Damian: What? Why?
Raven: Didn't you hear what that elegant lady said? She said you're more handsome in person than in photos.
Raven: That makes me furious. How can you go around stealing hearts just for existing? You're unnecessarily handsome.
Damian: And that's why you're angry?

Water Colour Eyes
Chapter 01
Y Batfam x Gn Reader
Featuring: platonic Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne (no Jason in this chapter)
2.3k words
Im very new to tumblr and was recently inspired by @acid-ixx to try writing my own story, please go easy on me but any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. (Im still trying to figure out how this app works but I know the basics). The only knowledge I have of working in a restaurant is bistro huddy.
Rubbing your temples you could just feel the headache forming. It was going to be one of those shifts, the kind that drags on and on. Standing behind the hostess stand shuffling through the reservation book scanning for anything out of the ordinary. Flipping through the pages only pausing once you spot his name âBruce Wayneâ. That name became a fixture in the book, always booking at 6:30 and specifically requesting you as his server. Within the past 2 months heâs definitely become your regular, and although he is technically your only regular, he just has a certain quality that sets him apart from your co-workers regulars. Sure heâs a pleasure to have as a customer, always punctual, kind, and very generous with the tips. Thereâs just something you canât quite place your finger on, he tends to get a little personal. He started calling you by your first name, and always asked you about your life. But youâve always chalked it up to him being a ditzy guy whoâs never been told no. Even if he carries himself with a certain air, alluding that he knows much more than he lets on. it seems like no one else questions it, so why should you? Regardless, his tips were good enough to let him call you by your name and ask you about your personal life.
La Vie Royale was always busy on Fridays. Swarming with creeps who always stared too long, and buzzing with heiresses who always had something to complain about. For being Gothams richest they almost never tipped well, and when they did it was some lonely wealthy old weirdo on a date with their sugar baby. Co-workers werenât much help either, specifically the superiors always criticizing and critiquing never bothering to hide the contempt in their voices when speaking. The Kitchen was like another world, one you werenât welcome in. The other servers stayed in their lane, and always kept to each other. Thatâs what itâs like for every newbie who somehow snatches Gothams richest billionaire for a regular. The only saving grace was the hostesses who, like you, were at the bottom of the La Vie Royale food chain.
Glancing at the clock reading 5:47, plenty of time to mentally prepare for dealing with Albertine while you serve the playboy billionaire. Albertine was possibly the worst manager for the night, sheâd always get so on edge when sheâd find out he was dining here for the evening. Glancing over and you can see her talking to one of the other servers, eyes locked on you. God, you could just feel that headache getting worse, and after a long day of classes you pray heâd be a no show for once. Wishful thinking though, the best you can hope for is getting through this shift without a lecture. Rather than contemplating how dreadful this shift will be at the hostess stand, you might as well look busy and get a head start on your side work.
Once the minute hand hit 30 like clock work, Bruce Wayne walked in. Smiling at the familiar face of the regular, this time he wasnât alone. Three young men walked in right after. Raising an eyebrow, they were clearly in the same party. Why didnât his assistant say heâd have guests when they booked him the reservation? Looking more closely at the boys itâs clear they also have that odd quality in common with Mr Wayne. One looked barely out of high school, and had been scrolling on his phone with a smirk on his face. The youngest, likely in middle school, had an aura that demanded a respect unfit for his age. The oldest, probably in his mid twenties, seemed to have a natural charm to him. You had always known Wayne had his fair share of children, he talked about them often although you could never put a name to a face.
âWow Mr Wayne, you finally brought some guests with you todayâ you tease as you greet the group and check them in for their reservation. you hear a chuckle and glance up to see Bruceâs smile, itâs warm and reaches his eyes. âWell I figured it was about time I took my kids out with meâ. Giving a polite nod and smiling as he introduces his kids. âI see, your table will ready in a few minutes, we didnât expect you to bring any guests tonightâ Mr Wayne huffs eyeing the oldest âI apologize it was a last minute change in plans, Dick was visiting and insisted on going outâ The oldest Dick chimes in âyouâll still be able to fit us in right?â His voice is calm, like he knows the answer and just wants you to hear you talk. â Iâm sure we can, Iâll just have to go clear the tableâ eyes glued to the reservation book, moving some other reservations around to accommodate the new change. Something a restaurant as refined as La Vie Royale would never do, although Albertine and every other superior insisted that Mr Wayne be accommodated in any way possible. He brought good press, and according to a rumour amongst the staff he even considered buying it a while back. Giving the group a polite nod as you rush off, to clear the other tables. Missing the brief dejected look on the oldest boy's face.
Albertine noticing the Wayne family standing alone makes a beeline towards them. âHave you been helped yet?â She asks in a voice the family could only describe as sickly sweet. âYes our server is just clearing the tableâ Timâs voice monotone, not even bothering to glance up from his phone. Albertine pauses, eyes widening for a split second then back to the false smile âI seeâ she says as if contemplating something before walking away, sending a sharp glare in your direction as she does. The interaction not going unnoticed by the Wayneâs. âyou will be at fault if they get reprimandedâ Damian pipes up glaring at Tim. Staring down at the younger Wayne, âsheâll find something to get mad at tonight no matter whatâ he argues back, knoe he doesnât have the best excuse. A small feeling of guilt starts to bubble in his chest. Tim realized his slip up too late. It's likely youâll get yelled at for keeping such âprestigious guests waitingâ once theyâve finished with their meal. Glancing at Dickâs and Bruceâs faces, itâs clear theyâre planning ways to ease the consequences youâll likely face later tonight. Tim glances back down to Damian only to find his glare still present.
âThank you for your patienceâ your voice pulls them out of their trance, calming down the rising tension. It reminds them of why they came tonight, to see you. Oblivious to their true intentions you smile, grabbing the menus âfollow meâ. As you lead them to their table Bruce and Tim make note of how many others are sitting in your section for the night, some of them they recognize from galas others are unimportant. however your section is completely full. Finally reaching their table, it isnât Bruceâs normal table much to his disdain; he doesn't have the vantage point to subtly watch over you. Although one thing he can see from his seat is that horrid woman glaring at you, waiting for the chance to take you away from them only just to scold you. After dropping off the menus and giving a rundown of the night's specials, you leave telling them youâll be back in a few minutes for their orders. As you walk away Bruce notices your manager snapping with her hands and glaring at you with that permanent scowl on her face. She motions for you to follow her to the back.
After witnessing that interaction the boys are only left to imagine what sheâs yelling at you about. Most of the family members are able to hide their contempt after seeing your manager's rude behaviour, the witchâs actions will likely dictate the mood for the rest of the night. Dick is the only one visibly upset, BlĂŒdhaven has been so chaotic recently getting to see you tonight had been the only thing that kept him from falling apart. Now because that wicked witch of the waste is on some power trip, whatever lecture sheâs giving you right now will weigh on you the whole night, leaving you to be even more reserved than you already are. How is he supposed to be a good brother to you if you don't let him in?,The rest of the family comes to a similar conclusion. It's clear that this job environment is an unhealthy one, they would rather you work somewhere else, or better yet not at all. The only reason theyâve allowed you to work here for so long is because itâs the most practical way to grow closer to you. Once theyâre further along with the plan, you wonât ever have to step foot in this place again.
âSorry about the waitâ your voice soft, eyes not meeting theirs, face carrying a faint frustration. their prediction clearly came to fruition, much to the familyâs displeasure. âWhat can I get yâall to drinkâ you smile, attempting to remain composed as you take their orders. A quality of yours the family admired, although they often wished youâd take your mask off and allow yourself to be vulnerable around them. But for now theyâre your guests, not your family. Writing down their order smiling the same forced smile âperfect Iâll be right back with thoseâ once again walking away. âWhy canât that women understand theyâre not meant to handle that much pressure, itâs absurd how she expects them to perform optimally nowâ Damian voices his opinion, his expression unreadable to most but itâs evident to the family heâs unbelievably angry at just how much you let that women affect you. âWhy canât you just fire her, it would make our baby bird's life much easierâ Dick who is also in aggrence, his protectiveness evident in his voice. Dickâs question goes unanswered. Truthfully even if some of the family tries to dĂ©nie it, the reason they kept all these horrible coworkers around you was selfish. They wanted to push you to your limits, before they swooped in to save you.
3 minutes is the standard time for a table to wait for drinks. However with the Waynes your managers instilled into the whole staff that they never wait for a table, 1 minute 50 seconds is their standard for drinks and 25 minutes for food. With Albertine breathing down your neck, having 4 other tables to attend too, and a pounding headache. thereâs not much keeping you from breaking down. The only thing you want right now is your bed, but that wonât happen for at least another 4 hours depending on when you're cut. At least Roa clocks in at 7:00, which is in roughly 10 minutes. Finishing off the drinks with Bruceâs red wine, you push down your stress and prepare to head over. âHere you goâ you place everyoneâs respective drinks in front of them. âIs everyone ready to orderâ hand instivily reaching for your notebook, but remembering what Albertine told you in the back âif you want to look somewhat professional at least memorize their orders, no notepadâ you stop yourself, and pray they donât order anything too complicated. âIâll have the 8oz steak, medium rareâ Burceâs order wouldnât be a problem, he always got the same thing. âCan I get the Coq au vinâ the oldest boy orders, who youâre pretty sure is dick. Tim goes next âIâll get the boeuf bourguignonâ, he has a satisfied smirk, probably because he has the best pronunciation so far. âmay I have the ratatouilleâ The youngest orders, clearly annoyed by his brotherâs antics. âPerfect Iâll go ring those inâ, mumbling their orders to yourself as you ring them in, thankful they didnât ask for any accommodations or changes you should be able to remember them just fine.
âThey wonât make a mistake will they?â Dick asks, stressed at the fact they didnât grab their notebook. âThey shouldnât, although if you ordered what you originally wanted they definitely would haveâ Bruceâs answerâs straight to the point. Although thereâs a subtle praise in his wording, appreciating how they eased your workload. âItâs despicable just how much they're overworking them hereâ Damian's scowl seems to be permanent as he watches you attend to other tables, he knows itâs your job but theyâre the Waynes they should be the only table you attend to tonight. That good for nothing manager who cares far too much about their opinion canât even get that one thing right. âYou got that right, and with how the nightâs going I bet theyâll only check on us two times, three if weâre luckyâ Timâs voice pissâs Damian off even more, even if it is in agreement. âYou donât actually mean thatâ Dick pipes in,his voice radiating a sense of distress. âOf course I do, look at them. barely keeping it togetherâ Tim points out. Itâs true the tension in your shoulders is evident and your mask is already slipping, the worst part thereâs almost nothing they can do besides tip you. Although even that doesnât feel like enough. The serverâs here tip out not only to the hostesses and busboys but also to the back, additionally you all have to pool your tips and split them evenly amongst the staff. This fact does nothing but motivate the Waynes to get you out of here as soon as possible.
23 minutes tick by, as the Wayne family watches you talk to other customers, complete your side work, and narrowly avoid another scolding from that damn manager. It bothers them that Tim was right, accepting that tonight is just an evening of observing you rather than growing slightly closer. It's moments like these that makes Bruce wish his name wasnât as influential as it is. Thankfully you approach them once again with their meals. Although, the stress on your face is more prominent than earlier, the smile is even more forced, with the way you carry yourself youâre clearly being pushed to the limits. âHere you all goâ even your voice sounds so much more tired, compared to when you were greeting them. At least you got their order right, not that any of them would say anything if you didnât. âAnything else I can grab you?â You ask, so considerate they really should be the ones taking care of you, but all in due time. âI believe weâll be alrightâ Bruce replies, not wanting you to strain yourself even more.
Only approaching them once as they ate, only to ask them if everything was to their liking. They knew it was protocol to ask each table that question, but they still wished youâd approach them, and initiate a conversation about anything but the food. As they ate in silence itâs clear tonight they didnât make as much progress as theyâd like. Maybe Bruce should have kept these outings to himself for a little longer. Or perhaps they should go on a day Jacques is the manager, he tends to be somewhat more lenient. Whatever the case may be this evening has been bittersweet for the entire family, and theyâll plan accordingly for next week to make up for the lost progress. Because thatâs what family does for each other, they go above and beyond.

Day 14: Blue Christmas
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Reader
Warnings: bits of the angst, but lots of fluff there at the end.
A/N: Welcome to day 14! We are counting down the day! I hope you all have a great weekend! Header by me and divider by @cafekitsune
Masterlist
The halls were quiet, too quiet. It was almost Christmas, and you were alone in Wayne Manor.
The kids were all grown, and gone. Building lives on their own, creating their own identities outside of Bruce Wayne and the Batman. Well, all of them except maybe Damian. But he was well on his way to becoming a man, getting taller and taller each day as he looked more like his father complimented by his mother's features.
Bruce was across the world, and took Damian with him. Alfred had gone back to London to visit family, leaving you the sole inhabitant of the extensive manor.
There were times you didn't mind being alone, but you could feel it. The lingering cold that came with loneliness. In all your years with Bruce, there were only ever a few times you were truly alone.
But each time, he was never gone this long. It had been almost a week, and you missed him so much you had to convince yourself not to beg him to come home. The world needed him, the Justice League needed him-- but so did you.
No matter what you did, it couldn't chase away that feeling. Not even listening to Christmas music was working. Every time you played some, Blue Christmas and other about being with loved ones for the holiday played and it only made your mood worse.
At this point, it really was going to be a blue Christmas.
You were sitting on the couch, by the fire trying to find some comfort when your phone began to ring. Your heart lightened seeing Bruce's name appear on screen.
Picking it up, you saw he was requesting a video chat.
Answering the phone, you put on a smile seeing the love of your life looking back at you. He was still wearing the suit, but his cowl was off and his hair hung in his face as he smiled back.
"Hey, sweetheart."
"Hey yourself."
Bruce's face softened just a bit, only for it to grow concerned.
"What's wrong?"
"Why would anything be wrong?" You shrugged, ignoring the nagging feeling.
Bruce let out a sigh and cocked his head to the side, as Damian poked his head into view.
"Do I need to make my presence known to anyone in Gotham who dares to cause issues?"
You laughed, Damian's comment filling your heart. Even when they weren't near you knew they still loved you.
"No Dami, I promise everything's okay. Just missing my boys, I guess. This manor is too big for just one person."
"Well, surely Alfred is there too--"
You cut Bruce off. "He already left to visit his mother, he wont be back until the twenty-second."
The silence on the other end of the phone made you a little nervous.
"So, you mean you're all alone in Wayne Manor?"
If you hadn't known Bruce for so long, his question would have seemed normal. You could already see him beating himself up because he's left you alone for so long.
"Bruce, I promise I'm fine. I have the fire going, and I was about to start a new book."
You had to keep in the giggles watching Damian and Bruce both hum the same way. When the two of them hummed like this, you knew they were thinking.
"Boys, don't do anything drastic."
Damian's expression morphed into one you knew all too well. He was already up to something. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
You let out a sigh. Before anyone could answer, you were interrupted by a loud beeping behind them.
"You have to go."
Bruce gave you a sad nod. "I'm sorry, my love."
You shrugged, "It's alright, Bruce. It'll just be more stories to tell me when you get home."
The three of you promptly said your goodbyes and hung up. You were once again, alone. Grabbing that book you said you were going to start, you opened to the first page.
You were barely through the second chapter when a body plopped itself next to you on the couch and the other sat on the ground by your feet.
If you didn't see the flash of blue followed by red, you would've grabbed the fire poker and done some damage. But you knew who it was.
Glancing out the corner of your eye, you watched as Dick made himself comfortable curled into your side with his head on your lap like he did when he was a kid.
Jason was at your feet, reading a book of his own mirroring the days when he too was young and so full of joy.
"So, how long ago did he call you."
"Right after he got off the phone with you. Tim is picking up Cass and Duke before they make their way over."
You sighed. "I knew he was going to do something like this, I told him I was fine."
Jason tilted his head up at you. "Don't you tell us frequently that it's okay to not be fine?"
"I've also told you not to use my own advice against me."
Dick chuckled, leaning into your touch as you gently played with his hair. "It's not our fault you helped raise two very intelligent people,"
Within the hour, you were suddenly surrounded by your kids. The ones you helped raise, and mold into the people they were today. You were maneuvered into the middle of the couch because every single one of them demanded they get their special thing with you.
So, of course it ended with you basically dog piled by three grown adults and two at your feet. Naturally there was a lot of bickering, because none of them were as small as they used to be.
But you weren't going to complain. You had your family, and you knew soon enough Bruce and Damian would be home to take their places next to you among everyone else.

