Daminette December 2022: 25-Demon/Angel
Damian sighed as he walked into the community center. He had been assigned community service for punching someone at school. The school had thought it was best for the youngest Wayne to see the consequences of his actions and what his actions could lead to. They volunteered him to work in a reformitory.
Damian looked around the room of people. It reminded him of Arkham, just less yelling and screaming. One person caught his eye; a girl staring out the window. She sat perfectly still on the windowsill.
‘Who is she? Why is she alone?’
Damian quickly grabbed the clipboard out of the attendant’s hand.
“Hey!” they cried.
He flipped through the pages quickly and found her: Marinette Dupain-Cheng. He shoved the clipboard back and started walking towards her. They grabbed his arm.
“I wouldn’t go near her.” they whispered, “We go told very bad things about her. She’s very violent.”
'These people are idiots.’
Damian walked up to the sill.
“Hello.” he spoke.
Marinette didn’t speak or turn at the sound of his voice.
“Not one for words?” Damian questioned.
“Words are filled with lies.” she stated.
'Progress.’
“I am told you are violent.” he continued.
She sighed and continued looking out the window.
“I do not believe them.” he concluded.
Marinette turned and looked at him, shocked. Damian noticed tears build up befre she quickly shut down her emotions.
“So what?” Mari questioned.
“I am sentenced for one month to work here for two hours, three times a week.” Damian informed her.
“Lucky you.” she declared.
“I would rather spend time with you than with idiots.” he stated, “I can tell you are not like the others.”
As he turned to leave, he said his name was Damian and left.
It took until the very last day for him to get her to open up once more.
“I was never violent.” Marinette whispered, still looking out the window, “Not until the end.”
“The end?” Damian asked.
“I snapped.” she sniffled, “My parents sent me here because the couldn’t 'control’ me anymore. That’s a lie.”
“Why don’t you tell me when everything went wrong.” He spoke.
She shrugged, “Why not? I get out of here in a week. I’ll be eighteen by then and I’m suppose to get my stuff from them. I’m never going home. I grew up in Paris, France and my parents were bakers. Everything started with a new transfer student; she was a liar. I could see through her façade, but no one else could. She lied to people like we breathed oxygen.”
“I confronted her. She said she was only 'telling people what they wanted to hear’.” Mari sighed, “Nice to know people wanted to think so badly of you, huh. Anyways, she faked disabilities, told lies about going places, made up connections to celebrities. I tried to tell my friends, my classmates, but they wouldn’t listen. One of them knew she was a liar and said it was better to let her lie; that everyone would find out eventually. Later, she started to spread rumors about me, saying that I was bullying her, sending her threatening texts, calling her at all hours so she couldn’t sleep. It was all over a boy she wanted me to stay away from who was my friend. There even came a point where I got expelled because of her.”
“And you proved your innocence.” he smirked.
“If only.” Marinette answered, “I never got a chance to defend myself. There had been a tip to the teacher that the answer sheet for a test was in my bag. My idiot teacher had already graded the tests with it, but I somehow needed it. When I accused her, we were sent to the office, together. She walked down a whole flight of stairs and then started screaming that I pushed her.”
“Did they not check the footage?” Damian growled.
“Nope. The principal listened to people with money and powerful parents more. I was just a baker’s daughter. Why would the daughter of an Italian diplomat lie?” Mari waved off, “She wasn’t sent to the nurse or a hospital. She then accused me of stealing a necklace that was an heirloom. It was really a Gabriel necklace that had come out five months prior, but the 'evidence’ was there. So, I was expelled.”
“How were you reinstated?” he questioned.
Marinette laughed, “The bitch claimed to have a lying disease that made her fabricate evidence under stress.”
Damian gripped his jeans as tight as he could to stop himself from running off.
“Not sure when it started, but eveyone started telling my parents how 'awful’ I was to her.” Marinette stated, turning back to the window.
“And they believed them?” he asked.
Marinette nodded, “Soon, it wasn’t just her bullying me, threatening me. She got the whole class to do it. They started tripping me, destroying my homework, my designs, spilled coffee on me and played it off on my own clumsiness. One day, she said I chased her until she twisted her ankle.”
“What happened?” Damian pushed.
“That was the day I snapped.” Mari replied, “I don’t remember what happened. I was sitting in the back of the class and the next thing I know, I was being pulled off of her. She had a broken , fractured jaw, and was bleeding a lot. I’m told I just kept callign her a liar over and over, but I don’t know. Then, I was sent here. I’ve been here for
.two years, I think?”
'I was right. This isn’t a violent girl. This girl is an angel and she plummeted.’
“May I hug you?” Damian asked, suddenly.
Marinette turned quickly. He could see her face had turned bright red and she was shocked by his gesture. Damian leaned in and held her close.
“I do not believe you are bad.” he whispered, “I think you are a better person than most.”
Marinette shakily brought her hands around him and began to sob.
“What was that girl’s name?” Damian probed.
Mari sniffled and pulled away. She wiped her tears, like nothing had ever happened, and turned bac to look out the window.
“Layla Rossi. She went by Lila.” she answered, “I don’t know if it’s still with my things, but I kept a journal about everything. You can read it if you want. I decided to keep it as a reminder to never let it happen again; that I never needed friends, again.”
Damian stood up and placed a hand on her head. He smirked as he walked away and explained he had permission to look though her belongings. He found the journal and smiled. Marinette had no idea she had just made a deal with a demon.

4: cutting me open then healing me fine
Invisible String Masterlist PREVIOUS NEXT AO3
And isn't it just so pretty to think/All along there was some/Invisible string/Tying you to me?
In June, Damian graduated from Gotham University.
Marinette took him out to BatBurger to watch the latest X-men movie to celebrate. Damian critiqued the fight scenes and Marinette judged the fashion. During their ice cream, they finalized their plans to introduce her to the Waynes–the Batfamily would come later.
They strolled back to Marientte’s house and Marinette headed to the kitchen to make some tea, as the wind had cooled off the air on their way back.
In the living room, Damian enlisted the help of the kwami to set up his surprise.
Hearing his soulmate come down the hallway, he jumped up to take the tray and place it on the table. The kwami bobbed around the room, holding candles.
The floor had more lit candles flickering in the breeze, interspersed with roses and wildflowers of various colours.
She gasped and put her hands over her mouth as he knelt in front of her, holding a box in his hand.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, I love you. Even if we weren’t soulmates, I like to think that I would have chosen you to build a life with. Every time I see you or hear you or even just get a text from you, my day becomes a little brighter. Will you do me the immense honour of becoming my wife?”
“Absolutely! Yes! I love you too, Damian, so much.” She flung her arms around his neck and let the happy tear escape.
Damian slid the gold, sapphire, and diamond ring on her left ring finger.
“This was one thing my mother gave me when I last saw her,” he said. “It was her mother’s.”
The couple curled up on the couch, talking quietly together.
The kwami blew out the candles and smiled happily at the scene, glad their Guardian had found her soulmate and was so happy with him.
~~~
Were there clues I didn't see?
On the twenty-second of June, Chloe drove Marinette to 1007 Mountain Drive.
Alfred answered Mari’s knock. “How may I help you, Miss?”
‘May I see Damian Wayne, please?”
“I’m afraid he’s occupied at the moment. Whom shall I say is asking?”
‘He’s expecting me, Mr. Pennyworth. Mademoiselle Dupain-cheng.”
Damian came downstairs. ‘Who’s there, Alfred?”
Titus came bounding to greet Mari, and she bent over him, cooing at him as she rubbed his ears.
“How unusual. Normally, Titius does not greet strangers. It’s a Mlle. Dupain-Cheng, Master Damian. She says you are expecting her.”
“Oh, this early? Yes, I am.” He approached Mari, nodding at Chloe, who was standing behind her. “Hello.”
“Hey, Damian. Um, is everyone in position?”
“I believe so. This family is rather unpredictable. Alfred, is the family in the living room or the den?”
“Living room, Master Damian. Shall I prepare tea?”
“Yes, please. Thank you, Pennyworth.”
Chloe stepped around Mari, who was occupied with loving Titus. “Hey, loverboy. Filming okay?”
“Yes. Send it to me to review first, though, please.”
“Sure.”
The trip arrived at the living room, where Bruce, Tim, Dick and Kor’i, Jason, Babs, Cass, and Steph were gathered quietly.
Babs and Bruce were playing chess while Cass observed, Steph was painting Dick’s nails while Kori gave her a pedicure, Jason was reading, and Tim was on his laptop ‘in the crime-solving zone.’
They all looked up at the unknown visitors but saw Damian with the two girls and relaxed slightly.
“Grayson, Todd, Drake, Brown. I believe I win the bet. This is MDC, better known as Marinette Dupain-Cheng., and her manager-slash-friend, Chloe Bourgeois. Pay up."
Grumbles filled the room as wallets were emptied into Damian’s outstretched hand.
Bruce looked at them tiredly, then up to Mari.
“I apologize for his manners. Did he drag you here, possibly against your will?”
Marinette laughed. “No, I’m friends with him. I came here of my own accord and am quite used to D’s behaviours."
“I loooovee your work!" gushed Steph. "Is it true you know Fairy and Jagged Stone? Your fits on them are sensational!”
“Yes, I’m their main designer and stylist. I do some work for Clara Nightingale and other celebrities as well.”
Tim raised his head and stared hard at them. “You’re the girl crying in Louie’s!”
Marinette stared at Chloe, who said, "Dive bar, October 5, two years ago.”
“Ohhh. Yes, I am. You’re antidote-brother Drake.”
The family stared at Tim and Marinette in confusion.
Chloe explained.
“October fifth, a year and a half ago, Marinette ran into Damian, who thought he was drugged. He told us to find ‘Drake', who would have the antidote to said drug.”
“He wasn’t drugged, but he slapped himself anyways. I love that part,” chuckled Jason, standing up to meet them properly.
“So he really didn’t insult you and you didn’t slap him?” Dick asked curiously.
“No, I watched him do it himself," Mari said. “You’re Dick, married to model Kory Anders?”
"Yep!”
Marinette greeted each family member correctly, even before they introduced themselves.
“Aww, you talk about us to your friends, Baby Bird?”
Damian ignored Dick’s cooings but Marinette grinned, seeing the opportunity for chaos.
“Oh, he often tells me about you. You guys running into each other is the highlight of my week!” she grinned.
The Waynes exchanged glances. They only ran into each other on patrol, mid-air.
“Will you stay for lunch, Mlles. Dupain-Cheng and Bourgeois?” asked Alfred, coming in with the tea.
“If it’s not an imposition
”
“Not at all; maybe the presence of such polite young ladies as yourselves will inspire them to act civilized for once,” sniffed Alfred.
The girls smirked.
~~~~~
At lunch, Marinette was seated beside Damian and Bruce. Chloe was between Bruce and Jason. Beyond Jason were Dick, Lory, and Babas, and to Damian’s right were Cass, Steph, and Tim.
“So, Marinette, you met Demon Spawn in October?” Jason flicked his fork back and forth. “He doesn’t normally open up so fast– whoops.”
The fork ‘slipped” and sailed towards the guest.
Not batting an eyelash, she caught it just before it hit her neck and sweetly handed it back, replying. “Yes, we just felt a connection. Some similar experiences, we just felt
 drawn to each other, and now I think he’s one of my best friends, barring Chloe and my-pet, Tikki.”
"Huh, that’s a nice ring.” Bruce complimented, noticing the flash of colour on her hand.
She smiled at him. “Thank you. It’s my fiance’s mother’s ring, so it’s very special to me.”
“Oh, you’re engaged? Congratulations!”
“Thank you. He’s very sweet. All my friends and family approve of him as well, so I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that. I haven’t officially met his, yet.”
“Oh, I’m sure they’ll love you. You seem like a wonderful young lady.”
“I’m glad you think so, Mr. Pennyworth. This meal is quite delicious, by the way."
“Why, thank you, Miss Marinette.”
“I hope you’ll meet your fiance’s family soon before you’re married.”
“I’m actually meeting them right now.”
A couple of seconds later the table exploded while Chloe laughed behind her phone and Marinette casually ate her soup.
“Who are you engaged to?!”
Marientte blinked at Tim. “Damian, of course.”
“Did he kidnap you, threaten your pare-” Jason was cut off by a sharp look from Chloe.
“No, he asked and I said yes. You’re all invited to the wedding; it’s the tenth of October.”
~~~~~
“You’re engaged after knowing each other for eight months?”
“Yes, we’ve seen each other almost every day and know
 enough about each other. I don’t think there are any big secrets we haven’t told each other.”
The family eyed them from behind their glasses. Does she know he’s Robin?
“No offence, but we’d like to do a background check on you,” said Tim.
“Some taken,” she replied. “You think Damian wasn’t thorough enough? But since I’m aware that’s how you show you care, go ahead.”
“...So, you design and make clothing?”
“In basic terms, yes. I have a storefront in Gotham called Lucky Charms. My home address is 195 Andes Plaza. You’ll find most of my information is from Paris, so I do hope you speak French.”
“Of course, we all do. Bruce made us learn for
business. WE has a branch in Paris,” covered up Tim.
“Oh, it is a family venture, that’s nice. My parents had a bakery, and I often helped out.”
“Had?”
“It burned down the night I met you. I’d just been informed there were no survivors,” said Marinette coldly.
The conversation died down a little.
~~~~~
After Damian took Marinette and Chloe home, the family retreated to the Batcave to research Marinette, aka MDC.
Glowing reviews from Jagged Stone, Audrey Bourgeois, Clara Nightingale, Adrien Agreste, huh
Fairy wasn’t nearly as enthusiastic about MDC’s work, though that’s all she wears.
After a bit more searching, Babs found Mari’s birth certificate and her parents’ death certificates, confirming she was who she said.
Then Tim hacked into Mari’s school records. “Great grades till our equivalent of Grade 8, then they slip for a quarter, then back up, but not nearly as high as before. Something happened then– can you guys find anything?”
“No, nothing in the media
nothing comes up in personal, either
She starts going for therapy at a Master Fu’s
for two years. She was fifteen when he died.”
“Therapy for what? Physical? Mental?”
“I don’t know.”
“Her school records are great. She’s the class president
.who basically does the teacher’s job for her! The class loves her
there are two transfers
reports of bullying increase
why are they ignored?!” exclaimed Babs, hacking deeper into the college’s records. “She’s expelled, but it’s retracted. She skips a grade and graduates early
”
“I see we have some things to look into. Anything else? More recent?”
“The class suddenly stop being her friends. Two remain by her side
Chloe and Adrien Agreste. Two friends outside of school
her social life dies after that grade drop in Grade 8.”
“Something’s off about her
her address is two blocks away from us. How does she have enough money to buy it in cash? Check Damian’s records; does his bank account look like he’s acting out of character? Increase in spending since October?” Bruce looked up from his studying of Mari’s records and addressed his children.
“She also bought Lucky Charms in cash, and a motorcycle.”
“Nothing new in Damian’s bank accounts, although he did buy a suit from MDC worth a chunk, it’s not enough to financially support anyone for a long time, especially not at Marinette’s current spending level."
“Marinette routinely purchases large amounts of fruits and vegetables, sugar cubes, and Camembert. It’s a lot and way too frequent for two girls living alone, even if they were both vegetarian.”
Damian entered the Batcave. “Is there anything you would like to ask me about Marinette?”
“What’s up with her eating habits?”
Damian looked confused, then appeared to realize something. “Don’t judge people’s eating habits; that is quite rude.”
“Why does Marinette as Marinette have no friends or social media?”
“Tt. Not everyone is an internet addict these days. Some people value their privacy, especially when they’ve been relentlessly bullied since middle school because classmates lied about them.”
“Why did she need therapy in Grade 8? What happened?”
“A transfer student arrived, was jealous of her and spread lies, causing her to be bullied by her so-called ‘friends’. There was a supervillain terrorizing Paris from then till June two years ago, when Paris’s heroes defeated him. I was told the mayor refused to let them contact the League, and it was decided to be for the best. Marinette was once a temporary hero called Multimouse, and Bourgeois used to be Queen Bee. Now that the situation is over, you should be able to access articles from Paris about Hawkmoth and the Miraculous Team.”
The Batfamily frantically turned their detective skills to this shocking development, and Robin and Spoiler headed out on patrol.

