Writing Notes: Art Deco
Tumblr media
Art Deco - a style of decor and architecture that peaked in international popularity in the 1920s and 1930s and includes modern design elements combined with sophisticated craftsmanship.
The design movement is further characterized by geometric shapes and a bold color palette; the use of metals or metallic details; glam fabrics with patterns; and figures from Greek and Roman mythology.
Depending on the geography and time period referenced, it can vary widely.
While early styles were bursting with often clashing colors, the Great Depression ushered in a more minimalist approach and muted some of the excesses of the initial art deco designers.
The deco era has experienced a resurgence in recent times, thanks in part to Hollywood films that heavily feature the aesthetic, such as Chicago (2002) and The Great Gatsby (2013).
Elements of Art Deco Decor Design
Art deco decor and architecture can vary, but here are some of the characteristics practically synonymous with the style of the deco period, today considered to be somewhat retro in style.
Geometric shapes: Key art deco elements include geometric designs such as sunbursts, which are sometimes deconstructed into circles and triangles; zigzag patterns, which may vary from stacked chevrons to houndstooth patterns; and scalloped patterns, which combine aspects of both sunburst and zigzag shapes. For example, a screen meant to divide a dining room from a living room may feature rounded, scalloped curves at the top instead of flat edges.
Bold colors: Bright colors are characteristic of the art deco style, sometimes appearing in clashing combinations but always in vivid, gemstone hues, such as in colored glass in a sconce or chandelier, or in color-saturated wall decor that draws the eye.
Mythological figures: Figures from Greek and Roman mythology, or heavily mythologized modern stand-ins, feature prominently in art deco interior design, such as posters, light fixtures, and other objects. Art deco artists also flourished in the medium of sculpture, and some of the most enduring symbols of the style are found in sculptures in major cities around the world.
Various metals: Exterior art deco architecture and designs favor the use of chrome and stainless steel, especially in combination with concrete. Smaller works, such as a table lamp, may feature intricate inlays of more precious metals. In the absence of actual metal, art deco styles may include materials or visual elements intended to appear metallic in nature.
Luxurious, patterned fabrics: Art deco furniture upholstery usually features expensive or expensive-looking fabrics and brightly colored geometric patterns to further indicate opulence.
Lacquers and inlays: Finishing touches like a glossy lacquer on a counter or an exquisite, patterned inlay—made of expensive materials like gold or ivory—are representative of art deco in that they are at once sleek and modern while also showcasing a high degree of craftsmanship. Lacquered elements can appear on stools, side tables, coffee tables, or any surface where they will be admired and enjoyed.
A Brief History of Art Deco
Art deco decor and architecture first emerged early in the 20th century, but the style is still popular today.
Emergence in France: Art deco (arts décoratif in French) first appeared in France around the time of World War I, which began in 1914. Art deco was a reaction to the preceding art nouveau period (characterized by intricate, swirling designs)—an effort to bring back elements of traditional art and combine them with modern materials and craftsmanship. The style reached its peak at the 1925 Decorative Arts Exposition in Paris and dominated architecture and interior design ideas around the world.
Divergence of styles: By the late 1920s, the art deco look had split into two different schools of thought and style. The traditionalists wanted to pair the modern forms of home decor and architecture with traditional craftsmanship; the modernists embraced new materials, new technology, and mass production in favor of a more streamlined approach to design.
Emergence in New York: Art deco architecture and visual arts is closely associated with the city of New York, one of the cities where the style first appeared in the United States during the ’20s and flourishing into the 1930s. New York still has many skyscrapers and other examples of art deco architecture, such as Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, and the Empire State Building.
Embrace around the world: Major international cities welcomed art deco design elements into their own decor, art, and architecture, and you can see examples of this style in mosaics, sculptures, and buildings in Brussels, Bucharest, Chicago, London, Mexico City, Miami, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and other cities.

How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
1. How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
Designing a home office that enhances productivity starts with one key factor: choosing the right home office furniture. Whether you’re working remotely full-time or just need a quiet place for focused work, your furniture can significantly impact how efficiently and comfortably you work. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to choose the best home office furniture for productivity, comfort, and style.
2. Prioritize an Ergonomic Office Chair
One of the most important investments you can make is an ergonomic office chair. Spending long hours seated demands proper support to avoid back pain and fatigue.
When choosing an ergonomic chair, look for:
Adjustable height and armrests to align your body properly with the desk
Lumbar support to maintain the natural curve of your lower back
Breathable material to keep you cool during long work sessions
Swivel base and wheels for easy mobility without straining your body
Cushioned seat with adequate depth for comfort without pressure on the thighs
At Evgor Furniture, our ergonomic chair models blend these features with elegant designs suitable for modern home offices.
3. Choose the Right Desk for Your Workflow
Your home office desk should match your daily needs and tasks. A well-chosen desk improves posture, organization, and overall efficiency.
Consider the following when selecting a desk:
Surface area: Do you need space for a computer, notebook, and files?
Height compatibility: Make sure it matches your chair and supports ergonomic posture
Storage solutions: Look for drawers or shelves to store documents and office supplies
Material and finish: Choose a desk that complements your home décor
Cable management: Built-in channels or grommets help reduce cable clut
Evgor Furniture offers desks in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors to suit every style and space.
4. Optimize Storage with Smart Solutions
Clutter is the enemy of productivity. Incorporating the right storage furniture will keep your workspace tidy and mentally clear.
Smart storage ideas include:
Filing cabinets for organizing documents and reducing desk mess
Open shelving units to keep frequently used items within easy reach
Closed cabinets to conceal items you don’t want on display
Wall-mounted shelves to save floor space and add a decorative touch
Multi-functional furniture like desks or ottomans with hidden compartments
At Evgor Furniture, you’ll find modular storage systems that can be customized to your needs.
5. Maximize Natural Light and Add Task Lighting
Although not furniture per se, lighting plays a major role in your productivity. Position your desk near a window to benefit from natural light. For late hours, invest in a stylish and functional task lamp. Proper lighting reduces eye strain and keeps you alert and focused throughout the day.