Do you have fic recs by any chance? You really seem to have a lot of comics knowledge so I trust that you know whatâs accurate to the source material and whatâs not :)
you know I've gotten a few asks about this and I never quite manage to answer them, because I'm always convinced that I will somehow end up with a perfect and complete rec list if only I wait to reply just a little longer.
SO I'm gonna try cutting myself off at the head this time, and not giving you a prefect list by any means, but at least giving you an answer:
Here is a collection that I'm slowly forming for fics that really feel like they're actually based off comics. It is currently very small and people are welcome to bookmark to it if they find other very comics-based fics, but it's a start.
And a couple random recs as I scroll through my personal bookmarks:
Redrawing the Lines (11k) is fantastic Batman Reborn era Dick & Tim & Damian fic, and it continues as a series after.
also the second before the other shoe drops (8k) about the same trio. AU where Damian makes a murder attempt in a subtler way--but most important, is not demonized by a narrative that instead gives everyone a fair shake.
will we ever get to the other side? (5k) Dick & Tim in a very specific era where Dick's life is falling apart and filled with trauma, and Tim has just been hit with a huge smack of grief and also trauma, and neither is at their best but they're trying.
Everything by @silverwhittlingknife is ideal Dick & Tim content, and all deeply rooted in comics. I will call out:
The Return (11k), which is Dick's pov of Tim coming back to Gotham after Brucequest
only you will have stars that can laugh (9k) which is sad and loney but also sweet on Christmas
Red Letter Day (42k, wip) in which god Dick is trying his fucking best to hold it together okay. (aka everyone is kind of prickly, Dick is stressed, there's a Mysterious Wednesday of unclear importance, and I love them sm)
@flybynightwing has equally comics-based and also absolutely fascinating and compelling fics. I'll call out:
How Far Love Goes (99k) a case fic that draws in everyone in the bat family, with a tilt towards Dick (although the Steph is also fantastic), and turns into a reflection on Bruce as a parent.
goal-oriented mindset (5k) Catalina's pov, meeting Dick again well after everything went down. Subject may not be for you, but I find it SO interesting and roll it around and around in my head. (And it is of the very very rare selection of actually comics-based fics about that arc.)
It's a Wonderful Earth-218 (7k). A thoroughly depressed Dick goes to a world where he was never born, it's a wonderful life-style.
(And carrying on with various authors again:)
Hate and Love are Two Sides of the Same Coin (5k + 13k sequel) every member of his family is forced to say what they like least about Dick. The fic makes no secret of its thoroughly contrived premise and doesn't particularly care to justify it either, but still comes out with great characterization and relationship reflections.
Mikey Dies At The End (4k), outsider pov centered around Jason as the Red Hood, which is so very confident in its characterization of him and has zero considerations given to fanon and it's an excellent read.
A Meditation on Railroading (24k), a Tim-centric fic that deals heavily with his relationship with his dad. This one is not really canon at all, but it is good, and its version of the relationship is compelling.
Young Justice Visit the Suez Canal (3k) look this one is pure 90s-style Young Justice humor. We're here for a good time.
Aaand I know there are many more good fics, but I have run out of steam and I am trying so so hard to remember that some answer is better than no answer. Though I am very sorry to all my beloved writers & mutuals who have written excellent comics fic.
Anyway final tip is when you find an author who knows what they're talking about, go through all their fics, and then go through all their bookmarks.
#*#ask#anon#*dc#dc#fic recs#also a tip: just exclude 'dick is a bad brother'#ignore anything that says damian is inherently evil and bad#and know that 'bruce wayne is a good parent' is lmao so fanon but you should still enjoy it if you want to

Curiosity Killed the Exorcist
âAnd then, see here? You have to be on the lookout for subtle signs like these. This indicates that heâsâŠâ Marinette nodded as Tim continued explaining, pointing out various body language and other clues out on the Batcomputer. It had only been about six months since the Batfam collectively adopted the little ladybug into their menagerie of heroes, and started teaching her deductive habits and skills. She would not allow them anywhere near Paris on pain of death (some of them had already tried, and Bruce was still recovering from the bruise to his ego. The bruise on his ass from being teleported out of the city and onto the stone of the Batcave was gone, though) but she welcomed any help they could give from within Gothamâs city limits.
Usually, at least in the beginning, they did their mentorship at a distance over video call. But then Tim found out her identity, and Marinette made the excuse of wanting to meet with them in person to gauge their trustworthiness for herself and erase their memories of her identity if they failed her testâ and, well, it all snowballed from there until she was teleporting to the Batcave every few days for detective lessons. She was practically a Bat herself, if not for her out of theme codename. And she found herself surprisingly comfortable with the thought of them being a⊠very eccentric extended family.
Tim was flipping to another saved video in the Batcomputer archives to show another example of his current lesson, when Tikki flew up to Marinette in a hurry. She was holding Kaalkiâs glasses. The little kwami whispered something in Marinetteâs ear, instantly making the teen blanch and force on the glasses.
âSorry Timmy, gotta cut this short! Iâll come back tomorrow to make up for it! Okay? Okay! Awesome, youâre the best, bye!â She ignored all of Timâs protests and rapid fire questions, instead opening up a portal and jumping through it as fast as humanly possible. The portal has barely disappeared before an all-too-familiar voice rose up from behind Tim.
âMaybe Iâm still drunk, âcause I couldâa sworn I just saw a portal closing in the damned Batcave, of all places,â the British-accented drawl was accompanied by the flick of a lighter and accompanying fizzle of a flame. Tim groaned, mentally making a note to ask how in the world Marinette had known that John âAnnoying assholeâ Constantine was showing up soon, and if he could be in on the warning next time. Bruce, cowl still off, walked over from where he had been sparring with Damian and crossed his arms. He had also heard Marinetteâs hasty exit, and made a few mental notes of his own before focusing on the exorcist in front of him.
âWhat do you want, Constantine?â he grumbled. Any time the blond brit showed up, things only got far more complicated than he ever enjoyed. And he always gave Bruce a migraine, to boot.
âTwo things actually, Batsy,â John held up to fingers as his free hand tucked his lighter away in his pocket. His unlit cigarette stayed in his mouth though, probably just for the familiar feel of it. âOne; Iâm gonna need you to tell me why there was a portal closing when I walked in, because Iâll be honest. The implications there are way more interesting than what I came here for in the first place.â
âNone of your business. Whatâs the second thing?â Bruce immediately shot him down, but John was not one to be deterred. He never fucking was.
âBut you hate magic! You make sure I know that all too bloody well every time I pay you a visit, so why the sudden change in heart? Huh?â
âDrop it, Constantine. What. Do you. Want?â
âFine, fine. I need your help withâŠâ
â * â * â * â * â *
A week later, Marinette was sitting with Jason and Damian in one of the manorâs sitting rooms, the three of them just minding their own business and silently enjoying one anotherâs presence. Even if two of them would never admit it. Jason was reading Jane Eyre for the millionth time, Damian was leaning against Titus on the ground as he sketched, and Marinette was embroidering a sunhat. Unfortunately for her, Alfred the Cat was currently asleep on her lap and thus holding her hostage.
Even as Tikki flew up to her ear in a panic and whispered, making Marinette prick herself with her needle. She hissed for a second but shrugged off the familiar pain, much more concerned with whatever news Tikki had given her. Damian and Jason were already on high alert from the second that a whispered curse had left her lips, and were staring straight at her and her kwami and Marinette frantically tried to find a way to get up without awakening the cat sleeping on her.
âUh, whatâs wrong?â Jason asked, feeling thoroughly confused and left out. On one hand, he knew that if they were in physical danger she would have moved Alfred the Cat without hesitation. On the other, he did not like the sheer amount of anxiety he could see her experiencing. Marinetteâs frantic eyes shot over to him, pupils mere pinpricks and hands mouth agape as she tried to form some sort of plan.
âUhâ â
âAh! You must be the fair maiden that the Bats are comfortable with using magic around them,â John goddamned Constantine threw the door to the sitting room open wide, making it bounce off of the wall and lightly smack back against his shoulder. He ignored it as he grinned at the three younger people in the room, waltzing in casual as anything. He wagged a finger at her playfully. âIâve been awfully curious about you, ya know? Brucie boy knows a shit ton of magic users, but he never likes seeinâ any of us do our thing. And to not only allow you to teleport without any apparent discomfort but to actively protect your identity from me? Now thatâs a damn accomplishment and I really gotta applaud you for it,â he mockingly clapped his hands a few times. âSo whatâs your secret, huh? I wonât tattle.â
âNo thanks. Kaalki, a little help?â Marinette carefully pushed Alfred the Cat off of her lap before diving into the portal that Kaalki whipped up for her, the entire process happening so fast that Constantine couldnât even get out a proper âhey!â before she was gone and the portal closed. He just nodded, hooking his thumbs in his pockets.
âYa know what? Fair. Thatâs fair.â
âGoddamn it, Constantine!â Jason threw up his hands in frustration. âWhy the fuck do you have to scare away one of the only sane people in this family?â
âPart of my charm, little red riding hood.â
â * â * â * â * â *
âYou know, Iâve been pretty damn nice not teleporting right over to you whenever you disappear. So why donât you just tell me why youâre avoiding me now that we happen to be in the same room by complete accident, huh?â John asked from where he sat in one of Bruceâs lounge chairs sipping on a beer. Marinette mimed choking him, clearly fed up. He had been trying to have a conversation with her for the past three months, ever since that one time he caught the tail end of her portal closing in the Batcave. Three. Long. Months. And he hadnât given up, because something about this little Parisian teenager intrigued him. She was sixteen, that much he had gathered from the Bats. But to be sixteen and not only in possession of the Horse miraculous but also clearly the Ladybugs, since he had seen Tikki more than once as well, now that was interesting.
Anybody being in the possession of more than one Miraculous was already cause enough to be keeping an eye on them, which was why he had been keeping an eye on the Paris situation and had pieced together on his own that the presence of Tikki meant that this little parisian teenager was none other than Ladybug herself. Now, that? That was a whole new level of concerning, especially since he knew firsthand that the old Grand Guardian was gone and passed his title down toâ yeah, Ladybug.
After that deduction, his interest in Marinette had swiftly switched from curiosity to fuck-I-need-to-know-whatâs-going-on-here. Because no kid should have to deal with that kind of weight, and Constantine always looked out for kids when he could.
But right then, Marinette was glaring at him. She had been just coming over for a normal âfamilyâ dinner with the Waynes, which she attended from time to time. And apparently they had decided to have Constantine already over so that they could chaperone a meeting between them that would hopefully appease the stupid british magic user enough that he left them all alone again until the next time he needed help.
âBelieve me when I say, youâd rather not know,â she replied sharply, glaring Dick. He was the one who had convinced her to come despite her recent close calls with Constantine in the past few days. He studiously avoided her gaze. âI just would rather not cross your path, and thereâs no reason for us to interact. Why do you care, anyway?â
âYou see, now that is an excellent question!â he chugged the last of his beer and gestured to her with the empty bottle. âNormally, I wouldnât give a flying ratâs ass. But Iâve put two and two together, since I know who Tikki is,â he nodded to the red and black Kwami. âAnd maybe I just wanna keep an eye on the new Grand Guardian to make sure sheâs doinâ alright. Thatâs an awful lot of magic and responsibility that you donât deserve, but Iâm not about to try to take it away. Keepinâ an eye on you is the next best thing.â
âTry again,â Marinette shot back, crossing her arms. âYou were interested in me before you learned about me being Ladybug.â
âIâm nosy, what do you want me to say? I saw a portal in Batmanâs man-cave, I get curious. Sue me.â
âWell. I have Bruce and everyone else already watching out for me, so you can leave me alone now. If I need your help, Iâll make sure to ask every other magic user first before contacting you.â
âWoah, now whatâs all this venom for?â
âUh, maybe we should go and actually eat dinner?â Dick tried to step in, hands up. Constantine had stood up from the chair he was in, which was usually a cue to change the subject as fast as possible. âBefore Alfred has to come get us?â
âMaybe Iâll be less venomous if you let the subject drop and leave me alone!â
âContext would be nice, though.â
âSeriously guys, letâs go! Food!â Dick was once again ignored.
âContext is the last thing you need in this situation,â Marinetteâs voice was suddenly soft, her arms dropping to her sides. âWeâve had this conversation so many times in so many now-deleted timelines. Just drop it this time.â
âIf those timelines are now-deleted, then I obviously donât remember whatâs so bad about telling me why youâre acting like Iâm some hated family member youâre avoiding!â
Silence.
Pure. Fucking. Silence. As they all watch with front row seats as Marinette flinches at the word âfamilyâ.
Pure silence as Constantineâs shoulders drop at the sight of her flinch, realization slapping itself on his face.
âNo.â
âSee? I fucking knew you wouldâ that this would happen. This always happens, you always hate finding it out, but youâre soâ so stubborn!â Marinette was blinking away tears, digging in her pockets and bringing out Kaalkiâs glasses. âYouâll drop it now, at least. You always do.â
âNow what is that supposed to mean?â Constantine rubbed his forehead, still trying to sort through his amalgam of emotions. Marinette just shook her head, turning to Kaalki.
âDo you mind showing Monsieur Constantine the way out, Kaalki? Iâll grab you a load of sugar cubes afterward.â
âNo, wait, hang on a second!â
A portal opened up under him, making John âStubborn Idiotâ Constantine drop ten feet down onto the hardwood, polished floor of his house. His bruised tailbone would take a while to heal, but his frazzled mind was by far the more concerning development. He staggered to his feet, reaching for the nearest bottle of tequila.
âUgh, fuck my damn life.â
â * â * â * â * â *
âMarinette..?â Damian nudged the girl with his shoulder, frowning. It was after dinner that same day, and as much as he hated to admit it he had grown to actually like having her around. She was a good friend to have. And seeing her slumped back on one of their sofas, sketchbook covering her face and not a single rambling conversation to be had or heard? It was very concerning. She just made a groaning sound to answer him, prompting his frown to deepen. âAre you alright?â
âI just canât believe that such a sweet, adorable thing like you is half made up of Constantineâs genes,â Jason mused bluntly from the opposite couch, where he tossed a rubber ball up and down out of boredom. âBut now I see where you get all of your Disaster Bi-ness from.â
âShut uuuuup,â She groaned, chucking her sketchbook at him. He caught it in midair, replacing his rubber ball with it and tossing it up and down in the air. âIâm just frustrated. This timeline is still perfectly stable, so I canât erase it. And I canât exactly ask âhey, can someone commit a horrid atrocity that makes this timeline split from the main one so that I can erase it and we can start over from four months ago?â because that would be horribly irresponsible of me. But seriously, Jason. If youâre gonna ever commit, like, city-wise arson? Iâd probably condone it right now if only so I have an excuse to use time travel to get out of this situation.â
âNot committing arson unless you give me a better reason for it, Pigtails.â
âDamn.â
âBut are you okay?â Damian asked again, seeing as she had completely ignored him.
âIâm fine, Damian,â she finally sighed. âAnd I know how this is gonna go. Heâs going to totally ignore me now, until we meet during some magical crisis and he only interacts with me when necessary. Then he pretends we never met, we have a private little one-sided whisper-argument about how he will never make a good father figure and I would be better off leaving him alone, blah blah blah. Avoidance is a coping mechanism I guess I inherited from him.â
âGuess itâs a good thing Iâm trying to bite that in the bud then, eh?â Marinette startled out of her sitting position, seeing John stumble into the roomâŠ
Drunk off his ass. But apparently still at least mildly coherent.
âI agree with deleted-meâs, Iâm not gonna be a dad. Not me,â he tripped, landing on his still-bruised ass and hissing in pain before continuing from the floor; âSo if youâre looking for another Daddy dearest, that ainât me.â
âSee, I knew this is how youâdââ
âLet me finish,â he interrupted. âI donât know how long the booze is gonna last and I need itâs courage here. âKay? âKay. Where was I? Right. But I know magic, ya know. The kind that doesnât rely on little bobblehead gods to do. I gotâ like, a million books. Shit ton of books. At my place. Ya can read âem. My books. At my place. But I ainât gonna parent, but I can lend ya books. Maybe give magic advice. Teach a little. Little bit. Didnât think Iâd have a child, but apparently I do and sheâs the fuckinâ grand guardian and a damn hero, and I donât know how the fuck I was able to help make someone like that. But whatever, itâs not like the worldâs ever fuckinâ been easy on me,â He pulled out a sample-sized bottle of whiskey from one of the pockets on the inside of his trench coat and chugged it. After a brief wince and hiss at the burn, he kept rambling. âMy doorâs open, is what Iâm tryinâ to say. No guarantee Iâll be in any state to talk to when you walk through it, but itâs open.â
Deciding to steadfastly ignore the tears streaming down her face, Marinette just swallowed thickly and nodded.
âI, uh. I think I can work with that.â
John barely made it to the nearby bin in time to vomit into it.

I hate my imagination sometimes, guys. I started imagining a convo between Mari and Constantine at like 4am and it wouldn't leave me alone until I got it down. but by the time I wrote it, I kinda forgot like 60% of the original convo and just winged it. And this was born. I 100% blame @multifandomscribette because their Bio!dad John Constantine headcannons are amazing and even though this isn't in that universe, those headcannons are exactly what inspired this. So blame them, lol.

Jason Todd x Reader -Â âIn The Pale Moonlightâ
After a one night stand, Jason doesnât seem to be able to get his mind off you. Desperate to get you out of his head, he hesitantly agrees to go to Wayne Enterprise with his brothers for work, as a response to scrutiny from the general public. What happens when the person he was trying to erase from his memory pops right back into his life?
Requested by anon and on Wattpad:Â âCan I request one where reader and one of the boys are dating but they act like they still trying to get each other so they flirt a lot and stuff even if everyone knows theyâre togetherâ/Â
âAnd other one where the reader is feeling herself and singing âMeet me in the pale moonlightâ by Lana Del Rey in front of one of batboys and theyâre like wow she cute and kiss the readeeeeeer (theyâre dating and theyâre teenagers)THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU đâ /
âhaha well I have another which was that the reader is harley and Bruce's kid and she meets  batboys but jason since she knew before she left  for the first time since she was away for wayne industries business meetingsâ
A/N: I hope you guys donât mind that I tweaked it a little since these requests donât have alot of depth individually!
âIâm just here for a drink.â the girl smiled politely even though she was extremely uncomfortable.Â
âI am too, can I have it with you?â
âOh for crying out loud leave her alone, donât be such a creep.â The man at the end of the counter groaned.
âMind your business.â the creep gritted his teeth.
âYour disgusting aura is polluting my drink so it makes it my business.â (Y/N) watched as he stood up and walked towards the pair. Now that he was closer, the woman could see how attractive he was up close, stunning eyes, sharp jaw, tall and a streak of dyed white hair, âFuck off will you?âÂ
âWho do you think you are?âÂ
âSorry, I forgot a world, fuck off please.â The stranger shot the man a terrifying glare and without another word, the man studded away, like a dog with its tail between his legs.Â
âThank you mister, but if he laid a hand on me I would have sucker punched him.âÂ
âMister huh?â he smirked, sitting beside her.Â
âWell whatâs your name then?âÂ
âJason, pleasure to meet you.âÂ
****
âThis is your place?â she hummed, fingers running through his soft hair as his lips trailed down her neck, pulling her legs around his hips.
âMmh hmm,âÂ
âYou rich or something?â the woman breathed out as he sucked on her skin.Â
âSomething like that,â he murmured, pulling away to tease her lips with his. Jason stared deeply into her eyes.
âWhat are you waiting for, lover boy? You brought me here.â (Y/N)âs arms hung loosely on his shoulders, occasionally touching the back of his head.
âYes maâam,â he smirked, hooking his hands under her legs and carrying her to his bedroom.
****
Glancing at her side to the soft breathing of the naked man beside her, she shuffled, stretching and yawning. What a night, she tried moving her legs but winced, what a night indeed.Â
âGood morning princess,â his morning voice was incredibly attractive as his arm slid around her waist, pulling her flush against him.
âMmh, good morning,â the woman squirmed in his grip as he nipped at her ear teasingly with his teeth, âwhat time is it?â
âYou have someplace to be?â he murmured, hand caressing her naked hip.
âYeah, I have work.â
âOn a Saturday?âÂ
âSelf employed.âÂ
âNice!âÂ
****
A month or so later, Jason was frustratedly sitting in the meeting room, chewing on his lip in boredom as Bruce brought all of them to a meeting at Wayne Enterprise for less scrutiny from the public eye.Â
âThe person we will be working on for the new design is going to arrive soon so I need you all on your best behaviour.â He glared at all the boys.Â
âYeah yeah, can we just get on with it so I can leave?â The second oldest rolled his eyes.Â
âMr Wayne?â as if on queue, the person knocked on the one-way privacy film that covered every window of the room, the blurred figure waiting patiently on the other side.Â
With a last scolding glance to everyone, Bruce strutted over, opening the door and smiling.
âGood morning Mr Wayne.â the woman greeted with a polite smile.
Jasonâs eyes widened, and stayed that way even when he made eye contact with the girl. She responded with the same reaction, but quickly regained her composure and greeted the other boys.Â
âOh hey (Y/N),â Dick waved to his roommate, âyou look great.â He flirted.
â...Um hey,â she greeted hesitantly, feeling a little uncomfortable with his usual ways in the professional setting.
âShall we get down to business.â Bruce glared at his eldest son.
****
âYou donât have to act so grumpy.â Jason rolled his eyes as they finally arrived at their hotel in Europe after an excruciatingly long flight.Â
âIâm tired, I need sleep.â Not wanting to address the elephant in the room, especially when she was this exhausted, she scurried to the bathroom to slip into comfortable pyjamas and landed right into bed, âIâm having this conversation tomorrow, good night.âÂ
The next day came quickly and (Y/N) opened her eyes reluctantly, wanting to melt in the comfortable double bed she was in. Discreetly, she peeked at the double bed facing her diagonally.Â
The woman frowned, it was empty.
âIâm right here.â the man voiced from behind her as he exited the bathroom.
âJason!â she screeched, âwhat the hell! Donât creep up on people!âÂ
âWell donât try to spy on people when they are sleeping!â he threw his damp towel to her.
âEwwwww!â she grimaced.
âChill, I was drying my hair with that.â he walked towards his bed, and she only now noticed that he was naked -- with a towel around his waist obviously. Steam was emitting from his skin as it glistened still.
With warm ears, she pulled the covers over her face, eyes peeking out discreetly.
âWeâve seen each other completely naked, I donât see what the problem is, if youâre going to look, be shameless,â he moved his butt from left to right teasingly, âyou can see this regularly if you want,â he chuckled.
With a sigh, she buried herself under the covers.Â
âI havenât changed my mind Jason, Iâm sorry, Iâm not interested in commitment at the moment.âÂ
She felt a weight on the bed and hesitantly took a peep out. Jason was laying on her bed, shirtless but with some underwear on.
âAt least give me the benefit of the doubt for this trip.â he gave her the puppy eyes. Eying him suspiciously, she sighed.
âAlright, fine, donât disappoint.â
****
A few months or so later into the relationship with Jason and gotten closer to his younger brothers, (Y/N) slipped on a comfortable T-shirt, watching herself in the mirror as she tidied her hair a bit and examined the hickey on her neck.
Swaying lightly from side to side to the song that was stuck in her head, she hummed softly to herself, setting out her clothes for the day.
âYou don't have to give me anything
Just put your sweet kiss kiss on my lips now babyâ
Walking back to the mirror, deciding on whether or not jewelry was necessary, the woman continued.
âThink about you almost all the time, all the time and-â
âI love you so much baby,â he breathed out from the other side of the room.Â
âHmm?â she glanced in the mirror.Â
âKeep singing~âÂ
âNo,â she stuck her tongue out playfully, âare you ready?â
âDo we have to go?â Jason whined, marching up to her, slapping her ass and squeezing it before hugging her from behind, nuzzling her hair, his warm skin against her.
âBaby of course we do, we have to hide the fact that weâre together, plus they are fun, weâre all friends here.â she rubbed her butt against his hips and he bit her ear.Â
âNo teasing,â he whispered in her ear, turning her around and pushing her against the dresser, âor else.âÂ
âOr else?â the woman chuckled, âbut seriously though,â her hands cupped his cheeks as he stared at her lips, âwe canât act like a couple, itâs unprofessional,âÂ
âTechnically I donât work at the company,âÂ
âAnd the person Iâm working with is your dad.â
âAdoptive, you have nothing to worry about.â
âJust a coffee, maybe a lunch, and then we can come straight home.âÂ
âMmh, okay,â he pouted, holding her tightly as she kissed his lips and pulled away. âYou sing beautifully, please do it more for me.â he pouted. She chuckled, shaking her head slightly in embarrassment.
âPut a shirt on and letâs get ready, I donât want to be late!â (Y/N) ushered, âand the sooner youâre out of here, the less anxious Iâll be that your brother unexpectedly enters his own home and sees you in it.â
When they were ready, at a somewhat reasonable time, they drove there as quickly and responsibly as possible.
âWhy is your hand still on my thigh?!â (Y/N) jumped once she realised he had discreetly snaked his hand back on her thigh when he was parking the car on the side of the road, in a surprising proximity. Slapping his hand away and giving him a look, the woman slipped out of the car and walked up the stairs, ringing on the bell.
Jason scurried up beside her, slapping her butt playfully before pushing the door open.Â
âHey guys!â she grinned, not having the time to scold her boyfriend once again as she was greeted with welcoming smiles.Â
âHow have you been?â Dick teased, having seen her just yesterday.
After playful banter, and not-so-playful for the brothers, over a nice hot drink, a new topic came up.
âHow was the party yesterday (Y/N)?â Jason inquired, knowing fully well about it but trying to seem inconspicuous, âI hope no one stole your heart, thatâs for me!â ⊠or not.
She paused, giving him an unimpressed look, reluctant to answer âIt was great, and no.âÂ
âNo what?â he smirked. Her cheeks burned, she did not like being put on the spot to lie, especially since this was incredibly unnecessary.
âNo one did anything.âÂ
âTo who-â
âThis is embarrassing, we know you two are a couple,â Damian nearly gagged.Â
âHuh?â (Y/N) turned to him, feeling her soul leave her body.
âHow do you know?â Jason looked at him.
âItâs been a while.â Dick chuckled.
âWe been knew đ
,â Tim rolled his eyes.
âSomeone left someoneâs underwear in an awkwardly obvious place when I came around⊠and you slapped her butt before you came in here, everyone saw it.â Dick explained, watching his brother.
âOH MY GOD, JASON!âÂ
âI didnât- wait, how do you know that itâs her underwear???â
The eldestâs expression fell and he blushed.Â
âI might have um-âÂ
âHe accidentally came in when I was packing my bag to leave for the business meeting in France okay?â the woman spluttered.Â
âYou did WHAT?â

