I often see posts on here about your Moral Obligation to Reblog (which I don't really agree with), but I don't ever see the argument that reblogging is fun and nets you followers. I love seeing stuff on my dash. I open Tumblr seventeen times a day in order to See the Posts. I like it when there are more of them. If I get a new follower, or someone reblogs one of my posts, I often go check out their blog, and if I like a high proportion of what's there, I'll follow 'em. It's cool to be a creator in a fandom, but liking stuff and being enthusiastic about stuff is a really important role you can have, too. I've only been on Tumblr since 2019, but even then, posts in my fandom seemed to circulate a lot more, especially older ones, and I miss that. People would just find something from a few years ago and say "HEY REMEMBER THIS? IT WAS SO COOL!" and I would think "I DO REMEMBER THAT AND IT WAS!" or maybe I hadn't seen it because new people join all the time. I don't care if I have seen a post eight times. I don't usually even mind if I see a post eight times today. I recognize your name and I think "oh ThatPerson liked that cool post, too!" If you add tags? Amazing. Fantastic. Instantly quadruples the chance of follow. They don't even have to be witty tags. "This episode was sooooo funny!" or "I love Blorbo in a jean jacket he's just like me fr!" or "OPartist I love the colors you picked!" make this place feel so much friendlier. As far as being fun--a cool thing about Tumblr is that if you reblog a thing, you get the notifs and OP gets the notifs. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm sure the notifs are a pain if you actually go viral, but I don't think that's a thing most of us every worry about. I love to get notes! It's fun to get notes even if I didn't make the post, because I see who else thought that post was funny! Do you know how good it feels to find some neat piece of art with 6 notes and you reblog it and it gets 10 or 30 or 100 more and you get to see that?

Anyway, reblogging is fun and cool. Tumblr even lets you make sideblogs, so if you want to have a dedicated blog to just your art (or whatever), you can make a sideblog for reblogging. Or, hear me out--people will come for your reblogs and then end up liking the things you make, too.

When I was in college I had a class on cinema and my brain decided it'd be my new hyperfixation. Now that'd be fun and dandy except I got a little too into it and all I can see is patterns, archetypes & trope.

Like there is maybe 10 movies/TV shows that I didn't see the plot twist coming from a mile away. My stupid brain pick up on the most minuscule details and unravel the whole plot in a second. Which sucks sometimes.

It's great but there's a few sentences/frames that drive me insane.

When they throw the Cons in jail after episode 1, the rest of the Decepticons must know about Mandroid, they'e so close in there and in later episode it's shown they can chit-chat easily

Megatron is nice now and that's it?!?!?? He hunts & imprisons Decepticons and he's free and it's fine?!?!? AND HE STILL WEARS THE DEECPTICON BRAND?!?!?!

Speaking of cells, I knew G.H.O.S.T. was iffy the *Second* they showed the empty cells. THERE'S NOTHING IN THERE NOT EVEN A BENCH OR SOMETHING WTF?!?!

I said fuck it and wrote down all the things that bothered me, asked my pal @shotimus what other things she thought were weird/missing/not explained [Shots is the TF expert, I'm still a noob] and I threw that all together in a blender. Took my favourite parts of multiple continuity (IDW, Aligned/Prime, Shatter Glass, G1 & Earthspark) and made a 6k OUTLINE of the fic I wanted to write.

The one (1) thing I was doubting the most about the plot of the fic, is Starscream is older than Megs & OP in my AU. I saw a comment on Reddit once that blew my mind (goes like this: If we’re sticking pretty closely to G1-esque Starscream, it would be pretty easy to show some more of his motivations for being so conniving. 

Just show some glimpses of the life he imagines he should have and why he is so convinced he should have it, and there could be many specific ways to go about that. All you’d have to do is show why he’s like this—you wouldn’t have to get the audience to think he’s in the right or being reasonable, and it would be interesting.) Took that and ran with it. This post reassured me I wasn't too insane for making SS older