6. Consider Aesthetics for Motivation
Your office should inspire you. Select furniture that reflects your taste while maintaining a professional feel. Whether you prefer modern minimalism, classic elegance, or a cozy homey vibe, Evgor Furniture offers stylish home office furniture to suit every aesthetic.
7. Invest in Multi-Functional Pieces
For smaller spaces, multi-purpose furniture is ideal. Consider desks with hidden storage or bookshelves that double as room dividers. These solutions not only save space but also contribute to an organized and efficient home office setup.
8. Create Zones for Focus and Relaxation
If space allows, set up distinct zones—one for work and one for short breaks. A small lounge chair or a corner table can serve as a spot to relax between meetings. Zoning helps your brain switch modes, improving overall focus and reducing fatigue.
Selecting the best home office furniture for productivity isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that supports your workflow, health, and motivation. With Evgor Furniture’s wide range of ergonomic chairs, functional desks, and elegant storage solutions, you can create a home office that’s both practical and inspiring.

Which interior style is usually the cheapest to implement: choosing from the 4 main ones
Many homeowners dream of a stylish interior, yet finances often guide their decisions. A well-chosen design can refresh a home and protect the budget.
This article reviews four popular interior styles and determines which one offers the most cost-effective approach.
Renovation expenses can surge if you pick the wrong approach. Selecting a practical style truly saves money.
Industrial Style
Tumblr media
Industrial style features exposed brick, metal fixtures, and reclaimed wood. These elements often come from old warehouses. A Brooklyn loft with original brick walls, visible pipes, and secondhand metal chairs is a real example. Vintage lighting can raise costs, yet leaving surfaces untouched may lower labor expenses. Some homeowners incorporate large factory-style windows to bring in natural light and repurpose old lockers or metal racks as storage. These tactics often reinforce the raw appeal and keep spending within reason.
Scandinavian Style
Tumblr media
Scandinavian design centers on natural light, simple lines, and functional furniture. A small apartment in Stockholm with white floors, streamlined sofas, and birch tables illustrates this look. Neutral-toned rugs and practical storage units maintain a lower budget. Decorative blankets or houseplants add warmth without overspending. Homes in cities like Oslo or Copenhagen exemplify how clean layouts, subtle textiles, and small decorative accents can form a restful atmosphere. Many people appreciate the bright color palette that reduces the need for expensive lighting solutions.
Minimalist Style
Tumblr media
Minimalist interiors showcase an open layout, limited furniture, and sleek surfaces. A Tokyo studio with nearly empty walls, a single sofa, and a low-profile bed shows this concept. Premium materials like smooth concrete can boost expenses, but DIY solutions and reused pieces are budget-friendly. Plywood shelves or basic white cabinets often balance costs. Large mirrors can amplify available light and reduce the number of lamps you might need. This approach suits individuals who value a clutter-free life and prefer simplicity over multiple accessories.
Rustic Style
Tumblr media
Rustic style prioritizes rough-hewn wood or stone. A country cottage near the Alps might feature thick beams, hand-carved chairs, and a stone fireplace. High-quality timber raises prices, yet salvaged barn doors cut spending. Specialized carpentry can add cost. Some rural bed-and-breakfasts demonstrate how natural fabrics like linen curtains and wool rugs integrate well with rough wood surfaces. The overall result is cozy, but material sourcing may require patience if you want authentic pieces.
Costs, Examples, And Practical Lists
Costs hinge on materials, labor, and project size. Many people choose industrial or minimalist as affordable options, though local resources affect expenses. One homeowner in New England converted an abandoned warehouse into a chic industrial loft by acquiring secondhand fixtures at auction. Another individual in rural France renovated a barn in a rustic manner by salvaging aged planks from a nearby demolition site. Each approach balanced creativity with financial control.
Here is a list of factors:
Budget. Always confirm how much you want to spend.
Material sources. Pick local suppliers or secondhand items.
Skilled labor. Check availability of builders or carpenters.
Personal taste. Select a style that fits daily life.
These points guide interior planning. Evaluating local prices and existing spaces helps reveal the best style.
When trimming costs, consider these:
reuse older furniture;
repurpose leftover materials;
compare prices from different shops.
That approach can spark creative solutions, such as using a vintage door as a coffee table or leftover tiles as a backsplash accent.
Cheaper Style Verdict
Minimalist design usually ranks as the least expensive. It needs fewer furnishings, and many parts can be built with simple tools. Scandinavian can be similarly thrifty with basic items. Industrial becomes cheap with abundant reclaimed materials, and rustic can be affordable if old wood is on hand.
Renovation alone might seem tempting, but it's not an easy thing to do. An experienced team knows color schemes and structural nuances. E&A Partners offers professional guidance. Another option might be Johnson Interiors, which coordinates labor and furniture.
Points Worth Remembering
Minimalist style often ranks as the most economical choice. Industrial demands caution with sourcing, Scandinavian emphasizes light colors, and rustic relies on reclaimed treasures. Local resources, DIY tasks, and expert insights strongly influence final bills.
Practical Takeaways For Homeowners
Each style can look appealing without draining your savings. Minimalism typically stands out for lower costs, but other styles remain viable with smart planning. It is wise to review local conditions and pick labor methods that fit your goals. Professional designers can simplify decisions and boost confidence.

How to Design the Perfect Reading Nook
Tumblr media
Creating a reading nook in your home isn’t just about setting up a chair and stacking books. It’s about crafting a sanctuary that reflects your personal style, meets your functional needs, and offers the ultimate space for relaxation and immersion in the world of words. For more inspiration on interior design, visit Kasapros.
1. Choosing the Right Location
The first step in creating a reading nook is selecting the perfect spot. While the options may seem endless, here are a few key considerations:
Natural Light is Key
Why it Matters: Natural light enhances mood, reduces eye strain, and creates an inviting atmosphere.
How to Use It: Place your reading nook near a window to take advantage of sunlight. A sunny spot not only provides excellent lighting for reading but also creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Alternative Ideas: If a window seat isn’t an option, consider using an area with good overhead lighting or add a stylish floor lamp to brighten up the space.