Your Endgame
So this is requested by@raginghellfire. I havenât written in a while due Uni and busy classes but I hope I did a good job on this. UwU Dami might be a bit OOC but I really think he is a passionate lover when he falls in love.
Bruce Wayne was one tough cookie. Unlike Tony, he held shackled himself with the responsibility of protecting Gotham city from its baddies that he barely let himself enjoy his life. He too cares for children very much but he wasn't as hands-on being there for them. He wasn't always there in those best events in their life to congratulate them that greatly hurt them. It would seem that he just adopted these children as soldiers for his endless war with crime, that they were nothing but expendable assets. But he does love them and had just recently been trying to reconnect with all of them.
Tony Stark had always let his child have free reign over their life but he never leaves the passenger seat. He will always be by their side no matter what choice they make. He was never strict as he was a free soul but he grows and understands responsibility everyday after returning from Afghanistan after being held captive. He wasn't a perfect father but he did try for Y/n, good thing for him is that she understands responsibility earlier made it easy for him to be there for him.
Bruce Wayne was notorious for being a play boy, same goes to Tony Stark. Both men has had another of flings that the paparazzi didn't miss to see. It took quite a while before two of them finally found out the true meaning of true love. The one decided to settle down while the other chose his job over attaining a lifelong happiness and peace.
Some of the Wayne kids also had their own flings through out their lives. Some had more the two and some, just one. Just one cause when the second came, they were their endgame.
---
The bright city lights of Paris slightly seeped in the glass panes of the balcony doors of the room. Across it was a king sized bed with undone sheets and two people underneath the high quality comforter. Damian and Y/n sat with backs against the head board, the latter former resting his against the latter's figure. His head slightly buried on her neck as her fingers combed through his bed hair her other hand around his bare chest.
"I'm pretty sure that photo reached them already," her voice echoed around the slightly dim room.
Damian hummed, "It did, which earned me quite a number of miss calls from my family,"
Y/n giggled that he found contagious making him do the same.
"I'm going back to Gotham in two days but I don't think I'm ready to leave your side yet," he snuggled his face on her neck, placing butterflies kisses on them. Her eyes close, a flutter vibrates within her chest as she pulled his head closer. Placing her lips on his head. Damian pulled her seated figure closer to his own, his face snuggling closer to her skin.
"Can I just postpone the flight for another month?" he mumbled, sending tickles on her skin making her giggle.
"Dami, you said that 2 months ago and you already bought a ticket home,"
Damian never whines but after almost two years of being in a relationship, there are certain childishness he had suddenly unlock being with her. Y/n laughed at his childish wiles as it send tingles in his stomach, he loves it when she laughs because of him.
"Besides, I already scheduled mine and my seat is next to yours, you can't expect me to have an empty seat beside me?"
Damian's head shot up from her neck, his eyes staring at her. Y/n bit her lip containing a fit of giggles after seeing his eyes sparkle like a child getting a new toy. He slumped his faced between breast.
"I really love you."
"And I really love you too, Dami,"
---
And probably the biggest public figures is youngest Wayne child and the eldest Stark Child. The most controversial couple that reached ears all over the world. No one knew of their relationship as until the paparazzi caught a picture of them kissing at Champ de Mars near the Eiffel tower. The news made use of the quote, "Pictures speaks a thousand words" rather well. Some are heartbroken by the news but the biggest people taken surprise by the news were the Wayne's.
Clicks and flashes surrounded the long trail of red carpet that lead to entrance of the Wayne manor that held another gala. This time it was a celebratory occasion for the youngest Wayne's return from a long vacation that he took a almost 2 years ago. A break he took after a rather peaceful yet melancholic break up with titan's member. Damian suddenly decided to toss the towel and told his Father that he doesn't want to be like Bruce, alone and brooding. He needs to breath for a while to which his father did not hesitate to agree. Bruce loves his children, he may not show it but he does.
A Grey matte Porsche 911 parked its way at the end of the carpet making some of the photographers to  it, awaiting the celebrities that will emerge.
"Do you think they'll like me? I mean Dad isn't really in good terms with Bruce Wayne you know," Y/n  eyed the silhouette of the Wayne manor and the crowding paps at the cat walk. This wasn't the first time she came to a Wayne gala, its just that this time she was going to be introduced as Damian Wayne's girlfriend.
The emerald eyed Wayne gently took her chin to meet his eyes. A gentle smiles grew from his lips.
"They will, beloved. I know they will because I love you," his voice said laced a such a tender tone that no one ever thought he could have.
A love sick grin emerged from her once doubting expression before she pressed leaned for a quick peck to which he returned in an instant. They pulled away with both of them sharing the same cheek tinted grins.
Damian emerged from the driver's seat followed by the loud camera clicks and calling reporters. He simply gave his signature Wayne smile before turning to the other side of the car to where Y/n emerges with the same celebrity like smile that she inherited from her father. From the moment they set foot on the carpet, the paparazzi just got louder and rather pushy that made the guards push them out a little harder.
"Mr. Wayne how'd you meet Ms. Stark?!"
"Miss Stark, how long have you two been together?!"
"Miss Stark look here!!"
"Mister Wayne! Look here!!"
To say that the paparazzi were going crazy would be an understatement, as they were going mad-crazy as the couple walking the catwalk is the biggest confirmation to the news that a union between the Wayne and the Stark has occurred. If they could only get to the couple to ask some, more like a bunch of questions would be the cherry on top of the new news for next day.
Upon entry within the Manor, their arrival turn heads and silenced chatters.
Y/n M/n Stark, the matriarch of the Stark Industries inheriting the nickname, 'Merchant of Death' in Manhattan. She was a much smarter tinker as she assured no such case like her father's long captivity ever happened again and all Stark weapons are heavily protected and can only be handled by the military hands.
Damian Wayne was no CEO but is a COO of the Wayne Enterprises. Helping his brother Tim in managing the affairs in the company. It's bad enough that the male is overdosing himself with caffeine while handling their nightly hero affairs, he was still his brother no matter how much they quarrel. Damian was willing to shoulder long painstaking meetings for him just to let him have a day off.
To see the two of them together would expresses a union.
Their matching outfit theme elevated the curiosity of all the attendants of the gala. Damian's slick three piece burgundy check suit made Damian look sophisticated but neat. Every young lady around the room were welcome to gawk at his figure as he glides with his partner. Y/n's own green gown greatly complimented his with its shade of green, its shape hugging her figure naturally that she loved. Every young man had their eyes on an emerald.
It didn't take long before the couple reached the group of people they are meant to meet. They didn't miss their wide eyes and dropped jaws. Y/n may be a stranger but they could agree that she is a beautiful stranger. It was only when Damian spoke that they have gained awareness of their surroundings.
"Good evening father, everyone. It's nice to see you all again," Damian began with Y/n holding on to his shoulder.
"I gotta say demon spawn you grew quite a lot for just two years," Jason earned a slightly hard nudge from Dick. Damian may have grown but he still has a tick with Jason's nicknames for him.
"Don't mind him Damian, why don't you introduce your company," the eldest said as he slightly push the white streaked hair male behind him that earned a look from his father.
Damian didn't say anything on the nickname thing and proceeded to introduce her which earned quite an awkward atmosphere on his family's side while the couple remained at ease in their presence.
"Stark its nice to finally see you again," Tim entered as he brought his hand out to which the woman took generously.
"Good to see you too Drake, and good evening to you too Mister Wayne,"
Bruce went forward to shake her hand, "How is your father by the way?" he asked.
"He is doing well, he's living by the countryside with my sister and mom," she replied with a smile.
"So he's settling down?" Bruce asked, quite surprised.
"Yes, he said life is short and he intends to spend it living it with us," She continued to which earned a bit of awkwardness with Damian's siblings. It was a rather sensitive topic but they didn't speak of it any further.
---
Damian had to separate himself from Y/n to help Tim a bit on the company. Seated by the bar, with his two brothers and his father, it was quite a company.
"How long have you two been going out?" Dick opened as you turned to him.
"We've been together for almost 1 year and half years, but we didn't started dating until six months later after we met,"
"We're you aware he just got out of a break up?" Jason raised.
Y/n took a sip of her drink, "I did, that's why I didn't let him to be with me until I totally confirmed that I was not a rebound,"
"And how do you know you aren't just a rebound for Rachel Roth?" Dick asked this time.
Bruce didn't say anything as he wasn't very much in touch with his son's relationship, but he did know that he loved her, Damian wouldn't risk his life for anyone if he did. As much as he wanted to stop Dick from pulling a rather sensitive topic on a person he just met especially when that person is someone close to his brother, he wants to know if the girl was just a fling. Y/n was known to have a number of flings before Damian came in to the picture.
"Damian is not mine to claim, whether I am a rebound or not, I still love him, you can try to make me say what we are having is just a fling but I know one thing," her tone was authoritative but calm.
They were doubting Damian's judgement with her relationship with her. Its not like she wasn't aware that he dated a co-worker of his. He was his first love and Y/n knew she might not be his last but she sure prays to whatever ethereal being that they last.
"I love him. Whether you believe me or not, I will always do even if he chooses her over me,"
Damian was her everything.
---
By midnight, Damian said his good byes with his family. He didnât miss the slight look of sadness in her eyes so he took her away from his brothers' company. Damian was sure that they said something but she chose to protect them by not telling him anything.
When they got to the parking lot as they got to their car, Damian stopped and had Y/n face him. Before she could ask, he had already latched his lips on her. Giving her an ever so passionate kiss they always share. One that he always felt like he was having his first kiss the first time.
Y/n circled her arms around his neck before they broke off, forehead resting against each other.
"I may not know what went on between you and my family by the bar, but I want you to know that I love you. You may not be my first but I am deathly sure that you are my lastâŠ" he whispered to her.

#BatsInQuarantine
I am going insane. So I poured my restlessness into one long and very detailed post and got super into it. Please enjoy this hot mess.
The Justice League, being the well-meaning virus-proof Super Friends that they are, took one good look at the news, one good look at their non-powered friends Ollie, Bruce, and their families, and collectively decided that these normal humans must be Protected At All Costs.
Now, keep in mind, Bruce is never one to roll over when it comes to being benched.Â
However, he understands the importance of social distancing. He knows he needs to set a good example for his kids, and keep up appearances as Gothamâs Most Responsible Multi-Billionaire.Â
So. Quarantine it is.Â
But how are his kids handling it?
Dick -Â
100% on board in the beginning. Gotta do the Responsible Thing. Gotta set a Good Example. Besides, guys, this is gonna be Fun. Quality Family Time is always a Must.
He lasted 2 days.Â
Then he started to get twitchy.Â
And as everyone knows? A Trapped Dick Grayson is a Feral Dick Grayson.
He bounces off the walls.
Literally.
âI have to climb.âÂ
âDick, no.â Â
âI have to climb everything.â
Has scaled the manor 16 times already. Has climbed the chandelier. The banister. Bruce. The roof. The Cave. Anything in the house thatâs been bolted down and especially anything that hasnât.Â
Duke found him clinging to the wall 10 ft off the ground like Spiderman and screamed so loud it shattered glass.Â
Desperate for news of the outside.Â
He thrives off of it like a starving man.Â
Was the one to suggest he and Barbara take a break to Social Distance from each other (âSorry, babe, kissing spreads germsâ) and experienced Instant Regret(TM) approximately 5 minutes after.Â
The Family has labelled him a Flight Risk Level 1 (Most likely to say f**k it and make a break for the outside world)
Jason -Â
Accidentally got trapped inside the manor with the others when Bruce called Shutdown. If he had his way, heâd be chilling in his favorite safe-house right now, binging The Witcher with Roy and Artemis, and not worrying about finding a stray brother in his sock drawer.
But heâs nothing if not an opportunist.Â
The way he sees it, Jason has 3 options:
Self Improvement
Self Isolation (See Duke, Cass, and Damian)
Descension Into Madness (See Dick and Steph)
And, well, he always wanted to try a few things. Now heâs got the free time to do it.
So he settles on baking.Â
Alfredâs got enough food and raw ingredients stored up to feed an army. (Not because heâs a Panic-Buying-Hoarder in times like these. But because heâs a Panic-Buying-Hoarder all the time. Just try feeding 11+ teenagers sometime.)
Uses recipes he finds off Google.
His first few attempts are, in a word, âtragicâ.
Alfred slips him a few of his recipe cards, and Jason suddenly starts seeing Results.Â
Turns out heâs pretty good at this baking thing once he gets the hang of it.Â
Hope everyoneâs okay eating nothing but pie, macaroons, biscuits, and whatever else Jason whips up.Â
Cause thatâs gonna be the only food left by the time heâs done.Â
Barbara -Â
Self-quarantined with her dad.Â
Theyâve been binge-watching classic black and white movies together.
Itâs a fun time, but sheâs started to get a little antsy. Loving her dad and wanting to be around him 24/7 are, understandably, mutually exclusive.Â
Calls the manor to video-chat every day.
For her sanity just as much as theirs.Â
Gives everyone little challenges to film on their phones and send in. She makes compilations of everyoneâs submissions so they can all watch and laugh together.Â
Bonus points for Creativity
One comp shows the family trying to drop Mentos into coke bottles.Â
Dick did a handstand, and dropped his Mento from the second story balcony.Â
Tim did it wearing the Batman cowl. The soda exploded into his face, and the rest of the video is just Bruceâs Shrieking.
Stephanie tried it, but the bottle tipped. Everyone on camera screamed as the bottle rocketed through the front window.Â
She spends most of her calls having one-on-one convos with Dick.
Theyâve come up with little code phrases so they can be Cheesy even with family members lurking in the background.Â
She thinks the way he clings to the monitor is cute.Â
Almost like heâs giving her a hug through the screen.Â
(Itâs easier than letting herself worry about his mental state, at least)
Tim -
Oh this boy.
Freaked out for the first five minutes before he decided âhey wait, Bruce is letting me stay in my pajamas all day? Noice.âÂ
Now heâs just vibing.
The rest of his family is Low-Key shielding him.
He Has No Spleen, you see.
Steph: âSomeone could cough on him and he could die!â
He just goes about his day, playing Animal Crossing like thereâs no tomorrow, tinkering on projects, taking naps, etc. Living his best life.
Meanwhile thereâs always someone lurking behind him, keeping watch, keeping him safe.Â
Dick sneezed within 5 feet of Tim once (the fact that he was on top of the dusty bookshelf Tim was perusing is irrelevant)
Jason still full-body tackled him the second Timâs back was turned.Â
No one with any symptoms--
Like, any symptoms. They donât even have to be Corona-related.
--is allowed within 10 feet of Tim.Â
Tim has been wandering the manor for weeks, now, without seeing another human being.Â
(He sees Dick on the ceiling sometimes, but that doesnât really count)
Heâs been trying increasingly drastic pranks and shenanigans to draw someone, anyone, out.Â
But it doesnât matter how many times he steals Damianâs sword, or sets fire to Jasonâs brownie bites.
Nobody wants to risk it.Â
Cass -Â
No one has seen her since quarantine started.
Everyone is approximately 87% sure sheâs somewhere in the manor though
Because she does eat the meals Alfred leaves out for her.
Or at least someone does, at any rate.Â
(Jason and Santa top the running suspects list)
Santa was Stephâs suggestion. For some reason it snowballed.Â
Itâs assumed that Cass misunderstood the meaning of âsocial distancingâ and took it too far.Â
But no one knows for sure.Â
She is Timâs Guardian Angel.Â
People who so much as clear their throats a little too loudly anywhere near him suddenly wake up on a different floor of the house four hours later.Â
Duke came closest to spotting her while he was up in the attic.Â
Either that, or thereâs another Creepy Sister everyone forgot to tell him about living up there.
She is silent, and watchful, sticking to the shadows, but she does leave the occasional note out to brighten her siblingsâ day.Â
Things like âhelo i love uâ and âhop u ar okâ mostly.Â
She is bound and determined to protect her family from this invisible threat, no matter the cost.Â
Steph -Â
Like Dick, she was Super Pumped at first.Â
(Just kind of showed up at Wayne Manor before quarantine was enacted. The original purpose of her visit is unclear, but regardless, sheâs Trapped.)
Also Like Dick, her descent into madness was swift.
She is impossible to pin down.Â
Not like Cass or Damian, whoâve stayed off the grid, and are therefore Untraceable.Â
No. Sheâs impossible to pin down, because she never stops moving.Â
Switches seamlessly between Zumba on top of the Giant Dinosaur in the Batcave, and furiously knitting Alfred (the Cat) a sweater with a pair of Timâs used chopsticks.Â
Braided everyoneâs hair while they were asleep.
Even Bruceâs.Â
She tried to do Timâs, but somehow blacked out and regained consciousness in the attic.Â
When she woke up with a scream and a furiously twitching eye, she startled Duke out of his Makeshift Fort he built out of old cardboard boxes and antique furniture. Heâs had to resort to finding a new hiding place.Â
Sometimes, on the rare occasions she does sit still, staring off into the distance, sheâll suddenly start laughing hysterically. This may last between thirty seconds and thirty minutes, depending entirely on how long itâs been since sheâs knitted a cat sweater or done cartwheels through every room in the house.
Blew up the greenhouse out back, somehow.
Everyone has agreed not to talk about it.
Some people were built to handle prolonged time inside their homes.
Stephanie Brown is not that way.
Damian -Â
Damian Wayne Cannot Be Contained.
At least not inside the house.Â
He took off thirty-six hours into quarantine.Â
Thanks to the security equipment around the borders of the Wayne Estate, he canât escape the grounds.Â
(Heâs tried and failed multiple times. Jason and Bruce have a running bet on how many times the perimeter alarms will go off per day.)
(Jason is winning.)
He wanders the grounds with Titus as his only companion.Â
The two of them run laps, practice drills, and find ways to occupy their time.Â
No oneâs entirely sure what those ways are.Â
In fact, nobody knows exactly where Damian is at any given time.Â
Only that he is Out There.Â
And heâs the best security system Wayne Manorâs ever had.Â
So far, heâs stopped five groups of civilians scaling the perimeter walls before the lasers and electric nets even have a chance to deploy.
They were trying to break in and steal supplies.Â
(Even ones they already had in surplus. Like Toilet Paper.)
Heâs also stopped Dick from escaping twelve (12) times.
Drags him back by his shirt collar and deposits him on the welcome mat.Â
Usually with a note for Alfred/Jason, requesting more fruit tarts.Â
Duke -Â
Did not leave the attic for two weeks.Â
Then Steph discovered his hiding spot (read: was dumped there by Cassandra) which forced him to relocate to the basement.Â
Yes, it turns out Wayne Manor does have a basement.Â
This was a surprise to Duke, who always thought that the Batcave was Bruce Wayneâs basement.Â
Alfred keeps him supplied with all the necessities:
i.e. food, magazines, assorted pastries from Jasonâs latest batch, usually straight out of the oven.
Duke also snagged the Manorâs Alexa.Â
She has become a sort of âWilsonâ to Dukeâs âChuck Nolandâ.
She is his only comfort. His only ally.Â
Heâs determined to wait out this quarantine, doing his best to avoid the others.Â
Duke has seen these people under pressure.Â
He knows exactly what heâs dealing with.Â
Duke:Â âAlexa is the only motherf****r in this madhouse I ever respected.â
*offended butler noises from the other room*
Duke:Â âAnd also Alfred.â

