Uterine Fibroids: Causes, Symptoms, and Best Treatments
Uterine fibroids, medically known as leiomyomas or myomas, are non-cancerous tumors that grow in the muscular tissue of the uterus. These benign growths are a common concern for women of reproductive age, with studies indicating that up to 70-80% of women may develop fibroids at some point in their lives. What Are Uterine Fibroids? Uterine fibroids are dense, firm masses of muscle and…

It's endometriosis awareness month! Here's some general knowledge on my condition, as misinformation is constantly spread about it.
Endometriosis is a disease affecting 1 in 10 people with uteruses. A tissue similar to the endometrial lining, of period blood, grows and sheds on the outside of the uterus. As the menstrual cycle comes, the blood has nowhere to go. This causes intense pain and irritation to surrounding organs. It is one of the most painful diseases recorded.
Endometriosis was first discovered in 1860, though it was recognized in the Hippocratic Corpus around 4,000 years ago. Treatments have varied through the years, starting out with bloodletting, leeches, hanging upside down, exorcisms, genital mutilation, and chemical douches. During the Middle ages, the perception of chronic pelvic pain shifted from a recognized condition to something caused by hysteria, promiscuity, or it was made up. In the hayday of Hippocratic practice, Endometriosis was more common than it is today, likely due to the inaccessibility of diagnosis compared to 4,000 years ago. Somehow.
Today, treatments include birth control, surgery, hysterectomy, and pain relief. There is no cure.
It takes an average of 7-12 years for someone to receive a diagnosis.
Anyone can get endometriosis, including cis men
A hysterectomy is not a cure, as endometriosis will continue to grow and spread to other organs
The pain one experiences due to endometriosis does not correlate with staging. Staging reveals how extensive endometriosis lesions are, not pain. Someone with stage 1 could experience excruciating pain, while someone with stage 4 and frozen pelvis can experience no pain.
Endometriosis lesions are not endometrial lining. The tissue is similar, but not the same. Thus, no one actually knows what endometriosis actually is.
It is only diagnosable through laparoscopic surgery. It can be detected via imaging such as ultrasound or MRI, but more often than not, it isn't seen. You can have completely clear tests up until your surgery and still have even the higher stages of Endo (like me!) (this one was for all you undiagnosed people, you're not crazy!)
Endometriosis is comorbid with many things, including pelvic floor dysfunction, adenomyosis, vulvodynia, uterine cancer and fibroids, ovarian cancer, many autoimmune and inflammatory conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, MS, IBD), and cardiovascular disease.
I've provided links in each point and I deeply encourage you to read my sources, whether you have endo or not. Not enough people understand endometriosis so a lot of us who deal with it don't get grace or compassion, be it in our work lives, relationships, friendships, or family. People with endo, happy endometriosis awareness month.

Why Bree and their family needs your support to survive
First, l'd like to thank you for being here today and very grateful that you're interested in in helping Bree and their family survive.
Early November Bree was unfortunately diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension, causing them to have debilitating tumor like symptoms.
So it's just as if they have a brain tumor in the spot where the extra cerebrum/spinal fluid and pressure is built up but without the physical tumor.
Not to mention before this diagnosis, Bree was already battling over 10 chronic illnesses hat all have no cure, including their new diagnosis. And they are more than exhausted and need chronic support from the community to continue living.
With the additional pressure being pressed on their pituitary gland, as well as their left optic nerve, they have already been showing signs of their health declining due to worsening vision and developing PCOS fibroids, uterine polyps, and ovarian cysts. They have learned that the cause of this is due to their birth control. They've been taking named 'Provera' as well as a combination of the marina IUD.
Bree is aware of the class action that's going on with Depo-Provera injection shot. Bree did not get the shot. They were taking the oral medication and doctors believe with the combination of that with of their IUD is why they are having the extra pressure built up.
Bree needs help regularly seeing their specialist as well as saving up for a surgery they'll be having in January 2025 to continue treatment of their chronic illnesses and hopefully alleviate some chronic pain they've been having daily
Their surgery could cause anywhere between 10,000 and 20,000. Where of course hoping for the least amount possible, but Bree can't go any longer without this procedure.

