1. The OA: I will never forgive its cancellation. Contains my number one problematic ship of all time. A true declaration of love in all its forms in a neat two seasons that should have been allowed to grow and continue. I adore it.

2. Altered Carbon (season 1): still love season 2 but it lacked some kind of pizazz I still can't pinpoint. Wonderful exploration of grief and life. Better than the book. Women led!!

3. True Blood: Eric being uninvited from Sookie's house and levitating backwards, offended, out the door will never not be peak comedy. I will never read the books because I don't want to read a world where Lafayette does not live.

4. Daredevil season 2/The Punisher season 1: season 2 of The Punisher was bad. I miss him.

5. Midnight Mass: beautiful, gorgeous, perfection in all its forms. The priest is hot and misguided.

6. Haunting of Bly Manor: queer grief, Big Sads, falling in love with a ghost, blows Hill House out of the water.

7.Battlestar Galactica: the only good thing my worst ex ever introduced me to. Suffering always for my crush on angry old man Saul Tigh. Bisexual disasters everywhere. Starbuck would beat me up and I'd let her.

8. Succession: only time I care about billionaires. Cycle of abuse in all its forms. Would Get Down Mr. President for Kieran Culkin any day of the week.

9. Sharp Objects: gorgeous, heartbreaking, equally as wonderful as the book.

10. Lucifer: goofy as hell award. Would simply declare my love for Amenadiel always. Also Mazikeen.

11. Raised by Wolves: when I tell you I had dreams of flying around like Mother for MONTHS. Incensed by the cancellation. Let beautiful things exist and continue!! Sadly suffers from annoying main character syndrome.

12. Evil: only religious themed show to not give me the ick. Actually frightening antagonist in the form of a pathetic little incel wet man who is constantly being foiled by a gaggle of prepubescent girls. Old nun who is fighting her own war with a broom and a mop.

13. The Americans: loved it more than Breaking Bad 🤷‍♂️, very bittersweet ending.

14. Shameless: never over Mandy's everything, Lip, Carl going from chaos incarnate to Good Man and the scene of Frank thinking that little sick girl in the hospital who passed was Fiona. They did Debbie dirty.

15. Walking Dead season 4: hot cowboy cop rips man's throat out with teeth, reaffirms familial bonds, more at eleven.

the mentalist: I obsess over a lot of shows over time but this? this is a constant, my ultimate comfort, my family, I still laugh at all the jokes and cry at all the sad moments.

shadow and bone: I love everything about it honestly!! like even tho I didn't get my fave ship as endgame I still love it, because the plot is so beautifully orchestrated, and it's like peak of fantasy storytelling, and all the characters are so distinct and interesting and it's like an "everyone's important" show, and there's so much diversity and i could go on forever!!!

the witcher: I remember inhaling that first season and falling in love with yennefer - it was so perfect, last good show before covid came (not the 2nd season though)

lucifer: the writing in this show is majestic! like the concept is already interesting, but the way they handle it? and the way they mix comedy with beautiful sadness and bittersweet moments - love it!!

daredevil: forever salty that they canceled this and took karedevil out of my life and now it's returning without them 😭

bbc merlin: even though it's left me with a permanent hole in my chest because of that ending, this show has a very special place in my heart

Oh wow ok, so if you've ever wondered why some shows rebrand or retitle for their follow up seasons instead of just being season two under the original, this is likely why:

A lot of benefits don't kick in until later seasons of a show, therefore if they rebrand a show, it's technically the first season again and contractually they don't have to fulfil the season 3 or whatever benefits. Absolutely ridiculous.

Daredevil: ever since they announced they were cancelling this to create Disney+, my hatred for Disney bubbled over and I have never watched a single Marvel series ever since, I refuse to.

Killing Eve: I haven't seen like the last 3 episodes and I am living in the most blissful ignorance where the series ends exactly as I wanted it to

That Netflix original Hollywood: what can I say, I am not immune to a Ryan Murphy miniseries (honorable mention to Pose which was objectively better but also I haven't finished the last season)

how does mina connect to the mcu as a whole?

Okay, so Mina starts off in the daredevil netflix series, where she’s on all 3 seasons and is also in the defenders crossover of all 4 and the punisher (timeline: daredevil s1 -> DDs2 -> the defenders crossover -> the punisher s1 -> DDs2 -> TPs2). Then everything got canceled and it gets tricky.