Hey. Can you write one where the batfam visits Marinette at school and the class is just plain surprised and chaos ensues. You can include any salt (if yes, preferably Alya and a jealous Adien). Ship is daminette with sibling Jasonette or something like that. Thanks
Sorry Itâs a little late! I hope this is something like what you had in mind :)) @long-lost-peace
Career Day
â-And it was just terrible Damian! Lila literally stood in front of the class and told them how she tried to get you all to come for career week, but that you all were just so busy in Thailand on a business trip that you just didnât see how you could make it.â
Damian chuckled at his exasperated girlfriend. He knew how agitated this sausage haired woman made her, but his laughter couldnât be helped. After all, every time she enters a rant, her little nose scrunches up in the cutest way that he couldnât help but compare to the hamster sheâs always wanted.
âDamiannnn, this isnât funny! I was literally going to ask Dick if he could come for Fridayâs session, Madame Bustier knew that too! So for her to step up and claim that it was all her idea? Gods, now he canât even come because everyone will praise her for âconvincingâ him to show up.â
âI know my love, what if father and I show up instead? Dick is on a business trip in Thailand right now, attempting to expand the company into further international business, but Iâm sure even he would drop the meeting if you asked.â
Marinette let out a sigh as she slunk down into her seat, only the top of her head visible in the laptop camera.
âI know he would, but Iâm retracting my ask. I really donât want to deal with the backlash. Besides, itâs getting late. Chat will be expecting me for patrol in an hour and I havenât even started my homework yet.â
Damian nodded as they said their goodbyes before signing off his computer. His hand absentmindedly reached for the small token the Marinette had given him just last summer. It was a river stone that she had engraved with the name he had first called her; Hobi.
He spun the stone several times before gently setting it back in its rightful spot. If he wanted to help his love, then he was going to need more chaotic energy than his own. Picking up his phone, Damian dialed a number he had learned by heart over the years. The phone had barely rung twice before the man answered.
âWhat up demon spawn? Ready to cause some trouble for dear old dad?â
Damian rolled his eyes trying not to imagine what Jason couldâve possibly meant. Instead, he turned his focus to the task at hand.
âThis is more important Todd. Marinette needs our help.â
There was a momentary pause on the other side of the phone and for a brief second, Damian was tempted to check to see if Jason had accidentally hung up on him. (it wouldnât have been the first time.) He was both relieved and perplexed when a sound rang through the background that was suspiciously similar to a gun being loaded.
âWell, why didnât you start with that Damian? Who exactly do I have to kill?â
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Â . . .
Career week couldnât come to an end fast enough for Marinette. Hearing Lilaâs false tears over her Damiboo and favorite brother-in-law not being able to make it despite her constant begging was both infuriating and a bit nauseating. She was almost certain that if Damian heard the word Damiboo uttered in a half-mile radius of himself, he would bring down his sword on that personâs neck.
âAlright class, settle down.â Madame Bustier walked into the room, an ear-splitting grin accompanying her. âWe have a few very special guests to finish off this Career Week. In fact, one of your own classmates made this meeting happen!â
The class muttered excitedly as all eyes landed on Lila in the front row. Marinette placed her head on her desk, ignoring Adrienâs hand attempting to rub calming circles in her back. She was 100% done with this week.
âPlease welcome Bruce Wayne and his associates here to talk about the world of Entrepreneurship.â
Several jaws hit the desks as Bruce walked in, Jason and Damian in tow, all wearing bright smiles. Marinette sat up so fast that her back crushed Adrienâs hand into the bench behind them.
âOuch, excited much my lady?â
Marinette ignored his teasing as her eyes narrowed in on her boyfriend standing in the front of the room, an absolute shit-eating grin gracing his face.
âOh no.â Adrien followed her stare down to the boy in the front of the room, instantly feeling a dislike for him. If his lady was uncomfortable, then so was he.
âThank you for having me Madame Bustier and on such short notice. I realize that Marinette said it would only be my son Dick Grayson, but seeing as he was away for a business trip, I just knew I couldnât leave our favorite Parisian high and dry.â
There was an instant silence across the room as all eyes turned from where Lila sat in the front row to where Marinette sat in the back. She wanted to shrink in her seat and disappear from the number of people looking at her, but it felt impossible.
âAnyways, I would like to start my presentation by stating-â
âExcuse me, sir!â Alyaâs hand shot into the air, her stare intense as some of Gothamâs finest.
âUhm I havenât covered any information yet Miss, did you have a question about my flight?â
A few chuckles sounded throughout the classroom, but that didnât seem to stop Alya as she stood, her arms crossed in front of her body.
âI believe you owe my best friend an apology. Marinette didnât get you here, Lila did.â
Bruceâs eyebrows furrowed as he looked back to where Jason and Damian stood.
âI didnât get your girlfriendâs name wrong, did I, Damian?â
Damian shook his head, his grin pulling into a smirk as his eyes met Marinetteâs.
âI would hope you didnât father. After all, you have known her for years now.â
Bruce nodded thoughtfully as if considering Damianâs information as a possibility.
âSo as I was saying, thanks to Marinette-â
âYou mean Lila? Damian, how could you mix up your own fiancee with a shell of a human being like Marinette.â
Damian took a step forward, one hand on his shoulder holding him back as Jason sent a wink in his direction.
âMadame Bustier, if I understood right, Brucie here offered a free trip for your class to the Thailand location this winter if they could sit through just one measly presentation. Are you really going to let this rude child ruin that for the rest of the class?â
Bustierâs smile wavered as she turned her attention to where Alya sat, motioning for her to sit and zip her lips. With a great huff of annoyance, Alya compiled.
âExcellent, now that we can begin-â
âIâm just saying, Mr. Wayne. Lila did all this hard work, attended all your charity functions, helped your cityâs heroes, and is betrothed to your son. How could you not recognize her?â
Madame Bustier tried to wave Alya down once more but it was useless.
âAlya, is it?â the girl nodded confidently as she slung her arm around Lilaâs shoulders. âI suggest that whoever this Lila person is, you should reconsider your friendship with her. If you or she were caught spreading rumors about another billionaire besides myself, you might not make it off so easily. We take defamation very seriously as it could hurt our empires. Take that as lesson one for Entrepreneurship; always know who youâre working with.â
Alyaâs mouth gaped like a fish out of water as she slipped back down into her seat, her eyes burning holes into the side of Lilaâs head. With the new peace, Bruce continued his presentation with the full attention of the rest of the class. When the time came for questions, every hand but two were raised high.
âHow about you sir? The blonde in the back beside Marinette.â
Adrien stood, his eyes narrowed in on Damian.
âYou said the first lesson was to always know who youâre working with, well, did you know that your son is a liar?â
Another round of hushed whispers echoed through the room as Adrien took the first step down toward the front of the classroom. Bruce cocked his head to the side as he instinctively put out a hand to catch Damian before he could move forward.
âHow would you justify that kid?â
Adrien stepped closer, his posture rigid as his stare never left Damianâs face.
âWell, heâs been telling you that heâs been dating Marinette, but that is a lie. Marinette is my girlfriend.â
Damianâs fist curled as Jason took a step to intercept the two boys.
âI think you forgot to put a space between the girl and friend sir. You see, demon spawn here and pixie pop up there are together, no space. You and pixie pop are just friends.â
Everyoneâs eyes shifted uneasily between the men, unsure of who was going to strike first. No one was given the chance as Marinette raced down the stairs, pulling Bustier to the side. Her whispers were harsh and rushed and when she pulled back, all the color from the teacherâs face had drained.
âThatâs enough Adrien, I wouldnât want to bother your father over an inconvenience like this.â
The boy's mouth closed tightly as he turned his attention to where Marinette stood, a sudden feeling of nausea coursing through him. Did she really just pull that card here? In front of everyone?
He couldnât say a word as he marched back to his seat, ignoring the many questions that were thrown his way.
âWell, Iâm sorry to everyone that had real questions, but this stunt seemed to have taken up all of my time. Madam Bustier, do you mind if I check Marinette out of school early?â
The teacher could only nod as the men swept Marinette out of the room before she could protest. She waited until they had reached the car before turning on the men, hitting each of them as hard as she could. Three simultaneous owâs sounded through the courtyard.
âPixie pop, what was that for?â Jasonâs whining was shut down instantly with one cold look.
âI told you all not to come! You totally just made everything worse.â
Bruce risked a step forward as he pulled her into a hug.
âMarinette, you mean the world to this family. Defamation to the Wayne family needs to be shut down instantly. That Alya girl is bad for your emotional state, the Lila one as well.â
Marinette tried to deny his accusations, but Bruce refused to hear any of it. He pulled back, opening the door to push Jason inside, slamming it shut before he could fight back. With the other two gone, Marinette was forced to face her boyfriend.
âHobi-â
âDonât start with your cute nicknames. What was that scene with Adrien?â
âHe was the jealous one! I canât help if he tried to attack me.â Damian crossed his arms in defiance, ignoring the daggers Marinetteâs eyes were shooting.
âYou know heâs just a friend mon amour, you are the only one I want.â
Damian grumbled under his breath as he allowed himself to be pulled into Marinetteâs embrace. After a few minutes, he pulled back, a curiosity overtaking his face.
âWhat did you say to the teacher to cause her to stifle Agreste?â
Marinetteâs smile was devilish. It would almost be cute if it wasnât so terrifying.
âI just reminded her that defamation was taken very seriously and that if she didnât stop Adrien, he could have started a full-blown legal battle between two very powerful men, leaving the school and her job in the crossfires.â
Damian placed a kiss on her forehead before moving towards the car.
âHobi, you amaze me at every turn.â
Marinette rolled her eyes as she allowed him to help her into the car. She would deny till her last breath that she was grateful for that particular Career Day, but the one thing she couldnât deny was how much she loved the Wayne boys.

MLB x DC Universe Headcannons
I just love the idea of MLB and DC (expecially Batfam cuz Mari is such a Wayne) being in the same universe and crossing over. So one night, I just had an idea overload of different ways the Marinette would know the batfam/be a part of the DC universe. And if any of my shitty ideas somehow inspire or prompt you, then please be my guest. đ _
1) âLadybugs of Past and Presentâ
Hippolyta, Wonder Womanâs mother, was once a previous holder of the ladybug miraculous. When Fu activated the miraculous and put them in circulation, Hippolyta could feel its magic waking back up. Knowing there must a reason for it to be out, she sent a message to her daughter. Diana searched, finding Marinette and Adrien as the present holders of the ladybug and cat miraculous. She vouched and brought them into the Young Justice program while they also made their own team, Project: Zodiac (or something like that).
[Sometime when Diana takes Marinette to meet Hippolyta]
âGreat Hera, Tikki, you have not aged a dayâ -Hippolyta, cause she does know how to make joke.Â
âAnd I would say the same to youâ -Tikki
âMother, you can make a laugh?â -Wonder Woman, honestly a bit confused cause her mom have never not been serious before.
And Marinette is just speechless cause sheâs starstruck meeting Wonder Womanâs mom AND a previous Ladybug holder.
_
2) âRockstar Nieceâ
Jagged Stone is Marinetteâs Sweet Uncle J. During the summers, Jagged Stone would take Mari with him on tour. HIs summer tours are throughout America, so Mari gets to sightsee the country. Jaggedâs first tour that he gets to take Mari on (5-ish), heâs also booked for the annual (for whatever reason) Wayne Summer Gala. When Marinette meets the Waynes, they are so enamoured (Dick and Tim couldnât help it) that they tell Jagged heâs always invited as a guest, Mari of course being added to the permanent guest list too. About 6 years later, Mari is practically adopted, spending the first half of her summers with Jagged, going to the Wayne Gala, then spending the rest of her summer with the Waynes. Overtime, she figured out the secrets of the family and was there to welcome Jason back from the dead (when that happens). Anyways, now 11(-ish?) Mari meets Damian and the two become good friends⊠after an⊠impressionable first meeting.
âTch, let me guess, youâre another one of fatherâs adopted straysâ -Dami
âYOU MUST BE DAMIAN!!! DICK TOLD ME ABOUT YOU!!â -Marinette, who just ignores what he said for a hug.
âhiiiiiiiiissssssssâ -Dami, touchy with touch
â...â sprays water in his face since he decided to act like a cat.
âI say, Master Bruce, the children are getting along quite wellâ -Alfred
_
3) âPen PalsâÂ
Jon Kent and Marinette Dupain-Cheng are part of an international pen-pal program, starting when they were very young (maybe like 4 or 5-ish, super super young) where they told each other everything (Jon canât just say that his older bro is a clone made from Superman and Lex Luthorâs DNA, or that his dad is Superman, or that his best friend is Robin, but yea. Lois and Clark probably proofread his stuff until heâs like 9) with pictures and everything. When theyâre old enough to get phones & stuff, they call, text and vid-chat along with their letters (love without blood). When Mari is maybe 9-11 (somewhere around there) she starts flying over during the summers to hangout with Jon (and his friends and big brother). While there, she meets Kon, Bat fam, and Clark (some who she already knew, some who she didnât) & lightly hints that she knows who all they are once she figures it out (it didnât take her long to do so).Â
Now whenever she visits and is at Wayne Manor (Jon likes to have sleepovers practically every weekend) while theyâre on patrol, Mari subtly messes with their minds (super subtle, theyâre the worldâs best detectives after all) until they finally look through the cams and see Mari giving them one of those smiles (those shit-grinning cause itâs just so hilarious how itâs gone on for so long) & and a playful wink.Â
[5 seconds later]
âMari!â âPixie-pop!â âAngel!â âTeacup!â
âSeriously, am I the only one with a normal nickname for her?â -Tim
âMs. Marinette would like to inform you that âit took you long enoughââ -Alfred (who so knows that the girl has been playing them since the third night she stayed at the Wayneâs)
âWhere are my adoption papers?â -Bruce (who is seriously adopting any talented black-haired child)
_
4) âMari and MarâiâÂ
When Marâi is young, Dick and Kori take her with them to see Paris (btw, this would be during the winter). Theyâre strolling along through a park and lose track of Marâi who finds Marinette (9-10 ish). Marinette comforts and distracts Marâi while noticing the young(er) girl is Tameranian (her hair is very warm and sheâs wearing significantly less layers than should be worn for a human of that age during the winter, plus that sun-kissed skin tone. Sheâs seen Kori in her fashion magazines (and, from time to time, on the news as an ambassador) so she easily make the connections). Dick and Kori finally spot Marâi with Mari who introduces herself to them. Marâi asks if she can see her âAuntinetteâ again and Marinette just goes âif your parents are okay with it.â Dick and Kori are totally cool with it (not many are willing to watch her and have the time to do it) so they ask Marinette if she can babysit Marâi whenever (with good pay of course) if sheâs up to it (cause sheâs still pretty young). Marinette canât say no to Marâiâs babydoll eyes (and sheâs so much easier compared to Manon, whoâs only 2 rn), so of course, she says yes.Â
Now Marinette is Marâis official babysitter and sees Marâi often whenever her parents drop her off (using zeta tubes to quickly get to Paris and back). Marinette gets treated like an honorary Wayne (cause sheâs the most responsible) and gets invited to their family stuff (w/ travel pay taken care of, of course). It doesnât take her long to realize the fact that she babysits Bruce Wayneâs & BATMANâS granddaughter, but of course, being the responsible one she is, keeps the secret⊠while also playing with them via Marâi.
[One Day]
After Marinette leaves for her planeâŠ
âUncle Dami!â
âYes, Spawn?â
âAuntinette said to tell you after she left that Robinâs sut needs a major upgrade & that you look like a traffic light⊠whatever thatâs supposed to mean.â
[Another Day]
âUncle Jay!â
âWhatâs up kid?â
âAuntinette said that to let you know that Red Hood doesnât make any sense âcause Red Hood wears a helmet. Not a hood.â
[The next time]
âUncle Tim!â
Yawn. âyea?â
âAuntie told me to give you thisâ (pulls out super caffeinated coffee) âand that Red Robinâs cowl is a menace to all things fashionâ
[AgainâŠ]Â
âDaddy!â
âYes, Starshine?â
âAuntienette said sheâs proud of Nightwingâs costume âcause itâs one of the only in the batfam that isnât an astro-city to the fashion society.â