🥺🥺🥺 not 2 be sappy on main but omg I actually started off in Deviantart ages ago, that was the closest thing to social media for me until the tumblr migration lol. But I never really interacted with people on there, and even upon moving to tumblr, never really interacted with people here too often either. At first I had my main blog which was meant to be more professional since I was selling art to get a little college income, so I didn't really make too many irrelevant posts. Then I decided that I wanted to be able to reblog art and support other artists, so I made a side blog where I carefully curated and tagged the posts I reblogged. I made a few original posts but no one ever interacted, and eventually I realized that people only ever sent me asks there if I tagged anything wrong. Also I found out that adding stuff like series and character tags to a reblog on tumblr is basically useless because the op will pretty much always tag those things which makes it searchable on your own blog even if you don't tag it yourself. And if op DIDN'T tag it those things, your tags will make the post searchable on your blog but NOT in the general search, so it doesn't give op any more of a boost than just reblogging it tagless. So I made another sideblog, which I still have today, and I just rapidfire reblog literally anything I find shareworthy lol. Not any interaction there but at least I'm not wasting my time meticulously tagging strangers posts hsfjdlshfks. Since I was best friends with a big name fan in my main fandom (we became friends when I left a long emotional comment on their fanfic btw <3), I helped run some small fandom events and met more people as well. When I switched fandoms, it was a fandom event that gave me a new friend too, my posts never got any traction. Large fandom discords didn't really work for me either. But on this blog I was lucky, and for the first time people started like actually responding to my comments and posts, and get conversations going! And genuinely that's what's kept my brain rot so powerful I think, because bouncing ideas off each other and joking around and shitposting is genuinely the most fun I've ever had online!! I have to thank desta and oatmeal for the fun times especially, and hillbilly---man left really nice comments on my first few fics that really encouraged me, and I always have fun trading ideas with alienn, saikikthoughts, and crookedlyinnernightmare, plus everyone else who's on here, that's too many people to type out. AND I TYPED UP A BUNCH MORE STUFF BUT TUMBLR FUCKING DELETED IT!! Are you shitting me.... Well I think I remember saying that even if it's been getting kinda quiet and boring lately so my attention is starting to wander (I've pretty much posted all of the meta that's not deep fanfic hc at this point and my drawings take me a long time to make), I'll never delete this blog and I'll still be putzing around online until the day I die probably. And I'll always remember these days fondly and hope to find another great community like this one. And also I highly encourage everyone to post, reply, interact, and play with fellow fans! I've made lifelong friendships over blorbos and even if we don't have the same blorbos any more, we're still friends. Obviously stay safe online, never send money to strangers, probably wait like a year to start shipping each other stuff but still, reach out because you never know who you might meet! I've been lonely irl for most of my life for various reasons, and my online friends have been a lifeline honestly, they're all really important to me. Two of my best friends today come from fanfic comment sections!! Also I need to get around to archiving my meta on AO3 lol (yup, it's for meta too!) but that's gonna be a lot of work so -_-U).

With all the fucked up changes Tumblr has implemented over the last few years it feels like we just got steamrolled and barely had time to mourn one loss before the next one hit and right this minute I am thinking about how much i hate that tags now show up in the op's notifications. Tagging culture evolved the way it did on this site SPECIFICALLY as a way of communicating with followers - people who had chosen to see your thoughts - without blasting those thoughts directly to op. If I wanted to see what people were saying in the tags on my posts I'd search them out like God intended; it was my choice. Tags were not meant to be a conversation with op; they were used for archival use, and adding fun little thoughts for followers to see that crucially would not be attached to/follow the original post. And now the op, if they still have notifications on for that post, will see everything. People who are new didn't ever see the way it used to work, and so here comes a rash of posts complaining about what people put in tags. It's a real loss imo bc I feel like we NEED a way to interact with a post that doesn't put whatever we're saying in front of the op. Someone posts a verse of poetry, they don't need to see a million blorbo tags. But people still need a way to point and say "blorbo!!!" to their friends. Fucked up tbh

2. what’s your total ao3 word count?

I just broke 700k with my last fic :3c

3. what fandoms do you write for?

Whichever one I'm obsessed with at the moment xD Currently, I am thoroughly within One Piece's grip. Before that, there was BNHA, but I have written for a couple other fandoms in far smaller quantities before.

4. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

I used to! But it became overwhelming fairly soon. Moreover, a lot of the comments I get are simple emojis or "this was cute!" and while i do appreciate them - of course i do! it always brightens my day to see them! - i find myself at a loss as to how to respond. I don't like seeing a chain of my own "thank you!" comments responding in the same way to everyone, and it feels like i'm cheating somehow, like i'm artificially inflating my comments count ajsdhkajh So nowdays I usually only respond if someone asks a question or says something that I feel I can respond to with something more substantial than just a "thank you <3"

5. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge (unless I am forgetting, which is also possible lol)

6. have you ever co-written a fic before?

Oh, yes, plenty! Lemme dig up the receipts. Most notably there was a ton of fic telephones in Fic Fight '22 which I'm still not certain if I've got all of them jotted down xD

Then there was that one Stain & Aizawa & Izuku & Katsuki longfic we had started with (listing in the order on our tracking spreadsheet) Addri, myself, LadyE, Blanc, Sophy, Ryuka and Kooky! We initially started it as a November NaNoWriMo challenge back in 2022 (inspired by the joint Whumptober completionist thing NWA did) and we've got up to 40k before life had caught up xD

OH and of course the NWA Two Perspectives in Feb 2023, where both Brinn and I wrote 11k of the same EraserMic fic (fic 1)(fic 2) each in one person's POV, it was a lot of fun!

