There's something about the idea that gods change according to belief.
There's something about Aphrodite having to drop her sword and shield and pick up a makeup brush and mirror.
There's something about Zeus's Crown overtaking his hospitality.
There's something about Ares being scrubbed of his care with blood.
There's something about Hera's care being thrown in her face because of her cruelty.
There's something about Dionysus having his artistry and wildness ripped away from him due to his partying.
There's something about Hermes losing his chthonic connections in favour of his trickery.
There's something about Demeter surrendering her fierce, protective love and power over life and death to become a hysterical mother.
There's something about Athena's femininity and protectiveness fading to make her grip her spear and grasp her thoughts tighter.
There's something about Hephaestus forgetting his creations' finesse and intricacy to focus on pure function and efficiency.
There's something about Poseidon's earth-shaking rage that causes waves to rise above the tallest mountains being reduced to occasional vengefulness.
There's something about Apollo giving up his herds and truth and wisdom and plagues to speak the future and heal the wounded through song.
There's something about Artemis turning from children and childbirth to fixate on the wilderness.
There's something about the idea that gods change according to belief.

All right, ok, LISTEN. I don't know who needs to hear this, but I'm pretty sure that some people do. It's ok to hate Percy Jackson because it depicts the Greek Gods in a terrible way. Rick Riordan has the creative license to write them however he wants, but it's still fine to be annoyed at how they're portrayed.
It's ok to hate the fact that PJO wasn't in Greece and that the explanation for why it was in America was terrible.
It's ok to hate the fact that Zeus, Hera, Ares, Athena and a whole lot of other gods were portrayed in a negative light.
It's ok to be furious because Ares is a bad parent in PJO.
It's ok to tear your hair out over the way Artemis and her hunt were written.
It's ok to be angry that Athena had children with mortals when she was a virgin goddess in the myths.
It's ok to be angry that Hades cheated on Persephone in PJO (even if you like Nico and Bianca and Hazel. It's fine to do both).
It's ok to be angry that Persephone and Demeter don't have a good relationship and that Demeter is largely painted to be an overbearing, helicopter mother.
It's ok to resent the fact that Artemis, the former's hunt and Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and another virgin goddess, were portrayed as literal CHILDREN despite there being no reason for Rick to do that.
It's ok to be annoyed with the fact that Poseidon was sanitized when he could've been such a morally gray character.
It's fine to cry about the fact that Aphrodite was largely reduced to a stereotypical, modern cartoonish version of RomANtiC lOvE when she was the goddess of LOVE, not just ROMANCE, SEX AND BEAUTY.
It's ok to like Trials of Apollo but want to smash things because Apollo was depicted as an incompetent dumbass. It's ok to seethe at the fact that Zeus was portrayed as an abusive father to Apollo when in the myths, he was quite loving.
It's ok to do this because PJO is one of the if not THE MOST major media that depicts Greek Mythology. It's basically a Greek Mythology fanfiction MODERN AU. And yes, it's helped thousands of children and adults and made them feel better, and it's almost as popular as Harry Potter for a reason. But it's still fine for Greek people, Hellenistic Pagans and even people who aren't Greek or Hellenistic to be angry with how Rick Riordan is continuously bastardising the Greek Gods and making them look more and more of a joke.
A lot of people who got into Greek Mythology used PERCY JACKSON as their first reference, and while Percy Jackson is a great start for venturing into Greek Mythology- PLEASE, PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THAT PJO GODS ARE NOT AS ACCURATE AS THE ORIGINAL.
POSEIDON IS NOT THAT GOOD.
HADES IS NOT SO VILLANOUS.
ATHENA IS NOT SO COLD AND UNCARING. SHE'S A MAIN PATRON OF HEROES AND RARELY ABANDONS THEM EVEN AFTER THEY'VE COMMITTED WAR CRIMES
DIONYSUS IS NOTHING LIKE HIS PJO COUNTERPART.
ARES IS A GOOD FATHER.
DEMETER AND PERSEPHONE HAD A BEAUTIFUL, LOVING RELATIONSHIP.
HERA IS NOT SO HORRIBLE. SHE HAD HER GOOD MOMENTS
ZEUS WAS NOT THAT BAD IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY AND HE WAS ALSO A CARING FATHER. HE SENT BLOOD RAIN DOWN TO MOURN HIS SON SARPEDON WHO WAS FATED TO DIE.
I know this sounds like I hate PJO, but I really do like the series. It's fine to like PJO and its characters while also disliking how the gods were portrayed. It's ok.

