18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
tags: @illiana-mystery
warnings: swearing, Vietnam War, ableism
AN: I'm going to try to write post-war Dan. Please please please let me know if I do something wrong and how I can do this better. If I screw this up, LET ME KNOW. I want to do this right and can't do that unless someone lets me know I fucked up and what I can do better.
When I had gotten the letter that Dan was coming home, I had been ecstatic. They hadn't told me what happened to him or why he was getting a medical discharge. It honestly didn't matter that much to me since he had been preparing me to move on when I got the letter. The letter that was supposed to tell me he had been killed in action. Instead I got a letter that said he was wounded in action and would be at the evac hospital in Saigon before coming home. He had written me one letter, letting me know that he wasn't the same man who had gone off to war and if I wasn't there to meet him he would understand. As I scanned the men getting off the plane, I couldn't help but think how wrong he was.
"Yeah yeah yeah." I turned when I heard Dan's voice to see him waving off a flight attendant who was saluting him. "You can go now. Thanks."
"We're supposed to wait with you for whoever..." the attendant tried again.
“ain’t nobody coming for me. I’m fine on my own.” Dan cut them off. He angrily glared at the attendant until they left. That was when I realized he was in a wheelchair. Dan had reached down to wheel himself away when he looked up. I smiled at him and waved.
“hi Dan.” I said. He stared at me in shock.
“(Y/N).” He breathed out. Dan settled his hands in his lap as I walked over. I sat down next to him and reached over to take his hand. He pulled them out of my reach and I nodded. “You…you shouldn’t have come. I told you…”
“you weren’t the same man that had left. Yeah I know that.” I finished. “You also gave me a choice. You said if I wasn’t here you’d understand. But I am here. I’m not leaving you. You’re still Dan Taylor to me.” Dan frowned at me before slowly reaching over and taking my hand.
“The dumbass fucked with my destiny.” Dan muttered. He wouldn’t meet my eye and I frowned. “Private Gump. Long story.” He shook his head and squeezed my hand. “I am glad you’re here. I just…”
“yeah. I get it.” I leaned over and kissed his cheek. “But let’s get out of here yeah?” Dan nodded as he gave me a small smile. “Is it alright if I…?” I trailed off and motioned to the wheelchair. Dan sighed and nodded.
“Yeah.” He muttered. “I’ll figure it out eventually but go ahead. It’ll be faster anyway. Getting onto and off the plane…”
“if it’s going to piss me off, don’t.” I said. Dan looked at me over his shoulder as I started to push him through the airport.
“Huh.” He huffed and turned back around. “Anyway… I have physical therapy at the VA in a couple days. Would you…”
“I can drive you there if you want.” I said. “You’ll have to get me directions though. I didn’t even know there was one close by.”
“Neither did I.” Dan said. “I shouldn’t…” someone cut in front of us and turned to flip Dan off as he tripped. I flipped him back off at the same time Dan did. “Can’t you see I’m walking here?” Dan scoffed. “Asshole.”
“I swear people get worse and worse all the time.” I muttered, realizing this was going to become common place. I would be damned if Dan got used to it. “So this private Gump, why are you so pissed off at him?”
“you mean aside from saving my life?” Dan shot back. I gently pushed his head and he turned to look at me in surprise. “Alright. Alright. There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s a good kid. He was just going what his friend was telling him to do anyway. Run away.” Dan paused for a second. “And trying not to be separated from the other private he came in with. He kept going to back to find him and…” Dan hung his head. “Gump found everyone else and private blue last. He’s too good a person to leave anyone to die.”
“I’ll have to thank this private Gump.” I said. Leaning forward, I pressed a kiss to the top of Dan’s head. “He got you back to me.” Dan reached up and squeezed my hand.
“Maybe one day.” Dan assured me. “I already know you’ll get along with him. Probably too well.”
“You going to be alright outside while I go get the car?” I asked Dan as we grabbed his bag.
“yeah.” Dan said, pulling the bag into his lap. “You know me, I can give anyone a piece of my mind.” I nodded and got him situated by the entrance while I went to grab the car.
“I’ll be right back.” I promised and kissed his cheek. Dan cupped my cheek before smiling at me.
“thank you.” He whispered, drawing my lips to his. I hummed against his lips and pulled back. I smiled at him before running off to grab the car. When I pulled back up, Dan was screaming at a random guy who was standing awful close to him.
“what the fuck do you think you’re doing? Blocking the fucking door!” The guy yelled. Dan flipped him off.
“fuck you asshole!” Dan yelled back. “Not like I’ve got much space to move for your sorry ass.” I raised an eyebrow and got out of the car.
“then let someone move you! Instead of screaming at them!” Dan made as if he was going to lunge at the guy. He jumped back and dan started laughing.
“I’m a fucking vet fuckwad.” Dan growled. “If you or anyone else touches me or this car, then you have to fuck with me.” I stepped up and put a hand on dans shoulder.
“and me.” I added. The guy looked up at me.
“You gonna let him talk to me like that?” He asked. I nodded.
“yeah. I am. Like he said. He’s a veteran. Just got back in country.” I said with a shrug. “He has a right to stand up for himself. In fact he fought for that right. So I’m gonna let him do that.”
“stand up.” The guy laughed. “That’s rich.” My face fell and I looked at Dan. He motioned towards the guy with both hands.
“I’ve been dealing with this since you left.” He explained. I nodded.
“I mean I knew people were gonna be assholes but I mean…” I shook my head.
“Hey he’s the asshole. Vietnamese raping, baby killer. You deserve…” he didn’t finish his sentence when I hit him.
“shut your fucking mouth.” I hissed. “You have no idea what’s going on over there. So keep your fucking mouth shut.” The guy held his cheek and there was a cheer that went up. I blushed as I turned back towards Dan. “Uh…” I looked around and smiled nervously. “Wanna go before the cops show up?” Dan nodded with a laugh.
“yeah.” He said. “Let’s go you little spitfire.” I blushed deeper as I pushed him to the car and stood back while he got himself into the passenger seat. I folded up his chair and put it in the trunk before getting in and driving off.