Blog 1: Chinese Medicine, Me & Food
“A chronic illness turns the patient into a good doctor.”
Chinese proverb
My Experience with traditional Western Medicine
In 2001, I had a complete hysterectomy because I had a seven-pound uterine fibroid. Then in 2002, a needle biopsy of my thyroid was too encased in scar tissue to get an exact diagnosis of the cause of my many symptoms. I had a total thyroidectomy, revealing that I had Hashimoto’s Disease. That surgery, along with thyroid medication, is supposed to end the Hashimoto’s symptoms, but it has not. Getting doctors to believe this to be true proves to be problematic. Their solutions come with risks and side effects I am unwilling to endure.
My Journey
Years of living with digestive issues and other “weird” symptoms has led me to researching and trying measures beyond traditional Western medicine. Therefore, I have been on a journey to become my own health advocate. I have read plenty of articles written by functional medicine practitioners as well as research results from scientific journals.
Over 40 years ago, I gave up alcohol and other mind- or mood-altering drugs. 30 years ago, I gave up coffee and switched to tea. About 15 years ago, I gave up gluten. A couple of years ago, I gave up dairy products other than fermented ones. I have several food and airborne allergies. I have lived on a personalized version of Autoimmune Paleo diet (AIP) for many years.
Where I am at Now
I have had periods of no digestive problems throughout these years. But they are back along with other unhealthy symptoms. Frankly, I am tired of giving stuff up! Since I have had success with acupuncture in the past, I decided to try a more comprehensive Chinese medicine approach. I have an upcoming appointment with an acupuncturist and met with her about Chinese medicine herbal remedies. She gave me many references to consult.
What I Will Share with You
I am going to take a Chinese medicine approach to my relationship to food. As I explore this path, I will share with you what I learn, what obstacles I encounter, and what appears to be working.
Please join me.

“In the early 1990s an "adventurous pediatric endocrinologist" in Amsterdam halted the puberty of a thirteen-year-old girl known as "B" by administering to her an off-label drug known as a gonad-otrophin-releasing hormone agonist, or GnRHa.(5) When administered to a child, it pauses the development of his or her secondary sex characteristics. For a girl, this means she will not experience normal breast development, menstruation, or typical fat distribution. A boy, meanwhile, will have lower muscle mass, less facial hair, decreased height, and his voice will not deepen.
At the time B received GnRHa, it was only used to chemically castrate male sex offenders and to treat prostate cancer. It has also been used to treat uterine fibroids and endometriosis in women-but for no longer than six months. Doctors also sometimes prescribed it to treat the rare condition of precocious puberty in children (when puberty begins before age eight in girls and before age nine in boys). However, such drugs were never approved for treating gender dysphoric children who were otherwise progressing naturally through puberty. After all, puberty is not a disease. In fact, the absence of puberty is a disease, known as Kallmann syndrome. When puberty blockers are given to healthy children, physicians are using drugs to induce a diseased state in the patient.”