Other then those, there might have been instances of me co-writing with someone, but I do not recall them! (my memory is a sieve, if you wrote a fic with me and i forgor pls don't take it personally :crypuddle:)

7. what’s your all-time favourite ship?

There isn't one! I am a notorious multishipper, and I'll ship anything that moves in the vicinity of my current blorbo (cough cough Sabo the Revolutionary and April O'Neil being the. current victim of that)

The ranking of my fav ships switches pretty much hourly, with individual blorbos taking a longer time (it's been a mix of Sabo, Ace, Luffy and Law in any order for the past half a year or so) and fandoms being the slowest to rollover (BNHA to OP pipeline across 4 years)

8. what are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm a speed demon xD You Are Loved (13k) got written over the first four days since my joining of MDL. I prefer to go all-in on a fic idea the moment I think of it!

9. what are your writing weaknesses?

If I let a story idea stagnate, I'll have to wait until I'm in the mood for that particular fic to write it again, and it could take months. I write fast, sure, but it doesn't exactly work if I have no words to put down on the page xD My writing is very motivation-based, which sucks for any kind of a schedule but alas, I deal with it

Hmm I believe that'd be Danny Phantom! I've written entries for Phannymay back in 2017, but I have since moved those to an alt AO3 account due to the fact that I barely knew english at the time and didn't want those on my record xD

it also gets me that yingda is implied to have gone crazy but didn't harm the other yakshas when she died (unlike minu and fanan who self destructed 😭) I've taken your hc about her as the youngest so based off of that I'd assign her a bright personality with lots of heart, but she definitely wavered a little bit about who and what she was protecting after bonanus and menogias killed each other :') if she talked about it to xiao I honestly don't know if the conversation would go well, xiao's one of those people who stick to whatever their orders are because they're Orders (in this case it's even more important since yanwang dijun saved him etc. he feels he owes rex lapis a bigger debt than his life). he'll see it through even if he loses everything in the process; yingda though... I feel like she lives as much for herself as for her relationships with others,, if the people who are important to her are gone she'll rethink her motivations for why she's doing this and its worth, obviously the ending is that she comes around and keeps fighting until it's too much but the slight doubt crisis is for a bit of character complexity </3

I will say however that it depends on what we're talking about.

A headcanon is a person's personal interpretation of a piece of media and its canon. What they personally think of the characters and setting and plot of a piece of media.

But - you can have headcanons about the Media Itself and you can have headcanons about Transformative Works/Alternate Universes/Fanart/Fanfic of that media. Headcanons about What Ifs- if you will.

That's where the distinction is for me.

If we're talking about headcanons for characters in an AU setting specifically (like for fanart and fanfic and personal AUs) then yes I agree with all of the above!

But if we're talking about just headcanons that people have for a character in the piece of media when they talk about the characters and the piece of media in general fandom discussion then the chart absolutely stands as written in the image.

Like for fanfic and fanart and What Ifs - the line is pretty far out there because of the nature of them being transformative works.

But for just plain headcanons about the media and its characters - the line is fairly close.

It's like that time where I wrote a post about a headcanon for a crossover AU and someone mistook it for me headcanoning about the Character and the Show Itself because my post had unintentionally ended up in the character tag and I had most of the clear crossover elements in the tags as opposed to the main post.

My blog is small and I thought only my followers would be seeing it. Posts didn't used to show up in the tags unless you actually tagged with the character name or show name by itself. Now if you have an original post that mentions a characters name or a show name anywhere in the post it'll get added to the tag - which kind of sucks because I don't want to have to censor smaller conversations about blorbos to prevent them from entering the wider fandom tag - but it is what it is.

So basically they thought (understandably) that I was just making stuff up about this character and the show and basing my interpretation of canon - my headcanon - on stuff that I just made up; when in fact I was actually using bubblegum to connect two unrelated series that have similar elements and a ripe avenue for crossover and it was my headcanon for an AU.

It just all depends on what the OP of any given post is doing and I think a big thing is likely that people are reading headcanon posts as if they're about the original media itself and aren't taking time to consider that the OP of the post they're reading may be talking about a headcanon for their own au or for their own What If / Transformative ideas.

And also also. Like. For the people out there that get annoyed by Level 4 headcanons about the media itself:

People are allowed to have level 4 headcanons for the media itself and the characters themselves if they really want to.