Quiet Corners
Importance of Tranquility: A peaceful setting helps you focus on reading without distractions.
Finding the Spot: Look for a quiet area in your home where you can retreat from the hustle and bustle. This could be an unused corner in the living room, a section of the bedroom, or even a cozy spot under the stairs.
Enhancing Quietness: If your home is noisy, soundproofing options like thick curtains or a decorative room divider can help create a sense of solitude.
2. Selecting Comfortable Seating
Comfort is paramount in a reading nook. The right seating makes all the difference in how much you’ll enjoy spending time there.
Types of Seating Options
Armchairs: A plush armchair with armrests is a classic choice. Look for options with good lumbar support for prolonged reading sessions.
Chaise Lounges: Perfect for those who like to stretch out while reading. Add a soft throw blanket for extra coziness.
Built-in Benches: Window seats or built-in benches with cushions offer a permanent and charming solution for a reading nook.
Choosing the Right Materials
Fabric Choices: Opt for soft, durable fabrics like cotton or microfiber.
Luxurious Touches: If you’re aiming for a high-end look, consider velvet or leather.
Accessories: Don’t forget to add a mix of throw pillows for both comfort and style.
3. The Importance of Lighting
Lighting plays a crucial role in creating an inviting and functional reading nook. Poor lighting can strain your eyes and diminish the cozy vibe.
Layered Lighting Approach
Task Lighting: A focused light source, such as a table lamp or adjustable floor lamp, ensures you can read comfortably.
Ambient Lighting: Use wall sconces or string lights to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Natural Lighting: Maximize daylight with sheer curtains or blinds that can be adjusted throughout the day.
Light Temperature
Warm White Bulbs: Choose warm white bulbs (2700K-3000K) for a relaxing and cozy environment.
Avoid Harsh Lighting: Stay away from overly bright or cool-toned lights, which can feel stark and uninviting.
4. Adding Storage for Books and Accessories
No reading nook is complete without ample storage for books and reading essentials. Here are some creative storage solutions:
Built-In Shelving
Advantages: Built-in shelves around your nook create a library-like feel and maximize vertical space.
Styling Tips: Use the top shelves for decorative items like plants or framed artwork to enhance the aesthetic.
Portable Options
Flexible Solutions: A small book cart or ladder shelf can be a flexible and stylish addition.
Hidden Storage: Consider baskets or storage ottomans for stashing blankets, magazines, or even a tablet.
Minimalist Approach
Wall-Mounted Shelves: For smaller spaces, wall-mounted shelves or floating shelves can keep your collection organized without taking up floor space.
5. Creating a Cozy Atmosphere
The ambiance of your reading nook is just as important as its functionality. Here are some tips to make it feel warm and inviting:
Soft Textures
Layered Comfort: Layer your seating with plush cushions and a chunky knit blanket.
Underfoot Comfort: Add a soft area rug underfoot for an extra touch of coziness.
Colors and Patterns
Relaxing Palettes: Choose soothing colors like soft neutrals, pastels, or earthy tones to promote relaxation.
Visual Interest: Incorporate patterns sparingly through pillows or curtains to add depth without overwhelming the space.
Personal Touches
Decorative Accents: Decorate with items that inspire you, such as framed quotes, artwork, or travel souvenirs.
Functional Decor: A small side table with a scented candle or a vase of fresh flowers can enhance the cozy vibe.
6. Incorporating Greenery
Adding plants to your reading nook brings a sense of calm and improves air quality. Here are some ideas:
Best Plants for a Reading Nook
Snake Plant: Low-maintenance and great for indoor air purification.
Pothos: A trailing plant that adds a touch of elegance.
Peace Lily: Perfect for low-light areas.
Styling Tips
Placement Ideas: Place a small plant on your side table or a larger one in a decorative pot on the floor.
Unique Options: Use a hanging planter or wall-mounted plant holder for a unique look.
7. Enhancing Functionality
While comfort and style are important, functionality should not be overlooked.
Multi-Functional Furniture
Storage Solutions: Choose furniture that doubles as storage, like an ottoman with a hidden compartment.
Workspace Integration: A small desk or foldable table can serve as a spot for jotting down notes or working on a laptop.
Technology Integration
Convenient Charging: Install an outlet nearby for charging devices.
E-Reader Ready: If you’re an e-reader fan, keep a charging dock or cable handy.
8. Designing for Small Spaces
Even if you’re short on space, you can still create a beautiful reading nook. Here’s how:
Space-Saving Furniture
Compact Seating: Use a corner chair with a narrow profile.
Wall-Mounted Shelves: Consider wall-mounted shelves instead of freestanding ones.
Optical Illusions
Mirror Magic: Use mirrors to make the space feel larger.
Light Curtains: Light, airy curtains can make a small nook feel more open.
Multi-Purpose Areas
Closet Transformation: Turn an unused closet into a reading nook by removing the door and adding cushions and shelves.
Unconventional Spaces: Use a section of your hallway or stair landing for a compact and cozy nook.
9. Seasonal Updates
Keep your reading nook fresh and exciting by making seasonal changes.
Winter
Cozy Up: Add heavier blankets and warm tones like deep reds or browns.
Magical Touch: Incorporate string lights for a festive feel.
Summer
Light and Airy: Opt for light, breathable fabrics and bright, cheerful colors.
Natural Accents: Add a vase of fresh flowers for a summery vibe.
10. Inspiration from Real-Life Examples
Here are some creative examples to inspire your design:
The Window Seat Retreat: A built-in bench under a large bay window with a view, surrounded by bookshelves.
Rustic Corner: A reclaimed wood armchair with a plaid throw, paired with a vintage floor lamp.
Modern Minimalist: A sleek leather chair, a geometric side table, and monochromatic decor.
Final Thoughts
Designing the perfect reading nook is a blend of comfort, style, and personal expression. By considering factors like location, seating, lighting, and decor, you can create a space that’s not only functional but also a joy to spend time in. Whether you’re a casual reader or a dedicated bookworm, your reading nook can become a cherished retreat within your home.

