i just had the most perfect idea for a deltarune concept.
basically you play as Spamton after snowgrave, he was able to escape his frozen neo suit though the head opening, and he finds berdly frozen up, and he basically frees them and now Spamton and berdly are trying to survive a never ending snowstorm, while meeting some survivors from snowgrave, like tasque manager (which also becomes a main member of your party), a weird Virovirokun, and Spamton old pal the blue Addison (which I will be naming blue).
they also meet a little FRIEND during their journey, I won’t say who tho… but they sure like to pretend..
Anyways i might call this weird au i came up with “DELTARUNE after the snowstorm”. I honestly really like the concept and I might think of more stuff for it, maybe some more concepts, or even a mock up video?? Idk, but I do wanna make more of this idea

can we talk about something.
because. okay, look. the way that i’ve come to understand dess’s disappearance is:
she went into the bunker.
inside the bunker is another dark world. the “original” dark world, so to speak.
i believe she discovered the dark world on her own, after fiddling with and eventually breaking the lock on the bunker doors over the course of several days. she was just curious about what was inside. excited, she tried to bring asriel, noelle, and kris along to show them the amazing world inside the bunker. due to circumstances i’m about to get to, only kris and possibly noelle made it in with her.
something went wrong, and only kris (and noelle, if she was there, and for the rest of this post i’m going to just roll with the idea that she was) made it out. noelle ended up repressing most of the incident, while kris retained enough of it to try to tell people about the world inside the bunker. no one believed them, but the place just... feels a bit haunted now. it was already creepy enough before it became associated with dess’s disappearance. i’m more or less certain that if snowy hadn’t interrupted them, monster kid would have said, “what if there’s really another world in there?”
side note: i think there’s a good chance that kris, until recent events, was starting to believe the world in the bunker was just a dream, too. but now they know it really was real. now they might know where dess is. (double side note: i don’t think kris is the knight who opened the fountains in the supply closet and the abandoned classroom. that was someone else. who? idk. they might have been the one who opened the fountain in the library, though.)
the night of the bunker misadventure just so happened to be the night of one of the worst blizzards hometown has ever seen.
the snow started coming down about halfway to the bunker. dess reassured everyone that they would be fine and could wait it out there; they just needed to hurry; she seemed so confident and so sure, that everyone chose to trust her judgement. unfortunately, the storm got worse very quickly. it became hard to see, and for little kris and noelle, it was hard to keep up in the wind. the group began to separate. kris and noelle ended up at the bunker with dess, while asriel got turned around and started walking back towards town, where he ran into the frantic search party comprised of all their parents, undyne, and some other adults.
i’m pretty insistent on dess’s disappearance coinciding with a snowstorm but not really having anything to do with it because, for one, it offers an explanation for noelle’s seemingly trauma-related response to the cold (that one customer in the store saying she sometimes just stands with the freezer door open, staring inside). and if there was a snowstorm the same night she vanished, then—well, it’s easy to declare the cause for her disappearance, isn’t it? it’s strange that a body was never found, but if monsters in deltarune turn to dust after death (i’m still not convinced they necessarily do), then maybe it’s not so strange. in the strong winds, her dust would have been long gone. or: who knows what wild animal could have gotten a hold of her?
that’s just the official declaration, though. that doesn’t mean everyone in hometown buys it. but that’s besides the point.
and mainly i insist on this because now we have a very interesting parallel to draw between her and berdly in the snowgrave route. both “vanish” in a terrible, terrible snowstorm. (i don’t think it’s a coincidence that the visuals for snowgrave look like a blizzard.) but i was thinking about it, and we can take the parallel further actually.
we are all more or less in agreement that it’s pretty damn likely that dess is stuck in the void/code of the game like gaster is. there’s a good chance that she’s the voice in the strings that’s calling for help. so, going off of how i interpret her disappearance—if she’s just in a dark world, that doesn’t make much sense, right? how did she get into the void from there? and even if no one believed kris’s story, the bunker would have been searched. like, the “world inside the bunker” bit sounds like a stretch, but any reasonable adult would conclude that the kids probably tried to take shelter in there. but if the bunker had been searched, then they would have discovered the dark world in there, right??
