I'm sorry but I have to repeat it again:
"appreciate YOU, buck"
He said YOU, not it, YOU.
He's not talking about buck helping him in that specific moment, he's talking about buck IN GENERAL.
And he says it OUT LOUD. To buck and himself.
I know as an audience we know that. Hell- they know it too.
He's shown it over and over again across the seasons.
But he's never actually said it out loud THIS DIRECTLY.
No reading between the lines, no big gestures, just a plain, casual, undeniable "appreciate YOU".

Ok so you remember that time Eddie got shot and asked Buck if HE was okay because he noticed the blood on his shirt?
Yeah…I do too.

watching st denis medical w my mom and it’s revitalizing my desire for a mocumentary style episode so badly
especially if it was during a hypothetical secret relationship buddie period and we get like a janine/greggory from abbott-esque joke of buddie being like “we’re trying to keep it a secret” and then it cuts to the rest of the crew or like jump cuts through the rest of the 118 and they’re all like “we know. we’ve known since they got together. they’re not subtle, like- at all”
especially if it like kinda focuses the background firefighters too bc it’d be so funny to hear them bitching about the mains getting all the credit for everything/commenting on the wild bs they have to put up with from all the drama in their lives etc.

Honestly I don't even feel the urge to write anything about it because this is INSANE. Tommy telling Buck Eddie was his competition? Maddie asking if it would be crazy for Buck to be IN LOVE with his best friend? Buck being in denial not because he's not in love with his best friend but because said best friends is STRAIGHT?
If we wrote ANY of that we would be considered INSANE because there's no way that actually happened oN SCREEN
I feel sick

Do you think when Buck opens the door to Eddie coming back he just . Thinks about what Maddie said and what Tommy implied and what HE said himself about BEING IN LOVE WITH EDDIE and he just . Feels it and STILL denies it . What if he does this . What then . What if it's awkward cause Buck's just trying NOT to feel and think about how loving Eddie is like . GUYS .

I seriously don't get how Eddie defenders are arguing that he's not aggressive as a character trait and that we're all ugly ole racists to say that he is.
Eddie DOES use aggression and violence to deal with grief. That IS one of his character traits, and it's not even necessarely a "bad" character trait, in a fictional sense. It can be interesting. Me personally, the lack of growth through the seasons deeply puts me off, but if you don't mind then go ahead and stan Eddie all you want. Plenty of my favourite ships have beaten each other to a bloody pulp or involve extremely flawed characters. The refusal to accept he has a deep seated vein of aggression that we have seen explode several times in the show is what is deeply concerning, and the fucking belittling of people uncomfortable with his aggression is even worse.
To stay in the 911 universe, somehow nobody ever thought to call Mateo Chavez aggressive. Maybe he's not brown enough? Or maybe he's never joined an underground fight ring to be allowed to punch people, punched walls with a child in the house, beat a dude over a parking space and got all up in his grieving friend space waving a finger in his face because he's not doing grief in a way that makes him feel comfortable, hm?
But I guess if other B*ddies belittle people's feelings comparing Eddie and 911 to fucking Shameless messed up, violent characters it's all fine, that's exempt from the latino=violence equivalence that nobody's but them keep repeating (and despite until last week 911 being their cutesy whimsical show that was oh so ruined by character death).
But after all, all opinions are accepted as long as they're under the umbrella of the Eddie and B*ddie cult.

I just realised. When Eddie does move back up and Buck doesn't find an apartment in time, they're going to be living together. Which means they're going to have duplicates of the same stuff like paintings, cutlery, lamps, chairs and sofas.
They are going to have to work out which things stay and which go. And the sofa takes up the most room obviously so that's going to be a main topic. Yes, Buck's couch is still pretty new but I can still see him being fine with selling it. Maybe because he just never really liked the look of it, found it comfy or there was just something about it that didn't sit right with him. He didn't use it often anyway so it doesn't matter.
When Eddie and Chris have completely moved in and all the furniture and stuff have been sorted out, Buck actually starts using the sofa more than he did with his own. I mean we all know Buck likes Eddie's sofa anyway but Buck has never fallen asleep on the sofa so much until now.
Here, we have the couch theory back again and will pretty much be solved once Eddie and Chris finally move back home

i know everyone is going to explain away what happened in the episode in whatever way makes the most sense to themselves. but it is really bothering me when i see people say “buck and eddie are fighting” over and over. because what the fuck did buck do? he literally didn’t do anything? eddie came in wanting to fight. he (again) brought up some of buck’s deepest insecurities, and (again) was the one being self-centered and unable to see anyone else’s point of view. i don’t know why eddie always turns to anger but it’s so frustrating to repeatedly see how he barely tolerates buck and buck is expected to just accept it because they’re “best friends”

When he processes the words, its almost audible, the click into place.
He said you were competition.
Oh.
It should be ridiculous; the idea that Eddie was ever competition for Buck and Tommy’s relationship. He and Tommy had been friends. He and Buck are best friends and they have been for years.
They’ve been through so much together and okay, yeah, maybe the closeness they’ve grown into could make someone feel like they’re competing for attention. Buck has been there for some of his worst moments, they’ve laughed and cried and fought together. Buck has been there for his kid - over and over again a support he could count on. And he did.
He chose Buck as the one person he trusts most with his entire world.
And oh isn’t that just.
Something.
It’s something and ridiculous isn’t the word he can use, doesn’t want to use, suddenly.
Because it should be crazy, the idea that he’d be competition for a relationship with his best friend but he finds that. Huh.
It doesn’t feel all that crazy.
He glances back at Buck, his mind a whirlwind while he processes and accepts and realigns, all within a very short moment that feels like it’s been extended across years.
Because it has and how did he not see this.
Something in Eddie’s expression must give some of his thoughts away, Buck’s eyes widening just a fraction. Theres a flash of something crossing Buck’s own expression and it’s something, not ridiculous and. Maybe he was competition.
He feels himself settle, the chaos of a moment replaced with surety and peace. Because nothing really changes here does it? Some things, maybe but not a lot. Not the important stuff.
He locks eyes with Buck and sees that something in his eyes grow stronger, brighter, and he quirks his mouth up a little. He lets out a soft huff that could almost be a laugh, if it didn’t come out just a little on the side of breathless.
“I think I won.”

I think every single queer person can confirm that most of us had that one friend who we were (mostly unknowingly) secretly in love with and a little too close to and the next step to that friendship was almost always being jealous af when they had other friends who they were getting close to
Now granted most of us were like 11 when we had this weird very gay friendship that we look back on like OHHHH THATS WHAT THAT WAS but you know what? buddie are just slow on the uptake
Fr tho TIMOTHY? Why are you using gay ass experiences for eps? Like this is as common a gay experience as uhaul lesbians (who buddie also are- yes they’re men that doesn’t matter🙄👋) ANSWER FOR YOUR CRIMES TIMOTHY
