Danny is stuck in the DC Universe against his will. He is trying to build a Ghost Portal to try and get back home, but he needs to steal a bunch from the different High-Tech Companies in the DC Universe
So now Wayne-Tech, Lex-Corp, Palmer Industries, Star Labs, and everything else you can think of has been robbed by a Meta-Human Theif who can walk through walls, disappear, and fly
Eventually, Danny gets all the parts he needs for the Portal and starts to build it in some forest outside of Gotham.
At the same time, Constantine reports to the League that the small traces of magical green goo they found at each crime scene was Ectoplasm. Basically Death Energy in Liquid Form from a Dimension called the Infinite Realms. They figure out that all the parts put together could be used to build a Portal, and the Ectoplasm makes them suspect that he is trying to open a Portal the the Infinite Realms
Constantine says that the Ectoplasm has energy readings that suggest it is from the High King, but it is mixed in with a bunch of Human DNA. He suspects that Danny is a Thrall of Pariah Dark, created so he could open a Portal the the Infinite Realms and pave the way for his Invasion of their Dimension.
They find a way to track down the Portal, right when Danny is about to open it.
A final battle ensues as Danny desperately tries to defend his Portal, while the computer reads out the Countdown to the Portal Opening. When the timer reaches 1, Batman finds a Bomb near the Portal Opening and throws it into the tunnel, destroying the entire Portal in one go.
They all stand back, watching as Danny stops and collapses in front of the destroyed Portal. Constantine warns them to be careful, Pariah Dark is a being of pure hatred, and once they piss off his Thrall he will attack them with all his angered might. "This bloke is about to explode. Once he realizes what he's looking at, he's gonna-"
But he is cut off when they hear drops of water hiting the ground, coming from the direction of the Portal. Danny is silently crying, looking at all his hard work go to up in flames.
They are all stunned. Constantine warned them that the Thralls of Pariah Dark were incapable of any emotion other than Anger, that they were completely sadistic monsters who took pleasure in ripping Mortals apart piece by piece. But this wasn't anything like that.
This was a Child, crying on his knees while staring at his Portal he had worked so hard to build.
"Why?" He asks.
"You were going to open a Portal to the Infinite Realms. We know you are a Thrall of Pariah Dark, you would have let his army through to our dimension."
"But Pariah Dark is dead."
"If he was dead, then why did we find traces of the King's energy in your Ectoplasm?"
"I'm beat him a few months ago. I'm the new king."
"Wait, so why were you trying to open the Portal?"
"I just wanted to see my family again. It wasn't even going to be open for long, I had a bomb ready to destroy it behind me..."
The Justice League realizes they all fucked up.

madness in a smile, won't you stay a while? ➝ denny.
TAGGING ➝ Penny Sylvester, Danny Sylvester (@dannyssylvester).
LOCATION ➝ Penny and Logan's home.
TIME FRAME ➝ 9/23, afternoon/evening.
WARNINGS ➝ Mentions of kidnapping.
SUMMARY ➝ Danny shows up at Penny's door after twelve years of no contact, and explains why he left. Confusion, anger, sadness, etc etc ensues.
NOTES ➝ Some things now redundant such as Penny's job etc, but the main content still applies.
DANNY SYLVESTER
Danny loved all his siblings so much, but he couldn't deny that he was the closest to Penny, the two of them pretty much joined at the hip for twenty years, so he knew this was going to be hard for both of them. Leaving for twelve years with no contact was dumb, but he was just so mad at his mother that he maybe took it out on his siblings too. Now he was in LA he'd been keeping tabs on his siblings and knew that he wanted to be back in their lives. Taking some methods from his mother, he'd been following Penny and very quickly worked out where she lived and after watching the patterns of her neighbours and others for a week he knew when to make his move. After Penny came home from work one day Danny stuck close behind her and followed her to her house and then giving her fifteen minutes or so to get inside, he raced over to the door and knocked on it, keeping the hood up over his head, he pressed right up against the door, intending to push her inside as soon as she opened.
PENNY SYLVESTER
Although she loved her house, had made it her own and added all of the perfect touches to make it exactly how she and Logan wanted it, lately it was her least favorite place to be. It just reminded her of how broken they were, how broken her “perfect” life was, but she had to silently admit that she liked it better when Logan wasn’t there, and that thought, while true. made her feel like shit. So, when Penny finished work for the day, she took herself back to her least favorite place, intending to drop off her things, give herself a moment to simply sit, then disappear again to pick up the dog from daycare. She hadn’t been expecting company, so the knock on the door startled her, but Penny, still dressed smartly in her work attire, went to answer, foolishly forgetting to check the Ring camera on the way. Opening up to the sight of a hooded figure had her wishing she had. “Um, can I help you?” She asked, trying to reason with herself that somebody coming to attack her or steal from her home wouldn’t knock on the door first, but since all she could see was their hood, she remained quietly cautious all the same.
DANNY SYLVESTER
Okay maybe this wasn't the smartest way to go about this because as soon as Danny heard his sister's voice after so long he couldn't help the smile growing on his face. But channeling his inner asshole self he pushed her, gently, backwards into her house and slammed the door shut. He then turned to face her and lowered his hood to take a good look at her up close after all this time. "Don't freak out." Danny said, slowly holding his hands up and letting her take her time to hopefully recognise him. Knowing Penny she probably would freak, but at least they were inside. "Hi..." There was now a small genuine smile on his face as he looked his sister up and down.
PENNY SYLVESTER
It was true that a person really didn’t know how they’d react in a situation like this. A product of Sue Sylvester, Penny had always had a below the surface mean streak, and she could let it out when needed, so she thought if ever something like this happened, she’d flip. Or at least scream. Instead, she only startled as he pushed her into the house, her heart racing. That was nothing in comparison to the way it practically shot up and out of her body entirely when he lowered his hood, though. Eyes wide, Penny backed slowly to the wall, eyeing the ghost from her past with disbelief. He’d changed, so had she, but as she took all of him in, right down to the smile on his face, this was undeniably Danny. And that was when Penny, tears glossing her wide eyes, flipped. “Hi?” Her voice cracked, but not in the happy, tearing because she was so elated to see him way she’d often imagined when picturing their eventual reunion. “Hi?” She straightened from her position leaning against the wall, edging closer. “You disappear for twelve years, and I get a fucking hi?” Her body seemed to move independently from her mind, because rather than throw her arms around him, she instead shoved him, hard, angry tears finally spilling over her lids. “Where the fuck have you been?!”
DANNY SYLVESTER
Yeah, definitely a bad idea. Maybe he should have wrote a letter. He would never ever want to hurt any of siblings (although it was way too late for that) and he could tell that Penny was scared to start with. So he stood still, arms still in the air in a open stance and he watched the emotions on her face. But as soon as the smile had appeared on his face, it disappeared just as quick. Okay, she was freaking out. "Look I..." And he was cut off as she shoved him backwards, stumbling because he didn't expect it. Chuckling, he shook his head. "Have you been working out noodle arms?" Danny lowered his arms now and looked at her. "In fucking hell honestly." Shoving his hands in his pockets he took a good look around the home, it didn't really seem like a place that his sister would live. "You won't believe me. But that's why I'm here, to tell you everything. Also you really need to watch your back, I've bewn following you for like three weeks."
PENNY SYLVESTER
Disbelief still colored her expression, and Penny stared with a slightly hanging jaw as he had the audacity to joke with her. “Are you serious?” She hissed, trying to conjure up the rational part of her brain, although everything was foggy and clouded, too much hitting her at once. In fucking hell honestly. The admission caused her heart to ache, and had she been less in shock, she might’ve softened, but anger still seemed to be the leading force. “I won’t believe you?” Her voice trembled as she spoke. “Trust me, Danny, I have pictured every single scenario you can possibly imagine.” The fact that he’d been following her only annoyed her more, and Penny huffed as she covered her face with her hands, shaking her head, before wiping her wet cheeks. “You’re insane.” She said, her emotions all fighting with one another until it was too much, and before she knew it, she was wrapping her arms around him the way she’d always imagined, and clinging onto him like she was scared to let go. “You’re fucking insane,” she murmured into his hoodie with much less conviction this time.
DANNY SYLVESTER
Danny rolled his eyes playfully, of course he wasn't serious. "Just want to know how much you lift bro." He joked again, trying to keep the air light, but she was clearly too upset for that. "Pen... I'm sorry." As soon as she was in his arms, he sighed softly and pulled her in close. "I didn't want to leave, trust me. I regret leaving the four of you so much." He reached up to brush a tear away and then pressed a kiss to her head. This was just like when they were teens and she'd been through a bad breakup or something. "Yeah I know, I've been told many times." Penny was always the parent sibling, but she'd taught Danny a lot and he slowly started to rock her back and forth. "Do you wanna sit down or something? You're going to need it. And something hard to drink for sure. Because this is fucking insane, just like me." His lips twitched up into a smile.
PENNY SYLVESTER
Penny definitely wasn’t in the mood for jokes, or teasing, or whatever it was Danny was attempting to do, but she also knew her brother, despite the time apart she knew him, and she knew that was just Danny all over. At least that part hadn’t changed. She clearly needed the hug, and maybe he did too, because she gripped into the fabric of his hoodie like it was some kind of lifeline, taking instant comfort in the way he held her. “Mhm,” she nodded, sniffling as she finally forced herself to pull back. “Yeah, let’s—let’s sit.” Her voice remained croaky but softer now. “The living room’s this way. I would say follow me, but you’ve already been doing that.” It was more a sarcastic comment than a joke. Leading him to the large living room, everything pristine and perfect, she motioned to the couch. She wiped at her eyes again, trying to regain her usual perfect, put together composure. “The liquor cabinet’s there,” she said, like it wasn’t already obviously visible. “I’ll grab some glasses, I just have to—” Kind of all over the place, she trailed off before making her way into the kitchen to grab the aforementioned glasses, forcing herself back into pulled-together mode as she slipped her phone from her pocket and dialed the daycare. “This is Penny Clarington,” she said to the voicemail as she walked back into the living room and set both glasses on the cabinet shelf. “I’m not going to be able to pick up Zoe at the normal time, but either myself or my husband will be by for her as soon as possible. Thank you.” Penny hung up the phone, then looked to her brother as if they were about to partake in a business meeting. “What are we drinking?”
DANNY SYLVESTER
She was gripping so tight to him that Danny didn't really want to let her go. He wasn't a person to look back on things but with the way Penny had reacted he knew that he'd missed her and wished he'd keep in contact with at least her. She pulled back and he sighed, reaching to wipe another tear away. He really hoped his three other siblings would be okay with his reappearance. Rolling his eyes at her jab at him he followed her through the house, still thinking it didn't look like somewhere she would live. Danny took a seat and glanced at the liquor cabinet, opening his mouth to say something to his sister but she'd already walked off. He didn't want to listen in on her phone call but he couldn't help it, his eyes widening as he heard her surname and the mention of a husband and a Zoe. She was married... And she had a kid... He'd missed so much. Once she'd finished he smiled weakly up at her. "Whiskey for sure. But look Pen, if this is a bad time I can come back okay, I don't want to interrupt any plans you've made." Taking a little look around the room he tried to find some photos or something. "You're married?" He asked with a grin. "And you got a kid?"
PENNY SYLVESTER
Penny’s brows pulled together. After all of this time apart, he really thought she was going to let him come back later… “No. It’s fine, you’re not interrupting anything.” Her tears had stopped, but her eyes were still glossy and puffy, and she’d forced herself back into militant mode. She got to work on pouring them both a drink, brow lifting this time. “A kid?” It took a second for her to register the assumption, but when she did, she couldn’t help a quiet, croaky laugh despite herself. “Zoe… She’s our dog. I got her for my husband recently, and she goes to daycare when we’re both working,” she explained as she shuffled over to Danny, handing him a drink. “But to answer your first question, yeah, I’m married.” She lowered onto the couch, fingers wrapped around her glass. “His name is Logan, he’s a firefighter EMT. And you weren’t at our wedding, and you have no idea how much that sucked.” She sent him a sad smile. “Where have you been, Danny?”
DANNY SYLVESTER
Danny just smiled softly and nodded, he didn't want to leave just thought to offer, and by the looks of it she didn't want him to leave either. He frowned as he watched her, seeing her confusion at his question, well what else would Zoe be? "Wait. A dog? You called your dog Zoe? What a lame ass name." His tone was teasing. "And it goes to daycare? Jesus Christ." Taking the glass from her, he knocked some of the alcohol back, letting it burn his throat. Her husband sounded perfect, perfect job to go along with the perfect house. "Yeah it probably did suck, but I would have wanted to be there. Always wanted to be your best man, no matter what." His own smile was sad too. "This is a fucking wild trip okay? And you're not going to believe a word I say, I didn't either at first but it's all true." Sighing, he settled back into the couch more. "You ready for this bullshit?"
PENNY SYLVESTER
Although she still didn't feel much like laughing, she couldn't help another small chuckle. "Logan really wants a kid, and that's...I don't know, not really something I want right now." Penny shrugged. "I think the dog helps." Things had always been like this with Danny, Penny had always been able to open up to him easier than anybody else. It was crazy how that rang true even now. "I saved you a seat," she said in a quieter voice. "I've always saved you a seat, I always knew you were going to come home... Or maybe I didn't know, but I wanted to believe you were." She sucked back a breath, letting the sadness she'd felt when thinking about her brother over the last twelve years wash over her in hopes it would quickly wash away. "You're kind of scaring me, can you just tell me?"
DANNY SYLVESTER
He reached over and placed a hand on Penny's knee, squeezing it softly before he let go, a sigh to tell her that he'd always be there for her. "What breed? I totally want to meet her by the way." But then his smile falters at his sister's next words. "Jeez Pen, you're making it sound like you thought I died or something." He looked down at the amber colored liquid in his glass, swirling it around. "I'm back now. It's not perfect, but I'm back and I'm staying this time."
Downing the rest of the drink, he placed the glass down and turned to look at her. "I found all this out twelve years ago okay? And I stormed out the house and never came back, so this isn't on you, Dex, Sage or Joni. I love you four so much." He never thought he'd say the word 'love' while talking about a person ever again, but he knew he meant it for his siblings. "I'm adopted right? We all knew that. Except I'm not. Sue kidnapped me, I was from a loving family, I was their first born child and Sue came in and stole me away from them." No matter how many times he'd rehearsed it in his head, it still sounded insane. "And you'll never believe who she stole me from. The Schuesters. I'm Daniel Schuester, that baby they lost and it went global to find him. That's me." He sighed loudly. "Look I know it's crazy, but its true."
PENNY SYLVESTER
"She's a beagle, and she's kind of a handful, but she's pretty cute, I guess." Penny had never wanted a dog; Zoe was literally just there to appease her husband and his desire for something more, but she had to admit she'd grown somewhat attached over time. "You can meet her." She laughed softly. "I love how you said you want to meet the dog, but not my husband, by the way." For the first time, she took a small sip from her glass, the burning in her throat a welcome sensation. "I did think you'd died," she admitted, resting her glass in her lap. The words felt so bitter in her mouth. "I didn't think you'd ever just leave, not for that long, so what else was I supposed to think?"
It didn't matter what she was supposed to think, because no matter what it was, no matter the scenario, as Danny began his explanation and the color drained from Penny's cheeks, she realized that was something even her imagination couldn't conjure up. "What?" Was all she could manage at first. She suddenly felt very cold, like she was talking to a ghost or something. "No, that's—Mom does some crazy shit, but that's not..." Not what? The words died on her tongue, because what the fuck? "You're lying..." It was a question, not an accusation, but her voice began to shake again. "Right?"
DANNY SYLVESTER
"Beagles are cool. I approve." When Danny was young he never thought he could see himself with a pet; unless it was the typical wife, kids and dog situation when he became an adult. But he did think they were awesome and now he craved to be the best dog uncle in the world. He just shrugged and grinned. "Cause the dog won't let me down, the husband might. You know I'm going to be overprotective of you." Then he sighs and huddles closer to her. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left the way I did. I should have kept in contact with you if anyone. Twinny." And he nudged her shoulder with his gently.
He knew from her reaction that she wasn't taking it well, and he rubbed a hand over his tired face as he let everything sink in for her. "Penny... why would I turn up now, after all this time, to lie to you?" Danny looked over at her, his expression genuine. "It's true. I found paper work and letters and stuff in Sue's room, she bribed a lot of people to keep it quiet. It was her ultimate chance to get one over on Will Schuester and she did it. Until I found out of course." He shrugged. "Then I freaked out and ran away. I didn't know what else to do."
PENNY SYLVESTER
"Sure they are," Penny said with a lifted brow and a look of subtle amusement. The anger she'd felt upon seeing Danny at the door hadn't entirely dissipated, but it had certainly eased, and talking to him was becoming so much easier, too. Just like it used to be. "You know I can handle myself, and Logan is a softy, so you're good on that front. But I appreciate it." There was something warming about him calling her twinny again, especially considering the weird twin thing Sue had tried to push on her and Robin... Did Danny even know about Robin? She figured they could get to that later.
For now, they had plenty to focus on, and Penny's mind began racing as quickly as her heart. "Yeah. No. You wouldn't," she said, trying to think straight. The whole thing sounded insane, even more so than anything their mom had ever done before. Then again, Penny remembered as she squeezed the bridge of her nose between her thumb and pointer finger, Sue had literally forced herself into labor at Emma Schuester's baby shower with Penny so she'd be born before Mathieu, then she'd purposely gotten pregnant with Robin to replace Danny... "Holy fuck," she finally said through a shaky breath, looking up at her brother with concern. "I don't even know what to say... You know they hold vigils for him, right?—For you?" This was a mess, one even Penny didn't know how to fix, but she knew it was going to fall on her to do so. "God. What do we do?"
DANNY SYLVESTER
"Yeah..." Danny replied with a soft smile. "I know you can handle yourself." Well she could back when she was nineteen, and he was having to try and remind himself that she wasn't that nineteen year old girl any more, she would have changed a lot. "Well I'll believe that when I see it. I'd like to meet him I guess." He could tell that she was warming up to him and that made him happy and hope they could go back to the way they were. "I missed you so much."
"No, I wouldn't." He sounded almost hollow as he sat there, now staring into his lap. Then he laughed, almost bitterly. "You don't know what to say?" Danny shook his head. "I know they do, all the time and it's all a lie and they don't realise. They think the kid is fucking dead but he's not, he's me." He had to swallow down a lump in his throat. "You don't understand the imposter syndrome I've had the past twelve years." Then his expression turned dark. "Oh I already know what I'm going to do. I'm telling the Schuesters the truth. I'm done with Sue being on her high horse and thinking she's the best thing ever, she needs to be brought down a peg or two."
PENNY SYLVESTER
There were plenty of new people in her life—in all of their lives, in fact—Danny was yet to meet, but that all seemed to pale as she continued to try to take everything in. Penny felt sick; she couldn't imagine how Danny felt. "No, I don't." She shook her head. This was an entirely unique situation, and Penny couldn't even try to understand the things Danny had had to wrap his head around—and entirely alone, for all she knew. She watched his expression change, and noted there was something almost scary about it. "Danny, no," she shook her head. "You can't just..." She trailed off, then hung her head. She had to take herself out of this situation, to remind herself that her position as the person handling their mom's publicity wasn't important right now, and remember who the actual victim was here. "I'm sorry. No, you're right, you can handle it however you want. You deserve the space to do what you need to do. And Will and Emma need to know, too."
DANNY SYLVESTER
His fists were clenched now and he tried to keep his anger down, not wanting to lash out at his sister. "I can. And I will." It was the one thing he wanted to see most in the world, Sue Sylvester's downfall. "She had destroyed my life. And Will and Emma's and they need to know what actually happened to their son." Danny couldn't deny it though, it would be strange to turn up on the Schuester's doorstep, he had been essentially brainwashed to hate his birth parents for twenty years of his life. Turning to face his sister, most of his anger disappeared. "She basically left me for dead Pen. Cut me off completely when she knew I had nothing. I can't let her get away with that." He let out a long sigh. "As long as it doesn't effect any of you, then I'm doing it."
PENNY SYLVESTER
Was this anybody else, Penny would be doing all of the damage control she could, anything she could do to sweep this under the rug. Her livelihood came from her position as CMO—and PSU definitely wouldn't want her anymore once this all exploded. But Danny was more important than that, and so was doing the right thing, so Penny simply nodded her head. "Yeah." Her heart ached at the thought of everything Danny had been through; she could see the way it was cutting him up, the way it had been for twelve years now. So, Penny swallowed everything down, then shook her head. "No, it won't affect any of us."
DANNY SYLVESTER
Danny deflated and almost leant his whole body against Penny's side. "Why don't I believe you?" He closed his eyes, his hands gripping at his hair. "What do I do? You're the smart one here, except for Dex. I need to know where to go from here." He needed her now more than anything, her advice and guidance to not do something he'd regret, just like when they were kids. "I want to see her burn. I don't care if she's still your mom, she's not mine anymore." His plans would still be in place, but if there was any chance that he'd hurt one of his siblings he would be hesitant.
PENNY SYLVESTER
"Because I'm lying," she said, deciding that twelve years of wondering where he was, of believing their mother's lies about why he'd left, was more than enough dishonesty. When he'd first shown up here, Penny had felt like she'd needed comforting, but she could see now, with the way Danny seemed so deflated, so broken, that that had been selfish. He needed her, so Penny leaned down to set her glass on the floor, then wrapped an arm protectively around him, giving him the space to lean into her if he wanted to take it. "And I'm not smart..." She lowered her voice, almost embarrassed despite usually being so proud of her work. "If I was, I wouldn't be her publicist."
DANNY SYLVESTER
He just nodded, his hands leaving his hair so he wouldn't tear it out. "You don't need to lie to me. I know you're trying to protect me, but just tell me the truth." Danny felt Penny's arm around him and he sighed, but quickly moved into her space, resting his head on her shoulder. He was never this soft for anyone, but he needed this right now. "You are smart. You brought all of us up, and we all owe you big time. And look at this fucking mansion you live in, you wouldn't be here if you didn't have a brain." Rolling his eyes he huffed. Of course she was working for Sue. "I don't want you to lose your job. I want revenge on her, but I won't do it if you lose your job. You mean more to me than that."
PENNY SYLVESTER
“You think this is a mansion, you should see where the others live,” she said with a quiet chuckle, her arm tightly wrapped around him. Her voice softened a little. “And you mean more to me than a job, so whatever you want to do, we’re going to do, okay?” She pulled back to look at him, trying to show him how sincere she was, though her mouth twisted into a frown then. “We have a little sister, her name is Robin. She’s eleven, and she has Down’s Syndrome, just like Aunt Jean did.” Penny licked her lips, her heart shattering all over again. Sure, Robin was an asshole, the most Sue-like of them all, but she was also just a kid, a kid who needed extra care at that. “I don’t know what she’d do without Mom.”
DANNY SYLVESTER
He probably did mean more to Penny than her job, but he didn't want her to think like that. So he just shrugged and nodded, plans changing so rapidly in his head. But then all his plans went completely out of the window with what Penny said next, his heart sinking when he heard about their, no his, sister. She was right, he couldn't take Sue away from her, especially not when she needed that extra care. "She had another kid to replace me?" His laugh was bitter and he shook his head. Danny untangled himself from Penny's hold on him and he stood up, pacing back and forth, clearly frustrated. "So I came all this way for fucking nothing? I should have just stayed on the fucking streets, let you think I was dead, I'm better off there." His anger was stopping him fron thinking clearly.
PENNY SYLVESTER
Penny frowned, releasing her hold on him to let him move freely. “I don’t know that it was to replace you, it just kind of happened,” she said, figuring he didn’t need any extra fuel for his fire. They’d both thrown a lot of new information at each other here, so she gave Danny his space, just watching him pace back and forth for a moment, before eventually standing herself. “Hey, no.” She shook her head, catching him by the arm mid-pace and turning him towards her. “Don’t do that. I’m not nothing. Dex, Sage, Joni, they’re not nothing. You came back here for revenge on Mom, I get it. But we’re not nothing, Danny. We want you here with us. In fact,” she paused, considering the logistics, “I’m gonna go make up the guest room, that’s gonna be your room for as long as you want it. You’re gonna stay here with me, and we’re gonna figure all of this out, okay? You did not come back home for nothing.”
DANNY SYLVESTER
"Sure." Danny replied. "No, no once I was gone from that house then I was never come back. She wanted five perfect children and she got them. Plus one fucked up one that she stole." He wanted to fight against Penny's hold on him, but instead stopped and let himself have a moment to calm down. Blowing up against the person he was closest to in his life wasn't smart. "I didn't just come here for revenge, yeah that's one of the reasons, but I wanted to see you guys too." He was aware that he could have come back at any time, but needing time to cool off and being in and out of jail and being homeless, it took a lot longer than he thought it would. "Pen you don't have to do that..." Danny insisted weakly, but then looked down at the floor. "Actually I've been struggling to pay rent and was probably going to get kicked out. But I'll give you any money I earn, I swear." Being here in his sister's perfect home with all his problems, he felt quite ashamed.
PENNY SYLVESTER
There was no point in disagreeing; Danny was clearly frustrated, and he had every right to be, so Penny let him have his moment, and decided simply being there for him was the better option. Though, she drew the line with his angry pacing, although it seemed his anger brought forth her more rational, fix-it side. "I know I don't have to. I don't have to do anything, and that's not why I'm offering." It wasn't so much an offer, of course, more like an order. She wasn't going to let him just take off now. Evidently, he needed the room, anyway. "I don't want your money," she insisted, loosening her grip on his arm now he seemed to have begun to calm. "I just want to know you're not going to take off again, and if you're with me, I know you're not." Cautiously, she let go of him completely, though stayed close by. "You're gonna stay here until you get yourself back on your feet, okay? Save your money, get yourself back on track. Just..." Her more rational, stern tone faltered slightly as she continued. "Just don't leave me again."
DANNY SYLVESTER
"Your husband going to be okay with that? You letting your half dead brother come live with you?" He asked, his tone teasing as he lightly rolled his eyes. "But sure, yeah, thanks. I've got like one bag of stuff and a motorbike so I will take up no room at all. You won't even know I'm here." That was maybe a lie, but he'd try to be good. Shaking his head, he crossed his arms over his chest and stepped backwards. "I'm not. I've literally got nowhere else to go Pen." It wasn't going to be easy, his sister was asking a lot from him, but for her, he would try his hardest. "I'll get another job or whatever, but I got to pay you something. I'm not a freeloader." His heart almost broke at her expression and he sighed and stepped forward, taking her back into his arms. "I'm not going to leave you. Ever again. I promise." He gave a soft chuckle. "We're going to be joined at the hip just like we were when we were kids."

