#Demand Response

Oh hey look, something relevant to what I do. The big thing in green energy now is Demand Response - managing power in such a way that the above doesn't happen. It comes down to ingesting a whooooole fuck ton of non-standardized data sources, determining a baseline that energy companies can work with and then hopefully catching outliers before they become a problem and alerting those companies fast enough.
The baseline is easy. The outliers... less so. Sure, some outliers are easy (high temperatures mean increased draw because AC). Others... aren't (bomb threat sends entire school districts home).
And depending where you live, the power grid failures are the least of your problems. Like in California where a blown transformer can. Uh. Burn down half the state.
So yeah, DR is a fantastically finicky business to be in.
No guesses for how it's going.

Commercial and Industrial Energy Storage Market Insights Includes Dynamics Overview, Demand, Products, and Application 2017 – 2032
The commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage market refers to the market for energy storage systems specifically designed for commercial and industrial applications. These systems help businesses and industries manage their energy consumption, reduce peak demand charges, improve grid stability, and enable renewable energy integration. Here is an overview of the commercial and industrial energy storage market, including its demand:
Market Overview: The commercial and industrial energy storage market has experienced significant growth in recent years. The increasing adoption of renewable energy sources, rising energy costs, and the need for grid flexibility and resilience have driven the demand for energy storage solutions in commercial and industrial settings. Energy storage systems provide benefits such as load shifting, peak demand management, backup power, and participation in demand response programs.
Demand Drivers:
Cost Savings and Energy Efficiency: Energy storage systems enable businesses and industries to reduce their electricity costs through various mechanisms. These systems can help manage peak demand, optimize energy usage, and store excess electricity during periods of low demand for use during high-demand periods, resulting in reduced electricity bills and improved energy efficiency.
Grid Services and Demand Response: Commercial and industrial energy storage systems can provide grid services such as frequency regulation, voltage support, and peak shaving. These services help improve grid stability and reliability, while also enabling businesses to participate in demand response programs, where they can curtail their energy usage during peak demand periods and earn financial incentives.
Renewable Energy Integration: With the increasing adoption of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, commercial and industrial energy storage systems play a crucial role in managing the intermittent nature of these resources. These systems can store excess energy generated from renewables and discharge it during periods of high demand or when renewable generation is low, ensuring a reliable and continuous power supply.
Backup Power and Resiliency: Businesses and industries require reliable and uninterrupted power supply to protect critical operations, data centers, and manufacturing processes. Energy storage systems provide backup power capabilities, allowing for seamless transition during grid outages or disturbances, ensuring business continuity and enhancing resiliency.
Environmental Sustainability and Emissions Reduction: The commercial and industrial sector's increasing focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility has driven the demand for energy storage solutions. These systems enable businesses to reduce their carbon footprint by shifting to cleaner energy sources, optimizing energy usage, and participating in grid-level decarbonization efforts.
In summary, the commercial and industrial energy storage market is driven by cost savings, energy efficiency, grid services, renewable energy integration, backup power, resiliency, and environmental sustainability. The demand for energy storage systems in commercial and industrial settings is expected to continue growing as businesses and industries seek to optimize their energy usage, reduce costs, and achieve their sustainability goals.

I always think it's funny whenever I post about an issue that directly affects me and someone responds with "you're an idiot that doesn't know what you're talking about" and I have to be like. Hello. This is my demographic. Do you see this label here? Guess who falls under it OH RIGHT it's me. Maybe I like. Have some amount of idea of what I'm talking about considering this is sampled directly from my life experiences. Just a thought.
#This is besides the point that I don't think I should have to whip out a label just to prove that I'm right#Not just bc there's ppl who are wrong about shit who still fall under that label#See: antiblack black ppl and misogynist cis women#But also bc like. No actually you don't get to demand my personal information just to measure if I have more arguing power#If you disagree with me then you should widen your information search and obtain information from many sources under the same label#And then make a determination of if I'm right or wrong#Otherwise you get the 'well kanye's black and he said-' responses#Whereas if these folks had actually looked into kanye's controversies they'd see that his antiblackness has been discussed for yeeeeears

There is a cyclic tragedy inherent to Mori's character wherein he's actually a deeply lonely man, but it's mostly because his resolve to do morally reprehensible things and think of people as pieces on the game board is something he prioritizes over his relations with those very same people, and this inevitably pushes them away (for very understandable reasons). And it kind of sucks honestly because the most frustrating thing about Mori is that he 100% has the potential to be a fantastic teacher and mentor, and more than that, I think he loves it! Just look at Beast! But for as long as he decides he needs to be the one to make "the hard calls" to "preserve peace", then Mori will inevitably continue in this cycle of alienating all the people he has a fondness for.
I do feel as though Mori's loneliness is something he views as a necessary sacrifice that he is making for the greater good (and if he is so willing to sacrifice, then Dazai's unwillingness to do the same comes out of left field because - "what do you mean? you're supposed to be just like me!").
Anyways.
Mori voice: "I'm so alone"
Also Mori: *continues to prioritize pure logic over the emotions of his people and himself*
The people: *get rightly angry and/or become extremely traumatized and leave him*
Mori voice: "I did what needed to be done"
Mori: "..."
Mori: "..."
Mori: "I'm so alone"
Sir. You are doing this to yourself.
#thing is he works well as a mafia boss because those people who take orders know in advance they are going to be commanded#to do whatever is necessary#mori has cultivated strong bonds of loyalty so people like hirotsu and tachihara have no issue with doing what is demanded of them#since that is just what you do in the mafia.#but for people mori is closer with. his actions frequently feel like betrayal to them. because that may be how you treat a soldier#but it's not how you treat a child a mentee or a friend.#the thing i want to know is why he thinks being ruthless in the service of yokohama's peace is his own personal responsibility#in the first place#bsd#bsd mori#bsd meta#<- sort of. i'm mostly just rambling#storyrambles

"The entire plot of Dandadan is about recovering a guy's balls"
Yeah, but.
Manga spoilers a little - aren't you forgetting the fact that touching said balls would make a person susceptible to ghosts AND a target for aliens? At some point it becomes more of a "finding and disarming a spiritual superweapon" than anything to do with the guy in question actually wanting his balls back.
He accepts the fact that his balls have to return to him. Eventually. For the good of humanity.
The question of his own attachment to said balls is very much up for debate though - and I think THAT is the best part
#come on don't you remember the very first episode#when the Serpo demand “banana organs” Okarun says he was always ready to give anything if it means having a (alien) friend#ironically that's pretty much what happens in the larger narrative#friends obtained; balls lost; no aliens directly responsible for either#and I don't think he could have been any happier with such a deal#dandadan#dandadan spoilers#dandadan manga
