Know your Destiel/Cockles history: a calendar
As a newcomer on Tumblr and on the Supernatural fandom, I first had trouble following all the past events that were regularly reminded and celebrated.
On this very special day (December 14th, European time), the following post is an attempt at listing those events, focusing on Destiel and Cockles (with a hint of Jenmisheel). Feel free to advise me for more (or less) dates!

Favourite Music 2024
It was a tradition on my old blog to post a year-end list of all my favourite music releases; a tradition that continued up until last year when my old blog was unceremoniously and unfairly nuked on December 28th 2023. Luckily I managed to recover the contents of all my lists dating back to 2013 via backups and cross-posts, compiled them together and posted them as a group. That post can be found here: Favourite Music 2013-2023.
2024 was a bit of an odd year for me and my relationship to music. μέν thanks to a little chemical help, I've been playing my instrument again and reconnecting with my craft after a few years of neglecting my guitars. I also spent some of the year reconnecting with the music that got me excited about learning guitar when I started learning to play over twenty years ago. δε I didn't listen to nearly as much new music as is typical for me. Every year over this past decade I listened, on average, to between seventy and ninety new albums every year. This year my total was closer to fifty. Anyway, here are my lists (in no order whatsoever) of my favourite albums, my honourable mentions, and my favourite compilations, reissues and live albums from 2024.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island (a movie adaptation of Episode 15), around about late October 0079UC. This is set in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin timeline, and thus the White Base has already visited Jaburo and all members are officially part of the Earth Federation Forces. The Guntank is replaced by a second Guncannon, Sleggar is present, and Cucuruz Doan's Island is relocated to the Canary Islands rather than Japan, although the event still precedes Operation Odessa.

The timeline is a little sketchy as Yuri Kellerne appears in both this and 08th MS Team, but dies in the latter, but the series definitely ends by at most two days after 8th to 9th November and Operation Odessa in Episode 25 of Mobile Suit Gundam (1979).
Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO 2: The Gravity Front Episodes (2008) Episode 3: Odessa, Storm of Steel!, runs from 8th to 9th November 0079UC, concurrently with Operation Odessa in Episode 25 of Mobile Suit Gundam (1979).

Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079 (2006) Episode 1: In the Skies of Jaburo I Saw the Sea, happens from 3rd to 7th December 0079UC, sometime after 0079 Episode 30.

Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: Apocalypse 0079 (2006) Episode 2: Cross the Path of Light, happens from 28th to 30th December 0079UC.
Final few episodes (around 36/37 until 43) of Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) definitively happen on December 30th and 31st 0079UC, as this is when the Battle of A Bao Qu occurs in canon.
Peace treaty with Zeon signed on 1st January 0080UC.