idk of this makes sense to anyone else but would've, could've, should've is such a sister daniel song in my brain and someday i'll get around to writing that fic
like what do you mean 'if you'd never looked my way, i would've stayed on my knees, and I damn sure never would've danced with the devil at nineteen' no comment
'if you never touched me, i would've gone along with the righteous' but how are we supposed to believe in something bigger than ourselves when the feeling of your hand in mine makes me feel closer to heaven than a lifetime of prayers
'YOU'RE A CRISIS OF MY FAITH'
'i miss who I used to be, the tomb won't close' and 'if clarity's in death, then why won't this die?' with the idea of the tomb/death as the closet but also the consequence of being out of it at the same time
and like 'give me back my girlhood it was mine first' but not in a loss of innocence you made me grow up too fast way but in a i learned to be a girl by your side and i don't know how to perform gender when i'm not playing opposite you.

My baby's fit like a daydream
Walking with his head down
I'm the one he's walking to
(Call it what you want, call it what you want, call it)
So call it what you want, yeah
Call it what you want to
My baby's fly like a jet stream
High above the whole scene
Loves me like I'm brand new
(Call it what you want, call it what you want, call it)
So call it what you want, yeah
Call it what you want to

Yo, I've seen your book rec posts on and off for a while, and I was wondering if you could (if you have time ^.^ if not, that's cool too) throw up a list of your favorite lgbt/neurodivergent/unique protagonist books? I don't think I've ever read a book outside of fanfiction where the lead/s weren't just some form of 'normal' or straight or whatever. Also, since you're one of my favorite authors I feel like I'd be more inclined to give one of them a go lol ^.^'
There are an increasing number of diverse books out there!
Here are some of my personal favourites in no particular order, by which I mean I have rated them 4 stars (I really liked it) or 5 stars (it was amazing) and then curated the list some more on top of that. E.g. I might have thought it was amazing at the time, but if I can't tell you anything that happened in the story years after reading it, it's not on the list. That doesn't mean it's not worth reading, just that I have a bad memory so if I remember it definitely did something right!)
You can find more books I've read on my Goodreads. There are books that fit what you've asked for on there, it just doesn't fit my personal curated favourites list!
LGBTQ books
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (m/m)
If We Were Villains by M.L Rio (m/m)
Girls Made of Snow and Glass and Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (f/f + ace)
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado (f/f - non fiction)
Salt Slow by Julia Armfield (f/f)
Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin (m/m)
Nightwood by Djuna Barnes (f/f - though be warned, this is a weird one! Rated highly more because I can't get it out of my head than that I liked it)
Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith by Sarah Waters (f/f)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Peter Darling by Austin Chant (m/m, trans)
The Binding by Bridget Collins (m/m)
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J Klune (m/m)
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth (f/f)
The Greenhollow duology by Emily Tesh (m/m)
These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever (m/m)
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (f/f)
(Obligatory read MY BOOK The God Key (m/m) here!) Obviously, this is my favourite ;)
Unique/Interesting protagonists:
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells
Middlegame by Seanan McGuire (Her Wayward Children series is also great and has a lot of LGBTQ rep!)
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (MC has Asperger's)
A Spindle Splintered by Alix.E. Harrow (terminally ill MC, also f/f)
Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels
House of Leaves by Mark.Z. Danielewski
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon (Autistic MC)
Disfigured: On Fairytales, Disability and Making Space by Amanda Leduc (nonfiction)

