisocial man? How he was cold even towards her sometimes? After finding out what he did?? And... He's actually loving now? He wants her hugs?? It'd take her a moment to get used to this Scarecrow (I want Dumb!Scarecrow to learn or remember how he thought of Una and how he only showed her affection to manipulate her (mostly), and do his very best to make it up to his baby 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺)

I can see this AU actually having a better chance at the Rehabilitation AU! I mean, Una was raised with a softer heart for one. But she sees these people as her family. Even if they were so much worse than she expected, she doesn't want to give up on them.

Also not important, but when little Una got used to Scarecrows presence in her life, she showed him a lock of her hair and pointed at the hay sticking out from the seams of his body and basically said they matched 🥺🥺🥺🥺 I know he's a heartless bastard but PLEASE tell me that got to him?? Just a tiny bit????

Una and Lion

She didn't see Lion often, and was scared of his size. Though since he's the friendliest even with his corruption, I don't think it took too long for him and Una to develop an uncle and neice sort of bond. Glinda made sure he didn't eat her, of course. And didn't slip out any information that would be too troubling for the little girl.

Una has many memories of climbing onto Lion, giggling with him and listening to his great tales of the days of old (when he and his friends were still heros). She was always in awe of his great feats of bravery, and he quickly became her favorite storyteller. Yes, even over her father (Lion doesn't insult anybody while telling stories *side eyes Scarecrow*)

Lion sees her as just a little cub 🥺 yes, even now as she's grown up. She's so tiny and bright! Una actually reminds him a little of Dorothy, before everything... He promised her that someday he'd take her to see his great kingdom in the jungle, and that he wouldn't let the monster hurt her (I'm not sure if Lion would know who killed her parents, but either way, he cares about Una to protect her like Dorothy). He doesn't see her often, but when they are both at the palace, it's like old days again when she would crawl all over him. It's a nice break from her conniving family for Una.

I'm not sure if Glinda would let her learn it, but if Una could transform into other animals, she's definitely showing it off to Lion... I'm not sure if that'd be the safest thing to do around the hungry king of beasts, though 😅

Una and Tin

I think it may have taken Una a long time to see Tin. Glinda had to make sure she wouldn't recognize Tin and revert all her progress. It took around a year at least for Glinda to fully trust them meeting.

Little Una was intimidated by Tin Woodmans appearance, not believing at first that that was the same gentle hero her parents told her about. But after seeing Lion, Una approached him and reached for one of his finger blades to hold. Of course, he pulled away, a bit shocked that Glinda had a daughter. But he knew he had to treat her with respect, so he was very polite with the child.

I think that since Tin is too busy being Dorothy's authority and thinking about her, he and Una didn't see each other often. Even less than Lion, maybe? Along with Glinda telling her all about how Tin keeps the peace, Una still sees him as a hero rather than a family member like she does the others. As such, she's very cordial but polite, rather than seeking him out for comfort or loosening up around him.

Of course, they run into each other sometimes when Glinda takes her to the Emerald Palace. The more he sees her, as she gets older, maybe Tin grows more curious about her and asks Scarecrow about her? The two seem to be close, and clearly, Glinda must have big plans for the witch. Perhaps she is meant to help to protect Dorothy??

Una and Dorothy and Ozma/Pete

Una is not too familiar with Dorothy. But she had been excited to meet her. Why wouldn't she want to see the hero and queen of Oz? I'm not sure how much control Glinda has over Dorothy, really, but either way, I don't think Una would like her too much. Dorothy doesn't exactly hide her true colors. Maybe Una accidentally peeved her, and she started screeching at her (maybe Una giggled, and Dorothy took that as her laughing at her). Glinda stepped in however, and took Una aside and told her she needed to be careful around their very stressed ruler. Ever since then, Una has been... Very very conflicted about the witchslayer.

She and Ozma totally gain a sibing bond in this AU! Una was confused about the great fairy being so childish and zoned out, especially hearing that she apparently tried to hurt Dorothy. But she warmed up to the fairy as they got to live and play together. She and Ozma would huddle together when Scarecrow told stories, and they'd have many sleepovers together ^^ as Una grew older, she took it upon herself to care for her new sister, and is hoping to cure her of her memory loss and her supposed corrupted heart.

I think as she gets older and Glinda molds her into the perfect ally more, Una is taken to the palace more. She still retains her good heart though and, despite the servants being afraid of her, she wants to talk to them. Pete was the only one who was willing to approach her, and they would up becoming friends. Una isn't sure why, but something about the boy is familiar. Like she knows him already, somehow. It's strange, though, how he's always disappearing...

Also, I'm considering in this AU, Una might develop a crush on a boy in the palace named Benjamin? I'm not sure, but she wouldn't be so scared of faliing in love here (she doesn't see any risk of losing her lover in the war, unlike her OG self), and I really want to explore her falling in love and how her little family would react to it.

