"Let me tell you something: I've been in the Navy since I was sixteen. Our line of work is a dangerous one. One more tomorrow is never promised. Hell, tomorrow is barely a gentleman's agreement. So if there's liberty to be had then liberty we should take. At two dollars a pack I'll take a risk."

OUIJA (2014)
Tumblr media
Hasbro Studios had a hand in making this cash grab. An interesting but ultimately not that scary and mostly just sad film about teens dying and then missing each other. Similar to Tarot in vibes but at least Tarot had some creative spooky creatures. Most of the movie basically takes place in one house and it isn’t even that interesting of a house so the setting is boring too. There are better ways to spend your time, let me have watched this so you don’t have to.
⭐⭐.5
(Trigger Warning Suicide)
Tumblr media
Okay so she doesn’t get tied up by Christmas lights but she does hang herself with them and I think that still counts towards what I said in my Violent Night review. Especially because there was a Christmas light strangulation in Silent Night, Deadly Night. We are just not going to stop seeing twinkling lights used as a weapon! But this movie starts out really sad because it is literally a funeral and all the teens think their friend killed herself when she was driven to it by some malevolent spirit or something but right now it’s all just a really emotional time. Sad! Laine finds the Ouija board at her dead friend Debbie’s house and wants to use it to try and communicate with Debbie! She gets a group together and they use the board to try and speak to the dead! Spooky!
Tumblr media
It seems like it works too, they are able to communicate with someone named “D” and who says, “HI, FRIEND.” They assume it has to be Debbie and are happy until the next day when they all get a “HI, FRIEND” in their real lives and it is very creepy! They try to talk to Debbie again to ask her what is up and figure out they have been talking to “D.Z.” and are now feeling mighty suspicious. They also learn that Mother is watching and is going to hurt them so they need to run! Scary! As soon as the entity kills another one of the group off instead of banding together they all fall apart, come ON. But Laine is able to get one of them to go help her explore the attic and she finds a creepy doll and pictures which lead her to finding DZ’s family history and living sister who gives them instructions to find her body and snip her mouth strings (her mouth is sewn shut).
Tumblr media
Laine gets in there and is taking her time, I would be speed running that shit, but they want drama, okay. She snips the thread on the corpse's mouth and poof, the angry mother disappears. But wait! Our friends are still dying! Turns out the living sister pulled a mean prank on us! Sad! DZ is the evil one and the mother was trying to help! Wack! Now they have to go burn the board and the body. They lose one more member on the way to the furnace but ultimately get the job done with help from Debbie’s ghost. Everything seems fine and well until the planchette is found in Laine's room when she returns home? I don’t love when a movie ends on a cliffhanger for no real reason other than it can.

Hanukkah on the Rocks - December 13th on Hallmark Channel
One week before Hanukkah, corporate lawyer Tory finds herself unexpectedly unemployed and questioning the career she’s dedicated years to. As she helps her Bubby prepare for the holiday, she embarks on a quest across Chicago to find the last box of coveted Hanukkah candles. Her search leads her to Rocky’s, an Old Town bar, where she encounters Jay, a charming doctor from Florida, his grandfather Sam and a cast of quirky regulars who make her rethink everything. Torn between keeping her job loss a secret and embracing a newfound sense of belonging, Tory ends up bartending at Rocky’s, transforming it into the vibrant “Hanukkah on the Rocks” celebration. Through festive food, drinks, and games, she revitalizes the bar, bonds with Jay, and finds the courage to pursue her true calling. As Tory navigates the holiday, she learns that sometimes a detour can lead you exactly where you’re meant to be, lighting the way to a future filled with joy, romance, and self-discovery. Starring Stacey Farber, Daren Kagasoff, and Marc Summers.

The place where dreams can be made, and hearts can be broken. Living in the public eye isn’t always as glamorous as it seems from the outside. Don’t forget, that spotlight you love so much - it illuminates everything, including your flaws. Between the gossip, tabloids, and grudges this town chews people up and spits them out day after day. The trials and tribulations of the Hollywood elite are unlike any other, it’s impossible to relate unless you're one of them. The high paced, sometimes high stress can get to a person, causing them their careers. Others thrive on it. What will happen to you? Do you have what it takes to make it?
