Random Lamia headcanons
So these are things I made up about the Lamia squad if anyone ever decides to use any of these for a fic just let me know so I can read it 😋.
Yuka has an ugly burn scar on his back from when a building fell on him during Deliora’s attack but he never lets anyone see it. Only ones that have seen it are Lyon, Toby, Sherry, Jura and Obaba
That Lyon’s team had to do a ton of odd jobs both legal and illegal up northeast to get enough money to get a boat big enough to transport Deliora.
Lyon has a lot of people that resent him from up north because he used to hunt down every enemy that Ur has ever fought and was a little asshole about it and has even had some that had tried to attack him out of revenge down in fiore only to be beaten easily. (He keeps this a secret from Gray)
When Toby Yuka and Sherry arrived at Lamia Scale only Yuka spoke there language so he had to be a translator for the other two. Jura tried to learn it but Yuka being a little sh*t would teach him the wrong words and make Sherry and Toby laugh at him constantly. When around a year later when Jura had found out that Fairy tail had someone that understood Isvan he had requested Makarov asked the boy to send a list of common words for Jura to use. (Years later he wondered why he didn’t just have the kids meet may have prevented a lot of issues.
Jura spoils Sherry rotten it hasn't changed from when she was little only issue was that Chelia managed to join in.
(This is based off a fairy tail character sheet that Sherry hates water) When Deliora attacked the three lives in a town near a harbor and she has been knocked into the freezing cold water hearing the sounds of Deliora’s cries and was luckily rescued but ever since then she had a huge fear of water that lasted for years until she hit her teens, but it resurfaced again for a little while after her fight with Aquarius.
Theres a shop in Margaret that sells authentic Isvan food thanks to Sherry teaching the recipes properly so she gets to eat there for free.
It took a long time for other Lamia scale mages to get used to Lyon. They resented him for taking away the mages that they knew since they were kids and he always had a cold condescending attitude. But after he saved a member who had been the biggest disliker of Lyon on a mission despite getting hurt himself opinions slowly changed especially after Lyon lightened up.
When Chelia first entered the guild she did the same thing Wendy did and tripped and face planted and cried. Still gets teased about it to this day.
When Jura left for the council Lyon basically became second in command having to control the more wild guild members doing paperwork because Baabaa hated doing it organizing events but not a single member was surprised by this.
Lyon has comforted all three of his friends on panic attacks from Deliora on separate occasions but has never let them see any time he has.
(This one I actually made into a request fic by Mnemosyne's Elegy) that Lyon actually was the one that had to cut Ur’s leg off
The first time they ever took Lyon to a beach Toby Sherry and Yuka all would remind Lyon every 30 minutes to put on sunscreen because they all had a bad sunburn experience in the past when they had come to Fiore the first time
Well that’s all I can think about for now I’ll come up with some more when I can find them. Don’t know how many people will read this but worth a shot!

Something I find interesting related to the Sub Zero Emperor / Galuna Island arc is that they tell us that demons can't even get close to the Moon Temple. But that's not completely true...
Because Etherious can get close to the Temple and they are also classified as demons. So it must be only normal demons that can't get near it. After all Natsu was clearly able to get into the Temple. I would also argue that it can't just be chalked up to whether or not Mashima decided to have Natsu actually be a demon when the arc was created, because Deliora was arguably closer to the temple than any of the demon villagers ever got. Deliora is also an Etherious literally known as the "Demon of Destruction."
Makes me wonder about demon classifications. Like I guess Mirajane and Minerva might still be able to get into the Temple despite having more demonic essence than the average human. Since their demonic essence is more compared to or related to Etherious than the Galuna demons.
Anyway I just thought it was interesting that natural demons have "too much darkness" and therefore can't go to holy lands but artificial demons like Etherious are some how fine?

