Briana Boston faces terrorism charges and CEOs are getting free therapy
Tumblr media
Briana Boston is a 42 year old mother of three from Florida who is under house arrest for expressing her frustration at her insurance (which she PAYS for) who denied her claim. She owns ZERO guns and doesn't have a criminal record.
She was originally held in prison for $100,000 bail. They have not dropped the charges and she is under house arrest even after widespread backlash.
They are trying to charge her with terrorism. They want her to spend 15 years in prison.
They are calling her a Luigi Mangione copycat. As if she killed someone. She made a indirect, not at all credible threat.
Meanwhile...
Tumblr media
I want every woman who has ever faced threats online, stalking, etc to bring this Briana Boston up at every opportunity. Every time you were told by police that there was nothing they could do, know that they not only CAN do something, but they WILL do something, just not for you.

Okay so it's fairly likely that Luigi Mangione was the Claim Adjuster (ignoring the posibility that the police is lying about their facts).
This man will have flaws, all humans do. He will have opinions you disagree with, all humans do.
DO NOT let them villaify him to you! What he did was a net positive morally and he's actions led to the biggest real actions around class disperacy.

say what you will about vigilante justice, but the conversation taking place around luigi mangione is going to change disabled people鈥檚 lives. not immediately, of course, but it is a small step toward a much larger goal.
to me, there鈥檚 something so disingenuous about decrying violent acts while turning a blind eye to the inherent violence of refusing needed medical treatment. being disabled in the united states makes you uniquely aware of the flaws in our healthcare system. and that is in itself a radicalizing experience. so no, it didn鈥檛 surprise me at all to find out that the suspect shared many similarities to myself, being a disabled man with a chronic illness whose daily pain was invalidated by doctors because it was invisible. frankly, i鈥檓 shocked instances like this aren鈥檛 more common, because disabled people have been on the receiving end of medical violence since the concept of medicine existed.
i talk a lot about cripple punk for this reason- society has a very narrow view of how disability and chronic illness affects people. the reality is, many are angry, and hurt, and bitter. we have deep and seemingly irrational mistrust for doctors. we鈥檙e exhausted of having to constantly fight just to exist, and a lot of us hold lingering resentment toward those that hurt us.
the fact is, some disabled people are going to make you feel uncomfortable. they might say or do things that you don鈥檛 agree with. this is the end result of a system that consistently fails the chronically ill and disabled, and until we address that, true peace will never really exist

"but he killed someo-" that CEO was killing hundreds and thousands of people by denying them healthcare just for more money in his pocket. he ruined people's lives for money he did not need. murder is wrong, but im not opposed to losing one life to save thousands

weird how the woman who said 'deny, depose, defend. you're next' on the phone after having her claim denied was charged with a $100,000 bond but you can go to the police scared out your wits about threats received by men and be told they can't do anything until they physically try to hurt you. strange..hmm..perplexed
