It plays like an average X-MEN issue where Gambit is centre stage. There’s some workmanlike intrigue and a little bit of action. It’s fine.

"It was in a damp, dingy warehouse – that’s why he’s wearing the sweater. . . So I'm shooting Kurt, and I notice the wings behind him. I started moving around to position myself so the wings look like they’re attached to Kurt. It's eerie."

Riding into a gunfight while half dead was nothing on the lengths he'd go for that irritating man. And for Wyatt to pretend like he didn't know that, yeah, that stoked Doc's ire nice and high. Slowly, Doc took halting steps toward Wyatt while he stared at the man unflinchingly. "That is a hell of a thing for you to say to me," he said, hurt plain in his voice, barely hidden behind the forced calm he pulled forth.

Well-meaning but weak.

"Something's causing animals to just disappear."

Wolverine, Namor, Ka-Zar and Shanna investigate the same mystery in contrasting ways, all converging on the same uncharted Pacific island at the same time. First, they fight among themselves - because it's obligatory - and then they face... the Conservator. And they teach him an important lesson. After Devil Dinosaur shows up! It's lightweight and preachy, and the art is too pretty, but the script has some good jokes in it.
