The tears I actually shed while drawing this omg. I am not a cry baby, I SWEAR. I just got into it a little and poured my heart out into this update. I shall pause it here so I can focus on Luigi’s Escape Plan. It is nearly complete anyways! Stay tuned and let the angst simmer while y’all wait for the continuation!

what could you think of for a second and third phase for super dimentio

Ymmm I don't really see him having another phases so no but I've had something for the first 20 seconds of his initial battle in mind.

Tag, he's it.

okay so like spm spoilers and stuff but:

When you first start the battle with Super Dimentio there's a certain period of time where he's invincible. You can't damage him and nothing really happens until Timpani returns with the Pure Hearts.

Now in my personal opinion while I'm still glad they added this moment, it still left me a little unsatisfied. Here's why:

Dimentio turning into Super Dimentio with Luigi is his big moment, his victory. He has become something that is indestructible, something that generations of Ancients have been passing down. He is a god. The time frame where he's indestructible in the game is supposed to show that you are powerless against him, that no Pixl and no item will do anything. This is supposed to make you realize in the moment that: it's truly hopeless.

Unfortunately Dimentios spotlight is VERY quickly taken from him, which makes the idea less effective than it could've been. You see Dimentio working for this the entire game, just for him to win in the end only for 20 seconds and then turn into a joke of a fight. The speech he gives before the fight is longer than the actual boss, making everything slightly anticlimactic (at least to me).

The concept I've been thinking about using in my take of the Super Mario lore (SPM specifically here) is that those 20 seconds of standing and waiting around for the game to decide it's time to move on are instead spent on: A reverse game of magical tag.

The concept of a magical tag itself is used earlier in the game by Dimentio himself who makes Mario and Luigi humour him by traveling through the worlds they have been in before and finding ripples in space he's leaving behind to keep the game going. I thought by turning this moment of 20 second invincibility into a game of magical tag where he's “it” this time would help that feeling of hopelessness and stakes sink in.

In this scenario Mario still cannot fight back as Dimentio,actively chasing him, is invincible, which forces him to run from danger. He runs from world to world, but now in contrast to the previous tag game, the worlds are being wiped out as you go through them for the final time. They're barely holding on, torn from their colors and mixing with the white void peeking through. Maybe some leftover npcs encouraging to keep going or just being terrified instead. Dimentio is chasing after you, peeking his long arms or head through the ripples to strike, and as he makes his way behind you the world progressively disappears and you have to make it out before it's entirely gone, else its game over. In the end of this chase you make it back to Castle Bleck where it picks up on Timpani restoring the Pure Hearts with Blumiere and using them to help Mario by removing Super Dimentios invincibility.

In conclusion I think making this moment akin to what I described above would help set the tone of this enemy more. For one this moment is now LONGER so you can see direct consequences of Dimentios victory outside and think about it more, second it turns you into an actual helpless plaything that you were meant to be. The entire path of the chase leads you back to Castle Bleck, it's a circle. This time you cannot escape and this time the evil doings have been set in motion on a rapid scale. It's a moment of Darkness that's broken by Timpani, someone who has been with you since the beginning and who you saw grow. She's now full of love and determined to win, something that to me comes off as super inspiring. She has been cursed to live a miserable existence yet she found the Light thanks to you. And THAT'S why you shouldn't give up even after all the ruined worlds you've seen. You have to keep fighting for them even in their darkest moment, even when they're gone.

does dimentio ever go on adventures with luigi and the rest? or does he just perpetually do his own separate thing/stay at home

honestly Dimentio would be nothing short of a detrimental MENACE as a travel buddy and i love to think about it. sure, the Bros would be able to save a ton of time by just teleporting where they need to go, but at what cost?

Possibilities:

Dimentio would get bored immediately and just warp them to the final boss. the Bros spend a good 20 minutes trying to explain why that is cheating and no fun

He just hangs around with "guide" functionality. explaining things in either incredibly convoluted or sarcastic ways. arguing with any townsfolk they encounter. being casually rude to Mario until Luigi smacks him with a hammer.

He monopolizes all the items by placing them in Dimension D and the Bros have to haggle with him to get them back

When enemies or NPCs annoy or talk down to Luigi, Dimentio just teleports them away. He refuses to disclose where he's sending them to.

the Bros find Dimentio being oddly helpful. Later they run into the real Dimentio lounging in a lawn chair sipping a martini through a silly straw and realize they've been with a clone the whole time

He routinely disappears throughout the adventure with no explanation. Sometimes he appears, hands Luigi a cool rock he found, then leaves again.

He probably tries multiple times to convince Luigi to leave Mario and join the villain instead. When Luigi gets fed up with him, he says "Oh, you know i was just joking! ...................Unless." and gets thrown into a trashcan

So. I got an idea. And as some can guess it involved our favourite little green plumber and his villain trio. No idea how to title this so feel free to drop down any ideas.

