David Gallaher, writer of High Moon, The Only Living Boy and many other comics, was assaulted in New York as he tried to help a girl who was being attacked. Gallaher suffered a broken cheekbone and other injuries after being attacked himself. Inside Edition did a piece on it, and there’s a GoFundMe page that’s been set up to raise money to help with his medical costs.

A group of comic creators, animation actors, and RPG creators are banding together to raise funds for comic book retailers -- by playing the cult-favorite TSR game Marvel Super Heroes.
Writers David Gallaher, Jackson Lanzing, and more will be playing the game live on a Twitch.tv stream April 16 beginning at 8 p.m. EST, looking for fan donations that'll be forwarded over to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC).
BINC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to assisting booksellers in need - including comic booksellers. In the past, BINC has offered financial assistance to comic book stores affected by natural disasters and other unexpected financial crises.
On March 18, BINC stepped up to specify its continued support of comic book retailers in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Middle School Monday: The Only Living Boy: Prisoner of the Patchwork Planet by David Gallaher & Steve Ellis
Erik Farrell is a 12-year-old boy who ran away from home, and that’s when everything completely changed. He fell asleep in Central Park, and then woke up somewhere that looked completely different. He found himself in a strange place, surrounded by bizarre and dangerous creatures. If Erik is going to survive, he’ll need the help of some of those creatures, and he joins forces with a Mermidonian warrior named Morgan and an insect princess named Thea. This graphic novel tells the weird and exciting story of how Erik tries to survive and tries to find his way back home, while fighting against impossible odds.
This series was originally published as a webcomic, which is definitely worth exploring! Give this book to older kids and younger teens who enjoy imaginative fantasy stories and strange new worlds.