Understanding Menstrual Disorders: Causes, Symptoms, and Solutions
Tumblr media
Menstrual disorders are a group of conditions that interfere with the normal menstrual cycle, affecting millions of women worldwide, including in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These disorders can significantly impact daily life and overall well-being, yet many women suffer in silence due to stigma or lack of access to adequate healthcare.
If you are experiencing irregularities in your menstrual cycle or unusual symptoms, know that help is available. Let’s dive into the causes, symptoms, and solutions for menstrual disorders, and how online consultations through platforms like CongoRx can provide timely and effective support.
What Are Menstrual Disorders?
Menstrual disorders refer to a range of issues that deviate from a regular menstrual cycle. Common conditions include:
Dysmenorrhea: Painful periods with cramping.
Amenorrhea: Absence of menstruation for three months or longer.
Menorrhagia: Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS): Physical and emotional symptoms occurring before menstruation.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A hormonal disorder affecting ovulation and menstrual cycles.
Irregular Periods: Unpredictable cycle lengths.
These disorders often stem from underlying health issues, hormonal imbalances, or external factors like stress and lifestyle.
Causes of Menstrual Disorders
Several factors contribute to menstrual disorders, such as:
Hormonal Imbalances: Fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone levels can disrupt the cycle.
Medical Conditions: PCOS, thyroid disorders, and uterine fibroids.
Stress and Lifestyle: High stress levels, poor diet, and lack of exercise.
Infections: Untreated pelvic infections are a leading cause in regions like Congo, where access to timely healthcare is sometimes limited.
Addressing these causes often requires a multidisciplinary approach, including lifestyle changes and medical interventions.
Tumblr media
Symptoms to Watch For
While menstrual symptoms vary widely, it’s essential to recognize warning signs that may require medical attention:
Excessively heavy bleeding or passing large clots.
Severe pelvic pain or cramping.
Irregular cycles lasting less than 21 days or more than 35 days.
Spotting or bleeding between periods.
Chronic fatigue, dizziness, or anemia.
If you or someone you know in Congo is experiencing these symptoms, seeking professional guidance is crucial.
Managing Menstrual Disorders
Lifestyle Adjustments:
Maintain a balanced diet rich in iron and vitamins.
Engage in regular physical activity to regulate hormones.
Practice stress management techniques, like yoga or meditation.
Medical Treatments:
Hormonal therapies such as birth control pills or IUDs.
Medications for pain relief and symptom control.
Surgical interventions for conditions like fibroids or endometriosis.
Online Consultation Services: Access to healthcare is a challenge in many parts of Congo. Platforms like CongoRx offer online consultations with gynecologists and specialists, ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment from the comfort of your home.
Why Addressing Menstrual Disorders Matters
In countries like Congo, cultural stigmas around menstruation often deter women from seeking help. Education and accessible healthcare can transform this narrative. With services like CongoRx, women can connect with trusted doctors for compassionate and confidential care, ensuring they don't face these challenges alone.
Take the First Step with CongoRx
Living with menstrual disorders can be challenging, but you don’t have to face it alone. Whether you’re dealing with painful cramps, irregular cycles, or suspect an underlying condition, timely consultation with a healthcare professional can make a difference.
Visit CongoRx today to book an online consultation and start your journey toward better health. Empower yourself to take charge of your menstrual health—because every woman deserves care and understanding.

Unraveling the Enigma: Exploring the Causes of Infertility in Men and Women
Tumblr media
Infertility, a condition that affects millions of couples worldwide, can be a source of immense emotional distress and frustration. While there are numerous factors that can contribute to infertility, understanding its underlying causes is essential for effective diagnosis and treatment. In this article, we delve into the multifaceted causes of infertility in both men and women, shedding light on the complex interplay of biological, environmental, and lifestyle factors.
Causes of Infertility in Women
Ovulation Disorders: Irregular or absent ovulation can hinder conception. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) can disrupt the ovulation process.
Fallopian Tube Damage: Blockages or damage to the fallopian tubes can prevent the egg from reaching the uterus for fertilization. Previous pelvic infections, endometriosis, or surgery may contribute to fallopian tube issues.
Uterine Abnormalities: Structural abnormalities in the uterus, such as fibroids or polyps, can interfere with embryo implantation and development, leading to infertility.
Age-related Factors: As women age, the quantity and quality of their eggs decline, making conception more challenging. Advanced maternal age is a significant risk factor for infertility.
Causes of Infertility in Men
Low Sperm Count or Quality: Issues with sperm production, motility, or morphology can impair fertility. Factors such as hormonal imbalances, genetic conditions, and lifestyle choices (e.g., smoking, excessive alcohol consumption) can affect sperm health.
Varicocele: A varicocele, an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, can lead to decreased sperm production and quality. It is a common reversible cause of male infertility.
Testicular Factors: Conditions such as undescended testicles, testicular trauma, or infections can impact sperm production and function, contributing to infertility.
Ejaculatory Disorders: Disorders affecting the ejaculation process, such as retrograde ejaculation or erectile dysfunction, can hinder the delivery of sperm during intercourse.
Seeking Help from a Male Fertility Doctor
For couples struggling with infertility, consulting a male fertility doctor, also known as a reproductive urologist or andrologist, can provide valuable insights and guidance. These specialists are trained to evaluate and treat male infertility issues, offering diagnostic tests, fertility evaluations, and personalized treatment plans to address underlying causes and improve reproductive outcomes.
Conclusion
Infertility can stem from a myriad of factors affecting both men and women. By understanding the potential causes of infertility and seeking specialized care from a male fertility doctor specialist, couples can embark on a journey towards achieving their dream of parenthood. With advancements in reproductive medicine and personalized treatment approaches, there is hope for overcoming infertility challenges and building a family.