OH HO HO, INTERESTING I wanna see more of the book demons summoned out of their books now
So I mentioned this to @spot-of-tea a little while ago; I have an idea for any Fairy Tail fanfic authors who want some inspiration.
We all remember the Gray and Lyon vs Ur fight in the final season/arc, yeah? The one where Neinheart basically resurrected Ur and made her fight her boys. Well I love a good 'emotionally fraught battle' and 'the students surpass their mentor' moment, but for some reason that fight felt just a touch lackluster to me. Gray by that point has surpassed Ur and then some, he even points this out and admits the battle they're fighting will be more helpful to Lyon's growth than his own.
Personally, I feel like it would've been more intense and fulfilling if Lyon beat Ur by himself. Oh- but Konami stan, who would Gray have to fight? You can't just throw Lyon to the wolves and not do anything with Gray! You are absolutely right! And do you know what would give Gray the same push forward in character/personal growth as Lyon? Killing Deliora in one-on-one combat.
Zeref wrote his Etherios into books, sealing their souls into the tomes and making their bodies out of raw magic power ( also called Ether). I have always seen Lullaby and Deliora as Etherios too (I have some Thoughts™ about Lullaby and the 'seal' that Kageyama broke back in season 1, but that's a rant for another post.), and being Etherios when their bodies are destroyed they return to their books, right? In order for the aforementioned fight to play out Deliora's book would need to be lost, as in not being kept in Tartaros because we all know how that turns out.
If Deliora's book were lost and unsealed that opens the door for that monster to make reoccurring appearances throughout the entire series. So long as the book in intact (I'm not saying it was kept intact in canon, this is just a scenario for anyone to use if they want to) then Deliora and Lullaby both could've come back.
NOW- imagine Neinheart getting his hands on Deliora's book, or maybe Zeref gave it to him knowing Neinheart isn't his strongest pawn but a resourceful one all the same. Neinheart still summons Ur to fight The Boys™, but Neinheart isn't satisfied with just one woman on par with the Ten Wizard Saints- no, he wants to ensure victory by any means necessary. So he opens the book, his trump-card, and unleashed the Demon of Destruction.
Deliora rampages immediately, ruthelessly killing anything that moves (Neinheart having the book could probably order it not to kill the Alvarez soldiers), which leaves the boys in a predicament. The town is being ruined, good people are dying, and Ur is fighting on the wrong side of this war- someone has to stop her but someone also has to stop Deliora. The only one with Devil Slayer magic knows what he's gotta do. Gray is able to kill Deliora with the magic inherited from his father, he gets his vengeance for himself and everyone Deliora stole from him (his parents, Ur, and by technicality Lyon since he spent/wasted years of his life thawing it out using Moon Drip), Gray has won but Lyon is still fighting.
Lyon beats Ur one-on-one succeeding his master by himself, truly no one can ever dispute his accomplishment now. He didn't need to rely on Gray but now he's exhausted and his magic power are waning (probably), I'd imagine Lyon transferring as much of his magic power as he safely can to Gray in order to finish off Neinheart but I dunno. I don't actually remember how that battle ended. Did Gray and Lyon beat him? Or was it Jellal? I'm pretty sure it was Jellal, but I don't know.
It's out of my hands now! Go, run wild, make your fanfics people- cuz I'm sure as hell not going to! So you get my ideas, I get your fanfics, yeah? Okay, good talk.

In your au, would Zeref complain that between Arcnologia and him, the two blight of humanity, He's the one who ended up with almost every dark mage making a cult in his name, while Arcnologia doesn't have even one and is forgotten. I mean, the Black Dragon Od Apocalypse got to have SOME cult in his name?
I feel like he'll be pretty salty about it.
I mean. Nobody said that Acnologia doesn't have any cultish following at all....... but certainly not anything close to the level Zeref has. Even when Acnologia was a problem, he was a far more mysterious one and usually more of a dragon problem than a people problem, if that makes sense. If anything, his legends got wrapped into Zeref's so it's not an uncommon take that the "black dragon of the apocalypse" was actually just a big demon of Zeref.
Both of them despise this rumor, of course.
But yeah when Zeref isn't being uber apathetic and depressed he definitely has the capacity to be salty. Unfortunately for him, crazy lads latch onto the guy with lots of spells and inventions to his name, with the power to create life and insta-cast death and be god-like, more than the tales of the dragon that destroyed things.
Because the main thing is... what we have seen thus far is largely from a human and modern perspective. And modern history barely agrees that dragons existed, and doesn't really know them beyond super powerful creatures. There's more of a disconnect there. So for people in the market to follow a god......
Zeref was an evil mage—a man—and Acnologia was just a monster.