Also, not important, but I found a picrew and made Una! The one on the left is her in the Glinda's Apprentice AU, and the one on the right is Una in the OG timeline (I tried to rough her up as much as possible. Also, this picrew didn't have a silver color for eyes, so they're blue here XD but I promise her eyes are canonically silver. Also, ignore the ears. She has human like ears like her mother, I just liked the art style of this Picrew)

Heartslabyul is known for being a strict organization. Every little mistake goes unnoticed, and will be judged by their boss himself.

Riddle Rosehearts

He definitely uses his scepter as a short range weapon, like a polearm would. But, just in case, he'd like to keep a handgun on his hip at all costs so he can fight against longer ranged enemies. Definitely something elegant, a rather old model but definitely shows Riddle's personality.

Ace Trappola

Handguns, definitely handguns. He can even dual-wield, if he wants to. He's not always precise and wastes a lot of bullets, (much to the dismay of Riddle and the Heartslabyul finances) so make sure to pack more spares and get him aim training! He's surely a force to be reckoned with if he hits those shots.

Deuce Spade

Ah, the classic baseball bat with spikes. He nailed the spikes in himself- and it doesn't look as neat as he wanted, but oh well. He'd usually let Ace or someone else take the kill but he won't hesitate to bludgeon someone when needed.

Cater Diamond

Assassins pop up when you least expect 'em, honey. He'd be all over you on parties and celebrations, giving you gifts and calling you nicknames- until you find his signature jewel-embedded, poison laced folded knife ledged between your chest. Cay-cay's here to slay-slay, and i mean literally!

Trey Clover

Definitely the mom- i mean supervisor of the gang. He'd usually watch from the back lines, and then use his medium-range sniper rifle to snipe off some heads with precision when you least expect it. Don't underestimate him though, he's still got you beat on hand-to-hand combat when needed!

Savanaclaw

An unruly bunch, to say the least. Chaos always follows behind their footsteps, as their leader, the Great King of Lions, executes high-risk high-reward bounties perfectly.

Leona Kingscholar

Who needs weapons? Only herbivores. Leona would face guns with his own bare hands, pouncing forward with the speed and agility of a Lion and knocking his enemies out of balance, swiftly destroying their gun *and* their skulls. Out of all the gang leaders, he's the least likely to die assassinated because of his instincts and reflexes.

Ruggie Bucchi

Watch out, cuz this guy's got a machine gun! Despite his scrawny stature, he's strong enough to hold down an area by making it rain bullets, effectively cleaning the way for Leona to pass through. Although, he'd never use it unless he knows there are no civilians in his line of fire. Shishishi, It's always better to get your boss through clean and unscathed, cuz blood on laundry is god awful!!!

Jack Howl

He owns a pair of silver brass knuckles! His speed and agility almost matches those of Leona himself, and Jack prides himself in his pack. He'd go on bounties with a big group, and if they ever get into a gang fight with the other gangs, he'll be sure to run to your rescue if you're getting beaten up!

Octavinelle

The mafia group behind the infamous Mostro Lounge industry. They affiliate themselves with blackmail and infiltration, and most of the time for monetary gain. They're led by a capitalist, after all.

Azul Ashengrotto

Does he fight? Sometimes, maybe. But he's usually breaking out deals with other companies and families while his two bodyguards stand behind him, ready to strike whenever. So, i guess his weapon of choice are Jade and Floyd? But he'd land the killing blow using the sharp edge of his scepter, a clean shot to the heart and blood staining the octopus ornament on the scepter. You better accept his business proposition, unless you wanna end up dead!

Jade Leech

This particular Leech twin doesn't like to get his suit dirty. He'd be manning the long-range sniper rifles and precisely taking out enemies quick and silent enough to not out himself. He's the one to go on most infiltration missions for Azul, so he also has high precision on using a handgun with a silencer. Don't cross this one, cuz you're going down and nobody's gonna know.

Floyd Leech

The full opposite of Jade, Floyd would rather crack someone's skull open instead and bathe in their blood. Floyd leads the more violent missions, and also in charge of torture. He has a pair of brass knuckles with elegant eel engravings given to him by Azul and Jade, and he loves them! But sometimes, his *real* knuckles are enough to break someone. Or would you rather he use his teeth instead and chomp off your flesh?

Scarabia

Possibly the richest gang around. Their leader, Kalim Al-Asim, acts as their front face in public scenarios while his right-hand man, Jamil Viper, does all the dirty work and cleaning behind everyone's backs.