Four Times Marinette teleported to where she would be safest, and the one time she was already there—Part Three
Okay, so, obviously being out of school didn’t help me finish this at all. I discovered recently that I have a phobia to plots which kept me from finishing this earlier. I had originally planned this series out to be one shots that sort of went together, with little plot besides the daminette aspect to it. This, however, is plot heavy. So. Much. Plot. SO many details to keep track of throughout each chapter
 My anxiety said “How about no?” But! I am back! And more determined than ever to finish! Just two (I think?) more chapters after this one! And they’re mostly written already! Hooray! I hope you like it!
I think this may read a little clunky and seem to jump around a lot, but there is a reason for everything, I promise! A lot to unpack in this chapter. Lots of emotions to work through and decisions to be made.
Without further ado:
First - Last - AO3 - Next
A month passed since the start of Marinette having the Wayne’s on her side.
Three akumas passed with ease in the time, leading to their monitoring the situation, but not really needing to assist. Her parents were ecstatic that Marinette had an internship at such a prominent company and they noticed how much effort she put into everything she did. They had concerns about Marinette slipping in school or taking on too much like she had in the past, but after a long conversation about priorities and responsibilities, Marinette stepped down as class president and her parents decided to hire a temp so Marinette wouldn’t have to step in all the time.
She and her parents started having family nights every Sunday where they either bake, play video games, or watch movies. Their trust in Marinette was slowly starting to be restored, and Marinette loved being able to not lie outlandishly to her parents all the time. Even though she was still technically lying, Marinette felt better telling her parents she had internship stuff to do, and then following through.
The first few weeks were bumpy, jumping from disappearing during an akuma attack to going to her internship, but learning about business and how to market her brand
 it was like being paid to do what she loved.
Along with getting used to her internship, Marinette also started feeling more comfortable leaning on the Wayne’s for support, whether it just be to talk or when she was struggling.
Like a few days ago when Lila had ruined Marinette’s newly made sundress by “accidentally” spilling paints all over Marinette’s desk. Lila had immediately started sobbing through an apology, trying to rub out the paints which only ruined the expensive, sensitive fabric more.
Marinette had broken down, knowing there wasn’t anything she could do for the fabric and ran home. Unluckily for her, the Wayne’s had been monitoring the school more closely and Tim had just happened upon the footage of Lila very purposefully grabbing a pallet of paint and “tripping” onto Marinette.
A video call from Dick and Tim calmed her down and gave her some advice about being more aware of her surroundings and how to take care of her things so that people don’t find them or get them away from her easily. Jason also had some choice words of advice about how to get out of fights even if she started one, making her laugh.
She had went back to school the next day with her head held high and ignored everyone’s attempts at justifying Lila’s behavior and villainizing Marinette’s. Marinette thought long and hard that day about her friends in the class, and, after Damian’s prompting, decided that “taking the high road” wasn’t in her best interest, no matter how selfish she felt putting herself before her friends and classmates.
Which lead her to where she was, pulling Adrien aside after class when she knew he had some free time and even looked grateful that she pulled him away from Lila.
“We need to talk,” was all she said, and he followed her all the way to the bakery and up to her room silently.
After they sat in silence for a moment, Marinette to gather her thoughts and Adrien to admire her new setup—She had taken all of his photos and other crush memorabilia she had out, and painted her room a lavender color with white and gold accents. More sophisticated and mature, Damian had said with what she would take as pride after she facetimed him the first time since she redid it.—Marinette turned towards Adrien and tried to prepare herself for whatever outcome could come her way.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
“Adrien, I need to tell you something, and I need you to let me talk until I’m done.” At his concerning frown and hesitant nod, Marinette straightened up and looked him right in the eyes, trying to channel the Wayne’s confidence and all the advice they had given her up until that point. “I won’t stay silent about Lila anymore. You said that what she’s doing isn’t hurting anyone, but you’re wrong. As you friend, I was hoping you would give me the chance to prove it to you. Otherwise
” Marinette swallowed, and clenched her fists. “Otherwise, I don’t think I can be friends with you or the rest of the class anymore.”
The alarm and hurt on Adrien’s face both wounded and relieved her. At least he genuinely cared for her. She wasn’t really sure about any of her friends in the class anymore.
“Marinette-” he cut himself off and took a shaky breath. “I’ll listen. Of course I’ll listen to you, Marinette. I
 You were one of the first friends I made here
 I don’t want to lose you over her.” His voice was so soft and emotional, and Marinette grabbed his hands in hers and pulled him closer to her.
“I’m sorry to make such an ultimatum. You know I’d never do anything to hurt you, right?” He nodded instantly and Marinette sighed. And then she told him everything. How Lila’s lies to their classmates could hurt them in the long run, how she keeps purposefully causing akuma attacks, and, finally, how Lila was obviously attacking both Adrien and Marinette.
“She’s bullying me, Adrien, and she’s harassing you,” Marinette said bluntly, if a little stern. If she was channeling Damian a bit there, no one else needed to know except for Tikki who was bursting with pride at her Lady Guardian. “I understand that you were homeschooled and that your father is really strict, but this can’t keep going on. The people around you who truly love and care about you should never stand by when you’re obviously getting uncomfortable or hurt.” Adrien was pale, and he looked as stricken as she felt, but she powered on.
“Badmouthing me to everyone who will listen, where I can hear her while she knows I promised you I wouldn’t do anything about it
 she’s been hurting me since she threatened me when she first got here and I tried to expose her. I won’t let her hurt you or me anymore. Have you ever wanted her by your side? Hugging you? Trying to convince the class that you should be dating? Coupling up with you at every chance?” Marinette tried not to cringe at how she could relate to some of the words she was spouting. Between her, Lila, and Chloe, there was a good chance Adrien would never know what proper courting and dating behavior should be if she didn’t get through to him. “If she wasn’t working for your father, if she wasn’t lying about everything convincingly, she would’ve been removed from our class, maybe even our school, by now. No one would put up with her and they would be supporting us more. Now, it’s more complicated, because the class truly believes her every word, and we’ve been too complicit, but I would rather stand against her and take whatever consequences come with that than stand aside and let the people that I once cared about and called my friends be used and abused by a faker. I need to look out for myself from now on. I feel selfish, but I can’t keep babysitting the entire class to make sure Lila’s lies don’t hurt them permanently and stay sane. It’s part of the reason I stepped down as class president, and part of the reason I can’t keep staying friends with people who won’t have my back when I need them.”
Marinette tried to calm her breathing and watched Adrien’s face wearily for any signs that he would brush her aside or take Lila’s side. She didn’t want to lose him, didn’t want to lose any of them, but she wouldn’t keep drowning herself to make sure everyone else stayed afloat.
“
I
 I am so sorry, Marinette,” he finally said, pulling her into a surprise hug. She could hear the thickness in his voice and felt her eyes fill with tears in response as she held him tightly. “I never thought that
 No, I knew that what Lila was doing was wrong, but I thought everything would work itself out.” Adrien pulled away from their hug, but kept her hands in his, giving them a squeeze and a wobbly smile. “My father wants me to keep Lila happy
 but I’m not happy anymore,” he admitted, avoiding her eyes, where she had begun to cry in earnest. “I haven’t been for a long time. What you’re saying now
 I know it’s true. I’ve thought it before, but I just wanted everything to go back to the way it was before. Even though I wasn’t willing to put in the effort to get there. I let Lila hurt you and your reputation—your entire relationship with the rest of the class—just to make my father happy, even though he’s allowed Lila to—to harass me like you said. I think you’re right. Maybe it’s time we be more selfish.”
Marinette pulled him into a hug again and they cried together until Nathalie called demanding that he come home for practice. Adrien and Marinette were pilled on her bed, watching a movie and Adrien gave her a mischievous grin.
“Maybe being more selfish can start with staying with you a little while longer?” He asked gingerly and Marinette smiled at him.
“Maybe we can start with you staying the night. You ever had a sleepover before?” Adrien shut off his phone excitedly and threw it across the room.
“You have to teach me everything about sleepovers!”
~
Having Adrian by her side was something Marinette never really knew she needed in her life. She always wanted him by her side, but not like this. Not like she truly needed him. Not like how he needed her. And no matter what thirteen year old Marinette might’ve thought, Marinette wouldn’t trade the love and friendship she had with Adrien for anything else, and she really believed that she would never have to.
They didn’t do much anything differently in class, though Nino and Lila seemed to know something had changed between them. Maybe it was how they seemed to both disappear together after school all the time, ignoring invites to after class activities
 Or maybe it was how one of them would sneakily intervene whenever Lila would corner the other. The rest of the class didn’t want to cause a fuss, so they turned away whenever the three of them would get into it, which Marinette actually appreciated.
She could fight her own battles now, and so could Adrien as he became more and more outspoken towards Lila’s drama, but fighting the people she once cherished as her closest friends
 it was something that she was most afraid of.
Almost a week of no akuma attacks and peace throughout Paris led to Ladybug taking to the rooftops. The sky was clear and the stars seemed to glow as bright as the lights on the Eiffel Tower, and Marinette was able to actually look around and appreciate her surrounding for the first time in a long time. The way the Seine glowed at night; the people milling around the streets; the sounds of music drifting through the light wind kissing her cheeks. Marinette felt
 bright. Her heart was light and she would bet the world that her soul was taking on a pinkish hue, beating with her heart in time to the sweet piano still playing somewhere.
She ended up, as always, at the top of the Tower, looking out over her city. Seeing her school, her parents’ bakery, Andre’s ice cream stall
 it had been a long time since she could look at these places and the first thought of them be ‘home.’ She closed her eyes and let herself get lost in the music once more.
A noise came from behind her, though she didn’t bother moving from her spot. She had taken to lying down, her legs swinging over the edge of the platform, staring at the sky.
“
My Lady?” Chat’s soft voice drifted around her and she smiled at him upside down. His soul seemed to be lighter than it had been and Marinette couldn’t help but smile at the soothing dance their souls took on as they slowly intertwined with each other.
“Hi, Chaton. Wanna come look at the stars with me?” She asked, returning her gaze to the night sky.
“Oh, um
 of course, My Lady.” Chat walked over to her and sat down, though he didn’t lie next to her. Something was obviously on his mind, but Marinette didn’t ask. She would wait for him to speak, if he wanted to. And if he didn’t want to talk, they could gaze at the stars together and she would let him know she’s there for him.
After a little while, the piano stopped playing. The wind died down and there was less chatter on the streets. Marinette took a breath and sat up, pulling herself around to look at her partner. He was lost in thought, gazing out at their city.
“Chaton
” Marinette started, gazing at him warmly. She had thought about this a lot over the past month, and Tikki and the Waynes seemed to think it would be in their best interest, but there was still something holding her back.
“Ladybug,” Chat said, turning to her and the look in his eyes was determined, and Marinette was hit with a wave of unease, though she cursed herself for it. Chaton meant well, and he was her partner. She shouldn’t feel so uneasy around him just because she knew he had feelings for her. “Ladybug, I need to say something to you and I need you to listen to me, and I need you to listen until I’m done. Please. I—I need to apologize to you.”
Marinette froze. “
What?” She breathed out, confused and dazed and
 hopeful? She shook her head. She would unpack all of those emotions later. “Whatever for, Chaton?”
Chat Noir straightened up, took a breath, and look her right in the eyes. She saw it then. The sadness, the fear, and the resolution there.
“A good friend of mine recently showed me signs of
 harassment. Before, I just thought
 I thought everything was fine no matter how uncomfortable I was
 How upset I was the longer it went on and when my friend helped me out
 I realized I acted the same way with you. You kept telling me over and over again that you didn’t want to reveal our identities. You told me over and over how you didn’t love me back, but I kept pestering you about my feelings and what I wanted. I—I’m so sorry, My Lady. I never should have ignored what you said about how you felt, or got upset when you told me the truth. I’ve realized that
 The truth, no matter how upsetting, is always better than lying, and you’ve never lied to me, My Lady. I hope you can forgive me for pressuring you so much. I swear I’ll be better from now on and be the partner you deserve
 if you still want me to be.”
Marinette felt frozen. There was no way
 Was he really
? Marinette shook herself and sucked in a breath at sudden wobbling of her Chaton’s lips the longer her silence went on.
“Oh, Chaton,” she cried out, pulling him into a hug and holding on as tight as she could as his shoulders shook. “Of course I forgive you. You’re my partner, Chat. No one can replace you. Thank you for apologizing. I
 We’ve been through a lot and
 I’m not going to say it’s okay, making me uncomfortable and not listening to me, but I do believe you. I know how it feels to want to be with someone and everything else falls away. I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t forgive you.”
After a few moments of holding on tight, Chat pulled away and looked her in the eyes. “Thank you, My Lady.”
Marinette knew right then. She knew deep in her soul that she wanted her Chaton to know who she was out of the mask. She knew she could count on him and trust him, and she knew that he felt the same. Their souls swirled together like a storm and she rested her head against his.
“I do love you, Chaton.” She watched as his tearful smile and sweet green eyes met hers warmly.
“I love you too, My Lady.”
~
With Adrien by her side during school, Chaton by her side during akuma attacks, and the Wayne’s with her every day, Marinette knew she was stronger than ever before. Her heart, mind, and soul were finally at peace, and working together versus being constantly at war was liberating. No matter what Lila did, Marinette honestly couldn’t be bothered anymore. She still called Lila out for lying and harassing Adrien, but she could no longer care about the rest of the class’s reaction or Lila starting something every day. Marinette learned how to walk away when the fight wasn’t worth her time.
If a certain green eyed, aloof Wayne came to her mind more and more often as she chose her battles, bringing her a type of strength she never knew she could have
 well, no one needed to know that.
Adrien knew about the Wayne’s and they were aware of him, but both parties didn’t seem interested in knowing more about the other as long as they both supported Marinette. Chaton also knew Ladybug had been in contact with The Batman and his team, leading to an amusing freak out session when she announced that they’d be in contact with them in the next akuma attack.
Except it didn’t quite go as well as Marinette was hoping.
It wasn’t easy focusing on the akuma in front of her while forming her own plan and listening to Tim, Damian, Alfred, and Bruce making comments and giving their own opinions on the fight in her ear.
They just barely manage to defeat the akuma, and Marinette heard hers and Chat’s miraculous timer beep their third warning.
“My Lady?” Chat mumbled, keeping one hand on his side and Marinette tried to keep her balance with Chat’s added weight on her bruised ribs. The timing of her Miraculous Ladybug and a sudden explosion
 was unfortunate, leading her and Chat trying to protect the nearby civilians and damn near getting blown up if she hadn’t pulled a car in front of them at the last second.
Yay for not getting blown up, but still ouch for being squished between a wall and the car.
Lady Luck didn’t seem to be on her side still as more civilians took to the street, demanding to know why Ladybug’s magic didn’t protect them from the bomb. How could their heroes not stop the bomb from going off sooner? Why were they running away instead of cleaning up the mess they made?
Marinette tripped as the fourth beep sounded off, and she barely managed to prevent herself and Chat from collapsing to the ground. There were still people close by and they would surely notice the appearance of two injured teens in place of their missing heroes.