Rainbow's New FF7 HC's/Canon Timeline
This is just a place for me to shove a timeline of both the canon and my headcanons so when I think to myself 'wait how long was Zack a mentee' or 'How old was Sephiroth here' then I can just look here.
[headcanons in brackets]
1959 - Shinra discovers a way of manufacturing Materia.
1968 - The first mako reactor is created in Nibelheim.
1970 - Professor Gast becomes the head of Shinra’s Research & Development also known as the Science Department.
1972 - The second mako reactor is created in Midgar. This begins the construction of Midgar of the modern day.
1976
- Reactor Eight comes online and Shinra headquarters operations begin on June 24th.
- Grimoire Valentine begins to translate the Chaos/Omega tablets with his team. After requesting further help, a recent graduate in Biotechnology and former head of her class Lucrecia Crescent is recruited.
1977
 - On an expedition to the Northern Crater, Gast discovers the body of what he  believes to have been a Cetra. This body is given the name Jenova and brought to Reactor One. These are the Jenova Project experiments
- Grimoire Valentine is killed in a laboratory accident.
- September Upon realising this body still has viable material, a team is put together to study it and through genetic grafting, create the abilities that the Cetra had to manipulate the lifestream in Shinra’s private army. This leads to the creation of Project 0 SOLDIERs (SOLDIERs without enhancements that have been put through training to reach the height of their capabilities) while other SOLDIERs injected with Jenova cells and/or mako become monstrous mutations.
- Experimentation is done using unborn babies to see if they will develop with the gene grafting but there are no living results. One of the scientists, Gillian [Ohara], chooses to inject herself with the cells to dilute the J-cells and after promising initial tests, a sub project (Project Gillian also known as Project G) is set up.  [The volunteer parents are their current Turk security Keris and Gast himself.]
- Vincent Valentine arrives as the new security for the project. He strikes up a romantic relationship with Lucrecia, unaware of the relationship she had with his father.
- [Once Project G successfully receives the initial J-cell infusions without issue, there is a party in the Shinra where a drunken rendezvous between Gillian and another scientist on Project G, Hollander, results in Gillian conceiving a child. After realising her pregnancy may be impacted by J-cell infusions she’s been taking, Gillian loops her own pregnancy in with Project G.]
1978
- Vincent proposes to Lucrecia, but she rejects his advances and instead, becomes involved with Professor Hojo.
- [May 17th] The first baby is born to Project G, named Genesis. [This is about six weeks premature due bodily mutations from the J-cell infusion, causing his biological mothers death before delivery.]
- Initial tests show that Genesis has a ‘unique’ factor but there are no visible signs he is anything other than human.  However, the SOLDIER infirmary  at Mako Reactor 0 (a secret underground facility known as Deepground) was turned into an experimentation facility using samples from Genesis.
- [June] Lucrecia realises she’s pregnant and both she and Hojo decide to use their child as the subject of their own project. Using the research from the initial work and the Project G work to refine their formula to accommodate a larger amount of J-cells, Project S begins.
- [August 25th] Gillian gives birth to Angeal and again, there are no obvious signs of Jenova in him.
- [December 21st]  Sephiroth is born to Lucrecia and Hojo, though he is quickly taken from Lucrecia before she can hold him.
- [December 28th] In light of Sephiroth, Project G is put on ice.
- [December 31st] Gillian takes Angeal from Midgar and attempts to run with him.
1979
- [January] Once Gillian is retrieved, an arrangement is made: Banora, a village that had been set up on a Mideel island, would become their new home. All information would become classified other than the overseers of the town and they would be allowed to live out life quietly. Surveillance would be set up to observe them, but if nothing happened, they could be left alone. Shinra would also offer Gillian money to get set up as hush money, but she refused it and wanted nothing more to do with Shinra.
- [February] Feeling unsure of how to proceed or if he has made a mistake,  Gast chooses to take a leave of absence to explore the Cetra. Although he would return periodically, he resigned his post as head of the department.
- Arrangements are made for Genesis to be fostered by a wealthy couple with Shinra ties who buy out the orchards on Banora. They’re told to report periodically to Shinra on him but otherwise, they’ll raise him as theirs.
1980-1983
 - [On his fact finding mission, Gast meets a young woman named Ifalna who is the local Cetran expert at Icicle Inn.]
- Lucrecia continues to work at reactor one but her health deteriorates, much to the concern of Vincent.
- Sephiroth is raised largely by Hojo at the Shinra mansion. Although Lucrecia is at her laboratory in the same building, the two never cross paths. Gast visits periodically and Sephiroth grows an attachment to him.
- [Gast brings Ifalna to see the ancient body at Nibelheim and upon her horror, discovers that Jenova is not a Cetra but the alien virus that wiped them out. In revealing this, Ifalna also reveals she is the last Cetra left.]
- Gast and Ifalna leave Shinra and go on the run. Meeting with another former Shinra scientist, Bugenhagan, both he and Ifalna remain on the run rather than have her fall into Shinra’s hands. The two fall in love and eventually marry.
1984
- Concerned over Lucrecia, Vincent confronts Hojo about the project and Hojo shoots him. Not one to waste a body that can’t say no, Hojo uses Vincent’s body for further experimentation and this grants him the ability to transform into creatures and gives him a near invulnerable state.
- In an attempt to save Vincent’s life, Lucrecia’s last act before attempting to end her life is to embed Vincent with powerful proto-materia that contains the embodiment of the Chaos weapon that she and his father were researching. She records herself in the hopes he will be able to understand and disappears back to the Grotto where she and Grimoire did their research on stagnant lifestream but the Jenova cells in her body encase her in crystal stasis rather than letting her die.
- Hojo is made the head of Research and Development. Project S packs up and moves to Midgar.
- Vincent locks himself away to wallow in a coffin (perfectly reasonable response)
1985
- February 7th Having settled into Icicle Inn, Ifalna gives birth to a baby called Aerith.
- February 27th Hojo comes to Icicle Inn, murdering Gast and taking Ifalna back to Shinra with her daughter. Ifalna submits to the testing process to protect Aerith and they are largely careful with her as they don’t know yet if Aerith has inherited much from her mother.
- In Deepground, Genesis’s genetic material is used to create the first Deepground child known as Rosso.  Genetically engineered to push the limits of SOLDIER abilities, Rosso is pushed to the harshest possible limits in order to collect information on what SOLDIER can be capable of.
- [May 17th] Genesis and Angeal meet for what they believe is the first time.
- [September 25th] Zack Fair is born in Gongaga.
1986
- August 11th Cloud Strife is born in Nibelheim.
- Using the research from Grimoire Valentine and Lucrecia Crescent’s project and Project Gillian, two Deepground scientists began injecting mako into unborn babies. The only survivor was named Weiss.
1987
– May 3rd Tifa Lockhart is born in Nibelheim
- The third child in the Deepground experiments is born. Nero was born to Weiss’s parents but was injected with stagnant lifestream which gave him the ability to open dark portals, swallowing his own mother in one when he was born. Though many other children were born in Deepground, the three original were orphaned and thus, pushed through a harder regime than anyone else based on their unique abilities.
1988 – Shinra security officer Glenn Lodbrok saves fellow officer Matt Winsord and both are later saved by Lucia Lin.
1989 - SOLDIER candidates - including Glenn, Matt and Lucia - are put through extensive training as part of Project 0. This is the beginning of the SOLDIER program.
1991 - November 20th Yuffie Kisaragi is born.
1992
- War breaks out between Wutai and Shinra.
- Used as a promotional tool for Shinra, Sephiroth is dispatched out under supervision.
- Upon realising that Aerith was coming into her abilities, Shinra begins to push her limits by using a variety of torturous techniques. Ifalna decides to escape but knowing they have a viable candidate in Aerith, their treatment of Ifalna becomes less careful and they only make it as far as the Train station at Sector 5 before Ifalna dies.
- Aerith is taken in by recently widowed Elmyra Gainsborough, the daughter in law of the construction company Shinra used and the Turks are sent after her. However, they do not bring her in and instead only observe her.
- Sephiroth meets Glenn, Matt and Lucia.
1994
- [July Genesis and Angeal enlist in SOLDIER. Although they are taken to basic training, it’s only a week before they’re taken in for SOLDIER enhancements through Hollander.]
- [August Sephiroth and Angeal meet and spar for the first time. Genesis and Sephiroth meet and Genesis throws a sword at his head. It’s how he shows affection, okay?
- [October First deployments for Genesis and Angeal]
-  [December The Da Hoa mission]
1995
- [January - Genesis and Angeal promoted to Second Class]
- Tifa climbs Mount Nibel in grief over her mother and falls, ending up in a coma.
1996
- [Angeal is promoted to First Class.]
- [Genesis is promoted to First Class.]
- [Genesis and Angeal begin their romantic relationship]
1997 - Zack, determined to become a SOLDIER, runs away to Midgar.
1998
- [Zack becomes Angeal’s mentee.]
- [Sephiroth begins his physical relationship with Genesis and Angeal]
1999
- [Sephiroth/Genesis/Angeal becomes a thing]
2000