Kalim Al-Asim

Knowing Kalim, he's probably forgotten to bring a weapon. It would be hard to imagine a name as big as Kalim's to not gather attention though, and there would be a lot of assassination attempts. Luckily for him, Jamil always hides a nifty shotgun for him if he ever gets cornered. Just one quick aim to the head, and boom- But this rarely happens, because Jamil's here to intercept before they could even see Kalim!

Jamil Viper

Jamil, Jamil, Jamil. Part bodyguard, part housewife /what. He's always looking out for the gang! But underneath all that, he's a crafty assassin out for your blood. He knows every single way to take someone out, be it using firearms, poison, sharp objects, or even his own fists. Though, his weapon of choice is a revolver! It's only thanks to Jamil that Kalim gets to live without a care, and Kalim loves Jamil like his own family.

Pomefiore

You wouldn't think there'd be elegance in the art of murder. Think again, with Vil Schoenheit now on the case! Pomefiore specializes in providing any type of poisons and drugs to whoever dares to strike a deal with them.

Vil Schoenheit

Don't be fooled by his intoxicating beauty, darling. Because most likely, the sweet scent of his perfume is also toxic! Vil has grown quite the resistance towards poison, and he always knows which one to use for which types of occassion. You better believe when i say each crime scene left by The Queen, always looks as beautiful as he is in his craft.

Rook Hunt

Vil Schoenheit's personal bodyguard. You don't see him beside the great Vil all the time, but rest assured, he's lying in wait with his bow and arrow aimed to your head. One misstep, and it'll cost you your life. Even a slight graze from the arrow would kill you, as a hunter never forgets to lace their arrows with the finest poisons and anesthesias. He was part of the Savanaclaw gang once, but after a scuffle between the two leaders, Rook decided to join Pomefiore in pursue of beauty and elegance.

Epel Felmier

Definitely not the most elegant one in the group, but 200% deadly. He prefers the head-on way of charging into battle with a bat or a metal pipe, but Vil taught him how to make use of his looks and kill more cleanly. Act like a maiden in need of assistance, infiltrate their defenses. And when you least expect it, a shotgun to the back will be your end. He still comes home all drenched in blood though, in Vil's dismay.

Ignihyde

The main gang for technological advances and info-broking. In addition to their human forces and the ever-adept technology team, they also have the forces of a couple dozen war robots if you ever cross their way!

Idia Shroud

Fighting? No no no, no way. Some shut-in like that wouldn't have the physical capabilities to go on front line fights. Instead he leads his gang to technological advances and innovations, most of the time making and rigging his own set of firearms from the confines of his room. But if anyone ever tries to assassinate the leader of Ignihyde gang, if they aren't killed by the security system, Idia himself will finish you off with his signature electric gun. Get ready to be fried to a crisp!

Ortho Shroud

Despite still being young, Ortho replaces his brother on the front lines and spreads his words to the gang. A being of technology himself, he's rigged to the brim with ground leveling firearms and first aid tech to help the team out. Just give him 10 seconds- his firing beam will level cities in a blink of an eye. But Ortho isn't allowed to use the beam without Idia's direct order, and Idia doesn't want any trouble with any other gangs, so shooting smaller beams with his fingers would work better.

Diasomnia

A well-feared gang. Diasomnia holds power to higher-grade firearms because of their leader, Malleus Draconia, and his royal upbringing. Diasomnia has privileges to firearms harder to procure, and typically just looks like royal guards instead of a gang.

Malleus Draconia

Malleus rarely gets into fights due to his position. Most of the time, Diasomnia's forces will be hard at work while he strategizes from atop his throne. But if he's forced to fight for his life, he would pick up his antique handgun. The wood carving simply bleeds elegance, and you should be thankful if your last sight was The Malleus Draconia pointing his gun at you while he towers above your beat-up body. Goodbye, Child of Man. This should teach you to never cross Diasomnia.

Lilia Vanrouge

Right hand man to Malleus himself, but he prides his work on assassination more than being on the front lines. His signature weapon is a cleaver, and you'd know it's the work of one Lilia Vanrouge when the victim have multiple slash wounds all over their body. He's been around in Diasomnia for so long, everyone suspects he's older than he looks- even his skills and experience way surpasses the rest!

Sebek Zigvolt

One of Malleus's bodyguards. He traditionally has an AR at hand just like Silver, but he uses a Revolver when the AR isn't in use. Typically you'd choose small, unnoticeable guns as Mafia to not get caught, but Sebek shows his domination over his enemies with his choice of firearms. He'd usually go for the attack, while Silver defends.

Silver

One of Malleus's bodyguards. He traditionally has an AR at hand just like Sebek, but he also uses a baton as a weapon of choice. He'd usually go for the defense, and leaves Sebek to attack and get rid of enemies. Silver specializes in defending and protecting, so if you're ever in trouble, Silver will make sure you live to see the next sunrise!
