Incredibilmente affascinante, incredibilmente profondo e toccante. TRANSLATION The first time I met Hanif Kureishi I did it unconsciously, in the sense that I didn't know that he was behind the script of that film, I'm talking about My Beautiful Laundrette, a film that literally exploded in 1985, made a lot of buzz and also won a lot of awards, by the way, it was the film where I saw for the first time a stunning Daniel Day-Lewis. That's it, Hanif Kureishi was the screenwriter of My Beautiful Laundrette, I think they translated it into Italian token laundry or something like that. Then, two years later, he made another film, Sammy and Rosie and Get Laid, that was also very successful, although not as much as My Beautiful Laundrette, however, it was with The Buddha of Suburbia in 1990 that I realised that I liked Hanif Kureishi very much. The Buddha of Suburbia is his first novel and that also won a lot of awards and put him on the map of young writers, because he was in his early thirties when The Buddha of Suburbia came out, I think, so it put him on the map of important writers and from there then I tried to follow what he wrote. A few years later he wrote Intimacy, which I liked, however, I vaguely remember that it was somewhat overshadowed by a scandal, because Intimacy is the story of a man who leaves his wife, and he had just left his wife in real life to get with a younger woman, well, we've seen these stories a lot of times. Why am I telling you about Hanif Kureishi? The writer in December last year was on vacation with his wife in Rome, fell and became paralysed, since December last year, he spent at first many months in a hospital in Rome, then he was transferred to a hospital in London, where he is now, and from the hospital he started to write a newsletter called Dispatches From My Hospital Bed, so messages, missives from my hospital bed. And I found out by accident, I didn't know about the accident, I found out a few months ago, and since I found out I have become a regular reader of this newsletter of his, where he tells, even with very rough details, very intimate details, what happens to him in the hospital bed and how his perspective of life has changed. Incredibly fascinating, incredibly deep and touching. When #TheLastOfTheMohicans directed by @michaelmannofficial was released in 1⃣9⃣9️⃣2️⃣, I didn't think that a piece of classic literature could be so engaging. The most commercial film that #DanielDayLewis starred in, he played frontier hero Hawkeye opposite the stunning beauty of #MadeleineStowe. It had beautiful cinematography, a great score, and the story was rooted in the 1⃣8️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ novel of #JamesFenimoreCooper. #WesStudi was a fearsome villain as the bloodthirsty Huron warrior Magua. I loved this in the cinema and it holds up well 31 years later on @netflixph. https://www.instagram.com/p/CohnKZ0PBZP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Nine (2009)
In today’s review, I find that 8 and a half might be key to creativity, if you round up. As I attempt to provide a #positive review of the 2009 musical Nine #DanielDayLewis #GiuseppeSpitaleri #MarionCotillard #PenelopeCruz #NicoleKidman #JudiDench
What is it that inspires us? That drives us to carry on? To create? That is the secret spark that responds to our world-view and compels us to capture it, distil it, and package it. Conversely, what happens when the spark has dwindled, and the infamous blank page is left taunting you, what is the course of action then? In 2009, a film recounted a creative struggle to recapture that flame and the…

Zack Snyder, known for his visionary direction in the superhero genre, revealed in a 2021 interview with #MTV News that he envisioned #DanielDayLewis as General Zod in #ManOfSteel.
While Day-Lewis ultimately did not take on the role, Snyder's collaboration with esteemed talents like #DavidGoyer and #ChristopherNolan resulted in the monumental success of "Man of Steel," further solidifying his legacy in shaping the DC cinematic universe.
