I also want to address a more minor issue that being sprite edits.

They are still a work created by a fan like anyone else, they are a form of fanart and that means that the same respectful rules you should use for art should apply to them. They take just as much time as any work of art does and so editors should still be given the same respect and have their boundaries still accepted just as much as any other artist.

If the creator doesn't want them being used do not use them.

If they are allowed to be used, give credit.

If the creator doesn't want the edit reposted to do not repost it.

And in the case of fangans:

If the dev does not want edits made of their sprites do not make edits of their sprites.

If a dev specifically says to not trace, reference or use their sprites as inspiration, Do not do so.

Be respectful and do the bare minimum by respecting sprite editors wishes.

I wanted to do a "more complicated sprite edit" just to try my hand at it. I still don't offer it, but gonna practice more and maybe I'll have enough confidence to go complex. This was intended to be a Gambler!Himiko but I saw this Reddit post by WaifuFree and thought "why don't I do that" because I enjoy silly posts and being inspired by them lMAO.

I ramble more under the cut.

I learned I don't know how to do shading whatsoever and I also cannot draw, but I will use references like a lifeline to figure out how to draw. I ain't quitting though. I also cannot let go of the checker board aesthetic.

For realsies though next post is prob gonna be a moodboard for gambler!Himiko to build up this acc.
