The Middle

Forgive me for starting in the middle, but that’s exactly where I am. The middle. Middle aged. Middle America. Middle of figuring me out. Middle of deciding to date or be alone forever. 

Using this a a diary/blog/venting space seems like a good idea today. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

I cried...a lot last night. It’s been one month and one week since He Who Shall Not Be Named moved out. I talked to him last night - while drinking red wine. Never a good idea. I believe that he loves me like he says he does. I believe that he wants me and wants to be with me like he says he does. He just wants to be able to smoke weed, drink, gamble online, and not be accountable to anyone more. 

This guy. *sigh* This guy is trash. I’m embarrassed that I can’t seem to walk away and be done. He was a bad idea from the beginning. 

I should have stopped seeing him when he told me that he only sees his daughter on weekends...some weekends. A parent that doesn’t see children often when they live relatively close is likely to be a person that won’t parent like I do. Meaning, we’ll have fundamental differences if we try to merge our families. 

I should have stopped seeing him after the first time we had sex. We waited for a bit before we were intimate. We got tested first, had conversations about what we want. I was very clear about needing to be held afterward. Guess what? He finished, cleaned himself up, and passed out on the other side of my kind-sized bed. That was the first night we spent together where he didn’t hold me. 

I should have stopped seeing him when I told him my soon-to-be ex-husband got a lawyer in our, up to that moment, amicable divorce. He responded with a ‘he should have a lawyer’ and refused to hear any of my worry or concerns.

I should have stopped seeing him when he told me that he LOVED smoking weed and that it was his favorite thing to do. I don’t have a problem with pot. Well, didn’t. I don’t smoke, but who cares if others do, right? He didn’t even have any weed to smoke. He was too broke to buy any.

I should have never moved in. I should have left when he approached me and said...

I should have left when he ditched me to hangout with his friends instead of going to the concert with me on the day of the concert. 

I should have left when he told me he didn’t want to go to the other concert the day of the concert. 

I should have left when he made me feel bad about wanting sex everyday and stopped touching me at night. It was like I poked him with a cattle prod when I reached out and touched him. He seemed to fly to the other side of the bed. Neat. Message received. 

Corona. Corona happened. We decided he should stop going to work for the safety of the family. We had saved a tiny bit of money. He had taxes money back. Financially, we were ok for a few months. He decided to buy some weed. He was using all of this PTO. This was his vacation. Weed. Fishing. Camping. Deep cleaning the house. Sure! 

No. Not even a little.

My basement is so very organized. The garage looks great! The house was clean. He handled the meals. I worked from home. He handled all the house stuff. 

But. But, he smoked all day. The entire day. The ENTIRE day. He smoked so much that he slurred his words and lost the ability to finish sentences. He was super affectionate. That made me feel weird. He didn’t want to touch me when he didn’t have weed. Suddenly he wanted to pet my butt, kiss me, have sex, wanted me to blow him. It was nice-ish. He reeked of pot and had stopped regularly showering. It wasn’t great.

Met a guy online and we texted and chatted for a couple days.