Elevate Your Bedroom Style and Functionality with Dressing Sets
When designing a bedroom, functionality and style go hand in hand. While beds and wardrobes are obvious essentials, one often-overlooked yet impactful piece of furniture is the dressing set. A dressing set not only adds a touch of elegance to your space but also provides a practical solution for organizing your personal grooming items, makeup, accessories, and daily essentials.
If you're searching for a way to enhance your room’s aesthetics while keeping everything within reach and neatly arranged, investing in a well-designed dressing set can be a game-changer.
Tumblr media
What Is a Dressing Set?
A dressing set typically includes a dressing table, a matching stool, and an attached or freestanding mirror. Some sets come with built-in drawers or cabinets, offering ample storage for cosmetics, jewelry, hair tools, and skincare products.
Available in a wide range of styles—from sleek modern finishes to classic wooden designs—dressing sets are versatile and suit different interior themes. Whether you have a spacious master bedroom or a compact guest room, there's a set that can fit perfectly into your layout.
Why Every Bedroom Needs a Dressing Set
Here are a few reasons why dressing sets have become a must-have in modern homes:
1. Personal Grooming Station
Having a dedicated space for grooming and makeup enhances your daily routine. Everything you need is within arm’s reach, and the built-in mirror makes getting ready easier and faster.
2. Clutter-Free Organization
Dressing sets come with drawers or shelves that help you stay organized. You can store perfumes, brushes, skincare products, and accessories in one place instead of scattering them across the bedroom.
3. Aesthetic Appeal
With options ranging from sleek high-gloss finishes to rustic wooden styles, dressing sets add elegance to your bedroom. They serve as a design anchor while complementing your bed, side tables, and wardrobe.
4. Multifunctional Use
Aside from grooming, dressing tables can also be used as a writing desk or a console table in compact spaces. Their versatile design makes them more than just decorative furniture.
Choosing the Right Dressing Set for Your Bedroom
When buying a dressing set, keep the following considerations in mind to ensure it fits both your space and style preferences:
Size and Dimensions: Measure the area where you plan to place the dressing set. Consider how much surface space you need for daily use and whether you need extra storage drawers.
Storage Options: Choose a model with enough storage to suit your lifestyle. Some come with deep drawers for bulky items, while others have multiple smaller sections for makeup and jewelry.
Mirror Style: Some sets come with a single large mirror, while others have a tri-fold design for better angles. Pick one based on your grooming routine and lighting in the room.
Material and Finish: Whether you prefer modern white gloss, matte black, or wooden textures, ensure the finish matches the rest of your furniture for a cohesive look.
Stool Comfort: Don’t overlook the stool. A padded, comfortable seat is essential if you spend time seated at the table daily.
Styling Tips for Dressing Sets
To make the most of your dressing set, try these practical and decorative tips:
Use Decorative Storage Boxes: Group similar items in small containers or trays to keep things organized.
Add a Personal Touch: Incorporate elements like a small plant, photo frame, or scented candles to make the space feel personal and cozy.
Good Lighting Matters: Natural light is ideal, but you can also add an LED vanity mirror or table lamp for even lighting during makeup application.
Mirror Placement: Position the dressing set where the mirror catches the most light, helping you get a clear view during grooming.
Ideal for All Types of Bedrooms
Whether you have a minimalistic bedroom or a luxury suite, a dressing set fits right in. For smaller spaces, compact designs with vertical storage options are perfect. For larger rooms, wide tabletops with decorative mirrors add grandeur.

Top best interior design in bedroom Ideas - Create Your Dream Retreat
Your bedroom is your personal sanctuary, a place to rest and rejuvenate after a busy day. The right interior design can turn an ordinary bedroom into a stylish, comfortable retreat that not only looks good but also enhances your well-being. If you're looking to refresh your bedroom with the best interior design in bedroom ideas, we've got you covered with tips that focus on both aesthetics and functionality. Whether you're renovating your bedroom or simply redecorating, these ideas will help you create the perfect space to relax and recharge.
1. Choosing the Right Color Scheme for Your Bedroom
Color sets the tone of any room, especially in the bedroom. Soft, neutral colors such as whites, creams, light grays, and pastels can create a calming and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. If you prefer a more vibrant room, deep, rich colors like navy blue, charcoal, or emerald green can give your bedroom a luxurious and intimate feel. Be sure to consider the size of the room as well—lighter shades tend to open up smaller spaces, while darker hues work well in larger rooms to make them feel cozier.
2. Maximizing Space with Functional Furniture
A well-designed bedroom isn't just about looks; it’s also about maximizing space and functionality. Invest in furniture that’s not only stylish but also practical. For instance, a bed with built-in storage or nightstands that double as reading lamps can help save space while keeping your room clutter-free. Choose multifunctional furniture like ottomans with hidden storage, adjustable tables, and space-saving chairs. When selecting furniture, make sure the pieces fit well in the space without overcrowding the room. Opt for sleek, minimalist designs to maintain a clean and open look.
3. Lighting: Create Ambiance and Functionality
Lighting plays a key role in any interior design, and your bedroom is no exception. The best bedrooms feature layered lighting, combining ambient, task, and accent lighting. Start with soft, overhead lighting that provides general illumination. Add task lighting with bedside lamps for reading or working, and use accent lighting such as wall sconces or LED strips to highlight artwork or architectural details. To create a serene and peaceful ambiance, consider installing dimmable lights, allowing you to adjust the lighting according to the mood or time of day.
4. Incorporating Natural Elements and Textures
Incorporating natural materials and textures into your bedroom design can add warmth and character. Consider wooden furniture, wicker baskets, or stone accents to create an organic, grounded feel. Soft textiles like cotton, linen, and wool can make your bed feel even more inviting. Layer your bedding with soft throws, decorative pillows, and a cozy rug to add comfort and texture to the space. The combination of these elements will create a balanced, harmonious environment where you can unwind and feel at ease.
Conclusion
The best interior design for your bedroom combines style, comfort, and functionality. From choosing the right color palette and furniture to incorporating personalized touches, every detail can help create a space that you’ll love to unwind in.