ICE MAKER MAGIC & GRAY'S STYLE
Tumblr media
MAKER MAGIC IS KNOWN FOR ITS CREATIVITY AND FREEDOM. In terms of magics its one of the most versatile ones out there, with the only real limits being the caster's imagination and their magic power. With it's ability to range from static every day items to gigantic, life like creations, and to be based in almost any element imaginable, it's easy to see the appeal of such a kind of magic.
WHILE ITS THE MOST PREVALENT TYPE WE SEE IN THE SERIES, ICE MAKER MAGIC ISN'T ALL THAT COMMON. Most maker magics tend to focus on more solid and sustainable elements, such as wood or iron, mainly due to their more practical uses in daily life. The only Ice Make users we see in the series all have connection to the same person: Ur, be it as blood relation or being her student, which is why the canon has a larger population of Ice Make users than other types of Maker Magics. However, in terms of the world at large, it's not very commonly seen, and is often associated with the northern kingdoms, due to their colder climates. When Gray had first arrived in to Fairy Tail, many of the older mages were fascinated by the mere idea of an ice based maker magic, and most of them pieced together themselves where Gray had originally called home.
FOR A MAGIC SO ROOTED IN CREATIVITY, A STYLE LIKE GRAY'S IS ALMOST CONFUSING, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING WHO HE LEARNED FROM. Ur had an unparalleled mastery of the craft, and was able to create truly breathtaking spells with such ease, all seeming to fall under her botanical motif. Her ability to make devastating attacks look like the most gentle aspects of nature was truly awe inspiring, and she encouraged her students to find their own styles. Lyon took this and perfected the animated style, leaning more towards animals. He had also taken to an aspect of nature, embracing the creatures that roamed it and honed that as his art. But Gray? Gray had been very practical with what he created. There was no influence of nature, no creative spin, instead rather cut and dry with what he wanted. Even other Maker Magic users such as Laki have a creative spin to their magic, but not Gray. Ever blunt as to what he wants his magic to make and what it should be, leaving very little room for a creative spin or alteration on it. His very straight forward take is due to his reason for learning the magic in the first place.
GRAY LEARNED MAKER MAGIC FOR ONE REASON AND ONE REASON ONLY. COMBAT. Gray had become Ur's student solely for the purpose of fighting Deliora and avenging his family, and thus only ever saw the magic as a tool. In his youth, Gray never truly allowed himself to see the beauty in his magic, the freedom it possessed, instead only seeing it as a means to an end. As he learned, he was very cut and dry with what he wanted, because he didn't believe he had the time to add the flourishes and uniqueness typically carried by those who use the magic. This was a tool and nothing more, so what he created would reflect that. While Lyon would summon a swarm of birds, Gray would go the more practical route and fire off arrows or spears. When Ur would create a beautiful rose bloom to protect herself, Gray would skip straight to its purpose, a simple shield instead. Gray had refused to let him personality and self thrive through his magic when he was learning it, far too wrapped up in his desire for revenge and the grief that haunted him that the prospect of truly making his magic his own was something that never crossed his mind. It wouldn't be til almost a decade later, after facing his past head on and coming out the other end mostly unscathed would Gray begin to let his magic begin to reflect himself. Instead of the most basic forms of what he needed, the weapons he would create would start to be more intricate and details. What use to be plain blades would now be much more intricate, but equally as deadly. His basic bows would now be adorned with decorative aspects, in no means interfering with their purpose, but displaying an elegance equal to their strength. It was a subtle change, something most people would miss, but for those who knew the Ice Mage, they could see his true colors finally shining through with each spell he cast.