Level 4 pretty much never becomes Fanon anyway because Fanon tends to stick to level 2 and the start of level 3. It might not be something that a different fan likes - but people are allowed to make stuff up if they want to. This is all make believe anyway.

It might be annoying to you personally but you can either block them if you're sick of seeing it - or if they're a friend and you know it won't start a fight then you can tell them straight up that you disagree or that you don't want to talk about their headcanon.

Oh yes I meant to respond to this the other day. I did a bit in my guild discord but again:

Off the top of my head, take those prompt lists and don't wait for someone to ask in the inbox. Just answer the ones you feel like answering in their own posts. Even if folks do ask some of them when you post - answer the ones you want to that no one sent in! Use them as a starting point for sharing info, even if you're shy about reblogging the list.

FF14 fandom often has "WoL Question of the Day". Sometimes they come to Tumblr, and there's a whole Feed for them on Bluesky. Find some that you have answers for and just answer them.

Add little facts, backstory, other info to screenshot/art posts. It's a form of storytelling to combo image and basic details. Even if it's just a headshot or a new outfit. Maybe a "why this accessory" or "this is why their fashion sense."

Random thought about character in the day? Blog about it. That's what character/fandom blogs are for, to just post about the blorbo. I had a thought about how and why the Cornservant sidequests were important for Aeryn. I didn't have a story in mind, nor did anyone ask. I just posted a ramble about it.

Microfics, if there isn't the time and energy for a full one. Or even just bits of dialogue/description. Doesn't have to be a full scene or story. It falls under the "intrigue with a mystery, leave 'em wanting more" principle. @/prokopetz does this all the time, with little snippets of random characters talking (often in absurd situations) that are really free prompts.

And sure you know many things about your character. But followers don't. Even old ones. Even if you wrote about it before. We have links to previous posts and the ability to reblog for a reason. Reblogging yourself is fine! People are active at different times, have busy dashes. I also tend to reblog older posts that get a random note or two. If someone saw and liked it five years later, others might like it now, too.

And Tag things. With the fandom, with your character(s), any important places, etc. Be consistent. It helps you find things later, and helps others find them, too.

Finally, also be interested in others' stuff. Reblog, reply, leave nice tag commentary, send asks to others who post/reblog prompts, etc. People who are interested in others' creations get more looks at their own, generally.

Also look at the linked posts in the OP's above reblog. There's some great stuff there, especially for the shy/scared crowd. Imposter syndrome, shyness, anxiety, all suck - but also have to be actively fought to not only share and express ourselves and join the communities we want to join, but also to mitigate or even defeat those bad feels at all.

I couldn't have corrected them directly because they have me blocked. I wrote a post about their post to inform my followers and people in the tag in general because this specific topic has been a recurring problem in the Destiny fandom for well over a year now and I wanted people to get correct information. My post about them was not in any way hateful. Nor was it directed at that person, nor have they seen it, presumably, because they only thanked one person who explained the issue "politely" well after I did it already.

I say "politely" because I've done my post as politely as possible, despite the OP being continuously vitriolic towards anyone who attempted to correct them until they received what they viewed as "polite." And I'm not into tone policing.

I'm also tired of people posting the most outrageous crap knowing that they lack the necessary information. OP admitted to not having the patience or the time to read all lore books. Why are they then making a statement about a complicated lore relationship that has been constantly misinterpreted by the fandom? Literally the original post should've been "Hey can someone fill me in on the details about o14" and OP would've received 20 replies with people quoting lore books from memory about their blorbos.

You can see the drama, if we're gonna call it that, here in this post, including previous drama. I won't police whose content you're following and if you enjoy Ceo's content, I won't really tell you to stop or to leave. That's a choice for you to make. But definitely check things for inaccuracies, even if it's just fanon, because fanon can heavily influence how people think of and engage with the media. Most fanon is harmless, but sometimes it's not and this whole thing with o14 is an example of fanon that can lead to people being actively homophobic and racist (not necessarily Ceo, talking just in general because it has happened before).

At that point I made my post and then a few other people also commented on OPs post about how they are wrong. At this point OP has still not asked anyone for clarification and hasn't gone to check things by themselves. They also made another post in which they tried to absolve themselves of being wrong by saying we just don't understand what it means to criticise media which is a fairly rude assumption to make about 10 people telling you you're wrong. When another friend commented on that post, the reply was extremely childish and dismissive:

This friend of mine was blocked after this so he couldn't have made a reply or offer any substantial corrections. I guess OP unblocked my friend later to reblog his art. It's quite rude to block someone telling you about being wrong and then reblog their art as if you don't care about the artist's opinions or them being a human being, you're just here for the art. It's just a really weird vibe that other artist friends I have confirmed about being a pattern.