The Art of Layering: Mastering Textures in Interior Design
Layering textures in interior design is a powerful technique that adds depth, warmth, and visual interest to any space. By thoughtfully combining various materials, you can create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. Here’s how to master the art of layering textures in your home.
1. Understand Texture Basics
Before diving into layering, it’s essential to understand the different types of textures:
Tactile Texture: This refers to how a surface feels, such as smooth, rough, soft, or hard. Materials like velvet, leather, wood, and metal all contribute to tactile texture.
Visual Texture: This is about the visual appearance of surfaces, which can create the illusion of texture. Patterns in fabrics, wallpaper, and art can enhance the visual texture of a room.
Check this page: best interior design company in bangladesh
2. Start with a Base Layer
Begin by establishing a base layer to anchor your design.
Choose a Neutral Foundation: Walls, flooring, and large furniture pieces should start with neutral tones and simple textures. This allows other textures to stand out without overwhelming the space.
Consider Materials: Opt for durable materials like wood, stone, or neutral upholstery that provide a solid foundation for layering.
3. Incorporate Fabrics
Fabrics are one of the easiest ways to add texture to your space.
Mix Textiles: Combine different fabrics, such as cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Use a variety of patterns and weaves to create interest.
Layering Textiles: Use throw pillows, blankets, and area rugs to add softness and warmth. Don’t hesitate to mix patterns—stripes, florals, and geometric designs can all work together.
4. Add Natural Elements
Natural materials can bring a sense of tranquility and grounding to your design.
Incorporate Wood: Wooden furniture, beams, or accents add warmth and organic texture. Consider different finishes, from polished to reclaimed.
Use Stone and Plants: Incorporate stone elements like countertops or decorative pieces, and add greenery with plants to introduce life and texture.
Checkout this page: interior design company in bangladesh
5. Play with Shapes and Forms
Varying shapes and forms can enhance the texture of a room.
Curved vs. Angular: Mix furniture with soft curves (like a rounded chair) alongside more angular pieces (like a square coffee table) to create a dynamic look.
Layered Decor: Use decorative objects of different shapes, such as bowls, vases, and sculptures, to add layers of interest.
6. Consider Lighting
Lighting can dramatically affect the perception of texture in a space.
Use Soft Lighting: Warm, soft lighting creates a cozy atmosphere that enhances the textures around it. Use lamps, sconces, and candles to create layers of light.
Highlight Textures: Focus on lighting that draws attention to textured walls, fabrics, or decor. Spotlights and up-lighting can create dramatic effects.
7. Incorporate Artwork and Decor
Art and decor are essential for adding personality and texture.
Choose Textured Art: Look for pieces with dimensional qualities, such as canvas paintings, sculptures, or textile wall hangings.
Layer Decor: Use shelves or mantels to display a mix of framed art, books, and decorative objects, varying the heights and arrangements for visual interest.
8. Maintain Balance
While layering is about variety, balance is crucial.
Avoid Overcrowding: Too many textures can overwhelm a space. Aim for a balanced mix of soft and hard, light and dark textures.
Create Focal Points: Use textured elements to draw the eye to a specific area, like a beautifully upholstered chair or a striking piece of art.
9. Experiment and Adapt
Interior design is an evolving process.
Test Combinations: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different textures and materials. Swap out pillows, rugs, or decor pieces to see what works best.
Seasonal Changes: Consider seasonal adjustments—light fabrics and bright colors for summer, and heavier textures and warmer hues for winter.
Conclusion
Mastering the art of layering textures can transform your home into a rich, inviting environment that reflects your style and personality. By thoughtfully combining materials, colors, and shapes, you can create a harmonious and dynamic space that feels both comfortable and visually appealing. Embrace the layering process, and watch your interiors come to life!

Main Story Chapter 18-07: Among All of Nature (在萬物之中) | Light  and Night 光與夜之戀
Chapter 18-05
♡———♡
Although I've temporarily moved to my grandma's house, the commute is too long and it's not a sustainable solution.
Using my spare time these past few days, I've looked at a few more apartments, but none of them were suitable. I had to expand my search area and increase my budget.
Luckily, I had good luck today. A small rental house just became available in an alley near my company. Because I'm used to living in a small shop, I really like spacious one-story houses.
With more space, I can store some design materials at home, set up a large table, and create a work area, just like Sariel's studio.
The person showing me the house was an elderly lady with gray hair, who was also the landlord. She owns several properties in this area. She's mentally sharp but has some trouble with her legs. She was a bit unsteady when crossing the threshold.
You: Grandma, let me help you across.
Landlord Granny: Oh, thank you, young lady. When you get old, everything starts to ache.
You: I should be thanking you for showing me the house yourself.
Landlord Granny: I don't like using agents. They don't know the good and bad about this place like I do. I've lived here for decades.
Landlord Granny: I can tell you exactly what time the vendors set up outside, which families have dogs, and whether they bark or not.
-
I nodded with a smile and looked around, noticing that the colors used, from the sofa cushions to the tablecloth and lamps, were quite bold and vibrant.
You: The decoration is so interesting!
Landlord Granny: You young people should like it. A young girl lived here before, and she did it up.
Landlord Granny: I even introduced her to her boyfriend, who lived in another one of my houses.
Landlord Granny: After they got married, they bought a house and moved out together. Before they left, they even came back here to take a photo together.
The granny took out her old phone and scrolled for a while before showing me a photo. It showed a young couple standing at the entrance of the alley with their luggage, both smiling brightly.
But my eyes were involuntarily drawn to a figure in the background. The figure was far away and small, hunched over, wearing an old-fashioned hat, with only a bit of their side profile visible.
They looked like an elderly person. I stared at them, and a strange intuition came over me.
You: No way...
Landlord Granny: Why not? They even gave me a box of wedding candies for being their matchmaker.
You: No, no. Grandma, do you know this person? Do they also live nearby?
I zoomed in on the photo and pointed to the man in the baseball cap, who was almost blending into the gray-blue wall. The old lady squinted and looked for a long time.
Landlord Granny: Oh, that hat... Isn't that Xiao Chen?