Marinette couldn’t focus. Her hear hurt so bad, and the static in her ear from the earpiece that cut out with the explosion was deafening and she was getting dizzy and Chat was getting heavier and the voices were getting louder—
The sudden appearance of a red portal was all she saw before she gripped Chat tight and jumped just as the final beep of their Miraculous sounded off.
~
Marinette and Chat dropped onto the soft mattress of a bed right as their transformations wore off. Marinette, who landed on top of Chat and kept her face hidden in his shoulder, clutched him tightly to her.
“Um, My Lady?” Chat asked, holding her close and Marinette just knew he kept his eyes closed ever since they transformed, and she felt her dusty rose colored soul warm while it swirled with his minty green. “Did we just go through a portal?”
“
maybe,” she answered, not lifting her head just yet. She knew that if she asked, Chat would look away from her and allow her to mask them both again before he betrayed her trust, and Marinette considered her options.
“You don’t seem too overly concerned about this,” he said, shifting their weight to a more comfortable position. Her side twinged and she knew he must still be hurting as well.
“It might have happened to me once or twice before
” Chat barked out a laugh and Marinette felt her soul shift with his as she made her decision.
“Of course it did, My Lady,” he said softy—fondly. “So
 where are we, exactly? Your house? I’ll keep my eyes closed if you want to go into another room. Plagg and I can be out of here as soon as he’s recharged.”
Marinette took a deep, steadying breath before pulling away from Chat without looking at him and sitting up. They sat back to back on the bed, heads tilted together and Marinette knew for sure. She looked over, finding Tikki and Plagg looking seconds away from passing out on the futon. Marinette gave them both a meaningful look and Tikki nodded her head in understanding while Plagg looked surprised. It was time.
“This isn’t my house, actually, and it’s a little hard to explain.”
“I get it, my lady! Secret identities are important and Master Fu made the rule for a reason. I respect your decision to keep your identity safe, as well as mine.” He sounded so
 proud as he announced the words and Marinette wanted for the hesitation. Waited for the anxiety and the fear
 but it never came. She just felt
 happy. Excited even. Yes, this was right.
“
And if I said I changed my mind?”
Chat’s pause made her smile as she felt him straighten behind her.
“
you can do that?”
“Well, I am Guardian now
 I’ve been thinking a lot about our team, Chat, and while I believe Master Fu’s intentions were good and his rules were necessary for the time, he’s gone now and I’m the Guardian. Things are different, and I trust you,” Marinette grabbed his hand and heard his breath catch.
“My lady, are you sure?” He asked vehemently, and she felt her eyes sting. Kwami, she loved him. Loved him with her whole heart and soul.
“Yes, chaton. I’m sure. I want us to be able to support each other completely. How can we truly be partners if we don’t know each other? I was scared for a long time, but I’m not scared anymore. I trust you, Chaton, and I love you.”
“
Alright, My Lady. I trust you and I love you. I’ve never regretted taking your lead, and I will follow you to the end.”
“Together?” Marinette asked, pulling her hand away and standing. She heard her Chaton do the same and took a breath. She had never felt this exposed
 this seen and he hadn’t even looked at her yet.
“Together.”
They turned around. Blue met green and Marinette let out a laugh. A laugh of pure disbelief and joy that she couldn’t stop if she wanted to. Adrien smiled fondly at her while she giggled and walked around the bed to her.
He grabbed onto her hands tightly and brought them up to his lips. They were both crying now, tears slipped from the corners of their eyes and met at the curves of their lips that were wearing matching smiles.
“My Lady
 I wish I could say I was surprised
 but it’s always been you, hasn’t it?” He said, not letting go of her hands as they gazed at each other.
“It’s always been us, Chaton,” she corrected, and she pulled him to her and held on tight. “It will always be us.” Marinette knew a year ago she would’ve thought their embrace was romantic—knew that anyone could walk through the door and think they were a couple, embarrassingly enough—but she knew they were on the same page. Knew that when they met eyes unmasked that first time, it felt like coming home. The Lucky Ladybug and her Black Cat would always find home in each other, and she would never let him go.
~
Marinette waited until Adrien was asleep as comfortably as he could be while still injured with Tikki and Plagg watching over him before heading out the door. Unfortunately, she didn’t remember where she was in the Manor or how to get to the Batcave from where she was, and she didn’t have either of her phones on her since the akuma attack caught them off guard during school. Her ribs ached with every step she took, but it wasn’t bad enough to make her stop.
They were probably worried since her comms cut out after the explosion, but surely they would see the news where she and Chat—Adrien—disappeared. She vaguely recalled hearing Damian shout her name when the explosion occurred and felt her chest warm, though she decided to ignore it.
She tried the door next to hers, but it was locked, which seemed to be the trend down the hall as she tried each one. At the end of the hall, there was what looked like a servants staircase and she decided if the Batcave were anywhere, it’d be as far down as she could go.
Except her hand didn’t even meet the door knob when someone’s hand gripped her shoulder tightly and pushed her up against the wall. Marinette’s right arm was pinned behind her back, but her left arm was free, so she got her palm flat against the wall and prepared herself despite the throbbing in her side and head at the sudden attack.
“Who the hell are you?” A female voice snarled at her, and Marinette pushed against the wall, kicking off of it and coming up behind her attacker, moving her arm so that it wouldn’t come out twisted and wrapping it around the girl’s throat.
“Who are you?” Marinette yelled back, not letting up even as the woman elbowed her in her bruised side.
The woman seemed to freeze at Marinette’s words and dropped her guard enough that Marinette pushed to woman to the ground and flung herself towards the stairs as she heard the scrambling sound of her attacker coming after her.
She managed to race down the stairs just as she noticed a door at the bottom that was conveniently opening as she met the last step.
Her attacker reached the top of the stairs just as Marinette got to the door and hoped the person behind it didn’t see or hear her coming. Whoever opened the door was looking behind him and talking with someone. His mistake. Marinette didn’t recognize him either so she bolted down the last few stairs, not bothering with being stealthy, and launched her feet at the person who had just started to turn around at the noise. She hit him square in the right side with both of her feet and caught herself from falling with him by gripping the doorframe and launching herself over his falling body.
It wouldn’t be enough to knock him out, but it would slow him down enough that she could attempt to find the Wayne’s or get away to call for help. There were two women standing in the hall who turned at the noise, but Marinette saw them before they saw her and grabbed the rug as she ran along the hall, making them lose their balance and trip over each other in surprise. For good measure, Marinette flung the heavy rug over the two of them without stopping.
“Hey!” and “What the fuck,” came from behind her, but she just hoped they would be tripping over each other for another minute or so while she fled.
Marinette rounded a corner and ran straight into someone else, who grabbed her arms to prevent them both from falling. Marinette didn’t even look him in the face before she flipped his arms around so she had hold of him and dropped backwards, using her legs to fling him over her head and onto his back with an audible “oof” while she rolled from her back onto her feet.
She continued into a foyer where her exit laid. A large set of wooden double doors offset by beautiful ceiling high windows. Marinette dashed to the doors and pulled them open with ease despite their size. She took a single step outside when she heard people behind her.
“Marinette!” She skidded to a halt and turned, panting hard and finding Damian, Alfred, and Bruce Wayne coming from the stairs above her. To her left, Dick and Jason rounded the corner with concerned looks on their faces, and to the right, the group of people she got passed in the hall came through just as Damian and the others reached the bottom of the stairs.
“Who in the hell is the girl who used a rug like a fucking cartoon character?” One of the young women in the room asked. She had shoulder blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
“Tripped you up, didn’t it?” Marinette shot back, still feeling vulnerable and uncertain about the group of people in the room. This was her safe place
 but not at the same time. The safe place she came to before was with a few of the men she knew whose souls resonated with her. These people were a mix of different souls and emotions, and some of them obviously didn’t know who she was and mostly likely also didn’t know about her identity.
“Why were you running through the house like a madwoman anyways? Don’t you recognize me, Ladynette? I’m hurt,” one of the men said, pouting at her. Tim. She had just thrown him onto his back.
“Oh no, Tim, I’m so sorry, I just reacted on instinct when I ran into you. Um
” Marinette shifted on her feet and look wearily at Bruce. “I was teleported back here after the akuma fight with my partner, Chat Noir. We ended up in the room I used last time I was here and I thought it would be best to come find someone since I didn’t have my phones on me when someone attacked me in the hall.” She shot the dark haired woman a look as Alfred came behind her to close the front door.
“When a strange girl appears in my family’s home, I don’t ask questions first, little girl. What’s your excuse?”
“When someone attacks me while injured, I don’t ask questions either, and I certainly don’t sit there answering all their questions while they have me pinned to a wall.”
Damian was at her side in the next moment, tugging on her elbow and looking her over, catching her attention. Jason also sided up to her, throwing an arm over her shoulders and making a face at Damian. Bruce and Dick were shouldering the other girl in between them as well.
“Alright,” Bruce said, “that’s enough. Introductions should be in order now, I believe. Marinette, this is Cass. Cass, this is Marinette, our sporadic guest we discussed.” Cass didn’t reveal much on her face, but the tightening of her lips and the slight twitch of her eye told Marinette enough as Dick nudged her with his elbow. Cass didn’t move, and Bruce looked at her disapprovingly, opening his mouth to say something.
Marinette sighed before marching up to Cass before he could, feeling drained from the sudden burst of adrenaline and feeling the throbbing in her head and side return with a vengeance. “I’m sorry we got off on the wrong foot. You were just trying to protect your home and family from a stranger. I was still
 defensive when you grabbed me. I should’ve known better than to think someone random would get into this house.” She tried for a smile, but it came out as a grimace as she adjusted her footing to ease her side.
Cass narrowed her eyes before relaxing and nodding once. “I apologize as well. Your maneuvering while in your state was impressive.”
Jason snorted behind her and threw an arm around Marientte’s shoulders again, causing her to suck in a breath at the jostling.
“Shit,” he said, immediately pulling away but keeping her steady, “sorry, little lady. Let’s get you looked at.”
Alfred was looking over her bruised side as she laid on a plush couch when Tim, Jason, and Damian came into the room.
“Bruce is speaking with the rest of the family now. They had been told about you before, but I don’t think they really expected you to just show up out of nowhere,” Tim explained while they circled around her. Instead of feeling surrounded in such a vulnerable situation— injured and with her shirt off—Marinette felt safe with them all around her. She shivered at the cold patch Alfred applied to her side.
“You have some bruising, but nothing appears to be broken, My Lady Guardian. How’s your head?” Alfred asked, helping her sit up.
“Better now,” she answered honestly. Whatever Alfred had given her eased the pain while allowing her to remain focused. “I’m not hurt anywhere else. The Ladybug Cure healed everything from the akuma attack. The explosion is what got my side and head.”
“We saw,” Damian said briskly where he stood to her side with his arms crossed. “The news caught what happened when your comms went out. Do you know where the explosion came from?”
Marinette shook her head slowly, not wanting to cause the throbbing to come back. “Someone started screaming about a bomb and Chat and I tried getting the area clear as quickly as we could. We were still too close once the crowd cleared so I pulled a nearby car over for protection which blew us back, but kept us safe at least. He’s upstairs still, sleeping now. I think his leg is hurt, and maybe his head, but he seemed to be as good as me when I left.”
“Your partner is ok with being here?” Jason asked, sitting next to her and helping Alfred pull her shirt back over her head without stretching her side.
“
I haven’t told him where we are yet. Though I did reveal my identity, which went
 better than I thought it would.” Marinette couldn’t help but smile and rested her head against the back of the couch.
“I’ll take you back to your room,” Damian suddenly announced, stalked out of the room before Marinette had even processed his words.
She missed the Look Alfred, Tim, and Jason shared over her head as she stood slowly.
“Um, I’ve been meaning to ask
 About Chat Noir
” She looked uncomfortably away from their warm gazes. “I can have us teleport back to Paris as soon as our kwamis are recharged, and I take a look at Chat’s leg.”
Jason rubbed her head and gave her a smile. “We already discussed what would happen if your partner were to ever stop by, little lady. If you want to tell him where he is and who we are, we don’t mind. You’re a team and we wouldn’t ask you to keep our secret from him. Not if we want to keep working together in the future.”
Marinette felt her eyes sting again and she nodded shyly, unable to properly thank them through the lump in her throat.
Alfred passed along the first aid kit he was using to Marinette and patted her cheek.
“Go look after you partner, My Lady Guardian,” he said, “I’ll bring up some food for all of you in a little while.”
~
Marinette and Damian didn’t speak for a while as he led her to the room she was in. The made it all the way to the foyer before he slowed just enough that she was nearly walking by his side.
“Your attempt at escaping was admirable, but you should have been more forceful if you thought you were in a potentially dangerous situation,” Damian said as they walked. Being so close to him as she trailed after him once again was distracting to her. Why was his soul so
 loud to her? “What did you think?” He continued, not bothering to turn around to see her reaction. “That they broke in? Rendering a potential enemy unconscious would be far more effective in a getaway than tripping them or knocking them down.”
His tone was cold. He sounded harsh, but Marinette could sense that he was trying to get a point across without saying it. He obviously knew what he was talking about, and he wasn’t one to sugar coat things. She could respect that.
She hummed in agreement and felt his soul flicker for some reason. “You’re right,” Marinette said and Damian turned his head at her. She caught a glimpse of surprise in his eyes before he jerked his head around again. “I was so concerned about just getting out of the house that I didn’t think ahead. If this was a different situation, I would have gotten caught just outside.”
“
Correct. And you don’t know where we are, do you? An unfamiliar territory could hurt you more than waiting to take stock of where you are or who has you.” They started up the stairs, going at a much slowly pace thanks to her ribs.
Marinette sighed. “Guess I should add ‘What to do in a kidnapping situation’ to my research list right under ‘What to do in a bombing.’” She swore she saw Damian’s lips curl as he glanced at her once again before continuing ahead.
“I’m surprised your instincts proved resourceful enough to allow you to get passed four well trained individuals after a draining attack and while still injured.”
“‘A Guardian must trust her instincts above all else to protect the vulnerable and stay one step ahead of her enemies,” Marinette recited proudly, bursting with the unspoken praise in Damian’s words.
Damian paused at a door at the end of the hall and Marinette tilted her head at him.
“Everyone will be waiting in the dining room for you both if you decide to stay. It’s been a while since everyone’s been together for dinner, so Father and Alfred are making a big deal out of it. You and your
 partner are welcome to join us. I trust you’ll be able to find your way back to the foyer from here?”
Marinette hummed and smiled at him, feeling her soul swirl happily with his. Something about his eyes
 she could get lost in them easily if she let herself, but she wasn’t going to go down that road. Not again.
He opened his mouth to say something when a thump came from the room that drew their attention.
“Perhaps I’ll see you, then,” he said briskly as he turned away.
“Thank you for your advice,” she called after him softly, hand on the door to her room. “I really appreciate it.” She entered the room with a smile that grew at the sight of Adrien on the ground while Tikki and Plagg snuggled together on the bed.
“Little help here, My Lady?” Adrien asked when he saw her in the open doorway.
“Of course, Chaton,” she giggled, letting the door close behind her, missing the way Damian had paused by the door to the stairwell, rubbing at his chest as if that would stop his heart from beating out of it.

