BIOGRAPHY:

Her cruel and unloving father raised Abigail in a swamp in Georgia after her mother died during childbirth. Her father never once told Abigail he loved her, despite her loving him. Abigail spent her time outside, exploring the swamp and befriending other kids.

There was a serial killer in their town- the Peter Pan killer, named as such because he targeted children and promised them a better life. Abigail thought it was strange how every kid she tried to befriend was a victim. How they'd disappear without a trace...

One day, she was playing in the swamp, daring to get in the murky water- something she never did. She was horrified to find a severed arm in the depths, leading to the discovery of her recent friend, Maggie. She realized with a sickening dread that there were more bodies in the water and that they were all the missing kids.

She rushed out of the water and ran inside, calling the police. She barely had her address out when she felt a sharp pain in her side. Her father had stabbed her, having heard the commotion.

She fought him, headbutting him in the nose as hard as she could. He stumbled back, and she ripped the knife out of his hand. She held her other hand over her bleeding wound as she held the knife at him, just in time for the cops to bust in.

As he was being dragged off, he told her he always hated her, and he'd kill her if he broke out of jail.

Abigail blamed herself for the kid's deaths. She decided to study law and became an FBI agent because she wanted to help other kids and others affected by monsters like her father.

The briefing room was buzzing with anticipation.

Task Force 141 rarely got new blood, and even when they did, it was usually some solid operator with passable skills—not the kind of legend they were about to meet. The dossier on the table was immaculate. Flawless mission execution, unrivaled hand-to-hand combat skills, top of her class in advanced recon and assassination. Even Ghost, who barely gave out praise, muttered a low, “Bloody hell.” when he skimmed through the stats.

Soap whistled, flipping through the pages. “Whoever this guy is, he’s a machine.”

“More like a ghost,” Gaz added. “Been attached to multiple high-profile operations, all with near-perfect outcomes.” He glanced at Price. “How the hell did we even land them?”

Price smirked, arms crossed. “Favors. Strings pulled. And a bit of luck.”

The door to the room opened, and all eyes flicked up—ready to meet the highly anticipated new operator.

And then she walked in.

Silence.

Ghost leaned back slightly in his chair. Soap sat up straighter. Gaz blinked like he’d been hit with a flashbang.

The guy they had all been hyping up? Not a guy at all.

She was American, too. That was the second shock.

She stood confidently, expression unreadable as her gaze swept the room, taking in each of them like she was assessing a threat. Her movements were deliberate, controlled, the kind of presence that told them all she was just as deadly as her file made her out to be.

Soap was the first to recover. “You’re… not what I was expectin’.”

She arched a brow. “What were you expecting?”

“Someone less… eh, distracting.” His grin was pure mischief.

Gaz scoffed. “He means someone ugly.”

Her lips curled slightly, but she didn’t entertain the joke. “Disappointed?”

“Far from it,” Ghost murmured.

Price cleared his throat, stepping forward. “You’re a long way from home, Sergeant.”

She turned her attention to him, offering a sharp salute. “Not the first time, sir.”

Price gave a nod of approval before the rest of the team jumped in.

“So, what do we call you?” Gaz asked. “Your file just has your last name.”

Soap rubbed his chin, eyeing her with a smirk. “I’m thinkin’… Yankee.”

Groans echoed around the table.

“That’s terrible.” Gaz shook his head.

“You’re terrible.”

“She’s from America, aye? It fits.”

She rolled her eyes. “Call me whatever you want, just don’t get in my way.”

Soap grinned. “Oh, I like her.”

Before anyone could throw out another nickname, Ghost leaned back in his seat and drawled, “Ace.”

A pause.

Gaz nodded. “That’s actually decent.”

Soap pouted but relented. “Alright, alright. Ace it is.”

The banter continued—multiple offers for drinks, jokes about whether she was single, and Soap loudly declaring that Ghost had competition for brooding dominance. It took Price stepping in to get them back in line.

“Enough,” he barked, glaring at his men. “You’re soldiers, not a damn welcome committee.”

A few chuckles. No real apologies.

Then, to her surprise, Price turned to her. “Ace, with me.”

She followed him out of the room, a bit curious as to why he wanted a private word. The second the door shut, he let out a slow breath and gave her a look she couldn’t quite read.

“You alright with all that?”

She smirked. “I’ve handled worse.”