5) âMarinette, the one whoâs always getting chosenâ
Before Mari became (becomes(?)) LB, she comes across a different powerful piece of jewelry, from a different order of guardians where her will of mind is not only her shield from being akumatized, but it is also what drives her powers. Thatâs right, Mari walks past a flea market and activates a GL ring. The guardians pick up on this activity and send Hal (it is his sector) to check it out. Hal finds the ring with Mari but it still needs the light of a GL to charge and fully work.Â
[During the explanation]
âLook, kid-â
âMarinette.âÂ
âLook, kid, I just need to know why you have that ring.â
âYou think I know? I was just walking through the market and all of a sudden, this possessed ring, if thatâs even what this is, started following me, then zipped in front of my face til i held my hand up so it can put itself on my finger.âÂ
âKid-â
âItâs MARINETTE. Get it wrong one more time and youâll see why I donât need a possessed piece of alien jewelry.â -Marinette, making sure you get her name right. âBesides, if I stole it, I would remember. Iâm a kleptoâ -Marinette, probably holding his ring too at this point.
Hal obviously doesnât want the wrath of the Dupain-Chengs (just the kid Marinette scares him enough), so he tells the guardians that JL will take care of most of Mariâs training (once they get her a lamp for her ring, of course) & has her take part in training at Mt. Justice with the Young Justice team and special training with the Bats. Mari does all this under the guise of an international student exchange program for Mari to stay with the Waynes (not yet knowing that itâs the bat fam) and attends G.A. Mari doesnât do much, but it takes her 24-36 hours to know who EVERYONE is.
[the next week after settling in]
âHey, Mars,â -Dick, in his Nightwing gear
âHey, Di-is the GREATEST SHOW!â -Mari, changing the subject(⊠not really)
âHow long did it take you?â
âNot as long as the KryptoniansâŠâ -Mari, going off into a tangent (still trying to change the subjectâ
[When Marinette meets Tikki]
Back in Paris:
âSooo⊠Iâm getting powerful jewelry that gives me powers and a suit, needs to be recharged, and comes from some Order of the Guardians? Whatâs the difference between you and my ring?â -Marinette, who at this point is very confused as to why she keeps getting picked on for this kind of stuff.Â
âOneâs alien, oneâs magicâ -Tikki, hoping Mari will end it there & lowkey hates that the GL Corp. got to her first.
âTheyâre both non-human made energy sourcesâ -Mari, cause once youâve seen it once, youâve seen it all before.Â
âYou canât heal the Akuma without the miraculous, and there are more than just rings. Yours are earrings, there are hair clips, bracelets, necklaces and moreâ -Tikki, after having a minute to think
âFine, only because you said theyâre the only way to heal the, what was it again, akuma?â
_
6) âTheir Unofficial Official Baristaâ
Part of Timâs job as Co-CEO, is to make sure all the branches are running smoothly, sometimes that means he has to fly abroad to manually check in. Tim goes to Paris to check on the W.E. Paris branch. He goes to a nearby Patisserie (Tom and Sabineâs) to see a young Marinette (somewhere from 8-11) drawing in her sketchbook at the counter. She explains that her parents are at a catering event, but sheâs there to man the little bakery. Tim asks for a super caffeinated coffee and Marinette makes it with ease, claiming it was on the house with how bad he looks (and how much sleep the man clearly needs). Tim begs for her knowledge and asks if she can teach his butler. Mariâs willing to show him the next time he comes, so he gets the whole fam to go (viz tubes so they donât waste time) maybe a week later. Everyone gets their own drink (plus a free pastries) and Marinette teaches Alfred her coffee, but itâs just not the same so Tim, using the tubes, goes to get coffee from the girl whenever he can.Â
Mari is horrible at getting up on time (the life of an insomniac, never getting to sleep even if you want and then barely waking up on time) that she is up super early, makes Tim his coffee (plus a croissant) and tries to go back to sleep (making her inevitably late). Tim would walk up to the pick-up counter where his cup and to-go bag is while Marinette runs out of the house to get to school. Eventually, the rest of the Batfam (as well as the Laegue, TT, and YJ) frequent the place, slowly becoming (Dami too)Â Mari hides it, but she knew all the batfam the first day they came and she showed Alfred how to make the coffee. When the others start making more regular appearances, she learns the identities of YJ team, WW, GLs, and others. Obviously when LB and CN appear as heroes with HM as their villain, they immediately reach out to help. Because 1. Batfam clearly notices that itâs Mari and they sure as heck wonât let her deal with that by herself, and 2. The JL is worrying too much about their favorite barista (even though sheâs not really one), especially with the Gigantitan scare. So, of course LB & CN (canât make him bad everytime) get inducted into YJ.
[After Ladybug finishes defeating Gigantitan and detransforms]Â
âBean! Are you okay? Youâre not hurt, are you?â -Tim, being an even more protective older brother than Dick, which shouldnât be possible
âYes, I promise. Iâm fineâ -Marinette, who just accepts the fact that sheâs adopted an older brother (and his famliy)
âTube over, weâll have Alfred make sureâ -Dick, already pulling out the medical supplies for Alfred.
âI-âÂ
âYou shouldnât worry your brothers like that, Marinette. Now come over so Alfred can clear you,â -Bruce, who just happens to overhear the conversation
âIâm sorry, Miss Marinette, they are very adamant that youâre in pitch perfect health before going out again,â -Alfred, whoâs not actually sorry
âFineâ -Marinette, accepting her fate of her adopted, protective family.Â
_
7)Â âThicker Than the Blood Weâve Shedâ
Why is Marinette so freakishly strong? Because she was trained to be. Before she could even talk, Mari was taught to be an assassin. She and Damian were frenemies, both competing for top spot as best in the League (of Assassins). They often spared together and became rivals who pushed each other (which sounds great in that context if you forget about the fact that theyâre killing people and turning it into a competition). When Damianâs care is turned over to Batsy, Mari also comes along for the ride. She implements herself into Damiâs classes at G.A. & watches him from afar. (Damian, not being an idiot, of course knows all this and knows that itâs probably for Mari to give a report to Talia.) When he becomes Robin, Mari obviously knows, but waits to see if anything drastic would happen (his care was given to the Batfam, they had already expected this to happen.) She then heard word of the bounty Talia put on Damianâs head. Marinette knew there wouldnât be much she could do to help, but she ave Dami a warning about the upcoming situation before fleeing the country.Â
From there she got to France, changed her name (it wasnât originally Marinette, it was ShĂ©nqĂ, chinese for miraculous/magical (or something else if you want)), was adopted by Tom & Sabine, and left her time in the League in the past. When she received Tikki, she didnât want to be a hero because she didnât think she deserved it after her up-bringing. Eventually, she did become LB (being a trained assassin does help with lucky charms, considering she was taught how to kill with basically every and anything), and life was good for her. Then Rossi came.
[Gotham field trip]
While at Wayne TowerâŠ
âHow idiotic are they?â -Damian, who after reuniting with his long-lost sister-from-a-different-mister (yes, Marinette was able to convince him to say it once), canât understand the stupidity she has to deal with.
âAre you Robin?â -Mari, who is too tired, so just goes straight into the analogy
âYes.â -Obvious and simply is.
âExactlyâ -Mari, who canât even put a limit to the amount of thought the one brain cell the class shares doesnât use. I mean please, the so-called âreporterâ believed that the first cosplayer she saw was the actual LB when they donât even have the same hair! And letâs not forget the origins arc, where LBâs first citizen save was Chloe.

Giving Home a Heartbeat - @doubleredweek Day 7
Read on AO3
Jasonâs pretty sure that somewhere underneath all these boxes is the house they bought, heâs just not quite sure where.
âJay Jay, Daddy stopped picking up boxes and sat down, so Iâm picking up the slack!â Lian shouts over the distinct scraping sound of cardboard. Jason turns and there she is walking backwards her tiny hands pulling a box along thatâs practically the same size as her not even breaking a sweat. Sometimes Jason thinks they really need to ask Jade about any superhuman abilities she might be hiding that could have been passed down.
Jason shakes his head and walks over to her lifting the box and sitting it over with the rest of the living room Jenga stack of cardboard boxes that is their life.
âGood work princess,â Jason says ruffling her hair as she sidles up next to him looking at all the boxes with a much more gleeful look on her face than the one heâs sporting.
âI am not slacking,â Roy shouts with a struggling groan. Jason turns back to the door watching as Roy takes a step through with three heavy boxes precariously stacked on top of one another in his arms blockading Royâs body almost entirely from view. Jason rushes over to his side taking the highest one revealing Royâs head his messy hair dripping with sweat and poking out wildly from underneath his backwards cap.
âThese are the last ones and I just didnât want to make numerous trips,â he grunts shifting the boxes in his arms. âDick and Babs are taking the truck back and sweetly said they will not be coming back to help us unpack.â Jason rolls his eyes eight siblings, one younger than them aunt, two pseudo sisters-in-laws, a literal space traveling brother-in-law, three parental figures and one grandfatherly figure between the two of them and not one of them stuck around long enough to put all these boxes through the front door.
âWe donât know exactly how you want everything set up,â Connor had justified as he and Kyle started floating up into the sky and away as soon as the truck was full as if Jason, Roy and especially Lian wouldnât happily boss them around with instructions of where to place things.
Stephanie, Tim and Damian even had the audacity to eat half the moving day pizza on their own, pick up one box together and then disappear. Teamwork Steph had called it before high fiving Roy and running after her boyfriend. Chaotic bisexuals Roy had sighed as they sped away on her motorcycle Damian already long gone slipping off like a silent shadow in the mid-day.
At least Roy and Jason hadnât had to pay for the pizza they got one shared slice of, after twenty minutes of arguing about who should pay Oliver and Bruce had settled on splitting. Though knowing Bruce Jason would bet he added on a bigger tip when Ollieâs back was turned just to spite him.
âDo you think the Aqua Family treat each other this way?â Jason says watching as Lian tosses a small box up on the still covered in plastic couch and starts tearing at the tape.
âI bet they swim across the seven seas and happily move their familyâs underwater dĂ©cor without complaint,â Roy says as he slips behind Jason resting his chin on Jasonâs shoulder. Together they survey the room with the knowledge that every other room in the house looks much the same, a labyrinth of boxes. Itâs gonna take them weeks to unpack all the stuff from the workshop alone.
âI know we donât know her as well as my dad and Bruce, but do you think if we put in a call to Zatanna sheâd just,â Roy says flicking his hands around Jasonâs waist in a pale comparison to the intricate patterns Jasonâs seen her do in battle. âYa know, poof and weâre unpacked.â
âI donât think thatâs gonna happen,â Jason sighs. Lian has fully opened the box now pulling out item after item that definitely all belong in the kitchen not on their living room couch.
Roy faux cries burying his face in Jasonâs neck sadly. Jason reaches up a hand only slightly condescendingly patting at Royâs head.
âAlright, we gotta start somewhere. Lianâs room is the priority, you and I have slept on far more uncomfortable things than a plastic wrapped couch,â he says, theyâve already got a start in there anyways thanks to Alfred the only member of their families whoâs not an ingrate setting up her pink and green matching bed, bookshelf, desk and wall shelves without even being asked. Jason surveyâs the room eyes falling over to the kitchen. âIâd say we shoot for finishing the kitchen tonight too, but we can always just order takeout again.â
âMore pizza!â Lian squeals in delight twirling a bundle of measuring cups around and around in one hand.
âNo, weâll get something else,â Roy says and Lianâs face drops just a little. âSomething with lots of vegetables, like Thai maybe.â She perks back up at that.
âAs long as I donât have to eat peas,â she grumbles trading the measuring cups out for a ladle she taps delightedly on the boxes flap.
âFine, no peas,â Jason says slipping away from Roy and grabbing the box Lian has been playing around with as she shouts triumphantly about the lack of peas in her future. He tosses the things sheâs taken out of the box back in and slides it onto the kitchen counter to deal with later.
âGo to your room and start unpacking the boxes labeled books first okay,â Roy says lifting her up from the couch her legs sticking to the plastic as he does and settling her feet on the ground. âPut some on the lower shelves, but donât try to reach the high shelves without Jay or Iâs help okay?â
Lian nods furiously skittering off clapping her hands in joy, her light up Scooby Doo shoes going wild with every step.
âPromise, Daddy!â she shouts as she hightails it up the stairs and turns the corner sharply. A light thud earns their attention as soon as she disappears from sight followed by silence.
âLian?â Jason shouts after her already braced to rush the stairs if she doesnât respond instantly. Roy does the same.
âIâm okay, I just kicked a box over!â she shouts back and they both breathe a sigh of relief. âAnd it knocked over two more!â she says with utter delight causing them both to chuckle.
âIf we want to get this house done before sheâs out of high school, weâre gonna need to send her for an archery range day with grandpa tomorrow,â Roy says walking over to Jason. He hops up onto the kitchen island kicking his feet out back and forth.
âAnd maybe an ice cream day with aunt Emiko the day after that, just in case,â Jason adds on as he settles himself between Royâs dangling legs his back to Royâs front. Roy wraps his arms back around him, placing his chin back where it had been in the living room.
They both gaze out across the rooms, across their home, across what it will be in a few daysâ time. Jason never thought heâd call Star City home, hell he never thought heâd get out of the Narrows, but here he is a homeowner with a man he fully intends to keep for the rest of his life and a little girl he considers his daughter.
âItâs gonna look great when itâs all set up,â Roy says nuzzling his face softly to Jasonâs temple. âThe perfect mix of superhero chic and parents of a five-year-old who only occasionally cleans up after herself.â
âAn interior designers dream,â Jason chuckles leaning back further into Royâs arms.
âJadeâs gonna hate it,â Roy laughs.
âOh god, Iâll fly Alfred out to help me clean just to be sure itâs spotless when the time comes. When does she get back from South America?â
âThe fourteenth, sheâs taking Lian for the week, remember?â Roy says pressing a quick kiss to Jasonâs jaw. The fourteenth, thatâs plenty of time to make it look itâs best to at least cut her sly judgements in half.
Theyâre quiet for a while comfortably listening to the rustling sound of Lian tearing tape off of boxes above them. Sheâs probably gonna be wrapped in it by the time they get up here.
âWe own a house,â Jason says breaking the comfortable quiet still stunned by the fact theyâve made it here. Six years ago he walked away from Roy, the worst mistake heâs ever made, and somehow impossibly when he came crawling back Roy welcomed him with open arms and now theyâre here. It feels almost too good to be true.
Roy nods and Jason can feel his smile against his neck.
âYour stuck with me now Jaybird,â he chuckles and Jason pulls Royâs arms around him tighter, happily stuck. They bask in each otherâs arms a little longer when the sound of tape gets louder and more prominent followed by a giggle and comical âoopsâ from Lian.
âWe better go help her before she mummifies herself in packing tape,â Roy chuckles slipping out from behind Jason and making his way to the stairs taking them two at a time. Jason hangs back for a moment just looking one last time at the space in front of him, looking at their home before following the sounds of tape being unwrapped from clothes and the laughter of the two most important people in his world.