Word Count: 6645
Hehehe, this chapter was soooooo fun to write, but it had soooooo much content in it and I kept having to go back and forth between chapters to make sure I was presenting the right information and emotions accurately. Also, what the hell is with the Wayne’s eyes?? I kept having to look it up and came up with different examples of whether Damian’s and Jason’s eyes were blue or green, so I just settled on them both being green because of the Lazarus Pits (ignoring Bruce’s dealings with it completely because why not? So Bruce’s and the other boys’ eyes are blue.)
What to look forward to in the next part: More interactions with the rest of the Batfahm and the rest of the class, and a look into Marinette’s internship as well as Adrien’s sudden burst of rebellion getting much, much worse. Hope you like it! Comments are always welcome!

"I am not Chat noir anymore , I am Chat blanc "
Was he rejecting himself ?
Do you think Chat held himself guilty for killing the love of his life and his father plus innocent people and thus didn't wanted to be Chat noir anymore ?
Because he couldn't bear being him ?
And he was glad he wasn't the Chat who was weak enough to lose ? But that , he was the Chat who was strong to bring everything back to how it originally was ?

Marinette almost missed Hawkmoth. Sure, she ended up extremely emotionally repressed, but hey! At least her opponent was stupid, at least she never had to fear losing.
But, yeah, that was why she didn’t notice the fact that chloroform was on the floor. That was way too smart for a villain, in her opinion. Wasn’t Joker supposed to be insane or something? Why wasn’t he completely stupid like Hawkmoth had been?
Those were her last thoughts before her vision blacked out.
She blinked her eyes open one time while she was being transported, but
 it wasn’t enough. Her head pounded, her limbs felt like lead. She tried to pull one of her arms away from the five goons carrying her around -- she giggled at how much effort they were going through to keep a half-conscious person down -- but it was too weak to even break their grip. She wasn’t going to be getting out of the situation anytime soon.
She rested her head back against the chest of whoever was carrying her head.
Her eyes fluttered shut without her permission.
It took a while for her to be able to open her eyes again, and when she did she was almost tempted to close them. She was tied up with Red Robin, hanging upside down over a vat of acid. Decidedly not a good situation to be in. Maybe she could ignore it for a little longer
?
She buried her face in the neck of Red Robin’s suit, using the cool material as a kind of cold pack to try and soothe her pounding headache.

 wait... Red Robin!
She had a bit of protection because of her mask covering her mouth and nose and miraculous immune system, but he was a human and both his mouth and nose were uncovered! Shit!
Marinette pulled back as much as she could to check his face and see if he was okay and then cursed the domino mask blocking his eyes from her view. What she could see wasn’t good, though: the skin of his face had broken out into hives where he had come into contact with the chloroform. Ouch.
She tried just poking the good parts of his face with her nose to get him to wake up, but clearly that wasn’t working. Alright, new plan.
“Red Robin?” She whispered.
Nothing.
“Red Robin Red Robin Red Red Red Red Red
”
She was pretty sure she was doing this annoying thing right. She didn’t have siblings, how could she know?
Wait wait wait, what was that one thing that his siblings always said to him?
“Reeeeed Robin, yum~.”
Not even that got a response? Damn, he must really be out of it.
Time for drastic measures, then.
She tipped her head back as far back as it could go and then slammed her forehead against his. This evoked a lot of swearing from both parties. Apparently, headbutting people doesn’t help headaches.
When her head stopped ringing as loudly, she peeked her eyes open. “Sorry, checking to see if you were alive.”
He gave about as much of a nod as he could. “It’s
 I understand why you had to do it.”
She gave a tentative smile. “Right. Still, sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he assured her, then glanced down to see what they were working with. He bit his lip anxiously. “Ah, that’s not good,” he said after a few moments of consideration.
She rolled her eyes because, yeah, obviously. She didn’t say that aloud, it wasn’t productive, so she said: “I’m going to squirm. See if you can free your arms a little?”
“Do you think I have some kind of gadget in my gloves for every situation?”
“Don’t you?”
He hesitated. “I mean
 yes, I do have something that could help us out of the ropes, but we are kinda over acid right now. How fast is your reaction time?”
She tipped her head from side to side with an awkward smile. “Not great.”
“Then maybe we should just wait for backup --.”
“Do you think they’ll get here before Joker does?”
“... you’re right. Start squirming --.”
“Wow, you two hate me that much? I’m hurt,” a voice cooed.
Marinette jumped out of her skin. She craned her neck to glare at Joker for scaring her