All those Danny pics that you’re reposting are making me super soft 🥺 can you write something Fluffy with him? Having sex while laughing and kissing?
Note: let's make this best friends to lovers because it gives me life.
Warning: +18. Penetrative sex, oral sex (f receiving), dry humping. Mentions of food (kind of food fighting while cooking)
You were at his place in Monaco. After the triple header he needed some time off so you suggested to go with him and do anything but racing related stuff.
In the morning you had gone on a hike and while you had planned a nice dinner on the harbor, a summer storm had hit Monte Carlo. So you stayed at home.
He had insisted on try to bake something, but for a guy who didn't know how to use a pan it was a pretty difficult task. So there you were, doing all the job while he kept an eye on you for security stuff.
"Could you please melt the chocolate?"
"Where?"
"Microwave"
He was a good helper though.
"I put the chocolate on a bowl and then on the microwave"
"That's it"
You kept getting the butter ready. There was flour, eggs,... All over the counter and open.
Somehow, Danny started getting bored. He waited patiently for the melted chocolate to get a bit colder. With a cheeky smile he dipped his finger on the chocolate and without a warning he brushed it over your nose.
You gasped. It was still warm. You looked at him with big eyes and an open mouth. The little bastard put the finger in his mouth and sucked the rest of the chocolate from it.
To be fair, it was kind of arousing.
"You asshole..."
You slapped his arm and he laughed hard.
You took the chocolate from your nose with your finger and got it on his cheek.
"Hey!"
"Didn't you want to play?"
"Oh, yeah?"
You didn't liked his voice a single bit.
He grabbed the bowl with jam and got some that then threw to your face.
"Daniel!"
He was laughing so hard. The fucking idiot. You grabbed the cocoa powdar and threw something at him, who instantly sneezed.
"Shit"
You were trying to clean the jam by licking your fingers when he attacked again. This time with more chocolate. He tried to get more on your face but you moved and it stained your jaw instead. You gasped and took some chocolate too. You reached his nose and the side of his mouth and chin.
"Oh little bitch..."
You were covered in cocoa powder soon. And then the tickles came. You were literally in tears. He was keeping you so close that you elbowed a couple of times by accident. You clothes were even more dirtier now.
"Oh, please, please... Stop..." You screamed put of breath.
He did stop, but did not push you away. You were so close, your hands were on his hips and he was looking at you with a different look. Something you hadn't really seen on him. Lust.
"You have a bit of strawberry in here" He slowly said while taking some with his finger. He put his finger on his mouth and sucked it in a bit exaggerated way. And oh fuck... The way those lips curled around the finger. "Delicious. Can't wait to taste the rest"
You weren't sure of what he was talking about. You were kind of numb.
You burst out in laugher when he pressed his tongue to the tip of your nose. His hand was gripping your jaw and keeping you in place. He liked a long stripe up and cleaned the remains of chocolate in there.
He laughed too when he pulled back and looked into your eyes. Some thoughts crossed your mind. Thoughts you shouldn't have about your best friend.
You grabbed him by the back of his head and did the same as he had done. You liked the chocolate away from his nose as he nervously giggled. You loved his nose. Never thought you would lick it one day. The thought made you laugh.
You were so happy. You were laughing incontrolably. And he was now hugging you waist.
"What?" He asked curious and wanting to now about this sudden laugh attack.
"I just lick Danny Ric's nose! Half world mus envy me"
He laughed too and leaned to give your sticky cheek a quick kiss. You blushed and stopped laughing.
You had him right in front of you. His pretty lips yere right there. Begging to be kissed. But you couldn't kiss your best friend, right?
So you did whatever suited the situation more. You cupped his face and leaned. Slowly, you mouthed the corner of his lips, slowly cleaning the chocolate in there. You felt him breathe through his nose and grip tighter on you.
You had never felt so brave.
His fingers lift your shirt and slowly travelled up. You sighed and pulled back. You didn't even know what you were doing. The only thing you were sure of was the feeling between your legs and the crazy heartbeat on your chest.
Sharing a look, both of you knew you wanted it.
He ran his thumb over your lower lip after wiping some of the chocolate in your face. You sucked it and he liked his lips.
"You look so pretty covered in sweets." He whispered. "You may become my favorite dessert after this"
You pulled him in for a deep kiss. Kiss that ended with both of you taking turns on licking and kissing the chocolate or jam away.
You had your hands around his neck and you were kissing all over his cheek to his lips. He was so receptive, he wanted this as much as you did.
"You taste so sweet, Daniel Ricciardo"
You couldn't believe you were doing that to Daniel. Your best friend Daniel.
"Oh fuck."
"L-Let me taste you, for real"
Before you could say anything, he dropped om his knees and you panted.
You were so dirty, full of chocolate powder and flour. The clothes were stained. But it was so hot.
He pulled your (his) sport shorts down and smiled when he saw there was nothing under.
"Cheeky"
You dipped your finger on the chocolate and pressed it to his lips. He opened his mouth and sucked it clean before licking his lips.
Then, he grabbed handfuls of your ass and dive in to eat you put as a mad man. You couldn't even understand how you were still standing. Your fingers were on his hair pulling and keeping him in place as you rode his beautiful face (and nose). You were in a state of pure bliss. You couldn't think on anything else.
"Oh fuck, Daniel" You whimpered as you felt your orgasm closer. "Daniel, please..."
He hummed and sucked on your clit. When you finished, you almost fall as your knees gave up. He let you fall on his thighs and kept you close as you regained your breath. His skin smelled like chocolate and oh, you couldn't resist. You ran the tip of your to gue from his pulse point to his ear.
He giggled.
"You are tickling me"
"Sorry, babe. If I knew you tasted like brownies I would have taken a bite before" You answered.
You looked at him and for a moment you stayed in silence. But not for long. You started laughing so hard that you rolled to the floor.
"Oh shit, you'll never learn to flirt" He said laughing and hiding his face on your chest.
All the movents and rolling around laughing ended with him pressed between your legs, hard on patiently waiting.
"Oh fuck" You groaned when he grinded on you.
He pecked your lips and then your cheek. Findidng a rythim, he started humbing you. You were glad he was wearing sweats. You bare core was completely exposed to him and way too sensitive.
"Oh shit, baby" You groaned on his ear.
"Yes, honey..."
"Fuck me, Daniel"
He devoured your mouth, gently stroking his tongue over yours. You moaned on his lips as he pulled away. He pushed his trousers down and looked into your eyes. He pushed inside and you both groaned in pleasure.
"I can't believe I'm inside you" He said with pink cheeks.
You giggled and kissed him.
"You feel so good, Danny"
He fucked you so deep and nice over the floor, both of you exchanging looks and soft pecks. It was actually so much better than you always imagined. And you had imagined him being a God.
You both came hard and stayed there on the floor, you curled on his side and him looking at the ceiling. You stayed in silence for so long. Soooo long.
"You know? I've always had a sweet tooth" He said looking at you. He opened his mouth and poked his tongue out, licking a long stripe on the side of your face. "Sorry, some chocolate left"
You looked at him in the eyes and soon you were both laughing so hard again.
If you'd knew that a baking session with your best friend would have ended like this, you would have suggested so long ago.

Invisobang: Morge pt 2
It was a beautiful day outside. The birds were singing, the flowers were blooming...a corpse was found in the woods.
Or, Amity Park's local cadaver dog trainer was walking her dog in the woods when they discovered a little surprise waiting for them six feet under.

“It’s like you’re not even trying!” Plasmius barked, throwing Danny an exaggerated yawn while blocking the ectoblasts thrown his way. “Really, Daniel, you were always woefully incapable compared to me, but this is just abysmal, even for you.”
Danny gritted his teeth and glared back, allowing his glowing eyes to glare to toxic levels. Plasmius picked the wrong week to try to steal blueprints from Fentonworks.
“What, are you going to hit me with a little ectoblast again?”
“Oh I’ll show you an ectoblast,” Danny growled, charging ectoplasm in his palms so concentrated that the green glowed a fierce white. He flung his hands out, releasing the energy with a venomous, “eat shit, Fruitloop!”
But just like the rest of his life, his attack was uncontrolled, wild. It flew several feet to Vlad’s side, nailing a road sign and burning it like acid until there was nothing left.
Plasmius grinned at its charred remains. “Was that supposed to hit me? My, Daniel, I’m quaking in my boots!”
Danny felt his aura increase.
This week had already been shitty enough, even without Vlad’s help. He felt like his brain was trapped in a hailstorm, with constant unavoidable attacks pelting him from all sides. His core was a ball of energy and anxiety, not allowing him to sleep or eat or even breathe without the constant fear about his body and how it was being messed with and he needed to protect it and how he’d failed so miserably at protecting it and now his secret was going to be revealed and he was screwed.
“Well? I’m waiting! Tick tock, Little Badger!”
Ancients, Vlad was such an asshole.
“Shut UP!” Danny yelled, releasing his ghostly wail.
Just as a pink blast slapped him across the face, sending him flying into a brick building.
Plasmius tisked, flying nonchalantly towards him. “We can’t have you using that particular power, now can we? Not while you’re so obviously in control of yourself.”
“Fuck off.”
The older ghost smirked and brushed dust off his red and white cape. “Teenagers. Always so hormonal. What, did a girl at school reject you?”
“What are you talking about?” Danny launched himself back in the air and powered an ice blast. “You know what? Don’t answer that. I don’t care what you have to say.”
“No, I’m sure you don’t,” Vlad said, releasing a plasmius blast just before Danny released his own. The pink blast travelled across the air like a bullet, punching Danny in the gut and sending him crashing back into the building.
Meanwhile, Danny’s ice blast flew a foot above Vlad’s head, webbing itself into a tree and coating the branches with thick icicles.
Danny tried to push himself back onto his shaky feet, only to be pushed back down yet again by another plasmius blast.
Brick tumbled onto his head, coating his vision with dust. His body ached, and his neck was sore from the whiplash.
From his clouded vision, a glowing white figure with red eyes and gaudy horn-like spikes for hair hovered closer to him.
“My, my. You really are out of sorts today,” Plasmius said. “This is almost too easy. I could just take you out right here and go take your parents’ entire spectre speeder straight from your lab.
“What do you even need a spectre speeder for? You can fly,” Danny asked, rubbing a lump from his skull.
“A simple minded teenager such as yourself couldn’t possibly understand my reasons.”
Anger flared through Danny. He gripped some wreckage next to him and forced himself back onto his feet. His legs shook and he felt something wet drip down his calf.
Great, he was bleeding. Just add that to the list of reasons as to why this week was the worst.
“Shut up. I won’t let you do that.”
“Oh?” Plasmius powered a pink blast in each hand. “Then prove it.”
Danny tried, but with each attempted blast, kick, or punch, it seemed like Plasmius was one step ahead of him.
And worse, it felt like he was reveling in the power trip.
A burn here, a kick there—everywhere Danny looked, there was Vlad, glowing fist at the ready. It reminded him of the first time he’d encountered Vlad, back at the mansion. Having Vlad so openly destroy him had been shameful.
Danny collapsed onto the pavement, heaving, his entire body searing in pain.
Plasmius paused to survey him up and down with suspicious eyes. Finally, just as Danny was one breath away from turning invisible out of sheer discomfort, did the ghost finally open his mouth. “Alright, spit it out.”
Anxiety gripped Danny’s stomach. “What are you talking about?”
“Something’s troubling you enough to make you pathetically weak. It’s honestly embarrassing. I can’t stand here watching my future ward make a fool of himself any longer.”
“I’m not moving in with you, creep,” Danny bit back.
“That’s what you think. No matter, tell your dear old uncle what’s troubling you.”
“Go play in traffic.”
Plasmius’ eyes narrowed. “I’d nearly forgotten what a brat you are. Now tell me before I take methods into my own hands.”
Danny sighed, and attempted to stand. But the moment his foot touched the ground, a sharp pain shot up his shin. He hissed, and lowered himself back to the pavement.
“Well? I don’t have all day.”
“It’s nothing,” Danny grumbled, glaring at the pavement. He felt small under Plasmius’ critical gaze. “Nothing at all.”
“It’s obviously something,” Plasmius said, landing in front of Danny. “Now quit wasting my time and tell me what it is before I—”
“Then why don’t you leave? If I’m just wasting your precious time, then go home! It’s not like you even care about me anyways.”
Vlad leaned in, flaring his aura. “In case it’s not clear to your simple teenage brain, your actions represent the both of us. You fuck up, I have to pay the consequences.”
“Who says this is even about ghost stuff?” Danny hissed. “For all you know, I got in a fight with Jazz.”
Vlad scoffed. “Do you seriously believe me to be that stupid? Of course it’s about your identity! Why else would your core be acting so wildly if its Obsession weren’t at stake?”
Danny flinched.
“You did something, and I want to know what it is so I can determine if I need to run damage control on you or not before you blow this for all of us.”
“It’s...” Danny felt his aura pull back. “It’s about...you know…”
“I can assure you I do not know.”
“I...I might have…the police may have found...it…’
Plasmius sighed and rubbed his forehead with his hand. “What did they find?”
“My—my, uh...body?”
“You mean your identity?” Plasmius’ eyes widened.
“Not exactly.” Danny felt his face burn. “You know...the body I left when I...after the accident.”
Plasmius reacted instantly. He shot up, glancing around, before grabbing Danny and pulling him through a hastily erected portal.
Danny felt his body squeeze through the portal and then seconds later, he was in Vlad’s study. The ghost threw Danny on his loveseat and heightened his aura. His brows creased, and his eyes glowed a dangerous shade of red. “What exactly do you mean when you say the police found your deceased body? How did this happen? What the hell did you do?”
“It wasn’t my fault!” Danny cried indignantly. “They found it with their freakish police dog! I swear I buried it deep in the ground.”
“Well not deep enough, apparently!” Vlad pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers. “Of all the stupid, childish things you could do!”
“It wasn’t my fault!”
Vlad ripped his hands away from his face, his eyes snapping back to Danny. He took a step closer to the teen, his eyes narrowing until a red glow peaked underneath. “Then whose fault would it be exactly, hmm? What, is this yet another piece of blame you’re going to cast upon my shoulders? Me, the halfa who has managed to keep this a well kept secret for over twenty years when you apparently can’t even manage to keep it to yourself for one?”
Danny let his own ghostly strength shine through his eyes. “Quit acting like I invited them all over. I didn’t, it was a coincidence. A mistake.”
“Oh, goodness me!” Vlad let out a sardonic laugh. “I guess when the Ghost Investigative Ward appear at my doorstep in a month, I’ll just tell them it was all a mistake. That’s sure to turn them right around!”
“Shut up.”
“No I will not.” Vlad’s face set back into a scowl. “You have proven yourself to be a liability again and again, and every single time it’s me who has to clean up your little messes. Messes that you don’t seem to realize could be the end of our kind!”
Anxiety shot through Danny’s stomach. He gripped the arm rests of the chair, squeezing them so tightly he heard the faint sounds of cracking in the wood.
“And now you mean to tell me that the police have your rotting, ectoplasm-drenched inhuman corpse in their possession?” Vlad yelled. “And you’re really trying to argue with me that it was just a simple mistake?”
Danny’s shaking hand slipped, tearing off a chunk of the armchair. It clattering to the floor. “I don’t—I didn’t mean for this to happen. I don’t…”
Vlad closed his eyes, but Danny could still see the wisps of red shimmering through his eyelids. “No, of course you didn’t. But that doesn’t mean we can let them keep it.”
“I’ve tried.” His voice cracked. “I keep trying to convince them to stop, but they won’t—”
“What, you actually thought they’d listen to you? A ghost? My boy, I know you were dim, but this is truly extraordinary.”
Danny sniffed, keeping his head down. He felt like an egg boiling over, the yolk just one jolt away from breaking.
“No…” Plasmius hummed. “What we need is to take it back by force.”
“We can’t, they have the whole morgue under a shield. We can get in as ghosts, and it’d look too suspicious if we showed up as humans.”
“Unfortunately, you may be right about us appearing as humans. We can’t do that. But,” Plasmius’ tone shifted, “one thing we can do is break the shield.”
Danny froze. He gazed questioningly up at the older ghost, who was facing the window with a renewed sense of determination. “Break the shield? How? We can’t touch it!”
“No, but the shield doesn’t exist on its own. It has to be generated from somewhere, doesn’t it? Do you see? We break the device, we break the shield.”
Danny wasn’t following, and he was sure his face betrayed that much.
“Listen, Little Badger. Ghosts cannot touch the shield or the device, but who says—oh I don’t know—maybe a collapsed ceiling might do the trick? Some torn cables, perhaps? After all, with no energy supply, how could it possibly generate the power necessary to produce a shield?”
Danny felt his eyes widen. Something icy settled in his gut. When he spoke, his voice was hollow. “You want to destroy the building.”
“Well I certainly wouldn’t be so crude, but perhaps a few colleagues of mine might be swayed—”
“No.” Danny stood automatically.
Vlad’s head snapped over to him. “No?”
He could feel Vlad’s confusion, and it blended with his own. Deep down, he knew he needed to stop at nothing to get his body back, but collapsing the building? Putting others in danger?
Putting his remains in danger of ruin?
What if something happened? What if a brick fell on his skull? What if a spike tore his abdomen in half?
No, he couldn’t do it. It wasn’t worth the risk.
This was wrong.
“We can’t,” Danny choked out. “You’ll hurt it.”
“I don’t think you understand, Little Badger,” Vlad hissed, leaning down.
Danny could feel the heat of his red eyes on his skull.
“With the position you’ve put us both in? You don’t get to decide what happens to your corpse now.”
“No, Vlad. I’m serious. You can’t—”
“And so am I.” Plasmius straightened, and his aura tinted to a dangerous pink. “You’ve put us at risk one time too many. Now I’m taking things into my own hands. And no amount of scary eyes is going to sway me.”
In one motion, Vlad ripped open a portal and pushed Danny through. Before he could blink, he was back in the damp alley they’d just been in.
“Good day, Danny Phantom.”
Plasmius shut the portal, and Danny was alone.