Landlord Granny: He's also one of my tenants. He lives in the attic upstairs. He's a tall and handsome young man.
Landlord Granny: It's just that he doesn't dress very neatly, always wearing hats, sunglasses, and masks.
If the hat, sunglasses, and mask were all used for disguise... My heart pounded. I wasn't mistaken. This person must be Charlie!
I've always understood that frequent contact would put him in danger, so I deliberately didn't ask for his address. But that doesn't mean I don't want to know how he's doing.
I clenched my palms and continued to chat casually with the landlord granny.
You: Grandma, can you tell me more about this Xiao Chen?
-
In the old and cozy house, I sat upright at the carved wooden table. The landlord granny placed a bowl of mung bean soup in front of me.
Landlord Granny: Freshly made, young lady, have some.
You: Mmm, okay...
I took a couple of reluctant sips, not because it wasn't delicious, but because the granny was sitting opposite me, looking at me with a cheerful and gossipy expression.
Landlord Granny: Go on, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's perfectly normal to like a handsome young man.
Landlord Granny: Feel free to ask anything you want to know.
It seemed she had misunderstood my intentions from the beginning. But since she said I could ask anything, there was no need for me to correct her.
You: Okay... well, when did Xiao Chen move in?
Landlord Granny: He hasn't been here long, less than two months, but many people around here know him.
You: Why is that?
The granny pointed out the window. Not far away, there was a small cart parked with a wooden board leaning against it. On the board, the words "Fresh Wontons" were scrawled in chalk.
Landlord Granny: Xiao Chen was poor when he first arrived. He couldn't find a job for a while and couldn't even afford the rent.
Landlord Granny: At that time, Old Liu, who sells wontons, injured his arm and couldn't run his stall. So he asked Xiao Chen.
Landlord Granny: He asked if Xiao Chen could help out, two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening, with pay and meals included.
Landlord Granny: The morning shift starts at five, and the evening shift goes until midnight. It's quite hard work, but surprisingly, Xiao Chen agreed.
Landlord Granny: He said he loves wontons and wants to open a wonton stall with someone he likes in the future. He considered this as practice beforehand.
I had just taken a sip of mung bean soup when I heard the words "practice beforehand." I choked and coughed several times. The granny quickly handed me some tissues.
Landlord Granny: Isn't he an interesting young man? He got to know everyone quickly.
I nodded. Charlie being poor was probably because he couldn't go to the bank to withdraw money when he was wanted.
I had imagined his initial days were very difficult, and now that thought was confirmed. But even so, he still bought me flowers. I lowered my eyes, feeling both touched and a bit sad.
Landlord Granny: But later he found a job and seems to be earning a decent amount. He's capable, don't worry.
Landlord Granny: I don't really know what his job is.
Landlord Granny: He's always fiddling with his computer in his room, wearing headphones. I guess he's in the IT industry.
I took a deep breath and nodded in agreement. If I wasn't mistaken, this was Charlie's surveillance plan.
You: Yeah, probably.
Landlord Granny: Come to think of it, no wonder he's so well-informed. He seems to have seen everything online.
That seemed like a stereotype about the IT industry... But Charlie did seem like he knew everything. I couldn't help but smile, feeling a bit curious.
You: What kind of things has he seen?
Landlord Granny: My leg has always had arthritis. I usually listen to health programs on the radio and buy some of the medicines they recommend.
Landlord Granny: Xiao Chen advised me, saying those things are expensive and their ingredients have no medicinal value.
Landlord Granny: I didn't quite believe him at first. I said, Xiao Chen, you're not a doctor, how can you tell?
You: Did you say that...
Landlord Granny: What did you say, dear? I didn't hear you clearly.
"Not a doctor." It was just a casual remark, but it stung a bit when I heard it. It was like being transported back to the night when Sun Taizhong was injured. If Charlie heard it, how would he feel?
You: It's nothing. Please continue. Did you believe him later?
Landlord Granny: I did. He sent me several... what do you call them... expert articles from public accounts.
Landlord Granny: They explained all the ingredients mentioned on the radio and even exposed the false claims about those medicines advertised on the radio.
You: Grandma, do you know the name of the public account? I'd like to take a look too.
The granny took out her phone, placed it on the table, and opened a chat window.
The profile picture in the chat window was a shadow stretched out on the road, surrounded by lush plane trees. It looked a bit like the small road I used to take on my way home from work.
Landlord Granny: I don't know the name, but it's this article. Take a look.
I leaned over to look, and the first thing I saw was a very eye-catching title: "Xianggu Essence Capsules are Fake! Protect Your Wallet!" Below it was the author's name: "Famous Doctor Charlie."
You: Famous Doctor Charlie...
I couldn't help but smile, as if I could see Charlie's smug expression when he typed that name.
I had already guessed it. How could there be such a coincidence that he just happened to have read an article debunking some unknown health product advertised on the radio? It was obviously written by him.
Landlord Granny: So, what do you think of Xiao Chen? Are you satisfied?
You: Uh, satisfied or not...
The sudden question was a bit like picking out pork at the market, but it showed that the granny had a very good impression of Charlie. Under her eager gaze, I nodded.
Landlord Granny: But dear, Xiao Chen is good in every way, except for one thing. You need to consider it carefully.
Seeing me agree, the granny's tone changed, becoming serious.
Landlord Granny: His health seems to be a bit problematic recently. I don't know how he'll be in the future.
You: Really?! What's wrong with him?
Startled, my voice rose a few pitches.
Landlord Granny: It seems like headaches. Once, when I was going out, I saw him, a grown man, squatting in the stairwell.
Landlord Granny: His face was pale, as if he was unconscious.
Landlord Granny: I called out to him several times, and he just asked me if I could pick up his phone from the ground and make a call.
Landlord Granny: I said I'd call 120 for him, but he said no, not 120, and then said forget it, no need to call.
Landlord Granny: It took a long time before he stood up and left. I don't think it's a minor illness.
I froze, feeling a chill all over. When did his headaches become so severe? If left untreated, could there be serious consequences? The thought made my nose tingle with worry.