And immediately regretted it. Why was his face not attached to his skull properly? Did he cut his own face off? Who even does that? Ew.
Red Robin scowled at him. “I can’t say we were all glad to hear you were out.”
“Red Robin...” she warned.
“Wow, not even old Batsy was happy to hear the news?”
“Nope. Didn’t say anything, actually.”
Joker’s smile wavered. “He didn’t?”
“Um, Red,” she tried again.
“Nothing,” he confirmed. “Not. A. Word.”
Joker didn’t seem to know what to do about this information. Batman wasn’t even paying attention to him? What was the point, then?
Marinette was also concerned about what was going on, but for a completely different reason. She leaned close to his ear and whispered: “Why are we trying to anger the psychopath?”
He gave as much of a shrug as he could while tied up. “If he’s talking he’s not trying to kill us.”
“And what if he gets angry enough to kill us?”
“He probably won’t.”
She winced. “Okay, I really don’t like your use of ‘probably’ there --.”
With both of their hands forced behind their backs, the only comfort he could really give was pressing his good cheek to hers. It shouldn’t have worked, but apparently life or death situations mess with your emotions.
“Just
 trust me?” He pleaded quietly.
She sucked in a deep breath before turning to glare at Joker, who was still having a crisis over the fact that Batman didn’t care as much as he did. Well, she guessed that she had to take out her headache on someone. Might as well be the bitch in ugly clown makeup.
“You know, I don’t even understand why people are scared of you.”
Joker frowned and turned to look at her. “What?”
“I mean, I get why Poison Ivy is feared, I get why Mr. Freeze is feared
 I even get Penguin and Riddler since they both have a high enough intellect to make up for their lack of powers
 but you’re just
 some guy.”
Joker gave her a cold look. “I could kill you.”
“So could a particularly determined cow, you’re not special.”
Red Robin snickered. She smiled, a little proud of herself for making him laugh.
Their grins were wiped off their faces when the rope holding them up dropped.
It caught them again dangerously close to the acid. Red Robin was a few centimeters from getting a new haircut. Marinette wondered, morbidly, whether her suit would go with her if she disintegrated.
“Not going to kill us, huh?”
“... well, I did say probably,” he mumbled, his face a little red.
She swallowed thickly. “If we live, I’m going to kill you.”
“Fair. Want to mess with him if he’s going to kill us anyways?”
“... yes.” She whipped around to glare at Joker again. “I mean, honestly, why aren’t you dead yet?”
“We don’t kill,” supplied Red Robin.
She grinned. “Sure, and I get that. I’m also not fond of murder... but is every citizen in Gotham just agreeing to not kill him? Does Batman spend all his time making sure that civilians don’t do it? Why hasn’t anyone seen him on the street and just tried to run him over?”
“... I mean, Robin hit him with the Batmobile once.”
“See?” She grinned. “And don’t even get me started on Punchline and your goons, Joker. How did you find so many people loyal to you?”
“I love him!” Said Punchline defensively.
“... sweetie, if you want a pasty white guy with green hair just watch 2016 Jacksepticeye.”
Red Robin nodded. “At least he’s kind of funny sometimes.”
“If you need the guy to be evil, how about the evil alter ego he made
 what was he called?”
“Antisepticeye.”
“Ha, you’re a fucking nerd,” Marinette teased.
Red Robin blushed (or maybe that was just the blood slowly rushing to their heads from being upside down for so long) and pointedly ignored her: “Look up Antisepticeye. It’ll probably be healthier for you.”
Punchline didn’t have a retort for that. Marinette was deciding that was because she was considering it, not because she probably didn’t know who Jack/Antisepticeye was.
She pushed on: “And, hey, you goons don’t have to give Punchline over there the glory. Stab your boss. C’mon, it’ll be cool. Doubt he’s paying you more than whatever bounty is on his head, anyways.”
“If you’re going to rally henchmen maybe you shouldn’t call them ‘goons’,” suggested Red Robin.
She pouted. “But ‘goons’ sounds cuter.”
He opened his mouth to retort but she’d never know what he was going to say because, at that moment, Signal and Robin came busting in through the skylight.
~
Tim relaxed when he heard the glass shatter. Whether Marientte’s henchmen rallying had somehow worked or their backup had come, it at least meant that Joker and Punchline were distracted from wanting to murder them.
He struggled to crane his neck to see what was going on.
Oh. Damn. Damian was back from his angsting on the weird murder island? And he was here? Nevermind, he’d prefer Joker and Punchline. Damian was never going to let him live this down.
Speaking of Damian, a weight jumped onto their ropes and the three vigilantes became a pendulum. Tim grit his teeth tightly and Marinette let loose a long string of swears as their headaches worsened.
But, apparently, the world wasn’t done with them. Damian sliced the line at the highest point and they went flying across the room. Tim was the unlucky one on the bottom when they hit the ground, which he doubted was an accident.
Damian left them to deal with things on their own from there. Least he could have done was cut them free with his katana, but Tim supposed that was too much to wish for from the youngest brother.
He rested his head back against the cool floor for a second. He could feel Marinette stretch across his shoulder to do the same. They sighed in relief. This was the closest they had come to treating their headaches and wow was it nice.
But, frankly, resting in the middle of a fight isn’t a great idea. So, they wriggled around on the floor until he was able to flick open the tiny knife in the index finger of his gloves and cut the rope binding them without, y’know, cutting one of them instead.
Freedom! What did they do with this newfound freedom, you may ask? Scratch their heads. Turns out chloroform sucks for many reasons and one of those is that it’s a major skin irritant.
He also vomited. Thank god they’d been freed. He’d been only a few seconds away from throwing up on Marinette. He felt especially bad about that when she peeled a hand from her itching to hold his hair away from his face.
The fight was over soon enough. Duke and Damian came over to watch the two of them attempting to peel their skin off layer by layer.
“Pathetic,” chided Damian.
“Don’t be a dick --.” Marinette cut herself off, her hand flying to her mouth. “I swore in front of a baby.”
“I’m twelve!”
“Exactly: a baby.” She reached out and cupped a very affronted Damian’s face in her hands. “Look, you still have baby fat! You shouldn’t be fighting crime!”
Tim couldn’t tell if she was messing with Damian for being rude to them or if she genuinely saw him as a little kid. He wasn’t going to correct her. She’d remember he was a gremlin soon enough.
Damian wrenched his face from her grip. “If I hadn’t come you two would have been burned in acid.”
“Please, we all know Signal probably could have dealt with this entirely on his own,” Marinette waved him off.
Duke rested a hand over his heart like he was touched.
Tim rolled his eyes and pulled Marinette to him, resting his head on top of hers lazily. “We should get a checkup at the cave. Chloroform has
 not nice effects and we both rolled around in it a little while fighting.”
Duke and Damian both winced, but Marinette didn’t seem all that concerned.
“I’ll be fine. My immune system is enhanced by --.”
Duke clapped his hands by her ears as loudly as he could. Neither Marinette nor Tim were particularly happy about it.
“Behold: a headache, one of the main symptoms of chloroform. Your face also has some red streaks, so don’t even try to deny that the chloroform is affecting you.”
“I take back my praise, I’ve decided I hate you,” she murmured, massaging her temples.
“I just remembered that I need the siren on my bike on to tell all the other bats we’ll need them at the cave...”
“Wait, no --.”
~
Marinette glared at Black Bat and Spoiler. The batboys had left the infirmary area for her own comfort and that was nice of them but she would really prefer if she hadn’t had to come at all.
Now she sat in some of Black Bat’s pajamas and one of Spoiler’s spare masks as they inspected her.
Her nose scrunched as Black Bat drew blood from her arm.
“This is dumb. I don’t need this.”
“We’ve been told. Humor us?” Spoiler said and, though Marinette couldn’t see her face from where she was, she knew she was rolling her eyes.
“I would if you were actually funny.”
“I think we can definitely put her down for irritability,” commented Spoiler.
Black Bat nodded and dutifully wrote it down. Traitor.
The cool metal of a stethoscope was pressed to her back and she cringed.
“Deep breaths.”
Marinette complied, however reluctantly. Might as well get all this bullshit over with as soon as possible.

 she was regretting that decision, now, though.
She gave Batman a cold look. “You can’t keep me here.”
“You need to stay so we can monitor your state overnight. You could have asphyxiated.”
“But we didn’t,” complained Red Robin, who looked just as annoyed about this as she was.
“We have lives, B,” she said.
“You weren’t going to do anything other than patrols tonight, don’t act like I’m tearing you away from something important.”
“The protection of the city is important,” Red argued.
“Neither of you would be much help tonight in the state you’re in, anyways.”
Red Robin stuck his lower lip out in a pout. Marinette gave her best puppy-dog eyes.
Batman wasn’t moved. “If you need something, Agent A will provide it.”
She blinked, eyes returning to normal in her confusion. “Who --?”
He disappeared into the shadows before she could finish the conversation, something she was, unfortunately, getting used to.
Marinette scowled at where he had last been.
Maybe she should have expected this, maybe if she had been less out of it she would have. They had given her pajamas when she’d had clothes and insisted on cleaning her old ones ‘for chloroform’. The checkup might have been a genuine checkup on her state, but it probably wouldn’t have mattered what the results were. She was always going to end up staying the night in the cold, dingy cave filled with bats.
She sighed and laid back against the stone floors. She heard Red Robin groan and looked up to see he had been locked out of the Batcomputer for the night. He leaned back in his chair and mumbled curses.
She giggled at his distress and, despite himself, a tiny grin poked at his lips.
“Want to race to see who can hack into it first?” She suggested.
He raised an eyebrow at her under his domino. “Think you can win?”
“Considering I don’t know that much about hacking, I’m going to say probably not.”
A wide smile spread across his face, now, and he waved her over. She took a seat on the desk beside the keyboard and he started teaching her everything.
Most of what he said, while technically heard, wasn’t exactly understood. She couldn’t concentrate. It was the first time she had seen him in anything but his vigilante suit and she decided that that was a crime because he looked so cute in the Batman-themed pajamas. Furthermore, the way his long hair was pushed back by a headband to keep it out of the green paste spread over his face to alleviate the chloroform’s rash reminded her of a spa day in all those movies.
And then there was the smile. It made her heart flutter in her chest because she was so used to his grins but this was just a genuine smile. He looked so passionate about the intricacies of cyber crime. She was almost sad about the domino hiding his eyes because she wanted to see the way they lit up while he explained different ways viruses could be accidentally downloaded to devices.
Basically, she was a mess for this random cute guy she worked with. She had never seen him so casual and at ease and it felt far more intimate than it maybe should.
She rested her head on her hand, nodding along as he talked about data encryption versus decoding.
Well, maybe a forced sleepover in the Batcave wouldn’t be so bad...
~
Tim was suffering a lot more than he would ever admit, and only a small part of it was due to chloroform.
He was going to be having a sleepover with one of his idols and he was going to be spending a large amount of the time trying not to throw up. And she could totally tell, too, why else would she be watching him so intensely? Someone kill him, please. He was so glad he had a secret identity because he didn’t know how he would manage if she thought Tim Drake-Wayne was a loser.
Granted, she was going to think Red Robin was a loser... but at least he had a second chance as Tim.
He rested his chin on the back of his chair. He had hacked into the Batcomputer already but it was a relatively dull night out on patrols and he wasn’t eager to be yelled at for showing Marinette some files on top of already hacking into them when he wasn’t supposed to.
“Wanna do something?”
She grinned. “Is there anything to do here other than train?”
“... nothing approved.”
She tipped her head to the side. “And of the things that aren’t approved?”
He matched her grin. “Well
”
And that was how he ended up setting up a movie projector in the cave so they could watch Groundhog Day. Marinette had taken to making them a pillow fort.
Duke stumbled down the steps, half awake, and raised his eyebrows at them from behind his domino. He poured himself a cup of coffee from the pot that they had made and took a long sip before sending the two of them a wary look. “Do I want to know?”
Marinette didn’t look up from her and Tikki’s base construction. “Dunno. Do you want to watch Groundhog Day with us?”
He frowned. “Isn’t that the one where that guy in a time loop stalks his co-worker until he knows enough to make her fall in love with him?”
“Just say you don’t like romcoms and go,” Marinette irritably.
“I’m fine with romcoms, it’s just
 a little messed up that he uses the knowledge he gets from being in a time loop to ensure she falls for him?”
“It’s a story about self-improvement,” Tim said, sending his brother a glare. “He grows as a person until he is worthy of her love.”
“Him learning about her is part of his arc. He starts off selfish and he ends it with a deeper appreciation for other people,” agreed Marinette.
Duke held his free hand up in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. Enjoy your stalker movie.”
“It’s not a --,” Tim tried to argue, but Duke was already heading back upstairs.
He huffed a little and finished setting up the computer and projector, then took a seat in the pillow fort. She poured each of them a cup of coffee, put a straw in hers to maintain her identity, and then took a seat beside him.
He took it from her with a bright smile and turned on the movie.
She rested her head on his shoulder as the happy-go-lucky music started up.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t manage to stay awake for all that long. Duke had drugged the coffee pot.
~
Marinette shifted awake a while later and promptly decided that being awake sucked.
Nothing about her current situation sucked, of course. At some point during the night they had fallen asleep and now she was laying half on top of Red Robin, clinging to him like a koala. He didn’t seem all that upset about it, though, with his arm wrapped around her and his face buried in her hair.
Unfortunately, the time on the bottom right of the Batcomputer’s screen told her she didn’t have much time to enjoy it.
She started the slow process of extracting herself from him. Getting the arm off of herself was easy, getting his face away from her head was much harder (this wasn’t helped by the fact that the paste on his face had stuck to her hair).
There was one scare where she thought he was going to wake up. She pushed herself off of his chest and he took a long breath in. Marinette froze, watching his lips tighten
 and then he turned over in his sleep.
Oops, apparently she’d been suffocating him a little in her sleep. Sorry, Red.
Well, at least she was free now.
She slipped out of the pillow fort and glanced at the time again.
Even less time to do what she needed. Because that’s how time works.
She sighed and called Tikki over with a tiny wave of her hand, walking over the edge of the railing. She looked down at the abyss that stretched many feet below.
Tikki couldn’t have looked more disapproving if she tried.
“It’s just a little insurance,” Marinette signed.
This didn’t make Tikki any less upset with her, but she hadn’t really expected it to. She signed for her transformation. She tied herself to the railing with her yoyo as a precaution and then hooked her legs around the railing.
And down she went.
She flexed at an awkward angle, flashlight in her mouth, and stuck a tracker to the bottom of the platform.
And, really, she wasn’t intending on using it. Like she said, it was just insurance. They had drawn blood from her earlier and she knew for a fact that it wasn’t necessary for chloroform inhalation. The only reason that made sense for that was that they wanted to check and see if she had inhaled some but they already knew that so
 what did they want with her blood?
She was willing to bet it had something to do with her secret identity. And, hey, she didn’t particularly care if they knew her identity, she trusted them, but if it ever got out because of them revealing then who the bats were would be 1) revenge and 2) a good distraction.
“Hey --?”
Thank the kwamis she had tied herself to the railing because she’d been surprised enough to let go of the platform.
“Shit, sorry!” Said Red Robin.
She pulled herself back up onto the platform with his help and then collapsed on the cool stone. She spat the flashlight from her mouth. “Fuuuuuuck, don’t do that again, please.”
“Sorry,” he said again. Then he glanced back at where she had been and, momentarily, his lips pulled into a frown. “I gotta ask: what were you doing?”
“Hm?”
Shitshitshit.
“Oh, I wanted to see if there was anything down there or if it was just for The Aesthetic.”
“Why not just use your yoyo to go down?”
She shuddered. “The flashlight barely did anything. Would you want to go down into that darkness with no clue even how far down it goes?”
He seemed to accept the answer. “It’s an old iron mine. No one uses it anymore, though.”
She nodded her understanding.
She pushed herself back up to a sitting position and looked at him.
“The bats don’t get back for a while and we’re still on lockdown, so
 want to do something?”
~
Damian was the first one to get home. Apparently he had broken a leg on patrol. This was fine (well, maybe he shouldn’t have been driving himself, but whatever).
What was not fine was that he had promptly decided to be an asshole.
Tim and Marinette had been playing Minecraft on the Batcomputer and, like all younger brothers, Damian asked to play.
And, like all older brothers, Tim barely looked up from his controller to tell him: “No.”
Damian looked to be on the verge of a meltdown.
Marinette sighed and sent Tim a tired look. “Red, don’t be mean. He’s just a kid. There’s more controllers, we can just give him one.”
“But
” He started. Damian was a terrible partner to play Minecraft with because he never helped out with anything except for the farm.
However, Marinette was looking at him expectantly. Tim bit his lip, considering.
Damian looked between the two of them and a wicked grin spread across his face and oh no.
Damian took a seat next to Marinette and gave her puppy-dog eyes (a real feat, considering the fact that he was wearing a domino and therefore his eyes were invisible). “Miss Ladybug, can’t you please make him let me play?”
Marinette gave Tim a tired look. “Red, c’mon, just for a bit.”
Damian smirked a little but, by the time Marinette turned back around, he had schooled his face back into a pout.
She handed him her controller. “You can have mine. I’ll find another for myself.”
The two watched her leave and Tim sent his younger brother a glare. “I can’t believe you would embarrass yourself this much just to play a game.”
“Anything to annoy you, ‘big bro’.”
He opened his mouth to retort, but then Marinette came back and all he could do was send him a glare behind her back.
Damian retaliated by sitting himself on Marinette’s lap. She looked down, amusement making her eyes crinkle, but otherwise didn’t acknowledge it. Damian smirked and stuck his tongue out at Tim.
That little shit.
And it continued on for hours while the three of them waited for the rest of the bats to come back. Damian would cling to Marinette in some way and he would become the bad guy for glaring at a child. He was seriously considering breaking the No Killing Rule for this kid.
Finally, though, people started coming back and apparently Damian thought it too embarrassing to do such a thing in front of more than just the person he was trying to annoy because he clambered off her lap to play just a little bit away.
Bruce was the last one to come in and he looked at his kids with the patented Batdad Glare because they had managed to drag Steph into playing with them (without much effort) and Cass into watching (with much more effort). Which meant that there were currently five family disappointments. Yay them.
Tim smiled innocently. “What? We got bored. Maybe you should let us out so this doesn’t happen again.”
“I’m keeping you here for your own safety.”
Marinette and Tim both groaned.
“I have work to do.”
“Me, too.”
Bruce didn’t relent because he was a stubborn asshole.
But that was fine. They really hadn’t expected them to. Tim glanced at Marinette and she twirled her index finger against her flat palm, the sign for ‘start’.
One flash and smoke bomb later, the two of them were running as fast as they could to his bike. He grinned as he helped his giggling friend get on and hopped up himself. Arms wrapped around him tightly and her face buried in his back. They tore out of the cave, giggling all the while.

