I find Miss Grimshaw’s death to be one of the most interesting out of the characters that die in RDR2 because there is just so much going on with it. She begins chapter six shooting an innocent woman, doing what she believes is the right thing as the arbiter of justice she is described as. She shoots an innocent woman through the stomach for a perceived betrayal, and in doing so, she damns herself. Grimshaw ends the chapter being shot through the stomach by Micah, by the real traitor that she failed to recognise, for what was, in Dutch’s eyes, her own perceived betrayal. Molly confessed to ratting on the gang, something that she didn’t do but knew the consequences of, and Grimshaw, as her final action of the game, turns on Dutch, the man she has been loyal to for so many years, on the side of John and Arthur. Grimshaw’s death comes at such an interesting part in the story, such a climactic moment, and yet it is almost entirely unnoticed by everybody around her. In this huge moment, this standoff between what remains of the gang, the murder of one of its longest standing members just kind of happens, and then the standoff continues as Dutch gives a speech over the dying, agonised screams of a woman who has spent so many years loyally at his side, who has taken her first real stand against him, who has been murdered, who is now a traitor and not worth acknowledging. Grimshaw dies in pain, perhaps the most that we hear from a gang member’s death that we actually witness, though I’m sure Kieran’s torture at the hands of the O’Driscolls was even less pleasant. Grimshaw’s death is the death of what may have still remained of the gang, the security within it that she helped to provide, and her death is the justice that she failed to correctly serve returning to her, her failure to actually kill the traitor then killing her. She is shot through the stomach and dies in pain and the man she had been so loyal to simply does not care

So. I’m. Haunted by the lighting and posing on the CX-2 poster, haunted by the fact that no one will straight up say that Tech is dead or that he wasn’t CX-2, wondering if the CX-Tech plot wasn’t dropped after all, and hoping against hope that they’re putting this man through the wringer so they can pull him out and give him the happiest possible ending. CX-2 had BETTER be in the next series and he had better be Tech, because I need this to make sense. I mean, I’ll buy that the spear symbolically killed the CX-2 persona. I’ll buy, “Oh, he had to be Crosshair’s shadow in the last third of this series but we had to foreshadow him being Tech in the next one.” “The damage you sustained on Skako Minor all of your behavioral modifications,” coming back around. I’ll buy someone surviving that in the GFFA because they can in the real world (warning for a picture of a real life injury in the link). I’ll even buy that the electricity didn’t kill him because the boulders and the waterfall definitely should have (and it’s Star Wars). I really do not care about plausible survivability. I just want the story to make sense and for Tech to get back to his family.
Anyway all I’m saying is why release a poster that’s going to fuel speculation about a guy whose face we never see after the series is done and out? If you actually dropped that plot, why not change the poster? Or just not release it? Why do this? What is the purpose of this?? Because if the purpose was to drive me, specifically, insane, then congratulations, Lucasfilm! Mission accomplished.

Do you think Dutch sees Hosea in everything? Does he find him in flower fields or areas they used to frequently visit and hunt, or would easily bicker until the sun set? Does he stumble upon his life on paper he scribbled over with streams of worry, endless ideas that he scrapped, and thoughts of him and Dutch, and the "good ol days" when waking up truly felt good, truly felt real. Does he find familiar warmth around campfires or is it cold because Hosea isn't there anymore and spewing a yarn of stories he'd lovely exaggerate for effect.
Does he stay awake thinking different of the past, dwindling flames of fears because Hosea isn't beside him now like they had promised? Does he pace around in snow late at night, reminiscing to himself in echos and praying he hears the sound of Hosea laughing along.
Does he find that he's lost a part of his soul and will never get that piece back. Because he'll never be himself if Hosea isn't with him.

The worst part about playing rdr2 again is knowing who's going to die, how they're going to die, when they're going to die, and not be able to do a single thing about it

ok but do y'all ever think about how arthur must've felt when charles asked him to brush his hair for the first time?
like, in charles' culture, hair is a part of their more than just their body, it's a connection to their people, to their tribe and the relationships deeply rooted in love and care for each other. by asking arthur to brush his hair, gently putting the wild boar bristle brush in his hand, and turning around in their shared tent, facing his back to arthur—his hair and vulnerability, his sense of self—it must've been overwhelming to both of them.
for arthur, it meant taking care of a part of charles that charles has never let anyone touch. the last person to brush and braid his hair was his mother, then no one else after that. until arthur. his movements are careful, soft in the way a spring breeze flows through a field of flowers in the mountains, loving in the way they love each other. slowly, then with everything they've got. if arthur has to stop his hand from shaking time to time because he's so happy, so grateful to have shared this moment with his lover, then charles never notices. and if he does, then he never speaks on it.
for charles, it's such a large step in their relationship. he's giving arthur a part of himself that he's always kept close, never allowing anyone to step too close, never letting anyone touch something that charles treasures with his whole being. it's like he's handing over his heart, and arthur is nothing but eager to care for it.
idk man i just think about this a lot and it makes me feel things