Landlord Granny: When the time comes, you should ask him about it properly...
The landlord granny was still giving me instructions, but I couldn't respond. Thankfully, a knock on the door interrupted her. She answered and went to open the door.
???: I'm here to pay the rent.
Landlord Granny: Oh, isn't it Xiao Chen?
Xiao Chen - those two words made my ears buzz.
In disbelief, I slowly turned my head. The door opened a crack, and warm sunlight spilled in, outlining a familiar silhouette.
Wearing a low-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and a mask, his expression was hidden, but I could feel that he, too, had frozen in place at that moment.
Landlord Granny: Come in, Xiao Chen, have a seat and some mung bean soup.
Charlie seemed to realize that his hand was still on the doorknob. He gently closed the door and walked in. The wooden stool creaked as he pulled it out, and he sat down beside me.
Landlord Granny: Xiao Chen, do you have a girlfriend?
The granny went to the kitchen to get more mung bean soup. Her voice came through the wall. Charlie Su glanced at me, and somehow, I felt he must be smiling.
Charlie: Are you asking because you want to introduce me to someone?
Landlord Granny: You got it!
The granny placed the bowl on the table. It was from the same set as mine, decorated with dragons and phoenixes, very festive.
Landlord Granny: Xiao Chen, this young lady saw your photo and fell in love at first sight. She came specifically to inquire about you.
You: No, that's not---
Landlord Granny: It's okay, young lady. If you're embarrassed, just pretend this old lady is talking nonsense.
Charlie turned his face towards me. This time, his gaze was intent. Sitting closer, I could almost see through his sunglasses, even the purple in his eyes was blurry, but the overflowing longing and joy were exceptionally clear.
I couldn't help but stare back at him, and we remained like that for who knows how long. The granny reached out and waved her hand in front of us.
Landlord Granny: Xiao Chen, don't stare at the young lady like that, you'll scare her away.
Charlie didn't look away. His voice was sincere and gentle.
Charlie: I think I've also fallen in love with her at first sight.
Earlier, when the landlord granny teased us, I didn't react much. But now, my face instantly turned red, as if we were truly meeting for the first time.
Charlie: What should we do, miss? I want to take you out on a date right away.
Landlord Granny: A date, that's wonderful!
The granny was beaming, unable to contain her smile. She pulled out a few boxes from a cloth bag at her feet.
Landlord Granny: It's just perfect that you're here, Xiao Chen. Take these with you.
Landlord Granny: I listened to your advice and went to the hospital to check my joints. They prescribed some painkillers for me.
Landlord Granny: The doctor said this medicine hasn't been released yet, and only their hospital can prescribe it. It's very effective and can also be used for headaches.
Charlie: Oh? Where was it prescribed?
Landlord Granny: The First People's Hospital.
The box landed on the table. Charlie's gaze darkened. I saw it too. The label on the medicine box clearly read "DEA."
However, only for a moment. Charlie's expression quickly returned to normal. He picked up the medicine box and casually put it in his pocket.
Charlie: I think I've heard that this medicine has some side effects.
Landlord Granny: Really? My husband and several of my friends are taking it. The doctor said it's fine.
Landlord Granny: I'm not sure. I'll go back and look for that public account article later.
Charlie: Don't take it for the next few days.
-
Leaving the granny's house, Charlie and I walked side-by-side down the alley. The entire alley was bathed in the orange-red glow of the sunset. I couldn't help but keep glancing at him.
Charlie: Fiancée, what do you think I should say or do now?
Charlie had already taken off his sunglasses and hung them on his lapel, but he still wore his mask.
You: What did you plan to do when we met again?
Charlie: Just like I said on the phone, I wanted to admire the airship with our names on it together with you.
He looked at the horizon, his voice trembling slightly. But I knew it wasn't a bad kind of trembling.
Because my voice was the same. It meant that our long-awaited hearts had finally found satisfaction.
The granny's words echoed in my mind, along with DEA and his illness. But I didn't have time to ask him about all of that.
I walked around in front of Charlie and reached out to gently remove his mask from his ears.
He had lost some weight, his face was pale, and his features were more defined. I opened my mouth.
You: I finally get to see you again.
Almost at the same time, Charlie leaned down and hugged me tightly.
Charlie: Me too, fiancée, me too.
For a long time afterward, we didn't say anything. We just held each other, feeling each other's breath and the rise and fall of our chests.
We were already very close, but the arms around my back tightened even more, almost painfully so.
You: Charlie, I can't breathe...
Charlie loosened his grip a bit, but not much. His warm breath lingered by my ear.
Charlie: My saint. You're suddenly so close to me, it's a bit overwhelming.
Charlie: Haven't you heard that people who have been hungry for too long can't eat too much at once?
I couldn't help but laugh.
You: Such a simple analogy, is that something Young Master Charlie would say?
Charlie: Why would I need to sweet-talk my fiancée?
He said it matter-of-factly, but to me, it sounded sweeter than any sweet nothings. My eyes stung, and I couldn't help but lightly punch his back.
Charlie: Why are you hitting me?
You: I won't tell you.
Charlie: I know even if you don't tell me. It's my fiancée's overflowing love for me.
I wanted to hit him again, but my face felt hot, and I couldn't bring my raised hand down.
We separated a little. We had hugged many times before, but thinking back to that moment just now still made me feel a bit embarrassed. Charlie probably felt the same way, staring straight ahead seriously.
Charlie: How did you find this place?
Charlie: When I saw you, I wondered if I had stepped into a rabbit hole.
I told him the whole story of how I was looking for a house, saw the photo, and recognized his figure in the background. Charlie raised his eyebrows.
Charlie: I know that photo.
Charlie: Back then, when my father discovered my whereabouts, he sent a few people to find me. They saw it too, but they didn't recognize me.
You: What?! Your father sent people to find you?!
Charlie: Don't worry, I didn't leave them anything except a few empty water bottles.
Charlie: And after they left, this place became the safest place.
I was slightly relieved, but there was still one question.
You: How did they even think of looking at that photo?
Charlie: It seems the landlord mentioned to them that a newlywed couple had moved out.