So....
I am looking back on past posts of stories that I plan on writing. I thought I tagged them all... but I don’t know if I got them all.
Here’s what I have so far... (Keep in mind, the majority of them are from story prompts from other people or were from asks.)
Bruce Wayne Addams
Cousin Bruce.
Gomez and Morticia love their adopted nephews very much.
Dick is going insane.
I don’t remember if this is a crossover with Miraculous Ladybug. Let alone with my au, She’s an Addams!
She’s an Addams!
Marinette’s mother is Wednesday Addams.
Jagged Stone is an Addams.
Debating if she’ll be with Nino or Canon!Felix.
I don’t remember if this is a crossover with Batman. As I remember a scene where Jagged and knew each other back in college due to them being in a band together... now that I think about it... I think that was part of another story...
Quirk: Miraculous Ladybug
Marinette Dupain-Cheng: Thread Manipulation/Miraculous Ladybug
Adrien Agreste: Formerly Quirkless/Cataclysm
Alya CĂ©saire (class deputy): Computer Interaction
Nino Lahiffe: Frequency manipulation.
Chloé Bourgeois: Paralysis Inducement
Sabrina Raincomprix: Invisibility
Rose Lavillant: Plant Manipulation
Nathaniel Kurtzberg: Digital Art Manipulation
Juleka Couffaine: Identity Manipulation
LĂȘ Chiáșżn Kim: Emotion Weaponry
MylĂšne HaprĂšle: Slime Manipulation
Max Kanté: Technological Combat
Alix Kubdel: Flash Forward
Ivan Bruel: Earth Transformation
Lila Rossi: Feign Damage
Aurore Beauréal: Weather Manipulation
Mireille Caquet: Omnilingualism
Jean Duparc: Miming
Luka Couffaine: Sound Manipulation
Marc Anciel: Ink Manipulation
Kagami Tsurugi: Elemental Manipulation.
For this au, it could be as is, or as a penpal au with Marinette being friends from someone from UA. Izuku, Shoto, Hitoshi or someone else.
Justice League Banned from Paris @vivilakitty
JL finding out they got banned from Paris.
Someone visits for the holiday or some shit that brings them there related to the League.
They see the akumas and they wonder why no one called the league for help. Especially after seeing two kids fighting the Akuams.
"The hero's tried. They were just children when shit started. My kid is thirteen and is the size and age of our hero's were when they started! We tried getting ahold of the League. The Mayor, the heroes, civilians! Everyone! We got called a joke and were told never to contact them again. Then we got blocked."
Mayor decided to bane the League from Paris. If they did not want to help, then they are no longer welcomed in the city of Paris.
The call first got through to some random civilian communicator that goes along with the name of John Christan Ryan Mark Johnson, nickname
 whatever the hell first comes up in someone’s mind. When League found out, Chad became a joke among the league and got demoted. Even so, the League went to Paris as civilians and did their best to help out.
There will be mayhem from the Batboys.
Turtle Bug @jacquesthepigeon
Where Fu chose not to put the cat miraculous in play and instead gave his own since Ladybug’s partner would need to protect her. He chooses Nino to be Carapace.
Paris’s anxiety ridden superhero duo is Ladybug and Carapace.
ONE MORE THING! @vixen-uchiha
Jackie Chan adventures. Jackie and Sabine are cousins. Jackie decided to take a much needed break from doing what he does best. He and Jade go to Paris to have a simple... fight free... vaca.... great... seems like their vacation is short lived.
What’s the Stitch? @kanamexzeroyaoifangirl
Kim Possible/Miraculous Ladybug crossover where Marinette and Kim are cousins though Gina. Lila lies about knowing and going on side missions with her when Marinette’s the one going on missions with her when she’s in town or visiting. Class minus Chole, Nathaniel, & Kitty Section believe and bully Marinette due to Lila’s lies. Kim shows up during it one Tommie then uses her connections to show the truth and take her down. All bullies are sued and are banned from the bakery.
Presentation Day @art-deco-shrimp
Ms Bustier assigns each of the students to do a report on someone they know, with a presentation at the end. They need to pick someone to report on, learn about their daily life, interview at least three people close to them, and then do a presentation on that person when the project is due in two weeks (arbitrary time limit is arbitrary). When Alya comments that it’s too bad that the restrictions mean a report on Ladybug is probably out of the question, Marinette suggests Ladybug’s best friend as a substitute. Alya can interview Lila’s parents as one source, Rose can probably connect her for a short Q&A with Prince Ali about someone who’s done so much for his charities, and Alya can even justify asking Ladybug some questions for the project this way!
The Delinquent  @rubixchick
Lila assumed the older guy Marinette has been hanging out with lately, is just some delinquent due to the guy’s tattoo’s, pericings and ripped up clothes. Spinning her tales, Lila made it difficult for Marinette to hang out with this guy or trying to occupy her time by smothering her to no end. Things go bad to worse
 for Lila when she accused Juleka’s brother, whom she never met before, being the delinquent.
Hear Me Out
Story idea from: @maxdark158  Full prompt here: https://maxdark158.tumblr.com/post/187476540811/hear-me-out-ive-got-an-au-idea
Best Friends Adrien and Marinette. No love interest or love square here.
Marinette paired with either Damian, Tim, Jason, Dick, or someone from Dc.
Adrien, I don’t know if I want to pair him up with someone or if I do want to pair up him with someone, I don’t know with whom yet.
Adrien is protective of his best friend.
Lila Salt.
Alya Salt.
Passive (Agreste)sive.
Marinette Mode @vivilakitty: Full prompt here: https://vivilakitty.tumblr.com/post/189567415622
Marinette takes on an apprentice ship under the one and only Edna Mode.
I know her, I’m close friends with her son~  @countingdowndays: Full prompt here: https://countingdowndays.tumblr.com/post/189602949856/prompt-lila-salt-adriens-mom
Adrien mentions the movie his mom stared in to the class. Lila latched onto it, claiming she personally knew the actress and that she could introduce Adrien to her. “Great, let me know what my mom says.”
OHSHC x My Hero Academia: My Hero Host Club @amynchan
Ships: IzoOcha, BakuKiri, TodoMomo, TetsuKendo, OjiTooru, TokoTsuyu, JiroTama
Summary: Create a club they say. Create something to do in their spare time, they say. Do something creative, they say.
“WHY DID YOU FORCE ME TO JOIN A HOST CLUB!!!”
“In all honesty, you destroyed an expensive vase and you need to pay us back. And joining us, you could easily pay it back
 unless you want to pay it out of pocket.”
Kyoka Jiro gripped her hair in frustration. Her parents had told her she needed to create or join a club. Her classmate had told her about the club she had created with her friends
 but said friend never mentioned it’s a host club!
Record: Drag Her. @miraculouscontent
Tikki Records Lila's threats
Tikki records Lila's threat towards Marinette with the latter's phone. "Oh, and Marientte? Drag her."
My girlfriend could kick your butt!
Peter Parker got kidnapped and cannot use his abilities without exposing his identity to the whole wide web.
There he is, strapped to a chair with a camera facing and recording his every movement.
Then the bad guys started to threaten Peter that if he doesn’t talk, that they’ll use Peter’s girlfriend as leverage.
“My girlfriend could kick your butt!!!!”
Not even a minute later, the video fed went out and when it went back on, all the bad guys are knocked out and an unfamiliar girl is untying Peter from the chair, all the while apologizing for taking too long to get to him.
This is a debate on which one to write for Dragon Age Inquisition.
Warden Cullen
HoF!Cullen
Champion!Cullen
Inquisitor!Cullen
It will take place in DAI. Pairing are yet to be seen.
If I miss a story prompt, please tell me. I have lost count or I cannot find the posts.