“Thank you for taking the time to come talk to us about this,” Mark said, opening the conference room door for the consultant before him. “This case is unfortunately a bit out of my expertise, and the lab results are even more perplexing. Hopefully you’ll be able to parse through the documents much easier than I.”
Dr. Maddie Fenton, dressed in her typical turquoise lab attire, stepped through the door and took a seat at the table. “Of course, I’m always happy to help Amity’s law enforcement protect its citizens against ghosts.”
“Well,” Mark pulled out a chair for himself, placing the manila folders against the table. “This is actually a bit more complex.”
“Oh?” Dr. Fenton reached for the folders.
“To bring you up to speed, I mentioned on the phone that we needed your assistance with a murder case involving a ghost. But there’s a bit more to it.”
She opened the folder and leafed through the files.
“The truth is the body we uncovered we believe to be Phantom’s body.”
Dr. Fenton paused, her eyebrows shooting up. She glanced up at Mark. “That’s a rather serious case. What evidence do you have to support that?”
“Well…” Mark started. “When we uncovered the body, Phantom appeared above it, and was acting rather erratically. Like a cornered animal, almost.”
“He felt threatened.”
“Right.” He nodded. “But it’s more than that. When we ran forensics on the body, we found that all our lab results were corrupted with ectoplasm. Ectoplasm that when we ran the ectosignature for, turned out to be Phantom’s.”
Dr. Fenton looked back down at the files. “That’s highly unusual.”
“Well we were hoping you’d be able to piece this all together.” Mark gestured to the files.
“I see…” Dr. Fenton’s voice trailed off. Her eyes scanned the page, hungrily soaking up each word. The silence stretched on for a few minutes as Mark awaited her opinion.
Contacting the Fentons had been something Mark had been pushing off for as long as possible. The Fentons were loud, boisterous, and not at all known for their professionalism nor tact.
But it was either they contact the Fentons or the Ghost Investigation Ward. And despite Phantom’s cold demeanor towards the detectives, Mark still had hope that perhaps he could gain the teen ghost’s trust. And to do that, the GiW could not be anywhere near the station.
Of the duo, Maddie Fenton seemed the most level-headed. And it had just been Mark’s luck that of the pair, she was the one with a doctorate in ectobiology. Which meant that it was perfectly understandable when Mark had requested that she alone come into the station to review the files.
“We’re trying to keep this on the down-low. If Phantom feels like we’re going to turn him over to the government, he’ll clam up. As it stands we’re only barely getting information out of him.”
“Well, I wouldn’t trust anything he says anyway,” she said, not looking up from the paper. “He’ll do whatever possible to keep himself safe. Ghosts are products of their Obsessions, and Phantom is no different. If he feels like this investigation is going to come in the way of him being able to feed into his Obsession, then he’ll do anything to stop that from happening. No matter who he hurts in the process.”
Mark felt a shudder creep up his spine. “Do you think he could be lying about this being his body? Maybe he could have been the one to kill this boy and is trying to cover it up?”
“Hmm…no, that doesn’t seem likely given the labs. And besides, it would be highly unusual for Phantom to be summoned to a body that wasn’t his. Although…” Dr. Fenton mused. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before.”
“Like what?”
“Well, when an animal dies near a cluster of ambient ectoplasm, their body runs the risk of forming a ghost. However, there must be a significant final moment for the neural pathways in the brain to bond with the ectoplasm. That moment translates into an Obsession, which forms the core that the ghost then forms around. If a human dies peacefully, there’s nothing to work with. But if the human dies violently, or if they die with unfinished business, that gives the ambient ectoplasm something to charge with.”
Mark nodded politely, not seeing where this was going. This was all common knowledge for the people of Amity, and Mark had certainly seen enough of the Fentons’ public speeches to understand these basics.
“The ambient ectoplasm comes from the electrical connections in the brain, unrelated to what’s happening in the body. It’s why a human can be paralyzed from the waist-down, but still form a ghost with functioning legs. Do you see what I’m saying?”
Mark nodded, then shook his head. “I’m sorry, I’m not seeing how this relates to Phantom specifically?”
“There’s no real reason that Phantom’s human body should have been corrupted by ectoplasm. In fact, there’s never been a case of a human body with an ectosignature embedded in its cells. It’s virtually impossible, in fact. Living cells are completely incompatible with ectoplasm.”
Mark stared down at his own copy of the reports, his mind reeling. “You’ve never seen this before?”
“Not in my twenty years in this field.”
“Do you have any idea what could have caused this?”
Dr. Fenton pursed her lips. “There’s one...it would explain a lot about him actually. Human experimentation.”
Oh.
Oh.
Shit.
“You don’t think…” Mark’s voice trailed off, his tongue incapable of finishing the sentence. To think that some sick individual would even attempt such a thing.
“It’s the only logical explanation here.” Dr. Fenton gestured at her folder. “Or at least, the only one I can piece together given this information. Phantom would have had to have died after interacting with an intense amount of ecto-technology. Technology with the power to chemically alter every cell in his living body just before finishing him off with electrocution. Of course, it’s just a theory. Only Phantom knows the truth.”
“Right.” He could hardly process what was being said. “But he won’t tell us the truth.”
“Well, I’m not surprised. Ghosts run a different social hierarchy than humans, theirs is far more simple. It’s entirely based on strength. The stronger the ghost, the better they protect their haunt, the more respect they’re given within ghost culture. If Phantom shows weakness, then the other ghosts can use that to dethrone him as the human world’s great protector.”
“But we’re not ghosts.”
“But he is.” Dr. Fenton cocked her head. “This explains other things too. Like the fact that Phantom, a relatively new ghost, is already a level seven on the ectoplasm power scale.”
“I assume that’s unusual.”
“Quite. It would have had to require an extremely intense death at the very least. But human experimentation with ectoplasm, feelling your body reject itself from the inside out, every strand of DNA being corrupted by the essence of death—that’s not an end I’d wish on my worst enemies.”
“And now we have his corpse. Phantom’s going to feel incredibly threatened. He’s bound to lash out.”
Dr. Fenton nodded gravely. “Then you better wrap this investigation up quickly, because Phantom is still a young ghost. He’s impatient, like a child. The longer you take to solve this case, the more unstable he’ll get. And I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end when he finally snaps.”
---
A dull unease panged at Danny’s core. It was calling to him, trying to goad him to his corpse.
Trouble, trouble, trouble, it seemed to whisper.
But he ignored it, just like he’d been ignoring it all this time. Because no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t get past the shields, he couldn’t get back to his corpse.
He was powerless. Alone.
Scared.
He tried to focus on his math worksheet, but the numbers blurred together and he couldn’t remember what eight times seven was. He had a calculator, but it was in his bag and he couldn’t remember what pocket he’d shoved it into, or even if he’d remembered to put it in his bag last night after staring blankly at the homework assignment for an hour without lifting his pencil even once.
No, his calculator was probably still on his desk at home.
Trouble, trouble, trouble.
The voices were louder now, and the pull was more desperate.
His throat hurt, and for a moment he was convinced his lungs were collapsing before he remembered that he’d forgotten to release the air trapped in his lungs and he couldn’t remember when he’d stopped breathing.
“Danny?” Mr. Falluca said from the front of the room. “Is everything alright?”
He commanded his head to nod, but he wasn’t sure if he succeeded. Maybe he did. He couldn’t check, he couldn’t lift his eyes from the desk.
The voices were too loud.
The dull pang wasn’t so dull anymore.
Trouble, trouble, go now, go now.
The pang was solidifying, taking shape. It was becoming sharper, more urgent.
Go now, go now, go now.
The pokes turned into pricks, threatening to rupture his organs, sending needles down the nerves in his arms and legs. A headache sparked before his eyes and his vision swam.
The voices attacked him from all angles, and fingers brushed against his skin, tugging the sleeves of his shirt towards the window, the ceiling, the wall, the door— anywhere so long as it was away from here. Outside. To the morgue.
Go to the morgue.
Ignore it, be strong. Just ignore it and it’ll go away.
Go now.
No.
Go now, go now, GO NOW.
No, he couldn’t.
The pinpricks finally morphed into one sharp, icy cold knife.
It stabbed his core.
Go now.
He stood from his chair, knocking it back.
Vaguely, he could hear the alarmed cries of his classmates, but he ignored them.
The only thing that mattered was his body. His corpse.
Protect.
A hand grabbed his arm, yanking him back, but he could feel the warmth of the human blood running under its veins and he couldn’t be bothered with human problems right now. Not when he was in danger.
He phased through the grip, and ran out of the classroom. He sprinted down the hall, tearing open the familiar looking door and transforming and taking off into the sky nearly as soon as the sun brushed his skin.
This was different than all the other times his core had tried to coax him to his corpse. Something was wrong. Really, really wrong. His body was in danger, and he needed to save it.
He heard an explosion in the distance, and he increased his speed, feeling his eyes sting as the cool air slapped against his corneas. The world blurred, but it was okay. His core was guiding him now, not his eyes. He didn’t need to see, he just needed to close off and follow his ghostly instincts.
“That’s right!” A deep voice yelled from across the way.
Danny pulled to a halt, blinking the sting from his vision.
Then a boulder flew past his body, hitting the wall of a disturbingly familiar building.
His core yelled in protest. The body was in danger. His body.
“You thought a pesky shield could keep me out? Me, Skulker, the Ghost Zone’s greatest hunter? I’ll show you!”
Ice filled his veins, freezing his aura and building in power around his hands.
Skulker hoisted a parked motorcycle from the edge of the street into the air. “Take this!” he yelled, hurling it into the air.
It was heading straight for the door. It was going to break it, it might break the window, it could damage the body.
An icicle stabbed his core, and before Danny could blink, his hands were raised and jagged blue ice was shooting from his palms, catching the motorcycle in midair and pinning it to the street.
“What is the meaning of this?” Skulker roared, whipping around. His eyes locked on Danny and his confusion melted from this face only to be replaced by a triumphant smirk. “Well hello there, ghost child.”
Danny’s palms burned an even brighter blue. “ Leave,” he hissed, the Ghost Speak slipping off his tongue like butter.
Skulker’s grin widened. “It seems I’ve touched a nerve. Fear not, child, I’m just here to procure your pelt. Well, your other pelt.”
He flashed his aura in a showcase of power that would send most ghosts running for the hills. “Leave.”
A look of contempt replaced the humor on Skulker’s face. His eyes narrowed, and his voice lowered. “I don’t take orders from you, child.”
There was a natural balancing act between his human brain and ghost core, one that ensured that neither half of him was in full control one hundred percent of the time. No matter how human he was, his core still lingered in the background, and no matter how ghost he was, his human brain still kept tabs on his movements.
But now, as Danny watched Skulker rip a slab of concrete from the ground, he felt something snap inside of him.
“Then I have no choice.”
Green overtook his vision, and Danny Fenton simply disappeared.
Time passed—or it didn’t—in swirls of blue and green. If he looked out, he could see the power released from his gloves, he could see the mix of ectoplasm and ice that he was hurling at Skulker, to protect the building, to protect his body, to protect himself from Plasmius.
That vindictive, lonely asshole.
Who was Plasmius to encroach on what was his?
There were flashing lights around him, but Danny paid them no mind. The only thing that mattered was protecting his body.
Protect his haunt.
Protect his people.
Protect.
He could feel the newly pointed teeth pinch his gums, and the ghostly wisps of his hair fizzle around him. But oddly these changes didn’t worry him, instead they made him feel safe, secure. Like a child clinging onto their blanket.
He launched another barrage of attacks at Skulker, tearing holes through his armor. Panic struck Skulker’s features, and all Danny could think of was, ‘good.’ If Skulker wanted to try to claim dominance over his body, then he would suffer tenfold.
And just before he was about to launch a blast at Skulker that was sure to disintegrate his armor, an amplified voice behind him called out, “PHANTOM!”
Danny flinched, his power leaking out of its concentrated ball.
Weak.
“Phantom, stand down!”
Not a chance.
“We have the area surrounded. Stand down or we’ll be forced to shoot.”
“Better listen to your human puppets,” Skulker said, his voice too shaken to sound mocking. “I know when I’ve been bested.”
It took everything in Danny’s power to not launch himself over to Skulker and tear off his head. “You tried to steal my body.”
“That’s a fight between you and Plasmius.”
“Don’t try to get out of this.”
“Phantom,” Detective Johnson said. “Final warning. Stand down.”
Ectoplasm surged throughout his body. “Make me.”
Multiple events happened at once. Skulker motioned to leave just as Danny raised his arms, blistering white light moments away from release. Then, pain seared through his torso.
Danny yelped, jerking his hand back and releasing the ectoblast somewhere off into the sky. He fell back and hit the ecto-shield, sending electrical warnings through his bones.
Memories of the portal, of the thousands of volts of electricity, of the feeling of his bones and muscles and tissues and cells being ripped apart and stitched back together flashed before his eyes. It was too much, all too much too soon too present. He tried blasting the portal but his gloves were splattered with green and oh no, not good, not good.
He was dying, wasn’t he?
Again.
Would he have a second body?
His vision tilted, and finally he managed to rip himself away from the shield. He collapsed onto the cement and stared up at the sky, chest heaving.
He was paralyzed. He knew he had fingers, toes, arms, legs—but they didn’t work. He couldn’t feel anything. Couldn’t fly.
He was dying.
“Phantom?” Johnson’s cautious voice sounded from somewhere off to the side. “Sit up, let’s talk through this.”
There was a pregnant pause, and then Danny finally managed to blink. The world snapped back into focus, and his surroundings came with it. He looked down at his torso to see a little hole in his side of his suit surrounded by a trickle of green.
“What—?” Danny gasped.
“I’m gonna put the gun down, okay?” Johnson said. “I just wanna talk.”
“No.” Danny slowly pushed himself up. He surveyed the damage along the walls, the falling bricks on the sidewalk, the shattered windows and bent door. “No, no, no.”
His body wasn’t safe. Not anymore.
“Phantom, come on. Work with me here.”
But he couldn’t. That detective and his partner were just human, they didn’t understand. This was his body and Vlad knew about it and was trying to take matters into his own hands no matter the cost to Danny.
This was a disaster. He shouldn’t have told Vlad anything. He was so stupid for thinking Vlad could help him. He should have known, should have known.
“Phantom.”
“No.”
The cloak of invisibility covered his body, and he shot up into the sky.
Towards the city.
He needed to end this.
---
Sarah felt the chill first.
“You have to stop,” Phantom’s voice echoed behind her.
She sighed and put down her pencil. “Phantom, I thought I explained this already. The police can’t—”
“I don’t care about the police!”
The room grew cold.
“I don’t...ugh!” Phantom floated around her desk, clutching his forehead with one hand and his chest with the other. Mark had just called her with a warning, saying that Phantom was unstable. Looking at the ghost now, Sarah had to agree.
Phantom looked awful.
Dark circles pooled under his eyes, his hair stuck up in all directions, and his face lacked the green blush that normally sat below his skin. His jumpsuit was burned and dried ectoplasm crusted around the torn edges. He looked every bit the image of someone quickly coming undone.
Except this wasn’t just some random person, this was a powerful ghost. This was someone who could easily kill anyone who wronged him.
Or who he felt wronged him.
Deep down, Sarah knew Phantom wasn’t a violent ghost. It didn’t line up with his ghostly Obsession, or the theorized one anyway. But this was his corpse they were dealing with, it was an extension of himself.
Sarah had never confronted a ghost who had lost possession of their corpse. She’d never dealt with a ghost who willingly protected the shield that kept him away from his body if only to make sure it stayed safe. She’d never seen Phantom look so rattled.
At this point, there was no telling what he was capable of.
“Phantom,” she tried cautiously. “You need to calm down.”
“No, you need to tell your buddies to call off this investigation!”
“You know I can’t do that. I have no control over the department, and even if I did, we need to follow the law.”
His eyes flashed dangerously. “Why, because I’m a ghost? Because my words mean nothing because I’m not human? I’m telling you that I don’t want to press any charges, I don’t get why that’s not good enough!”
The room grew even colder.
“We’ve been over this. Please, Phantom, sit down—”
“No!” he snapped. “I’ve been telling you guys since the beginning that this was a bad idea, that people are going to get hurt! And no, nobody listened to me because I’m a fucking ghost! And now look, the building was attacked! My body was attacked! Do you—” his voice cracked, and the glow on his eyes wobbled. He drifted closer to her. “Do you even understand? Do you get how dangerous this is? Do you understand the people you guys have pissed off? Who you’re playing with now?”
Sarah took a deep breath. Even as a human, the power Phantom was emitting was palpable. “What people? You mean the ghost who attacked the morgue?”
“Not him. He—he’s just a lacky. Just following orders.” He let out a bitter laugh, running his hand over his forehead and smearing green across his skin. “You guys have no idea, you really don’t…”
Dread crept up Sarah’s spine. If what Mark was saying was true, then this could run deeper than they thought. “Explain it to me.”
“I’m…” He glanced up, looking ill. “I’m not…normal. For a ghost, I mean. I can’t explain it. I really can’t. But the other ghosts...they consider me a liability. And now that you guys have my—my body, they’re afraid.”
“Why are they afraid?”
“Because…” His brow furrowed. “I can’t—I can’t…”
She tilted her head, watching the ghost choke on his words. “Can’t, or won’t?”
“It doesn’t matter. They’ll stop at nothing till they get my body back. They’ll kill everyone in that building if it means nobody finds out my secret.”
What secret? Sarah wanted to scream, but she held back.
“Phantom,” Sarah lowered her tone. “Are they the reason you’ve been so afraid of us finding out the truth? Have they threatened you in any way?”
“No!” He backed up in shock. “I—I mean, sort of? Listen, it’s not because of him—them, I promise. It’s more complicated than that. He’s just protecting me, you know? If my secret gets out, that would put them all in danger, but it would put me in even more danger. I wouldn’t...I’d have to leave. I’d be on the run.”
“Why?”
“It’s so messed up.”
“Then tell me.”
She already knew. She just needed him to confirm it for her.
He looked to her, his bright green eyes seemingly desperate for help. But he shook his head. “I can’t do this.”
“Wait—”
But he was already gone.
---
“I’ve never seen him look so scared,” Abrams said.
“So you think he’s right.” Crowley took a long swig of his coffee, “Course you do.”
“It makes sense,” Abrams insisted. “Why else would Phantom be so terrified of people finding the truth?”
“Oh gee, I don’t know, maybe it’s because he’s a teen who was playing with electrical equipment he wasn’t supposed to be near and even in death doesn’t want to get in trouble for it!”
“Yes but how would that explain all the ectoplasm in his DNA? That doesn’t come from just any electric shock.”
“Who knows,” Crowley said. “The Fentons have always been crackpots. Always have had ludicrous theories. Now suddenly when it’s convenient, you’re all running to their side?”
Mark rolled his eyes. “We’re not running to their side.”
“Then what do you call this?” Crowley gestured to the duo. “Sure looks like it to me.”
“You have to admit that it makes sense,” Mark said. “I mean, get real. Doesn’t any of this smell fishy to you?”
Crowley slapped his empty coffee mug on the table. “You know what smells fishy to me? The Fentons are the only known ecto-scientists in this whole damn city, the only people who have lab-grade ecto-equipment in Amity Park, and suddenly right when they were getting into some financial trouble, Phantom appears out of nowhere from a death that reeks of forced ecto-contamination. That smells fishy to me.”
Mark paused, but then shook his head. “If that were true, then why would Dr. Fenton even offer human experimentation as a possibility?”
“To gloat? Gain our trust? Test our intelligence?” Crowley threw his hands up. “Who knows? They’re crazy!”
“So you think we need to investigate them?” Mark asked.
“I’d be a damn shit detective if I didn’t. They have the means and motive to create a ghost like Phantom. It’s just like Maddie said.”
“I think he’s right,” Abrams said, nibbling on her bagel. “If this is actually a case of ecto-experimentation, then the Fentons should be on the list of suspects.”
“Finally, some common sense around here. Just about the only case of common sense these days…” Crowley grumbled.
Mark chose to ignore that comment, instead checking his phone. No notifications, damn. The entire department had been on high alert for Phantom ever since the attack on the morgue. Mark was just relieved that the new and improved ecto-guns had finally been issued that morning. If not for the updated technology, that incident likely would have ended far less smoothly.
Not that it really ended smoothly. Phantom had yet again escaped Mark’s clutches, free to run off and break into Sarah’s home.
Guilt clawed at Mark’s stomach, but he pushed it back. Phantom was a slippery ghost, one that had escaped all levels of ghost hunters from the Fentons, to the Ghost Investigation Ward. Mark knew it would take a lot more than a few words of peace and one ecto-gun to stop that kind of raw power.
“What do we even know about the Fentons?” Abrams asked.
“They’re ghost hunters and mostly make weapons now, but before that they dabbled in all sorts of ecto-based technology. The husband, Jack, is the engineer and the wife, Maddie, is the biologist. They have two kids, Jasmine and Daniel. Jasmine, or ‘Jazz’ is supposedly top of her class, likely to graduate valedictorian, while Daniel’s something else. Bad grades, skips class, all around a bit of a loner,” Crowley said, regurgitating information like he was reading a case file.
Mark glanced at his colleague, giving him an impressed smirk. “Did your homework early, eh?”
“I told you, something aint right here,” Crowley said.
“And? What do you think?” Mark asked.
“What I think is that I’m shocked their house is even coded to have a lab inside. I’d like to know whose ass they kissed to give them that permit.”
Abrams snorted. “Jesus, Jacob.”
“What? I’m right!”
“Fine, whatever,” Mark stood, collecting his empty coffee cup and paper plate. “I godda head home, my sister’s visiting this weekend.”
“Alright, tell Susan I said hello. And say hi to her little demon child too.”
Mark rolled his eyes. “She’s four.”
“What, four year olds can’t be demons? I should know, I had two of them.”
Abrams swiped her empty wrapper and tossed it in the trash. “Yeah, I have to feed Atlas. I’ll see you both next week.”
“Take care!”
---
“Well at least we know Phantom didn’t change anything about his facial structure when he became a ghost.” Crowley’s small eyes swiveled between the photo of Phantom in one hand and the new sketch rendition of his human identity.
Mark grunted and stared at his own copy of the photo.
The corpse had been too decomposed to be able to distinguish a face, and ghosts often change their appearance in death. Sure, Phantom looked like a regular human, but it was impossible to know that for a fact.
Fortunately, modern research and re-composition was advanced enough that they didn’t have to wonder for long. Especially with this being such a high-profile case for the city.
And as it turned out, aside from the hair, Phantom really didn’t look all too different when he was alive. He had the same sharp nose, the same angular chin, the same boyish face. The only thing that was different was his hair and presumably his eye color, although that was still a mystery due to the corrupted DNA.
Even though there was little change to Phantom’s appearance, seeing the black haired, brown eyed human boy staring back at Mark was rather shocking, if he were being honest. There was something off putting about seeing this enigma quite literally brought back to life. It took away that edge of lore that the heroic town enigma had.
Now Phantom wasn’t some wild mystery. He was just...a kid.
“This really is something,” Crowley said. “Guess we should put it to good use.”
Mark sighed, turning his attention back to his desktop. Sifting through missing person’s reports was never exactly a fun way to start the morning.
“You think you can handle it, rookie?” Crowley asked.
“Yeah, I got it. I’ll let you know if I find anything interesting.”
Crowley let the photographs drop to his side. “Alright, I’m going to continue doing some digging on our suspects.”
“Good luck.”
“And you.”
The work was tedious and depressing. Face after face of missing minors flickered across his screen. It was almost too hard to believe that Phantom was a part of this list.
Caucasian. Black hair. Eye color unknown. Five foot five.
That was all they had on Phantom. For all they knew, he could have been from another city entirely.
But hopefully Mark would find a hit, at least one kid from Amity who fit the profile.
And in fact, there were a few...sort of. Four teens who had black hair and were about five foot five. But none of them looked quite like Phantom.
Which meant Mark had to widen his search.
How wonderful.
He leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms out wide. It was nearly lunchtime now and he felt like he’d gotten no further than where he was before. Mark stood from his chair, feeling a bit defeated. Hopefully Crowley would’ve had better luck on the suspect list than Mark.
He strolled over to Crowley’s desk, only to find the desk empty. Crowley had likely already left for lunch, the bastard hadn’t even bothered to grab Mark on the way.
Not that Mark could really blame him. He doubted Crowley wanted to use his lunch break to talk about the case after the tedious research they both had spent their mornings doing.
Mark dug his phone out of his pocket, intent on sending the older detective an update, when he stopped. Out of the corner of his eye, a familiar face stared up at him.
Mark slowly lowered the device and crept toward the desk, as if his mere presence would disintegrate the paper on his desk.
Inside Fentonworks: the Fenton family’s home-grown anti-ghost business!
It was an article printed from some online magazine that Mark didn’t recognize. Slapped on the cover of the page, just under the title, was a photo of a family of four beaming, waving at the camera. One of the members was a young boy—about Phantom’s age—with black hair in almost the same haircut as Phantom, with that crooked smile that Phantom had been caught adorning all too many times.
Waving at the camera.
Skinny, short for a boy, son to two ecto-science parents who fill their basement with dangerous high-voltage and easily combustible ecto-technology.
His name was listed as Daniel.
Mark glanced at the two images in his hand, and then looked at the article below him.
Holy shit.
No. There was no way. Crowley had been suspicious of them, and he had good reason to include them on his suspect list, but this kid was alive. He wasn’t missing, he wasn’t dead, he was standing right there.
It just wasn’t possible.
His apple watch pinged, alerting him of a ghost attack nearby.
Mark hurried back to his desk, swiping his coat off his chair.
This was impossible.
The police sketch and the copy of the article pressed against his fist.
Phantom was a ghost. Ghosts will do anything to protect themselves. They would lie, cheat, and manipulate humans in order to stay on top.
Mark was just seeing things.
There was no way that this was him.
He beelined for the door, tucking the papers into his pants pocket.
It wasn’t possible.
The drive there was short, and the fight even shorter. It had just been the Box Ghost, so nothing that Phantom couldn’t handle. The ghost gave his little song and dance, captured the ghost, and waved brightly to the crowd. But Mark could see right through it, right past all the cracks in his façade.
Phantom was losing it.
And Mark could end this.
“Phantom!” Mark called out through his cupped hands.
The ghost flinched, his cheery face replaced with a scowl instantly.
“Another time,” he said.
But Mark didn’t have another time. He needed to know now.
Because Phantom could end this insane proposition. He could laugh heartlessly at the mere mention that he was this random living child. He was Phantom, protector of Amity Park, not some human experiment.
Not some impossibility.
Not some kid who’s been dead for a year and only pretending to be human for his family.
Not the greatest act of manipulation from a ghost that Mark had ever seen.
Mark yanked the papers from his pocket and unfolded them with shaking fingers. He held them up hastily, knowing that they were too far away for normal human eyes.
But this was Phantom. He wasn’t human.
Mark saw the exact moment that Phantom recognized the photos. The ghost’s eyes widened, his face paled, his aura dimmed. Then, in the blink of an eye, the ghost vanished.
Mark was right.
---
The air was thick, tense. Phantom slumped in his armchair, his body the equivalent of a white flag. Even so, his eyes were bright, charged with nervous energy.
He was terrified.
Atlas must have sensed this, because the dog had decided to break away from being Sarah’s shadow to lay against the ghost’s feet.
“I don’t know where to start,” Phantom admitted after a few tense beats of silence.
“The beginning, maybe,” Jacob said.
Phantom looked sick at the suggestion, but relented. “You’re right. Yeah...I…” he glanced up at the two detectives and Sarah seated across the coffee table on her dull green couch. Phantom had appeared in her kitchen not even an hour ago, looking like he’d just seen the personification of death itself.
And instantly, Sarah knew.
She’d tried to coax him to let her bring him to the station so he could come clean there, but he refused. He said the information was too sensitive and he didn’t trust the station to not have cameras recording every angle of every room.
And so they settled on her living room instead. Mark and Jacob arrived, seeming none too surprised by the arrangement, and more than willing to follow Phantom’s direction if it meant they would finally get the truth.
Which Phantom didn’t seem remotely ready to give.
“I guess…” He tried again, closing his eyes. There was another tense moment of silence before a pair of white rings appeared around Phantom’s waist, traveling up his body and leaving behind a skinny black haired teenager.
Phantom cautiously opened his eyes. And, to Sarah’s surprise, they were blue.
“You’re Daniel Fenton,” Mark said.
She heard Jacob suck in a breath.
“Yes. I’m Danny Fenton.” Without the echo, his voice sounded much closer, much more down to earth than Phantom’s. “And a year ago, I was in an accident.”
His voice, like the rest of him, seemed softer without the powerful aura of Phantom behind it. If Sarah had passed him on the street, she wouldn’t have blinked twice. Gone was the cocky personality, the perfect posture, the floating white hair, the bright, determined expression. Gone was the jumpsuit, the logo, the strong voice that seemed like it could project for a mile, the banter, the confidence.
It was just a kid. A kid with baggy jeans, dirty shoes, and a plain shirt. He didn’t seem lithe, he looked weak. The green undertone to his skin was replaced with red, and his shoulders hunched in a way Sarah had never seen on Phantom before.
“What happened?” Mark asked.
“When my parents first completed their interdimensional ghost portal, it didn’t work. I decided to—it was my fault. I just decided to go in it. I don’t know why.” He looked up to the ceiling. “It was a stupid idea. The portal was plugged in, but there was a switch inside that wasn’t turned on, and I tripped over a wire and turned it on. From the inside.”
Sarah felt a pang in her chest. “That’s horrible.”
“Yeah. It was,” Phantom agreed. “And then I guess the portal stabilized the connection between Amity Park and the Ghost Zone, because ghosts started appearing in town. So I decided that if it was my fault that they were here, I was going to protect the town. And that’s what I’ve done.”
That’s his Obsession, Sarah realized. It’s protection.
“Why not come out with it?” Jacob asked. “Why bury your body? Why still try to pass as a human?”
Phantom’s head fell into his hands. “I didn’t know what else to do! It—I...you have to understand, my parents would never understand. They think all ghosts are evil. I couldn’t just come out and tell them what happened, they’d kill me!”
“So you decided it was safer to play human,” Jacob said.
“Yeah. I guess I did. Especially since...I sort of still am?” He lifted his head and stuck out his wrist. “I still have a pulse.”
No one moved.
“You’re shitting me,” Jacob guffawed.
“No, I’m being serious. The portal killed me, but then it brought me back to life. Except by then my body was already altered from the ecto-electricity, so the working theory is that I exist in this sort of limbo state between dead and alive. Hence why…” He transformed into Phantom and then back to Fenton. “Hence why I have two forms.”
“And the body,” Mark said. “The coroner report said it only weighed a little over half the weight of a normal body due to all the ectoplasm. But if you’re half alive, how would you have a body?”
Danny shrugged. “I don’t know? To be honest, that day was such a nightmare that I’ve mostly blocked it out.”
Mark finally reached over and took the boy’s wrist. He pressed two fingers against the skin and waited.
“Damn.” His eyes widened. “It’s actually there.”
“No way,” Jacob said, leaning over to take Phantom’s wrist. A few seconds passed before he was joining Mark’s reaction. “It is there.”
“I know.” Phantom tucked his arm back to his chest. “I don’t understand it. I have a heart and also a ghost core. I can feel it all the time, even as a human. I have human thoughts and feelings and ghostly instincts playing constantly.”
As confusing and morbid as this was, it made sense in a sort of twisted way that Sarah only reserved for the rambling logic of her paranoid, senior grandmother. It explained why Phantom, a ghost, would willingly risk himself day in and day out over the safety of humans. Phantom was a ghost who was driven to protect his home, and he was also a human who wanted to look after those he loved.
He was truly Schrödinger’s cat. Dead and alive inside his little box, his little town, with no one able to measure him.
“That’s the thing that sets you apart from the ghosts,” Sarah said, tapping her knee with her finger. “That day when you came to my house saying that you were different, this is what you were talking about. You also said it would be dangerous if this information got out.”
The question was implied, and Phantom seemed to pick up on it, judging by his grimace.
“You weren’t talking about your parents.”
“No, I wasn’t.”
“So then who is it? Who was trying to destroy the morgue? Who are you hiding from?”
Danny crossed his arms and glared at the floor. “Isn’t it obvious?” he said bitterly. “The government. GiW, all of them. Think of what they’d do if they knew someone could be both dead and alive at the same time.”
“Well fuck the lot of them,” Jacob said.
“Yeah,” Danny agreed.
“And the ghost who was trying to take down the morgue?” Mark pressed.
“I…” Danny’s eyes shifted. “I can’t say. It’s a ghost thing. All the ghosts in the Zone know about me, they call me a halfa. Half alive, half dead. Honestly, I don’t think it took much convincing for them to want to protect me.”
“But you were fighting against them,” Jacob countered. “If they were really trying to protect you, then why not go along with them?”
Danny opened and closed his mouth, the words seemingly stuck in his throat. Words from Maddie’s ecto-biology papers fluttered across Sarah’s eyes, about how ghosts were evil, they were liars, they’d say and do anything to keep themselves safe.
But as Danny let out a defeated sigh, his arms uncrossing to dangle at his side, Sarah couldn’t help but see the face of a scared teen who was just doing his best.
“It’s a ghost thing,” he finally said. “I didn’t like what they were doing because...because I needed to protect my body. If the building collapsed, it would have gotten damaged.”
Sarah blinked, and her and Mark exchanged a glance.
“I see,” Mark said carefully. “So if there was a plan to recover your...body...safely, you would have gone along with it?”
“I don’t know. Ghosts are weird, they all have their own agenda. I’d rather if it were just...left alone. In the ground. Untouched. Like it had been.”
They were silent for a moment, and Sarah watched as Jacob and Mark stared at each other in silent conversation. One that only partners could properly understand.
Finally, Jacob relented. “Okay, here’s the deal. Say I go talk with Chief Davis and he agrees to keep your identity secret. In exchange, all you’d have to do for us is tell your parents.”
For a moment, Sarah thought Phantom was going to bolt out of the armchair.
“Why?”
“Because you’re screwing around putting your life in danger every day, kid,” Jacob said. “Not to mention, your parents’ house is a walking minefield for you. You godda protect yourself.”
“I protect myself just fine.”
“Doesn’t dismiss the fact that you’re running off getting in fights every day with ghosts, and then coming home to a house littered with ecto-weapons that could kill you. You know, all the way.”
“My parents will kill me if they find out though,” Danny said darkly. “You don’t know them.”
“Which is why you won’t be alone. Crowley and I will be there with you. And I know a woman in CPS who can keep this on the down low too. We won’t let anything happen, promise,” Mark said.
Phantom glanced between them, his wide blue eyes betraying just how fearful he was. “You promise?”
“Yeah kid, we got your back.”
---
“It’s going way better than I thought,” Danny said, throwing the stick up the path.
Atlas didn’t hesitate, bounding after the object with an enthusiasm rivaled by no one.
“I’m glad,” Sarah said. “You deserve a safe place to go home to.”
Danny cocked his head. “Yeah. I guess I do.”
Getting to know Danny these past few weeks was surreal. For a year now, Sarah had a set mental image of who Phantom was. The hero, the great protector, the thrill-seeker.
But now, as she got to know the quiet yet snarky kid who went to school and stressed over his math exams just like any other teen would, she’d gotten to appreciate the person that Danny truly was, the person he became when he wasn’t trying to hide his ghostly persona or playing the larger-than-life character.
Atlas pranced back, the stick held high like an Olympic medal.
“Good boy!” Danny praised.
At Sarah’s nonverbal command, Atlas dropped the stick in front of Danny, who was more than happy to pick it up and hurl ahead of the dirt path again.
“It’s weird. It’s almost like...I don’t know, it’s just kind of relieving? To not need to hide? Like don’t get me wrong, my parents are still kinda weird about it. I still don’t really use any of my powers at home because I just don’t think I’m ready. But the other day I used intangibility to get a cup out of the cabinet instead of just opening the cabinet door, and my mom didn’t even say anything. I remember back when I first got my powers and I couldn't figure out how to work them. I spent so long trying to hide any weirdness, and to think that now I can just do stuff and nobody cares.” A blissful smile dressed Danny’s lips. “It’s just nice, is all.”
“I bet,” Sarah said. “Must be a huge weight off your shoulders. And your sister’s okay with it?”
“Oh yeah. My sister actually already knew about it.”
“You’re kidding. Really?”
Danny threw the stick again. “Yeah, but I already knew about that. She told me a few months ago. But she’s been really helpful at home with trying to get everyone on the same page.”
“That’s good.”
“And my dad’s already been begging to take me out to the field with him.”
“Have you taken him up on it?”
“No. Not yet.”
Sarah peered cautiously over to him. “Why not?”
“I dunno.” Danny’s eyes tracked Atlas’ triumphant return from the woods. “It just seems a bit weird still. And besides, it would be kinda odd if my parents went from trying to kill me to suddenly Phantom’s new best friend overnight. For now they’ve agreed to a public truce.”
Ah yes, the truce. That had been all over the news when the Fenton’s announced it, citing new research into ghost psychology that showed instances of benevolent ghosts. The news had rocked the city, some calling the duo crazy, while others praising them for their growth.
Even though Phantom and the Fenton couple were still in the growing pains of their new truce, no one could deny how much more smoothly ghost fights had gotten since it began. There was less property damage, less citizen’s hurt, and overall the process seemed far more professional than it ever had.
“I’ve noticed a change,” Sarah said. “I really think it’s for the best.”
“So do I. Even though it’s still kinda weird.”
“It’ll get easier, just give it time.”
Atlas dropped the stick, apparently distracted by some scent on a bush. He stopped to sniff the plant before wandering behind it, his nose glued to the ground.
“Wait, Atlas—” Danny started, watching as Atlas disappeared into the foliage.
Hearing his name, the dog leapt back onto the trail and over to Danny, who paused to scratch him behind his ear. “Good boy.”
Sarah grinned down at the duo.
Who knew a cadaver dog and a half dead kid could make such a good pair?