“I don’t doubt it.” His gaze lingered for a moment before he straightened, voice dropping to something lower, quieter. “I’d tell you to ignore their flirting, but…” He exhaled. “That’d be hypocritical of me.”

She blinked, caught off guard. “…Sir?”

His jaw flexed, then a slow, knowing smirk tugged at his lips.

“Dinner. My treat.”

She tilted her head, considering him. “Is this an order?”

Price chuckled. “No, Ace. It’s an invitation.”

For the first time, she was the one caught off guard.

Re: your tags on that post about ADHD: if it helps, this is like, my exact experience and I got diagnosed with ADHD recently. The "sat in front of an assignment I am capable of producing Something for but not doing it for hours, even though there is external pressure on me" happened to me, repeatedly, and in my last year of highschool it even had me crying on an almost weekly basis. That's what got me to fail the last semester of my licence last year, also. If it's bothering you and you're in a position to, I'd recommend getting an appointment with a specialist to check & so they can help (and if you have options, not an older guy, they're the most likely to tell you that if you weren't a hyperactive boy well you must be fine, which. Okay. Well I'm not.) I had to wait maybe like six months for an appointment at a public hospital, mais hey grâce à la sécu c'était gratuit and the lady was very helpful. In any case, I'm shaking your hand metaphorically. Me too 😔

yeah i might do that at some point but i've had pretty bad experiences with mental health care in general and specifically the people i mentioned possibly having adhd to. like. I tried four times i think? to four different professions, two of them i was seeing for entirely something else and two specifically because i suspected adhd, et je me suis fait expédier hyper vite donc au final je sais pas si je me suis fait skip par des docteurs qui avaient la flemme, ou si c'est obvious que j'ai pas de TDAH (aussi vu que aucun psy avant ni depuis n'a mentionné ça à part apparemment mon pédiatre quand j'avais 3 ans ?)

bref je suis juste tellement pas préparé.e à ramener et défendre mon dossier et tout, parce que de toute façon l'anxiété-dépression c'est avéré, historique de phobie scolaire c'est avéré, y'a peut-être potentiellement un autisme qui se balade aussi, donc ce serait pas un diag plié en voyant s'il y a symptôme ou pas quoi. Après je me doute bien que c'est une situation plutôt commune pcq ça va main dans la main les comorbidités, mais qmême.

désolé.e je vais ramble mais j'ai une immense hantise de me rattacher à l'idée d'avoir un TDAH juste parce que c'est un truc pour lequel il y a des médicaments. Parce que j'ai envie de find the vitamin et de trouver LE truc qui va régler tous mes défauts et toutes mes mauvaises habitudes, toute ma mauvaise hygiène de travail. J'ai trop peur de mal interpréter les symptômes du TDAH, j'ai trop peur de dramatiser ce que je vis, j'ai trop peur de mal comprendre et identifier mes problèmes, j'ai trop peur d'essayer de rejeter la faute sur un problème neurologique alors que c'est un truc sur lequel j'aurais pu bosser moi-même quoi.

Du coup le tag why i could have adhd le but c'est un peu de regrouper des indications queeeeee.... voilà quoi. Mais ouais. Je saurais pas défendre ça devant un.e pro. Et surtout bah, autant l'autisme y'a déjà une pro qui l'a suggéré (justement une dame qui m'a expédié.e comme un chien de son cabinet quand j'étais venu.e dire que je pensais que j'avais un TDAH, elle m'a dit d'aller voir du côté du centre régional de l'autisme ou jsp quoi si elle y était, plus ou moins), autant le TDAH non. Mais en même temps, si ce que je vis est un TDAH, primo on connaît les stats de diag des petites filles, et deuzio 80% de ma famille agit comme ça. DONC JSP. bref.

thought i'd update you on some fun stuff. i've got the stat page pretty much done, and i gotta toot my own horn with the "check the news" page. gave me a real headache.

anyway, it's completely random. dumb headlines that just make the city feel more alive. massive amount of random. like I have news_id down to a science, even if one of the news that pop up is just "a case of batter-y; smpd still on the hunt for the elusive pancake bandit."

not all fun and games, once you start making big moves, there's gonna be articles you can read through. like "shock resurgence: supposedly defunct gang linked with recent unrest" and "exclusive q&a with mayor: responding to public outrage over police ineffectiveness".