Something i realized,
If natsu never existed/died and zeref didnt bring him back, basically almost none of the other main characters would exist.
zeref created the eclipse gate through which anna passed through. since natsu doesnt exist, he never created that so anna wont go through the gate. then shed be in her own timeline with ancestor ichiya and their child and it could mean that lucy might not exist in the future. (or she could. depends honestly)
then we have gajeel, wendy, sting and rogue. none of them would go to the future and would probably die from the dragon attacks.
irene wouldnt have had erza without zerefs help so she wouldnt exist.
zeref would never live long enough to meet mavis so she wouldnt have created ftand yuri wouldve never had makarov and so makarov, laxus and ivan wouldnt exist either.
if ft wasnt there, macao wouldnt meet enno, alzack wouldnt meet bisca and gildarts probably wouldnt meet cornelia and so romeo, asuka and cana wouldnt exist.
since dragon slayers arent there, the exceeds probably wont be sent to earthland.
ig gray and juvia r the only main characters who wouldnt technically be affected. gray probably wouldve lived happily with his parents cuz deliora didnt exist.
also maybe the strauss siblings?
so in conclusion, natsu is the mc for a reason (ik many ppl say its lucy but hiro has said like a million times, its natsu. i prefer to say that theyre both the mcs since they have pretty much an equally important role in the story)

gray’s fight against silver furthers his character development so much.. we see him learn that the way he goes about his relationships can’t remain surface level and any deeper feelings he has must be expressed. he allows himself to love more genuinely (this is where his relationship with juvia starts to grow) and brings out a positive weakness in him. his magic power is impressive here as well and clearly fueled by the love for his guild-mates, rather than a hatred for deliora or any conflicting emotions with his father. in most of gray’s big fights before this point it usually is self driven (rufus, ultear) and he doesn’t understand the value he has in the relationships he’s formed (iced shell). the fight with silver allows him to overcome these things. the next time we see him perform iced shell is very different, it’s because of the guilt he feels from his fight with natsu rather than lacking security.

you know how, in the Iliad, when Hector tries to embrace his son after battle his son is unable to recognize him in his helmet, and shies away out of fear?
yeah anyway I think that Gray’s demon slayer magic should’ve been the same. I think Lyon should have seen him in demon slayer form, and for a moment, felt the same as he did while staring down Deliora.

ultear's timeline is so jam-packed it stresses me out. she's a side character technically, but her lore is insane.
Like, Ultear as a child is tested on for at least a year before escaping, finding her mom, vowing vengeance on her mother for replacing her. Then she goes back, gets experimented for a little bit longer, and destroys the place, all before age 10. Then hades finds her, she joins grimoire heart, and she masters time magic. But around that time, she also possesses a 7-year-old jellal under the guise of being Zeref at like 13.
Then from 14-25 she "slows down" a bit, just doing some mass destruction to find seals for Zeref and taking in a child. oh and don't forget how she joins the magic council with like 17-year-old jellal as siegrain who again, she is manipulating, and begins aiding lyon in freeing deliora from the ice that is her mother.
im pretty certain that all happens before natsu and lucy meet in hargeon.
this behavior absolutely continues in the 7 year timeskip. she rebuilds her relationship with her adopted daughter while continuing to raise her, breaks jellal out of the highest security prison in the nation, presumably helps him get his memory back(? unclear on when that happened). then with that merry trio, she founded a pseudo-dark guild, destroyed several "legitimate" dark guilds, perfects the spell to unlock the second origin or something, and keeps an eye out for Zeref-likr magic throughout an entire damn country. All while on the run from the Magic Council, and several other dark guilds.
like what the hell are you on?