Headcanons for Modern Stellmine/Caether AU
STELLMINE
Stelle has so many Raccoon plushies that Lumine physically cannot fit on the bed
Stelle and Lumine do double-dates with March and Robin
Stelle is a professional baseball player for the ‘astral express’ and wears the number 69 for the memes
Lumine and Furina are best friends and it pisses Stelle off whenever they spend more time together than with her
Lumine not only tolerates Himeko’s coffee but actively enjoys it
Stelle works as a barista when she’s not playing baseball
Lumine has a vile hate for TikTok and prefers YouTube Shorts.
Lumine prefers stellar jades over primogems because they’re easier to get.
Stelle didn’t realize she and Lumine were together until after Lumine proposed to her
Lumine introduced Silver Wolf to Ei and now they’re best friends
Lumine is an active member of the ‘Stellaron Hunters’ YouTube channel
Stelle is a huge fan of Hatsune Miku, and actively has Rabbit Hole on repeat (much to the mortification of Lumine, who understands Japanese)
Lumine prefers Teto Kasane, and will randomly scream the Hatsune Miku parts of Mesmerizer at Stelle whenever she plays Rabbit Hole.
Stelle and Paimon had an eating competition. Neither won, and they made Lumine pay for the food.
Lumine has a Minecraft SMP called ‘Teyvat Blondes’ and it’s her, Lyney, and Klee against the rest of the server
Stelle is a Swiftie and really likes Taylor Swift’s music, even though she doesn’t actually know what she looks like
CAETHER
Caelus and Aether constantly tease each other about being the ‘bad MC’ of their games.
Aether has to force Caelus to get a haircut, otherwise he’ll just let it grow out
Both tried to propose at the same time and then decided not to get married after all
Caelus will randomly steal Dan Heng’s blankets and give them as gifts to Aether
Aether has invited Dr. Ratio and Adventurine on a double date before but they all wound up going to a casino instead.
Caelus is a professional musician and tap dancer
Aether streams himself being a bully in CoD and LoL.
Caelus is positively convinced that Kaeya is a furry
Both are subscribed to The Click
They have an albino cat named Chuckles
Caelus prefers DC and Aether prefers Marvel
They play each other’s games; Sethos is Caelus’s favorite, and Sampo is Aether’s favorite.
Aether always refers to Blade as Yingxing and Caelus always refers to Wanderer as Scaramouche. In his Genshin game, Caelus named Wanderer ‘WorseBlade’.
Caelus bought Wanderer a trans flag for his birthday, a lesbian pride flag for Ei, a pansexual pride flag for Yae Miko, and an Aroace Pride flag for the Raiden Shogun.
BOTH
they collectively hate Qiqi and Yanqing
They’re all roomates
Whenever they meet a homophobic person they just pretend to be straight (I.e. Stelle & Aether, Caelus & Lumine) and then laugh about it behind their backs later
Caether teases Stellmine for liking vocaloids and Stellmine reminds them that Teto is not a vocaloid
Paimon is emergency food
All of them secretly write ship fanfiction about Kafka and Himeko
They’re all good friends with Boothill.

Rules, Guidelines, etc.:
[Used to be: ronaldrx]
I'm a hobby writer and mostly write (x Reader) FanFictions and Headcanons. But I am also working on my original story whenever I can, so that I’ll hopefully publish it as an actual book someday. My Ao3.
Here’s a link to my Ko-Fi, in case you want to support me financially. It would mean a lot to me! (Obviously no obligation whatsoever! You never have to pay for anything on my blog, it’s merely an option for donations.)