🐞🩇🐞
Daminette December 2022: 29-Shimmer
Damian sighed as he looked out onto the Seine. He never wanted to come to Paris. His father and Drake had forced him on a plane to work on some counter-productive scheme at a Wayne Enterprise site in France.
Damian tensed up when he noticed a girl next to him on the bridge.
‘When did she get here? I never heard her, let alone sensed her presence. I was trained to noticed the subtlest of movements. How did she get past me?’
Damian looked over the girl. She was wearing bright colors, something he should have noticed right away. Her hair was tied back, making her face visible. It was her eyes that got his attention. They were a dull blue, but that wasn’t the biggest thing he noticed. He recognized those eyes. They were emotionless. He had grown up surrounded by those eyes in the League. Damian had also seen those eyes on the streets of Gotham.
He slowly reached out and touched her shoulder. Instantly, tears were brought to her eyes.
“I’m not going to hurt you.” he spoke, softly.
The girl turned and he noticed bruising on her cheekbone and the makings of a black eye. She looked liked an angel.
“Are you okay?” Damian asked.
The girl shook her head. He slowly moved his hand from her shoulder to hers Damian pried her hands from the bridge rail and guided her to the nearest bench.
“What is going on?” he questioned, ready to call the authorities at a moments notice, “A fresh perspective can help.”
“I being bullied by just about eveyone in my class. All of my friends believe this liar that joined a couple months ago.” She began, “The one person who knows she’s lying, lets bully me because 'No one is getting hurt’.”
'The bruising on her suggests otherwise.’
He could see the heaviness in her eyes. The bullying was taking it’s toll on her. If her grip was anything to go by, it was close to the breaking point.
“How long has this been going on?” he questioned.
“Since last year.” she whispered.
Damian couldn’t believe it had been that long with no intervention, “What about the staff?”
She shook her head, “My teacher expects me to an example to the class. The principal isn’t any better. He believes anyone with more money.”
Damian growled, “What school?”
“Francois Dupont College.” she answered.
“It will get better; I promise you, Angel.” he stated.
Marinette just looked away.
'She’s likely heard those words before.’
“Let me walk you home.” Damian suggested.
Tom and Sabine were shocked to see Marinette in tears, with a stranger leading her through the door. The purple on her cheek and eye stood out against her pale skin.
“Marinette!” Sabine shouted, “Is everything okay?”
Marinette just walked passed her parents and through the door leading upstairs. Concerned, they turned to the boy who had brought her home.
“Please, keep a heavy watch on her.” he insisted, “I fear had I not been there, she would have jumped into the Seine.”
“Why?” Tom questioned.
“When was the last time you her friends were over?” Damian asked.
“We saw them just the other day.” Sabine frowned.
“Not in the store.” Damian pressed, “In your own home. When was the last time you saw them with your daughter? When was the last time she told you she was going out with her friends with a smile on her face?”
Her parents looked confused.
He sighed, “She is being bullied and I want to help.”
“She would have told us.” Sabine insisted.
“It’s very likely she did, but you brushed it off as a small argument or normal behavior for our age.” he explained, “Who is her teacher?”
“Caline Buster.” her father answered,.
Damian bowed and left the bakery without another word. Tom and Sabine looked at each other confused, but quickly shut down the bakery for the rest of the day. A stranger had thought their daughter would harm herself and the bruising on her face told them something wasn’t right. They rushed upstairs to see Marinette laying motionless in bed. Maybe that stranger had a right to worry.
Marinette sat in the back of the classroom with a hoodie covering her head. Makeup hadn’t really covered the purple on her face and she didn’t want to be called out for wanting attention on herself, again. Damian strutted into class and rapidly spotted his angel. Everyone looked at the mysterious stranger in the class.
“Um, excuse me.” Caline smiled, “How can I help you?”
Damian glared at her and walked up to Marinette. He placed his hand over hers and pulled her to her feet.
“Come along, Angel.” Damian spoke, “We have things to do today.”
Marinette looked at the stranger from the other day, stunned.
'Why is he here? What does he mean that we have things to do?’
“School?” she questioned, not really knowing what else to say.
“Not today.” He answered, “Your parents granted me permission to rescue you.”
Marinette gathered her things and followed him without a second thought.
“Her parents will be reaching out, shortly.” Damian explained and puleld Mari out of the room.
Marinette couldn’t believe the day she was having. Her parents had called her and told her that they wanted her to enjoy herself today. They didn’t give an explanation on why she was allowed to miss school or why they trust the guy she had only met the other day. She couldn’t complain, though. Damian had introduced himself and taken her out for ice cream cones. As they ate, he explained that the next thing they were doing was going to an art supply store he found the other day.
She had gathered a couple sketchbooks and colored pencils that she needed for her next project. Damian had paid for her purchase which she had refused. He got her hand and led her to the next spot. Marinette looked at the high end fabric store.
“I think we’re at the wrong store.” Marinette spoke.
“We’re not.” he smirked, “Your parents stated this was a place you have been wanting to visit.”
“Ye-Yes, but it’s not within my budget.” she stated.
“That’s why I’m paying.” Damian announced.
Marinette turned to him in shock.
“I expect you to choose at least five different fabrics. Take as long as you need. Use your new sketchbooks and pencils if you have too.” He explained, “If you don’t walk out with five rolls, I will be buying you the entire store. In case your wondering, I do have that kind of money.”
Marinette gulped and walked into the store. At that moment she recalled one of her favorite Disney movies: Beauty and the Beast.
'This must be how Belle felt when the Beast showed her library and told her she could read anything.’
Marinette looked around the bolts of fabric and pulled out a sketchbook. She sat on the floor in front of a wine fabric. Damian watched as she focused on the fabric and let her hand fly on the pages. Suddenly, he realized she was smiling. It shone so bright.
'How much damage was done to you to make you think the world was a better place without it?’
Damian and Marinette entered the bakery with seven bolts of fabric. He unloaded them from his car and happily carried them up to her room.
“Marinette, we have some news for you.” Tom began.
Sabine smiled, “We have taken you out of school, permanently. We wanted to know if you would prefer to be homeschooled, instead?”
Marinette quickly hugged her parents. They could all tell she was happy with the news.
Damian smiled at the family infront of him. Unbeknownst to them, he had done background checks into the principal, her teacher, and unearthed the liar known as Lila Rossi. He had sent everything to the school board. They had informed him that the two staff member were terminated during school hours and wouldn’t be allowed back on campus. They would also be writing a lengthy detailed report so they were not rehired. As for Lila Rossi, she had been suspended for a week and given detention for the rest of the year.
The next day, he heard from Tom and Sabine that the class tried to talk to Marinette. They had refused to let them even see her. They complained that the Italian exchange student had been berated in front of the class by her own mother. She had filled in the substitute teacher about her daughter’s wrongdoings and left her personal number with her.
“Marinette wants nothing to do with you.” Sabine chastised them.
“But-” Adrien tried to explain.
“You’re lucky we don’t know who beat her until she had a black eye or we would be going to your homes and filling your parents in on your own behavior.” Tom declared.
“You may enter the bakery and purchase something” Sabine stated, “but, you are no longer welcomed into our home. You hurt our daughter and you were bad friends. It’s no wonder she chose to be homeschooled than return to school with you.”
The class flinched and dragged themselves out of the bakery.
Marinette jumped up when she saw Damian enter the living room. She rushed over and kissed his cheek.
“Hello, Angel.” Damian spoke, kissing her cheek in return.
“You may call me an angel, but you’re mine.” Marinette smiled.
“I have been told I am a demon.” he stated.
“Then, I’ll gladly make a deal with you.” Mari replied.
Damian smiled.
'Perhaps, Paris isn’t so bad after all.’

Daminette December 2022: 16-Chaos
Alya smiled and fixed Adrien’s hair.
“There she is, just like I told you she would be.” she smiled.
“Are you sure, Alya?” Adrien asked, nervously, “She looks busy.”
Adrien looked back into the park and saw Marinette sketching by a picnic basket.
“Look, the date is all planned out.” Alya spoke, “She has a picnic basket and is just waiting for you. I’m sure she brought things you are allowed to eat. You don’t want to keep her waiting, right?”
“R-Right.” he answered, unsure of himself.
Adrien took a deep breath and made his way into the park.
Marinette smiled as she sketched out a new dress.
‘I can’t wait for him to get here. I’m sure he’ll like the surprise.’
Marinette watched as a shadow began to lengthen on her sketchbook.
“Hey.” she spoke, but as she turned, a flash of yellow was all she saw.
Marinette turned quickly, panicked, and reached into her purse. She quickly used sprayed the pepper spray Damian had given her. At the sound of a scream, Marinette took off and ran past the trees. She quickly pulled out her phone and called the police.
“Help! Someone approached me in the park. I had to use pepper spray.” Marinette explained, rapidly.
“How old are you?” they asked.
“Seventeen.” she sniffled.
The dispatch could hear how panicked she was and said, “We’re sending someone to you.”
Marinette quickly texted Damian.
Angel: Hurry, plz!!!!
People passing by came up to her and asked her if she was okay.
“Are you okay, Sweetie?”
“Do I need to call anyone for you?”
“You were very brave.”
“You were on the phone. Did you call your mom or dad?”
“Did you call the police?”
Marinette nodded. When they realized she wasn’t in complete control of her breathing, one lady helped steady her and lowed her to the floor. Alya quickly rushed over and grabbed her by her shoulders.
“What the hell were you thinking, Marinette?” she shouted, “Do you even realize what you have done? Who you have hurt?”
Marinette didn’t get a chance to answer. The strangers were quick to shove Alya away. They didn’t let her get close to Mari again. One was trying to help her regulate her breathing. The rest had formed a barrier Marinette having a panic attack and the new girl on the scene yelling at her.

Daminette December 2022: 18-Alien
Jon came up with a great idea; He was going to shop in Gotham for the holidays. Metropolis was too busy and he’d likely run into his parents. Besides, he needed a gift for Damian. Damian wouldn’t suspect him of being in Gotham and he probably wouldn’t run into him. His best friend wasn’t a fan of the holiday traffic and preffered shopping online. He very much doubted that Damian would be walking aound Gotham and would catch him in he act. He would just swing by the manor and surprise him with his gift later.
Jon quickly descended into an empty alleyway. Jon walked out and began to search shop after shop for something for his best friend. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something that made him stop in his tracks. Jon turned and saw someone standing in front of a shop, dressed in a pink jacket. She had bright blue eyes and her hair was in pigtails. She looked so much like a real life doll.
‘What is she doing in Gotham? Doesn’t she know where she is? She’s gonna get kidnapped!’
Jon quickly walked over in her direction.
“Are you okay?” he smiled, hoping to gain her attention.
The bright blue eyes that had drawn him in, turned dark. He never thought she would glare at him.
“I’m fine.” she declared, “I’m waiting for my boyfriend.”
'An accent? She must be a foreigner. She might be walking into a trap!’
“Do you mind if I wait with you?” Jon questioned.
He watched the girl take a step back and press her back to the store wall. She quickly looked down the street.
'Oh god, she thinks I’m a kidnapper!’
Jon shook his hands in front of her and took a step back.
“I’m not trying to hurt you or anything!” he cried out, “You stand out! I just wanted to make sure your boyfriend got you safetly!”
'She’s so cute. It’s a shame she already has a boyfriend.’
Jon saw her eyes light up, like a kid on Christmas. Jon turned to see who or what had made her look like that. He never expected to see Damian.
“Damian!” she cried, before rushing and hugging him.
'Damian has a girlfriend?’
“Jon?” Damian called out.
“Oh.” the girl spoke, “You know him?”
Damian looked from Jon to Marinette and glared, “How do you?”
“He said I stood out.” she sighed, “Said he wanted to make sure I was okay.”
“Habibiti has trust issues.” Damian voiced, before turning to her, “And I believe I expressed my concerns of your wardrobe choices.”
“You’re dating?” Jon spoke, interrupting what looked like would become a lover’s spat.
“Is that a problem.” the Wayne heir growled.
“N-No!” Jon exclaimed, “Just, uh, um surprised.”
Marinette looked between them and returned to glaring at Jon.
“How well do you know him?” Mari questioned.
“Enough.” Damian quipped.
“We’re friends.” Jon sighed.
“So you have stated over the last seven years.” Damian announced.
Marinette turned to her boyfriend. He looked at her with concern.
“So
.trustworthy?” she asked.
“Yes.” he nodded.
Marinete turned and smiled brightly at Jon.
“Then, thank you.” Marinette said, “Sorry for assuming badly of you.”
'Holy shit! She has a cute smile!’
Jon could feel his face turning red as she continued to smile. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed his best friend glaring at him and reaching into his back pocket.
“Um, I’ll swing by your place later with my gift.” Jon announced, “Just dropping it off and heading home.”
Damian nodded, grabbed his girlfriend’s bag, her hand and led them away to his car.

Daminette December 2022: 17-Outline
Damian observed their toddler chase Alfred the II around their home, in Paris. Alfred the II jumped on the small artificial tree, knocking it over. Marinette quickly rushed out of the kitchen at the sound of broken ornaments. Damian picked up Malik and handed him to Marinette.
“Place him in the pen and I will take care of the ornaments.” Damian stated.
Marinette frowned at the small tree, but got an idea. She picked up the tree and took it out of sight. She got some of her large paper, for designs, and cut a giant piece off. She quickly dress the outline of a cartoonish tree. With a smile, she taped it to the wall. She took one of her son’s markers and drew a star on the top of the tree.
“Malik, can you help Mommy?” Marinette asked.
Malik looked at him mother. Marinette handed him the crayons.
“Would you like to draw ornaments on our new tree for Santa?” she smiled.
Malik dumped out the crayons and started coloring the tree that now hung on the wall.
“What about the tree?” Damian leaned in and questioned.
“I put it in our room for now.” Marinette answered, “We can bring it out later when he’s asleep, that night. We can say Santa turned his tree into a real one.”
Damian kissed his wife’s cheek.
“Why don’t you finish making the cookies and I’ll let your parents know we will be there in two hours.” Damian suggested, “I’ll keep and eye on Malik and his artistic flair.”

Daminette December 2022: 15-Side Effects Ch.11
FIRST / PREVIOUS
Tom and Sabine were so proud of their daughter and her mate. They were so excited about being grandparents that they placed pictures of the family in the bakery. Adrien had been completely unprepared to see the pictures.
Alya had told them, excitedly, about Marinette becoming pupped, but he never thought it was true. He thought it had been a tactic for keeping her away from him. Alya had told them both about moving her schedule around. Honestly, he thought they had switched schools. Even Damian hadn’t been on campus.
Adrien staggered into his home, still reeling from the fact it hadn’t been a lie.
“Adrien, what is it?” Natalie questioned.
“Father told me stay away from Marinette when she became a Beta.” he began.
“I remember.” Natalie declared, “There was also a rumor of her being mated months later.”
“Damian Wayne, another Alpha, mated her.” Adrien spoke, “I thought Alya had been lying or was helping them keep us apart but it wasn’t.”
“What wasn’t a lie?” she asked.
“Marinette has pups with that Alpha.” Adrien spoke, shocking Natalie, “There’s pictures in the bakery.”
Nathalie quickly turned and told Gabriel. Quickly, Gabriel was on his feet and leading Adrien to the car.
“Where are we going?” Adrien questioned.
“To the Waynes.” he growled, “Obviously, they don’t know better.”
The moment Alfred opened the door, Gabriel barged his way inside. Adrien quickly apologized for his father’s attitude and chased after him. Alfred smiled, as he closed the door. The Agreste has entered the wrong house.
Gabriel was quick to enter the living space and instantly started smelling the scent of an Omega, rolling off in waves. He looked around the room and saw Marinette holding not one but two pups.
‘Adrien wasn’t lying.’
He growled in distaste. Damian was quick to pull a blade and growl back. Adrien took a step back, in shock. He had never seen anyone, let alone his age, stand up and challenge his father.
“Why are you here?” Bruce demanded, stepping near his son.
“I had to see the abominations for myself.” Gabriel declared.
Damian was instantly in front of him, with a blade to his throat.
“Call my pups that again and the next move I make will be ending your pitiful existence.” Damian roared.
Bruce sighed as Gabriel stood still.
“Damian, stay near your mate and pups. Marinette is still healing and needs you near her, at all times.” Bruce spoke.
Damian pressed the blade to Gabriel’s throat, just enough to nick him and walked back to Marinette’s side.
“Mr. Agreste, you weren’t invited and as you can see, unwanted.” Bruce declared.
“The law-” Gabriel began to shout.
“Ah, yes.” Bruce spoke, “The law we only learned about after Marinette gave birth. I don’t see how this concerns you. It’s not your son that is mated to my daughter-in-law.”
“What do you mean 'only learned about’?” Gabriel questioned.
“We learned that 'your law’ is more of a European law. Neither my family, my son’s mother’s family not her parents have taught them any such law. I never learned the 'law’, as you call it, because my parents were murdered when I was a child. No one told me anything. Perhaps, people thought I knew it or they never cared about it in the first place. I have no problem with it. My son is happy; Marinette has been good for him. As you can tell, Damian is violent and has been since he was a child.”
“You should have beat it out of him.” Gabriel sneered. “My mother and Grandfather raised me. Mother never told Father about me and Grandfather demanded the perfect Alpha.” Damian explained.
Bruce chuckled, “This is Damian tame. He was worse as a child. He would have killed your without a thought, let alone say anything to you. Consider what just happened a warning. When I spoke to my son, after the mating, it was the calmest I have ever seen him.”
Adrien looked between Marinette and the two pups in her arms. It was still shocking to smell Omega wafting off of her. He could see how happy she was, looking up at her overprotective mate. Damian Wayne also looked at them with a fond look.
“How did you curb the violence?” the fashion designer questioned.
“Damian was trained with kill or be killed ingrained into him.” Bruce explained, “I had to teach him restraint. I don’t tolerate murder and he knows that. The rule has been no murder as long as he lives under my roof. Though, I fear that won’t last long. He has his mate and pups now. He no longer has to listen to me. He will choose where to live, either here or elsewhere. If he choose the manor. The rule stands. I know full well, should anything happen to the pups, the rule will be broken. Although, I don’t know who will be the first to break it.”
“Marinette would never-” Adrien began to shout.
“Omegas die everyday for their pups to live.” Bruce stated, “Who is to say she wouldn’t sacrifice another for her pups. We still don’t fully understand what has changed for her with her new status. She is still experiencing new things daily that she never knew before.” “Why are you here in the first place?” Damian questioned, “You have no reason to be concerned. My mate agreed to my order of never being around you again. That extended to your father as well.”
“I beg your pardon?” Gabriel inquired.
“My first order to my mate was to never get near Agreste. When I stated that, I meant the whole family.” he explained, “Do you have a problem with my choice, Habibiti?”
“No, Alpha; I don’t. I know you are protecting us.” Marinette smiled, “Adrien showed me we weren’t friends when I presented to a Beta. Being an Omega now changes nothing. I already told our mutual friends to keep us seperated when we go out. I told them that we might possibly be able to do a group outting, but only if you were there.”
“That would be acceptable, as long as we can take the pups.” Damian answered.
Marinette chirped in appreciation and nuzzled her head against him. Gabriel watched as the girl he told his son to stay away from acted like a natural born Omega. He glanced his son’s way and saw the pain in his eyes. Adrien had tried to fight him about staying away from her. He hadn’t even wanted to hear about her becoming a pack mate and it seemed it costed his son greatly.