Please may I have Fairy tail Gray x Lucy headcanons?
Tumblr media
Lucy doesn't often say this but Gray probably has Lucy's favorite form of magic in Fairy Tail besides her own. She very much agrees with Erza's assessment of Gray's Ice Make as being a very beautiful form of magic.
Gray is pretty much what Lucy envisions when she pictures "ideal boyfriend" and it takes her an embarrassingly long time to realize it. She probably would've started dating him sooner were it not for a certain Juvia-shaped deterrent. Likewise, it's canon that Gray is attracted to Lucy.
Gray is actually very fond of Lucy's writing, and it gets him started reading more than he ever did before. He wants to be able to know what Lucy's talking about when she starts going off on some spiel about her favorite book series of the week...and it works.
Lucy's favorite genre is romance, while Gray favors murder mysteries. They meet in the middle with the noir genre, which both of them enjoy.
Gray's stripping habit has, over the course of the series, cooled down into more of a simple shirtlessness habit (probably helped by the existence of belts). Lucy is hopeful that with a little more time, they can axe it completely. She's far and away used to it by now, of course, and that's not to say she necessarily dislikes it...
We've all seen how Lucy gets when the topic of guys comes up, especially the potential of dating one--she's shy, nervous, dithering, and overthinks, but in the end she cleans up nice and puts her best effort in. What she doesn't know is that Gray kind of goes through the same thing, endlessly back-and-forth-ing about what to wear, what to say, how to behave, and worrying how he'll come off and what to do...but they meet up and their first date goes very smoothly.
Tumblr media
It takes a long time for Gray and Lucy to actually touch each other, and I don't necessarily mean biblically. They just aren't super touchy-feely by nature and it takes a minute for them to get comfortable enough with each other that Lucy does things like hold his hand or lean against his shoulder, or that Gray gets an arm around her shoulder or waist.
It's a little bit of a surprise for both of them--Lucy barely notices Gray's shirtlessness most of the time, but when she accidentally brushes against his waist after they become an item, suddenly she's hyper-aware of his half nakedness. Likewise, Gray's eyed Lucy up before, but he's suddenly very aware of how ungentlemanly it is once he's actually dating her. They're both shy and it's cute.
Lucy has never had a boyfriend before Gray--but Gray has had exactly one (1) girlfriend before. It was Cana, and they dated for a very short time. Surprisingly, this ends up not causing the friction Lucy thought it would, and Cana ends up being a great wingman and source of info on all Gray's behaviors and likes for Lucy's benefit.
Similarly, Gray goes to Levy and Erza when he needs advice on Lucy, since they know her best. Both of them are very happy to see Lucy with someone reliable and honest like him.
Said it before, I'll say it again, these two are one of the few that would actually work as a marriage. Lucy doesn't even need to consider it for a moment when he proposes, she says yes almost before he's finished the question.
Between Gray's wizarding work and Lucy's book sales, they're able to save up enough to go on their first vacation together relatively early. Gray takes her to Bellum, the homeland of Ur and where he studied Ice Make under her after Deliora destroyed Isvan. It's a nice time for both of them.
NS/FW:
Gray really unlocks Lucy's explorative side, because wow, she's never had a guy intimately before...and there's no better person to explore with than Gray. His gentle and curious style of sex matches up well with her inexperience and shyness.
Lucy discovers a lot that she likes about Gray's body. Her favorite parts of him are, in order, his collar, his waist, his back, and his pecs. Gray's never been viewed as a sexual entity before save for Juvia, and that much always made it uncomfortable, but Gray gains a new appreciation for his body and starts to enjoy feeling attractive.
They have remarkably good luck since it was ages before either of them remembered condoms were probably a good idea. No early pregnancies.
Gray held Lucy's hand all night after their first time.
Gray's lap is always open for Lucy, usually in private but maybe sometimes in public too when they're clubbing or just feeling possessive of one another.
Lucy can and will go out wearing Gray's clothes the morning after--his jeans included. Gray encourages it, since he's fine being naked anyway, although he usually restricts himself to Lucy's house until she comes home. Usually.
