May I ask why we shouldn't vote for Marcos? Is there any particular traits you are looking for in a President? And can you also tell us what made you want to vote for Leni? /gen /srs
Why we shouldn't vote for Marcos:
A total debt of $395.51 Billion foreign aid that is still taxed for until now. There was a 4300% rise in debt from 1965-1986. Besides building bridges, Marcos constructed in 1976 the overpriced Bataan nuclear power plant worth $2.3 Billion and loans which the Filipinos' tax had only finished paying in full on 2007.
Marcos stole P3.363 trillion if rates are applied to the year 2015, official poverty incidence rate increased to almost half of the Philippines, underemployment rate rose from 10% to 33% in 1985. PH debt grew by $16 Billion in just 5 years.
About 34000 were tortured, 70000 were detained for being "enemies of the state", 3240 were salvaged or killed during Martial Law.
The PCGG recovered a total of P167.5 Billion from Marcos ill-gotten wealth. Kung wala ninakaw, walang ibabalik.
Imelda Marcos is guilty of 7 counts of graft but not imprisoned because of old age.
There are three FINAL supreme court decisions na nagsasabi nakaw na yaman ng Marcos ang mafo-forfeit. Here are the links:

Si Bongbong Marcos ang makakapag mana lahat ng nakaw na yaman ng tatay niya, he is claiming na graduate siya sa Oxford pero Special Diploma lang ang binigay. May statement na ang Oxford regarding that, saying na he is not a full graduate. He was already an adult during Martial Law but hinayaan nila lang na sirain ng tatay niya ang bansa.
What made me vote for Leni Robredo:
1. VP Leni Robredo has been releasing her SALN for years now and making the document public. She is not corrupt. OVP received the highest COA rating thrice.
2. She is a human rights lawyer and an economist. Her educational attainment is enough to prove that she is capable of leading the country. She has a doctorate degree in Humanities, Public Administration and Doctor of Laws - the highest earned academic degree.
3. Leni Robredo received a Special Awardee for Public Service.
4. She is present and has done a lot of COVID-19 response. During the lockdown, she initiated to provide vehicle services to frontliners and more. For more infographics, see this: https://www.facebook.com/rapvinsky/posts/4718605388172019
She is the only presidential candidate who has the least net worth. She is not corrupt as seen by the statement from COA. I'm voting her because she is transparent and she is doing great in her job by serving the Filipino people. She apologizes when she makes a mistake and she is always present. She is the true definition of a leader. Her platform when she becomes a president is focused on recovering our economy and we can trust her with that because she's a graduate of BA Economics in UP Diliman.
She plans to reopen the economy by realigning the national budget to address the pandemic, allotting more funds for healthcare services & facilities, to empower the healthcare system & to invest heavily in agriculture, particularly in technology and farm-to-market infrastructure. She plans to create more jobs to bring back foreign direct investments, which have been in a steady decline during Duterte’s term. This year, annual FDI dropped by 24.6%, the lowest in five years. To make that happen, her priority is to make sure that pandemic is under control.
This post is long but these are facts I obtained from the internet with credible sources like news media and articles. I hope you vote Leni Robredo.

Your political views reflect your morals.
Your choice of candidate says a lot about your character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's 2022. Let's stop pretending that you can be apolitical. Everything is political.

Leto quotes his dad when asked by Paul why we should Let Leni Lead
(this is for those who keep saying Leni doesn't want the presidency that much. That she lacks drive and ambition. God forbid we finally have a President who doesn't dream of being one so she could line her pockets with our tax money.)