okay, well. what if the fountain had been sealed?
i’m not sure who/what/how. i’m leaning towards some kind of freak accident. it seems that kris’s process for sealing the fountains is pretty automatic, so maybe if they were just... brought too close to it. maybe this is where their issues with their soul started. i don’t know. what i do have an idea of is this: the two times we’ve seen a fountain sealed, it “cleans up” a bit. the lightners are brought back into their world in a way that makes sense, either to them (noelle and berdly thinking they’re waking up from an accidental nap) or to anyone who might walk in on them (kris and susie looking like they just hung out in the old classroom playing chess and old board games). it’s a combination of intent and whether the lightners believe the dark world is real or not. so when dess uses all of her strength to pick up noelle and kris and shove them out of the world that’s crumbling away into nothingness, at her own expense, they are quite literally shoved out of the bunker and into the cold snow outside, quickly falling unconscious due to shock and because they probably hit their heads, and the double doors of the bunker swing shut behind them.
and dess is swept away with the dark world. she’s now stuck in-between the worlds of light and dark. she exists, and yet, she doesn’t. she has gaster for company, and yet, she doesn’t.
the snowgrave route has raised the question of what happens when a lightner’s soul is stuck when a dark fountain is sealed. what if the popular theory for dess’s fate is our answer? i think berdly’s case would be different in a lot of ways, for a lot of reasons, but the core of it remains the same. he’s stuck between existence and nonexistence, able to be reached through what is—from our perspective but who knows what it is from an in-universe perspective—the code of the game.
perhaps because he is a lightner, he is a little more There, a little more consistent, than gaster’s fragmented self. dess has someone to talk to. someone who happened to be her little sister’s close friend, someone who can tell her about the person noelle has grown into over the years. someone, who can tell her that something is wrong.
could be interesting if, together, they found a way to tear through the boundaries of reality and broke into a future dark world. i’m not sure how they would manifest, because while i’ve settled on dess retaining her body, years in the void has caused her to become a little more..malleable. kinda like mr. goop-i-mean-gaster. and the idea with berdly is that because his body was frozen in the dark world, his consciousness/soul/self/whatever you want to call it was separated and thrown into the void. he’s not physical, at all. but all that just opens the door to some fun design possibilities, doesn’t it? :)
#finally. an interpretation of That part of the snowgrave route that doesn't make me so upset i get nauseous. god#deltarune#berdly#dess#december holiday#snowgrave#hehe. normally this is the part where i write a secret second essay in the tags but i think i got out everything i wanted to say in the post#it's a miracle! that never happens!#definitely going to be tinkering with this concept here and there. because like. it's way easier on my brain and i can handle it#and i like the idea of berdly and dess becoming void-bound buddies quite a lot.

Deltarune theory -Noelle killed Dess and Asgore took the blame
Based off of evidence gathered primarily from chapter 2′s pacifist and snowgrave route, this theory states that Noelle accidentally froze Dess to death and Asgore was fired from the force because of it. Throughout each mention of Dess, it is always in past tense. While it is possible that she might of moved away, we are given indication or mention of Dess’s current situation. It is instead through Berdly’s anecdote about how Noelle broke down after being asked to spell December do we learn of Dess’s fate. We already know that Dess is short for December from earlier when we spelt it out with Noelle. Furthermore, we know it can’t be from stress. While Noelle is presented as an anxious individual, she was still able reach the finals and December is not a particularly hard word to spell. Nor can it be due to simply missing Dess in the same way that Kris does with Asriel. Based off of Noelle’s and Birdie’s age as children in the flashback along with the assumption that Dess is around Asriel’s age than Dess should of still been present in her life. So ruling those out and based off the intensity of Noelle’s reaction, Dess must of died sometime before the spelling bee. As to the cause of Dess’s death, I do not believe that Asgore was in anyway directly responsible for it, accident or not. Rudy still holds Asgore in good regards nor is he in prison. Considering that Noelle’s mother is mayor (who we’ll call Carol here) as seen through the similiarities between our various characters mention the two, then if Asgore was directly responsible for Dess’s death than he’ll likely be in prison. So no, Asgore has nothing to do with Dess’s death. It was Noelle who was the one who killed Dess due to stress triggering her ice magic. When we check out the frozen aisle section at Sans’s grocery store, we learn that Noelle would often stare blankly into the frozen aisle section. Then, if you play the Snowgrave route, the several instances in which Noelle uses her ice magic on a strong scale such as with the puzzles, the shopkeeper and finally Berdly, it always triggers due to some sort of stress and involves her blacking out during it. While we know that magic isn’t as prevalent among monsters as it is Undertale, we know it still