1985
May 28th: Miki & Kozue’s birth
August 8th: Nanami’s birth
1988
July 10th: Mitsuru’s birth
1990
May
Touga and Saionji met Utena by finding her in a coffin. Though they weren’t able to convince her to leave the casket on that rainy night. The next day, those two noticed a certain look in the girl’s eyes. Seeing something has changed in Utena that neither of them couldn’t do for her.
Utena’s parent’s died in an accident, leaving her orphaned. On that rainy night, she lost the will to live. Until she subconsciously met Akio/Dios and Anthy. From that fateful encounter, Utena found her strength to live. The next day, Utena attends the funeral with her legal guardian. Her aunt named Yurika, who chose to take her in.
Aunt Yurika stated, “Utena’s parents died when she was six. I was still young myself… and I couldn’t explain it to her.” Meaning that Yurika must have been 21 years old at the time. However, an age requirement on becoming a legal guardian to someone’s child is 18 and above.
1996
January 23rd: Ruka turns 17 years old.
February 2nd: Shiori’s turns 13 years old.
On that year, Shiori fell into a river. Juri dives in and saved her, then places Shiori at the riverside. However, Juri loss the strength to swim towards the surface. Until Ruka swam to Juri in attempts to rescue her. The next day, bad news occurred at Ohtori Private Academy Hospital. Juri wakes up from the hospital bed, finding out that Ruka died saving her. She can hear it from Shiori’s cries, asking why he would that for Juri.
1997
December 29th: Utena turns 14 years old.
1998
This would most likely be assumptions and a bit of headcanon. Unless anyone reading this have the actual manga version of Revolutionary Girl Utena, then you won’t have any idea what I’m talking about.
Prologue
Early June (3 days)
Day 1 (Pg3-33) // Day 2 (Pg34-49) // Day 3 (Pg50-82)
During Summer Break
X
July 29th: Utena’s arrive to Ohtori Private Academy.