so basically there are choices that become news articles, heists that get attention, confrontations that get the front page. it's been fun coming up with them. even the jokey ones, shows that the city has a pulse outside the gang stuff.

and there's ofc the glossary of terms, relationships and dossiers, all that fun stuff. kinda wanna beef it out a bit more but let's see what feels right.

hyeseong was born and raised in seoul, south korea as the youngest of three children. he has an elder sister and elder brother neither of whom he is particularly close with because he was truly treated as the baby and prince of the family by his parents. his father is some high-powered executive in a large corporation while his mother is a known political figure. as such by proxy of his parents, he's no stranger to the media itself.

unlike his siblings he's more free to do what he wants and pursue what he wants. of course he still has to get good grades in school but they don't have a set life path for him as they do for his elder siblings. over the years he goes through a myriad of different hobbies, some of which are quite expensive and a lot of which he drops quickly when he becomes uninterested.

he was taken care of nannies a lot when he was a child because of how busy his parents were in their careers. more often than not they give him money when he's seeking affection or attention and through that he becomes quite spoiled. though he can never quite get over the starving for physical affection that would continue to affect him as as he becomes an adult.

he eventually finds a hobby to stick with when he is gifted a guitar when he is about ten years old. with a very expensive tutor he learns to play the guitar and becomes increasingly interested in music and the korean music entertainment industry.

while still in school he makes the decision to pursue a career as an idol and ends up auditioning for csj entertainment (midas music) and gets accepted as a trainee around the age of sixteen. there were rumors that at some point spread among the trainees that his parents had helped in securing his spot as a trainee but hyeseong never let it bother him and worked hard during his training to show that he wasn't just there because of that and that he actually had talent and to surprise of a few that he was actually a hard worker.

during his time he ended up gravitated towards rapping, though by no means are his vocals not up to par for the group, they are, but rapping seemed to be something that came to him quite naturally and with a push he decided to focus on it and hone his rapping skills.

barely a year of training and the company surprises him when they want him to go on a competition show, show me the money 3. essentially a show where he'll compete against other rappers, both newbies like himself, and more seasoned veterans. he's not even debuted yet, but decides to go along with it and though he doesn't win he ends up a semi-finalist and makes quite the impression.

it earns him a fanbase that supports him when he competes on nu phase with team a. his time on show me the money 3 makes him not as nervous about nu phase and when his team wins on the show, hyeseong debuts as the main rapper of phaze and goes by the stage name eden.

since their debut hyeseong has been pretty involved, he's done some songwriting and production when allowed on b-sides, he had his solo debut in 2019 which was well-received and his solo fans especially loved. periodically he's also been putting out digital singles that aren't promoted as well as becoming more involved in fashion with photoshoots, brand deals including his current big one with balmain as well as attending fashion week in paris before. he's been working a lot but he doesn't mind it one bit.

personality

hyeseong is definitely outgoing, kind of a loud person and very spontaneous when it comes to his decisions and can change his mind on something at the drop of a hat. he likes to have fun and enjoy himself and is definitely the type to take you on adventures when he's feeling up for it, even if you aren't. he can be a bit reckless and act before he thinks but he's trying to be better about that, especially when it comes to work things. but is also a really stubborn person and when he gets stuck on something it's hard to change his mind or dissuade him from something. he is truly a hard worker but he does have a rebellious streak and will go out on the town, party, drink, and/or sleep around because why not, it's not like he's gotten in terrible trouble for it. not an overly mean person or anything but can be a little spoiled and haughty at times, you know grew up a rich boy and baby of his family.

friends he's been close with since they were trainees, it's fine if they are from a different company but they trained around the same time and bonded through the process.

a partner in crime, arguably his best friend in the whole world who doesn't mind getting into fun/trouble with him. will totally encourage in it and they are as thick as thieves.

an on again off again ex, open to either gender cause he's a bi boy. a toxic relationship? they get back together, they fight, they break up, they make up, and so on and so forth. for some reason they just can't stay away from each other.

some gaming buddies? he plays mostly competitive games like valorant or league of legends, so when there is down time they could maybe play together?

party buddies? people who go out with him when they're not supposed to the clubs in town and risk getting into trouble.

