Music Video Countdown to Bruce Dickinson's The Mandrake Project:
All the Young Dudes — June 1990 dir. Storm Thorgerson
"Unfortunately, I'm not a natural dude! In fact we had all the guys in the band—we had the drummer, Dickie Fliszar, and the bass player—who were all much more like "Hey, dude" than I ever am! So there's a great scene at the beginning where Dickie turns to camera, just turns around to the camera, in the sort of biker cafe scene that we have. And when he did that, we were all in the edit room looking at it and we all sort of went, "Oh you photogenic bastard!" I'd spent about six years trying to do a look like that, and Dick just turns around like:
and I went, "Argh! You good looking swine!"

Bruce Dickinson: Anthology (2006)
Disc 1
Features two live performances
Dive! Dive! Live!
The first of which is from the Tattooed Millionaire tour, Dickinson's first as a solo artist. The video was originally released in 1991 under the title Dive! Dive! Live! and was recorded on 14 August 1990 at the Town and Country Club, Los Angeles, California. The band included future Iron Maiden member Janick Gers on guitar as well as Andy Carr on bass and Dickie Fliszar on drums. The show was directed by Jim Yukich and produced by Paul Flattery.
Skunkworks Live
The second live performance is from the Skunkworks tour and was originally released in 1997 as Skunkworks Live. The footage is composed of two concerts, filmed in Pamplona and Girona, Spain on 31 May 1996 and 1 June 1996 respectively, originally recorded for a four track EP released only in Japan, also named Skunkworks Live. The band includes Alex Dickson on guitars, Chris Dale on bass and Alessandro Elena on drums. The video was directed by Julian Doyle and produced by Jeremy Azis.
Disc 2
Scream for Me Brazil
Features a live performance from The Chemical Wedding tour. The show is entitled Scream for Me Brazil and was filmed in São Paulo, Brazil in 1999. The footage is not an official recording, but is actually taken from the feed that supplied the screen inside the venue and so is not of the usual quality expected of a live DVD. The band for this show includes Dickinson's songwriting partner Roy Z on guitar, fellow Iron Maiden member Adrian Smith also on guitar, Eddie Casillas on bass and Dave Ingraham on the drums. This was Dickinson's last solo tour before he and Adrian Smith rejoined Iron Maiden.
Disc 3
Includes every promotional video made during Dickinson's solo career, these include;
From Tattooed Millionaire
Tattooed Millionaire (directed by Storm Thorgerson)

The disc also includes two more features, the first being Tyranny of Souls EPK, a track by track breakdown of Dickinson's album Tyranny of Souls, explaining its concept and providing a look at the writing methods used by Dickinson and Roy Z in its creation. The second feature, entitled Biceps of Steel, is an adaptation of the Samson and Delilah Bible story filmed with Dickinson in the band Samson at the Rainbow Theatre in London. It was filmed and directed by Julien Temple who also filmed the Sex Pistols' movie; The Great Rock and Roll Swindle. The feature lasts approximately 15 minutes and was shown in cinemas prior to Hazel O'Connor's Breaking Glass in 1980.

Friday, March 27: Bruce Dickinson, “Silver Wings”
Bruce Dickinson likely tossed off “Silver Wings” fairly quickly, probably with the intent of using it as a bonus track to entice die-hards to pick up his best-of compilation. And it certainly sounded that way, as the song was brisker and less immediately ambitious than anything he had recorded with Roy Z. up to that point. But it actually turned out to be a preview of what Bruce and Roy would deliver on Tyranny of Souls several years later: that album was looser and far less weighty than The Chemical Wedding, and sounded more homemade than anything either the singer or guitarist ever produced before. In the case of “Silver Wings”, much of the power came from Tattooed Millionaire-era drummer Dickie Fliszar (who ultimately did not play on Tyranny of Souls), who played with more frenzy and double-kick power than back in the early ‘90s, though Roy Z.’s riffing followed the template he set on his other albums with Bruce. Ultimately, this was a fun one-off that showed that even when Bruce Dickinson and Roy Z. weren’t trying very hard, they could still toss off an enjoyable cruiser.