I genuinely like the concept of Ares having sunglasses in RR’s world. Although it would be pretty sick if the other gods did it too. Like a sign of divinity.
Like the flameo part of Ares, I predict is his like true form that he hides under his glasses?
It would like provide like a gap between even the gods and the demigods. Like yeah, they look and sound human but they’re not. They’re still divine beings.
Like example, Hera would have a veil or something like that. And with the big three. It would add a difference sense like.. they’re the big three. If they wanted to talk to their children they would come in person. But otherwise you could hear their whispers in a thunderclap, a wave or earth’s rumble.
Like being faceless adds another part of godliness iykwim

Leo Valdez with the cabins
Cabin 1: Zeus. Jason and Thalia Grace. Leo thinks Thalia is hot and Jason is Jason. He loves them. Gets along very well. He would also be in love with any other potential children of Zeus.
Cabin 2: Hera. He probably tried to blow up the cabin. Dumb prophecy.
Cabin 3: Poseidon. Things aren't the best between Leo and Percy all of the time. They have a lot of rough patches. But they do enjoy being friends and working together. Just pray that Poseidon doesn't have any kids Leo could take an interest in. Then he'd be dead.
Cabin 4: Demeter. Not great. Fire and plants. They want him to stay away from their gardens. Leo tries to build sprinklers and fountains and entire greenhouses to get them to be more open to him. They appreciate it, but they won't let him in no matter what. They like him outside of their gardens and calm.
Cabin 5: Ares. Leo is the kind of kid that the Ares cabin would bully. But as soon as they find out he's the first son of Hephaestus with fire powers since 1666, they do not mess with him. They're typically nice to him, and he definitely is confused. They stop other kids from picking on him. Like, his bodyguards. They are not risking getting lit on fire. He tries to make friends with them. They give in eventually.
Cabin 6: Athena. They actually get along pretty well most of the time. Athena kids are the gifted kids of the demigod world. And Leo is a genius. He's been doing college level math since he was like 8. He and the Athena kids will get together to work on engineering projects. Every other time, they think he's very distracting. But they're some of the very few people who recognize his intellect. They make him feel understood to an extent in a way not many other people do.
Cabin 7: Apollo. (I don't remember what happened with him in TOA.) The medics in the Apollo cabin are not big fans of him. He blows stuff up a lot. He put people in dangerous situations. People get sent to the infirmary because of stuff he did all the time. Will Solace definitely has told him off once. The other Apollo kids love laughing at his antics. Leo does a little bow to them afterwards and walks off, laughing. He loves the Apollo kids.
Cabin 8: Artemis. The hunters of Artemis scare him. Thalia Grace. He'd totally want them to like him though.
Cabin 9: Hephaestus. Leo gets along really well with all of his siblings. They all work together in bunker 9 building whatever they find the most entertaining. Of course, sometimes they have to remind him that they actually have a job to do. They all have to watch out for each other, and they do.
Cabin 10: Aphrodite. Piper is absolutely his bestest friend. Sleepovers? Yes. Annoying the shit out of the rest of the Aphrodite kids? Of course. What else do you expect? The rest of the cabin does find him endearing, but they wouldn't ever do anything with him. Just friends. Oh and the makeovers. Leo wears makeup every single day purely because he lets the younger Aphrodite campers practice on him and he doesn't want to insult them by taking it off. And he feels fabulous in it. He is.
Cabin 11: Hermes. Oh boy, does Leo love the Hermes cabin! Travis and Connor Stoll playing pranks on Leo. Leo playing pranks on Travis and Connor Stoll. He messes with them so much. And they all enjoy it. Very much fun. 10/10. Leo's besties.