Bats Bugs and Boomerangs Chapter 1
A/N: Hey everyone, coming at you with another series! This is actually for a late secret santa gift exchange! My recipient was @m3owwwâ! Her fandoms were Maribat and Avatar the Last Airbender, so I thought: Why not both? She already had a Maribat characters in the show type fic, so I created a fic where they watched the show. It slowly spiraled out of control though, so this is Chapter 1. Iâll eventually have the batfam (and Marinette) react to the whole series, so comment here and on ao3 what you want to see. So Phi, this is kinda like the gift that will keep on giving? Maybe? I hope you like it anyway. Enjoy!Â
Our story begins on a frosty winter evening, outside Gotham at Wayne Manor. Marinette sat in the library working on an assignment for her History of Fashion class. She was alone, because Damian, Dick, Tim, and Bruce were out on patrol, with Barbara on comms. Tikki, unless eating or involved with a transformation, spent her time sleeping due to the freezing weather. While the other Kwami either resided in the box or roamed the grounds, and generally stayed out of the human's way.
Marinette gazed out the window, snow falling softly through the air, covering the ground and the tree branches. A crackling fire warmed the room. She shifted, and a painful ache shot through her leg. Marinette glared at the offending appendage, which was the reason she wasnât out with the team tonight.
Her Miraculous could cure any injury sustained on the battlefield, it didnât help her one bit when it came to her own natural clumsiness. She hadnât paid attention as sheâd walked out of class one evening. The dim lighting hid a black ice patch and she slipped and fell. Thankfully, her ankle was only sprained and not broken, but she would be out of commission for at least two weeks. Probably more if Alfred got his way.
Speaking of the elderly butler, he strode into the room carrying a tray of tea and cookies.
âGood evening Miss. Marinette. Need another refreshment?â
She sighed at the cold coffee dregs in her mug. âThat would be nice, thank you, Alfred.â
He hummed, grabbing a teacup, and pouring her a serving. âHow does your leg feel today? I notice you were leaning heavily on Master Damian after supper.â He handed the cup to her and the warmth was a welcome sensation for her chilled hands.
âYeah, heâs been nice helping me around.â Nice was a misnomer, more like extremely overprotective. He point-blank refused for her to stay at her own apartment, mostly due to its location on the fourth floor with no elevator access. He all but forced her to watch him pack her essentials to bring to the manor while she recovered. Since then, his attentiveness in ensuring she had what she needed within reach and helping her to class had grown. It was a tad smothering considering his usual aloofness, but she enjoyed his actions for the affection it implied.
âItâs throbbing and hot and feels worse than it did three days ago.â She took a tiny sip of the tea and relaxed into its spiced aroma. Alfred made the best tea. Â
He nodded. âIt will feel uncomfortable for a while until it starts to mend. Just continue to rest and remain off it and you will be back to carousing around the city like the rest of them in no time.â He poured his own tea and seated himself in the plush armchair across from her spot on the couch.
âOh, Alfred you say that as if you would not be right there along with us if age allowed,â said Marinette with a grin. The stories Dusu could recount about the elderly miraculous holder were nothing short of entertaining, and she knew damn well Alfred had the same need for action as the rest of the Waynes and their assorted allies. Â
âIâd do nothing of the sort,â he said primly, taking a sip of his tea to hide the tiny smirk on his face. Marinette couldnât help but laugh.
The rest of the evening was spent in pleasant silence. Despite the pain in her leg Marinette pushed through it and finished her assignment, while Alfred read until it neared time when patrol ended. He bustled up the remains of the tea and promise her a fresh cup when he finished seeing everyone arrive safely.
Later, although she could not say how long, she was buried deep in a book and didnât notice when Damian entered the room until he sat next to her on the couch.
âGood evening angel.â His hair flopped in his eyes, loose and damp from the shower. In his hands, he held a tray with two cups of steaming tea.
âThanks.â She took the proffered cup of tea with a smile. âHow was patrol?â
âBoring,â he sighed. âYou certainly are not missing anything.â If he wouldnât have taken offense to it, Marinette would have described the look on his face as a pout.
âWhat about the drug seller Tim tracked to the lower docks?â
Damian shrugged. âGone silent after we busted the last shipment. Seventeen years in and maybe the criminals finally figured out committing crimes in the same city as a relentless vigilante team is a bad idea,â he said with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. Marinette couldnât stop herself from giggling. It was a common joke among the family that Gothamâs criminals never learned.
âI think it means weâre doing our job right,â said Tim walking in with a steaming mug. Marinette opened her mouth, but he cut her off. âDonât worry, itâs decaf.â
âLike Pennyworth would let him drink anything else this time of night,â scoffed Damian, while taking a sip of his tea.
âIâm perfectly capable of monitoring my own caffeine intake, thanks,â Tim said in offense, seating himself across from the couch in the reading chair previously abandoned by Alfred.
âNo, youâre not,â called a voice from the hallway. Dick walked in with a large mug of what was undoubtedly hot chocolate. âThe last time he didnât check your drink after patrol, you used coffee instead of water to brew another pot, and then added four whole bottles of five-hour energy. You didnât sleep for three days.â
âI also solved five crimes, figured out where the Penguin was hiding, and streamlined the dropbox submission system for Wayne Industries. Life requires tradeoffs.â
âNo thatâs just you, ignoring basic human necessities. Anyway, besides Timâs caffeine addiction, what are we talking about?â asked Dick.
âThe reason for the lack of crime,â offered Marinette.
Dick shrugged, âHappens every year because of the weather. Even criminals get cold. Theyâll return to their usual transgressions once the weather warms.â He took a sip of his hot chocolate.
âTt. Weak,â muttered Damian.
Tim rolled his eyes. âNot everyone receives extreme weather training under threat of dismemberment, demon brat. We should take the opportunity to enjoy the break.â
âTim, your version of a âbreakâ involves paperwork,â chided Dick.
âItâs not my fault the rest of you people donât have lives. Iâm a remarkably busy person. And what is this, the-criticize-Tim-hour?â
âOh, only an hour?â smirked Damian. âI thought it was a continuous event, one could choose to participate in whenever the mood struck. I will have to file all my complaints immediately.â
Tim pouted. âMarinette,â he whined. âCanât you control him?â
She shrugged, âWhat do you expect me to do? Iâm his girlfriend, not his minder. Besides, they criticize because they care.â She laughed when all three boys snarled their noses at the prospect of feelings.
âMarinette, angel, please; never say that again. I criticize because I am right, and they should know it. Not because of any high-minded ideals such as genuine affection.â
âOkay, okay, enough,â said Dick. âIf we have a bit of a break, we should do something! Together, as a family. I think Cass and Steph come back in two days.â
âGrayson, just because your girlfriend is off-world visiting family and you have nothing to do does not mean it holds true for the rest of us.â
âExactly!â exclaimed Tim, âExcept not quite, because I donât have a girlfriend, but I just said Iâm busy. R&D is rolling out a new prototype next week, and I have two board meetings scheduled and-â
âNot to mention,â Marinette cut Tim off. He could talk about his schedule forever because he just had that many events. âI canât move around, what would we even do? Play games?â
Tim rolled his eyes. âThe list of games officially banned in our family includes, but is not limited to; Monopoly, Uno, Checkers, Risk, Risk: Legacy, Twister, Jenga, Clue, Guess Who, Poker, Chess, and Go Fish.â
âOhâŠâ muttered Marinette.
âAnd that doesnât even include videogames.â
âAfter the Wii Bowling incident of 2013, the media room wall was never the same,â Dick said, shaking his head in despair.
âI actually apologized for that, okay?â exclaimed Damian. âWhy do you always have to bring it up?â
Marinette fully intended to ask about the incident later. âOkay, so games are out.â
âOoh,â Dickâs eyes lit up, âHow about we call a Family T.V. Event?â
Tim groaned, âThe last time we did that we blew up the shed, and got the police called.â
âWell, we wonât watch a crime show.â Dick turned to Marinette. âJason picked; we watched Breaking Bad.â
âI can see how that would spiral out of control.â
âThe time before that, we set fire to the media room and started a familial feud,â Damian pointed out. âGame of Thrones,â he added when Marinette looked to him for clarification.
âEven worse.â
âOkay, fine, so we donât have the best track record picking shows. But I swear I have a good one this time.â He paused for dramatic effect. âAvatar: The Last Airbender.â
Tim snorted. âWhat? Like the kidâs show?â
Damian rolled his eyes. âReally Grayson, a cartoon? I know you are developmentally stuck at five, but not all of us are.â
âIâve never watched it, but Iâve heard good things about it,â said Marinette. She knew there was a French translation of the show, but she preferred to watch media in its original language. Before moving to America, before dating Damian, her English had not been strong enough to confidently watch a show and understand all of it.
âPerfect!â exclaimed Dick. âI know you three and Cass havenât seen it, and neither has Bruce or Alfred. I would bet Jasonâs seen some of it, but Iâll have to check. Barbara and I have, but thatâs fine, she loves the show. Weâll have to see about Steph too, but Iâm sure sheâll enjoy it regardless. There are awesome characters, battles, suspense, comedy, and itâs not likely going to inspire us to blow up the shed or tear each other to pieces!â
âI have in no way agreed to this Grayson. Drake back me up.â
Tim paused for a moment, stuck between his need to disagree with Damian and the need to get out of Dickâs crazy plan. Unfortunately for Damian, the former won out. âActually, you know what, a show could be fun. The episodes are what, thirty minutes? Shorter than Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.â
Damian groaned while Dick responded happily, ignoring his brotherâs distress, âAround twenty minutes actually. We could have the whole show finished in about a week or so.â
Damian turned to her, eyes wide and hopeful. âMarinette, please tell me you are on my side?â
She patted her boyfriendâs arm, âSorry, mon amour, Iâm stuck either way. Might as well watch a show.â
Damian flopped against the couch with a pout. âBetrayed. I have been grievously betrayed by my own brothers and girlfriend. What is this world coming to?â
âWoo!â exclaimed Dick, a wide grin splitting his face. âThis is going to be great.â
âThis is going to be awful,â moaned Damian.

It took a bit of convincing on the part of Dick to get Bruce and Alfred to agree to the venture. Marinette, after learning the full details of the last two Family T.V. Events, was wholly unsurprised. She also did not know the full extent of what Dick did to get Jason to agree (apparently, he and Bruce were fighting, again, so this was expected.) although it probably involved a bribe. But by the weekâs end, the entire family was together, all under strict orders (and puppy-dog eyes from Dick) to be on their best behavior.
Which, without a doubt, not a single one of them knew what that entailed.
The arguing started with seating placement, then about who controlled the remote, then over the distribution of snacks, drinks, blankets, and pillows. At one point Jason pulled a knife, which prompted Damian to pull his knife, suddenly Cass had two shurikens visible (where she even kept them while wearing a tank top and shorts, no one could say), and then everyone was yelling with sharp pointy objects in hand.
Once the argument was firmly under control, Alfred collected the weapons and placed them in a wicker basket, along with all the mobile devices, until the episodes for the night were finished. The only one allowed to have a phone was Barbara who was in charge of checking police scanners for any major trouble while the family took the evening off.
Marinette seated herself curled up against Damian on the edge of the couch. She set her foot propped up on an ottoman so it wouldnât get jostled, and she could continue to ice it throughout the evening. Damian secured their own bowl of popcorn, so they didnât have to share it with the others.
âAlright, hereâs how weâre breaking this down,â announced Dick, who won the battle for the remote, and therefore the episode schedule. âThe episodes are short, at least, much shorter than the last show we watched.â He directed a pointed look at Jason.
âI make no apologies.â
âWeâll watch half a season a day, ten episodes apiece. The closed captions will be on but try to keep the chatter to a minimum.â Marinette held back a laugh. Damian explained no one kept quiet during these nights. Watching the show wasnât the point of these events; if that were the case then they would just watch it all on their own time. The point was the time spent together. This is why even Bruce, emotionally constipated and single-minded in his pursuits as he was, put away the suit for a few days to watch T.V. with the rest of his collected family. Talking was expected. Â
âWe will, if you will,â called Stephanie. Â
âI take offense to that.â
âAw just sit Dickie, letâs watch the show,â exclaimed Jason.
âYes, Grayson you already wrapped us into this pointless venture; we might as well get it over with,â Damian grumbled. Marinette found his hand in the folds of their shared blanket and laced her fingers with his. He squeezed her hand, and, when he was sure no one else was looking gave her a small smile. Marinette smiled back, he pretended to be such a grouch, but deep down he was a giant softy at heart.
Dick frowned, saying âFine, fine, you donât have to be spoilsports about it.â And pointed the remote at the T.V. starting the first episode.

It didnât take ten seconds before the commentary began.
âFour elements?â exclaimed Tim. âAre you serious? I could name at least a dozen off the top of my head. How are there only four nations? 0/10 completely unrealistic. Political infighting alone-â
âAh, shut up, replacement.â
âRuthless fire nation?â said Stephanie. âMethinks a little propaganda might be occurring here.â
âA hundred years!? What, has no one competent been born the entire time?â
Marinette shrugged. âThe disadvantages of finite magic systems, Dami. It's learned indifference.â
âHoney, after a hundred years thatâs not hoping, thatâs naivety,â said Stephanie in response to Kataraâs impassioned speech.
âSheâs right!â exclaimed Dick.
âWe know that, but she doesnât.â
The show moved on to Katara and Sokka in a boat. Sokka held a spear above the water.
âIs he hunting that fish?â growled Damian.
âAh yeah, I forgot you may hate the entirety of Sokkaâs character,â said Dick with a grimace. âWhoops.â
âSheâs not very good at the water moving, is she?â asked Marinette
âWaterbending,â Dick and Barbara said in unison.
Sokka chided Katara about her weird water magic. âOh, heâs not going to be a dick for the whole show, is he?â asked Steph.
âHe gets better.â
âThey grew up here right?â asked Damian, as Katara and Sokka become caught in a rapid. âHow did they not anticipate an event like this.â
âI knew I should have left you at home. Leave it to a girl to screw things up!â
âHEY!â shouted all the women in the room.
They watched as Kataraâs fury built and broke the iceberg behind her.
âGood. Use anger, anger is alright,â Cass commented for the first time.
âOkay, youâve gone from weird, to freakish.â
âThis punk is just asking for a beating isnât he,â growled Jason.
The beam of energy shot into the air after Katara and Sokka broke open the ice. âThatâs not going to cause any trouble,â said Tim, rolling his eyes. âNope, not suspicious or completely conspicuous at all.â
The scene switches to a metal ship.
âFinally! Uncle, do you realize what this means?â
âOh, look, the bad guys,â deadpanned Tim. âI was right.â
Jason grabbed a handful of popcorn and shoved it into his mouth âWhat happened to his fucked-up fa-â
âYOUâLL FIND OUT!â
The scene switched back to Katara and Sokka. The figure is revealed to be a hyperactive little kid.
Damian frownedâOh, I wonât like him either, will I Grayson?â
Dick tilted his head, âEh.â
Then Appa is introduced.
âFather, could we-â
âNo, Damian.â
They watched the children depart, and the scene moved back to the Fire Nation ship.
âEven if you're right, and the Avatar is alive, you won't find him. Your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all tried and failed.â
âWell considering the Airbender child has been in an iceberg, itâs not surprising they failed.â
âBecause their honor didn't hinge on the Avatar's capture. Mine does. This coward's hundred years in hiding are over.â
âIs it just me or does this angry, emo prince remind anyone of demon spawn?â
âTodd, shut your mouth before I remove your tongue.â Â
Marinette leaned in close, âMaybe just a little like you.â Damian looked at her with a betrayed pout.
The scene switched and they watched Aang lie to Katara about the Avatar.
âThe air child is guilty. Will cause problems later.â
âNarrative Cass, itâs narrative.â
Damian scoffed. âMiscommunication is plot convenience, and itâs a sloppy one at that.â
They watched Aangâs dream of how he ended up in the iceberg, him waking up to Katara and his introduction to the village.
âWell, no one has seen an Airbender in a hundred years. We thought they were extinct until my granddaughter and grandson found you.â
âExtinct?â
âHe went into the ice and woke up to find the world different. Anyone getting serious Captain America vibes here?â said Jason, tone-deaf to the clear horror on Aang's face.
âJason, he just found out his people potentially went extinct!â chided Marinette.Â
âIt's not for stabbing! It's for air bending.â
âPlease tell me the main character is not a pacifist,â begged Damian.
âWell, he is a monk,â said Barbara with a sorry look.
âI sense he's filled with much wisdom,â Katara says as Aang sticks his tongue to his staff and it freezes.
âI switch back and forth between liking this girl and not. One second sheâs got gumption, and the next sheâs all starry-eyed and naĂŻve,â grumbled Steph.
âI wonder who that reminds me of,â Damian whispered into Marinetteâs ear. She felt her cheeks heat up.
"I'm not naive," she shot back.Â
He raised a hand with two fingers close but not touching, "You're a little naive." Marinette huffed, but silently admitted to her boyfriend's point. She had a tendency to believe the best in people; she saw it as a strength and appreciated it in this Katara character, but it was so far from how Damian viewed the world, it honestly confused his siblings when they first started dating.Â
Damian confided in her that he found it inspiring. She had been through so much, understood the cruelties of others, and still could see the good in people.Â
The scene switched to the Fire Nation ship again, and Iroh explained the concept of firebending to an irate Prince Zuko.
âFinally, a display of actual competence,â exclaimed Damian.
âEnough! I've been drilling this sequence all day. Teach me the next set! I'm more than ready!â
âMy tutors would have skewered me if I dared to act in such a manner,â he commented again, softer than the first time. More so that only Marinette could hear. Damianâs family was more than aware of his childhood and what it entailed; Marinette slowly learned with comments like this. She squeezed his hand again and received a small smile.
The scene shifted back to the village where Sokkaâs failed âwarrior lessonâ occurred, and then-
âWe don't have time for fun and games with the War going on!â
âWhat war? What are you talking about?â
âWhere have you been, frozen in ice for a hundred years?â joked Dick.
They watched Aang offer to take Katara to the North Pole to find a water bending master. The two children go and play with the penguin creatures, but the tone shifted when an old Fire Nation ship appeared on the screen.
âBad shipâ muttered Cass.
âIf you want to be a bender, you have to let go of fear.â
âThere are so many things wrong with that statement I donât even know where to start,â said Tim.
They watch Aang and Katara enter the Fire Nation Ship and wander talking about the war.
âAang, how long were you in that iceberg?â
âI don't know. A few days, maybe?â
âI think it was more like a hundred years!â
âAre you kidding me?â yelled Jason. âHow are they just figuring this out now?â
On-screen Aang stepped on the line of wire, tripping the traps.
âTt. Amateurs.â
"See, she told him it would be a bad idea!"
A flare rises through the air.
âThatâs not going to cause any-â
âOh, shut up Tim.â
The Fire Prince once again appeared on the screen.
âThe last Airbender!â
âI was right,â he mumbled.
The screen faded to the credits, and Dick turned to the group.
âSo? What do you think?â
âSlow.â
âNobody has any sense.â
âAre any of the characters actually likable?â
He frowned. âOkay, okay, so the first episode isnât the best. I swear it gets better. Back me up here Barb.â
Barbara nodded. âHeâs right, it takes a few episodes to build the characters up and we see some genuine action. But by mid-season, I swear youâll be hooked. And then weâll get to season two and the best characters will arrive.â
âHey,â Dick exclaimed, pointing a finger at her. âNo spoilers.â
âI thought it was fun,â Marinette offered. âItâs very clearly a kidâs show, but I donât think thatâs a bad thing.â She wasnât going to say each and every person in the room had childhood traumas, and a show full of lighthearted fun was probably just what they needed. She could think it, but she wouldnât say it. Â
âThank you, Marinette,â said Dick with a smile.
âI rather enjoyed the elderly tea drinker,â intoned Alfred. âHeâs more than he appears to be.â
âUncle Iroh? Yeah, heâs the best!â commented Barbara. "But everyone is great."Â
âAlright, episode one finished, nine more to go.â
âLetâs hope itâs more enjoyable than the last,â uttered Damian, a chorus of agreement followed his statement, but when the show started up everyone grew quiet again.
Marinette was sure whatever happened next, it was bound to be interesting.