PORTRAYAL. my kagetsu has two noteworthy sides to him per canon; his flirtatious way of speaking and his tendency to assume closeness. he's from a landlocked fictional japan that is separated from the rest of solm by an entire mountain range; he doesn't understand cross-cultural nuances perfectly so there will be misunderstandings. 90% of the time he says something flirty he just wants to be friends. the 10% is this kid knowing exactly what he's doing.

SUPPORTS. for engage characters with whom kagetsu possesses a canon support, i will assume they have reached a-rank for sake of standardization.

DISCLAIMER. kagetsu has inherited a minor strain of precognition from his priestess mother. he's able to predict the future to a limited and useless extent like knowing the weather or what dinner will be served that day. i will never leverage this over your muse in an invasive or non-gag way.

NSFW. in moderation, yes; and funny story. if you asked me who in engage had the most bodies i would say kagetsu. 26, not unattractive, go-getter, and a free spirit; kagetsu wants to be friends and he also wants to be "friends"; the media stereotype shy asian man with no sex drive is mega lame but also kagetsu is Not shy. there's a reason why the boucheron x kagetsu support is so famous.

➔ Miklan is an unreliable narrator: take whatever he has to say about how other muses treat(ed) him with heavy grains of salt/don't trust his words at face value. He views himself as a perpetual victim and takes the most malicious reading of other peoples actions. He's oblivious to the immense privilege(s) that he has compared to his peers. ➔ This is especially true in the case of Matthias and Sylvain. He heavily exaggerates the extent of their actions to be worse than they actually were (ie: "I was being starved" → did not get his dessert after being mean to Sylvain). ➔ He will start off as condescending and arrogant towards other muses: especially to muses who posses special blood that grants them power and/or authority. ➔ Muses who are close with Matthias and Sylvain on a personal level (ie family friends such as Lambert & Ingrid) will recognize Miklan as being their son/brother. ➔ Muses who have not been told about Miklan's existence will not know he's the son/brother of Matthias & Sylvain (exceptions are muses' with keen eyes ie Claude & Yuri). They may see a heavy resemblance to either Gautier, but they wont know that for a fact he's directly related to them. ➔ Miklan's will undergo character growth (I'll be keeping an active record); but please let me know if you'd like to tone down his behaviour with your muse.

He's the ( reluctant ) returning Captain of the Knights of Seiros. Jeralt won't make it obvious that he is to those who know nothing about the Knights, although his reputation does precede him. A very modest lad, if I do say so myself.

RAFAL. "Who is Rafal?" I am happy to answer that question. Rafal is a major character from the Fell Xenologue DLC. Truncated, he is the antagonist, a Fell Dragon, and an atoner. Living with the sins of destroying his world, he is self-sacrificing and self-loathing as well as proud and self-centered. With both high and low self esteem, he has every disease. He also has an older twin named Nel.

PORTRAYAL. My Rafal portrayal is postgame oriented and he did join the army, but I hand wave his recruitment period as being during late game. This combined with Rafal's avoidant personality means that whether your muse has seen him around (or not) has equal plausibility.

SUPPORTS. For Engage characters with whom Rafal possesses a canon support, including Hound analogues of which there is Exactly one, I will assume they have reached A rank for sake of standardization.

DISCLAIMER. Rafal's intense nature paired with a history of debilitating loneliness means that he feels the 'strong urge to possess those that he likes'. His possessiveness is canon, but it will only apply to muses in an S and A support rank context. Alternatively, those writers can let me know if they'd rather I omit it.

tl;dr for Issliss is that it's a "Biopunk*" fantasy world with very low/minimal magic. A thousand years ago, humans invaded a land of intelligent monsters. They failed, and for a millennia humans have been subjugated by three awful factions that rule the continent. Issliss runs entirely on d6s. It's designed for very streamlined combat (to minimize the amount of gameplay time spent waiting for mechanically complicated turns), and cooperation.

A human cannot make it in this world alone. But together, you might be able to make a difference and stand against the oppressive creatures who use humans as labor and food.

*a lot of things that call themselves punk are just an aesthetic with no actual punk themes. Issliss is VERY much a game about organizing small rebellions against fascist systems. The player group is literally called a "cell" and your game stats are displayed as "VECTORs" (Vigor, Endurance, Cunning, Temperament, Observation, Reflexes), i.e. how your character would be quantified on a dossier put together by your oppressors. We developed systems for "Synergy" to emphasize the theme of human players working together to achieve larger goals.