Daniel LaRusso's experiences with Terry Silver and how they affect him in Cobra Kai
One thing that is often overlooked in Cobra Kai, because the show fixates so much on the events of the first Karate Kid movie, is how much Daniel LaRusso's behavior is influenced by his time with Terry Silver in The Karate Kid Part III.
Season 1:
Daniel's handling of Kyler: Kyler is actually a lot like Terry Silver. He was going out with Sam, putting on the act of a nice guy to get her to go out with him. In reality, Kyler is a bully towards Miguel and his friends, and is only interested in Sam because he wants to get in her pants. Kyler puts on this nice guy act while having dinner with the LaRussos, and manages to fool both Daniel and Amanda. Then he lies about Johnny attacking him in defense of Miguel, prompting Daniel to confront Johnny. Daniel goes to Johnny, finds out the truth, and immediately does a 180 about Sam going out with Kyler.
Considering their history, Daniel has no reason to believe Johnny instead of Kyler. For all someone in Daniel's shoes ought to know, Johnny could be lying through his teeth (as Amanda points out). But because Daniel's been told that this nice guy might be anything but, he now has to question if Kyler really likes Sam or he has ulterior motives...because again, Silver approached Daniel pretending to have good intentions for him. Amanda at one point in episode 3 tries to assure Daniel that Sam will be fine with Kyler at the Halloween dance because Kyler seemed harmless to her. Daniel says, “Yeah, I’ve known plenty of guys who seemed harmless that were real pieces of crap behind the scenes." He's talking about Silver.
That's why Daniel insists on chaperoning at the Halloween dance: it's to keep an eye on Kyler if he does anything sketchy. Sure enough, he sees Kyler take Sam into an empty classroom and try to get her to take off his belt, and this is when Daniel intervenes and pulls Sam out of there. A good thing, because Kyler was going to date rape Sam (this is made clear in their next scene. Before they beat up Miguel, Brucks tells Kyler that "you had [Sam] in the palm of your dick" and talk about how the bracelet trick worked on another girl at a different school, showing Sam is not the first person Kyler has done this to).
Sam's attitudes towards her boyfriends: A related consequence to this is that after Sam finds out that Kyler is a jackass (between seeing him bully Miguel and his friends in the library, and him trying to date rape her), she is much more guarded and reserved when it comes to meeting new people. This is probably a good thing because it prevents her from getting burned like Daniel did by Terry Silver. This is the reason why she's so hesitant to enter a relationship with Miguel, and is quick to dump Miguel when the Cobra Kai teachings get to Miguel's head and he turns into an asshole, then goes back to him once those asshole tendencies disappear. And while never said out loud, this also contributes to her relationship with Robby falling apart, for while Robby treats her well, he withholds from her the fact Miguel returned Miyagi's Medal of Honor so he can keep Sam for himself (because he knows full well Sam would have second thoughts about being in a relationship with him once she had proof that Miguel wasn't a bully like his fellow Cobra Kai peers).
Johnny's speech to appeal Cobra Kai's ban: Daniel has a very bad reaction when Johnny makes his speech to appeal Cobra Kai's ban from the All-Valley, in which Johnny claims Kreese is dead and his Cobra Kai is different, a place for bullied kids to seek refuge. Thing is, Daniel clearly isn't convinced of any of Johnny's words, because these are almost the exact same words that Silver said to Daniel. Silver approached Daniel claiming that Kreese had died, and at the All-Valley gave a speech proclaiming that his chain of Cobra Kais would be a place for kids to practice the values he [Silver] learned, a speech that Silver wasn't sincere about.
Daniel's reaction to learning Robby is Johnny's son: Daniel's reaction to finding out Robby is Johnny's son is an angry, “You lied to me! Was this all just a con? Some kind of sick mind game you tried to pull off on me?!” It's very telling what Daniel's word choice is, because Terry Silver played a long mind game on Daniel, pretending to be his friend while actively sabotaging him so he'd take a humiliating loss to Mike Barnes in the All-Valley tournament. And when coupled with the fact that Daniel was drunk and had just been attacked by Johnny in his own home after just inviting Johnny in for a friendly fight, his anger is more understandable.
People calling Daniel "Danny Boy": Any time someone calls Daniel "Danny Boy," whether that be Kreese or Tom Cole, Daniel's composure briefly falters, because that's what Silver called him. In fact, Kreese has to know this, since he was there for when Silver revealed his true colors to Daniel.
Season 2:
Daniel's reaction to finding out Kreese has returned: Daniel goes to Johnny intending to inform him about Robby's living situation (in light of Shannon leaving for Cabo)...but immediately decides against it when he sees Johnny with Kreese. Johnny claims to Daniel that Kreese is a changed man...and Daniel warns him not to trust Kreese. Kreese was complicit in everything Silver did to Daniel in 1985 to get revenge for him, so Daniel has every reason to believe Kreese is up to his old tricks again so he can worm his way back into Cobra Kai.
Indeed, Daniel is right: Kreese gains Johnny's trust by claiming to be atoning for what happened in 1984 (by fixing Johnny's second place trophy, and lets Johnny see him as down-on-his-luck so Johnny will take pity on him). It's all a calculated act to undermine Johnny's authority in Cobra Kai and steal the dojo away from him.
Daniel even calls out Johnny for not listening to him when they're arguing in 3x08 while waiting for Robby to get out of juvie. He says, "What did you think would happen when you summoned that devil back to Earth?"
Season 3:
Catching Sam and Miguel together: When Daniel catches Miguel and Sam making out at Miyagi-Do, Sam says to him, "I know it's been a lot. But can you please try to remember that I'm still your daughter, and that you can trust me?" and Daniel replies, "It's not you I don't trust, Sam." Having prior experiences with people who claimed to have changed but didn't (Silver and Kreese) is the reason why learning "Miguel's changed. He's a good person. He's not Cobra Kai's number one bully; he's not even in Cobra Kai anymore!" is a pretty hard pill for Daniel to swallow because any impressions Daniel has had of Miguel up to this point are not very good.
Daniel's impressions of Miguel up to this point are as follows: Johnny had Miguel use Daniel's signature Crane Kick to open the tournament as a way of mocking Daniel, then Miguel fought dirty against Robby. This is combined with whatever Sam said to Daniel about her breakup with Miguel, which probably was that he was an asshole. So seeing Miguel's speech at the town hall to save the All-Valley, and finding him making out with Sam, Daniel is on guard because while Sam has had plenty of positive interactions with Miguel since bumping into him at school, Daniel only has the filter of whatever Sam told him about Miguel to go off of.
Seeing Robby being trained by Kreese: Daniel's reaction to seeing Robby training with Kreese seems very telling. If Daniel is Mr. Miyagi, then Robby is 1985 Daniel, and Kreese is 1985 Silver. Daniel realizes Kreese is going to do with Robby exactly what he and Silver failed to do with Daniel 33 years ago. He'll certainly see the cycle repeating even further when he finds Silver has been summoned back to town by Kreese.
And I would bet he'll possibly realize in season 4 that Johnny's neglect of Robby throughout season 3 left Robby open to manipulation from Kreese, much like Mr. Miyagi's neglect of Daniel in 1985 left him open to manipulation from Silver.

Something to be Thankful For - Chapter 4
Title – Something to be Thankful For Pairings – Jensen/Reader Word Count – 1,146 Warnings – RATED R FOR: Violence in the form of a mass bombing/shooting, injuries both explained and detailed, cursing SPNMixedBingo Square filled – Thanksgiving
Jensen Ackles’ life changes when he walks into his favorite coffee shop and meets Y/N, a Florida girl making a new start in Austin, Texas, as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the help of her sister. The two hit it off and quickly become an item that even the tabloids can’t tear apart. Jensen is excited to show his girl off at Thanksgiving dinner with his family, but she has to work the parade that morning first. What starts out as a normal event filled with balloons, clowns, and cheery faces soon turns deadly as one of the floats explodes and gunfire fills the air. Soon, Y/N is in a fight for her life as she and the rest of the deputies fight back against whoever it is trying to take over Downtown Austin.
Is Jensen doomed to watch the woman who brought love back into his life perish in a tragic mass attack, or will he have Something to be Thankful For after all?
Chapter 4
Holly clutched at her necklace as she watched the television screen. Her heart raced, not knowing where her sister was in that mess. The news was calling it a terrorist attack; something she was certain her sister wouldn’t see as a law enforcement officer.
“Holly…” she heard a familiar voice say. With wide, scared eyes, Holly turned and looked into the terrified face of Jensen, who had Jared in tow.
Holly slowly turned her head to look back at the news, just as the news chopper on screen captured another explosion at the parade happening downtown. Holly gasped as they watched a deputy get thrown by the explosion. At the same time, the chopper flew at a dangerous angle to get out of the way of the flames that were flying upward. The screen flicked back to two stricken-looking anchors on set.
“Holy shit,” Jared breathed.
“I don’t know where Y/N is,” Holly whispered.
“Okay, I’ve about had it with these douchebags,” Danny muttered. Y/N shook her head.
“Whatever you are thinking, don’t do it,” her rough voice ground out. She was leaning back against the car, eyes closed.
“I say we head in that direction. Cause a distraction. Give SWAT a chance to get into that building. Take out the fuck face that is blowing these bombs up. We’ve gotta end this.” Another male voice said with a shake of his head.
“No. Let’s just stay here. We are outgunned. SWAT has armor and we don’t,” Y/N said.
“Yeah, but some of us got military experience,” a third voice said. “We’ve beat these odds before.”
“I have a dislocated shoulder and a concussion,” Y/N said. “Danny, you have what I’m sure is a busted knee based on how you are moving. You, dude I don’t know, that has got to be a gunshot wound in that arm. And SWAT is right there.” Everyone turned to look at where she was pointing, the large armored vehicle speeding down the destroyed street.
“Just give them another minute,” Y/N pleaded.
“Then we can keep ‘em distracted,” Danny said, getting ready to run. The rest of the guys crouched and double-checked their weapons.
“No. C’mon, just wait,” Y/N warned. She grabbed Danny’s arm with her good hand, moving to a squat anyway. She already knew she lost the men to this daredevil idea. “Don’t do this. This is signing your death warrant.”
“You stay here and get the two on the right, Newbie,” he said with a cocky smirk, wiggling his brows. He then darted out into the open, three other deputies on his heels. Gunfire erupted.
Y/N cursed, jumping up and firing with one arm clutched to her chest. She watched as one of the two she was targeting went down and as she aimed at the second, she glanced at Danny. He got three shots off before he took a bullet to the left side of his neck.
The blood spay was large, and she forced herself to look away. She knew he’d be dead before his body hit the ground, and that pain was channeled into her trigger finger as she rapid-fire shot at the assholes who ruined what was supposed to be a cake assignment.
Holly, Jensen, Jared, and the rest of the patrons at The Last Drip watched in horror as the carnage unfolded on the television screen in front of them. Holly didn’t realize that she was crying silent tears until Jared handed her some tissues. Holly took them with a nod of thanks.
“I’m so sorry, I’m just so scared,” Holly muttered quietly. Jared shook his head.
“You have every right to be,” he said, before turning to look at Jensen. Both saw how rigidly he held himself, eyes glued to the screen with hopes of catching just a glimpse of the woman that had taken his heart. “You aren’t the only one, either.”
“What am I supposed to do if she dies? She’s my sister, the only family I have left,” Holly muttered softly, her eyes focused back on the television screen. “I don’t know how to live without her.”
“She’ll make it home,” Jared said. “She has to. She has a very special Christmas to look forward to.”
Y/N leaned back against the vehicle she was hiding behind and did a quick inventory.
Concussion? Check.
Dislocated shoulder, crudely put back in place? Check.
Massive hearing issue and bleeding from one ear? Check.
What is going to be a fantastic pattern of bruising on her back? Check.
Countless scratches and cuts, including a gouge at her hip where she got grazed by a stray bullet? Check, Check, and Check.
There was also that strange burning sensation in her leg that she hadn’t looked at yet. Overall, Y/N was starting to feel the blood loss and the concussion, her adrenaline running dangerously low. She was collapsed behind an overturned car, her head resting against the side panel. However, she heard footsteps fast approaching where she was hiding. She knew if she wanted to see Jensen or Holly again, she had to find some kind of reserve energy to lift her arm and aim her gun at the man heading toward her.
The relief that raced through her veins when it was a Tavis County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team member that turned the corner caused her to lose consciousness completely.
It had been hours since they finally neutralized the men that caused the attack on the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Austin. The news stations continued showing video of the explosions and Holly finally had to turn away before she had her third meltdown of the day.
Both she and Jensen had been calling Y/N for hours and there had been no response. Holly was thinking the worst. Jensen refused to believe it. He promised to give thanks to whatever God was listening if Y/N would just answer her phone… or sent another sign that she was alive.
All eyes turned to the door when it opened, and you could hear gasps when a uniformed deputy walked in. His eyes scanned the area, darting to the screen that showed news coverage. He frowned at it and then looked at the people watching him once again.
Holly and Jensen stood from where they were at and stepped together, clutching each other’s hands. Jared’s wide eyes watched from where he stood next to Jensen. Holly was shaking, on the verge of panic. Wasn’t this what they did when they were letting family members know that their loved ones had died? Is he here to tell her that Y/N was gone?
“Is there a Holly I can speak to?” the deputy asked kindly, his eyes and voice kind. Holly swallowed as all eyes swung to her.

Devil’s Sweet Star (42)
Fandom: Dead by Daylight
Ghostface x Female Reader
Rated M for Violence, Language and Smut
***
Ah... that expression of shock on your face, that lack of reaction... Or at least that frail voice that is yours. Danny couldn't have dreamed of a better reaction from you. We would think we were in a movie, where the girl discovers a terrible secret about her boyfriend. This is actually the case, with one exception: We are not in a movie. Danny watched you, his sneaky smile on his lips, like a cat watching the little mouse in his cage, the lion watching the gazelle, or the wolf devouring the poor little doe that will soon serve as his meal. He was slowly moving towards you, but you backed up against the wall, causing him to stop.
“Surprise, Honey. Happy to see me?” He said with a provocative smile.
“J-Jed? No... I don't believe it. It's a nightmare... or a prank! You can't...” you start to say.
“Can’t what? Being the one who since all this time harasses you every night making you doubt about your loyalty to your boyfriend? I can tell you my sweet little star, that all this is real. But... let's redo the presentations. Jed... never existed. My real name is Danny, Danny Johnson, to serve you.”
“You've been lying to me all this time... But why??”
“Think twice Sherlock. I am... quite wanted in other states. I wasn't going to swing my true identity, to a complete stranger I had just met. And then... there was a good chance... that you have heard of me. But luckily for me... that was not the case.”
“Your office...”
“Want to take a look? since the time you wish to enter it, now that you know the truth, I can show you. Follow me.”
Danny walked past you, while looking behind him to see if you were following him. He unlocked the door of his office and opened it so that you could finally enter it. He saw this expression of surprise on your face again, and this temporary absence of voice made him shudder. Everything went as he had imagined. It remains more than to know how all this would end.
“It's you who... who did all these murders... these innocent people... McKellan and... Hoggins.” You said finally.
“Nice deduction Sherlock. This is me. All those nights when I was inventing an excuse to go out... it was only for that. Spying, stalking... and kill.” Respond Danny leaning against the door.
“And also, to see me as Ghostface. You... you tried... you tried to rape me... and you pretended nothing had happened the next day.”
“And I apologize for that. But I had to... play my role. You would have suspected me too soon otherwise. I had to dissuade you from Jed. Let you accept me as I am. More confident, more... Enterprising then Jed." Replied Danny.
“From the beginning you lied to me. On everything. Your identity, your past, your work... I'm sure this story about this Carla is not real! You invented it or stole it from someone!” you said a little angry.
“Everything I told you about my past... is true. My parents were real assholes. Treating me like a dog. And as for my life with Carla... everything is true. Except one thing: When I learned that Dr. Pheels, the one who cared for her, had let her die, I went to see him one night. I entered through the window. He was in his office. I confronted him with his actions and he... he has denied everything. *You won't be able to prove anything Johnson. No one will believe you, you're wasting your time, Johnson. You'd better leave and find yourself another jug to fill your nights. And if she's sick... think of me. You can touch a small part. * At that time... I took out a knife that I had taken from home... and I slaughtered him like never before. My first murder, the one that made me who I am today. This is where Jed Olsen was born as well.”
“And I would still be there. You won't get rid of me as easily. I've told you before: I'm a part of you now.” said Jed in Danny’s mind.
“That night. You could have killed me. You could have made me yet another victim of your massacres. And yet you left me alive, you played with me, you... persuaded me to kill Hoggins. At least to let you kill him. Why? Why didn't you kill me that night?” you ask calmly.
It's true. He could have killed you that night. It would have made you just another victim and move on after hiding your corpse somewhere. He could have done it so many times... But he didn't. On the contrary, he lets you live, he spends time with you, shares his life and his past as you did with him. By curiosity? that's what he's always said to himself so far... but in the end isn't it for another reason? Isn't it more because he has found, or at least he thinks he has found something he thought was lost forever? And that he wanted to protect at all costs?
“Lying to her won't do much good here Danny. We both know that. Be honest with her. Like she was with you. And be honest with yourself. Believe me.” said Jed in Danny’s mind, leaning in front of him.
“I could have. At first, I confess that I did it out of curiosity, to see how far you could amuse me and I would have killed you as soon as you bore me. But... you were... so innocent. But just as fierce. Like Carla. She was like you, dreams full of heads, with punchlines when it was necessary. And a heart of gold, always ready to help people and do good around her. And the more time I spent with you, the more I felt like I was reliving my life before.” responds Danny sincerely to you.
“Good choice. It's a bit late, but better late than never.” replied Jed smiling.
“Now, that's the question everyone is asking. You know everything. What are you going to do?” Asks Danny to you.
Danny looked you straight in the eye, his smile having sag to make way for a more serious face. He had his knife in hand, ready to use it if you ever try to play the heroes or warn the police. He would like to not do that, but his secret has to come first. Even if it means killing you. He doesn't want to, but he won't have a choice. He no longer has a choice, and neither do you. You could have stopped before, avoided this relationship. It would have been easier for him. But here... it will be the first time for him that he will have to kill someone reluctantly. There is no turning back now. For both of you. This is where everything will play out.
Deep in his mind... Danny knows how it's going to end. There is no chance that you will accept all this. Even if you have shown flaws, he knows that you will denounce him, or try to stop him. If that really happens, so be it. But he can't help but hope. What a stupid spirit of humanity. And yet, what was not his surprise, when he saw you approaching him hugging him. For a few minutes, he waited for you to take out a knife or a weapon of some kind to attack him. But nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just... a normal hug. As if none of this had happened. Nothing had been said.
“Well... I... I didn't expect that. Unless this is a ruse on your part.” said Danny suspicious.
“What good would it be now that I try anything against you? You said it: if you fall, I will fall too. And... you may be an assassin... you've always been there when I needed... you listened to me, you protected me. You could have killed me a long time ago... and you didn't. And all those moments we spent together... I could never forget them. Never.” You respond without letting him go.
“Me neither.”
“I guess you've made it. You have succeeded in making me your accomplice. That's what you wanted. You wanted me to enter your world.”
“It won't be easy... but I would teach you to get ready for this new life. Lie... Keep one's mouth shut... Trick... As long as you are with me, nothing will happen to you.”
Danny gently took your face with his gloved hand before placing a quick kiss on your lips. But before he can back off, you kiss him passionately, hugging him a little more. He is not a doctor, or even a psychologist, but he could easily conclude that he caused you to have Stockholm syndrome. Or at least something close to it. However, he will have to be careful in the early days. He doesn't know if all this is real... or if you cheat. It's in Danny's mentality, he was betrayed too often in his youth, he will not let himself be fooled so easily.
“We're going to have to put ... two three little things to the point. First, outside of these walls, and when someone comes here, I'm Jed. no one should know my true identity. Not even Mattew and Melina.” starts Danny.
“It's horrible... to have to lie to them. They're friends, I'm sure they would understand.” you respond.
“They will especially warn the cops. At least after researching me. Journalistic curiosity, honey, can wreak a lot of havoc. Especially at the level of the closest people. Second, if the police come to ask you about Hoggins, you say you don't know anything. You tell them that the last time you saw him was when he threatened you in your café. Your employees will be able to confirm this.”
“Because I have to use them as an excuse now?” you replied.
“Everyone around you can serve as an alibi. I've done it often... very often during all these years.” responds Danny shrugging his shoulders.
“Anything else to know?”
“Even if you know about my office, I'd appreciate not seeing you inside. Everyone has their own business. Was I clear enough?”
“Yeah.”
“Good. So, how was your day?” Danny asks as if nothing had happened.
“As usual... I had two calls. For the succession, it is settled. And my aunt can't wait to meet you one of these days. But other than that, nothing very extraordinary. I'm exhausted.” you respond sighing.
“I know exactly what you need to... relax.”
Danny slowly lowered his hands until he reached your ass, putting a small slap. You jump slightly before looking at him, biting your lips slightly. A smirk comes to his face, provoking you just with the look. His piercing blue eyes, the secret of his charm. And it is in a fiery kiss that you both direct in the room, undressing each other before finding yourself on the bed, completely naked. The kiss continued, more sensual, and Danny finally entered you, making you moan with pleasure. He waited for you to relax before he began to move, and every move caused the two of you an insatiable pleasure.
No need to hide, no need to live under Jed's identity, no need to be Ghostface to satisfy his fantasies. Now that you know everything, now that you know who he is, he can finally be himself. He will continue to "play" Jed outside his walls because it is not necessary to arouse the suspicions of either office colleagues or the police. And even less of Wilhelm. This guy is a real leech.
Now with you he can finally be himself. You are the sweet little star of the devil. And no one will be able to approach you. In every sense of the word... the beast has been released. And nothing can stop it.
Not even himself.

(And it's done! This chapter was quite quick to write because since it is the continuation of the previous chapter, the ideas came to me quite quickly. Well, it's true that almost the entire chapter is mostly dialogue between Danny and the reader, but really, I didn't see how I could write it other than that. I don't forget the fic RE8 and the little teasing I talked about! By the way, if at the moment you do not know what to play, whether on Switch or PC, I recommend Road 96, a real surprise that I love! I hope you’ll like this chapter like the others ones! Well, it's time for my brain to rest! Have a great weekend to you all! See ya!)

