The Criterion Collection In February Will Be 'Evocative'
February is only a couple of months away and we know that time of the year better staying in. February for The Criterion Collection will be ‘evocative’, traditions clash and idiosyncratic. Things start on 3rd February with the release of Winchester ’73, the landmark western and first of the celebrated collaborations between director Anthony Mann and actor James Stewart. The movie broke new ground…

I'd figure that I do this! I created Madame Prim's daughter, Dolly, on Gacha Club and this is the result. Anyways, here is her information below.
Full Name: Dolly Carmichael
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Status: Alive
Family Relatives:
Roland Carmichael (father)
Primrose "Madame Prim" Gaillot (mother)
Vladimir Gaillot (maternal uncle)
Chloé Gaillot (aunt)
Antoine Gaillot (maternal grandfather)
Célise Gaillot (maternal grandmother)
Physical Apperance
Dolly is a teenaged girl with fair skin and violet eyes. Her bright orange hair is pulled up in a ponytail with a matching hair tie. Back when she was a student at P.P.P, she wore the standard uniform as well as an unsettling smile on her face.
Personality
Since early childhood, Dolly had been forced to live up to her mother's expectations, causing her to be a lonely and depressed child. Because of Prim, Dolly had difficulties making new friends.
After her mother brainwashed her into becoming perfect, Dolly started to imitate some of her mother's behavior and even became extremely obedient toward her mother, obeying any commands that she was given while not realizing that she was being used.
After she was freed from being brainwashed, Dolly began to display a frustrated side to her and even argued with her mother about how she should have chosen to live with her father.
Despite this, she was revealed to be a genuinely kind person who only wanted to experience freedom for once.
Relationships:
Primrose Gaillot (Her mother)
Dolly never had a good relationship with her mother as Primrose forcibly trained Dolly to live up to her expectations since early childhood. Dolly tried her hardest to love her mother, but in the end, only feared her. Her fear turned into hate when she was freed from being brainwashed and she lashed out on her mother for what she did. There is a good chance that she would cut off all contact with her mother from now on.
Roland Carmichael (Her father)
Unlike with Prim, Dolly has a very close relationship with her father. She would spend time with him at every chance she would get. Roland spent most of his time taking care of his daughter as well as bonding with her. After Prim's arrest, Dolly made plans to travel to Bali with her father.
Delilah Kane
Throughout Prim And Proper Problems, Dolly was seen with both Delilah and Delancey. The three girls seemed to get along with each other, despite being brainwashed. However, after P.P.P closed down, Delilah most likely went her separate way as did Delancey. So it is currently unclear if Dolly considers her as an actual friend.
Delancey Stewart
Like Delilah, Dolly always hung around with Delancey. It did appear that she was close with her like she was with Delilah. But after P.P.P closed down, Delancey went her separate way. It is currently unclear if the three girls consider each other as friends.

TEXTING WITH THE ENEMY : DIGITAL DATING SERIES #1
Tumblr media
When Isabel "El" Watson applied for a sales job with her company, she had no idea a jelly donut would practically explode on her blouse, or that grumpy boss would practically laugh her out of the interview. Accountants could be salespeople, she was sure of it, even if that jerkface didn't think so.
So when a lady at the local wine festival offers her a sales job on the spot at a new boutique winery, El jumps at the chance. She also jumps at the chance to text with the guy who danced with her at the festival. Life was finally looking up.
Boston's friend, Chad, never should have given Boston's number to the girl at the wine festival as a joke, but the damage was done. When El sends Boston a text later that night, believing he is Chad, he's too nice to hurt her feelings by telling her the truth. But there are a few other truths Boston might have thought about:
Truth #1 : He's her boss
Truth #2 : She's just accepted a job at his mother's new winery
Truth #3 : He's always had a crush on her
Even though Boston is no longer El's grumpy boss, they still work together at his mom's winery. And while sparks are flying as they get to know each other for real, El's kind of sweet on the guy who always seems to know just what to say via text too.
Obviously, things will come to a head.
Will Boston come clean about the flirty texts being from him? Or will El figure out on her own that she's been Texting With the Enemy?
(source: Goodreads)
Okay where do we begin? It was a casual rainy Saturday, was just chilling in my bedroom, in the mood to read some light romance with the enemies to lovers trope. Initially, I wanted to read Tweet Cute but this book popped up on the Goodreads search bar instead. So, I clicked. It only has 120 reviews under which did paint some shadow of doubt in me but it vanished as quick as it came when I read the synopsis.
The book only consists of 21 chapters and story pace is rather fast yet intriguing. Although, it is cliché and gives you the cringe at some point, it gets me out of my two-weeks-reading slump which I'd say a good sign! I read from my phone so imagine what happened after six hours for holding it non-stop. But the page-turner storyline paid off the tremor.
"if cringing was an Olympic sport, I'd be medaling right now. Silver at least. Probably gold."
If you are in search for a light, fast-paced, entertaining, PG-13 aka no smut romance story then you should give this book a try. It is a new release too; 16 April 2021 and I think it is underrated. I, myself, was not expecting this one would turn out to be so good. Only saw the colour of the cover (bc it's one of my favourite colours) and the title with the word "enemy" so I literally dropped everything. I ended up giving this 4.5/5 stars but round it up to 5 because I owe it to Delancey Stewart and Marika Ray for getting me back in the reading game. Now, onto the second book of Digital Dating Series!!

