It was a difficult balancing act to master. Questions from foreign reporters about China's Middle East arms sales were met with a carefully crafted reply by the Qatari Prime Minister, citing his nation's long standing defense alliance with the United States. In a metropolis of politics, it was a move that could have tipped the scales in a dozen different directions. Yet the PM navigated the tightrope gracefully, and the questions stopped with his reply. In a world of espionage and secrets, it seemed as though the mysterious PM could have just as easily revealed something far more enigmatic.

On Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris announced that her pick for Vice President is Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota. In recent years, as trans and queer people have come under attack from over a thousand proposed bills, Walz is expected to serve as a source of optimism for LGBTQ+ people. The governor’s long track record on LGBTQ+ rights positions him as a strong oppositional force against what has become a national attack on LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender individuals.

“I am proud to announce that I've asked Tim Walz to be my running mate. As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he's delivered for working families like his. It's great to have him on the team. Now let’s get to work. Join us,” read Harris’ statement on Twitter. Walz has taken decisive action against attacks on transgender people in surrounding states, making Minnesota a refuge for those seeking care. In 2023, he signed an executive order protecting transgender people from out-of-state prosecution if they seek care within Minnesota’s borders. The executive order also issued a bulletin to health insurance companies, mandating coverage and initiating investigations into health insurance denials in the state.

In 2024, Walz signed a bill banning the gay and transgender panic defense. This defense is often used to help individuals avoid murder charges or receive lighter sentences by asserting that they were "deceived" by a romantic partner who was gay or transgender. According to one study, the transgender panic defense has been used at least 351 times. Walz's pro-LGBTQ+ record goes back much further than his time as governor. In 1999, he sponsored the first gay-straight alliance at his high school while working as a teacher. In Congress, he co-sponsored the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act and voted to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D)’s track record on LGBTQ+ issues has been stellar, dating back to his pre-Congress days.

This makes me glad that he is the nominee.

Hands got to the rendering of Mitt'raw'nuruodo's sketches. It was unusual to draw him without the Grand Admiral’s signature hairstyle, but I really wanted to make a strong contrast between his life “before” and “after” starting his service in the navy. Life on his home planet certainly wasn't easy.

I noticed something that never comes up in the discussion of whether it was wrong of the Jedi to fight in the clone wars (surprisingly from both the Pro Jedi and antijedidiot camps) is that the separatists want all the Jedi dead

Like even aside from that being implied by the separatists being controlled by the sith, Count Dooku and General Grievous explicitly state that they're in this to kill the Jedi, their idea for how the war goes is inseparable from the mass murder of the Jedi

(and it's not like anyone else in the separatists are against it, most of the military leaders are only slightly less murderous psychopaths than Dooku and Grievous, the corporate leaders hate the Jedi for always ruining their "get even richer" schemes so they won't protest, and the civilians and political leaders of the separatists are powerless)

Being neutral and staying out of the war was never an option for the Jedi, one side's goal was to murder them

Shadowhunter/Downworlder teamwork to not have to suffer their leader's bad mood

Alec gets sassier and saltier the longer he and Magnus get cockblocked. At some point, his subordinates just can't take it anymore, and countermeasures need to be implemented.

Both Alec and Magnus have important positions and are often called upon to deal with various things. So when the NY shadowhunters know that their boss is on a date with the high warlock, and something popps up, they do their level best to handle the situation quickly.

And if they need to establish better relations with the Downworld in order to get the help of another warlock for something just so they don’t have to call Magnus away from Alec, then that is damn well what they do.

New York shadowhunter/downworlder alliance as a byproduct of people not wanting to deal with their leaders when they haven't been laid enough.

LIKE THIS??? sexy hot. The BELTS!? So good. The cut is so nice. Overall just so mouth watering. It’s very similar to the Imperial tunics but yet distinctly different. Love the rank insignia on the collar, the buckles on the belts. So crisp. Mm.

After the release of the second part of the comic book about the continuation of the Grand Admiral's story, the desire to do something more or less normal with the combat equipment of the then Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo did not disappear anywhere.