Being a woman is literally so frustrating and scary.
I wish everyday I wasn't born a woman, and not in a trans dysphoria way but in a I am constantly in pain and have medical issues that come back unstudied women's reproductive health issues.
My period had been going on longer then usual and heavier then usual.. I've felt sick and fatigued. It runs in the family. My mom had issues too.
I don't have Insurance or a ton of money so I wouldnt even know where to begin for a diagnosis.
Could be endometriosis or uterine fibroids.
But looking stuff up hasn't helped. I'm tired, nauseated and scared. God I'm so scared. I don't know what my body is doing or why. I don't know how to get help and I can't find anything online that isn't 'drink more water and don't be fat!"
I hate it.

Tumblr media
Lower back pain is a prevalent concern among females, significantly impacting daily activities and overall quality of life. At Synapse Spine, we recognize the multifactorial nature of this condition and provide tailored treatment options that address its root causes. Understanding the underlying factors contributing to pain in the lower back is essential for effective management.
Common Causes of Lower Back Pain in Females
Lower back pain in females can stem from various physiological, lifestyle, or medical conditions. The most common causes include:
Hormonal ChangesHormonal fluctuations, particularly during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, can contribute to inflammation and discomfort in the lower back. The release of certain hormones like relaxin during pregnancy can loosen ligaments, leading to instability and pain.
Gynecological IssuesConditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, or uterine fibroids can cause referred pain in the lower back. These issues often coexist with symptoms like pelvic pain and irregular menstruation.
Poor Posture and Lifestyle FactorsSedentary lifestyles, prolonged sitting, or improper posture can strain the lower back muscles, leading to chronic discomfort. Additionally, improper lifting techniques or carrying heavy loads can exacerbate the condition.
Muscle and Ligament StrainOveruse or sudden movement may strain the muscles and ligaments in the lower back. Activities like strenuous workouts or minor injuries can trigger inflammation and pain.
Spinal DisordersSpinal conditions, including herniated discs, scoliosis, or degenerative disc disease, are common contributors to lower back pain in females. These disorders can cause nerve compression, leading to radiating pain and restricted mobility.
Recognizing the Symptoms
Lower back pain in females may present with a range of symptoms, depending on the underlying cause. Key indicators include:
Persistent or sharp pain localized to the lower back region.
Radiating discomfort into the hips, thighs, or legs.
Stiffness, particularly in the morning or after prolonged inactivity.
Reduced flexibility or difficulty in performing everyday tasks.
Numbness or tingling sensations in the lower extremities.
Diagnostic Approaches at Synapse Spine