Charlie: I don't know what kind of information my father gave them, but they were incredibly sensitive to the word "marriage."
Charlie: They thought one of the newlyweds was me.
Charlie looked at me with a playful smile, and I quickly understood why they were so sensitive to the word "marriage." It was because Charlie kept calling me his "fiancée."
Seeing my knowing expression, Charlie let out a long sigh.
Charlie: I thought my disguise was flawless.
Charlie: I never expected that you would recognize me from such a small shadow.
You: Should I pretend that I didn't recognize you, that it was just a coincidence, and let Young Master Charlie be happy about his disguise skills?
Charlie: There's no need.
Charlie lowered his eyes, his curved eyelashes casting a shadow on his face. His thin lips parted, and he said:
Charlie: I'm even happier that you recognized me. I'm going crazy with joy.
Whoa, whoa. An alarm bell was going off in my head. Was it because I hadn't seen him for so long? Why was my heart pounding irregularly? I quickly turned my face away.
You: Okay, Xiao Chen, stop teasing. Didn't you say you were taking me on a date?
Charlie paused for a moment, a flicker of hesitation and sadness crossing his face.
Charlie: Fiancée, actually...
You: We can go anywhere for our date.
I finished his sentence. I had already sensed that after the initial joy faded, something else was weighing on his mind. But whatever it was, I was willing to help.
Charlie stared at me for a while, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.
Charlie: I have an appointment this afternoon with an organization called the Drug Safety Assurance Association.
Charlie: I'm going to talk to them about the side effects of DEA.
You: Great, let's go together.
As soon as I said that, we looked at each other. We had fought side-by-side too many times; there was no need for further explanation or persuasion.
Charlie sighed dramatically and shook his head in mock helplessness.
Charlie: I was relatively inconspicuous on my own, but with such a dazzling fiancée by my side, I'm afraid we'll be discovered immediately.
I knew it was a playful joke, but it did remind me that going together would increase the risk of exposure. I hadn't considered that carefully enough.
Charlie noticed my silence, and his expression turned serious.
Charlie: It seems I made a tasteless joke.
You: No, it's not that. I was just thinking that two people together would indeed...
Charlie took off his sunglasses from his lapel and put them on me. Then he took out a mask from his pocket, opened the package, and put it on me.
Charlie: There's no "indeed." Isn't this better?
I glanced at the mask from the corner of my eye and saw a small bird printed on the lower right corner. Charlie's mask had the same bird printed on the upper left corner.
You: Why are they couple masks again?
Charlie: That's because I've always wanted to play the role of a Bonnie and Clyde duo with my fiancée.
He looked happy. I thought back to his "tasteless" joke earlier. Although it was a joke, I could vaguely sense his inner hesitation.
Just like how he had such severe headaches but never mentioned them to me. Was it because he was worried about me, or was he afraid of making me worry? I tugged on his sleeve.
You: From now on, if you have a headache, call me. Don't hesitate.
It was an abrupt statement, but after a moment of stunned silence, Charlie nodded solemnly.
Charlie: Okay.
I strode forward, pulling his trench coat sleeve long.
You: Let's go! How are we getting there?
Charlie: Let's borrow the steed of Spyders II.

Think beige, cream, taupe, and light gray for walls, furniture, and rugs. You can add pops of colour with artwork, throw pillows, or accent pieces, but keep it minimal to maintain the peaceful feel.
2. Let the natural light flow in:
Natural light is a key element in Japandi design. It helps to create a feeling of spaciousness and connection to the outdoors. Make sure to maximize natural light by keeping windows uncluttered and using sheer curtains or blinds. You can also arrange furniture to avoid blocking sunlight.
3. Introduce an abundance of natural materials:
Japandi style celebrates the beauty of nature. Incorporate natural materials like wood, bamboo, rattan, cotton, linen, and wool into your living room decor. Wood furniture with clean lines, woven baskets, jute rugs, and linen throws are all great ways to bring in a touch of nature.
4. Bring in furniture with organic shapes and functionality:
Japandi furniture is known for its clean lines, simple silhouettes, and functionality. Opt for low-profile sofas, coffee tables with organic shapes, and accent chairs with curved lines. Each piece of furniture should serve a purpose and contribute to the overall harmony of the space.
5. Add interest with soft furnishings and decorative items – but keep it minimal:
While Japandi is all about minimalism, you can still add a touch of personality with soft furnishings and decorative items. Think throw pillows in different textures, a textured rug, or a woven wall hanging. However, avoid cluttering the space. Keep the number of decorative items to a minimum and choose pieces that complement the overall aesthetic.
6. Utilize additional lighting for a sense of coziness:
Just because Japandi is minimalist doesn't mean your living room should be dark. Layer your lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Use overhead lighting for general illumination, table lamps for ambient light, and floor lamps for task lighting. String lights or fairy lights can also add a touch of magic.
7. Fill your space with plants and greenery:
Plants are a wonderful way to bring life and colour into your Japandi living room. They also help to purify the air and improve indoor air quality. Choose a variety of plants in different sizes and textures to add visual interest. Snake plants, fiddle leaf figs, bonsai trees, and ferns are all popular choices for Japandi interiors.
8. Declutter ruthlessly:
Decluttering is essential for achieving the clean and serene look of Japandi design. Get rid of anything that you don't need or love. Invest in storage solutions to keep clutter at bay. Having a clean and organized space will help you to relax and unwind.
9. Incorporate Japanese-inspired ceramics:
Japanese ceramics, such as vases, bowls, and teacups, can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your Japandi living room. Look for pieces with clean lines, natural textures, and muted colours. You can display them on shelves, coffee tables, or sideboards.
10. Embrace the wabi-sabi philosophy:
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that celebrates the beauty of imperfection. It's about finding beauty in the natural world, even in things that are flawed or impermanent. When decorating your Japandi living room, keep this philosophy in mind. Don't be afraid to embrace the natural variations in wood grain or the uneven texture of a hand-woven rug. These imperfections can add character and depth to your space.
By following these tips, you can create a Japandi living room that is both stylish and serene – a perfect place to relax and unwind.