Here's the story:

King Boo is once again sitting in this damned prison after his third failure with the hotel, bored out of his mind and only listening to that insufferable professor's and Luigi's conversation since even his schemes for when he got out of here again wasn't helping him pass the time. By this point he knew he'd be free again, that old coot's days are numbered and it shows all too well with him constantly giving him the chance to escape.

Those two weren't talking about anything too interesting which led to King Boo only half-listening to what they were saying, not interested in the professor's new invention or Luigi updating Egadd on Mario's newest adventure. Until he heard this.

The professor suddenly asked Luigi about any adventures that particularly stuck with him since he had joined Mario on such adventures a couple of times and often led to a battle against Bowser and new enemies. Luigi thought about it and told him about Pi'illo Island and about the Bat King named Antasma, how he and his brother fought him in the Dream World and all the other crazy stuff that followed.

King Boo grew even more interested when the professor asked about any other, how Luigi thought about it once again and suddenly looked conflicted and tense. The professor asked if he was OK and the green plumber replied that he didn't want to talk about it but Egadd urged him, more interested than ever. With great reluctance and a much more frightened tone, Luigi said that something occurred a couple of years back and it was so awful that it couldn't even be called an adventure and the enemy that was fought was nothing but pure evil. King Boo waited in anticipation as Egadd asked for a name and with great trouble, Luigi uttered ever so quietly the name.

Dimentio.

The conversation ended right at that moment and it gave King Boo time to think again. His mind was scheming like never before. From what he heard, both of those villains were dead, most likely in the Underwhere. That was fine, he had no problem roaming around there freely and he could find a way to smuggle them out. This could possibly be it. This could be his chance to finally have his revenge on that green wretched that has humiliated him so much. He'd make him suffer and not even death would set him free him his wrath.

A wicked grin appeared on King Boo's face and a crazed shiny appeared in his eyes as the plan grew more and more detailed, more horrifying, more real.

Prepare yourself Luigi, because the ghosts of your past are coming back to haunt you once more.

Hey question, what’s your honest opinions on canon Dimentio? Like, wasted potential maybe?

OOOOO this is very interesting

I’m not saying this because he’s my ultimate fave (I’m very critical of super paper mario and it’s my ultimate fave game-wise), but I believe he’s perfect. Like honest to god if the writers nailed ANYTHING, they nailed Dimentio and everything about him

Dimentio is a very secretive character. Sure, he might not initially appear to be. He’s consistently flaunting himself in his attire and his words, words that seem so full at a glance, but are ominously empty when scrutinized. He forces the audience’s attention to fall upon him. He WANTS all eyes to stare, both the characters’ and the person’s on the other side of the screen. He is draped in a rich, smooth purple and a sharp, extremely pale yellow. He makes purple and yellow, two complementary colors, seem inverse. He makes them wrong. He makes everything wrong. Something about this character is wrong. It’s not the fact he’s on the villain’s team. It’s something else. Something you can feel but can’t put into words. It’s those words. It’s those colors. It’s that smile. It’s that two-faced mask.

And of course you’re right. Of course he’s the secret villain. He has to be. What else is his purpose? The heroes are victorious, the villain who was also destroying all worlds is redeemed because his motive was known, the other villains live the rest of their lives with good intent in their hearts, and Dimentio is dead.

And … It can stay that way. You don’t have to know anything else. There’s no more Memories. There’s nothing more that you cannot miss. Dimentio can remain as he wished to be: Unreadable. Secretive. Wrong.

But, if you wanted to, you could go beyond what the game intended you to. You could find and take out the narrative that was tucked away and hidden for you. Only you. There’s no cast of characters or musical score witnessing this part of the story with you. It’s just you. You, and Dimentio. Dimentio is dead.

I love Blumiere so, so much. He’s such a beautifully crafted character that is pure tragedy personified, and he deserves nothing but love, and thankfully, that is something he is lucky enough to possess. But Blumiere is a liar. Dimentio is a liar, too. Blumiere lost someone he loved. Dimentio lost someone he loved, too. Blumiere never found happiness. Dimentio never found happiness, either. Blumiere tried to destroy existence. Dimentio tried to destroy existence, too. Blumiere revealed his secrets. Dimentio did not. Blumiere is, somewhere, alive. Dimentio is dead.

How crazy is it that something that was so critical for Super Paper Mario’s story to unfold was only halfway told? How crazy is it that the writers created two characters that are so beautiful and so tragic and have to be handled with the utmost amount of care and an unbelievable amount of nuance and only one’s story is brought to light? To me, that is the best thing they could have done. Dimentio’s story did not need to be told like Blumiere’s. It would have harmed his character- his secretive, unreadable character. The writers wanted him to be a mystery, and by god they did not go back on their word. They kept him true to himself, and he died true to himself. Maybe he’s alive, somewhere, true to himself. It would not be the first time he and Blumiere mirrored one another.