Hi, could you please write a miraculous ladybug salt with Damianette where Marinette and Damian have been dating since before the show starts. Alya believes Marinette has a crush on Adrian even though Marinette is in a relationship with Damian. Alya then tries to break Damianette up in order to get adrianette together. Also Marinette and Adrian met when they were younger due to the dupain-cheng and Wayne's being friends and the Argeste and Wayne's being business friends. Maybe make it Class salt
Pretending to like Adrien may have been the worst decision of her life. Of course, Adrien agreed to it wanting to pretend to be the oblivious just a friend kind of guy. Marinette and Adrien shared laughs at the thought of their classmates trying to get them together not knowing the extent of their relationship prior to meet them.
Letâs rewind a bit.
It started with Sabine and Emilie went to University to together. They were roommates and the bests of friends. From there, Sabine went into dating the bakerâs son while Emilie touch interest in a fashion mogul. Everything was perfect for their little group until business started to grow on international levels. Sabine and Tom jumped to stardom after participating in a baking contest in English and became one of Europeâs celebrities in the food industry. Emilie had grown to be loved on the big screen as Gabriel expanded on the family business taking on building the biggest fashion empire in Paris.
Soon the family of twos welcomes new members: Adrien and Marinette.
The children would send the day at each otherâs home when their parents were on business trips. They grew to love each other as brothers and sisters. It was Marinette who asked her parents to send her to big brother's house to show him something she had made. Sabine and Emilie cried together when they realize that their children had taken to calling each other siblings.
When Adrien and Marinette were five, the family was welcomed to a Wayne Gala. Sabine and Tom were quick to become friends with a certain Mr. Wayne. Marinette had expanded who siblings to include Dickie and Tim Tam. Adrien was jealous of the competition regarding Mariâs favorite brother.
All was perfect until Mari meet the latest addition to the Wayne family around the age of ten. Damian Wayne.
He wasnât like the others, and she had met plenty of the adopted and non-adopted Wayne over the years. He was rude, always looking like he was out to get the world. She at the utmost pleasure in breaking through to the older boy. Her challenge every time she visits was to get him to laugh. She didnât exceed.
When Adrien went the young Wayne, he screamed and hid behind Marinette, who at the time was taller than the two boys. Adrien hugged Mr. Kitten, his stuff black cat, like a lifeline until Alfred had called the three kids for lunch.
As they have gotten older, Damian took a liking to Marinette and had developed a crush on her. His older siblings found it hilarious when they found the demon lightly brushing at any mention of the Parisian girl.
Unfortunately, a loss entered the Agreste household. Emilie had fallen sick and had disappeared from the face of the earth. Gabriel didnât know how to deal with the loss, he ended up giving the Dupain-Cheng temporary custody of his son until he figures out his next move. That was the last time anyone had seen M. Agreste in public. Adrien plenty of surrogate siblings to help him through the loss of his mother, but he also ended up losing his father in the process.
Months before they were to enter college, Damian had asked Marinette on a date. Marinette smiles and wrapped her arms the taller boyâs neck. Her boys had grown to be taller than the girl even if it was by a couple of centimeters. Everyone around them suspects that theyâll be at least 5â9â to 6â while Marinette would grow to be Sabineâs height at best.
Celebrations were made at the announcement of the Dupain-Cheng heiress and Wayne heir becoming a couple. Their parents promise their kids a normal relationship despite media interference. The Dupain-Cheng moved into their smaller bakery as it had an apartment upstairs. The perfect front and it was close to the school that they were sending Marinette to for college.
It was all fine and dandy until Marinette and Adrien received their miraculous. Not even a day after they started college. Marinette had taken a liking to the reporter, but she quickly realizes that she is determined, and that kind of determination can last for a long time.
âIâm fine, Dami,â Marinette says to Damian over video chat. She was working on a commission for a client and Adrien was being no help despite being in the same room with her. Damian raises an eyebrow. âIâm serious, they cannot bring me down.â
âSheâs lying.â Adrien sings from his position on the chaise. Marinette turns to the blonde model and glares at him.
âStay sane, Angel. Iâm sure sheâll come to her senses.â
âI doubt it, weâre about to graduate lycĂ©e and she's still headset of getting Adrien and me together. Iâm pretty sure Luka would hate that.â Marinette begins to stitch together the pieces of fabric in front of her. Â
âIn that case, I will gladly put a sword through her if she doesnât stop.â Marinette smiles and laughs at the thought of Damian putting a sword through Alya.
âWell your lunch is ending soon, weâll talk later?â Marinette says pulling her focus away from the outfit and to the clock.
âFather will understand if I ditch the other half a day.â
âDamiâŠâ
âIâll go Angel.â Damian folded. âAre you still on for date night tomorrow?â
âI would be crazy if I said it wasnât.â Marinette waves goodbye to the small screen. The screen goes black signaling the end of the call.
âSo, what are we going to do about Alya?â Adrien asks and before Marinette could reply, both of their phones go off. âItâs Nino. Asking if I want to hang out with him and Alya.â
Marinette sighs and sends a quick reply. âAlya texted me about wanting to hang out with her rather than Nino.â
A beat past. âSheâs setting us up again.â Groans follow through.
With Alya, she is determined, to get Adrienette together by the end of the school year. This was their final year and Marinette never once managed to work up the confidence to ask the blonde model out.
Today, she was staging an âOperation Adrienetteâ at the Place des Vosges. Everyone that is a part of the akuma class was there. Alya, standing front and center with Lila, points to the easel with a large poster board.
âHereâs the plan. We all know that graduation is coming up soon, and I tend to make it my legacy to ensure Adrienette becomes canon. They have ditched us for the last time and I planned to end that this week.â Alya states pretending to be heartbroken.
Lila couldnât help but notice how Chloe and Juleka were missing from the meeting. She doesnât want Adrienette to happen but when she tried to get Marinette expelled in college, during a photoshoot Adrien had to threaten for her to back off and stop messing with his sister. Their other brothers wouldnât like that. Since that encounter, she made a deal with the duo and learned very quickly how there was no romantic attraction between them, just mischief. The reason for Lila being her is because Alya and the rest of them are still her puppets and she has to play the supportive friend.
âIâm still salty about the last plan. They were supposed to have a romantic time at the ice rink, and nothing came of it. This time Iâm planning a romantic dinner where Nino and I would ditch the two for another booth. That way they are forced to interact with each other.â
âWhat are we going to do if that backfires?â Rose raised her hand inputting her concerns.
âWe donât expect it to.â Alya confidently states.
It was Friday night when the plan went into fruition. Adrien had agreed to meet up with Nino and Alya for whatever they have planned. He ended up dressing up at the request Alya of blowing up his phone under Ninoâs contact name.
Alya was hanging off Ninoâs arms smiling at the model. It was creeping him out.
âSo why am I here?â He finally asks even though he knew the answer already.
âWeâre waiting for Marinette; sheâd promised that sheâll be here in a moment.â Alya deflects the question, she looks elsewhere, no doubt to find Marinette. âThere she is.â
Marinette walks over to the group. Adrien gasps causing Alya and Nino to smugly smile at each other. Marinette was wearing a red and black T-shirt dress with the icon of Robin in the center.
âHey gurl, glad you can join us.â Alya pulls away from Nino, giving the poor teen his arm back and formerly greets Adrien.
âNot like a had a choice, Alya.â Marinette murmurs under her breath.
âOf course, you did, look youâre already here and letâs go get to our seats.â Alya pushes Marinette towards the door and gestures for Adrien and Nino to follow.
Before they were event seated, Marinette notices the two-seat table. Like that didnât raise any red flags about this evening. Adrien and Marinette took to the table first while Alya made up an excuse for her and Nino. They took the seats on the opposite side of the restaurant to spy on the couple.
Marinette stares down at Adrien both looking very comfortable with one another. The waiter came to their table asking if they need anything to which Marinette orders water and Adrien saying that heâs just a stand-in. The waiter didnât question it.
Alya and Nino had ordered their meals and she was getting fed up with the lack of communication between the two. She would have stalked over there if it hadnât been for Nino holding her back.
Just then, a tall, sleek dark hair, gentlemen walk over to the table. Adrien immediately gives up his seat to the gentlemen, but Marinette got out from her seat to hug the man. Alya was in shock. Marinette even gave the male a kiss on the lips before wishing Adrien out.
Adrien had the nerve to turn to Alya and smirk before walking back to the entrance and out of the restaurant. Marinette and the male happy hold hands across the table and chatted. When the waiter had returned with Marinetteâs glass of water, he doesnât seem surprised to see the new face. Instead, he takes their order and doesnât return until the order is ready.
Alya watch as the couple happily eat. Anger could not describe what she was feeling. Who was this gut and how dare he hijacks a date she had been planning for weeks? When Nino finally gave his okay, it was after Marinette and her mystery date disappeared out of the restaurant. Alya wanted to scream and shout. Scream to the heavens to let out all the anguish she was suffering from Adrienette and shout at Marinette for daring to bring another dude in while she has a crush on Adrien.
She must break them up. If that is the last thing she does.
Alya didnât see Marinette nor Adrien for the rest of the weekend. She tried to go to the bakery, but the girlâs parents informed her that Marinette was not home. Everything was a mess.
When she returned to the classroom that following Monday, the class was all wondering how the date went. Did they finally get together? Alya was near a breakdown.
âYou, how could you. Do you have any idea what I had to go through?â Alya shouts at the teen at fault for all her problems.
âLook Alya, I didnât ask to be set up with Adrien. At first, it was hilarious but now itâs affecting both our love life.â Marinette counters taking her seat in the back. Adrien enters the classroom not long after she sat down.
âExcuse you, but you are destined to be with Adrien.â Alya screeches but her cries go unheard by the two siblings.
The teacher walks in and demands the class to sit down. Alya turns to Marinette and mouths, âThis is not overâ to which Marinette raises an eyebrow.
Another meeting in the Place des Vosges.
âI have called you all here to take incriminated photos of Marinette. I need to gather as much evidence to break up Mari and this supposed boyfriend of hers. Any suggestions?â Alya asks standing in front of the remains of the class that supports her.
âOh, Iâve been seeing Marinette a lot lately with these two boys. Theyâre clearly more than a thing.â Lila lies through her teeth. She already knows that wasnât the truth but Alya didnât know that.
âSomeone that wasnât her boyfriend?â Alya raises an eyebrow. Lila nods. âGood, that is excellent news.â
It wasnât excellent news.
The first attempt was a fail. Marinette was hanging out with Nathaniel and they all knew he was in a relationship with Marc. Apparently, the artist was commissioning a scarf as an anniversary gift.
The second attempt was also a fail. Marinette was with this boyfriend of hers getting ice cream together. They were having a romantic evening.
The third attempt was nearly a success until Juleka rained on their parade saying that Luka was in a happy relationship with some dude and Marinette and he was just friends.
It wasnât until they were on the fourth attempt that they struck gold. Marinette was spending time with two unknown boys. The designer was out and about in the park throwing frisbees. One of the guys picked her up and spun her around before placing a kiss on her cheek. The class cheered at the thought of finally getting Marinette and Adrien together.
Alya was waiting for the opportunity. She didnât have to wait long. Marinette and the dude were sitting underneath the tree at Place des Vosges.
âYour girlfriend here is a cheating bitch.â Alya states confidently.
Marinette turns to her boyfriend then back to Alya.
âWhat makes you think that of my beloved.â The guy asks raising an eyebrow. Marinette was still in his lap.
âI got evidence.â
âPray tell.â
Alya pulls out a stack of photos. She gave them to the boy who examines the photos. He hid his smirk in Marinetteâs neck who was hiding her laughter.
âSo thatâs why they were here. I really need to place boundaries on those idiots.â He says thoughtfully.
âDonât you dare.â Marinette counters playfully hitting the maleâs chest.
âIt seems that you have caught my beloved with my imbecileâs brothers. Those photos that you have of them are without consent. I could press charges against you on their behalf.â
Alya was losing every ounce of confidence she had.
Adding oil to the fuel, Adrien walks over to them hand-in-hand with Luka. He greets them and kisses Lukaâs lips. Alya wanted to scream. How could all this go so wrong?
âIf you need any indication as to how long Iâve been with Marinette, we have been together since she turned thirteen.â He states kissing Marinetteâs cheek in the process.
âButâŠbut,â Alya stutters her brain could not comprehend the situation.
âAlya, dating Adrien would be like dating my brother. Weâve been friends since we were in diapers.â Marinette then adds more fuel to the fire, âYou and the class would have noticed had you not been set on this Adrienette ship.â
âYeah, a simple search online and you would see photos of Mari and me at galas, movie premieres, fashion shows. She and Damian have been in news coverage from the first time they announce their relationship to the recent engagement announcement.â Marinette blush at the thought of the giant ring on her ring finger.
âAlya, in a different universe I would proudly be Adrienâs girlfriend but itâs not this universe.â
âLetâs go, future Mrs. Wayne.â
âI couldnât agree more, Mr. Wayne.â
Marinette and Damian walk out of the park and head to the bakery.
âBetter luck next time Alya,â Adrien smiles before he and Luka follows the two.
Alya was lost for words, she would never get her ship canon. She fell on the green pastures and contemplate life decisions. Â Â

An akuma with reality powers, The Artist Family and the canon Art kids (maybe the other classmates too) meet each other
Their reaction? Chaos?
Another day, another Akuma for the Malevolent Miraculous team
This one is named Alterna, and theyâre a scientist who got Akumatized because their alternate universe theory was rejected
They have the power to open portals to other dimensions
While fighting, Alterna grabbed Black Widowerâs whip and used it to ensnare the team before flinging them into a portal
Once they land, they find themselves... In Paris? Only, something feels off, very off...
Since there doesnât seem to be any danger, they detransform
They look around while getting weird looks from people. (Imagine the âGoing into townâ scene form the Addams Family 2019 movie)
Nathaniel Artist: Everyoneâs dressed so... Conformist. *Sees a magazine with Adrien on the cover* And what happened to Adrienâs new look?
Rose Artist: Is this one of the universes where his dad is a jerk?
Alix Artist scares off a few people by throwing a brick through a few car windows.
Marc Artist: Alix, donât be rude. Let the others have their turns.
Manon approaches Marinette Artist and asks why sheâs wearing dark colors
Marinette Artist: Manon, you know I despise all colors.
A few more minutes of walking, and they see Marinette Dupain-Cheng running to school
Marinette Artist: *Checks her watch* School has begun three minutes ago. Sheâs not very punctual, is she?
The Artist Family follow her to the alternate DuPont to see whatâs going on, then they bump into Mme. Bustier, who was making her way to the teachers lounge.
Mme. Bustier: Marinette? But I just... I saw you, all of you in the classroom. And Marc, shouldnât you also be in class?
The Artists rush to their respective classrooms and find their alternate sleeves, much to their shock
Nathaniel Kurtzberg: ... What the fuck?!
Nathaniel Artist: I could ask the same about your outfit. Must you insult my eyes with such a color combination?
Chloé: Ha! You just got burned by yourself, tomato head!
Marinette Artist: At least he doesnât go out looking like a clown gave him a makeover.
ChloĂ©: Iâm telling daddy!
Marinette Artist: Yes, let your father get involved with petty teenage drama. That will get him more votes in the upcoming election. Now silence.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng: ... Thank you, me?
They explain what happened, (Leaving out the part about them being superheroes because this universeâs Lila will no doubt run her big mouth to Hawkmoth who theyâre sure sheâs working for), and the art club is not sure how to react
Alix Kudbel: So weâre basically the Addams Family?
Lila: Oh! You know, my great great grandfather actually inspired Chauncey Addams to create the Addams Family!
While the class eats it up, the art club and Artists just glare at her
Marinette Addams: Itâs Charles Addams, idiot.
Lila: Oh, you guys hate me too? *Cue bitch crying*
Juleka Artist: *Waves a skull in front of Lila* Luxor, nexor, burst and burn!
Lila: Whatâs she doing?
Juleka Artist: Just a curse that will make your pants burst into flames every time you lie.
Lili: *Whining* Why are you all trying to hurt me?! I never lie! *Her pants bursts into flames and she runs out of the school before sheâs left in only her underwear*
Alya: *To her Marinette* My sincerest apologies.
Suddenly, screams are heard, followed by Mme. Mendelive and her students running past the classroom. Marc Anciel and Artist walk into the classroom while being trailed by a clutter of spiders
Marc Artist: Well that was quite rude, wouldnât you say?
Marc Anciel: In their defense, spiders are a little... Horripilante.
Nathaniel Artist just stands there, trying very hard not to kiss the alternate version of his boyfriend and wondering why his alternate self isnât going kissing his Marc madly with passion
The Artists explain to the Art Club during lunch about their situation and tell them that theyâre Miraculous holders in their world, much to Marinetteâs shock since sheâs never heard of the Malevolent Miraculous
The art club let their alternate selves stay with them until they can figure out a way to get back, but Nathaniel and Marc Artist insist that they stay together
Alix Kudbel and Artist volunteer to let them stay with them. (Cuz they ship âem!)
Marinette A is stunned to see her alternate parents, and when they welcome her with open arms since her own parents were always so distant.
Even when she shows her dark nature, they still treat her like family. She tries very hard not to show any emotion
When theyâre alone, Tikki and Screech reveal themselves. Tikki explains that there are alternate realities with different Kwamis with similar powers to the Kwamis theyâve alternate versions of. Screech is her alternate self
Marinette A questions why Marinette DCâs Ladybug suit is so skintight and insists that she change her suit which Marinette DC doesnât mind doing
Marinette A tells Marinette DC about her boyfriend, Damian, confusing DC a bit. What about Adrien?
Marinette A: Adrien wasnât able to satisfy my needs. Yes, heâs quite attractive, but I needed someone who could keep up with me, worship me, be my love servant and follow me into the underworld.
Marinette DC: ... So whoâs this Damian?
Nathaniel K insists that Nathaniel A spend some time away from his Marc so they can talk without them making out every five minutes
Nathaniel A: How is it that you have not gouged out your own eyes?! Your Marc is miles away from you, and you believe you have the right to live?!
Nathaniel K: ... We call each other.
Nathaniel K is starting to regret letting his alternate self live with him since he keeps starting fires! He had to hide all of the matches and anything flammable. And if thatâs not bad, Chompp keep chewing on his sketchbooks
Once all of the fire causes were hidden, they bonded over their love for painting and sketching
Nathaniel K: So, your paintings are actually cursed?
Nathaniel A: Very much. One caused the mayor to stumble down the stairs and stay in intensive care.
Nathaniel K: *Thinking of all the ways he could torture Chloé and Lila with his art* ... Teach me.
Marc Anciel is trying not to scream every time one of Marc Artistâs spiders crawl on him, not wanting to seem rude
Marc Anciel: *Shudders* Oh, and thatâs a black widow in my hair.
Marc Artist: Theyâre my favorite. Itâs why I chose the name Black Widower.
To release some of the tension, Marc Anciel suggests they read each otherâs writing... He will not be sleeping for a while after reading Marcâs Artistâs stories. He asks why his alternate self wrote eulogies for his Nathaniel
Marc Artist: I want others to know of the love we shared together before heâs put to rest. And who better to write my loveâs eulogy than the one who knows him best? The one who has loved him, tangoed with him, stabbed his heart.
Marc Andiel ignores the last part and actually considers writing Nathanielâs eulogy.
Alix K and Alix A are having an awesome time together
Alix A and Duuo throw grenades which Alix K dodges while skating until Alim tells them to do this away from the museum
They outrun the police, prank Kim by putting itching powder in the pool, and watch their Marcs and Nathaniels make out
Itâs all fun and well until Alix A meets this universeâ Jalil. Her Jalil sold her out since there was a reward to turn her in, forcing her to run from the authorities and sheâs never forgiven him
Jalil K assures her that heâd never do that and reminds her that family always comes first. Alix A is resisting the urge to cry and instead lights a firecracker in his jacket
Juleka A CANNOT stop staring at her alternate selfâs Luka. She can actually see his face and body. And he can talk!
Luka: Hey, are Marinette and I a... Thing where youâre from?
Juleka A: She has two hands. Soon to be three when she takes Damianâs in marriage when theyâre of age.
Juleka C and A bond over their love for the macabre and witch culture. She even teaches her a few spells to use against Chloé and Lila if she ever shows her face again
They work! ChloĂ© broke out into a terrible rash, and all of Lilaâs pants are on fire
Rabbid also may or may not have chewed up the rest of Lilaâs clothes, forcing her to spend all of her money on new clothes
Rose A tries to get used to her alternate selfâs love of bright colors and Disney movies, but itâs a struggle. So, she exposes her to the darker side of Disney.
Rose L is horrified but also a little excited.
They do a dark Disney marathon and watch all of the movies Disney tried to hide from audiences.
Rose A even changes up Rose Lâs look so she looks like a badass punk Princess, which gives Juleka C a slight nosebleed
Rose L is still her bubbly self, but now also has a love for the darker things in life
The Artists stay in this universe for three more days, starting another goth trend in the alternate Paris by giving Adrien a makeover, introducing Marinette to Damian via pen pal program, teaching Nathaniel and Juleka how to curse their enemies, setting Lilaâs clothes on fire a couple more times, introducing Marc to a more gothic style of or writing & Rose to a punk style of clothing, and teaching Alix all of the stunts sheâs never even thought of doing that involve explosives
They also have a little fun with Nino and help him pursue his dream of traumatizing Gabriel Agreste
This involves chloroform, a coffin, and a walkee talkee. Gabriel is forced to listen to Ninoâs voice for 12 whole hours, telling him to be a better dad to Adrien, fire Lila, and to give him $1000 dollars
Gabriel gives Adrien more freedom, fires Lila and burns all of the magazines with her face and name in them, and gives Nino $1000 dollars. Then he passes out
Nino: *Hugging the Artists* I... I love you guys so much. I donât ever want you to leave. You have made me the happiest man alive!
Then Alterna shows up
Nino: NO! DONâT TAKE THEM! TAKE GABRIEL!
Adrien: Hey!
Nino: Iâm just kidding... Not.
The Artists and Marinette transform. The Malevolent Miraculous team are shocked to see Chat Noir but are even more shocked when they immediately recognize him as Adrien
Theyâre able to defeat the Akuma even though Lila (Whoâs being a brat because she got fired) keeps interfering by whining about her broken leg, this time in a skirt. (Loophole) And she keeps trying to snatch their Miraculous whenever she gets close to them
Jaws: *Uses power to make his teeth sharper* Keep crying and Iâll give you a real broken leg. *Lila shuts up and lets them work*
They defeat Alterna, and Ladybug and Nocturna use the Miracle/Malevolent cure to remove all of the portals opened by the Akuma and put people back in their respective dimensions
They start to disappear and head back to their dimension as the Bats and Ladybugs swarm around them
Nino: NO! TAKE ME WITH YOU! *They disappear* DAMNIT!
Alya: You have them. *Points to the Art Club*
Nino: Can they murder Gabriel or frame him for a crime?
Juleka: We can try. Thereâs six of us, one of him. Nathaniel and I now know how to curse people.
Nino: Iâm in!
Alya: And while you go ruin Gabrielâs life, Iâm gonna go kill Lila.
Back in the Artistâs Dimension!
Juleka Artist: Are we back? Is this our dimension?
Nino: Oh, thank God youâre back! Gabriel was starting to gain consciousness again and Adrien is becoming suspicious. I think he knows Iâm keeping him in my basement.
Marinette Artist: *Sighs* Yep. This is our place.