PRESIDENT LENI ROBREDO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Destiny in our own hands
If this was the usual in-person campaign and rallies, Leni Robredo would seem to have the upper hand among all candidates judging from the reception she gets when she goes out to meet the public and the grassroots support that she has generated.  But because of the restrictions on physical campaigning, the battle to win the hearts and minds of voters in the upcoming Presidential election may have to be fought in social media. And here, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. seems to have the advantage. This is a factor of the huge resources he has brought to bear to this medium. He has in his employ professional soldier-of-fortune strategists running a massive and sophisticated social media campaign. He has spent millions to buy social media influencers through which he has unleashed his army of trolls. The objective is to revise history and paint a rosy picture of the rapacious Marcos dictatorship since the candidate himself has little to show in terms of personal accomplishment during his term in office at local and national levels. By promoting the notion that the Marcos dictatorship was benign, that people were more disciplined, that the present infrastructure backbone was built, and that the economy progressed - it aims to generate a nostalgia for the “good old days”. And Jr. Marcos, is the one who will bring back those “halcyon” days. Judging from the polls and personal interaction, particularly with the D&E economic strata, it would seem that many of our kababayans are still susceptible to the false narrative that the Jr. Marcos camp is weaving.
To me there are three key messages that need to be conveyed to counter the lies that the Jr. Marcos camp is peddling.
The first is that there there never were “good, old days” during the Marcos regime unless one were to equate it to the assassination of political rivals, repression through murder and torture, suppression of dissent, corruption of a mind-boggling scale, that ultimately brought the country to bankruptcy.
The second is that Jr. Marcos has not demonstrated any palpable capability to lead the country into the new future. There is no achievement that stands out during his years as a public servant. He was elected to public office mainly on the back of the support by the traditionally clannish North who still swear fealty to his father. And now as if we were a royalty not a democracy, he seems to think that becoming our next Leader is his birthright and not something he has to earn.
The third is Jr. Marcos’ flawed character and questionable morals. He has been described by his erstwhile patron Duterte as weak and a drug user. He was a spoiled kid who was raised in England by glorified nannies on money his parents which the local and international courts ruled as plundered from the country’s coffers and not from some mythical gold treasure. Yet despite this opportunity denied to 99% of Filipinos to better himself, he never even earned an undergraduate degree. We have many examples of people endeavoring to earn an education at great sacrifice and who have transformed themselves into worthy individuals. Jr Marcos took the easy path of the pampered and privileged who will never worry about where the next meal is coming from. He lied by saying he earned a degree at Oxford despite the school itself denouncing this. And far from being apologetic about their plundered wealth, he filed cases to claim that portion of their wealth that the government managed to sequester. Worse, despite all his wealth, he is a convicted felon for evading paying taxes even as he held public office.
In other countries, one would condemn his gall for even running. But here unfortunately, there are still people who are prepared to overlook his many deficiencies that clearly show he is unfit to lead our country based on moral grounds, an underwhelming track record as a public servant and a flawed character - an inveterate liar and unrepentant inheritor of plundered wealth. Is this the standard we have come to accept for our Leaders who are supposed to reflect all that we value and take pride as Filipinos and to which parents try to impart on their children? Or is it indifference bred by years of successive administration that have had little impact or consequence on their lives? That this is more a gamble that this candidate might deliver and lose nothing if he doesn’t?
Bishop Ambo Pabillo’s call to action says it best that unless we do so, “the virus of complacency and don’t care attitude of the majority of our countrymen will continue to infect our nation, a virus which destroys not just individual lives but more so the very foundation of our beloved Philippines.”
“Kung Hindi ngayon, kelan pa? Kung Hindi tayo kikibo at umaksyon, kawawa naman ang Pilipinas, kawawa ang susunod na henerasyon.”
The Leni Robredo campaign does not have the resources to match the massive social media campaign that Jr. Marcos is deploying. She will have to rely on people who believe in her and what she represents to convey her messages. We have one advantage – we have truth on our side. We do not have to invent myths to boost her qualities as a Leader – on any grounds. We just have to make it easier to grasp and appreciated. This is the turning point in our lives where we put our faith in character and demonstrated capability to lead us from the malaise that we find our country in.
The Democratic Ilongos for Leni and Kiko (https://m.facebook.com/democraticilonggosforleniandkiko/) is one of hundreds of grassroots movements that have spontaneously sprung to heed the call to action. They have a Facebook page through which they convey their messages in understandable format. They host a radio program that features guests sharing their opinion. This commendable project was initiated by UP High, class of 1983 in Iloilo.
Let us not lose the opportunity to put into our hands – we the people – to shape our country and the next generation’s destiny. We can do this.