It's not until someone else took the time to reblog the post and correct them by posting pretty much exactly the same thing I did (with the exception about being wrong when it comes to Savathun controlling Osiris' body) that they decided to acknowledge corrections.

You're right, my entire blog is about helping people understand lore, but some people don't want to understand and are quick to be rude, dismissive and aggressive when corrected even once. Not the first nor the last time here. OP reblogging this post is especially funny because it's made by a friend who also initially commented on the original post and was dismissed. My friend also had a visceral reaction to the tags because the only reason my friend had to post this is because of OP. So that's basically 15 people trying to reach OP through different means and attempts to correct them until they finally budged after being spoonfed the lore directly .

Speaking of, this comes from another discourse where my friend politely asked if OP could tag NSFW content as "NSFW" because it's showing up in the main tag unfiltered. OP insulted my friend and refused to do so until I made this post and I guess the issue started making rounds so they finally buckled and said they'll use the standard tags. I consider this discourse done and over with, but I still absolutely detest OP's willingness to die on the hill of them not being anyone's "babysitter" and not being responsible for making sure minors aren't stumbling on untagged NSFW. OP has also reblogged a hateful and aggressive post full of misinformation about me from almost a year ago which was, I suppose, sent to them because there's no way to find it unless you look for it specifically. In this reblog they also continued to claim it's not anyone's job to protect minors so I am very put off by OP, to say the least.

This isn't helped by the anons they're getting where OP is bonding with random anons whose idea of a good time is insulting me and reporting to OP about my posts which is extremely funny considering they're bonding over how *I* apparently have a fanclub. Pot, kettle? I assure you, I do not.

Actually, I can read, unlike OP who admitted to not reading lore but having enough confidence to post about it. At least when I post things, I check my information. I also don't post about shit I know nothing about.

OP has always been rude and dismissive first and while yes, I have the patience to reply to people nicely, my patience is also not infinite. I am also obviously not going to chase after people who don't want to be corrected. I made a separate post detailing why the OP was wrong and left it at that. I received an anon who was equally frustrated with OP so I replied. It's apparently a quite widespread sentiment. I'm sure people feel the same about me too, btw, which is understandable.

And while OP has since decided to change their mind and learn after half the fandom was dismissed at first and we had to drag the corpse of this lore discourse to their doorstep, I've not yet seen any indication that they will apologise for the "Titans are dumb" take.

I also tend to get hate anons for "posting drama" so let's be clear: I made this blog in order to try and clear out the cesspool that was Destiny tumblr. I lurked in the tag for a year and I finally buckled when I could no longer stand the absolute shit takes going unchallenged and rampant homophobia and racism and other bigotry being completely unchecked. My first post here is replying to someone being homophobic about o14 being official. This blog exists because the straw that broke the camel's back was virulent homophobia against o14. So while my wider "brand" is posting lore essays, my original brand was and will remain to be tapping into fandom discourse and drama. So whoever is not into that, I will not be offended if you leave. actually this shit annoys me enough that i got my sick head hurty ass out of bed so i could come over to the computer to add on just because i don't want my actual friends/mutuals here to maybe misunderstand me:

if you don't like sharing there's nothing inherently wrong with that. for the most part i don't tend to be as concerned about it as others but that's largely bc i'm not swamped with like. super popular dudes from super popular pieces of media. my horrors are just the fucking judas contract discourse rearing up in slade's tags every six weeks.

but! when i was heavily active in RP, because it was very similar bc it's a lot of the same fucking dudes i did sometimes get a little ruffled when someone new would pop up as a dupe of someone i RP'd and suddenly everyone was more interested in the new account than me, esp if it was someone i'd been RPing for a while and/or had been the only one doing so.

so, i get it!

if you wanna block people and move on or block tags and move on that's fine and it's no different than how most anyone else uses the site for other subjects/posts/fandoms/etc.

but like.

y'all have got to stop having these long ass overly complicated and at times contradictory DNI's, sometimes coupled with long ass F/O lists, and then losing your fucking minds because someone else also likes your blorbo whether it's in a selfshipping or canonxcanon context or not. this OP didn't name anyone but given the reason i saw the post is bc it was related to a fandom i was searching, it's ENTIRELY POSSIBLE the person they're mad at isn't even a selfshipper and is just someone in the same general fandom. which is. even worse. selfshipping infighting is one thing but you gotta keep that shit in the selfshipping ring, don't be going to backstage causing problems for catering about it.
