Popstar creatures part 5

1 Gordo: Levitating sea urchin/starfish like organisms with a hard spiky shell, sharp arms, and a ring of stalk eyes.

2 Long Gordo: Gordo but long. Needed more points of articulation for the shell.

3 Blado: Gordo relative with cutting implements.

4 Turbite: Small electrical magic user relative of gordos.

5 Floof: Curious levitators that create a cloud cover around them for camouflage. May pick up objects.

6 Haley: Fast floof relative.

7 Bo: Shy shadowy things. Hangs out in darker areas like caves during the day.

1 Noo: Territorial fire magic users preferring to live in caves. A pair of tendrils are bigger and more specialized for manipulation.

2 Plasma Wisp: Cave dweller with electricity magic. A pair of tendrils are bigger and even more specialized for manipulation.

3 Booler: Lacks tendrils. Has some illusions of fire and invisibility cloaking at its disposal.

4 Mumbies: A levitating organism protected by ribbons of its own silk.

5 Degout: Mumbies relative that uses a metal shell. The opening can be used as a pseudo beak.

7 Cupie: Flying critter that can shoot arrow shaped magic projections.

1 Kabula: Big floating sky creature. Its mouth is ringed by six eyes. Its markings resemble a scary face. Its single arm can generate orb shaped magic projections. It is often used for interspecies combat, but is known to sometimes attack any flying creature or object big enough to be seen as a rival. Shots are not usually fatal, but still pack a punch (Can't have them be murdering each other constantly). Imagine looking up and seeing a couple of blimp like creatures shooting orbs at each other from a distance but neither will back down so they end up arm wrestling.

2 Smaller Kabula: A smaller species.

3 Magical Sweeper: A floating slime creature that covers itself in a shell. It has six eyes, two of them long ones. If it opens up its shell it can shoot magic projections.

4 Laserball: Orb with a metallic shell. Perceived threats will be warded off by stinging lasers. Can become intangible. Imagine how frustrating it would be to have these around. You can't keep them out of your house if that's where they want to be for some reason.

5 Bubbles: Slime creature with a slick coating on its elastic skin. Attempting to grab it may result in bouncy shenanigans.

6 Droppy: A creature capable of mimicking other organisms, even down to its magic abilities. Its not always perfect in its mimicry though.

7 Oro: Normally low to the ground. If its disturbed it will attempt to make itself look large and intimidating.

8 Mahall: Also known as a trap door slime.

1 Floaty Drifter: Snake like organism with a large frill with fake eyes to startle predators. Can leap into the air and float away.

2 Perara: Flat flying creature.

3 Maiga: Slug like thing. Attempting to eat it will result in it releasing a gummy slime that will glue your mouth shut.

4 Chilly: Slime creature with ice magic.

5 Floaty Cell Core: Aquatic organism that keeps itself moist by surrounding itself with its slime as it levitates. The slime can also be used to make appendages to pull in prey or be launched as projectiles.

6 Pluid: Water mimicking slime.

7 Drop: An unrelated water mimicking slime.

8 Sparky: Slug like creature with electricity magic.

1 Caller: Fuzzy flying creature with wind magic.

2 Bouncy: Uses its coiled tail to bounce. Blade arms are usually kept tucked against its body.

3 Popon: Large slime with acidic flesh and attacks.

4 Twister: Levitating creature with wind magic. If disturbed it will spin into the air. Its eye stalks and large four pointed mouth is the only thing outside of its metallic shell.

5 Mopoo: Levitating creature.

6 Boxy: A creature that produces silk and an explosive substance. It wraps up globs of it to hurl at enemies. It also wraps up prey and food for later. Sometimes it gets its silk packages mixed up and ends up hurling food instead of bombs.

1 Mosomoso: Floofy floating bug things.

2 Soot Bug: Small floofy bug things.

3 Pasara: More floofy floating bug things.

4 Tick: Slug thing with a stabby proboscis to paralyze and liquify small prey.

5 Apolo: Bug things that suck sugary plant sap. They are tasty. If disturbed it will rapidly move itself to the other side of the plant. (I've seen some plant bugs do this irl its cute)

6 Uja: A bunch of bugs in a telepathic hive mind. The work together to form a solid magic surface over the group in order to attack prey or threats.

7 Soarar: Flying creatures. Sometimes grab things and fly away with them.

8 Capiller: Large caterpillar with inflatable fake eyes to startle predators and announce its bad tasting toxins. Not that big of a deal, unless you happen to be allergic to it or something...