Hope starts here.
The first time I posted this photo was in December 2021. With so much hope, I wrote in the caption, "My 2022 President." At that time, she didn't have any further political plans.
Tumblr media
All she was busy about was the pandemic response and being the Vice President that she has been for the past five years — proactive, listening, always working.
Starting today, Oct. 7, 2021, things are about to change for the Philippines... hopefully, as Leni Robredo has officially announced her candidacy for President in May 2022 polls.
Hope starts here, and I'll rally behind this woman whatever happens.
—Indeed, Let Leni Lead.

Today, the Philippines will vote for a new President. A very crucial election that will determine the future of my country. It is a fight between good and evil: truth vs lies, easy dirty money vs hard work, traditional politics vs change, despair vs hope, dark vs light. Life is not fair, and unlike in the movies, the good doesn't always win. So we pray and pray hard that hope wins and the Almighty will take us out of the dark. #4tsphotos #letlenilead2022 #letlenilead #ipanalona10to #lenikiko2022 #kulayrosasangbukas #liwanagsadilim #sagobyernongtapatangatbuhaylahat #kakampink #dapatsileni #philippineelection2022 #election2022 #elections #philippineelections #rosas #campaignmaterials #campaign #volunteer #volunteerism https://www.instagram.com/p/CdTsiKbhcMS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

THE PINK MOVEMENT
Tumblr media
                                   (artwork by Tarantadong Kalbo)
Kamusta? Been a while! I know that the 2022 election is over and this might be late but I just gathered all my energy to post this long planned post that I kept on postponing because either I do not have the enough time or I am still trying to find the right words to use.
To share, it took me more than 2 weeks to come up on how to go about this post. I have to make myself embrace the mixed emotions of anger, disappointment, tiredness, denial, understanding and so on, so I can come up with a better headspace.
Despite having a week after the election, I am still trying to figure out what to feel, what to say or heck, even on what stage of grief I am now. But before I discussed my “post-election” emotion, allow me to take you to the start. On how this People’s campaign or Pink journey started. Or at least, my journey on being a proud Kakampink
If you happen to know me or you’re one of my social media ‘friend’, you know for sure that I am a critic. I voiced out the wrongdoings of the government and call them our for their injustice. I feel like being silent is a guilt and I do not differ to those who's taking advantage.
I remember getting a question from one clever friend who I will vote if in case. I said I don't know yet. As there is no official candidates yet, I said I don't know. Then she mentioned the daughter of the current President we have. She bring up Leni too. She said she heard news about her but VP Leni doesn't have an impact for her. In my mind, "Ghad- Not another Du🐢".
Throwback to 2021, I’ve been researching, silently reading the possible Presidential runners for the upcoming 2022 election. I realized we're all ignoring VP Leni Robredo. It is no secret for me how she managed her job so well despite short to no budget at all. How she act quickly during pandemic. I can go on for hours on the achievement and actions she and her team have done. So, when she declared her decision to run, I am one of who's celebrating. I remember putting a plain pink photo on my IG stories. Letting everyone who can see who I will vote for.
I may need to post another story on what she have done or what is Angat Buhay program because that’s a whole long topic. But if you are one of us, you know. Among all the final candidates, she is the most deserving.
Fast forward to 2022. What I thought of the few, is actually a millions. This even brought me, my sisters and our cousins closer too! To be a part and be involved on the rallies, the house to house campaign, the solidarity walk, the miting de avance - is something that is embedded to my heart forever. The glimpse of hope that is getting bigger and louder as May 9 is getting closer. To see the what they called modern bayanihan, to witness the generosity of every stranger, them lending a hand, the genuine smiles, the different faces of hope, chanting, feeling empowered because finally, and hopefully, there’s a change. I will forever be proud. Habang buhay!  ♡
(Next few post is about the different event I attended. This letter is a reminder that for some time, may kasama akong 14 million na lumaban para sa’yo, Inang Bayan.)