has to exist in some manner due to Catti mentioning how she was doing research on occult stuff and magic at the diner. Noelle’s magic in the light world likely isn’t as strong as it is in the Dark World but it still would of been enough to kill someone especially during winter. Noelle likely killed Dess when a stressful situation triggered her ice magic. The exact cause is difficult to assume. However, based of Dess’s desire to leave for the big city and how their mother can be hard, I believe that Dess tried running away and Noelle ended up tagging along. The two quickly became lost during which the fear and stress that Noelle would of been experiencing triggered her ice magic and blacking out. Carol, not knowing where her daughters are and with an unexpected snowstorm, orders Chief Asgore to send a search party for them only to instead find Dess’s body and Noelle unconscious in the snow. Carol, blaming Asgore for failing to find Dess in time, forces the Police to remove him leading to a rookie Undyne to suddenly being given the position of Chief. Asgore also blaming himself would end up cutting ties with Rudy unable to confront him due to his guilt and is likely one of the factors which lead to his and Toriel’s divorce. Noelle meanwhile would of have no recollection of the event instead believing everyone else that Dess froze to death thus also developing a trigger for extreme cold. So in short, Noelle accidentally killed her sister with ice magic and Asgore instead takes the blame for failing to find them in time.

it's been a while so i wanna bring back genshin ik except this time... she's a fatui harbinger. basically it's the seelie whisperer au but diverted
so imagine this. ik runs away from her home in liyue harbour at a young age because she's sick of being neglected by her father. she ends up in jueyun karst, where she's attacked by the adepti for trespassing on territory - it was meant to be a 'warning shot', but the adeptus misjudged their blow and genuinely seriously injured her. ik finds her way to a cave and falls asleep there, expecting to die of her injuiries - but then when she wakes up a cryo vision whose cool energy has healed her most severe wounds
disillusioned with her homeland after being attacked by the deities who were supposed to protect her, ik wanders and comes to the guyun stone forest. she’s in a daze and incoherent and by the time she comes to, she’s already far out at see on an ice path of her own making. and she doesn’t know what else to do, so she just keeps going… until she’s spotted by a fatui ship on its way back to snezhnaya
so she trains for a while and her prowess with her vision and agility in battle deems her able to defeat many opponents, and she becomes a harbinger - columbina, but the other harbingers mostly call her ‘little dove’, since that’s what it means. she gets an anemo delusion and with it combined with her cryo vision, she can create devastatingly large snowstorms that can freeze someone to death within minutes
morally grey ik who on the surface just seems like a weirdly wholesome kid to be a member of a group like the harbingers, refers to them all as her big brothers/sisters in liyuean language (she calls them all jiejie and gege), but can snap into this ruthless mode when she deems something as something that needs defeating. basically kind of like noelle in the deltarune snowgrave route. childe adores this kid, he basically adopts her from day one, and while he’s a little lamentable about the fact that she’s ended up here, he’s glad she did too because it meant he could take her under his wing. la signora and scaramouche both have soft spots for her even though they won’t admit it at all, as do the other harbingers tbh
and then she ends up in the devildom…
ohohohoho... i do think ik deserves to be morally ambiguous, she should get to commit at least one atrocity a week as a treat
i imagine that harbinger ik would respond to appearing in the rad assembly eerily calmly. she just stands there and looks around the room, silently assessing her opponents, and even though she’s tiny it’s really intimidating?? she’s nice to all the demons while settling in, keeping both her vision and delusion on the down low, and they all think she’s just kinda weird... up until levi first attacks her and she almost impales him with an icicle as a warning
i reckon she’d stay a little silently violent no matter what, mostly because that’s funny, but i do think the demons could also help her heal a little bit. i reckon that, even if she’s close with her fellow harbingers, she’s still been wanting for familial affection since forever, and with the bonus that she’s not constantly sparring with them to the point of serious injury (like she does with her fellow fatui members), her devildom family would be a nice point of comfort for her :)
#answering asks#anon asks#jtta aus#genshin impact#once she befriends mammon harbinger ik would straight up just threaten to kill the others when they insult him#and the thing is they're not even sure she wouldn't be able to do it with the combined vision-delusion#i think there's still a sort of found family to be found with ik and her fellow harbingers (more so with childe than the others)#it's a fucked up found family but the other harbingers do harbour at least some affection for their kid

About Rudolph “Rudy” Holiday
(Deltarune default verse)
Age: 48 Pronouns: he/him Species: reindeer monster Orientation: bisexual/biromantic MBTI: ESFP (Extroverted, Observant, Feeling, Prospecting) Occupation: Stay-at-home dad
Appearance:
brown fur, short black hair parted to the side with noticeable strands of white hair protruding.