9 Needlous: Spiny caterpillar like creature.

10 Beetly: Somewhat resembles a beetle in appearance.

11 Mariel: Fuzzy poisonous bug thing. Gloms seem to be immune to the poison.

12 Barampa: Flying creatures with an exoskeleton that group up in lines to appear larger.

Benjamin Bernheim, Sabine Devieilhe, Stéphane Degout, Gaelle Arquez, maybe throw some nasty old man makeup on Francois Lis as the Inquisitor. What I lack is a Philip, and a just world.

Il y a très peu de gens que j'apprécie vraiment sur cette planète. Par là, j'entends des gens qui ne me demandent pas d'énergie, ni d'effort social. Et cet aprem j'ai vu une de ces personnes et j'ai ri. La vérité, j'ai pleuré de rire même. J'aime beaucoup cette fille parce qu'on est un peu parei dans notre nature. Insomnie, angoisses existentielles, et degout de l'humanité globalement. J'ai passé un vrai bon moment. Et je suis arrivée pour prendre mon train pour le retour et j'ai vu 1h30 de retard. Puis j'ai vu un mec vomir en plein milieu de la gare. Puis un autre a forcé pour "avoir mon Snap". Puis j'ai appelé mes parents pour qu'ils viennent me chercher et ils ont dit non. Puis j'ai raconté la vérité à cette fille sur le fait que j'avais accepté la tromperie de mon mec. Puis au oublié mes écouteur. Puis.. bah ça m'a angoissée en fait tout ça. D'un coup je me suis sentie lourde de honte, de peur et de fragilités en tout genre. Et du coup, là, jsuis en train d'hyperventiler comme une merde en me rappelant que je déteste tout ça. Qu'il n'y a aucun charme dans le fait de vivre et que je suis comme tout le monde car je ne retiens que le peu de pire d'une journée même quand il y a eu du positif. Du coup, je me sens conne et ingrate. Et en fait, c'est vraiment une boucle infernale dont j'ai jamais l'impression de sortir. Je me sens juste pas à ma place. Il y a des jours où vraiment, je sais pas ce que je fais là. Je base pas ça sur un retard de train sinon je me serais flinguée plus tôt. Juste je sais pas. Pourquoi on s'inflige tout ça ? Je comprends pas.

Congrats on watching the 2004 Faust! Bryn Terfel's Mephisto has to be one of the best acting efforts in any opera recording ever, to me. Mildly unusual take on the character, but just honestly 100% perfect in every scene. He's so ugly! And he's so disappointed! And he's evil! Performance of all time. And I agree the serenade/duel scene is fantastic.

Oh their Marguerite also has the rare combo of being super beautiful and sounding super good. I love her. Alagna Faust also not bad, I like how he's so small. And the cartwheel of course.

And the ballet dancers 😭😭😭 And how the devils come out to cheer / mock the patriotism during the soldiers' chorus. That's like borderline poignant.

Well this was really more of a comment than a question but I just love that recording.

Okay I gotta admit: I actually thought Bryn Terfel's Mephistopheles was really hot. In a creepy and sweaty way, certainly, but also, really hot. Maybe I'm weird? (Or a Marthe kinnie.) He absolutely rocked that ballgown. And we are, at any rate, in complete agreement that he was AWESOME. THAT SOUL-PIERCING STARE. I honestly saw a lot of Marlowe's Mephistopheles in his take on the role--that very grim quality he brings to it, and the touches of melancholy at the beginning and end. Maybe the Marlowe vibes are a British thing? Really interesting contrast with Erwin Schrott's Mephistopheles, who brings a lot more of the traditional sass (and who also absolutely rocks the ballgown, of course). Terfel's version would never do the dork dance that Schrott does at the end of "Le veau d'or" (NB. I love the dork dance.) I also thought the 2004 had more homoeroticism than the 2019 and of course I'm always gonna be on board for that.

Angela Gheorghiu is pretty much always great, I agree. She was still married to Roberto Alagna when they did this and real-life couples don't always have chemistry in performance but they did here--obviously they are playing a disaster couple but you still need to have chemistry. I'm not a huge fan of Alagna's singing generally (too reedy and scoopy for me) but his acting and especially his physical acting was really good. (Another interesting contrast: Michael Fabiano in 2019 reads a lot younger than Alagna does in 2004 even though the relative ages at the time of the performances are not that far apart: 35 vs. 41. They were both younger than I am now! I guess Fabiano is just more baby-faced but their duets with their respective Marguerites read pretty differently.)

Also agreed about the soldiers' chorus--given the setting in Belle Epoque (and the fact that I wrote a giant term paper about it in high school) it gives the impression that the war they're coming back from is the Franco-Prussian (even though the localization is not that literal/specific) in which case, of course, they'd be coming back from getting pasted.