“The New Queen” Negan x F!Reader
GIF CREDIT: https://gph.is/g/4be0J8L
REQUEST: From anonymous: “ Can you do a negan imagine where the reader was his real wife before the walkers came and after he starts getting more wives and kinda forgets the reader, she leaves in the middle of the night. Then maybe a year later negan finds out about another community and tries to take their stuff but he and the saviors get captured and they find out that the reader is the leader?” YUP.
Word Count: 3324
Warning: Swearing
Song I Wrote To: “What The Water Gave Me” by Florence + The Machine
Note: Thank you for the prompt, just a short little stand alone one shot.
-----
This was the fourth night in a row that you slept alone.
Your hand found the empty space next to you, your nails clawing at the cool fabric. Negan was out once again, most likely with one of them. You knew the other wives were all a part of his tactic to keep his control over the Sanctuary. Just as his brazen actions were on the day you and your husband had stormed the factory and taken control in the first place.
You ignored the bloody bodies that littered the floor of the old building as he walked among his new followers. Occasionally he would look back at you with that damn smile of his and regardless of the things he did, it never failed to make you melt.
However, that was when you were considered his equal, his queen, the only woman for him.
Now, you didn’t know where you stood. Half the time you didn’t see Negan. Your husband was always with Simon or Dwight or Arat planning something horrible or looking for more communities to torture. You had overheard Dwight talking to someone about a new place.
Crouched in a dark corner you listened as Dwight recounted what had happened. They had killed all the men, even the boys. Your stomach twisted in on itself. Negan couldn’t have known about that, right? He had rules. Then again, everyone was Negan and his Saviors never did anything without his knowledge. Disgust turned to anger and it was then that you realized that something had to change if you were going to continue to be by Negan’s side.
As night turned to morning, the door to your bedroom finally opened. You stood by the window watching the Sanctuary wake up for the day, your back turned to him. “Long night?” you asked, keeping your eyes on the rising sun. Negan sighed, collapsing into a chair by the bed.
“You know me, doll, always workin’,” he said, leaning back. You turned to him and your stomach recoiled at the sight of his mussed shirt and tousled hair. He wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore. “You’re doing it again,” Negan said.
“Doing what?” you asked, exasperated.
“Looking at me like I killed your childhood pet,” he said, rubbing a hand over his cheeks.
“I’m just tired, Negan,” you said. “Haven’t been sleeping well.”
“You gotta get out more, (Y/N),” he said, “Get some sun on your back again. Can’t have you going all distant on me, can I?” Negan got up and approached you, his fingers going under your chin to lift your face to his. He leaned in kissed your lips, but you felt nothing. When he pulled back you could smell perfume and you instantly recognized it as Frankie’s.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” you said. Negan grinned at you and then turned to strip off his shirt and grab a new one. You watched as he went around your bedroom getting ready for the day. When he went to pick up that damn bat of his, you turned away again.
“Might be another long night, doll,” Negan said, “Don’t wait up!” he called over his shoulder as he sauntered out of the room.
“Don’t worry,” you whispered to yourself, “I won’t.”
-------
That night you didn’t sleep.
You grabbed enough supplies to get you through at least a week out in the world as well as a couple of weapons you knew Negan kept hidden in the room. As you put everything in your backpack, you glanced down at your left hand. The diamond ring sat proudly on your finger just as it had since he had asked you to be his wife before the world turned to shit.
You twisted it off and placed it on the nightstand on his side of the bed. You then took out the knife he had gifted you on your first night at the Sanctuary. You stabbed the blade into the wood next to the ring. You couldn’t do it anymore. It was all too much. The blood, the women, the kneeling… he was no longer Negan. At least not the Negan you fell in love with.
Grabbing your bag, you snuck out of the room. You couldn’t help but laugh at the lack of security outside of your bedroom. You figured he probably had his men watching over the new wives now. The thought only made you move faster through the corridors of the factory.
You, of course, knew all the checkpoints throughout the place as you were the one to help establish them, especially the watch points. You had been a professor before everything had happened and your concentration was the history of warfare in past civilizations. You figured that was one of the only reasons Negan still kept you around.
Sneaking through the dark halls, you finally made it outside. The snipers on the North side were screwing around as usual so when you passed through their sights, no alarm was sounded. The wall of the Dead and their groans pierced through the night. Tossing your jacket over the top of the fence, you got over the barbed wire and hit the ground, the moans around you hiding the sound of your boots. You moved through the decaying bodies, taking out a few as you headed for the road at the edge of the Sanctuary.
Slipping over the final fence, you turned to look at the building that had once been your home but turned into your tomb. You were already imagining Negan’s reaction of finding you gone and your ring and knife on the table. You liked to think that maybe he would look for you or even cry in your absence, but knowing the new man he had become, he would probably just go and comfort himself with one of his new whores. He might even get a new one to replace you.
Taking one last look, you headed North in hopes of finding a new beginning and prayed you’d never see your husband again.
-----
2 YEARS LATER
A knock at the door to your office had you looking up from the weapon you were sharpening.
“Come in,” you called. The door pushed open and your second-in-command, Ari, stood in the threshold. “What is it? You have that look on your face.”
“What look?” she asked.
“The look that says shit is about to hit the fan,” you offered. Ari chuckled.
“Got some news, boss. Looks like some kind of caravan is moving along the Southern border,” Ari told you.
“Hostile?” you asked.
“Possibly. They have some pretty big armored trucks and Danny already took out two scouts.”
“Dead?” Ari nodded.
“They had weapons, wouldn’t say who they were,” Ari said, “He didn’t want to take any chances.”
“No, that’s good,” you said, “I don’t want to take any chances either. Not after what happened with the Rangers.” Ari nodded in agreement. When the group who called themselves the Rangers had attacked the Parthenon, the community you now controlled, you swore that nobody would be coming into your land unless you gave the green light.
“Orders?” Ari asked. You looked down at the blade on the table before you, the matching one was already slung over your shoulder.
“If they come to the gates,” You look at Ari with a small devious smile, “take them.”
The caravan indeed arrived at the gates of the Parthenon not long after their scouts were killed. Ari radioed to you and you met them at the front. Your people passed you, nodding respectfully at the woman they called “Athena”. You didn’t like the nickname, but you never corrected them except when it came to your inner circle. It also gave you the illusion of anonymity when it came to your enemies.
After escaping the Sanctuary, you had walked for days. When the water had run dry and you were close to starving, you had found the Parthenon. You named it that due to the old greek columns that stood at the front of the old plaza. Survivors were already there, fighting to stay alive. They had offered you food and a place to sleep. It was there that you met Ari, Danny, and a few others. They had already begun to fortify the area with fences, but you challenged them to think bigger and so you got to work.
Two years later and the Parthenon was fortified, armed, and a flourishing community that elected you as the leader. Nobody went hungry, nobody was forced to stay or go, and nobody kneeled. The original Parthenon in Greece was the temple of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war strategy. You figured it was a sign, as did Ari, which is where your flamboyant nickname arose.
At this moment, however, it came in handy. Ari stood at the watch post above the steel gates that sat between the largest columns. The roar of the trucks stopped before your front door and Ari, trained her gun down on the caravan. “You have one chance at turning around assholes!” Ari yelled down to the anonymous people at your gates.
“Oh come on! We’re here to make friends, Darlin’!” The world rocked beneath your feet at the voice. It had been two years, but you would never forget his voice. Not his, not ever. You grabbed your walkie immediately.
“Take them now, Ari! Right now!” you yelled. Ari wasted no time in giving the signal. Your people, the warriors you had trained, came out of their hiding spots both inside the walls and outside. Shouts of surprise echoed across the group. Gunshots went off and curses were thrown, but soon, everything settled. Ari looked to you as you approached the front gates.
“More blood will be spilled if you try anything in the presence of Athena,” Danny warned who was on the opposite side of Ari.
“Who the fuck is Athena?” Your teeth gritted as he spoke again, fueling your rage and the sadness that pooled in your chest. You looked to Maxon and Conrad who were the sentries at the gate.
“Open it,” you ordered. They nodded and took a handle each. Ari and Danny dropped down from their posts and flanked either side of you as the gates were pulled open. Before you were around twenty men and women. Each one had two of yours behind them, guns pressed to their heads as they kneeled before you. A man to the left was the first to recognize you.
“Holy hell,” he said and you turned to look at him with a small smile.
“Hello Simon,” you greeted the Savior. Arat was next to him who looked at you in complete shock. You then turned to the man of the hour. Negan kneeled before you as you approached him. He stared at you as if he was seeing a ghost. In front of him lay that damn bat and you could see that it had a lot more bloodstains on it since the last time you had seen the wretched thing.
Stopping in front of him, you leaned down and picked up Lucille. He didn’t say a thing as you held her. You turned the bat over in your hands before swinging it up onto your shoulder and smiling at him for the first time. “(Y/N)?” he gasped.
“Hi, honey.”
-----
It took five of your men to bring Negan into the holding cell.
Once he snapped out of his daze, he became angry again. He struggled against your enforcers as you led them into the jail. It was a small building on the edge of the community that you rarely used anymore. It was usually only used as a Drunk Tank for when Danny went on a run and brought back some whiskey or when you caught him with his moonshine business. The latter wasn’t all that bad as you still had a few jars stashed under your bed.
Your men hauled Negan into the cell and held him down while Danny attached the chains, securing him. Ari approached you as you stood in the corner of the small cage, watching him. “His men and women are being held in the stables, we have their weapons.”
“Check the trucks, take everything,” you ordered. Ari furrowed her brow. You weren’t plunderers, but these were no normal hostiles. “Trust me.” Ari nodded and then ordered everyone out to start raiding the Savior trucks. As soon as the cell door banged behind you, you stepped from the shadows.
You slowly circled Negan like a shark after prey. Lucille was still on your shoulder, the bat named for his first wife, the one he left for you. “I forgot how heavy she was,” you said as you came around to face him again. You swung Lucille around, testing out a few strikes. “You always made it look so easy.”
“(Y/N)...” he began.
“No!” you shouted, slamming Lucille against the bars behind you. “You don’t talk, you listen.” He glared at you, fighting his restraints. “You never stopped, did you? You’re still scaring people into submission and killing them when they defy you. All because you want their shit,” you said, stepping closer to him. “And to think I thought you would change in the years after I left. Tell me, Negan, how are your whores?”
“I thought you were dead,” he said and you stepped back, placing Lucille on the ground, leaning on the end of it.
“No, but I have a feeling I would be if I stayed in that place,” you said. “When did you notice I was gone? The next day? Or was it one of your sheep that discovered my absence?”
“You mean how we slaughtered people so you could play king to a bunch of idiots that feared you? No, Negan, we didn’t do anything. I just followed you like a scared little girl, but I think we both know I couldn’t do that forever.”
“I found the ring in the morning,” he told you. “Why did you leave after everything we went through?”
“So you left because you were scared?” he asked. You laughed, shaking your head.
“No, I left because I was sick of being just another one of your toys. You changed Negan and not for the better. You started this whole...empire and left me in the dust. Did you ever think about what would happen when you started taking other women to bed? Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised, I was the one who you screwed while still married to Lucille.” The mention of his ex-wife made his eyes flare in anger. “We both know that no matter how much I loved you, you were not a good man.”
“So you became Athena,” he sneered. You shrugged and started to pace again, Lucille dragging behind you.
“I didn’t pick the nickname, but yeah, I guess I did. You did tell me I needed to get out more,” you joked. Looking back over at him, there seemed to be something on his mind besides this impromptu reunion. “What’s going on in that head of yours, Negan?” you asked.
“Why would you care?” he asked. You shrugged.
“Call me curious.” he thought about it for a moment before leaning back, the chains on his legs rattling.
“Dwighty boy snuck out with his wife and sister-in-law,” Negan said. You let out a laugh.
“Ah, so the little bird finally left the nest?” You sighed, “I can’t say I’m surprised, he hated you. I’m surprised he didn’t do it sooner.”
“What the hell happened to you?” he asked, his voice rising.
“You did!” You hollered, throwing the bat down and crossing over to him, getting in his face. “You became a monster, Negan! The man I loved, the man I married, the one I promised to always stand by became something out of a nightmare. You left me behind when you took the Sanctuary and you never looked back. I was lucky if I got five minutes with you on a good day and that was only if your wives weren’t in the mood for your bullshit. You wanna know why I left? It’s because you left me first!” You pushed him back, taking a few steps back.
“So this is all my fault? You were too unhappy and instead of coming to me, you take off in the middle of the night and I have to spend my resources and time looking for you!”
“Like you actually cared! You had the rest of them! You had your fucking kingdom and I was sick of waiting for the guillotine to come down on my head because you were bored of me, Negan!”
“Is that was you honestly think of me?” he asked, shocked. “(Y/N), I left Lucille for you! I made sure you survived when the world went to shit! I took the Sanctuary for you!”
“I never asked you to!” you screamed. “I never asked you to become a killer, a looter, a king! I just wanted you, Negan! I thought we would be taking on this world together just as we did with everything else. But I guess you had different plans and apparently I wasn’t a part of them.”
“Goddammit, you are still so fucking clueless!” he yelled.
“Excuse me?”
“You don’t get it, do you?”
“Oh, please enlighten me then,” you challenged.
“I never cared about them, the others,” he said, “Hell, they were always just for show, to keep their families in line. Yeah, I may have given in to a few temptations here and there, but shit woman, I didn’t love them. I didn’t even like them! You are who I love! Did you ever notice that you were never under heavy watch? That nobody followed you or got in your face? That’s because I trusted you, I saw you as an equal, not just my wife.”
“You had a shit way of showing it,” you spat back.
“Please, (Y/N), I love you and I…” he trailed off.
“What?”
“I got rid of them, the other women,” he said, “I let them go after you left.” You crossed your arms.
“Why?”
“Because what was the point? Not like I gave a shit about anyone but you. You were all I had left and then you… Jesus, how do I make it up to you?” You laughed, unable to believe what you were hearing.
“You think all this,” you gestured around you, “is some kind of reconciliation discussion? That we were going to kiss and make up? You really don’t think I haven’t been keeping up with what you and your Saviors have been up to?”
“So what? Are you going to kill me?”
“No, Negan, I’m not going to kill you,” you said softly as you leaned towards him, placing your hands on his thighs. “You’re my guest and will continue to be until I decide otherwise.” Negan looked in your eyes, your breath mingling with his.
“You can’t keep me here. What about my men?” Negan asked. You smiled.
“Well according to them and you, they’re all Negan. They stay too,” you said, grinning wider as he sneered. “Cheer up, Doll,” you said, giving him the old nickname he used to call you, “nobody is going to die. People are a resource, remember?”
“What happened to you?” he asked again quietly. You leaned closer, placing your lips at his ear.
“I stopped taking shit lying down,” you whispered to him. Leaning back, you looked him over again. “You came here to place me and my people under your boot, but it looks like your my bitch now.”
“(Y/N), please,” he rasped out.
“Face it, baby, you lost,” you said with a sweet smile. “Now,” you said, picking up Lucille and placing her back on your shoulder. “Are you going to kneel for your new Queen?”
Note: What? Ya’ll didn’t think she’d go back to him, did you?

Stay True To Yourself!
I read a story about a girl whose boyfriend took her to a swingers party…but neglected to tell her! And of course, that story led me down a very strange rabbit hole until this popped in my head. Ummm, this one has a little bit of a more adult theme - so please read with caution! This is an alternate reality story- obv not canon.
Katie Holt sat in the car feeling a niggling sense of unease that she cannot dismiss as hard as she tries to shove it down. She tries to narrow down the cause, thinking and analyzing as is her nature. Is it because she hasn’t been dating Mark very long and he picked her up roughly an hour ago. In fact, if she was honest, this was probably the longest amount of time she’d actually spent in his actual company. Previously, it was mostly online chats then a couple of in person short lunch coffee dates. But they were maybe twenty minutes. Is it because they are going to a party and she typically does not enjoy parties? Or maybe it’s because he’s the only person she’d know from this party, and she hates being dependent on anyone. She’d much rather rely on herself.
Regardless of the cause, she tries to shake off the feelings and enjoy the moment. Live a little in the real world like Allura said as she was helping her getting ready. Actually, if she was honest, this was the second novel experience of the day since having a friend come over and help her get ready for a date was a first as well. Yesterday, when she absently mentioned that she could not go to the movies tonight because she was going to a Christmas party with Mark, Allura got so excited. She immediately made plans to go shopping and offered to come and help me get ready. She was honestly more excited than I was but it was nice to have someone care.
Which was nice because her mom and dad had a work Christmas party to go to and her brother was on a date himself. It was nice for Allura to come over and help her out. In spite of the make up, dress and dating tips, she had a good time. Allura was only a couple of actual years older than but in experience she was decades ahead of her!
This year, partly due to their project at work, she’s gotten closer to some of co-workers or team. It’s been a nice change since high school and college where she was mostly alone except for her family and their friends. She loved feeling like people got her sarcasm, her references well, just HER. It was nice to have people who made her stop working to eat lunch or heck, even remembered to check to see if she left work for the day. Slowly but surely her team had become her friends.
Which all leads her back to a few moments ago, when Mark parked and got out of the car, stopping at the hood to wait for her. He looks impatient but whatever, she needs to take a minute alone to get her self under control. Her nerves hit a high point but deciding this was as good as it gets, Pidge stands and walks to the him, impulsively reaching out and holding his hand. It was dark and snowy, she definitely did not want to fall on ice as they walked up! How embarrassing!
He seemed surprised by her hand but quickly pulled her close, “Hey so, this is a special party and I’d really appreciate it if you kept an open mind, think of it as an of it as an experiment.”
Pidge felt like a five alarm bell was suddenly going off at the conclusion of that sentence. FUCK! What was he talking about?!? Why would he say something like that now? It was akin to setting a bomb and saying, do not look at the timer.
While Pidge is having an internal panic attack they walk in-no knocking just walk straight in the door. She doesn’t see anything right off the bat that concerns her. There’s a table where keys were thrown, shoes piled in the front hall and music playing. It was a really nice house, set in one of the fancier subdivisions of the area. Pidge was trying to keep calm but she was annoyed that he’d state something like that as they were walking in the door! What about beforehand so she could of decided?!? And he really didn’t tell her anything, which is worse than knowing.
He takes his shoes off, she does the same. Hesitating, he turns and pulls her towards the kitchen. “Drink? What’s your poison?”
Pidge sighs, beer seems safe and not like she’s going to be drinking much of anything after that bomb he dropped walking in. “Beer is fine, I’d like light if they got it.”
He nods and goes towards the coolers lined up along the wall. Pidge does what she does best, fades into the background and observes the room carefully. The lights seem dim and she could see out the patio doors that more people are out there by the pool. She squints, maybe it’s the just the glare…but are those people naked?!?
Mark comes back at that time with a draft beer which means I won’t be taking a drink of it. Why wouldn’t he give me a bottle or can that I could open myself? I’m quiet and watch Mark take in the party. I wonder who he knows? Suddenly, I look at a pretty girl in a Mrs. Claus outfit who comes up to Mark. She smiles brightly, and proceeds to lock lips with Mark, wow. She’s actually impressive with her ability to wrap around him like a snake yet keep her hand with her drink still, not spilling a drop. I’m actually impressed! My eyes dart around the room, trying to gauge what the hell is going on here. Why would he bring me here if he already has girl???
Finally she breaks off and slides over to me, “Hi, Danni with an I, wanna make out?”
I blink, rapidly, “Um, no, I’m good, but, uh, thank you for the offer though.”
She smiles, “Okay! If you change your mind I’ll be around!”
She flounced away and I looked to Mark, quietly questioning, “Exactly what kind of Christmas party is this? Why am I even here?!?”
He chucked, “It’s a swingers party and you can’t come alone. You NEED to bring a date, you know for the numbers. C’mon, this will be fun.”
I look at him feeling myself turn red. “Wait a minute, I bought a fucking new outfit for this?!? I put goddamn makeup on! You fucking asshole! Look, I could give two shits about what you do, honestly, we aren’t involved like that but why involve me? Could you not find someone else to bring? For fuck’s sake!”
Mark stared at me, having the NERVE to arch a brow, “Cursing really? You know swearing is for people not intelligent enough to come up with a better word. Besides, don’t be a prude, look walk around and find someone you find interesting or hot. There are a lot of people here, like it’s not that hard.”
I close my eyes and as bad as I want to hit him, curse him out, I refrain. Oh, he will pay, just later when there aren’t about a hundred witnesses who can fill out a police report. I take a breath and walk away, back to the front door. I look at the keys, but they all look the same, how would I know which is which. I guess I could take them all but what if someone wants to leave. I step out to the front steps.
Honestly, this could not have happened on a worse night. I can’t call Matt, he’s finally on a date with his current dream girl and my parents at that work party. I close my eyes, take a breath to reign in my anxiety that is sky rocketing and first I try Allura. But, duh, she’s at the movies with Romelle and probably turned her phone off. Shit. My eyes fill with tears but I refuse to let them fall. I take a deep breath, trying Hunk instead another coworker. Straight to voicemail. Shit he might be sleeping.
I look at my contacts and realize, I don’t have a long list of people to call. I sit and sigh, okay no matter how embarrassing I could always get an Uber. I schedule one but because I’m so far it will take about an hour. I walk around to the back and sit on a chair in the dark corner of the backyard. Sitting, I let my finger hover over the last name to try. Here goes nothing. Hanging up I text a short message. What the hell do I have to lose at this point.
I sit. And sit. I don’t know how many girls and guys I rebuff but something about a person not wanting to hook up makes people want to hook up with you apparently. Jeesh, in my real life, no one wanted to date me now everyone was trying to have sex with me. WTF?
Sighing I look at my phone, and crap, it looks like all my surfing has killed my battery. Suddenly a very naked Mark and a different Mrs. Claus come up to me.
Mrs. Claus giggles out, “Hey if you’re nervous, you could totally hook up with my husband. He’s the hot elf over there, standing on the edge of the pool and hot tub. It will be fun! Then if we like, we could continue next week!!” She giggles a lot and I try not to be rude.
“Thank you for that kind offer, but I’m good.”
She shrugs, “Sure thing baby, but aren’t you bored. Marky said you were shy and um, a novice. Don’t be afraid.”
Mark turns and Pidge can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. Only for some guy in his boxers to edge into her space. “Darlin’, you-me-, it’s written in the stars baby.”
I groan, “Nope. You misread them, thank tho.”
Usually once I say no, they just move on. But nope, not this one. “Don’t be a prude. Sex is very natural. It’s elemental. It’s like essential. You need me baby!!”
Really, that’s his line? I shake my head no, but now we’ve got a crowd. I hear people interject how I’m falling into societies lanes and I must be a virgin because I’m sitting by myself. Then I hear people say I should be grateful and oh my gosh, yep, I’ve been transported back to high school. Except I’m not a self conscious kid anymore and I don’t give a fuck what they think about me. But, I’ll be damned if I don’t respond. No one pushes me or pressures me to do something I don’t want to. And I’ve never just gone with the crowd cuz it was easier, not then, not now.
I hear a roar and suddenly all attention is lost on me. I decided to leave before my temper actually erupts. I quickly move towards the gate to get the hell out of here. I’d rather walk home then stay here. Fuck Mark and his party. I might actually brainstorm with Allura and Romelle on a way to get back at him. Something embarrassing.
As I walk away I hear Mark yelling my name, “Katie! Katie! Don’t walk away! You need to expand your senses and life. Don’t be scared. There is so much I could teach you. Don’t be such a prude!”
Laughter.
Well fuck him. Now I’m pissed. I’m not scared. I just don’t want to do this. Yet, who does he think he is telling me what I should do. As if. And what if he did this to other girls, who weren’t able to say no? I turn around and calmly but loudly state, while looking straight at him, “Look, don’t act like I’m the scared one. Who didn’t tell me where they were taking me. If this was a scene I was into, fine. And believe me, I will sleep with whoever I want. I just don’t want to sleep with you nor do I have anything to prove to anyone. But if and when I see a guy or girl for that matter, that I’d like to fuck, then I would. So, shut up, cause Marky you’re just not it.”
I could hear murmurs and then Mark yelling, and his feet slapping on the ground. Ughhhhh. One thing I could be thankful for is seeing him naked, cuz ick. He has no muscle definition and oh my God, I cannot wait to tell Allura how he looks like he waxes cuz he has no hair anywhere on his body.
I turn to walk away and see a guy who I have HAD the luxury of day dreaming about striding towards me with an shit eating smirk. Well, shit, of course. My eyes closes but it doesn’t stop my from seeing him behind my eyes. His hair is slightly matted from his helmet which means the roar must have been his Harley. He has one of his many black t-shirts on with his favorite leather jacket over it. His jeans are well worn and faded not those designer ones that only look used. He has on his riding boots, which of course give him another inch or so of height. Which he loves. Opening my eyes I see him about 6 feet away and I see he still has his riding gloves on.
I determinedly walk towards him only to hear Mark scream, his feet slapping, or at least I hope it’s his feet. He yells, “Yeah right, you prude-like you would ever-“
I reach said hot guy and say, “I’m kissing you in two seconds. One, two.”
I fist my hand in his shirt and pull him closer to me. Except he doesn’t move, so I look up into his eyes and arch a brow, he arches his, which causes me to roll my eyes and I open my mouth to tell him to go to hell when grins. With his hands on my hips pulls me into his hard body, throwing me off balance. I slip my arms around him lift my head and his lips slam onto mine. Ok, point proven. Yet, as I lean back to break the kiss, I feel two arms encompass me, hold me close and reposition me.
His mouth re-angles on mine, I feel myself lifted on my tip toes. Omg, the heat of his body is amazing. I didn’t even realize I was cold sitting out here but against his body I felt like was next to a heater. His tongue pushes past my lips and, well, I stopped thinking for a full minute, hell maybe minutes. It was that good of a kiss. Shit. His tongue stroked mine, made me shiver and then he nipped my lip causing a groan. I literally could feel him smile and I was going to move back when his hand fisted in my hair and he started to kiss my neck and holy crap! I think my knees buckled but it didn’t matter because he picked me up and my legs were suddenly wrapped around his waist. His hands were supporting my weight but I think they were actually under my dress. My hands were in his hair and digging into his shoulder respectively. Well. Hell.
I don’t know how long that went on for when suddenly I hear Mark right next to us yelling, “That’s enough.”
Slowly pulling back, his gravelly voice questions, “Outta here or are we continuing the show? Just to be clear, I’m good with either decision.” He then arches that fucking brow.
Face flaming, I whisper, “Let’s go. Please.”
Eyes on me, he nods. “What’s asshole’s name?”
“Mark.”
Nodding he raises his voice, “Hey Mark, fuck off and if I ever see you again, you’re dead.”
A girl in just a string bikini bottom steps in front of us, drawing our attention. Her hand is gliding down her chest when she looks right at him, throatily murmuring, “Wanna upgrade?”
He laughs, “Um already did. Let’s go Pidge.”
He moves his hands and I lower my legs. He instantly laces his fingers with mine and pulls me to the path back to the front. “Keith! You can’t say that! You know about Mark being dead meat.”
“Just did.”
“Why, what, are you even doing here?”
As he places his helmet on my head and carefully tightens the straps, “I saw Shiro’s phone buzz, so I looked. It seemed like something that couldn’t wait. So here I am.”
Blinking I nod, “Okay. I said I had an Uber coming.”
“Saw, don’t care. I, um, didn’t like the idea of you being here when you didn’t want to be. So yeah, deal.”
“But why didn’t you respond?”
“I pinged your location to my phone and left. Didn’t think about it honestly.”
“What if I was gone?”
He shrugged as we approached his bike, which was on the lawn! “As long as you were safe.”
He then takes off his coat, slipping it around my shoulders, “Arms in, it’s cold when we start moving.” Eyes on her legs, fingers play with her skirt, brushing her thighs. “I can’t do anything about your legs though. Let me know if you need a break. We can stop as often as you need.”
I nod, and as we drive into the night, my arms tight around his waist, I can’t help but smile. Keith Fucking Kogane. Damn this boy can kiss. Maybe there is hope for my love life after all. I feel his hand cover my hand on his abdomen, squeeze and drift down to my leg. I squeeze him a little tighter and I know it’s just my imagination but I swear I can hear his laughter.
My hero.

Hi, I've been looking for some fic recs. I was hoping Derek protecting stiles from people at school, or maybe someone with not so innocent plans. Also maybe someone stalking Stiles, and derek or someone in the pack being protective. This is the one type of fic I can never get enough of and I'm desperate. Also, you do God's work on this blog and I'm forever grateful.

Stiles does not work his Omega ass off to attract frat boy Alphas. Absolutely not. He’s at college to get his degree. If he’s crushing on an Alpha who never crosses the lines of propriety, well, no one needs to know, right?

He feels the physical embodiment of devastated, his already too strung-out mind struggling to wall up all the hurt, the rejection—he takes a deep shuddering breath and looks down at the shredded skin on his arms, at the sluggish way they’re weakly healing.
There is nothing, nothing he wants more than to have Derek sweep in and make everything all better. He should have known, though, that something like that would never happen to him.

Derek had blossomed steadily over the past year, growing into his ears and turning even more handsome, if that were possible. But instead of going out and melting the panties off the girls, suddenly he was coming to Stiles all bashed in, demanding that he patch him up like Stiles was some freelance nurse. It was a familiar pattern by now.
AU in which Stiles has been living with the Hales for a few years as their assistant and friend. He needs to deal with Derek, who keeps coming to Stiles with bruises and cuts to be treated, while trying to figure out what the elderly alpha of the Hale pack is up to.

Stiles hasn’t seen his extended family in years- mostly because they’re assholes. His cousins bully him relentlessly, and his aunts and uncles aren’t much better. Dammit, this was another reason he hated walking around a big city at night, he always managed to catch glimpses of the dark underbelly. He turned around, planning on going the long way home, but he froze when he heard the voice-
“Let me take you home,” a man said.
“That will cost you more. I get the money before we leave, and I take another hit at your place before we do anything.” Another man slurred.
That voice. It sounded like- Derek’s feet were moving him towards the men before he could think.

“I am not Bella!” he insisted, shaking his fist angrily at Jackson, as if he’d been the one to suggest he was. “I am not Bella! I am, like, a Jacob, at least!”
Lydia made a noise of debate from his right and he whipped around to look at her.
“What?! What was that sound?!”
“You’re more of a Mike,” she insisted, shrugging neatly and flipping some curls over her shoulder.
“Wha—” Stiles had never been so offended in his life! “I am not! No way! I am a solid Jacob!”

“Who’s Mike?” Scott asked.
“Shut up, Scott!” Stiles insisted, pointing a finger at him but still glaring at Lydia.