Lastly, I would like to add things I will NOT write (about):
Sexual NSFW fics/headcanons (I used to write those as you can see in my Masterlists, but I have my reasons for not writing them anymore. Any hints at sexual topics are fine).
Anything related to death as the main subject (this includes deadly diseases, anything fatal, really, etc.).
Anything that romanticizes Mental Illness (my Vent Fics about my own disorders obviously do not romanticize any of it and I do not stand for that).
(Recreational) Drug Use
Extreme Possessive Behaviour and/or Jealousy
Yandere
If you have something you would like me to write for, but you do not see it listed anywhere, please ask me before requesting it, so we can talk about it. I hope you enjoy yourself on my blog and have a good time!
My Asks and DMs are always open for any questions or simply to talk!

as much as i love how much ppl love jay and jon, i be cringing when they holler “they should do what billy and teddy did!” like cousins, we have so much room to have fun with jon and jay, don’t marry em off so quickly 😭😭😭 three cheating arcs and at least four love triangles waiting to happen, ok? once we get timmy taylor off their writing staff, we can finally bring back imra and ash to add fuel to the fire. inshallah joe casey and dan mcdaid will see the value in writing a game of thrones arc (eventually) and we will get our jon + lor = mon arc. pls don’t disregard the hundred potential storyarcs jon has festering in the writing room just bc you’re scared they’re gonna revert him back to a hetero. guarantee you nobody will be buying any books if he does. the deage crowd is being institutionalized. damijons live in fanfiction and fanart. gayboy!jon and jayjon are here to stay. have faith. read bendis losh and kneel before zod.

- Roger Taylor.

18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
warnings: swearing
AN: so while I figure out how to write post-war dan, I’m going to write pre-war Dan. Enjoy.
I pushed the door open and balanced the tray as I brought it out to the backyard. Dan looked up and darted to help me, leaving his stepfather to watch the grill.
“you should have told me you needed help.” He chided as he took the tray from me.
”I’ve got it Dan. I can balance a tray.” I laughed. He shook his head before leaning over to kiss my cheek. Turning back towards the grill, he took over the buns and condiments. “Dumbass.” I shook my head. His mom laughed from over by the picnic bench.
“Apparently I did raise him right.” she joked. I nodded as I went to sit down next to her.
“I’ll say you did. A proper gentleman.” Dan looked over at me and winked. “When he wants to be.” His stepfather and Dan continued to man the grill while his mom and I caught up. Soon enough, Dan put a plate with a burger down in front of me.
“Made just how you like it.” He said with a kiss to my cheek. Sitting down next to me with his own, Dan waited until his stepdad did the same before eating. “So ma, anything in particular you wanna see while you’re up here?”
“the fireworks mainly.” She answered. I nodded.
“you’ll be able to see them from back here. Last pretty much the whole week with the neighbors we got.” I shared a knowing smile with Dan.
“they get a little overzealous.” He agreed. “So you’ll see the biggest display you ever have.” His stepdad snorted.
“you two ever set any off?” Dan shook his head.
“nah.” Dan frowned. “There’s enough going on around here. We have other ways of celebrating the fourth.”
“Got some smoke bombs though.” I said with a smile. “But that’s about as far as we’ll go.” Dan nodded as he wrapped an arm around me.
“We brought some sparklers and some confetti things. Weren’t too sure what you were doing.” His mom said. Dan nodded. It got quiet all of a sudden. “When do you ship out?” My gaze drifted down to my plate and put my hand on dans leg.
“In a few weeks.” Dan said softly, gaze locked on me. “Boot camp at Pendleton and then off to vietnam in about a month or so. Least that’s what they say.” I leaned into Dan as he pulled me fully into a hug. He forced my head onto his shoulder and pressed a kiss to my temple.
“You going to live on base?” Dans stepdad asked. I shook my head.
“Won’t let me.” I shrugged. Dan kissed my head again. “It’s alright though. We can write each other.” His parents shared a look.
“we can stay…” his mom started. I shook my head.
“it’s fine.” I waved her off. “We’ll figure it out.” Dan nodded as he kissed me. I shared a look with his mom and shook my head again.
“to coming home safe.” His stepdad said as he held up his soda can. Dan, his mom and I half heartedly cheered with him before Dan took the dishes into the house. I followed him.
“Dan…” I said. He turned towards me and held his arms open.
“it’s going to be ok.” He whispered as he hugged me. “It’s going to be ok.”

