It's been quiet but I'm back ! Our last conversation was centred around new age religion, we focussed mainly on yoga. We spoke about the spiritual element of this 'exercise' . If you missed the conversation please check out my YouTube Channel, see link on bio. A scripture that came up on the conversation is: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Ho 4:6 NKJV We can all agree that this is true! Some people are involved in astrology, yoga, 11:11, palm reading, etc and they TRULY do not know the spirit weight that these things carries. The Word of God is clear when it comes to worshipping other gods, God is jealous. He doesn't want us to worship Him and other gods. This is not a statement that was made by a Christian or a pastor but this is written God's Word. “You shall have no other gods before Me. Ex 20:3 NKJV There are LOT of bible verses about this topic and I pray that as the body of Christ we do not let trends take over our spiritual lives. Thank you @kekemoloto for sharing your testimony. ........... What is Prayer?
In simple terms prayer is a conversation with God; it's an act of pouring your heart to Him and being conscious of His presence.
I believe for sometime I did what was 'expected' of me when I prayed. I said the right words that made people agree with me. I had to ask myself a question 'am I praying to God or am I praying to people!?'
If it was really a conversation with God, why was my focus on people? If it was a conversation with God I wouldn't prepare but I would allow the holy spirit to help me pray. I would rely on the Holy Spirit not my prepared speech.
It is an honor to speak to the King of kings, no preparations as if I would be delivering a speech and no Facade.
Isn't beautiful that God is not impressed by the 'prayer language' we have created. The heart of our Lord is melted by our honesty, no hiding, no special language but He wants us to be honest.
He wants us to come as we are. No Pretence. No Facade. No lies. No acting. He wants truth. He wants us to be honest to Him about our weaknesses. He doesn't want any posture we believe is accepted. "God doesn’t want something from us, He simply wants us.” -C.S. Lewis
Prayer helps us to communicate with God and we have a responsibility to do it effectively. We can do it effectively through the help of the Holy Spirit. God wants to talk to you, He wants to hear you speak to Him and He has something to say to you as well.
There is no scripture where God tells us to fix ourselves and that to me it means I should come as I am. I don't have to follow religious routines or commandments. God expects us to come to Him when we are hurt, confused, broken, etc. He wants us to talk to Him about everything, He's our Father and He loves us.
Prayer is beautiful. It is heart warming to know that God loves me and He wants to talk to me anytime. In prayer we receive revelations only His Spirit can reveal unto us. God communicates with us when we pray, that's why it is very important not to have a monologue when you pray but to have a dialogue with God. Be conscious of His presence. God will tell you everything that you need to know at that point and time.
The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13; we can ask the Holy Spirit to teach to pray. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future - "John 16:13 NLT." We can trust the teachings of the Holy Spirit
I challenge you to start having a conversation with God when you pray. Listen to Him. Speak to Him as your Father. Ask Him questions and most importantly be honest with Him.

Jesus never ask us to do something that He never did. He taught His disciples how to pray because He prayed. He knew the secret in prayer. He knew the secret of talking to the Father.

Don't lose yourself in Fasting while not praying
However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” - Matthew 17:21 NKJV
This is the Scripture that most of us use when we decide to fast. We understand that some things need an extra mile to be walked or to do more than reading the Word or Praying. We understand that we need to fast.
It's so easy to lose yourself in Fasting and not praying. You may not eat the whole day but get caught up with work or school that you don't set time to pray.
Prayer is a conversation with God so if the whole day we don't eat but not talk to God how are we going to win the battle? Actually I totally believe that if one fast and not pray they rely on fasting for a miracle than on God. When you pray you are declaring that the Miracle is from God and the Fasting is for your discipline.
Fasting doesn't do Miracles but God does. Fasting is for your personal Discipline and for the Benefit of your spirit. Fasting is the dessert of the spirit. The Word and Prayer are the main meal.
Yes some things need you to pray and fast, again don't lose yourself in Fasting that you forget that you still need to talk to God.