average build with a bit of a protruding belly. He gained a "dad bod" after reaching middle age.
short snout, bucked teeth, a reddish-brown nose that has the ability to glow, and a thin mustache and goatee.
1.8 meters (5 feet, 11 inches) tall. 2 meters (6 feet, 7 inches) including antlers.
cloven hooves for feet and a fluffy deer tail poking out from his pants.
Family: Carol (wife), December "Dess" (eldest daughter) [missing], and Noelle (youngest daughter).
Personality: Rudolph is a cheerful and good-natured middle-aged monster. He connects with others using humor consisting of cheeky observations and holiday-related turns of phrases. He playfully teases his friends and expresses his frustrations with facetious threats. After making a playful rib, he'll laugh at what he just said, even if nobody else reacts the same way.
At first glance, Rudy's jovial personality comes off as if he's an unserious person. He presents himself as an "open book" when, in reality, he is more guarded than he lets on. He can rely on jokes to evade difficult truths. If an outside observer doesn’t know about his genuine care for the people in his life, his occasional lack of subtly could be viewed as tactlessness or, at worst, "being an asshole."
Rudolph takes his family life seriously, keeping a close relationship with his daughters and supporting his wife, Carol, in her high-powered career. He balances out Carol's distance and hyper-focus on their children's success with warmth and permissiveness.
For all intents and purposes, Rudy maintains the harmony of the household. Without his guiding light, the Holiday family would surely be lost in the snowstorms of life.
Hobbies: retro gaming, baking, playing the guitar
♔ Strengths: warm, friendly, charming, paternal, supportive, humorous, loyal ╳ Flaws: brash, stubborn, conflict-averse, idealistic
Current situation: The Holiday family's lives were uprooted when their eldest daughter, December, disappeared. Although they they turned to each other in their shared loss, it shook the foundation they once had: Carol became more rigid towards Noelle, imposing a strict structure on her daughter to keep her safe as she increasingly buries herself in work. And Rudy became more protective of Noelle. The couple clashes over what that “protection” should look like: Carol wants Noelle to become a stronger person. However, Rudy believes she is defenseless, thus needing protection.
Recently, Rudy has been admitted to the hospital for an illness his doctor cannot pin down. Though in stable condition, he can’t ignore the fact that he’s feeling weaker by the day...
More info:
Rudy comes from a large family. The youngest of eight siblings, it wasn't easy for him to stand out (ironically).
He and his family live in the manor west of the city (blocked by black iron gates). The house is decked out in Christmas decorations year-round. More are added when the holiday season proper begins.
In his college days, Rudy was a bit of party animal. Now with a family, he knows those days are over. He looks back at them with fondness.
Rudy always finds a way to incorporate ‘that ol’ Gyftmas spirit’ in each and every other non-Gyftmas holiday. Halloween? Time to hand out candy canes to trick-or-treaters! First day of summer vacation? There’s no better time to roast some chestnuts!