I have an idea for a fanfiction
Maybe one where Ashlyn and Taylor talk (which could happen during the last episode that came out) where Ash feels guilty for what happened and thinks that Taylor blames her, but Taylor doesn't think that way about her and tries to calm her down (apparently Ashlyn is capable of having a panic attack or starting to hyperventilate when she gets desperate)
It would be interesting...
Yeah, seeing Ashlyn so overwhelmed with how much she had been holding back--and bawling her eyes out of it was. Something to me. I think Tyler helped her out a lot, but I think she still feels pretty bad, especially considering some of what we saw in episode 58.
I'm saying this takes place kind of between them all leaving the hospital/after Tyler wakes up and is in his hospital bed and before everyone actually gets to Jessica and Daniel's place; probably around 5am or 6am? They probably tried to stay at the hospital as long as possible, though.
Words: 858
Ashlyn clicked her seat belt to release it, shifting as it wound back up and fell into its original place. She watched her parents climb out of the car first—both of them talking quietly, stretching their backs as the cool night’s air hit them.
“Are you two coming?” Mike asked, resting his arm on the top of the car. He leaned in, making eye contact first with Ashlyn, and then Taylor. “It’s fine if you need a minute, but I want to let Dan and Jess know we’re here.”
Ashlyn barely nodded, her throat tightening around the sob threatening to climb out once again. “We’re good—we might. Need a few minutes, though.”
Taylor, hands clenching around the corner of her seat, glanced over at Ashlyn without turning her head. It took everything in her to hold herself still, to keep from sobbing. She was used to being the one to comfort others, but now, she couldn’t even comfort herself. She could only do her best to swallow her emotions as best she could.
“Take as much time as you need. Just turn off the car and bring the keys when you come in, alright?” Emma nodded, closing her door. “We’ll let everyone else know where you two are—”
“But text us if you need something. Anything. Alright?”
“We will. Thanks…” Ashlyn leaned back further in her seat as Mike closed the door; she watched the two of them walk to the front door, wait for it to open, and then disappear into the cold, practically white light emanating from inside.
The two stayed quiet for a moment, the overhead lights fading out and eventually dimming entirely to leave them in the dark. Once the two had settled into the silence, Ashlyn called out. “Taylor…?”
When she raised her head to meet Ashlyn’s eyes, Ashlyn looked away; she felt her throat tighten again at the barely-visible sight of tears brimming the corners of Taylor’s eyes, how her mouth struggled to stay in a tight line, trying not to waver with another round of tears.
How would you say this? Ashlyn’s fingertips dug into the sleeve of her jacket, her arms tightening around herself. Though the jeep wasn’t cold, she couldn’t help but shiver just a little bit. Ever since we met, you’ve been the one reassuring everyone. Comforting them. But how do I even start to say I’m sorry to you? How do I even start to help you here?
She knew what she could offer in the phantom dimension; she could make plans, she could try to protect them—though, it wasn’t like she’s had the best track record with that so far, she could… Do something. More than what she knew how to do here.
“I’m sorry.” Ashlyn’s voice, as strangled as it was, found it’s way out. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to say,” She held her sleeve more tightly with one hand, the other pushing up her cheek to wipe the fresh tears onto her sleeve before her fingers found themselves tangled in her frazzled, somehow-still-braided hair. “If I turned the jeep around, we all would have—I didn’t want to lose Tyler, I didn’t want anything to happen to any of you, I—you have every right to blame me, and—”
“Ash,” Taylor’s voice, trembling just as much as her hand that now held onto part of Ashlyn’s palm and her wrist, caused Ashlyn’s wide eyes to snap back to meet hers. “I don’t blame you.”
She sounds so hoarse. Ashlyn silently added, her rapid breathing now frozen as she slowly squeezed her fingers against Taylor’s hand. I shouldn’t be bothering you with this. You shouldn't be comforting me. What am I doing?
She continued, her voice wavering as she slowly pulled Ashlyn’s hand further away from her hair and Ashlyn closer, into a light hug. “I know. I know you didn’t want anything to happen to us. Any of us…” She left enough room in the hug for Ashlyn to move away—if she wanted to, if she felt trapped or overwhelmed—but slowly buried her face in her shoulder.
She was holding it together as much as she could.
Both of them were.
Ashlyn nodded, mimicking Taylor’s action and burying her face in her white sweatshirt as she moved both of her own arms around her. She held onto her a little more tightly than Taylor had initially held onto her, her fingers clutching the back of her shirt.
“I’m here for you.” Ashlyn whispered, feeling Taylor shiver against her. She knew that she was trembling, too. “I’m here…”
“Here for you, too.” Taylor murmured, tightening her arms around Ashlyn. She sniffled, pressing her face harder against her shoulder.
Ashlyn squeezed her arms around Taylor briefly, something she had seen her do with Logan, Ben, Tyler, and Aiden countless times before, and exhaled shakily. “Yeah, I know. Don’t worry about me, though. Just. We’ve all got you…”
She could feel Taylor’s stomach tense, her arms tightening more around Ashlyn as she fought back her tears. “Th. Thanks.” Taylor mumbled, a choked-back sob following after. “Thanks, Ash…”

"Easy" me rappelle "Right where you left me" de Taylor Swift.
Coucou ❤