Hope and Solutions for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL), defined as the loss of two or more consecutive pregnancies, is a deeply emotional experience for couples. It can leave individuals feeling disheartened and uncertain, but there is hope. With advancements in medical science, treatments for recurrent miscarriage are improving, offering new possibilities for couples who have experienced multiple pregnancy losses. In this article, we will explore the causes, diagnostic processes, and the most effective recurrent pregnancy loss treatment options available, including insights from Dr. Pranathi Reddy Gynecologist, one of the leading experts in recurrent pregnancy loss treatment.
Understanding the Causes of Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Recurrent pregnancy loss is not always a random event. Several factors can contribute to this condition, and understanding the root cause is crucial for determining the appropriate treatment. Genetic abnormalities in one or both parents are a common factor, which may result in miscarriages due to chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus. Additionally, uterine abnormalities, such as fibroids, a septate uterus, or scarring from previous surgeries, can hinder a pregnancy from implanting or developing properly.
Hormonal issues also play a significant role in RPL. Progesterone deficiency or thyroid disorders can prevent the body from maintaining a pregnancy, while immune system disorders, like antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), can increase the risk of blood clotting and placental complications. Lifestyle factors, including smoking, obesity, and excessive alcohol consumption, may also contribute to RPL. In many cases, the cause remains unexplained, even after thorough investigation.
Diagnosis: Identifying the Root Cause of RPL
The first step in addressing recurrent pregnancy loss is an accurate diagnosis. A thorough assessment by a recurrent pregnancy loss specialist in hyderabad, like Dr. Pranathi Reddy Gynecologist, is essential to uncover the factors affecting pregnancy. Typically, the diagnostic process includes:
Genetic Testing: To check for chromosomal abnormalities in either parent or the fetus.
Imaging Studies: Ultrasounds, hysteroscopies, or MRIs can reveal structural issues within the uterus that may be affecting implantation.
Hormonal Blood Tests: These can help identify imbalances in key hormones like progesterone or thyroid hormones that might prevent a pregnancy from sustaining.
Dr. Pranathi Reddy Gynecologist, known for her expertise in recurrent pregnancy loss treatment in hyderabad, utilizes the latest diagnostic tools and techniques to ensure a thorough evaluation, offering couples a personalized approach to managing RPL.Dr. Pranathi Reddy Gynecologist is highly regarded for offering recurrent miscarriage treatment in hyderabad that combines medical intervention with lifestyle guidance, ensuring a holistic approach to overcoming RPL.
Advances in Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Treatment
The field of recurrent pregnancy loss treatment has seen significant progress in recent years. One promising area of research is stem cell therapy, which is being explored to enhance uterine function and improve the chances of a successful pregnancy, particularly in cases where no specific cause can be identified. In addition, advancements in genetic testing and immunological therapies are providing more personalized and effective treatment options for couples struggling with RPL.
Best Choice for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Treatment
Choosing the right recurrent pregnancy loss specialist in hyderabad is critical to finding the best treatment plan. Dr. Pranathi Reddy Gynecologist stands out as one of the best recurrent pregnancy loss treatment doctor in hyderabad, offering a comprehensive approach to care. With a deep understanding of the emotional and physical challenges faced by couples experiencing RPL, Dr. Reddy combines advanced medical treatments with compassionate care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for her patients.

Understanding Uterine Fibroids: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments at Digvish Hospital
Uterine fibroids are a common health concern for many women, particularly during their reproductive years. These non-cancerous growths, which form in or around the uterus, can vary in size and cause a range of symptoms. At Digvish Hospital Banashankari, we specialize in diagnosing and treating uterine fibroids with compassionate care and advanced medical expertise.
What Are Uterine Fibroids?
Uterine fibroids, also known as leiomyomas or myomas, are benign tumors composed of smooth muscle and connective tissue. They can grow inside the uterine cavity, within the uterine wall, or on the outer surface of the uterus. While the exact cause of fibroids remains unclear, factors such as hormonal imbalances and genetics are believed to play a role in their development.
Symptoms of Uterine Fibroids
Not all women with fibroids experience symptoms. However, for those who do, the severity can vary widely. Common symptoms include:
Heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
Pelvic pain or pressure
Frequent urination or difficulty emptying the bladder
Constipation
Pain during intercourse
Lower back pain
Enlarged abdomen resembling pregnancy
If you experience any of these symptoms, it is crucial to consult a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis.
Causes and Risk Factors
While the precise cause of uterine fibroids is not fully understood, several factors may increase the risk:
Hormones: Estrogen and progesterone stimulate fibroid growth.
Genetics: A family history of fibroids increases your risk.
Age: Women between the ages of 30 and 50 are more likely to develop fibroids.
Lifestyle Factors: Obesity, high blood pressure, and poor diet may contribute to the development of fibroids.
Diagnosis of Uterine Fibroids at Digvish Hospital
At Digvish Hospital Banashankari, we use advanced diagnostic tools to identify uterine fibroids, including:
Ultrasound: A non-invasive imaging technique to visualize fibroids.
MRI: Provides detailed images to determine the size and location of fibroids.
Hysteroscopy: A minimally invasive procedure to examine the inside of the uterus.
Treatment Options for Uterine Fibroids
The treatment for uterine fibroids depends on factors such as the size, location, and severity of symptoms. At Digvish Hospital, we offer a range of effective treatments:
Medication: Hormonal therapies to regulate menstruation and shrink fibroids.
Minimally Invasive Procedures: Options like uterine artery embolization or radiofrequency ablation.
Surgical Treatments:
Myomectomy: Removal of fibroids while preserving the uterus.