So, we got Matt on She-hulk in a more comic accurate version of himself, which will likely continue, so for the mcu I’ll likely soft reboot Mina as well, which would just be the same Mina with a little less trauma, and be more like her comic self (weird as hell, but well adjusted for the most part). Unless DD: Born again shows it’s netflix matt, in which case it will be netflix! Mina. There’s no place for Mina in She-hulk, but I’m planning on putting her in Daredevil: Born again, the spider-man movies (netflix mina ans mcu mina and peter are childhood friends), Echo (Mina and Maya baby girls of all time) and the deadpool movies past 2 (he’s her bio dad! i never explain where her powers come from bc she’s a mutant). And I can tell you with certainty Mina will never be in an Avengers movie!

TLDR: netflix mina will likely get a soft reboot in the mcu!

Shows I'm Currently Watching

Hilda Hurricane/ Hilda Furracao

So I saw this particular sequence of scenes(? this is why I'm not a published author I don't know the difference) on Tiktok , and I'm not going to lie it immediately sparked my interest. I don't know if it's the forbidden romance or the yearning (have I mentioned I'm a big fan of yearning and seemingly unrequited love?), or religious trauma, but I had to watch it.

Also, the show is turning how to be so much more than expected. How often the church ignores the people on the fringe of society. The scare of communism and how it affects the poor and anyone different from them. Ugh, there's so much to say. It's great!

I'm only on episode 4 (I'm watching it with my sister so it's slow going) and I'm dying to get to this scene.

A quick observation of this gif based on the few episodes I've seen (it really helps establish their personalities, their struggles, and motivations and of course, the environment around them and how it shapes them): Malthus has been struggling with his sexuality since becoming a monk. His friends constantly test his resolve but Malthus stays resolute and doesn't give in to "earthly temptations." His purity and dedication to his faith are the reasons why he's quickly given the saint moniker, especially during a time when "communism" and the Hilda obsession are on the rise. The thing is you can tell he's uncomfortable with the moniker because he knows he's only human who is trying to do his best and he can never meet the expectation society is placing on him. Anyway, he meets Hilda in the most dramatically catholic-gothic way, she fights back and she's incredibly beautiful and she's telling him what he knows to be true, but no one else is saying. His world is completely rocked.

Ugh, I can't wait to watch this episode.

2. What We Do In The Shadows

This is the natural progression of finishing Wellington Paranormal. I loved that show so much so I thought that I would give this show a chance. Also, vampires!

It's fun and silly and it cements my reasons for loving sitcoms.

I'm 2 episodes away from finishing the first season.

3. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency

I've been slowly getting into watching cozy mystery movies and shows again. I think this would definitely be classified as a cozy mystery. While it's a British-made show, the show was filmed and narratively set in Botswana. It's funny and sweet. The main character is beautiful, smart and very sincere.

It's a shame it only got 7 episodes before it was cancelled, but at least there are novels. Also, it's one of the few shows that my cat will watch. lol

4. Delicious in Dungeon

I like medieval stuff. I like the look of anime food. I like Slice-of-Life anime shows. That's pretty much it.

Shows I'm Still Watching:

Abbott Elementary

I forgot there was a new season. Still wholesome. It's a little jarring that Pug from She-Hulk is a regular this season, but I like him. Everyone is still lovable and fun like always.

2. Mr. And Mrs. Smith

I've been watching this at a glacial pace. I don't know what to tell you. I like it enough to keep watching it, but I don't have the urge to binge-watch it. So I'm savoring the eight episodes. I'm currently on the fourth.

3. Daredevil

God, I love looking at this man. Like I said previously, I'm watching this show with a friend and we have a life, so we're watching this when we have time. We literally have 2 episodes left.

Shows I Finished too quickly this month

The Gilded Age

I was not expecting this show to be so entertaining or that it would be so stacked with talented actresses. Audra McDonald, Christine Baransi, Cynthia Nixon?! WHAT?

Also, whether old money or new money, rich people are annoying and out-of-touch. But it's fun to see the infighting.

