Book Thoughts - Daughter of the Sun

Daughter of the Sun: A Mothmar Novel Finished - March 17, 2024 Form - Ebook Rating - 3/5 Non-spoiler Thoughts: Book 1 of this trilogy definitely focuses more on world building and backstory. It surely is building up to the story of Solyana and Pallah and how their stories truly intertwine with each other. But it honestly felt too slow for me where I'm not sure if I am willing to read the next book to see if any of the questions I was thinking of end up answered or not. Spoiler Thoughts:

I'm not sure how I feel about either Solyana and Pallah's families right now. Definitely hate Pallah's dad, his mental abuse is probably the worst kind. Solyana's family kind of feels like they want to accept her as being Rana (those without a gift) but also look down on those who are Rana too, but refuse to admit it because of her. I do find it interesting that the village that Solyana belongs to say that the Heitt are essentially dead and no one, besides Priestess Avi, has the gift of Heitt anymore. But according to the village that Pallah is from Heitt is common. Not the biggest fan of Pallah right now to kidnap a tiger cub. My one big issue while reading this book was not knowing the timeline between Pallah and Solyana. I couldnt tell if one was in the past and the other in the future or if they were in the same time period. It was a little confusing and annoying when flipping between them just because I wanted to understand what significance they had towards one another and if they ever intertwined. Well Rhuth/Halina finding the scroll for Solyana to read made it make sense that Solyana is in the present/future and Pallah is in the past. I'm guessing Priestess Avi is either Vamae or Pallah (turns out its Pallah). Okay now I understand how Pallah and Solyana's stories intertwin. Pallah is a bitch and I absolutely hate her. Her story was meh to me at best maybe it helps to give her a backstory to possibly explain why she is the way she is but it didn't do much for me. All I'm curious about now is what is Solyana doing that is apparently helping Pallah with her plan, to say young or disguised? What does she have against Rhuth/what did Rhuth do? Is there actually a boy trapped near the Nolos? I'm curious about this story line but I'm not sure if I'm curious enough to want to read the next book.