Understanding Congenital Uterine Abnormalities
Congenital uterine abnormalities are a range of disorders that result in the uterus’s incorrect creation, development, or fusion at the time of fetal growth. Such disorders crucially affect the fertility capabilities of women. Diva Women’s Hospital is highly dedicated towards helping women dealing with such problems.
What Are Congenital Uterine Abnormalities?
Congenital uterine abnormalities are considered congenital defects that affect the structure of the uterus. These abnormalities occur when there is ineffective uterine development at the time of the embryonic period. Such abnormalities can range widely in various types, from minor structural variations to more noticeable deformities. Typical kinds include:
Septate Uterus: The uterine cavity is partially or totally divided by a fibrous band.
Bicornuate Uterus: The uterus is shaped like a heart and is separated into two chambers.
Unicornuate Uterus: The uterus has a single cavity because only one side develops properly.
Didelphys Uterus: This condition causes the uterus to grow into two distinct chambers.
nonexistent or hypoplastic uterus: The uterus is either nonexistent or undeveloped.
To ensure the most effective treatment for women, it is necessary to comprehend the types. As in most instances, these conditions are often ignored until a woman suffers from a few consecutive abortions or has fertility issues, there is a necessity of early diagnosis. Early diagnosis is key.
Symptoms and Diagnosis
In accordance with one’s genetic or personal biological disabilities, some women may well not have any clinical symptoms at all, while others might suffer from such issues as:
Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), the thickening of the cervix or fibroids
Abnormal fertility with frequent miscarriages
Difficulty in becoming pregnant
A higher instance of miscarriages than expected or premature births
It is dependent on the specific type of abnormality felt. For instance, a partially divided uterus could result in a preterm birth, whereas a septate uterus could cause loss of baby during pregnancy. A careful examination will be useful in recognizing these signs and seeking a consultation with a medical practitioner.
Congenital uterine anomalies are usually diagnosed using imaging methods such as:
Ultrasound: Another procedure that can be performed in order to study the anatomy of the uterus without surgical intervention.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging): produces very detailed images of the uterus.
Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are used to visualize the uterus and evaluate it by means of a minor cut in the abdomen and the cervix.
Besides confirming the presence of abnormalities, these diagnostic tools help in making the right decisions. These disorders and pregnancy outcomes are better when diagnosed early.

Treatment Options
The kind and degree of congenital uterine anomalies determine how they should be managed. Typical methods include the following:
Surgical Correction: Individuals suffering from structural deformities such as a septate uterus are offered hysteroscopic metroplasty correction. This correction is laparoscopic and offers solutions to restoring normal uterine activities.
Fertility Treatments: For women at reproductive age that are failing to conceive, one of the options that they’re provided with is IVF (In Virto Fertilisation). These therapies provide a remedy to the anatomical problems and improve the chances of becoming pregnant.
Monitoring High-Risk Pregnancies: Several women have distinct irregularities of the uterus and for these women, exclusive obstetric care is required in order to facilitate the best outcomes of a pregnancy. Setting up preventive measures and having regular checkups can help in protecting against possible complications.
It is advisable to reach out to credible specialists who can craft tailor-made approaches as per the requirements and medical history of the patient in question.
Counselling and Psychological Impact
There are congenital anomalies where the women are born without a formed uterus, which could be hard to cope with emotionally. The loss of pregnancy over a period of time or the inability to conceive has been a source of anxiety or anger in many patients. They clearly see the significance of mental health and, therefore, at Diva Women’s Hospital, they offer counseling services for women throughout the treatment.