This saddest of all carols properly belongs to this day, December 28th, the Feast of the Holy Innocents.
We remember today, O God, the slaughter of the holy innocents of Bethlehem by King Herod. Receive, we pray, into the arms of your mercy all innocent victims; and by your great might frustrate the designs of evil tyrants and establish your rule of justice, love, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (The Book of Common Prayer 1979)
Among the innocents I remember today is Leelah Alcorn, and with her all transgender people who have taken their ilves in youth rather than live misgendered and mistreated. The Jesus who made friends of prostitutes, tax collectors, and Roman soldiers surely has a mansion for them in his kingdom.

Didn't Wanna Feel Older in 2024? TOO LATE!
So long, 2023! You have been a weird-@$$ year to say the least. Between by having to repair old thumb drives, purchase a new printer, finding out I'm susceptible to anxiety attacks, trying out dating for the first time, getting my Discord and Steam account hacked, starting a new Discord server since said account was never unhacked, opened myself up to commissions, managed to post art for Halloween, got Covid, summoned more Kaijus to play an elaborate game of poker, and had a merry enough Christmas. Here's hoping 2024 will prove better. At the moment I have no new goals, since I just want to relax after four months of constantly being active. There's a mile of books, movies, and TV shows I need to get caught up on! My opinions on all of them will be given in future Giraffe's Eye Views, but for now let's get to what you all came here for: yet another unnecessarily long list of things celebrating major milestones this year!
You all loved it when I did this last year. In fact it got more attention that anything else I posted, including the original art I put way more effort and time into. Nah, that didn't sting at all. Seeing my sketches get ignored is so much fun. Passive-aggressive joking aside, I do still love making these lists, so let's get started with some major stuff this year.
Tumblr media
Thanksgiving wasn't too long ago, so why not mention that the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade turns 100 this year? I know, that's insane! Watching this festive event has become a seasonal staple in my house and is the only reason I've ever signed up for Peacock. Thank goodness in all those years it hasn't been smashed by a giant monster.
Tumblr media
Godzilla turns 70 freak'n years old this year! How crazy insane is that? Here's hoping his old age won't slow him down when he teams up with King Kong this April. Even if it does, Gojira will continue being cinema's coolest character!
Tumblr media
Contrasting with the King of the Monsters, Mary Poppins turns 60 years old this year. This movie, considered to be Walt's last masterpiece, has aged considerably well even after all this time.

