Dermot Seymour at Kevin Kavanagh

Tonight, I attended the opening of Dermot Seymour's 'The Nine Primates of Ulster' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dublin 8. The event began with Dermot conversing with Martin Mackin before answering questions from an audience about his work. Afterwards, the atmosphere was relaxed with plenty of chat.

Each of Dermot's paintings featured the portrait of a different species of money or ape. He did not specify any of these species in the titles of his paintings. The faces and eyes of these animals were painted in sharp expressive detail while their shoulders and background appeared more blurred and abstract. I liked 'Primate of Cavan' and 'Primate of Monaghan' due to their compositions. Dermot's show will run until 12th Oct 2024.

Love is on repeat is this romantic comedy. When the object of veteran playboy Henry's heart is set on Lucy, he discovers she suffers from short-term memory loss; she can't remember anything that happened the day before. It still stings that he left her just before their wedding. Jeffrey is the groom's best man, so Kat can't help but try and make him jealous. The tables turn when Kat starts falling for her escort. However, things turn for the worse when Kat discovers the reason Jeffery left her.

Spicy food and major allergies start this couple on a whirlwind relationship.  Actuary Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) thought he had the perfect life when he married his girlfriend Lisa Kramer (Debra Messing).  She cheats on him during their honeymoon and his world crashes around him. To help him recover his best friend Sandy (Philip Seymour Hoffman) invites him to a party, where he meets an ex-classmate, Polly Prince (Jennifer Aniston). Polly shows him there's more to life than neuroses.