Rudy becomes ill easily. He’s less immune to the cold compared to Carol and Noelle. The crazy dares he did as a college kid made him sick on multiple occasions. He fell ill after Dess went missing. It was easy to discern why he became sick those previous times. The reasons for this recent hospitalization, however, remains a mystery.
You can more learn about my headcanons for Rudy in the tag #random deer facts that will make your jaw drop! [ about reindeer dad ].

Part 2 - Snowdin and the Amalgamate
[[strap in folks, this is gonna be long]]
As soon as you leave the ruins, you are confronted with a subversion of the cutscene in which Sans approaches you for the first time in Undertale. This time, you're the one stalking him. When you reach his sentry station, an encounter starts. He is unaware of your presence. One thing that strikes you about him is that his battle sprite is still black and white and is in Undertale's lower resolution.
-(PACIFIST RUN)-
You pat sans on the shoulder, he says "how many times do I have to tell you to keep your paws off my bones?" before turning around. he is briefly startled. he summons 10 Gaster blasters, but then regains his composure. "heh...ah ah. nah." The blasters disappear. "not even gonna give you the satisfaction." he winks and leaves the battle.
You can find him at his sentry station, where he says he doesn't really have anything to do since the anomaly (aside from overseeing the operations in the ruins) and he can finally relax. Flowey pops out and greets Sans, causing him to flinch again: “i can’t make the same joke twice. so, uh. I’m going to grillby’s”.
[[Going into the forest, you’d encounter monsters I showcased in the snowdin pack. Not much to explain since that pack gave a very in depth look at monsters and group encounter dynamics.I guess I should explain the amalgamate somewhat.]]
The Amalgamate, an amalgamate of all amalgamates, is loose in the forest and will appear as a random encounter. It’s unkillable; only way to end the encounter is fleeing. They always attack first.
[[still love these guys]]
There's not much else to the area as most monsters are afraid of leaving their home in fear of encountering the Amalgamate. Firedrake being the exception as they recognize him as their son, as well as their son's friends as, well...friends (Jerry not included).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yIZgtvk2qc
Snowdin Town is lively as ever. As soon as you get there you experience a cutscene showing the D.O.G.S. returning and a casually dressed Asgore asking them if they have any news of Toriel. Dog duo replies that the explosion that engulfed the Ruins was centered on Toriel’s home. Asgore thanks them and leaves for Grillby's, defeated.
Overworld npcs are fairly similar as they couldn't absorb Frisk's soul. Some shed some more light on the world and events. You learn that Papyrus has left for the capital as he is now second in command of the Demon Squad, the institution that replaced the Royal Guard. Also, more info on the ruins disaster: Asgore left New Home in search of Toriel as soon as he received news of the disaster, which allowed Undyne and Alphys to take over the Capital and proclaim themselves as new rulers. Spoder has followed you out of the ruins, and comments on how fresh the air is, something they had seemingly never felt.
Sans leaves his sentry station and can be found in his home as well as Grillby's. He won't leave these 2 places ever and has a few 4th wall breaks where he asks if you are expecting him to follow you around, but makes it clear he wants nothing to do with you. He also informs Asgore has been living in his home. Talking to Asgore reveals that while he and Sans had never been friends, they've grown a lot closer since the ruins disaster. You can find him at Sans's home later, where he wishes he'd let him sleep in Papyrus's room instead of the couch, but makes it clear he's not complaining and he's glad he found someone who doesn't think he's worthless. He also tells you he's afraid of harming you because he killed countless humans, one of them just a week before you showed up. The Royal Guard was disappointed in learning he didn't have the strength to absorb the human souls, freeing them instead. He was overthrown without even resisting.
[[unfortunately i have no art of asgore, just imagine deltarune asgore's sprite here]]
Talking to Flowey, he would tell you that, as much as he enjoyed messing with him, he hates seeing Asgore down and that maybe he would be happier if they met; even if he knows he won’t feel anything in return. However he’s afraid of what he might say. You can encourage him to do so, after which you can watch an optional cutscene in which Flowey reveals his real identity to Asgore. His first reaction is disbelief, but then as he realizes Flowey is really Asriel, he is overtaken by Joy. He hugs the flower disregarding the thorns. “After all this time, I started to give up. I forgot there’s more to life than...loss.” Asgore says, tears in his eyes. Flowey asks if he doesn’t care that he’s in a different form now, but Asgore shakes his head.
