GtWAC Day 5: Underappreciated Fic

I've got two juicy ones for you guys!!

The first is Familiar Demons by the lovely @kitn-underfoot.

Amelia had a little mishap while attempting to summon a familiar.

I am absolutely feral over the snarky lil creature that is Van. His design, attitude and internal thoughts are just perfect. The way Kit writes his actions and thoughts is just so so good. The dynamic between Van and Amelia is just so packed with potential- theres the general one sided sorta-enemies that leads to such sarcastic hostile snark from Van, moments of sweet tender vulnerability, different worlds vibes, and some very interesting premises.

Also - Van's hot.

I recently found Too Small to be Afraid by @elizaditton and boy does it deserve some more hype. The premise is super cool- with a size difference integrated society. Just the world building alone piques interest easily.

But its Daniel that really got me hooked. Without spoiling too much, he is a massive sweetheart and kind soul, and it shines through in not only his actions but the dialogue and even just his inability to hide his emotions on his face. The later chapters hit particularly hard when he is a bit more direct in his interactions with Kaylin.

The slowly unfolding lore is quite addicting too! With Kaylin's background and personal hang ups slowly being revealed- along with the slight unease being built up with one of the side characters 👀

Real Rashid being a double agent is actually the least surprising reveal of season 2 like if they really said: "this man's bosses gave him a week off so that one of them could larp as a servant while using rashids name and dressing in rashids clothes (but sluttier) exclusively to fuck with a Random Journalist who came for an interview" and then followed that up with rashid acting like everything was chill cool and normal until credits I'd be ringing the cinemasins bell like quasimodo no regular person would stick around after that shit it Could Not make sense unless he had an ulterior motive

Mine by @wreckedandpolemic is so. insanely good i'm not one for dom matty but this. this is where its at mate. The way you write him is so delicious and satisfying to read i cant even begin to put into words.

YNA // YFL by @drinkurkombucha oh my GOD stop stop fucking i cant do this. The emotional rollercoaster that was this fic still haunts my dreams AND writing. I've taken so much inspiration from them and their writing style, and a lot of MPIND comes from the absolute mess i was after i read this.

The Cellophane House // Lost boys by @vinylandcoffeecollection i need to DIE its not even funny. The amount of tears i shed over this two parter warrants me being compensated for like. emotional damages the angst is so angst here its written like a true novel. Such a icon their other work is also insanely good, please go read it i beg

i cant even begin to name every single extraordinary writer i know, but everyone and anyone who puts out fics deserves to be on this list. You're all legendary and some of these fics, especially CH/YFL have truly affected me on a deeper, emotional level.
