So Maxie Dean survived.
Maxie Dean, played by Robert Goulet, was Chairman of Botco Industries, who the Deetzes were trying to convince to back their development plans for Winter River.
And he suffered this fate. unmute.
In the original film we don't learn whether he and his wife survived.
But during the memorial for Charles at the Deetz's home, Delia asks, "Is that Maxie Dean?"
Interesting the screenwriters mention Maxie. Is it to tell us that he survived? Is it to tie the sequel more firmly to the first film?
There's no mention of the rest of the Deetz's crowd, including Bernard, played by talk show host and some-time actor Dick Cavett.

Delia says, paraphrasing because I don't remember exactly, "Is that Maxie Dean? Why hasn't anyone shown up?"
I wonder if this is Burton noting the members of the original cast who've died? Glenn Shadix (Otho), Robert Goulet (Maxie Dean), Sylvia Sydney (Juno), Hugo Stanger (Old Bill), Simmy Bow (the Janitor, replaced by Danny DeVito). And those still alive but not in the movie: Dick Cavett, Annie McEnroe (Jane Butterfield).
Probably not, but worth a thought.

“This is a song for my man and a song for the moon,” - Joni as she introduces “Willy” on the Dick Cavett Show 55 years ago today. A heartfelt tribute to Graham Nash, whose middle name inspired this beautiful tune. Via Facebook.