After the moment is over, Flowey tells you that maybe the soul in his possession has allowed him to feel again. He thanks you for believing in him and giving him a second chance after what he did in the ruins (you obtain his memento item). Sans barges in and there’s a funny sitcom bit where he hates flowey but doesn’t want to hurt his old, grieving boss’s feelings. [[i just made this part up i thought it would be funny]]
If you try to leave for Waterfall, Sans will block your way. "maybe I've been too harsh on you. you're not a human, are you? i can feel it in your soul. damn. you're...them. i never thought i'd see the day. in front of you lies a path of pain, death and darkness. but you have to be strong. just...please go easy on my brother. he doesn't understand what he's doing."
"and another thing... r u n ."
-BOSS: THE AMALGAMATE (pacifist)-
The amalgamate charges at you, using multiple attacks at once. The only way forward is to run (akin to Undyne's pacifist battle in UT). After a few turns, they will be slowed down by the blizzard, at which point they'll give up. You're free to leave for Waterfall.
-BOSS END-
-(GENOCIDE RUN)-
You stab sans in the back. He staggers forward. "father...we did it" are his last words, before vanishing into dust.
In genocide, there is not much to do. The Amalgamate will come to rescue firedrake and his friends, at which point you'll have to run. The only way to complete the route, however, is to spare no one, so if you proceed without killing them, The Shadow will appear and end you.
Snowdin is deserted. If you head east, you'll find Asgore blocking your path. "Sans and I were supposed to meet at Grillby's 10 minutes ago. He is never late. He told me not to confront anyone but...killing is the only thing I know how to do. Whatever you are...prepare yourself."
-BOSS: ASGORE AND AMALGAMATE-
[[concept art of amalgamate in which they look like an eggplant]]
Asgore uses similar attacks as his UT battle. However, after a few turns, a loud, distorted howl interrupts the fight. Amalgamate joins in. "Are you here to rub salt in the wound?" "Or...YOU! What have you done to the children?! YOU...YOU DEMON!" Amalgamate and Asgore attack in sync. However the old monster is no match for Wally. "Sans...I should have listened." he turns into dust. You can then run away from the fight.
-BOSS END-
Amalgamate will keep following you into the snowstorm area. With a single ice spell, you can freeze them allowing you to shatter them, killing the abomination for good. You can then proceed to Waterfall.

FAKEPUR.
a darkener that was formed from scareware, they can morph into anything they please and is able to mimic their enemy’s attacks.
They was locked inside the queens basement after trying to infiltrate the mansion, but after snowgrave they were able to escape the basement due to Spamton leaving the entrance open.
They normally resemble a black cat with a tail for a hand, and is the boss of chapter one in deltarune after the storm.
(Yes i know the sketch says that they are a secret boss, but now he is just the main bad. So don’t get confused about that lol.)

JACK FROST SPAMTON JACK FROST SPAMTON JACK FROST SPAMTON
peak concept and art, btw
i just had the most perfect idea for a deltarune concept.
basically you play as Spamton after snowgrave, he was able to escape his frozen neo suit though the head opening, and he finds berdly frozen up, and he basically frees them and now Spamton and berdly are trying to survive a never ending snowstorm, while meeting some survivors from snowgrave, like tasque manager (which also becomes a main member of your party), a weird Virovirokun, and Spamton old pal the blue Addison (which I will be naming blue).
they also meet a little FRIEND during their journey, I won’t say who tho… but they sure like to pretend..
Anyways i might call this weird au i came up with “DELTARUNE after the snowstorm”. I honestly really like the concept and I might think of more stuff for it, maybe some more concepts, or even a mock up video?? Idk, but I do wanna make more of this idea

Anyways i might call this weird au i came up with “DELTARUNE after the snowstorm”. I honestly really like the concept and I might think of more stuff for it, maybe some more concepts, or even a mock up video?? Idk, but I do wanna make more of this idea
