So I think I’ve pinpointed the general vibes for the three bnha ships I keep rotating around and it kinda goes like this in my head

Kiribaku: The high school sweethearts. Ride or die almost from the moment they meet to the end of their days together. These two can ride the ups and downs long-term probably the best out of the three. Not to say they never argue, but there’s an easy understanding of each other that leads into a greater willingness to compromise. Kiri knows the how and why of Bakugou’s rough edges and learns quickly not to take things personally; Bakugou winds up wanting to answer this understanding in kind and finds it doesn’t actually hurt his pride all that much to bend on things for Kiri’s sake. They’re the kind to drop everything if one or the other says “I need you” because they wouldn’t say it unless it was really, really true. These two probably have the easiest time being vulnerable around each other of three, because there’s no judgment, and there’s never a need to explain why, because they already know.

Dekubaku: The rocky slow burn. Spend their younger years riling each other up without fully understanding why, before having a huge blowout that results in some distance, whether or not they attempt any sort of apologies afterwards. There’s an acknowledgment that they are both too alike and too different to stay close while they’re still each trying to find their own paths. But when they meet up again all grown up, changed and with new perspective on themselves and each other, they find themselves yearning to see what that means. These two will butt heads the most often out of the three and come out of each argument steaming and stewing. Apologies get them nowhere. Action, a drive to improve and not give up; those are the only things that matter. One thing that neither of them lacks is determination, and they will use every ounce of it that they can to keep this thing going, now that it’s theirs.

Todobaku: The “accidental” relationship. Really sort of an oddball couple, the kind of relationship that makes people wonder what they’re like off the field - when they’re working together it makes sense and neither they nor anyone else question it. It just is. They start to fall into each other’s space and it settles without them really having to think about it. They move in together because it feels fine to do so. They start kissing and sleeping in the same bed because it’s comfortable. They go out to dinner and to see friends together because it feels right. They don’t so much argue as they do give each other the cold shoulder for a day or two after a disagreement before continuing on as normal. There’s little need to define it initially, because it is what it is and they are who they are and they’re good with that. But Bakugou blows a gasket when someone inevitably asks, “so when are you two getting married?” and Todoroki answers, “I don’t know. We haven’t really thought about it.”

I dun goofed and failed to bookmark two dekubaku fics I read on ao3.

Fanfic number one:

Omegaverse - Bakugou has Deku’s kid, and the kid runs up to Deku wearing light up sneakers and Deku’s merch. Bakugou’s in a seaside town raising the kid. Towards the end of the fic, it’s revealed that Deku was only in town becuse he was on a mandatory break for overworking himself.

Fanfic number two: - FOUND it was Cruel Affection by Mediumcanis

Smutty - Deku and Bakugou are having sex, and Deku is calling Bakugou all sorts of names and such, but Bakugou starts crying because contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t like the verbal degradation/humiliation. Deku feels bad and starts praising Bakugou instead, mending the climax on a sweeter note.

The first time Pro-Hero Dynamight gets injured by a villain, the whole world gets to watch Pro-Hero Deku go absolutely feral on live TV.

And understandably, they're just a little bit weirded out by it. Dynamight and Deku seem to have a rivalry going on, but that's about all the interaction they've ever seen between the two heroes, so to see Deku lose it like that..... Deku's numbers in popularity dip down quickly.

Deku's PR team is scrambling to turn this whole thing around, and they do eventually succeed... by implying that the incident happened because Deku is In Love with Dynamight. After all, who wouldn't lose themselves when seeing their loved one get hurt?

Unfortunately, the idea of Deku being in love with Dynamight ends up being EXTREMELY LOVED by the public. And well, who are they to turn down this PR Gold Mine?? They start setting up a Fake Dating deal with Dynamight's PR team, because holy shit, half the world is clamoring for these two to become a couple!

Meanwhile, Deku is Suffering because he IS in love with Kacchan, and now everyone knows that... except Kacchan, apparently, who thinks this is all just to save Deku's reputation.

you know what’s mildly frustrating? the fact that heroes rising can’t be considered 100% canon when it’s the only piece in the series as of now that properly highlights how much synergy both bakugou and deku have when fighting together, and how “save to win, win to save” is something that they’ve BOTH displayed; rather than it only being a phrase where they strictly live up to its specific halves.

all of this subtext shown in every single scene they fought together btw, not even just the finale fight, and i can’t even consider this movie fully canon...

To add, I was a reading a fic and it mentioned how Bakugou was Deku's first hero and that got me thinking, what if Bakugou was the one who introduced All Might to him??

Headcanon time ( ˘ ³˘)

Izuku, being the shy and quiet kid that he is, were playing alone at the sandbox. Katsuki was looking for a playmate that time and when he saw Izuku, immediately went to the green-haired boy. Izuku's head perked up when he heard the blond's voice, "Do you also like heroes?" With Izuku's light head shake, Katsuki felt his blood rising up because how dare he don't like THE All Might?! He has to make him see, make him realize, just how amazing his favorite hero is.

And so Katsuki began telling stories about how All Might was fighting this mob of villains by himself yet he still won in the end, or how he finished a knocked out a villain by giving him his left hook, all the while trying to reenact All Might's moves to try and provide some visuals for the greenette. Katsuki let out a victory smirk when he saw Izuku clenching his fists, mouth gaping, bright green eyes sparkling and little body trembling from amazement.

Satisfied, Katsuki stopped his stories and he offered his hand. Still sporting a wide bright grin, the blonde asked, "I'm Katsuki. What's your name?"

Shyly, the greenhead took his hand.

"Izuku"

A pause.

"C-can you t-tell me more about All Might?"

Izuku didn't think Katsuki's grin can still go wider, yet it did. And Izuku can't help but offer back a large smile of his own.

When they were kids, Bakugou was the one who reached out to Izuku first and asked him to be his friend. Don't ask me how I know this, I just have a hunch

Here’s an idea: Reader and yanderes DekuBaku (poly) have an argument or something of that sort one day and reader says hurtful things. Usually when it’s night and time to sleep, reader and yanderes sleep together but now that they’ve fought and had an argument, reader is on the couch and she feels sad about what happened and doubts whether they love her anymore and starts crying. I hope this wasn’t too complicated

your body, clad only in katsuki’s t-shirt and izuku’s sweatpants, is curled up on the couch; shivering, whether from fear, anger, your sobbing, or cold. less than two hours ago you were screaming at bakugo for “being controlling” and deku for “being delusional”. now that your mind leveled again, you felt the icy cold grip of regret and fear latch onto your heart.

on a normal day, your captors would force you to rest with them on the bed in the master bedroom; katsuki picking you up and swinging you over his shoulder if you fought.

it was now well past the time they normally came and found you to go to bed. this was more than just a little odd - they valued a good sleep schedule above almost all.

maybe it was just because you were tired, but your mind was beginning to come up with the idea that your kidnappers no longer loved you. or was it based it truth? after all, if they even cared for you in the slightest, why had they gone off to bed together without their “girlfriend”? their “girlfriend” was clearly in pain!

you emotions spiraled again, this time becoming hot with anger. they kidnapped you, stole you away from everybody else you had ever known, left you with no other way for you to take care of yourself, and now they were no longer interested in you? what were you supposed to do now? they couldn’t really let you go, you’d seen too much and have too much evidence against them.

and now you were seized by fear again. would they kill you? you couldn’t give one good reason why they wouldn’t - if they had truly lost interest in you.