Useful Part 2
fluff with a little hurt and comfort. If you want answers as to the lack of angst, look through my recent posts for an explanation.Â
â* â * â * â* â*Â
âWait, you have a WHAT?â were the first words that the rest of the Gotham-based vigilantes heard when they finally were able to track down where Damian had gone. Dick looked over at Bruce, who was noticeably tense. No surprise there, the man had just found out that he had a second biological child. One who was apparently a superhero already, without his intervention, and also apparently had a tragic background in the League of fucking Assassin Assholes. Not to mention that Damianâs track record with meeting siblings wasnât great, even if this one wasnât actually new to him. Nobody had any real fear of Damian relapsing on his no-kill rule, they knew he had matured far too much to be at risk of killing for something as immature as sibling rivalry anymore.Â
But there was still fear. Because this new Wayne was an Unknown Factor, and as a rule the Bats hated Unknown Factors. And they had no idea what the relationship between the two had been before they had been separated, or what it would become now.Â
âThat wasnât Damianâs voice,â Dick helpfully pointed out the obvious. Bruce only frowned, doing his best (and failing) to hide his anxiety about what they would find. Silently, the group inched forward to the edge of the abandoned building they were on top of so that they could look over at what was happening. What they saw was a girl, presumably the same one who had been in a ladybug onesie and had fearlessly begun to ask them to leave Parisâ until she had laid proper eyes on Robin and fled, that was. That girl was sitting down next to an unmasked Damian, who had his arm around her shoulders and let her lean into his side. He even smirked cheerfully at her question before continuing to speak to her.Â
âA dragon-bat. I knew youâd love hearing about him, Iâll introduce you when you come visit the Batcave. His name is Goliath,â Damian admitted smugly. Despite the familiar attitude and pride behind his words though, his spying family couldnât help but notice that he kept periodically rubbing the girlâs (they really needed to find out her name) shoulder in reassurance. None of them missed the tear tracks on both of their faces, or how red the girlâs eyes were. Clearly they had missed something big.Â
But nobody wanted to try to figure that out yet. This scene was too precious, too breathtaking for them to interrupt just yet. They had never seen Damian this vulnerable around someone outside of their little circle before, someone from the Time Before Bruce, no less. Most of the time, only Nightwing was able to see this side to Damian. And usually the roles were reversed, with Damian being the one consoled. They had never seen him in the position of the comforter before. The pillar of support.Â
It really cemented just how far he had come.Â
So they watched silently as the girl flinched, pulling away a bit and hunching in on herself. The laugh she let out was small and overflowing with self-degradation.Â
âYou make it sound as if the rest of your family actually wants me to visit,â she replied sourly. Damian gently cuffed her over the head, frowning.Â
âTwo things,â he held up two fingers from his free hand. âOne: They will. They accepted me, and I wasâ well, you remember how I used to be. Once they actually meet you, and process the fact that thereâs another Wayne now, they will bombard you with more welcoming than you will know what to do with. Two: Itâs Our family, Marinette. Not mine, ours.â
Well, at least they had a name now. But it seems like they had bigger issues now, like Marinetteâs clearly damaged sense of self. Jason and Tim traded knowing glances; it wasnât hard for them to guess where, or how, she might have been damaged enough to think so lowly of herself.Â
They watched as Marinette shook her head.Â
âI donât know. Itâs one thing to try to⊠to get to know you again. We used to be close before⊠everything,â she haltingly argued, voice small and frail and uncertain. But she never once looked away from Damianâs eyes, trying to convey as best as she could what she was feeling. âBut theyâre different. They donât have any reason to trust or like me, Dami. And Iâm bad at, well everything, but especially,â she waved her hands frantically as if indicating the whole situation they were in. âI mean, listen to me! I can barely articulate right now, and Iâm talking to someone Iâve known my whole life! Iâm a mess. Nobody wants a mess.âÂ
It was Damianâs turn to snort, and he pulled her right back into his side. âPlease. If anything, thatâs exactly the type of child Father goes looking for. Weâre all a mess. Especially Father, trust me.âÂ
âYouâre just trying to make me feel better,â she accused suspiciously, but sank into his sideways embrace anyway. Damian chuckled.Â
âNo, Iâm being honest. Heâs terrible at emotions, not that I really have much room to talk. We all are pretty bad with them. But heâs the most obvious when it comes to that issue,â Damian smirked over at his sister conspiratorially. âFor example. He still tries to tell people that he works alone, and pushes people away because he has this intense desire to protect, but doesnât know how to say âI donât want you to get hurt, stop worrying me,â so instead he says âGo away, I donât need you,â only for us to see through that nonsense and remind him that the amount of people in his team is in the double digits already. He doesnât want to admit he cares about us and is vulnerableââ
âSounds familiar,â Marinette teased with a watery grin, startling a short laugh from her twin. He nudged her a little roughly (but not to roughly) and playfully glared at her. Marinette just giggled.
âI have no idea what youâre talking about,â he lied with a grin before waving his free hand in dismissal. âAnyway. Another example. He has no idea how to tell a stranger, âhey, Iâm your father and I will not reject you. In fact, Iâm completely willing to adopt you right this moment and whisk you away to Gotham and relative safety and hire an entire team of therapists to help you and buy you half the world if you asked for it,â so instead he and the rest of our emotionally constipated family just lurks on the edge of a building in broad daylight eavesdropping on us and expects us not to notice.âÂ
âWait what,â Marinetteâs gaze instantly whipped up towards the sky, taking only half a second to locate the aforementioned eavesdroppers. Everyone except Bruce at least had the courtesy to duck down and pretend not to be there when they noticed she had seen them, leaving Batman standing seemingly alone on the concrete roof. Marinette blinked once. Twice. Then turned to Damian. âIâm gonna blame the fact that I didnât notice them on emotional turmoil, because there is no way Iâve gotten THAT rusty.âÂ
Damian smiled, but didnât laugh. He knew that was a deflection to try and distract from Marinetteâs quickly resurging self-consciousness. Her hands were already trembling again, and the fear from only minutes ago had resurfaced. The insecurity. He could practically see the words âIâm not good enough,â written in her irises.Â
âYouâll be fine,â he whispered, standing up and pulling her with him. âIf anyone has to worry here, itâs me.âÂ
âWhat the hell are you talking about?â Marinette whisper-hissed right back, eyes wide in disbelief and confusion. âYouâreâ You! Mister Perfect!âÂ
Damian rolled his eyes, and his self-deprecating smirk matched the laugh Marinette had given just a few minutes earlier. âFor the League, maybe,â he shrugged. âNever the Wayne family. Which is why I know youâll be fine. If they put up with everything Iâve done and still call me one of them, theyâll accept you with barely a second thought.âÂ
Marinetteâs next argument was cut off by the sound of a dozen soft footfalls stirring up dirt not far ahead of them. The BatClan had landed from the rooftop.Â
Marinette gulped.Â
But if there was one thingâ one thing she still remembered from her days as Marie Al-Ghul, it was how to fake pride and confidence. She straightened her shoulders automatically, lifted her chin, and pulled away from Damianâs supporting arm around her shoulder. Damian let her.Â
A little bit of old resentment flared up in him as he saw Batman walk up close enough to comfortably talk with them. Resentment that he no longer held onto, but that had haunted him nearly every night of the first two years he spent with his dad. The realization that maybe his twin was the one that was meant to be a Wayne. Marie had the blue eyes, the compassion, the more specifically detective-oriented mind. The calm head. Sometimes. Marie was exactly who he imagined when he thought of a naturally born member of the BatClan. Stubborn, clever, morally just. She had risked immediate death just because she refused to fight him, for crying out loud. Because she didnât want to hurt the boy who used to be her best friend. The only ally she had ever had, growing up.Â
Meanwhile, he still had issues reigning in his anger sometimes. He had too much blood on his hands, he was more of a battlefield tactician than a long-term strategist. Still stubborn, but also completely unaware of the pain he brought others with his words or actions a lot of the time. He used to be such a rage fueled little demon, and thinking about how his sister fit the classic Wayne outline more thoroughly than he did had made him destroy more than a few practice dummies in frustration.Â
But now, looking at Marinette trying so hard to appear strong and proud when he knew she was still so shattered inside, relief overpowered the old and dull resentment. This was what she needed, he could sense that easily. She, just like him all those years ago, needed Bruce and the others to start to heal her and reforge what the League had badly molded.Â
â... Marinette, I suppose?â Damian nearly facepalmed at his fatherâs awkward attempt at a conversation starter. Marinette herself was clearly too keyed up and overthinking things to even register any amusement at the lame attempt, merely nodding with an overly serious expression on her face.Â
âMarinette Dupain-Cheng, Monsieur Wayne. Or thatâs my name nowadays, that is,â She stumbled a little in her response before clenching her fists and forcing herself to continue as calmly as she could muster up. âMy birth name was Marie Al-Ghul.âÂ
Bruceâs eyebrows visibly furrowed underneath his cowl. âWas?âÂ
âIâŠâ Marinette finally looked away, shame creeping back onto her face. âI was explicitly told that I was stripped of the Al-Ghul name and would be killed if I ever dared lay claim to it again. So I not-so-legally changed it. And I was later adopted.âÂ
Several sharp gasps or the hiss of breath through teeth bit through the quiet breeze. Nobody was necessarily surprised, Marinette could see it when she looked through her eyelashes and examined the winces and sympathy on the faces of the vigilantes before her. Batmanâs shoulders were stiff, as if someone had paralyzed only his shoulder blades.Â
âAnd the people who adopted you?â Batman pursued. Marinette couldnât read his tone very well, but it sounded vaguely angry so she quickly raised her hands in a placating gesture and her eyes widened significantly.Â
âTheyâve been amazing! They donât know anything about my past, or who raised me, but they are endlessly patient with me. I mean, honestly! Sabine caught me when I was trying to steal one of her gold bracelets in Hong Kongâ and I know Iâve never been as good of a combatant as Dami, but Iâve always been better at sleight of hand and stealth so honestly thatâs impressiveâ and she saw my dirty eight-year-old face and for some reason decided, âyeah I want this one as my daughterâ and roped Tom right into it and next thing I know they somehow tailed me to my hideout? I still donât know how the hell they managed that, but Tom had a huge plate of steaming buns and I was so hungry and suddenly itâs two years later and Iâm adopted and weâre on a plane to Parisââ Marinette threw up her hands. âI still donât fully grasp what happened sometimes.âÂ
She belatedly seemed to realize that she had just gone on an entire breathless rant at the speed of sound, and slapped her hands over her mouth before lunging into a deep bow. âI apologize! I spoke horridly out of turn!âÂ
To her surprise though, she was met with a soft laugh instead of a scolding. She jerked in surprise, whipping her head up only to see Batman holding a hand over his chin to hide his large grin. It only took another second for the boys behind him to laugh a lot LESS softly. Nightwing strolled over casually and swung an arm around both her and Damianâs shoulders, playfully nudging her brother with his knee.Â
âI think she fits right in, donât you little D?âÂ
âOf course,â Damian scoffed, though his eyes were playful. âShe is a Wayne by blood. She âfits inâ more than you strays.âÂ
âDami!â Marinette whipped back to him and puffed out her cheeks. âThat was uncalled for!â she barked. Damian held his hands up in surrender.Â
âRelax,â he said as soothingly as he could manage. âThey know Iâm joking,â he dropped his hands and a knowing smirk took over his face. âAnd besides, now youâre relaxed so my plan worked,â Marinette could only blink at that. She⊠did feel more relaxed, actually. âAlso. I told you youâd be accepted easily. They already consider you one of us.âÂ
âWhaâ thereâs no wayââ she frantically looked at each of the older men around her, but each of them just shot her a smile or grin and a short nod. Her shoulders and jaw both fell, and it broke a little of everyoneâs heart.Â
Marinette looked so utterly shocked, bewildered to be accepted as if it was still something profoundly foreign to her. And there was that disbelief in her eyes, that distrust that screamed that she expected some sort of lie here. That told that she thought this would all crumble away at any second. If anyone had any reservations about bringing her into their inner circles, it vanished right that moment. She needed support, or sheâd crumble away and they all knew it.Â
âHow about we start by talking about the situation with Hawkmoth?â Red Robin spoke up, walking forward to stand beside Batman. âI assume thatâs a little more in your element?âÂ
Damian silently vowed to thank Tim later for that. In a silent, completely anonymous way of course. Couldnât have Tim thinking they were friends or something now, could he? Marinette instantly straightened up and nodded, her confidence returning with a little more sincerity this time.Â
âYeah. Yeah, let me transform again. Itâll be easier to explain.âÂ
â*â*â*â*â*
It was three weeks later, on Marinetteâs third now-weekly visit to the Batcave, when the question finally came up. Jason had asked to spar with Marinette for the first time, having seen her in action as Ladybug and wanting to test the girl when she didnât have superpowers to rely on. Damian hadnât been down in the cave to warn him, and the result was Jasonâs gut sinking as Marinette scrambled as far away from him as she could, eyes wide and chest heaving in the beginnings of a panic attack.Â
âShit,â Jason muttered before he quickly knelt down and did his best to talk her down, to calm her until her breathing slowed and her pupils were back to normal. It wasnât long afterwards that Marinette started hugging herself, refusing to look at him. But he wasnât going to just back down, he wanted to solve this issue. If even the mere suggestion of a spar was enough to set her off, he needed to figure out why and fix it.Â
So he carefully lowered himself so he was sitting only a foot away from her, resting his arms across his knees casually.Â
âSorry,â he apologized. âDidnât think it would be a sore subject. Thatâs on me.âÂ
Marinette just shrugged, but didnât answer him. She just buried her face in her arms and took a shaky breath.Â
Jason let the silence linger for a while before trying again. âDoes this have to do with certain Asshole Assassins?âÂ
That startled a slightly hysterical bark of laughter from her, and she had to wipe away a few tears when she raised her head and finally turned it in his direction slightly. Not enough for her to be looking at him, but just a subtle turn to show that she was listening and speaking to him. âYeah.âÂ
âYou know, you never told us why you got disowned,â Jason tried to make his words as casual as possible, but wasnât surprised when Marinette still stiffened and took a sharp breath. He didnât push. The stage was set, and heâd wait until either she took the opportunity to open up or told him to leave well enough alone. Her tongue flicked out to wet her lips, and her foot tapped on the ground a bit. Clear signs of her anxiety around the subject, and Jasonâs hopes vanished a little. He would probably have to wait longer for her to be ready to share.
But, to his pleasant surprise, he was wrong. She took another few minutes to gather her thoughts, but she did eventually open up to him.Â
âI refused to fight Damian,â she admitted. âIt was⊠We were seven. It wasnât supposed to be a fight to the death, but it was a very important spar. We were using live weaponry, and we were told to fight until we couldnât anymore. Whoever fell first would be relegated as a mere soldier, and have to fight for status like any other assassin in the League. The winner would officially be named as Gâ as Raâs Heir. I didnât want to fight, because I knew Damian would win but I also knew that it wouldnât be as easy as Raâs probably expected if I gave it my all like he wanted. I knew both Damian and I would be heavily injured if I did as he asked, and it wouldnât be worth it. If I misjudged anything, any single hit, I could have accidentally injured Damian permanently and ruined his worth in Raâs eyes, and that wasnât an option. I didnât care that throwing the fight was as good as giving up my life, because at least I could be sure that Damian kept his. I could make sure that he was treated well, or as well as anyone could hope for in the League anyway. I could, with only a few words, make sure he became indispensable. Raâs and Talia never liked me as much as Damian anyway, I figured⊠I figured it was nobodyâs loss,â She swallowed heavily, clenching her eyes shut. âI was always just the spare. The extra. Damian was their crown prince, the one with actual value. Even to me. I saw him, and I saw everything I wanted to be. I⊠I tossed down my weapons and let him stab me, because I figured I owed it to him for being such a failure in comparison to him. That I owed it to him to do everything I could to make things easier for him, since I was just an unnecessary obstacleââ strong arms wrapped around her, and she turned to sob into Jasonâs chest as he just silently held her.Â
âIdiot,â Damian whispered, making Marinette jump. Her twin sat only a few feet away, though only Jason would have known when exactly he had gotten there with them. He shook his head at her. âI never would have gotten as far as I did without you,â he whispered, looking up at the cave ceiling. âYou were the only real rival I had. When you left, everything was either too easy or nearly impossible, nothing was the same as trying my best against someone who was just as good as me. And when I got here and met the others, I didnât think any of them were worthy of taking your position, you know,â he scoffed a bit as he got lost in his memories. âThatâs why I hated Tim for so long, I think. He reminded me of you so much that I wanted nothing more than to punch him for daring to replace youââ
âHeh, the Replacement twice over, huh?â Jason joked. Damian chuckled with a small eye roll.Â
âPlus, he just has a really punchable face,â Damian added, trying to distract from the emotion behind everything he had just admitted. âPart of me thought you were dead. The other part refused to believe that. And seeing Tim and how some of his mannerisms were the same as yours,â Damian shrugged a little. âIt stung. Especially that second year, when I started to regret that you never had the chance to come here and join them with me. Meet them with me.âÂ
Marinette sniffled. â... Who are you and what have you done with Dami? Heâs never this sappy.âÂ
Damian flicked a pebble at her head with a good natured glare, successfully diffusing the serious air a little. Marinette wouldnât ever be normal, and it would take a while before she was no longer fragile, but she could get there. Especially now that her bridges with her brother had been mended, and and a whole new family had cropped up to help support her.Â
She was glad Damian had convinced her to try, again. Â