Elfeledett jeles mesterremekek 44. - Vamp: The Rich Don't Rock (1989)
Elfeledett jeles mesterremekek 44. - Vamp: The Rich Don't Rock (1989) - https://metalindex.hu/2022/04/01/elfeledett-jeles-mesterremekek-44-vamp-the-rich-dont-rock-1989/ -
Az európai zenészek plusz amerikai származású énekes kombó bizonyos zsánerekben jól szokott elsülni. Függ ez persze a kontextustól is, a talán leghíresebb ilyen kooperáció (Accept “Eat The Heat”) inkább lett hírhedt, de ott a váltás halmozottan terhelt volt (zeneileg is komoly átalakulást eredményezve, a pályájuk csúcsán stb.), amit így – csomagban – a rajongótábor nem fogadott el. Azon csapatokban, melyek eleve így futnak neki a karrierjüknek (pl. White Lion vagy újabban a The New Roses), esetleg viszonylag korán váltottak, mint a Royal Hunt, a megfelelő lazaságot simán be tudják csempészni ezek a frontemberek a hagyományosan fegyelmezettebb zenei közegbe.
Ehhez képest két meglepő dolog történt: a lemeztársaság a korong megjelenésére kihátrált mögülük.

Jack Russell's Great White sails again!
Jack Russell’s Great White sails again!
The best part of reviewing a release when you’re a super-fan of a band is you’ve been given something you WANT to review, the worse part of reviewing a release is you have to be objective and detached from it too. Way too many times I will find myself being too critical and other times I throwing too many accolades on mediocrity. (more…)

Jack Russell’s Great White Unplugged and Totally Uncut
Rather than look backwards and merely attempt to relive the multi-platinum Hard Rock entity’s storied origins, Jack Russell set his sights on the future. In December 2011, Jack Russell’s Great White first bared its teeth. Since its inception, the frontman welcomed back longtime bassist and friend Tony Montana—this time as a guitar player and keyboardist—lead guitarist Robby Lochner, and drummer Dicki Fliszar. Now, this group has a sharp, soaring and slick new album ready, boasting the bluesy Hard Rock stomp that made Russell and Montana icons in the first place.
“It’s a powerful band,” Russell proclaims. “The music comes across very dynamically. It’s what I always wanted it to be. Tony was a catalyst for moving forward. I was never as close to him as I am now. We never had the opportunity to write music together before. I also never knew he played guitar. When I first heard him, I nearly fell of my chair. He’s my copilot. He’s one of my best friends. I wish we would’ve been this close back in the day.”
“It’s natural for all of us,” adds Montana. “There’s a solid chemistry, and we’re having a lot of fun.”
Rounding out the lineup with Lochner and Fliszar and with the more recent addition of Dan McNay on bass, these musicians hit the studio to cut their official full-length debut. It taps into the bluesy bombast and heavy energy of Russell’s celebrated material, but it’s a distinctly modern metallic monster.
“We want the new material to blow people’s ears back,” Russell goes on. “It has the elements of the best Great White music ever written, but there’s an edge. Tony brings that validity, while Robby, Dan and Dicki add a new life. It’s going to surprise people.” Montana agrees, “It’s got the classic sound. The first element is Jack’s voice. No other band sounds like this one ever did or does now. When I was 17-years-old, I remember walking around the UCLA campus listening to the band’s first EP. I was a fan before I ever joined the band. We’re going to maintain that same integrity going forward.”
That integrity became forged over nearly thirty years. In 1984, the band broke out of the Los Angeles scene with its self-titled debut followed by seismic platinum-selling outings such as 1987’s Once Bitten… and 1989’s …Twice Shy. Moving over 8 million copies worldwide, they stood out as tried-and-true rock stalwarts into the 21st century until 2011, when Russell went on to form Jack Russell’s Great White.
Ultimately, the new music is for the millions of fans who stuck by Russell all these years. It’s everything they’ve been waiting for and more.

Featured Album: Jack Russell’s Great White - He Saw It Comin'
Release Date: 27 Jan 2017
In 1984, Great White broke out of the Los Angeles scene with its self-titled debut followed by seismic platinum-selling outings such as 1987’s ‘Once Bitten’, and 1989’s ‘Twice Shy’. Moving over eight million copies worldwide, they stood out as tried-and-true rock stalwarts into the 21st century. In 2011, Jack Russell set his sights on the future and formed his new version of the band, naming it Jack Russell’s Great White.
The frontman welcomed back long-time bassist and friend Tony Montana—this time as a guitar player and keyboardist—lead guitarist Robby Lochner, and drummer Dicki Fliszar. Released a couple of weeks ago, "He Saw It Comin'" is the band's sharp and slick new album. It showcases some of the bluesy Hard Rock stomp that made Russell and Montana icons in the first place. Jack Russell says, “It’s a powerful band. The music comes across very dynamically. It’s what I always wanted it to be. Tony Montana was a catalyst for moving forward. I was never as close to him as I am now. We never had the opportunity to write music together before. I also never knew he played guitar. When I first heard him, I nearly fell off my chair.
