Happy Halloween everyone! This is a lot of kids’ favorite holiday because they get to dress of up as they favorite characters and go get some candy! But do you know what your kids are eating besides sugar when they pop a piece of Halloween candy in their mouth?
According to Food Babe, here are some Halloween info guide on some spooky 👻 Halloween ingredients in candy. Yuck. 🤢
Artificial Flavors – Made from cheap toxic chemicals derived from petroleum along with solvents, emulsifiers, flavor modifiers, preservatives that aren’t labeled, so you don’t know what you’re really ingesting.
Artificial Colors – Also derived from petroleum, these dyes are linked to hyperactivity in children and some cancers.
Caramel Color – The most common form is made from ammonia and contains the chemical 4-MEI which is classified as a possible carcinogen. Why add this to chocolate and caramel that is supposed to be naturally brown anyway?
Vanillin – This artificial vanilla flavor is made from wood or petrochemicals.
Partially Hydrogenated Oils – The main source of trans fat in our food that contributes to heart disease. It’s so harmful to our health that even the FDA has stepped in and is requiring companies to remove this ingredient within 3 years – but until then you can still find it in Halloween candy!

Well, to quote the post I found “Switch Witch strikes again and the girls LOVED their treats!!
Five years ago I decided to start a tradition for our girls because let's be honest, while trick-or-treating is a ton of fun, they don't need (nor will they eat) all of that candy.
They were super excited to go out last night and also just as excited for the Switch Witch to come while they slept! (They talk about her like they do Santa and love telling everyone about her!)
Not familiar? Here's how it works:
🎃The girls have a blast trick-or-treating
🎃When they come home they each have a bag (Frankenstein) that they get to fill with their favorite sweets that they will keep (this year they totally filled it up!)
🎃Any candy that is left is put in a bag/pumpkin and left at the front door
🎃During the night the Switch Witch will come for the sweets, take the candy to little boys and girls who didn't get any, and leave our girls a treat for being kind!
PS Mom & Dad will take a few out of the discard bag that we think the girls wanted but didn't pick! 😉
Edit: You can do whatever you want with the other candy. A lot of dentist offices will take it. We choose to find a couple of little ones that didn't get to go for some reason (in years past it's been because of being in the hospital, sibling is sick, etc) and then I either mail it to them or the Switch Witch has even brought it back one year with the address and names of 3 siblings to help her deliver it to. 🧡🖤