Teen Wolf Season 1 from Derek’s POV
So I actually think Derek’s character is very consistently written, and that seasons 1 and 2 are examples of excellent writing (I know, shocker of an unpopular opinion around here 😂). I've been thinking about Derek's portrayal, and what the story looks like from his perspective, and it's like a different show altogether, so I thought I'd share.
Let’s take a moment to think about The Story So Far, from Derek’s POV:
• Derek was an arrogant jock brought up in a loving but very large family (ie used to a certain level of independence, and who would need to really act up for any adult other than Uncle Peter to pay attention and get involved).
• Not going to go into the Paige thing at this point, in case anyone reading this has only seen season 1.
• Falls for Kate, who takes advantage of him and eventually burns down his house, with all of his family in it except one of his sisters. Comes back from school to find his home burnt down, his family dead, and puts two and two together in his mind. What would young Derek have learned from that? A few things: don’t trust people, ever. It makes you too vulnerable. Don’t let people in, it puts you and yours in literal danger. It’s All His Fault and he basically killed his family. And - Seduction is power.
• Moves to New York and tries to get over this trauma. Probably doesn’t get very far, since the number one lesson he learned in his life is Don’t Let People In. He becomes a very angry person.
• Eventually Laura tells him she’s off to Beacon Hills to investigate. This is probably not something that came out of the blue, rather she was probably investigating the cause of the fire as a way of coping with her grief. Not only does Derek not have that, he had to spend 6 years watching her do that, knowing that he was responsible for their deaths (in his mind), and not being able to say anything. Either she wouldn’t figure it out, and he would feel guilty forever, or she would, and she would hate him forever. He lived with this eating him up for 6 years. Then off to Beacon Hills she goes, saying she’s close to figuring something out, but not telling Derek why.
• Then she goes radio silent. Derek has no reason to equate this radio silence with anything other than “she found out it was me, and now she hates me.” But Laura is literally all he has. So he goes to Beacon Hill the next morning, to try and explain. Instead, he finds half of her dead body in the woods. That’s the dead body of the last person who ever cared about him. (Not counting Peter - because while Derek cares for Peter, who was arguably his closest family member before the fire, he doesn’t expect him to ever recover). Laura is dead, and it’s probably hunters, and the only way to not let guilt and grief take over is to focus on his anger. He takes Laura back to the burnt out husk of his family home, and buries her under the family symbol for revenge.
• Literally within a few hours of him finding Laura’s body, two people come sniffing around the exact scene of the crime. He goes to check it out - it’s clear they’ve been here before (he found the inhaler) but it’s also clear they’re not hunters. They’re useless teenagers. One of them smells like a wolf. He tells them to fuck off.
• These two kids might not have been hunters, but there’s something weird going on with them. So he stalks them to try and find out what’s going on.
• Turns out this Scott kid was newly bitten. There’s something else going on here - an alpha who isn’t Laura. He’s apparently turning people, making new wolves. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? He’s not sure.
• But things are getting more complicated - the Argents are back. Not Kate, no, thank god, but her brother and his kid. And Scott is making all of the same mistakes he used to make - he needs to stop this before it all blows up in his face.
• Before he gets a chance to get his mind around any of this, let alone mourn the loss of his sister whose body he just discovered a couple of days ago, shit hits the fan and those asshole teenagers GET HIM ARRESTED FOR LAURA’S MURDER. That’s what he gets for not being distrustful enough of people. These idiots are going around like they know everything, when it’s clear they know NOTHING. He tells them exactly that.
• There’s not enough evidence, and so after this utterly humiliating experience, they let him go. Despite this, nobody doubts for a second that Derek is guilty.
• The one saving grace in this situation is that the Argents don’t know he’s here. But Scott is still making all the same mistakes Derek made in the past. And so Derek, who hasn’t had a single friend in literal YEARS, is poorly socialised, and has only ever had the great example of Peter as a mentor, actually tries to take Scott under his wing. He really, really *tries*. He just sucks at it.
• Scratch that, the Argents know he’s here, and they know who he is. He was just minding his own business at the service station when Argent tried to intimidate him and smashed up his car.
• This rogue alpha situation is becoming a problem, so Derek begins to go out at night and look for him.
• One such night he’s out tracking the alpha, there’s a commotion. The alpha attacks a car. As Derek moves to get closer, he gets shot in the leg. Uh oh. Hopefully it’ll heal. He slinks back to the preserve and his burnt out husk of a house.
• Well, shit. It was a Wolfsbane bullet. It’s not healing. That is NOT good. He needs help, or he’s going to die.
• Derek has not asked for help in a very long time. Not as a teenager, when it would’ve made him look weak, and not since the fire, because he literally doesn’t trust anyone enough to help. But this time he’s completely alone. And if he doesn’t get help, he’s going to die. SCOTT. Scott can help. He’s been helping Scott, so Scott owes him. He’s an idiot, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Scott needs his help, so Scott needs him alive, so Scott will help.
• Scott doesn’t care. Derek makes him to the school, barely conscious, and asks Scott’s peer - Jackson - where he is. That asshole won’t even tell him. He tries to carry on but pretty much passes out in the corridor. He’s literally on the brink of death in a building full of people, and is actively asking for help, and NOBODY CARES. NOBODY even STOPS.
• Eventually he makes it out, finds Scott and his friend, and they tell him to fuck off. Seriously?! He passes out again. Scott is like “Stiles, you deal with him, I don’t have time for this shit.” And leaves. They keep joking about letting him die.
• For all the nasty comments, that kid driving the jeep is the only one who actually hasn’t left him to die. Scratch that, he wants to dump him at his house and ditch him. His house with no locks where everyone who wants him dead knows to find him. Derek starts to panic.
• Derek has hours left to live and nobody is helping. Even though he has made it simple for them and told them exactly how to help. Scott, the one person he thought might care, is literally taking his time having dinner with his abusers’ daughter instead of doing the one thing that can save his life. Fuck it, he’s just going to cut off his own arm.
• Scott makes it back with the bullet in the nick of time. Fuck people.
• To add insult to injury, Derek has a run in with Chris at the service station and he smashes up his car.
• Derek is back at home, minding his own business, when the literal worst thing that could possibly happen happens. KATE ARGENT shows up in his home. The last time she was here, she was burning his family alive. She shows up with guns, incapacitates him, taunts him about his dead sister, his dead family, tries to pump him for information, and when none is forthcoming and it becomes clear he’s “outlived his usefulness” - she tries to kill him.
• Derek runs. The house isn’t safe anymore.
• Derek still tries. He tries to make an ally out of Scott. He’s the only non-psychopathic werewolf left in Beacon Hills. Derek has no pack, no one. They’re stronger and safer together. If only he would stop being such an idiot.
• His search for the alpha points to Deaton. The guy clearly knows things. Things about him. He is not forthcoming with information. Derek has no time for this shit. He roughs him up a bit. Unfortunately, Scott picks that night to come up with the stupidest plan EVER and apparently decides to broadcast his existence to all of Beacon Hills. Aaand then he gets mauled by the alpha.
• To add insult to injury, when he comes to Derek finds out that Scott has thrown him under the bus by telling the fucking sheriff that he, Derek Hale, trapped a bunch of kids at the school, kept them hostage, and killed a man. Great. Now all of beacon hills wants him dead. Back to being on the run. It’s not like his home is a safe place to stay anyway.
• He needs help, but the last time he asked for help that didn’t go so well. Scott didn’t give a shit. A building full of people left him for dead in the corridors and no one stopped. He passed out on the road and the only reaction people showed was annoyance at stopping the traffic. Actually, you know who did help? That Stiles kid. He’s probably Derek’s best bet if he needs a safe place to crash.
• Stiles has a lead - he can hear them talking about it. That other guy doesn’t want to help. Apparently Stiles is the king of brilliant ideas, and an improvised strip tease is exactly what it takes for that Danny guy to help them. (Again, what did Derek learn? Seduction is power.)
• Things are not looking good. Their one lead seems to point to... Scott’s mother? They need to think about this.
• If the hunters didn’t kill Laura... then the alpha did. An alpha more powerful than Laura? Derek doesn’t want to let the hope bloom in his chest, but maybe another one from his family got out? Survived the fire? But then why aren’t they coming for him? Why Scott?
• They need to talk to Peter. Surprisingly, Stiles appears to have a decent sense of priorities and skips his Lacrosse game to help with this.
• Bad news. Peter is the alpha. Uncle Peter. Uncle Peter has recovered?! What?! And now he’s killing people?! He killed Laura?! He attacked him?! Act now, think later. That Stiles kid is in danger, he needs to get him out of harm’s way first.
• After a fight, Derek and Peter have a heart to heart. This is huge. Derek isn’t alone in the world after all. He *does* have family. He wasn’t in control before. He was angry. Derek can understand that. Maybe things can be okay after all... they need to talk to Scott.
• They go to the school, and Peter does something Derek didn’t know was possible. He sticks his claws in Scott’s neck as a way of sharing memories. Well, shit. This reminds Derek of something, but he can’t quite figure out what.
• He feels a bit more powerful now. A bit safer, knowing he’s got someone else on his side. He can go back to the Hale house.
• Scott is at Derek’s house when the hunters attack. This is bad. They’re probably going to take him - he barely got away last time. But he can’t let them get to Scott. He has to protect Scott. So he buys him time. As a last-minute decision, he takes Scott’s phone. Hopefully someone can figure it out. Use it to track him. That Stiles kid is pretty smart. Maybe he can figure it out.
• Derek is held prisoner and tortured by Kate. On his own property. I don’t think I need to go over this - what you see is what you get. Kate shows him off to Allison like he’s some circus animal, and Allison barely reacts with anything but fear. She voices all the guilt and self-loathing and resentment he’s kept to himself for 6 years. He gets physically and emotionally tortured. For days. In his own basement.
• Derek only got caught because he was buying Scott some time to get away. When he hears Scott’s howl he thinks maybe he might have a chance of getting away after all. Except then Scott shows up and refuses to help him out. Derek is seriously freaking out. Kate could be back at any point. They can talk about this later, but he needs to leave NOW.
• Eventually Derek breaks himself out, fuelled by the mix of relief and panic that came with Scott’s appearance. Wait, Scott might actually be saying something important. Now that he’s free he can pay attention. Shit, Scott might be right. Peter didn’t lose control and kill Laura in a moment of confusion. He lured her here. It was premeditated murder. Peter MURDERED his sister.
• Barely does he make it back to the house before Allison and Kate show up to kill him and Scott. Scott won’t listen to him, won’t listen to any of his advice. Kate shoots him. Everyone there leaves him for dead. And this is the sad thing - if Derek did die, right here right now, no one would mourn him. No one would miss him. No one. At all. He’s completely alone.
• By the time he comes to, Stiles and Jackson are on the scene and Peter is being burned alive. Again. It’s a horrible sight, but this time the thought of Peter murdering his only family left alive is worse. Derek wants revenge. Scott asks him to let him do it. But fuck Scott. He’s spent weeks trying to help him, WEEKS, and for what? To die alone in a ditch, with all of Beacon Hills wanting him dead. He wants revenge, yes. But what he needs right now, also, more than anything, is a pack. He needs to not be alone. And so he needs to be the alpha. He kills Peter.
I find it interesting when people say that Derek is intended to be the villain or the antagonist in this season, because to me that really isn't the case. He's more of a red herring than anything. Scott may see him as a threat, but if you actually look at things from his perspective, he actually goes OUT OF HIS WAY to help Scott and Stiles, over and over again, and gets nothing but shit for it.

Bloodbound Chapter 25- Too soon, too late
The clan members and the clan-less prepared for the battle. Both the teams were fully equipped with weapons. Hope started her bike and set out to the harbour. The clan-less followed her in Scott’s van. Natasha got behind the wheel and Steve sat in passenger seat. The Maximoffs looking scared and shaken were sitting in the back seat along with Tony. They held each other’s hand and consoled each other. They drove off to Jiaying’s residence. Natasha looped through New York instead of taking the shortest route.
Steve peered out into the dark night and confirmed the doubt he had. He saw shadows lurking in the corners as they were being trailed. Natasha tried to shake them off their tail but she wasn’t fortunate. As a vampire jumped on top of their car, the Maximoffs let out a scream. Natasha served the car trying to ditch him but he held on. Natasha hit the brake suddenly and sent the man flying forward. She stepped on the brake and revved the car to full speed. She let the brake and dashed forward. She ran over the vampire and flew past without slowing down. Natasha drove to the outskirts of the city.
“Do you all have properties outside the city?” asked Pietro. “Is it some kind of vampire thing?”
“Most of us who don’t want to attract attention have. Some divas like having large buildings in the centre of the city with their name written on it” chuckled Natasha earning a sideways glance from Steve. Tony shrugged
They were almost near Jiaying’s house but their path was blocked by a large truck. On the top of the truck, Stane and Toomes were standing. Natasha hit the brakes. Rumlow gave a sly smile as he loosened the latch and joined the others on the top. Natasha, Steve and Pietro heard slight growling sound from inside. The back door of the truck flew open followed by the ferals flowing out in mass heard.
“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck” shouted Wanda. “Turn around” she added.
Natasha turned her car and drove it down the muddy path which cut off from the main road. The uneven road was making them slower and the ferals were gaining on them.
“Drive faster. Drive faster”
“Shut up. Shut up. SHUT UP.”
“Where the hell are you going? The city is certainly not this side” Wanda asked.
“We can’t lead the ferals back to the city. It will be a disaster.”
“Then where are we going?”
“To my safe house.”
The bushes become so thick for the car to pass through. Natasha hit the brake and got out. She shouted for them to follow her as she ran along the trail. The twins ran behind her followed by Tony and Steve. They reached her house before the ferals caught up with them. They ran inside and closed the door.
“The house can’t hold them off for long. We need to fight them.” Natasha said as she took out guns from her backpack and passed it on to Tony and the twins. She and Steve equipped themselves with a gun and stakes. Steve called Howard and asked for back up. Natasha grabbed a small remote control from the table draw. She pressed the button without further delay. An electrical buzz filled the room; even though it was low it would be audible even to human ears.
“What is that noise?” asked Pietro peeking out of the curtained window. The sound was emitted from the electric fence circled the house. The hordes of ferals trying to get past were burnt by the electricity. The burning smell of rotten skin flooded Pietro’s nose as he tried block it with his sleeve of his shirt.
The fence did slow down the ferals but they found a way to reach the house. The remaining ferals climbed on the burnt corpses of others and ran towards the house. They started banging on the walls, trying to break through.
“Ready” Natasha asked looking at Steve. He gave a nod. The five stood in the circle as the ferals were tearing the house from every side.
One feral tore down the kitchen window and the rest followed it. They piled into the house through that gap. The twins shot at the ferals. Pietro training came in handy as he delivered each bullet precisely to its head. Wanda struggled but was able to keep up. Steve and Natasha slashed through the ferals and took down as many as they can. One feral escaped their notice and ran towards Wanda who was facing the other side. Natasha noticed it and caught the feral by its neck and slammed it into the coffee table. She took the broken glass and cut off its head.
Natasha and Steve moved with speed and agility. The ferals were no match for them. Soon the ferals numbered reduced and the tables turned. Steve ripped the head of the last standing feral. He looked up at Natasha and smiled.
“It’s been long since we fought together” he smiled as he wiped the sweat form his eyebrows. She gave a small laugh.
The five heard the sound of the truck and walked out. Rumlow was driving the truck directly into the house. The four jumped to the side and were able to barely escape being crushed by the giant vehicle.
“Can we kill these bastards and get this over with?” Natasha said through gritted teeth.
“We sent a nice gift for you Steve” Rumlow laughed. “Did you receive it?”
Steve growled and said nothing. The three men jumped out of the truck and made their way towards them.
“You both. Stay back” Steve barked. “Tony, guard the kids” he added looking at the billionaire.
Wanda and Pietro backed away. They held hands and looked at each other. “We will get through this” Pietro whispered.
Steve and Natasha squared off against the three men. Toomes took two knifes from his belt and threw at Natasha. She dodged the first one but she wasn’t so lucky with the second. It grazed her stomach drawing some blood from her. Natasha took out her dagger and ran towards Toomes. She came close to him but didn’t strike. She leaped over him and landed behind his back. Before he could turn around to face her, she drove both knifes into his shoulder blades. He screamed in pain.
Stane and Rumlow attacked Steve at the same time. Stane kicked Steve in the stomach. He doubled over in when Rumlow grabbed him by his collar and punched his face. Steve blocked him and returned a punch. Steve caught Rumlow’s neck and crushed his windpipe. He threw him to the ground. Stane came from Steve’s side and delivered a kick to his torso. Steve blocked the kick and caught his leg. He twisted it making Stane lose balance and fall down. He stomped on his knee and broke it.
He heard Pietro shout his name. He turned to the kid standing close to him. At first Steve didn’t know what had happened but then he noticed the stake protruding from his back.
“Old man, you didn’t see that coming” Pietro said
Steve caught the kid by his shoulder. But before Steve could react, Rumlow drove the stake even further. As the wood ripped through Pietro’s heart he turned to dust in Steve’s hands.
Bucky along with the clan-less rushed into the clearing to witness the death of the young man in the hands of Steve. Howard and Coulson weren’t much behind. The forest trembled with the gut-wrenching scream of the dead man’s sister. Her concealed power, out of her control emanated from her body. Every vampire’s mind in the clearing linked as one. The hive mind prevented them from acting as they stood planted to their spots. Wanda’s whole life flashed in front of her eyes.
“Pietro, don’t cry” cooed the small girl looking at her elder twin.
“He called me an idiot” replied the six-year-old boy through his sobs.
Wanda hugged her brother trying to console him.
*****
“You can’t lock him in the storage closet”
“I can and I already did” smiled the girl proudly.
“That was ten years ago” Pietro tried to argue.
“Yeah and I got my revenge. He is afraid of closed spaces and spiders. I needed time to get to know that asshole” she stated a matter of fact.
Pietro shook his head in defeat, not able to argue with his twin.
*****
“Come on, Wanda you got to help. The prom is near” Pietro pleaded staring at her with puppy eyes.
“Since you ask nicely, I might”
“Tomorrow, in English class you’re sitting near Danny. When the class ends, I will casually come over to talk with you. Then I will ask them out”
*****
Slightly older Pietro was sitting in his bed, staring at the wall when Wanda entered.
“Hey, sis”
“Hey, I heard you’re going to accept the offer letter” she stated without beating around the bush.
“Yeah, I don’t think it well suited for me”
“Bullshit” she snapped. “You just don’t want to go ‘cause I didn’t get through”
“No shit Sherlock. That was the plan, wasn’t it? Both of us going to America together.”
“I am not going to allow you to throw away your opportunity like this”
“I have made up my mind. I am not going alone”
“Okay, what if I get an offer from another place and leave your sorry ass here”
“You wouldn’t” he said confidently.
“Keep wishing” she smiled as he played punched her on the arm.
*****
The twins squealed in delight holding Wanda’s acceptance letter into the University. Their parents looked at their celebrating children with pride. Their dad pulled the whole family into a group hug.
*****
“We can’t live here, Pietro” stated Wanda looking around their childhood home.
“Yeah, reminds me too much of them” he said, voice slightly breaking.
Wanda stood in the living room, looking at the photos hanging on the walls. Pietro slightly placed his hands on her shoulder making her turn towards him. He engulfed her in a hug as they both broke down crying.
*****
Pietro made his way to the kitchen where his sister was fixing herself a mid-night snack.
“I got a good no no great news. Guess what?”
“You are hired?” she said excitedly.
“Hell yeah” he shouted.
*****
Wanda walked into their shared apartment to see Pietro chatting with another man in the dining table.
“Hey” he called out seeing his sister. “Wand, meet Thompson” he said introducing her to his new acquaintance.
*****
Wanda wrote a note ‘Don’t skip breakfast. Love, Wanda’ as she left the cooked food inside the hot pack and left a note on the table on her way to work.
*****
The twins stood in the safe house of Natasha holding each other’s hands as they heard the feral being burnt by the electric fence.
“The fence won’t hold for long” noted Tony looking out of the window.
The twins exchanged a grim look preparing for the looming threat. Pietro kissed the top of her head as he whispered, “We will get through this.” She nodded silently.
In present time, Wanda’s legs gave away as she crumbled to her knees. She pulled her hair in such force that they could come off. The heart that was beating since her own had stopped. It felt like a piece of her own heart had died. There was a large ache in her. She wanted to destroy everything. But she couldn’t move. He knees seemed planted to the ground. For the first time in her life she felt alone. She wanted to end herself. She had a yearning to join her brother. It felt unusual to breath. She felt guilty of surviving. It was overwhelming.
Everyone except Coulson stood dazed not understanding what happened there. They had seen every aspect of the twin’s life. No one moved unable to comprehend the situation. Rumlow and his men were the first to snap out of it. They tried to escape the place before the others recovered. But they weren’t so lucky as Coulson shot down Toomes and Stane. The bullet sound zapped everyone out of their trance.
Steve shouted like a mad man as he advanced towards Rumlow who was retreating. He threw punch after punch beating Rumlow’s face to a pulp. Bucky saw Steve going mad and beating up Rumlow. He had never seen Steve this angry before. Lincoln secured Toomes and Stane with Howard’s cuffs. while Howard ran towards Wanda to check on her.
Bucky shouted at Steve to stop beating Rumlow but his words fell on deaf ears.
“STEVE” Bucky shouted again. Steve stopped beating Rumlow and turned to look at Bucky. “He is almost dead Steve. Stop it” Bucky with a lower tone but his voice was firm.
Steve looked at the disformed face of Rumlow and back at him. He repeated, “Stop it.”
Steve slowly raised and got away from Rumlow while Bucky tied him. He saw Wanda kneeling in the distance and Howard was consoling her. He walked to her and slowly kneeled down in-front of her. Wanda looked up to see it was Steve. She hugged him and cried into his chest. He held her close as his blood-stained hand caressed her head. He rested his head on her shoulder and the tears streamed down from his own eyes.