Busy Bean (book 8): Fireproof by Delancey Stewart
The newest barista at the Busy Bean is about to steam the place up...
Former Marine Mason Rye can make a cappuccino with military precision, but he finds it much harder to serve up a smile. It’s not that he doesn’t like people. But he knows from experience that once you let someone in, it hurts like hell when you lose them. And Mason’s lost too many people already.
So it’s pretty damn inconvenient when his old Marine buddy shows up on Mason’s goat farm with his younger sister in tow. Heather’s work in Washington D.C. has turned dangerous, and she needs a safe place out of town.
Mason doesn’t need a new roommate, especially not a pretty, single one who insists on rearranging his spice rack and giving his chickens cute names. Although there’s no denying the haunted look in her blue eyes. Every time her fear shows its face, he wants to reach for her.
The problem is that she wants him, too. And when Mason breaks all his rules, they practically burn down his bed together. But her life is in D.C. And the threat against her is over.
Unfortunately, neither of their hearts is fireproof...
Warning: this stand-alone novel contains cute goats, bossy Marines and small town charm.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
Mason was pretty content with his life before a certain friend's sister showed up in his life. He worked hard to keep his farm goin and picked up another job at the Busy Bean to help with the bills. Sure, he was a bit of a loner and kept his distance, but overall he was fine, right? Well, not quite. It isn't until his best friend calls him asking for a favor. A favor that involves letting his sister, Heather, stay with Mason for a while for her protection. Now Heather is in his life and throwing chaos in the order he worked hard to keep. And it starts to open Mason's eyes. Perhaps a little chaos is good. For Heather, she loved her in DC. She was fighting for something she believed in. But when she becomes a key witness on a trial against a powerful man, her life beings to crumble a bit. The man's supporters do not appreciate what she has done, despite it being the right thing, and are making her life a living hell. From anonymous texts, phone calls, and emails to yelling at her on the street. And when someone turns up at her doorstep, she knows it can't go on. Her brother steps up and tells her to pack a bag and get out of DC for a while. Leading her right to Mason. At first, she doesn't understand this perpetually grumpy man who looks like he rather be alone than have someone in his home. She doesn't even know what she should be doing if she isn't working. But the longer she stays and helps Mason where she can, the more she starts to understand that Mason's grumpy exterior is guarding a soft heart. A heart that has learned to shield itself or risk once again losing someone you love. They are the unexpected couple that realize that they just work. But can they have a future? Can Heather give up her life in DC if it is ever safe for her to be there again? And can Mason face his fears and let go of the past? A really great story! I loved Heather and Mason and so many new characters introduced in their story. Mason's backstory was heartbreaking and there was so much he struggled with as he was falling for Heather. A wonderful addition to this series!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Book Review for Only a Crush
Tumblr media
Not sure how this little gem slipped through my posting fingers but it only made it to Instagram for some reason. In either case, I became a fan of Delancey Stewart when I read Only a Fling. Having a soft spot for small town romances, I was entranced by what I thought was the first book in the series (FYI – you will want to read Only a Summer first). Add to that how Stewart writes her female characters and you will quickly understand how reading her books in less than day is far too easy.
The same wit, charm, sarcasm (my goodness the sarcasm!), and overall laugh out loud moments were front and center in Only a Crush. There were moments I laughed so hard that I had to take a second before continuing (hard to see a screen with tears in your eyes).
The way Stewart wrote Annalee was phenomenal. I swear I wanted to sing “Anything You Can Do”. She was the epitome of that song. She was gorgeous but not a delicate flower. She was smart, quick, talented in anything and everything she tried (pilot, chef, event planning, film critic), and she didn’t take mess from anyone. At the same time, she was fallible, vulnerable, and protected herself from a world that wanted to prove her wrong at every turn, making her believe she was no better than the world she left behind. That constant struggle was hidden behind the persona she carved as Monroe.
She met her match with Mateo, fighting the same two sided struggle – staying true to his past but not wanting to lose the potential of his future. I felt myself being more and more protective of Mateo when it came to Monroe until we finally got to peek behind the curtain of who Monroe/Annalee really was. When that shield was dropped, when we truly saw the real person behind the blonde hair and perfect smile, you couldn’t help but be glad they found each other.
To witness the push and pull between these two characters, the tug of war of want, desire, protection, and honor is what makes you keep turning the page to see how it all plays out.
The last thing I will say about this series is you want to know these characters – inside and out. You learn each time that who they appear to be is nowhere near who they really are and the real life experiences they have had make them so relatable. By having an alternative POV, the unsaid moments are so strong, so informative that you fall more and more involved with every single member of this growing family.