2. Bridgerton: Season 3

I finished it. I need to watch it again so I can solidify my opinions, but I definitely think there weren't enough romantic scenes between Colin and Penelope before the truth came out.

Cancel at three seasons so no one gets a raise, remove at 3 years for tax purposes. No DVDs. No physical copies anywhere. No syndication. Just gone.

Also watch for Disney cancelling Hulu shows and then resurrecting them at D+, which they did with DAREDEVIL (Netflix). Everyone starting at S1 rates, even though it's going to be S4.

(Netflix has run a variation of this for years. Notice the music on shows like FRIENDS and DAWSON'S CREEK, and you'll find that the 90s hits have been replaced. So they don't have to pay the license again.)

I pointed this out in a Discord server I'm in and thought Id share here:

Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.

Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.

I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.

Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.

So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.

They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.

Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.

And keep supporting the writers' strike.

I just love his character so much and have been a huge fan of him since the show came out, I am so glad to see more people are fans of him now and are writing him the real way he is! It was a bland couple of years after the show got cancelled there was barely anything on jis tag and I had to reread the same five fics and some of them are gone today ahah! Anyway. Dex is such a complex character and needs to be handled with care (literally LOL) I've always loved daredevil but not until recently did I like shift gears and really watched HIM in season 3

Need Help Finding a Daredevil/Netflix Post

Like the title says, I’m looking for a post. I saw it reblogged twice onto our dash and after scrolling three days worth of posts, I can no longer find it. Or I couldn’t remember it and scrolled past it. Anyway! The post was talking about how when Daredevil starts production again, it’s being counted as season 1 (again) to stop Netflix from have to pay residuals. Or something? The conversation moved into why Netflix cancels shows at 2-3 seasons and discusses how streaming = no residual payments, and then it talked about how Hulu and Disney+ were doing the same? If this sounds at all familiar, could you PLEASE send it my way? Thanks!

Yeah, it's a big weakness of trying to build a connected universe. I swear that this is another area the Netflix shows were better at. Daredevil season 2 ended with Nelson & Murdock splitting up, and Matt, Karen and Foggy going their separate ways. The Defenders ended with Matt presumed dead (which had ramifications for the other heroes in the following season of their solo shows that each got, and certainly had major ramifications for him, Karen and Foggy in Daredevil season 3), while Misty Knight lost her right arm (which did have ramifications on the plot of Luke Cage season 2). Misty Knight's partner in Luke Cage season 1 turning out to be a corrupt cop had ramifications in season 2 (as several criminals he put away had their convictions overturned on appeal). Had Luke Cage not been cancelled, season 2's ending was definitely setting up for a status quo shakeup what with Luke now running Harlem's Paradise. Had Iron Fist not been cancelled, we'd have a new status quo shakeup what with Danny having found those chi guns while Colleen now has the abilities of the Iron Fist. And so on.

And to a lesser degree, events in one show could easily have status quo ramifications in another show. In Cottonmouth and Mariah's first scene in Luke Cage, you have Mariah mentioning Wilson Fisk's downfall at the end of Daredevil season 1 while chastising Cottonmouth and Domingo; that same season also has it strongly implied that Scarfe's ability to be a corrupt cop in Cottonmouth's employ was compromised by the exposure of corrupt cops in Fisk's employ (he's under Internal Affairs investigation, and Cottonmouth walks for killing him because the publicity-concerned NYPD brass are afraid of the headlines from facing a second police corruption scandal while still dealing with the fallout from the Fisk police corruption scandal). Iron Fist hints to a degree as to the fallout the Hand has been dealing with in the light of what happened to them during the first two seasons of Daredevil. Daredevil season 3 kinda hints that some of the gangs Fisk was planning to extort for his new protection racket were gangs affected by the fallout of the Stokes-Stylers gang war in Luke Cage season 2. And so on.

I'm sorry, ever since WHAT? You're really just gonna make this huge shift to the status quo in a throwaway line.

That's right up there with Matt Murdock happening to drop the repeal of the goddamn Sokovia Accords in two seconds of dialogue during a lawsuit about some dipshit's toasty pants. Big earthshattering changes like this feel like they should happen onscreen.

Reason #118 why a new Daredevil series, if one is in the works, should remain TVMA: it's the adults shelling out the cash, not the kiddos.