MONTY
Monty was fuming after the fight with Schuyler. The redhead had managed to press all his buttons and wound him up so tightly he'd exploded, in public, spilling his emotions where everyone could see. Nothing had been able to numb the fear and pain coursing through him. He'd smoked half a packet of cigarettes, a bottle of Jack, and three joints, and yet he was still feeling the pain but now with a sore head. He was already out of E from the fights with Nikko and he couldn't get hold of his usual supplier. Monty needed a distraction, he needed a good fuck. He also needed someone he could be honest with, or at least someone he could be around without having to go through the exhaustion of putting up his walls with. Nikko and Sam were still in Tn, Danny was in Colorado... that only left Vitya. The younger man had about as many issues as Monty himself and was in no place to judge, he was also a great lay. Monty picked up his phone with a tremor in his hand and hit call. "Yo, Vit, ya busy or got time for a fuck?" He tried to sound seductive but the emotion was heavy in his voice.
VITYA
Vitya had been home a day or two, enjoying his privacy and quiet. Most of his time was spent relaxing, catching up on easy chores, like laundry. He was not a domestic person, but also did not feel well enough to go to a bar or club. The hospital had drained him. Still, when his phone began to ring, and he saw who was calling, curiosity getting the better of him. He answered, and a smile cracked onto his face. "Careful, you come around any more often, I may just need to give you your own key," he joked, holding the phone to his ear by shoulder to fold a shirt in his hand. "So, what brings you my way this time around? You fucked me, like yesterday. A great home-warming present, by the way."
MONTY
Monty couldn't help the small grin that Vitya's sarcastic greeting put on his face. It was easy being around him, things weren't complicated or messy, they were just themselves and that idea alone had Monty relaxing a little. "Don't be makin' ya'self too available, ya poor ass is gonna be so sore ya wont be able ta sit for a week." He chuckled, grabbing his phone, wallet and keys. Vitya hadn't told him to fuck off, in fact it basically sounded like an invitation to him so Monty headed out in the direction of Vitya's place. "For an invalid ya took my dick like a champ, gotta see if it's a fluke or if all them needles they've been stickin' in ya really worked." Mont lied easily, covering up his own need and the small flicker of concern for his friend? fuck buddy? After finding out just how much time he'd spent in the hospital.
VITYA
"Isn't that the whole point?" Vitya said back, starting to move all the clothes to his bedroom. Vitya could hear something off in Monty's voice. Something visceral was there. The words were Monty's normal, sarcastic self, but the tone felt too open. "Practice makes perfect- Also being a pillow princess is, like, easy. And we have done it enough times, you know it ain't a fluke." Vitya sat on his bed, leaning back on his hand. "Oh, when you get here, keep your clothes on. I'll handle that," Vitya said in his low, wispy tone, hoping that would convince the man on the other side that Vitya couldn't hear his different tone.
MONTY
"Mm ya wanna feel it the next day, I got ya, figured ya might wanna go easy on ya crippled ass but fine we can go hard, I know exactly how ya like it." Monty didn't even try to keep his voice down as he walked across campus, all he concentrated on was keeping his tone even and teasing. "As much fun as I have poundin' ya ass we gotta get ya back ta full strength so ya can ride me hard." He taunted, more of his mind slipping from his pain and concentrating on what was in store for him as it seemed he had Vitya fooled that everything was normal. "Pillow princess puttin' in some work today, sounds good ta me, want that mouth." Monty groaned quietly as he reached the door to Vitya's apartment.
VITYA
Vitya could hear the desperation growing in Monty's voice over the phone. On one hand, it was such a turn-on. Vitya loved this, being able to wind someone up, have them wrapped around his finger. But between talking to Anthony, and his latest stint with death, whatever empathy that was still buried in him was rearing it's pretty little head. "What, and have you sit and wait like a good little boy? You're too impatient for that." he teased again, keeping the conversation going. He heard Monty from the other side of the door as well as through the phone, Vitya walking over, opening it, and tugging Monty inside by the shirt collar. With a bite of his lip, he tossed the phone to the side and shoved Monty onto the couch. He took his hair, yanked it back, and with a look of complete seriousness on his face, Vitya stared Monty dead in the eye. "What happened?"
MONTY
"Come on now, ya know I can still fuck ya hard even when ya ride me, I ain't waitin', an' I definitely ain't a good boy, ya know that ya filthy boy." Monty taunted, keeping focused on the conversation and begining to feel very hot and flustered, Vitya knew exactly how to get him going and his cock responded to the words quickly as blood began to rush to his groin. "Impatient hm?" Monty grinned at the surprising strength in the lanky young man as he was caught off guard before he even had a chance to knock. A pained groan escaped Monty's lips as he was manhandled. "What the fuck do ya mean what happened, I should be the one askin' you. What the fuck are ya doin'?" He seethed, brow furrowing in confusion and fists clenching ready to attack.
VITYA
"I mean, why are you calling me, on the edge of a meltdown?" Vitya said back, releasing Monty's hair and standing up straight, crossing his arms. "I am going to fuck you, you're here so it's happening, but you are going to tell me why I could hear you holding back baby-tears. Like it or not, Monty, you aren't getting this-" he said, motioning to his body. "Until you tell me what happened. It was the redhead, wasn't it?"
MONTY
"Fuck you, asshole." Monty yelled. He hated this, hated when people could see through his defences, hated showing any signs of vunerabilty, any clue that he was human and could be hurt. "What if I don't fucking want ya, huh, ever think of that?" He growled, standing up and begining to pace the room. He could leave, he could run back to his hiding place in his own room, Vitya wasn't stopping him, but some how he couldn't bring his feet to move more than a few steps in each direction. "It's always the fuckin' redhead." He ground out.
VITYA
Vitya laughed under his breath. "That's a damn lie, you're still tenting," Vitya said, clearly as a joke and not an actual dig at Monty. He left the man pace, seeing the seething anger. He wasn't leaving, proving Vitya's idea right; this was going to be an angry, vicious fuck. He was fine with that, normally, but he was not exactly normal enough to take that. That, and Monty was somehow becoming... significant to Vitya. He wasn't sure why, but it was something. "Mind telling me what the history is? All I ever see is you, being a dick to him, him telling you off, and then his ball and chain holding him back." Vitya paused, licking his lips. "Is he an ex? Do you even have exes?"
MONTY
Monty moved forward in a flash, grabbing Vitya by the hips, pressing the length of their bodies together, and capturing his soft lips in a hard kiss. It was rough and deep and unrelenting; the only way he could expel some of his feelings."Yeah well ya ass get's me all worked up." Mont tried to tease but it came out flat so instead of sounding sexual he just sounded tired. Monty rubbed a hand over his face, vision blurring when he pressed the heal of his hand to his eyes. He wanted to throw himself into Vitya's body and forget everything, take his pain out on the boy, but somehow he didn't have the strength, he craved human touch, the warmth of another body to take away his pain completely not just forget for a few moments the way Schuy had for a short time back when they had been together. It felt wrong to want that again after all he'd done to destroy what he and Schuy had tried to build. But Vitya was the same as Monty; he was broken too not some untouchable thing like Schuy; he was real. "Ex. Singular."
VITYA
Vitya didn't fight it when Monty got close and kissed him. In fact, he was too shocked to react. They had kissed before, usually mid-fuck, clearly just to enhance whatever they were doing at the time, but this... This was different. When they broke apart, and Monty rubbed at his eyes with the heel of his hand, Vitya took his hands off and put them at his sides. "You'll go blind doing that," he mumbled, fixing the mess he had made of Monty's hair earlier when he grabbed it. Vitya nodded, laughing low in his chest. "Guessed that much. I take it the two of you ended things poorly, and now you see how good you had it and want it back." Vitya took a few steps away, sitting himself down on the couch to give Monty room to pace, breathe, talk, whatever he needed. "Can't say I don't relate. Not a day goes by that I don't miss home. I take it he was yours?"
MONTY
The kiss had loosened some of the tension in Monty enough so that he didn't flinch away when Vitya touched his hands. Mont stretched his neck out, almost like a cat being petted, as Vitya played with his hair; it felt soothing in a way he wasn't used to, a way he hadn't felt since Schuyler. "Dunno how much of that fight ya saw but yah, fuckin' shit. Caught me cheatin', he beat the guy with a fuckin' camera then went to fuckin' Israel." Monty replied flatly, scanning the room for alcohol if only to keep his eyes from Vitya, not understanding how or why he was spilling information he never expected to share with anyone. "Dunno about home man, ain't never had one of 'em before. Ya miss the Bratva, huh?"
VITYA
Vitya could see it; the starvation of touch, the blatant want of affection without saying it. Humans were social creatures, and Monty was no different. Monty was being open, so open it nearly weirded Vitya out. But this wasn’t like Benji, spilling every little detail worth telling. Monty only said what he wanted, when he wanted. Vitya pulled his legs up and under him, patting the spot next to him on the couch. This wasn’t the first time that, as a prostitute, a client needed to vent to him. But this was the first time Vitya... cared? Payed attention? Who knows. “I saw enough.” Vitya was not surprised that Monty was a cheater. The fact he admitted it was new, a spark of humility showing in Monty’s words. Vitya smiled to himself, looking down at the hand he had resting on his thigh. “Perhaps I do. Or maybe I simply miss my ponytail.” He joked. “So, if you know he is taken, and has refused you several times, why do you keep going after him? What about him is special to you?”
MONTY
Monty bit is lip, looking between Vitya and the open spot on the couch, he stood still for a long moment in silence before breathing out heavily and sitting down beside the younger man. It was strange to have someone that wasn't Nikko asking and listening and allowing him to share at his own pace. Even wanting to share was so foreign. Somehow he felt it easy to share. It was still painful and confusing but he didn't feel judged or humiliated. “Miss that ponytail, fuckin' badass ponytail man." Monty chuckled. “Can't fuckin' tell ya why man, never felt shit for anyone but ma brother Nikk, scared the shit outta me, but without it I'm fuckin' terrified, dunno what I'll be without ever havin' that shit again, I don't wanna find out, I ain't a good guy, I don't wanna be ma Pops."
VITYA
Vitya let Monty sit and talk at his own pace. Unlike his clients, he didn’t touch him on his back for fake comfort. When the revelation about his father came out, all made sense. Monty was a gang kid, and his dad was no better. Vitya looked him up and down, biting his lip. Yeah, they had a lot in common. “...I get that. A lot more than you know.” Vitya ran his fingers in Monty’s hair again, same way as before. “If you are that fearful that you’ll end up like him, best to look at where you are. So, example; I left the country, cut my hair, have sex for a living, and am-“ Vitya chuckles sadly. “I’m basically just waiting to die instead of fighting it. All to tell my dad to fuck off. I know I’ll never be like him because nothing can drag me back there... What do you do? Ignore other people, ignore your brother a moment; what does Montgomery do to not be his father?”
MONTY
A shiver ran through Monty and a soft moan escaped his throat with his permission as Vitya ran his hands through his hair. It felt so fucking good. He felt so touch starved, not realizing it until this moment and he had to clench his fists to stop himself reaching out and grabbing onto Vitya. “Wait in’ ta die, what the fuck?” Montys eyebrows shot up in surprise and confusion, his own problems pushed to the back of his mind, refusing to concentrate on anything else, ignoring Vitya’s question.
VITYA
Vitya kept his touch going, gently coaxing Monty into a more relaxed sate. He rolled his eyes at Monty's surprise at what he said. "What, did you think I was in the hospital for the fuck of it? It doesn't matter, this isn't about me. I'm fine, you aren't." Vitya moved so his legs were crossed. "I did what I could to get to where I am. I'm not happy, but I'm content. What about that redhead is keeping you from being content? Why aren't you letting go?"
MONTY
Monty glared at Vitya, eyebrows still raised, “Aye figured ya went too hard on the drugs an’ booze been there done that but the fuck ya dyin’ fuckin’ explain that shit!” He growled, refusing to let it drop, though not entirely sure why. Monty rubbed a hand over his face again, clearly Vitya was not going to drop this. “Al’ight, go with the ignorin’ ma brother thing Red is the only one who ever gave half a fuck about me. Pops ain’t just some street thug, he’s mob, he’s a fuckin’ Don, an’ he don’t give a shit who he hurts ta get more power. With Red I didn’t have ta be the son of the Don or hide.” Monty responded, apparently finding the hem of his shirt endlessly fascinating so as to not look at Vityas expression. Monty couldn’t believe he was sharing his deepest feelings and was sure he would be laughed at for his pathetic admission. Then again this was Vitya... a guy who never judged just like Schuy... but unlike Schuy this guy had experiences of his own... maybe he understood Monty in a way Schuy never could.
VITYA
"Yes, I am, it's a stupid heart condition. Ventricular tachycardia. Had it all my life, it will kill me, end of story." Vitya said in a snappy tone. Much like Monty's reaction to Vitya's inquiry into is emotions, this was Vitya's soft spot. This was his Schuyler, in some twisted way. Vitya got it a lot more than Monty knew. He nodded, shrugging in understanding before licking his lips. "Russia is anything but legit in it's government. The state controls everything. Kind of like a mafia. Say the wrong thing, you disappear." Vitya pet at Monty's hair, this time lower, toward his neck. "If he isn't willing to make you feel the way you want to, then maybe you should go looking somewhere else. Besides, love, romance, dating- It's shit. A messy load of shit, and if it makes you feel like this-" Vitya motioned to Monty. "-Then that just proves how much it isn't worth it."
MONTY
Monty furrowed his brow, “don’t know what that is but pretty fuckin’ sure it ain’t good an’ all the booze an’ drugs ain’t helpin’. Ya said ya waitin’ ta die but man it sounds more fuckin’ like ya tryin’ ta kill ya’self!” Monty yelled, surprised by the force in his own tone. Since when did he give a shit what other people did to themselves. “Sounds like my fucking family, at least my pa is the one that makes people disappear so I ain’t goin anywhere but fuck it might be better if I did. There ain’t words ta describe how much of a prick he is.” Monty groused but relaxed again under Vityas touch. It was reassuring and yet terrifying that he seemed to be able to control Monty’s emotions this way. Yet the feeling of giving up control is was almost welcomed; he didn’t have to fight to stay in control and it gave him room to breathe. He idly wondered how Vitya had gotten out of Russia but couldn’t bring himself to ask, that seemed too much like being interested or caring. It was bad enough he’d let himself slip and ask about his illness. “It’s all bullshit. Love an’ dating an’ all that. Just made me feel fuckin’ weak an’ just waitin’ to be punched in the gut when he walked away an’ then he did walk an’ I felt like dyin’. I fuckin’ hate how he made me feel man. Never want that shit again. Never!” He ground out with a hard expression, going back to repeatedly clenching and unclenching his fists to avoid lashing out.
VITYA
"They aren't, but I'm not going out with a whimper, either. Fearing it, trying to push it back, just prevents the inevitable. I want to be here for a good time, not a long time." Vitya shook his head, throwing a hand in the air as if to give up. "Maybe I am trying to kill myself, at least I am doing it on my own terms. And I'm not jumping off bridges or that dumb shit. I'm just having fun. Like, when you decked me, and cut me with your ring, I walked away because, finally, someone did it. It made that night fun, I felt alive. If I was worried about dying all the time, I never would have gone." Vitya nodded, laughing at their similarities. "My father runs the largest pharma and drug development company in Russia. I am untouchable, back home, thanks to him. I called myself the Prince of Poison in middle school. Edgy bullshit," he said with a laugh, his hand now tracing circle's in Monty's nape, twirling the hair around his fingers. His then placed his other hand on Monty's thigh, doing a similar circular pattern. "Then maybe it's time to move on. Because if he makes you feel like that, and you hate that, running after him is fucking stupid. He doesn't want you, and you don't like how he made you feel, so what's the point?"
MONTY
“Then why the fuck are ya at college then? Ya plan on dyin’ so why do ya want a degree huh?” Monty snapped back, “sounds like ya plannin’ a future.” He raised an eye brow in an accusatory fashion. “I’d still have beat the shit outta ya even if I knew then ya dying, nobody gets near Nikko and I ain’t apologizing for that.” Monty shrugged, he wasn’t ashamed of loving his brother and wanting to protect him. “Prince of poison.” Monty barked out a laugh shaking his head. “Thought you were hot shit, huh?” He rolled his eyes. “Spent my time yellin’ at anyone who called me Montgomery, eventually they learned an’ just called me Prescott. Fuckin’ teachers spent all their time yellin’ at me anyway doubt they cared what ma first name was. Two older brothers went through the school before me, they saw a Prescott on their ledger an’ knew exactly what they were in for.” He snorted, remembering homeroom teachers giving him talkings to at the beginning of the year expressing their ‘sincere hope’ he wouldn’t be like his brothers. “Not so easy to get that fuck head outta my mind no matter how much I fuckin wish I could. Wanna forget it all.” He whispered, staring down at Vitya’s hand on his thigh. Vityas touch was beginning to make Monty hot again, heat pooling in his stomach and groin, especially once the hand was on his thigh. Monty leaned in and kissed at Vitya’s neck, just below his ear, nipping and sucking, “tell me us fucking doesn’t make ya feel alive. Tell me ya don’t feel like ya world is gunna implode if ya don’t cum. Tell me ya don’t hold me like ya might die if ya don’t when ya finally cum from my cock poundin’ ya ass.” He whispered, lips grazing the shell of Vitya’s ear as he spoke.
VITYA
Vitya's voice caught in his throat, freezing a second. He really had no reply to that. For all his spouting about not caring about his end, Monty saw right through it and asked him the one question he coudn't answer. He just shook his head, and shrugged. "Was bored," he said quickly, knowing that wasn't enough of an answer, but hoping it would slide by as if it was. Vitya laughed with Monty, smiling and biting his lip in embarrassment. "Oh yeah, I really thought I was. It was kiddy nonsense," Vitya mumbled, his smile sticking in place as Monty recounted his formative years. Little things, like homeroom teachers, stick with the strangest people, and Monty was no different. "Did you surpass your brother's before you? I would, I'd see it as a challenge. I'm the youngest, so it would be my mission to out-do my siblings." Vitya admitted with a mischievous look in his eye. "If you forgot, you'd just do it again. Best to remember, so then you know you'll never do it again," Vitya stated back, speaking a low enough tone, as if the walls could hear. And, in a split second, the air went from a freeing open space, to clenching his chest, when Monty looked down to where his hand rested. Vitya, satisfied with all the answers Monty gave, let the man have his way with his neck, angling his head just so to give him all the freedom he needed. He let out a breathy, distracted chuckle, the hand that was calmly dancing in Monty's hair now gripping a bit tighter. "If I did, I'd be lying," Vitya whispered back, uncrossing his legs. With a seductive slowness, practiced and natural, Vitya slid one leg over Monty's legs, slotting himself in Monty's lap. He took Monty's hands and placed then on his waist, where his shirt was hiked up just enough so skin touched skin. "Don't be gentle."
MONTY
"Sure bored, not thinkin' about the future at all." Monty snorted, the disbelief clear in his tone but he could read Vitya like a book the way he stumbled over the words. This would be a conversation for another day, not that he really understood why he wanted to press the issue. Monty rolled his eyes, laughing easily, feeling relaxed. "Tough guy, huh? If ya didn't look like I could break ya in two right now I'd put ya tough guy act to the test." He taunted like a school kid on the playground. "KT and Thatch are morons, not exactly hard to out do 'em. Teachers never believed me when I said I didn't cheat on exams, they always made me take 'em away from other kids with some fuckin' supervisor." He laughed remembering the first time he got 100% on a physics exam and had been accused. It had felt awful and wonderful at the same time. "Of course you wanted to make more trouble than your siblin's, you're a sucker for a bad rep aren't ya?" He chuckled, enjoying this easy banter. "Wanna forget him, all the shit I liked about him, but I'll never forget that horrible feelin' that makes my skin crawl, I'll never let myself see all that good shit in anyone again cause it ain't worth it." Monty shook his head with a deep sigh.
A hum of satisfaction escaped Monty as Vitya presented his neck, allowing Monty to have his way with him was the control he needed right now after losing his reigns on his feelings for Schuyler. Monty moaned at the tug on his hair, another flash of heat shooting through his body. "So ya don't need me to hit ya ta make ya feel alive. Don't need ta be playin' with death. Just need my cock in ya ass." He continued, biting on Vitya's lip. It wasn't a gentle nibble it was sharp aiming to cause a quick sting of pain. Monty ran his hands down the younger man's body to his ass, squeezing his butt, enjoying the feel of the muscles under his hands before forcefully pulling Vitya down so their crotches rubbed together. The pressure on his dick made Monty moan but it wasn't enough and something tripped a switch inside him so he was thinking entirely with his cock. He grabbed at Vitya's sweatpants and tore them away so he could finally get his hands on that firm, smooth bubble butt.
VITYA
Vitya laughed along with Monty. "Yeah, you probably could. I'm not the most robust guy," he said, softly. It was interesting to hear more about Monty's life growing up. It sounded individual, singular proving more and more that he was not like other people. Vitya could see that 'shitty school life' was something they shared. The only contrast was Vitya being an absolute demon at his school on purpose. "I am, the worst the rep is, the more people gossip. And I do love gossip. It's politics for the powerless." Vitya, in the hope that he could say one final thing to truly get to Monty's core on his inner drama, tucked some hair behind his ear. "Then fuck him, and the high horse he rode in on." "In the end, Death fucks us all," he whispered quickly, knowing that after this, there was going to be less and less talking. Vitya gasped at Monty biting his lip, his eyes rolling a moment before he made it an actual kiss. He slid his tongue into Monty's mouth, giving him no option but to let him in. He moaned in delight as Monty touched him, taking hold of his waist and pulling him down. Vitya's eyes went wide when he felt, and heard the sound of tearing, looking back and seeing what Monty did. "Oh, I am going to make you regret that-" he said, swiftly tearing open Monty's dress shirt. His hands overtook the new open space, his hips sliding forward to grinding against him, then back into his hands again. Vitya leaned in and kissed Monty again, giving him some payback for biting his lip by doing the same. Vitya's hands went at Monty's belt, doing what we promised earlier and starting the process of getting him out of his clothes, of which there were way too many. He had done this too any times, able to get his belt out of the loops in one swift tug, palming Monty through his jeans before starting on the button. "Fuck, how are you this hard already?"
MONTY
"I bet ya a scrappy little fucker when ya not right outta the hospital though." Monty chuckled, lightly punching at Vitya in a playful manner just to tease. It was rather odd talking about his childhood, especially school, but it was kinda nice, and he did always enjoy showing off how intelligent he was. "Always been in trouble? Makes sense, hell in high heals an' all that shit. But ya ain't exactly powerless though are ya? Bein' a Prince an' all." Monty retorted, rolling his eye again for effect before breaking down and laughing again. Monty nodded, feeling a sense of closure on todays Schuyler chapter. No doubt the pain would come again, it was like the tide in that sense, the way it came and went; but now the tide was out, his feelings were being forgotten in favour of losing himself in Vitya. "It fucks us all in the end but who said we can't go out fightin'" Monty murmured against Vitya's lips. A groan rumbled in Monty's chest feeling the force of the kiss and the demands of Vitya's tongue against his. Sometimes he needed to take control for himself, and sometimes he needed to give it over and somehow Vitya was able to give him both. Vitya's moans caused Monty to buck his hips up and increase the friction between them. Monty tried to laugh as Vitya ripped open his shirt, sending the buttons flying but it came out more like a whine, he couldn't deny how hot it was that even in his state Vitya could still do this. Mont kept his hands on his ass, working with him as he moved his hips, letting his hands roam the now exposed flesh. He grabbed the cheeks and pulled them, letting his finger tips graze his hole. A shiver ran through him at the efficiency of Vitya undoing his belt and jeans, it was speed that only came with practice and it served as a reminder of all the times they'd done this before and how good it was. "Fuck." Monty swore under his breath as the feel of Vitya's hand. "Ya got me this hard ya fuckin' dick." he groaned, as his head fell back.
VITYA
Vitya was anything but distracted. He was laser sharp was Monty's hand groped at his ass, eventually propping as his hole, making him shiver. He bit his lip and smiled as Monty lost himself to such a simple thing as a grope through his jeans. He pushed back into his hands hoping to wake the other man up a bit. Vitya carefully undid Monty's jeans, and with seasoned hands, slid his cock free from their confines. Vitya gave a fake, innocent look. "Oh, did I?" He teased, sliding his hand up and down Monty's shaft at a delicate, slow pace. He leaned into Monty's ear, nipping the lobe a moment. "So sorry about that..." "Come on, be a good boy and open me up. Want you inside me," Vitya whispered, licked down to Monty's neck, where he promptly kissed and sucked a deep, purple hickey into existence. He even bit, just for a moment, to make sure it stuck. He began to twist his wrist as his hand slid up and down Monty's shaft, encouraging him to keep going. "Are you going to pound me into the floor, or am I gonna ride you till you whimper? Decisions, decisions..." Vitya teased even more, his free hand now joining in on his jerking of Monty's cock.

Phanniemay19 Day 2: Secrets
Shit.
Danny grimaced, staring down at the concrete as his shoes hit the ground. An entire project. How am I going to get that done in a single day? He had completely forgotten about the History project due the next day due to a breakout from the ghost zone.
He put his hands on his head, feeling the headache coming from a mile away, and groaned.
He stopped to get his headphones out of his bag- gotta smother all that environmental input, right?- when he heard a noise coming from a nearby alley.
He stopped cold, listening, hand itching to snatch the Fenton thermos from his bag. Rustling and what sounded like the rattling of a can falling resounded out of the alleyway, and he snuck as quietly as he could to peer around the corner.
At first sight, there was nothing. Just a couple trash bags, and the back entrance to a building which looked like it hadn't been opened in a couple decades. Movement caught his eye, however, and something was definitely moving behind one of those trash bags.
He followed his instincts, removing his Fenton thermos from his bag and stalking up to the oversized bag. He resisted the urge to cough from the rancid smell in the alleyway as he reached the trashbag.
He reached a hand towards it cautiously, ready to leap back at any moment and uncap the thermos.
He grabbed the bag roughly, flinging it to the side (with some struggle- Danny wasn't that strong). And to his surprise, there was no ghost lurking, no rabid coyote rummaging for food. No, no, instead, tangled in a torn up towel, was a tiny black kitten.
“Oh,” he sighed in relief. He screwed the cap on the thermos and tossed it back in his bag. He looked down at the little guy, fur matted with some unknown substance and greasy in the few places it was clear. It was clear the kitten was homeless, if not for the fur than for the way its ribs were clearly visible even under all of its fur.
He couldn't lie, it tugged on his heartstrings. The kitten let out a pitiful mew, twisting to release its paw from where it was stuck in the towel, and Danny practically melted. He reached out to untangle it, and it jolted, flinching away from his hand and thrashing to get away.
“Shh, shh,” he murmured quietly, but the kitten was not calmed. “It's okay. It's okay.” He didn't want to get caught by the kitten's tiny claws- as innocent as it looked, he knew they could carry diseases- so he wrapped the sleeve of his sweatshirt around his hands before reaching again. The kitten couldn't do much, being all wrapped up, but hell if it didn't try.
Danny freed one paw from the strings, and the kitten slipped out of his hands, trying to run away. However, one paw was still snagged, and it dragged the towel behind it.
Danny quickly caught it again- he had no doubt that had the towel not been there the kitten would be long gone by now- and freed his last foot. The kitten let out a high pitched growl and sunk it's little teeth into his hand. His sweatshirt muffled all but the slight pressure and the kitten's ears were flattened down against its head, clearly afraid.
Realizing he wouldn't be able to do anything productive, he released the kitten, and it raced into the shadows. He sighed, and went to retrieve his backpack, slipping the Fenton thermos inside and shouldering it on.
He guessed he actually had to deal with that project now, huh?
-----
It was a minor ghost. It really shouldn't have been such a huge problem- it usually didn't take him longer than a few minutes to take down a ghost such as this.
But they had been dancing around each other for at least half an hour already, and dead or undead, Danny was tiring.
He shot several ghost rays at the ghost, all but one of which it dodged with unnatural agility, the other barely clipping its side. It let out an unearthly shriek which didn't do anything but make his ears ring.
“Hey, use your inside voice!”
Okay, he would admit it. It wasn't his best quip. But he was tired, alright? Cut him some slack. He had gotten a grand total of one hour of sleep that night, working on Lancer's essay til 3 while insomnia took over the rest. And it was the night after that, and it was already almost 2 am, and he just really wanted to get the hell out of there and get in his bed.
That is, until he heard a small, squeaky mew.
He looked around frantically, trying to scan the alleyway while also dodging the ghost's attack. At first he couldn't find anything, until he saw a tiny black face peeking out from between a trash can lid and the brick wall.
Oh, hell no.
He couldn't even be responsible for his own life- sometimes lack thereof. How was he supposed to think about protecting this kitten along with himself?
Well, he thought. I can't just stop fighting, so….
The ghost took advantage of his apparent distraction, and attacked him in a way Danny had never seen before.
Its tail extended, but thinned, and thwipped out towards him like a whip.
Maybe he shouldn't have made that comparison, because as fast as he tried to move out of the way, it unfurled in a fraction of a second, cutting through the air so quick Danny could barely see it.
But damn did he feel it when it hit his abdomen, letting out a harsh crack.
Danny was a tough guy- he could admit it. He screamed.
Ow ow ow ow-
Before he could recover, it lashed again, this time the strike hitting his shoulder and wrapping around to his back.
He didn't need to look to know the wound was awful. It was freezing, and he would bet that the fabric was torn and that ectoplasm was seeping out.
He couldn't take this much longer.
He raised his hand, shooting as many ghost rays as he possibly could. There were so many bullets that the ghost couldn't dodge all of them.
They continued like that, dodging and shooting and, in Danny's case, screaming occasionally.
The pain in his abdomen worsened the longer he fought- it buzzed, but it didn't feel asleep. It felt like the wound was sinking deeper and deeper, corrupting his organs and crumbling his bones.
He was almost worried that it was true- you can never really tell with ecto attacks.
The ghost caught his face, bruising his cheek and leaving him dizzy.
And it had no mercy.
Crack.
Pain.
Crack.
Pain.
Crack.
Pain.
He stopped screaming on the second blow, only having enough energy to let out a broken whimper.
I have to get closer, he thought.
And it took him a while, but he did.
He uncapped the Fenton thermos, and the ghost began to blur into the container. But not before it manage to fire off one last bullet.
The ghost swirled into the depths of the thermos, and he shoved the cap on as quick as he could. And it was a good thing, too, because he most surely would have dropped it.
The blast met its mark, slamming into his chest.
He fell.
It felt like 3 years, he was falling, but it was undoubtedly no longer than 3 seconds before he hit the ground.
It knocked the air out of him, and he couldn't breathe. His ears rang, but it sounded as if he were underwater, sounds such as his thermos hitting the ground muffled and far away. His vision was spotted with splotches of black. He felt like radio static.
He choked. His chest seized and he couldn't breathe.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe breathe breathe
He felt his own blood- ectoplasm- no, that was warm, it was blood. Had he turned back? He couldn't. Remember. Remember.
He coughed, and he breathed.
He sucked in air like a ravenous man who hadn't eaten for weeks, heaving. He coughed again, and fuck, that was a bad idea. With every breath his chest ached bad.
He paused, laying there. He would have to get up eventually. He had a French test the next day- it was his only A. French test. French test.
Get up.
Come on, he thought. I need to get up.
But his body didn't seem to agree. He leaned upwards, and his chest released a sharp pang of pain.
Okay, sure. Maybe getting up wasn't such a good idea after all.
He lay there in the abandoned alleyway. He shut his eyes, and he probably would have fallen asleep if it hadn't been for a cold something touching his hand.
He yelped, jerking his hand away and sitting up far too fast. It made his head spin and fuck his entire chest felt like it had been run over by a truck.
He looked around for his assailant, and he sighed in relief. It was the kitten.
He reached a hand towards it, and it ducked, it's tail fluffing up like a bottle brush.
“Okay, okay,” he muttered lazily, too tired to do much else.
He closed his eyes, but the kitten stepped on him again. He opened his eyes, and the kitten's green eyes bored into his own. He didn't move, and it slowly and cautiously creeped up onto his stomach. He winced when it stepped on one of the cuts from the whip, but he left it alone, not wanting to scare it away. He coughed, however, and it jumped, leaping off his stomach. He sighed and began to get up.
He heaved himself onto his feet, and sure enough, he was in his human form. And his clothes were ripped. And, worse, stained with crimson. He didn't even know how much he bled- hopefully not so much that he'd have to ask Jazz to help him. She was a worrier, and it rubbed off on Danny, making him anxious.
So he began the walk home.
He stopped maybe halfway there to throw up in a nearby bush. He hoped he didn't have a concussion- that would be really bad.
As soon as he made it to his house, he opted to climb in the window. He doubted his ability to be subtle about shutting the door this late at night, and his parents were light sleepers (“Keeps us on our toes in case of ghouls!”).
He climbed in his window, and he stripped off his ruined shirt. He put it in a plastic bag- he couldn't very well throw it away in the kitchen garbage can, so he planned on throwing his ruined clothing in the outside garbage tomorrow morning.
Before he could do much else, he heard a tiny meow from outside his window.
Are you fucking with me right now?
He opened the window, and sure enough, there on the sidewalk below him was a tiny black blob. “God, fucking shit fuck asshole-” he sighed and ran his hands threw his hair. He couldn't leave it out there. He couldn't. His heart ached for the little thing.
He climbed down from his window once more, and he knelt to pick it up. It hissed.
“Make up your mind!” He whisper-yelled.
The kitten eyed him warily, but approached, sniffing.
It seemed to have gotten what it needed, and he reached to pick it up. It's eyes narrowed, but it seemed to accept him.
He picked it up, and he gnawed on his hand lightly, looking up at him.
“Aww,” he cooed. He used his other hand to rub a thumb on it's little forehead, and it leaned into the touch. It seemed like an entirely different cat.
He made quick work of sneaking the cat up to his room. As soon as he made it in his window, the kitten leapt down to the ground, sniffing around it's surroundings.
He closed the window and latched it.
It wasn't until he went to lay down that he remembered that his whole body ached like hellfire. I should probably wrap this, he thought.
He exited his room, shutting the door quietly but quickly to avoid the kitten escaping, and he crept to the bathroom. He retrieved the hefty medkit he and Jazz had bought from the top corner of the bathroom closet and made his way back to his room.
He sat on his bed gingerly and turned on his lamp along with his light. Lifting up his shirt, he gingerly poked at the marks left by the lashes. They were definitely bleeding, but the blood had already started to clot around the wounds. They weren't deep enough to need stitches, but he would definitely have to disinfect them and wrap them.
He started with removing his shirt before whiping away the blood surrounding them with a wet cloth. After, he went in with the disinfecting wipes in the kit for around them.
He and Jazz used to use rubbing alcohol to clean his wounds, but Jazz had switched it all out, talking about how the harsh liquid wasn't good for wounds. So Danny has to use saltwater to wash out the wound- apparently it was better than the alcohol, and it hurt less, which was a win.
He still hissed when he poured it from the bottle. He dabbed it with a napkin.
Then, the sound of claws in fabric could be heard as the kitten grappled its way up his comforter onto his bed. It squeaked quietly, and sniffed around him, as if in concern. Danny smiled weakly, the little furball giving him a some small amount of joy. It curled up against his leg, and he knew the guilt would kill him when he had to move.
After disinfecting all of his wounds he could reach- the one reaching around his back the only one he couldn't get- he sealed them with an excess amount of butterfly stitches. After they were all secured to his satisfaction, he gently wrapped the majority of his torso in a thin layer of gauze. He learned the hard way that having just s little gauze went a long way when it came to comfort.
When the cuts had been treated, he turned his attention to his chest, where a huge, sprawling bruise sprouted from his sternum. It was already dark blue and red, with hints of purple here and there. He poked it gingerly and winced. That was gonna be a bitch to heal.
He sighed down at the little kitten leaning against his leg, not asleep but clearly tired.
“You're gonna need some food, aren't you, baby?” the kitten blinked up at him, yawning.
And that was how Jazz found him sneaking back up the stairs with a bowl of water and a plate loaded with a considerably large amount of salami.
“What are you doing?” She asked, crossing her arms.
“Uhmm…” he faltered. “I'm doing a… biology project…”
Jazz fixed him with a calculating stare. “I thought you had biology last year.”
He could have hit himself. “I did!” He coughed once, twice, almost spilling the water. “I meant- I meant chemistry. I'm doing a chemistry project.”
“At almost three in the morning?” she met his eyes, and he held her stare. Don't break eye contact. She can smell fear.
“...Yes.”
She squinted suspiciously. He could feel the sweat in his hands.
Finally, relief. “You should really work on staying more up to date with your homework. You're in sophomore year, Danny-”
“Yeah! Yeah, totally, I get it, Jazz-” he began to back up towards his door.
“You really need to kick into gear-”
“You're entirely right. Anyways I'm just gonna-” he bumped into the wall, and he desperately wanted to escape.
“If you want, I could always help you with your homework-”
“Yeah, yeah! That's great Jazz, thank you-”
“Wait, Danny, hold on-”
“Goodnight, Jazz, love you!” He opened the door and slid into his room as fast as he could, shutting it behind him.
He slid his back down the door, sighing in relief. He set the water and the salami down on the floor, looking around for his friend.
At first glance, he couldn't spot it, but upon further searching, Danny spotted a little pink nose peeking out from under his bed.
He moved the water toward the kitten, and it backed up a few steps, fading further into the dark. He picked up a piece of salami and extended his arm- shit, other arm, this one got whipped.
The kitten sniffed the air began to creep forward. Once it was within arm's reach, he held the salami under its nose, and it began a soft growl. Seeing the warning- probably there because this cat had lived on the streets- he left the salami on the ground and retracted his hand. It eyed him warily, and once it decided he wasn't going to try and take it, it bit the slice and shook her head, and within a matter of maybe 20 seconds, it was gone.
It scarfed down the rest of the salami in a similar fashion. Maybe he shouldn't be giving a cat so much salami, but it wasn't as if they had cat food lying around, and he was trying his best.
Once the kitten realized he had water, it cautiously stepped towards it, never once taking its big green eyes off of him. He tried to hold as still as he could, not wanting to scare it away.
Clearly, it was thirsty, because it drank for a solid three minutes straight. Danny didn't even know if it was breathing.
Satisfied that the kitten was fed and watered and would be okay for the night, he flicked the lights off and crawled under his comforter. He rolled to one side, and immediately rolled to the other when it became evident that his wounds would make it uncomfortable to sleep.
He took a deep breath, and fell asleep, the last thing he heard being a quiet purr from beneath his bed.
-----
It was a slow day. Like, a really slow day. Lancer's essay had finished yesterday, and they were starting a new unit. He had work in his other classes, but they were busy work, and not exactly hard.
He was walking with Sam and Tucker out in the courtyard.
“I really don't know what was up with that ghost. It was super strong for one like that, and I swear I was fighting it for, like, an hour,” he complained.
Tuck sighed in sympathy, resting a hand on Sam's shoulder. “A moment of silence for our fallen brother, who also had to write Lancer's essay in under two hours.”
Sam smacked his hand away and Tucker snorted. “Well, you wouldn't have that problem if you just did the work like you're supposed to.”
“Shut up, Sam, you're fucking gifted when it comes to essays-” Tucker began.
“No, I just have opinions you plain ass-”
Danny didn't get to hear the rest of that sentence, because across the courtyard, he spotted a little black smudge. It can't be, he thought. He had made sure to lock his door and close his window before he left. But sure enough, as they walked closer, he definitely recognized the uneven fur and huge green eyes.
Looking around for any teachers, he started forth to nab the little furball. To his surprise, it didn't even hiss, just gnawed gently on his thumb.
“Is that a cat?” He heard Sam say as she and Tucker caught up to him.
“Uh yeah…” he began. “I found it a couple times on the streets and it followed me home last night.”
“Well, first of all, it is definitely a she,” Sam protested.
“How do you know?” Tucker piped in.
“Is it really a surprise that I enjoy studying animal anatomy?” Sam rolled her eyes. “I'm a vegan.”
Danny heard Tucker mutter “yeah, we know,” and Sam's resultant squawk of indignation, but was distracted by Dash, who was sauntering up to them with his usual cocky gait.
Danny sighed. What would he want today? Lunch money? (Danny almost laughed at that.) “What do you want, Dash?”
“Is that a cat?” Dash looked at him coldly, but his voice was probably the least mean he'd ever heard it.
“It sure is, Dash,” Tucker began. “Very astute observation of you.”
“Foley, I swear to God, I'll beat your-”
“Okay! Okay, guys, calm down. Yes, Dash, it is a cat. Is that all you wanted?” Sam interjected.
“No,” Dash addressed her. He turned back to Danny, and if Danny didn't know any better, he'd say Dash was looking at the cat affectionately. “What's her name?”
“Uh,” Danny halted. “Uh- her name is, um.” He racked his brain, but before he could come up with something good, he blurted, “Phil. Her name's Phil.”
Dash eyed him incredulously, and Danny wanted to jump off a building.
“Fenton, I don't know if you're aware of this, but did you know that Phil is actually usually a guy's name?” Sarcasm dripped from seemingly every orifice on Dash's face.
“Its- it's short for-” he thought wildly. “-Philadelphia.”
“...Why?”
“Um. My. My uncle lives there,” He blurted lamely.
“But, Danny,” Tucker piped up. “You don't have a-”
“Shut your hoe mouth, Tucker-”
“That's the dumbest name for a cat I've ever heard,” Dash finally replied. Danny couldn't retaliate, because Dash was right. Philadelphia was a horrible name for a cat. But to Danny's surprise, Dash shuffled a bit, looking almost nervous. “...Can I hold her?”
Danny eyed him, shocked. He'd never heard Dash so docile in his life. He was hesitant, but as much of a dick as Dash was, Danny didn't think he'd hurt an animal. “Uhh… sure.”
Danny held out the kitten- Phil, god he would never live this down- and Dash took her gently, cradling her against his chest. Danny half hoped she would go wild and attack Dash, but to his surprise, she started up a little purr. Dash rubbed her little forehead, and she raised her chin into the touch.
Danny made incredulous eye contact with Sam and Tuck, who were about as shocked as he was.
Dash cooed at her, a small smile on his face. (Danny couldn't help the fact that the smile made Dash look… almost…. Cute. But Danny was absolutely not going to deal with that right now.)
Dash held Phil back out to Danny, and he took her back. “...Thanks,” Dash gritted out. “She's cute.”
Then, he sauntered away, as if anything about that situation was normal.
Danny turned back to Sam and Tucker, who were both recovering from their shellshock. Tucker, however, began to cackle, and Sam rolled her eyes.
“Really? Phil? Danny, you really are one dumb bitch-”
---
He ended up explaining the whole story of Phil's existence to Tucker and Sam on their walk from school that day, leaving out the part about almost dying in that fight against the ghost.
“But you guys can't tell Jazz, or my mom or dad about her,” Danny pleaded.
“Why not?” Tucker asked.
“Because, I don't think my parents would let me keep a cat in the house, and then Jazz would lecture me on how it was irresponsible to take in a living creature and i need to take it to a shelter-”
“Yeah, that's because Jazz is smart, and you should listen to her,” Sam argued. “You really need to take it to a shelter. Actually, I know where a super humane one is, we can go right now-
“No, no, Sam, please!” Danny held Phil, who was curled up in his arms. “Please. I'll take her to one eventually, I just…” he tried to justify not taking her sooner, and he couldn't. “I don't know. I don't know, okay? I wanna keep her around. I like her.”
Sam fixed him with furrowed brows. After several seconds, she sighed. “Fine. But only because you're my best friend and I love you.”
Danny smiled weakly. “Thanks, Sam. Love you too.”
“Wow. Thanks, guys. I'm really feeling the love over here,” Tucker interjected jokingly.
“Love you too, Tucker,” Danny and Sam said in synchrony, overly sweet.
“Aww, really?” Tucker said, clutching a hand on his chest and swooning. “You guys are too sweet.”
---
Upon arriving at his house, he soon realized that he would have to walk through the entire thing to get to his room. And he was not going to do that while holding Phil in plain sight.
Checking his window, he found that it was locked.
“I'm sorry, Phil,” he muttered, unzipping his backpack. He shoved everything as deep as he could, and set her inside. He choked back a wave of guilt as she looked up at him before he zipped it closed.
Luckily, he didn't have too much trouble on his way to his room. The only road bump was his mom sitting at the kitchen table, asking him about his day.
As soon as he shut his door, he unzipped his backpack, and she jumped out, fur ruffled. As soon as she got the chance, she scurried away under his bed.
And it was lucky, too, because mere seconds later, Jazz threw open his door unannounced.
“Jazz!” He exclaimed, scrambling up from his floor.
“Hey, Danny, do you-” she was interrupted by a sharp sneeze.
“Bless you.”
“Thanks,” she said. “I just wanted to know if you-” she sneezed again. “-if you knew where my calculus-” she sneezed twice in a row. “-my calculus binder is.”
And then Danny remembered Jazz was allergic to cats.
“No, sorry.” He rushed to get her out before she noticed, and God forbid Phil run out from her hiding space before Jazz was gone. “Did you look in the lab? Maybe dad mistook it for his studies or something.” He ushered her back towards his door.
“No, I didn't-” sneeze- “but I will. Thanks.” She sneezed one final time, and Danny sighed in relief when she shut the door behind her.
He sat on his bed, falling back. He immediately regretted it when the pain in his abdomen flared up, but that was easily fixed by a couple Advil.
He suddenly realized how tired he was. He had gotten maybe four or five hours of sleep total in the past three days, and healing was evidently taking up a lot of energy. But for the first time in a while, he actually didn't have any homework. So it wouldn't matter if he took a quick 20 minute nap, right?
---
The next time he woke up, his brain felt stuffed with cotton, and he honestly couldn't tell whether or not he was currently on earth.
Picking up his phone- which was at 7%, he noticed- he found that it was 2:37 am.
Great. Just when he thought he'd have the chance to right his sleep schedule.
He tried rolling over and going back to sleep, but his mind was already up and running. Danny knew he wouldn't get to sleep for at least a few hours, if at all, so he opted to make the most out of his time.
He sat up and stretched, his back popping in multiple different places. He moved to swing his legs over the side of the bed, but a weight on his legs stopped him.
Of course. It was Phil, curled up in a tiny ball and sleeping soundly- at least until he sat up. Now, she yawned, looking up at him curiously. Her hair was sticking up all over the place, and she still looked greasy…
He had nothing better to do, right?
So he gave her a bath in his bathroom sink filled with lukewarm water. She struggled, her meows were high pitched but quiet. His heart broke every time she looked at him with those wide, terrified eyes.
He washed her black fur with Dawn dish soap- that was safe, right? That was the one with the commercials about washing baby ducks.
By the time he was done, the water was a murky brownish red, and dead fleas floated on the surface. It was disgusting. A quick Google yielded the information that, evidently, the red tint in the water was because of all the fleas that were killed by the dish soap. He struggled to think that so many fleas lived on a single kitten.
She looked tiny like this, with her fur plastered down from being wet. He could see her ribs and he would be lying if he said it didn't make him tear up just a little bit. Danny swaddled her in a towel and an extra soft blanket that he had. She attempted to worm her way out of the burrito multiple times, but each time Danny thwarted her attempts. He also retrieved more salami from the fridge.
By the time he was satisfied that she wouldn't freeze outside of the blanket, Phil had fallen asleep. That was okay- he curled up on his side and her little burrito rested against his chest, her fluffy, (now) soft fur barely poked over the top, and he couldn't stop himself from giving her a little kiss on the head.
Well, he knew right then that he probably couldn't give her up. He would cry in the shelter.
He couldn't keep her a secret forever. She couldn't very well eat salami for the rest of her life, and he would like to get her checked out by a vet.
He did feel bad about Jazz's allergy, though.
But he thought she would like Phil if she didn't have it. Hopefully they could work something out?
He sighed, and closed his eyes.
He was just drifting off, when a thought popped to the forefront of his mind.
Her name's Phil. Short for Philadelphia. My uncle lives there.
He was such a fucking idiot.