Cabin 12: Dionysus. They also get along great with Leo. The Dionysus kids invite him to their parties and he IS the party. Table dancing, party tricks with his fire powers, and just being reckless in general. There's no alcohol, but with Leo Valdez in attendance, there might as well be. His fun, carefree energy rubs off on people. And the parties help him forget about his problems. He doesn't have to think about his mom's death for a couple hours. He always thanks the Dionysus kids after a party. They don't really understand why he's thanking them when he was the best thing at the party, but they go along with it.
Cabin 13: Hades. Hazel obviously likes him cause of Sammy Valdez and all that. Nico wouldn't have a problem with him if he knew him better or spent any time with him at all. Any other Hades kids may or may not. They would totally think his fire powers are badass, though.
Cabin 14: Iris. I don't think they'd appreciate his jokes very much. He would love to build them a massive projector to put rainbows on everything. They don't really talk to him though. They think he comes off too strong. Despite being some of the nicest demigods at camp, they don't realize what's behind his goofy demeanor.
Cabin 15: Hypnos. The Hypnos kids might know more about him than any other cabin. Leo definitely had trouble sleeping at night after being on the streets his entire childhood. Like every other demigod, the Hypnos cabin is happy help. They'll take Leo in and let him talk about his problems until he falls asleep and then they chase away his nightmares. He accidentally woke up in the arms of one of the Hypnos girls and got kicked out for a while. But they always welcome him back in.
Cabin 16: Nemesis. Honestly, he's probably kinda scared of the Nemesis kids. He played a prank on one or two of them and definitely regretted it. But then they came around to him. Like Jason, they recognized that Leo did a lot of good despite so many bad things happening to him. So they looked up to him too. They refused to let any other campers pick on him. They checked in on him a lot, knowing that he was probably struggling with something. But they were too scared to pry, so they never really got to know that side of him. He didn't understand why they treated him that way, but he liked it. And he liked them.
Cabin 17: Nike. He wasn't very happy with their mother. But he tried to get along with them at first. He played a few jokes on them. But then they came back with so much harder, trying to turn it into a competition. He absolutely regretted messing with them. It was to the point that he started avoiding them out of fear that they would do it again.
Cabin 18: Hebe. The Hebe kids figured that because he's a hero, he should be looked up to. And he definitely flirted with them a lot. And they did like him, but it was more of a platonic thing. They liked his carefree demeanor, but he wasn't the kind of hero they were looking for in the long run. They were chill with each other though.
Cabin 19: Tyche. Leo prayed to Tyche kids after being convinced that he was cursed with his fire powers. He thought that his mom's death was his fault and he was terrified of being the reason anyone else died. He was hoping the Tyche kids could give him enough luck to not kill anyone. The Tyche kids can't exactly receive prayers becuase they're not gods, though. And Leo never killed anyone. So he assumed it worked, and the Tyche kids had no idea that anything was happening. He would thank them everytime he ran into one and they would give him a confused look, but they never questioned it. So Leo and the Tyche cabin were on good terms.
Cabin 20: Hecate. The Hecate cabin gets along great with him. They like to enchant his inventions, making them much more powerful. They encourage him to file for patents and be an actual inventor. He always blushes and brushes it off, claiming he's going to be an engineer and he doesn't need to make all this fancy new stuff, but he's just trying to hide the fact that he's very flustered and prideful. He tries to flirt with them, but he kinda breaks when they flirt back. At one point he was convinced he was going to marry a child of Hecate. But the Hecate kids tend to push him to work until he breaks down, physically unable to work anymore. Yet he's very grateful for them.

