I get why people are talking about the whole submarine titanic thing.

It's awful.

But I'm here to address a different boat related tragedy.

One that absolutely breaks my heart.

Where a boat of migrants sank off the coast of Greece.

This boat had 300 Pakistanis and more than 500 Syrians.

The boat was carrying migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria and Egypt who were fleeing their countries dire economic conditions.

And we're trying to reach relatives in Europe.

What happened with the submarine is a terrible thing.

I just wish this story got the same coverage.

One is about billionaires the other about people escaping economic disasters.

Both about people losing their lives.

So I’m watching a video by amazingishgrace about her knitting a Chinese top in China. It was about visiting her family back in China and incorporating her culture into her knits.

And I thought that was really neat and it got me thinking about how I could do that with Pakistani culture.

I have 3 ideas so far and they’re all centred around colour work. And that’s because Pakistan is really known for its embroidery.

Maybe to pay more homage to that it could be done in duplicate stitch.

First idea is a jumper with a colour work design from the yoke down to resemble designs I’ve seen on salwar kameez.

Specifically something like these.

Maybe even make the jumper a bit longer to more resemble that of a kameez.

Second idea I was also thinking about using it on jumpers but it could be used for other things. And that’s incorporating colour work designs inspired by the art on Pakistani vans.

The last idea I have so far is gloves with mehndi (henna) designs on them.

But yeah that’s all I got I don’t really have any ways of going about doing em. I have not done colour work in a long arse time.

But I think it’s a fun concept and I love these so who knows maybe I’ll try doing one of em one day.