Ocean’s 11 ~ Cosmos Troupe 2019
Ocean’s was great! I loved it so much! I thought the previous two versions were fine, but never cared for either enough to go back and watch them again. Turns out if you adore every single person in the troupe putting it on, the ensemble cast makes it a home run.
If I remember correctly, there are some noticeable differences between the Hoshigumi and Hanagumi versions. This was a slightly tweaked and polished Hanagumi version. The show does a great job of featuring a lot of people; nearly everyone gets something fun to do (it’s consequently not the best taidan for Akkii or Riku, but if it wasn’t their last I’d really say it’s good for everybody). The scenes change quickly (and flow a lot better than I remember), so even if a given person’s appearances are short they’re typically fairly frequent. I’m not terribly pleased that the prolific use of projections seems to be a continuing theme in Takarazuka, but Ocean’s actually used them WELL, and with all the hacking/security/surveillance going on, and the flashing lights and artificiality of Las Vegas, it actually makes sense.
There are three (3!) major ad lib scenes that are different every day, something I didn’t realize ahead of time having only seen the previous versions on DVD:
Tess walking in on Benedict and his lackeys trying to physically threaten the Evergreen people into handing over the rights to their non-profit and Benedict having to lie about what they were doing
Saul giving everyone a pre-caper “acting lesson” in which Susshii says something ridiculous and the rest of the eleven have to remember it and mimic her in unison
Rusty pretending to be “Dr. Johnson” to cart Saul off after the fake heart attack that serves as a distraction during the actual heist (for those who can read Japanese, one brave twitter user is keeping track of all the Dr. Johnson ad libs)
...and these made me really look forward to seeing the show again and again. I probably could have gone every day and been thoroughly entertained.
Danny Ocean is the most boring vanilla blank canvas of a character and requires the actress playing him to really bring everything herself. Fortunately, Makaze and her devastatingly attractive body could have stood in the corner in those open-necked suits without saying a word for 3 hours and I’d still have given it a 10/10. On top of that though, I thought she played him perfectly. Her sort of low-key coolness that for me has come off a bit stiff at times with some of her other top star stuff was spot on for Danny, who I fully believed was chill, aloof, and sexy enough to both pull off such an impossible robbery without a moment’s anxiety, AND stalk the woman trying to divorce him such that she was not only NOT immediately put off completely but also ultimately able to fall back in love with him. In the dream sequence that opens Act 2, when Makaze changes from serpent to prince and leaves the bouquet of flowers on Tess’s bed for her to accept whenever she’s ready, my heart clenched so bad I accidentally groaned audibly the first time I saw it. She also sang the best I’ve ever heard her sing.
Madoka is a beautiful Tess, and above all else I was THRILLED that they finally let her have such a grown up role and that she slayed it. I had absolutely no doubt that she’d slay it; she’s a fantastic actress who as far as I can tell is only battling her round little face and height difference with Makaze when it comes to getting mature roles. But they styled her flawlessly and her dresses were to die for and she looked so fantastic I hope all concerned parties got the hint that this is fine. I want to see the two of them do something sizzling hot together (although I have to admit, dude chasing after his wife who wants so badly to divorce him IS a fun dynamic that we never really get to see in Takarazuka, unless they’re doing Ocean’s).
I love Kiki more and more every time I see her, and while it’s hard not to be annoyed that she’s not a top star already, I will be so furious if they take her away from Soragumi; I absolutely love what they bring out of her. I think she and Makaze have a great dynamic together, and she was both cool and funny enough to make Rusty very enjoyable to watch. There wasn’t a single Dr. Johnson scene I saw that didn’t have me laughing out loud and wishing I had another ticket. One day I sat in B-seki with a group of students on a class trip, and one of them gasped すごい when she finished her finale-opening solo. Here’s a funny story from Makaze’s ochakai that I read on twitter: there is a duet between Danny and Rusty during which Rusty lights a cigarette, and apparently Koike wanted to modernize Ocean’s by giving him an IQOS instead. Makaze convinced him that was the worst idea ever and wants all Kiki fans to thank her personally.
MVP: Zun as Benedict. I suspect her interpretation might be polarizing once the world at large gets to see Ocean’s, but I loooooved it. Once upon a time there was a Japanese meme going around about what kind of date various prominent otokoyaku would bring you on, and Zun was pegged as a young, sweet, filthy rich kid who would reserve the entirety of Disneyland and then take you there. Her Benedict was like the evil version of that. I appreciated so much that she went a different direction than Beni and Daimon and played him as just a rich sleazy horrible asshole without the over-the-top comical bits—and she was STILL very funny, just as the straight man to everyone else’s ridiculous antics. She was so dark, so angry, and had such a scary glint in her eyes for such a cute little muffin; so impressively gross it was weird to see her smiling genuinely in the finale. And she’s a DAMN GOOD STAGE KISSER, astonishingly so for someone who’s yet to have a romantic lead outside of shinko and Bow Hall. I very much enjoyed her team as well—mostly Mitsuki Haruka as Taylor, Aishiro Moa as Beth, and Hoshizuki Rio as Charles, keeping things funny and chaotic. Kihou Kanata/Manase Mira were even hilarious as the bodyguards (Wakato Ritsu was a fine Bruiser, but IMO it’s pretty hard to beat Taso... and I felt a gaping hole where Fuuma Kakeru should have been).
Seiko could have carried this show by herself. For whatever reason—and I rewatched the Hanagumi version recently—I didn’t think Queen Diana, outside of being sassy, was as good of a role as it was (does the DVD fail to show a lot of her antics? Maybe. Was I doing a lousy job paying attention? Possibly). But no, Seiko was all over it, convincingly the biggest force in Vegas (and this cast). I am going to miss her so so so much. Akkii and Riku ended up with the more senior but less meaty roles of Frank and Basher respectively. While Frank is on the quieter side during most of the scenes with all the 11 except for his opening solo and arrest, I personally, for probably biased reasons, really enjoyed watching Akkii and Sora in the background, where Frank is very frequently trying to coerce Linus into getting over himself and just doing the thing already. I don’t know if this has been especially tough on Riku, but her eye bags have eye bags :( As much as I’m going to miss her, I hope she gets through this and takes a nice long rest. The Soragumi landscape is going to be so weird and different without these three. They come down for the parade together with Seiko in the middle and I got choked up every single time.
I’m thrilled that Sora got Linus mostly from a rank standpoint; they announced Ocean’s before Aichan’s transfer to Senka and I was positive she was going to be Livingston. The role itself kind of unfortunately emphasized how tiny and behind she is in this troupe, but at the same time she was SO grumpy and SO cute. I feel bad taking pleasure in her angst but boy was she cute. She talked about how interesting it was to play someone who was struggling to overcome his own roadblocks, both as the only upperclassman to ever play this role, and also having just turned ken-10, where otokoyaku are supposed to “come of age” so to speak. And the frustration and uncertainty she put into the role was extremely palpable. As I’m used to her being a disembodied arm or a blurry image over someone’s shoulder on most DVDs, I couldn’t be happier that she finally has a whole solid handful of her very own scenes that I might actually be able to see not only in the theater. She’s closer to the middle when the otokoyaku dance too, AND she moved up a parade spot. I most definitely teared up when she came down the stairs featured between Rara and Mineri.
Moeko was SO CUTE as Livingston, and the scene where Rusty busts into Livingston’s place pretending to be an FBI agent was one of my favorites, along with the one where Danny comes to get the Malloy brothers and they mess with his face on the security camera. I’m so enamored with both Kotti and Yuuki Shion (Yuuki Shion dangerously so, YIKES; she’s like the awkward baby Sora I fell in love with reincarnated, plus she can do Komu-esque things with her legs and jump so astonishingly high). I will forever be obsessed with Susshii and how much joy and passion she pours into playing even the most crotchety old men. I don’t know what it IS about Rinkira that screams old man to the producers (other than that maybe they just need someone to do it), but I even liked her as Reuben, and Akine Hikaru as Yen a surprising amount. I always thought of Yen as a scary role that you don’t want your girl to get stuck with, and for someone prominent I guess it would be a bummer, but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed Akine Hikaru do much of anything before, so I was mostly just wide eyed at how acrobatic and good with a yo-yo she is.
The finale is REAL good; Makaze is hot and a little sweaty and her hair is styled to make her look even sweatier. The top-star-in-a-harem-of-musumeyaku number is done in one of my favorite aesthetics, where the musumeyaku let their hair down (literally) no matter how intricately they were styled up to that point, and you can see the creases from their former pins and braids and it’s a little messy and loose and sexy which are all things I wish they’d let musumeyaku be more often, and Makaze is in the middle just like doing illegal things with her mouth and all that jazz. The otokoyaku dance is good too, and the duet dance is cute as shit (there’s a part where Makaze like boops Madoka’s nose and then Madoka pushes her like ~stop that~ and ugh).
And speaking of ugh, the end of Act 1 where all 11 of them turn around and saunter toward the back of their stage after formulating their flawless plan put my stomach in knots, both for the sheer swagger and the overflowing love I feel for this lineup of this troupe. I know I’ve been saying this for like two years and it STILL hasn’t happened on the scale I’ve been expecting, but I can feel the transfers coming and I’m scared.

Holiday Truce Gift- Wes Weston study
I will admit this was supposed to be a character study of Wes Weston but then I saw a prompt on Tumblr about the lack of logical scars. Of course, the canon show isn’t really logical but they should have at least put vague lines there to show scars. We know scars can be kept on ghosts due to Clockwork. Be warned times passes quickly as I wrestled with this idea.
Looking at my bedroom wall I couldn’t help but think of how it has changed through the past school year. At the beginning of the year, there were pictures of a few famous basketball players.
Then came the emergence of the Phantom or the Ghost Boy as he was called in the beginning. The change of the wall came slowly and then all at once.
It started simple with one sketch of Phantom that I commissioned an artist on Tumblr that I followed and admired. Then a poster dedicated to a few sightings of Phantom around town.
By November, the first basketball poster came off to make room for more images of Phantom. I convinced myself that after I minimalized when I had more time-probably over Winter break- it would go right back up.
However, I knew even then, in my heart if secret hearts, that I was trying to fool myself. When I furled it back out in the middle of February for the annual garage sale my parents insisted on doing, I threw it semi-carefully into the box labelled ‘Garage sale’.
It mattered even less when I quit the basketball team. It seemed shocking to my parents yet they understood my decisions eventually. A week after quitting I saw a black-haired male transform into Phantom. It took another week of school for me to learn his name. Well, what I mean is, is that I heard of him but I never connected the person to the name.
The person that transformed into Phantom was Danny always picked on by Dash Fenton. Who wasn’t to be confused with his older sister who Dash had a crush on. The Friday two weeks after I figured out who Phantom was would be the most accurate spot place where my obsession began.
Looking at the wall now, there is only images of Phantom, the enemies he faces, and a few pictures of solely Sam, Tucker, and Danny. I couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride and accomplishment of the detailed work that I have done.
Each enemy has at least one detailed notecard with details on visible powers, personal info, and where and when they have attacked. A few even had who they were before they were ghosts. Take the lunch lady ghost as an example. It was easy to figure out who she was. A dedicated lunch lady that made the lunches the exact same way as they are now 50 years after her death. Of course, I had backups of all this data written down multiple times in different books and google drive just for same keeping.
Sam, Tucker, and Danny’s notecards were different. They had what they helped Phantom and Fenton with. When those two were eventually transformed into ghosts another notecard was added for their ghost half.
For Sam, it was when she managed to transform into a plant ghost. Not overly surprising that her ghost self had powers over plants when Sam adores her greenhouse and the plants inside there.
Tuckers ghost self was unusual. He didn’t get ghost powers for all that he has a ‘girlfriend’ in his beloved PDA. He was some sort of Egyptian Emperor. Either way, neither of them had ghost powers anymore and that is what had mattered to everyone at school, their teachers, and parents.
Knowing that Fenton was Phantom doesn’t seem to have any perks for me. Danny took every opportunity to show off how blind everyone in town was. For the annual Casper High Halloween party festival thing that went on Danny dressed up as Phantom. The only difference was that Danny kept his human half blue eyes. That shit. No one even suspected a single thing. Not even Paulina who was self-proclaimed in love with Phantom! Asshole Fenton.
Almost a full year later since Phantom first starred on the news.
Ok so in actuality it was the first full week of summer vacation when everything shifted. I was no longer joked and teased. In as much secret as possible other students came to me to hear my ideas and possibilities of Phantom and about Phantom. Finally, people were listening! Yet, at what cost to Danny?
*Flashback*
I was both on my phone and watching the news displaying Phantom creating a small snow cloud over a portion of Amnity’s main and only park’s grass. Well, the small children seemed to adore having snow to help with the unusual heat of the afternoon. The news report changed to a ghost attacking another part of Amnity. Phantom quickly found out about the attack and first rushed over to the parents of the children then rushed to help the fleeing people there. I haven’t heard a name yet but I grabbed my supplies of notecards, pens, and switched to recording the audio of the news report to my phone.
I knew that depending on what ghost powers this new ghost had it would take a few minutes or even days to defeat them.
About 5 minutes later I watched as Danny was repeatedly beaten soundly and squarely. While the camera focused on the attacking ghost I took a few quick pictures to print out and size later.
I was already taking notes on what powers the new ghost displayed.
About an hour later I was highly concerned. Danny still was being beaten and unable to get many good hits to the new ghost. While I was watching my eye caught a small detail. Dany’s jumpsuit was coming off and apart slowly but surely. The next attack flung Phantom sailing backwards with his back to the camera above taping the report.
It was only able to be seen due to the fact that functionally all of the tops of the jumpsuit was destroyed. There on his back were scars that looked all connected like lightening. From what I could see was that it was one scar that disappeared over his front. The scar was a bright red, there were thicker and thinner lines and all of the liner were jagged.
The usual yapping by the reporter was cut off and there was silence. The eerie silence gave the report a feel for even more shock then what I thought possible. Once Danny crashed through a building-luckily turning intangible before impact so there wasn’t any more structural damage. The last things I heard and saw before the camera shut off was the attacking ghost clearly looking for Phantom and the reporter asking “What were those scars?”
The next time that the same report came back on it was showing how Phantom was now defeating the formerly attacking ghost.
‘Damnit! I still don’t have a name!’ I thought furiousely.
At least the jumpsuit was repaired completely. Although it was clear to see that Danny was still in pain, but was giving his all. As usual, he was able to eventually able to defeat the ghost and it was quickly sucked into the thermos. Then, as usual, Dany turned invisible soon after making sure that there was no one stuck in any rubble.
It wasn’t surprising to see another report of Phantom gracing the news. This time the topic was how and what those scars were and meant. It was made clear by the close-up -yet still a bit grainy- picture of the scars in the discovery of them.
There was a guest speaker who was a doctor -a forensic pathologist- speaking confidently on what those scars were and how they are gained a human body.
With confidence, she declared when prompted “Scars like those will only ever appear on a human body due to electrocution. There is the argument that I know nothing on ghosts. This is true. I functionally know nothing on ghosts. What I do know is how human acquires scars. Specifically how those scars are kept on a dead body. With my 14 years of working solely on dead bodies and 3 years in the medical field I can guarantee with absolute certainty that those scars are both more numerous then what the camera picked up at that great distance and that they were caused by any kind of electrocution. Most commonly it’s by lightning yet, with circumstances being they are the only certainty is that they are electrocution scars.”
Ms Doctor person continued describing attributes of scars. But I was still in a slight shock.
I wasn’t taking any notes with only a single thought in my mind when did Danny get electrocuted. I didn’t tune back into normal time until commercials came on. I had more research to get to.
It took two weeks to track down Dany Fenton and research on scars. But I did. The only thing he confirmed was that he was electrocuted ad it was how he died.
In the months I was contacted quietly and secretly by classmates who asked to confirm. All of them were sombre and quite fearful. But hey I was being listened to. … Right?
By the time that school started Danny and Jazz were adopted by their godfather Mayor Masters due to their parents being negligent and more concerned with their in-home science lab both in the basement and above Fenton wors than the overall saftey of their children.
In a semi-small town, any news is still news and reporters do need to find stories and get paid.
By November, Phantom seemed to have two mentors where he trained with his powers. The Guys In White warned the public to stay away at all costs because they were ghosts. Yet no one really listened.