sometimes i wonder how demigods are treated because of their parentage (in the riordanverse):
children of the big three feeling outcasted in a camp for outcasts simply because of their power
(another note: what if other demigods feel resentful because children of the big three get better treatment)
people being wary of children of hermes ever since luke’s situation
(hc: after luke admitted to being a traitor nobody would look any of the children of hermes in the eye for a month)
children of ares feeling like they have to fit the stereotype of being the brute/bully to be acknowledged or even seen as a bit powerful
children of aphrodite being seen as “weak” even though those who have charmspeaking could literally bend people to their will
people avoiding children of athena because hubris is their main fatal flaw and they often come off as “know-it-alls”
children of apollo (who are healers like will solace) that are seen as inferior because they heal and not fight
children of minor gods having to deal with practically being insivible/ignored (if they hear “who?” one more time while introducing their godly parent)
children of demeter being boiled down to “plant lovers”
children of hephaestus whos stereotype is literally “fire and machines”
children of dionysus who have to deal with people constantly mocking their father behind his back because he’s “the weakest olympian”
i mean CHB is a place full of kids-teenagers,there’s no way that there isn’t gossip and drama there

So ive been thinking about demigods having different powers based on their parent's eiphets
And i made Katie Gardiner a daughter of Demeter Erinys definitely not to go with my headcanon of the Stolls being sons of Psychopomp Hermes.
For background Erinys was a 'cult' title given to Demeter, it means wrath or fury. It was given when she was mourning the loss of Persephone and dressed in black and hid in a cave to grieve.
Since Demeter is the goddess of farming that her grief caused things to start dying and basically winter and famine to happen.
Thats the short version. I left a few things out, like how Zeus sent the literal Fates to go help her out and moderate her grief and how she also got the eiphet of Lousie (bather) because she bathed in a river to purify herself afterwards.
So basically my idea is that Katie can make shit rot. (She also probably has really bad seasonal depression but that ain't a super power) and possibly have a tiny bit of control over winter?
Gods dammit Rick just utilize the gods' eiphets. You have so much untapped potential there

about the godly parent quizzes…
am i the only one to continuously get different answers, even on the same quizzes? i float between hypnos, zeus, aphrodite, nemesis, hades, hecate, and demeter but half of those don’t feel like me? is this a me problem or is this a common thing for everyone?

We ruined Demeter and Persephone's relationship.
The thing is, Demeter and Persephone had a beautiful relationship. And modern pieces that depict Greek culture simply just……….ruin it. Lore Olympus, Percy Jackson, Blood of Olympus, Hades even. It's disheartening that we're so misogynistic that we can't just let a mother and daughter love each other without complications or trauma. No, we have always have to make Demeter the controlling, overprotective, helicopter mother and Persephone the rebel daughter. It's disgusting, frankly, and I would love to see a piece of media where they simply have a loving, functional relationship.

Thinking about my godswap AU a little more, specifically about Annabeth and Grover. I think I want Annabeth to either be a child of hades, ares, or Aphrodite?? I could honestly see Ares or Aphrodite a bit more seeing as they’re both seem to have very emotional demigod children. I thought of Hades because of this one fan art I remember seeing so??
I also thought of Zeus for Annabeth so maybe Zeus? I think in this AU the big three pact may not be a thing so it gives me more freedom for sure. I’ve also thought about giving her a minor godly parent so any suggestions are welcome.
As for Grover I’m not sure. Honestly I don’t have alot ideas. I’ve either thought of:
- Keeping him a Satyr
- Demeter Child?
- Child of Silenus (God of Drunkenness, Forests, and Mine-Making, also tutor of Dionysus)
I feel like I could do alot of cool things with Grover if I made him a demigod but these are all just thoughts.
EDIT:
Please comment your thoughts I’d appreciate them 🙏🙏