i hope you don't mind me asking but im curious as to what's lorraine's backstory now?
hehehe
tw// mentions of verbal abuse and cannibalism
this was written at 4am so if there’s poor grammar that’s because i am extremely tired and no i will not be fixing it…
ngl the way i wrote it sucks and i feel like it’s really corny but it’s what i have so far for her newer story. there’s most likely going to be changes made but this is what i have so far.
lorraine marie warren was born july 28th, 1975. (in my canon, the present time is 2013.) she is the older sister to lawrence malique warren , born december 11th, 1979.
arthur (lorraine’s father) is a horrible person. while never physically abusing any of his family members, his verbal and psychological abuse left its mark heavily. the one who suffered the most had been his wife samantha.
as lorraine grew, around age 9, she had began to show signs of abnormal intelligence. she had been tested and was given a higher than average IQ for a child of her age. arthur saw this as an opportunity. he enrolled both lorraine and her younger brother into a boarding school. the two hadn’t been bullied however were excluded and not present outside of mandatory academics. lorraine was always reserved and kept to herself, and her brother took from that as well.
however, one day lorraine had an ‘accident’ during free time.
while she was sitting along a tree reading from a book, a group of her classmates asked if she would join them in a game of hopstoch. she agreed and they played.
one of the girls tripped a fell, getting a nasty scrape on her arm. as the group of girls observed, lorraine became.. numb. she stared at the bloodied wound. her eyes locked, watching as the red liquid dripped and fell onto the pavement below.
that’s when lorraine harshly grabbed the girls arm, and bit down on the wound.
lorraine had managed to rip a small chunk of skin off the girls arm, and swallowed it. it tasted.. nice, she thought.
lorraine had gotten expelled, and was immediately sent home. of course, this outraged arthur, and his verbal torment only worsened.
she had enough. lorraine decided that she was going to murder her own father.
december 24th, 1988. christmas eve.
the children had been tucked into bed. lawrence already asleep, and lorraine wide awake.
when the clock striked 3am, she decided it was time to go through with her plan.
lorraine grabbed a knife from the kitchen, and stabbed her father repeatedly. once his screaming filled the room, lorraine panicked and rushed out, grabbing her brother, putting on their jackets and running outside.
arthur would survive the attempted murder. however, he would never see his children ever again.
lorraine and lawrence walked deep in the forest. and then, they found a well. it was.. enchanting. lorraine felt herself being drawn to it as she neared closer.
lawrence had been hyperventilating, crying and begging his sister to take them back home.
“ no,” she said “ i am never going back.”
then, lorraine jumped into the well. lawrence panicked, and jumped in with her. he thought for sure they would have been seriously hurt, but he was wrong.
the two shot back up the well, and fell onto the ground. what the hell? how was this possible?
lorraine stood, helping her brother up as they walked through the deep forest. it .. felt off. this wasn’t the same forest they had been in. this was different.
lorraine’s suspicions had been confirmed when the two of them had begun being chased by a tall, lanky shrieking creature. they ran and ran, growing more and more tired and out of breath.
the two children would be saved by a man in all black, wearing a mask that resembled an owl. he had took the two children, and brought them to what appeared to be a city of some sort. however, monsters and other inhuman creatures roamed freely.
the man brought the children to a rundown neighborhood, leading them into a decently sized house. once inside, the man removed his mask.
it was their grandfather. they were in the underworld.

This trekkie wishes George Lucas a happy 80th.
Prior to the premier of the original Star Wars, Paramount had plans for a new Star Trek series with most of the original cast, which would have been a flagship show on a proposed fourth TV network. Sets were built, as well as an new model of a refitted Enterprise.
All those plans, as well as the plans of other studios, were shattered when the success of Star Wars was evident.
Paramount pivoted and announced Star Trek the Motion Picture, to be released in 1979. Sets were refurbished, and a new model built that could handle the scrutiny of film resolution. Oscar winner Robert Wise (West Side Story, Sound of Music, Andromeda Strain) was tapped to be director.
Despite the problems that the production faced (whole sequences scrapped and refilmed, delays in SFX and editing), TMP was released on December 6th, 1979, though to less than critical success.
Paramount, had enough faith to put their money on a second film, though with a tighter budget. Sets and footage from TMP were reused, and new SFX shot done by Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic.
Two additional sequels, Search for Spock, and The Voyage Home (🐋) were made with 🐋 premiering on November 26th, 1986.
Subsequently Paramount announced a new show, using a straight to syndication model, that would take place in the 24th century, 100 years after TOS. The Next Generation premiered on September 28th, 1987, less than a year after The Voyage Home. TNG would eventually be following by additional shows, all on syndication.
Star Trek became a franchise, all because George Lucas wanted to make Flash Gordon...
So, may the force be with you George Lucas, and may you live long and prosper.
