Moana 2 (2024)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
Moana 2 has several scenes depicting extreme lightning at night, including one sequence where a character fights against bolts of lightning. These scenes are predictable for the most part, but the flashing is severe, and the individual moments of flashing in these scenes are hard to brace for. Important story beats will be missed if you cover your eyes during these scenes.
The vast majority of this film takes place on the open sea, so several scenes feature some rocking on the sea. There are also high-speed chase scenes and scenes following flying characters through complex maneuvers.
Flashing Lights: 9/10. Motion Sickness: 5/10.
TRIGGER WARNING: This film features a sequence with a lot of large fantastical sphincters expelling gross fluids all over people, and more scenes using gross-out humor with animal secretions.

Moana 2 (PG): "Nigel Farage's Worst Nightmare"*
One Mann's Movies Film Review of "Moana 2". Confusing (for kids) and disjointed Disney sequel disappoints. 2.5/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Moana 2” (2024). * This title (C) The Illustrious Mrs Movie Man! “Moana 2” – the sequel to Disney’s 2016’s smash hit “Moana” – was originally designed as a Disney+ series… and sadly it shows. That hasn’t stopped it racing to over 600 million dollars at the box office since its release just over 2 weeks ago. Which just proves to me… that kids are really not all…

Question for those who have seen "Moana 2" (and didn't like it)
Tumblr media
I know this post is too early, but if you see this after the poll is closed, make sure to comment your feelings! I'm wondering if "Moana 2" would've been a stronger film if it had the same team. The first film was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements with a screenplay by Jared Bush and songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. In contrast, the sequel was directed by David Derrick Jr, Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, with Miller serving as a co-screenwriter to Bush, and music by Barlow and Bear. This shakeup was the tv show team being carried over for the film, and I do think it suffers for that. The sequel's team isn't a bad team per se, but I'd much rather they worked on an original Pacific Islander musical versus carrying on a big legacy like "Moana." Or perhaps the film was always doomed to fail due to Disney's micromanagement with several of it's last few films.