ANYWAY. YES. Love this production a lot, both versions. Oh, I also thought that although the DVD quality wasn't as clear (it predates HD I think, or at least HD being common), some of the scenes were filmed in a way that makes the narrative a little clearer -- the Walpurgisnacht ballet in particular. I thought the actual dancing was stronger in 2019 but the 2004 filming put you closer to it. (Also you got a better sense of Faust's reactions; in the 2019 you could hardly see him.)

Coucou tumblr.

Encore un week-end où je n'ai fait que manger. Au moment où je t'écris je suis entourée de tous les déchets de ce que j'ai mangé aujourd'hui.

En fait j'ai compris, je ne serai jamais cette fille qui est "naturellement belle". Je ne serai jamais cette fille qu'on prend en photo sans prévenir et qui sera belle. Je ne ressemblerai pas à ces filles d'Instagram qui ont l'air irréelles mais qui existent pourtant bel et bien. Moi aussi j'aimerais qu'on pense de moi que je suis irréelle tellement je suis belle. Mais je ne suis qu'une fille perdue entre ses 16 et 21 ans qui combat toujours les mêmes choses. Je déteste voir des vidéos et photos de moi d'avant. Je déteste voir comment j'étais et je me déteste de ne pas avoir vu que j'étais fine parce que maintenant je suis vraiment grosse et je me déteste tous les jours. Je me sens tellement pas à l'aise dans ce corps. Je veux même pas en parler I. parce que je sais que c'est pas simple pour lui et que ça doit être impossible de gérer ça. J'ai eu tellement honte quand il m'a montré le beurre parce qu'il pensait que c'était mes colocs qui l'avaient mangé mais non, c'était moi. Quand il est parti l'autre jour je me suis goinfrée sur tout ce que je voyais. Des tranches de salami, chips, miel et ce fameux beurre. Evidemment je ne le lui ai pas dit parce que j'ai trop honte. Et je sais que ces discours sont bienveillants et ils me font généralement du bien mais ça fait mal d'entendre un "il faut diminuer tes doses, tu manges peut-être encore un peu trop" (et je sais de quoi ça peut avoir l'air mais il le dit avec toute la bienveillance du monde). Pourtant j'ai l'impression de pas manger beaucoup quand je fais pas de bêtises. Peut-être que si j'avais pas arrêté de me faire vomir depuis aout, je serais fine maintenant.

J'ai passé mon week-end à manger et à chercher des médicaments forts pour maigrir mais ils coutaient tous si chers. J'en ai marre d'avoir mal au ventre à cause de mon pantalon. J'en ai marre tumblr. Je fais que pleurer parce que ce combat me consomme trop d'énergie. Parfois j'ai l'impression que je vais enfin guérir de ce trouble de merde mais la seconde d'après je me retrouve à dévaliser le placard. Je souffre tellement de tout ça. Je le réalise moi-même pas. J'ai tellement peur de prendre encore plus de poids, de devoir encore acheter un pantalon une taille au dessus. Ca fait un an que j'essaye de perdre du poids sainement et j'ai eu des rechutes, j'ai perdu un peu puis encore des rechutes et finalement, même si j'ai perdu un peu de poids depuis 2 mois, j'en ai quand même repris depuis 1 an donc au final ça revient à 0 voir même -5.

Pourquoi je peux pas être comme toutes ces filles fines? Je demande juste ça. Pourquoi je galère autant. Même les vidéos des filles qui ont perdu plein de poids en 1 an ne me motive plus. Je les admire mais je me sens si mal parce que les vidéos que j'avais faite de moi pour ensuite montrer mon évolution sont tellement ridicules parce que tout ce que j'ai fait c'est prendre du poids. J'étais plus fine sur ces putains de vidéo alors que j'étais censée faire une suite où j'étais plus fine!!!!! Si je finissais ces vidéos je passerai juste de fine à grosse et c'est honteux. Je l'ai jamais dit à personne mais c'est tellement de honte ça. Et je voudrais pouvoir accepter ce poids en plus et me sentir belle et m'assumer mais je me DEGOUTE.

Je suis tellement fatiguée d'être ce que je suis. J'en peux plus de voir ce ventre rond. Je veux plus le voir. Je veux retomber dans cette spirale à me faire du mal, à me faire vomir, à rien manger et c'est tout. J'étais pas heureuse mais j'étais mince. Je veux de nouveau avoir cet écart entre mes cuisses, rentrer mon ventre et voir mes côtes.

Je veux plus de ce corps.