Daminette December 2022: 15-Side Effects Ch.10
FIRST /  PREVIOUS
Marinette panted as she rested in the hospital bed. Their pups had just been born, yet she felt like her body was still in overdrive.
“Marinette?” Damian questioned in concern.
“I-I think something is wrong.” she spoke, “Too hot. Pain.”
Damian quickly rushed over to her side and sniffed her mark. He couldn’t smell illnesses or the faint scent of death.
‘Not dying, but in pain. Is this because of our pups?’
“Father, get someone now!” he demanded.
Bruce quickly rushed out as Marinette began to pant more rapidly. Just as an older nurse walked in, the air became hot and tense. The smell of the twin’s afterbirth was fading rapidly. Marinette gripped the bedrails, as her parents held the pups. Damian was busy nuzzling her, trying to keep her calm and reassure her she was safe. Suddenly, her scent changed to that of an Omega. Damian quickly pulled away from her and stared at her in shock. Marinette’s panting and grip began to lessen, until she rested flat against the bed.
The nurse smiled, “It’s been some time since a shifting has occurred.”
“Shifting?” Sabine questioned.
“Why did my mate change from a Beta to an Omega?” Damian demanded to know.
“A long time ago, Alphas use to have free reign on who they mated, even Betas.” the nurse began to explain, “ If Betas were close enough to their Alphas, after birth, they would become an Omega. They would become beter suited to raising their pups. Many frowned upon it and so a law was created.”
“Wait.” Mari spoke, “So even the wolves, themselves, would choose Betas over Omegas?”
“Yes.” the nurse answered.
“What law?” Tom asked, handing Damian and Marinette their pups back.
Bruce frowned, “I don’t know about any laws.”
“Not all places abided by the law, but in Europe we still do.” she continued.
“What happened?” Damian pushed, “Why was the law created in the first place?”
“Some Alphas became crazed with the idea of creating new Omegas or 'Perfections’. They were called that because they were perfectly suited for their mates in every way.” she answered, making the couple smile at each other, “The only problem was that not all Betas would change. Alphas started sleeping with every Beta they could find. They would keep them in their pack, but after birth, if they didin’t change, they would turn their backs on them. They Beta’s child was considered a Bastard, since the Alpha refused to mat until they changed. Then, they would go back to sleeping around.”
“That must have caused some long lineages.” Bruce inquired.
“Yes.” the nurse sighed, “Sometimes the pups were sent elsewhere to be raised, instead of staying in the pack. They were watched carefully for interbreeding. Other times, the Alphas killed their child, blaming them for the Betas not changing.”
Marinette hugged her pups tightly and growled.
“Habibiti, I will do no such thing.” Damian spoke, slowly, “These are our pups and no harm shall come to them.”
“Another reason for the law was other Omegas.” she continued to explain, “Omegas, themselves, started getting upset and pushed around the Betas in their packs. Some even went as far as killing the Betas, pupped or not, for getting close to the Alpha. A law was created and Alphas were told never to touch a Beta again. Some alphas agreed. Some didn’t.”
“I’ve never heard of such a law.” Bruce stated.
“It was made long before you were born. I was told about the law when I was a child from an older sibling.” she answered, “Parents usually told their child at a certain age or after presenting.”
“I lost my parents as a child.” Bruce spoke, “My guardian never told me any of this.”
“My mom is always traveling and I wasn’t on speaking terms with my pops for a long time, but he is very traditional.” Tom declared, “He never told me, either.”
Sabine shrugged, “It’s still common in Shanghai to mate, regardless of status. It was a bit of a shock when I came here and was told it was forbidden.”
“Grandfather is very traditional, as well. My lineage on my mother’s side contains many cultures and traditions. Surely, Grandfather would have told me about status as a child. He always assumed I would become an Alpha. He trained me to lead and be an Alpha.” Damian spoke, before turning to his mate, “Me choosing to disobey my wolf, me choosing her over an Omega, choosing someone I cared about, turned her into an Omega?”
“Yes.” The elder nurse smiled.
Marinette smiled at Damian, “Thank you for giving me a chance and for strengthening me so I can protect our pups.”
Damian leaned down and kissed her, “I would do it again.”

Daminette December 2022: 15-Side Effect Ch.8
FIRST / PREVIOUS
It came as a big shock to the people in class when Marinette walked into class with a mate bite on her neck and her last name changed to Wayne. Whispers were quick to make their way through the school. When Adrien heard the rumor, he quickly went to find Marinette.
‘Marinette wouldn’t do something like that. Father did tell me to stay away from her. Damn, I should have kept a close eye on her, at least.’
The moment he found her, he could smell another scent mixed with hers.
'She didn’t!’
He grabbed her wrist and turned her to look at him.
“Adrien?” Mari questioned, looking confused.
“What did you do?” He growled out.
'She couldn’t have done this to get back at me, right? I thought she saw me as her leader, her Alpha, and now, she turned her back on me!’
“I didn’t do anything.” Marinette hissed back, “I talked to my Alpha, like I talked to you or anyone else in class.”
'Her Alpha?’
“Did you go near him during his rut?” Adrien asked, squeezing her wrist a bit tighter.
“I don’t know when he has it; he came to me!” Marinette answered, “We just started talking three months ago.”
'She has to be lying! No Alpha in their right mind would mate a Beta; Father told me himself! ’
Damian looked around for his mate. They had made plans to meet up during the break. Once he spotted her, he did not like what he was seeing. Another Alpha was holding onto and growling at his mate.
'If I recall, he is the one who tossed her away. Regret, perhaps?’
Damian was quick to grab the blonde by the throat and shove him away from Marinette. Adrien turned to see who had shoved him and saw Damian Wayne.
“Leave my mate alone.” the Wayne heir growled.
“Why her?” Adrien questioned, in disbelief.
“Why not?” Damian retorted, “I see someone who cares for me, respected my status and kept her distance. Marinette never forced herself on me. She even cares for my wolf. I do not see why you are so concerned, you have never been her Alpha. I asked her and no one had ever asked her to be in their pack. She bore no mark.”
Adrien gulped. He hadn’t yet formed his own pack, yet, but he thought Marinette understood she was his. It was always him, Nino, Marinette, and Alya. They were a group.
“Bu-But your wolf.” Adrien stammered, trying to come to an understanding.
“We came to an agreement.” Damian stated, pulling Marinette against him, “Habibiti, I have my first order as your Alpha and your pack leader.”
Marinette gave her mate her full attention, “Yes, Alpha?”
“Never go near the Agreste.” he demanded.
“Yes, Alpha.” Marinette answered.
Damian was quick to take her away after having her word. Adrien wasn’t sure what to make of everything, only that he could no longer be friends with Marinette.
'Is this because I listened to Father?’

True to her word, Marinette avoided Adrien, at all costs. She even sent a text to Alya saying she wasn’t allowed near Adrien and to not invite him anywhere if they planned for her to go.
“Come on, Mari, it’s not like he would know.” Alya chastised.
“I gave my mate my word.” Mari growled, “Don’t make me a liar. If Adrien is there when I show up, I’ll levae and I will tell him. Likely, he’ll ban me from seeing you as well.”
“That’s not fair!” Alya shouted, “We’ve been friends forever and-”
“But he is my mate and my only pack member! When you have a pack, you’ll know what I’m talking about.” Mari replied, “I have two classes with Adrien and we’re already getting my schedule rearranged.”
“So, we won’t see you at lunch?” she asked.
“You haven’t had lunch with me in months.” Marinette sighed, “I’ve been meeting Damian for three months.”
“Adrien-”
“Stopped being my friend the moment I became a Beta.” Marinete declared, “You leave with Nino and he runs away from me as fast as possible. I’ve been alone since I matured.”
“Why didn’t you ever say anything?” Alya pressured.
“What was I suppose to say? Alya, instead of going on dates with your boyfriend, can you both stay with me? Can you force Adrien to continue being friends with me?” Marinette asked, sarcastically, “The moment he started ignoring me and cancelling our video game session, barely looked a me, barely spoke to me, I knew I wasn’t anything in his eyes.”
Alya bit her lip. She had hoped that by leaving them alone, they would finally get together. It had only driven them apart.
“Don’t worry about it, Alya. I can hear you overthinking through the phone.” Mari giggled, “Just make separate plans with us and it’ll be fine. I think I can convince Damian it will be okay as long as he comes along. Anyways, I’m gonna go. Maman is making onion soup tonight and my head has been hurting. I hope I’m not coming down with anything. My stomach has been in knots and I really don’t want to pass anything to Damian.”
“Okay, Girl.” Alya sighed, “Go eat. Get some sleep and I’ll pass the message to Nino. Talk to you at school.”
“Night, Alya.” Marinette stated and hung up.
But Marinette never showed up to class. After a week, Alya was getting worried and Marinette wasn’t answering her texts. The next week, she went straight to the bakery.
“Alya?” Sabine questioned.
“Is Marinette okay?” she asked, “She’s not answering my calls or texts. She’s not in class. She mentioned feeling sick and-”
Sabine laughed, “Marinette is fine. I suppose Damian is keeping her occupied and comfortable. She won’t be in school for a couple months. You’ll probbaly be able to see her again in five months.”
“Fi-Months?” Alya shrieked, “Why? Is he holding her prisoner?”
Tom smiled, “The opposite, actually. He’s protecting her and making sure she’s comfortable. We’ll be grandparents by then.”
‘Marinette is pregnant!’

Marinette hesitantly followed Damian to his dorm room. She wasn’t sure what he wanted to talk to her privately about. The only thing she could guess was him asking her to become a packmate with him. Once they had made it into his room, Damian closed the door.
Before she could speak, Damian pinned her to the wall and bit her neck, marking her as his.
‘He-He bit me! I’m not a packmate; I’m his mate!’
Marinette looked at Damian in shock.
“Damian, why?” she questioned.
“Did you not-” he began.
“I’m a Beta! That isn’t where the pack mark goes!” Mari shouted, tearfully, “Oh no; didn’t you mention you were betrothed? We-”
“I don’t care!” he growled.
“Your wolf!” she shouted, “Are you okay? Let’s lay you down!”
Damian smiled as she took his hand and guided him to the couch.
'I knew I made the right choice.’
'Perhaps you did. She quickly took control.’
“Should I call someone to come here?” Marinette asked.
“No.” Damian answered.
“But-” she began.
“I don’t care about the betrothal. I never have. I’ve been tryign to get out of it.” Damian growled, then sighed, “Am I unworthy of you?”
“What?” Mari cried in shock, “If anything, you’re above me! If anything, I’m unworthy of you!”
The Wayne heir smiled, “I don’t see it that way.”
Marinette bit her lip as she tried to stop the tears from rushing down her cheeks.
'He chose wrong. I know he did. He can’t possibly like me!’
“I don’t want to hurt you.” Mari sobbed into her hands.
“You’re not.” he declared, pulling her into a kiss.
Damian wiped the tears from her cheeks and led her into his bedroom.