It is fascinating to me. It’s something I’ve rarely seen accomplished this well, it’s something I’ve rarely seen accomplished at ALL. To me, Dimentio is far from wasted potential. To me, he is one of the best characters, both good and evil, that Nintendo has ever created, and the fact a good portion of people may be confused with why I hold that perspective is precisely why I personally have it. Dimentio’s perfection as a character IS that confusion. What is not known is what makes everything. This game’s writing is beyond words and I believe that even when it’s showered in praise it still remains unappreciated. It’s part of why I hold it so close to my heart and have for all these years. It’s so unique. It’s so beautiful. It’s so tragic. It’s so secretive. It’s alive.

Ok so first off thank you guys so much for all the love and support on the previous comic, it really does mean a lot. I might try to continue it in some way, either by just drawing some key moments, or sharing the script of it. But anyways!! Here’s some behind-the-scenes and fun facts about the comic!

This was the initial concept sketch from back in May. I wanted to focus on the creepy expressions that Luigi would have with mimicking Dimentio’s, but didn’t go that much into detail in the comic since it was just meant to be sketching out the ideas

These were the sketches for what was the next planned sequence, but I just didn’t like the action poses. SPEAKING OF ACTION POSES-

When trying to visualize the fight scene, I’d boot up Smash Ultimate and observe their attacks. I’d go to training mode and have so it advances by one frame at a time and just stare at it. I just spammed all of their attacks to learn about their fighting style and how they move.

Fun fact! Pretty much every Dimentio that floats behind Luigi were all drawn while I was on a 6 hour plane ride back in August

Writing stories always have you researching the most bizarre and mundane shit. I had to scrub through videos to see how Mimi teleports, and in the end I didn’t even do the one in the video. In Chapter 2 when Mimi is chasing you, she has a unique animation when she enters the room where she basically materializes out of a bunch of squares. There was no way I was going to be able to replicate that effect in 2 panels, so I went with the normal flipping animation- which she does do in her normal form.

Time for fun details :3

While the “dependent” one isn’t based on any specific moments, the other two are each from the previous Paper Mario games (woohoo I love canonical timelines!). “Insecure” is based on Luigi telling Mario about his adventures in TTYD, while his partner Blooey says that he’s lying. “Obsessed” was a bit harder for me to find an example of, but I settled on a line from his diary in the original Paper Mario. In one of his entries he talks about how the Goomba family came to visit and gave him a treat, and he writes “It looked so yummy I ate it without telling my brother! My FP increased by 3. .........You think he'll notice?”. Now this could be interpreted as “do you think he’ll know that I ate it without him” or something like that, but the way I interpreted it was that he’s proud of his FP increasing and wonders if Mario would notice this ‘accomplishment’, as if he’s desperate for his brother’s approval.

Luigi’s hand twitching is him trying to break free :) that punch angered him so much that he overpowered Dimentio’s control on him enough to be able to move his fingers around :)

The Dollmaker - A one shot based on a Dimentio AU i made

Something was off.

You had no clue exactly what made you feel this, but there was something in your gut.

Mr. L had been missing for a while, which seemed normal, as he’s been trying out his own little adventures lately, but this time something felt unusual about it. Maybe it just had something to do with the doll that looked like Mr. L that Dimentio had recently crafted. It’s not usual for him to make dolls based on existing people he knew, so that could’ve been another reason. But for now, you just decided to sleep it off.

You woke up at about 2AM later that night. Because your throat felt a bit scratchy, you decided to grab a glass of water. The count had a pretty big castle, so it took you some time to find its kitchen. However, on your search, you notice the lights to Dimentio’s room were on, and the door was wide open. “Hmmm…” you thought, “what’s he doing up anyways? Maybe I should check on him?” So you approached the door of his bedroom and very gently nudged it to peek inside, although he was nowhere to be found.

“Dimentio?” You softly called out, as to not wake anyone up. No answer. You slowly crept around the room, looking for where he could possibly be. He had a pretty big room with lots of things scattered about, which sort of made you feel like giving up, till you noticed another door with very dim lights on behind it. At first you thought, “maybe it’s just a closet” but then you thought it probably wouldn’t hurt to look. When you entered this little side area, you were met with a very long hallway. It was mostly mirrors, so well polished and clear that they looked like you could just jump inside.

And someone did.

You called out to them, and they slowly approached you in the very dim light as you squinted your eyes. The person had a very blank expression on their face, and their movements were almost doll-like. As they became clearer in this oddly dim lit room, you made out exactly who this person was.

It was Mr. L.

“L? Is that you?” You asked. “Were you here all this time?” He tilted his head to the side, and you noticed a floro sprout sticking out of his head. The sprout had some ribbon tied to it too, the way it was tied looked almost like a marionette’s strings in a way. “Why wouldn’t I be here?” He scoffed. “Don’t be stupid, (Y/N), I’m obviously one of Master Dimentio’s dolls, duh.” Your eyes widened, “d-dolls?” He sighed, “uh, yeah, that’s what I said. Was it the Master’s will to make you this stupid? Jeez… He’s really just making anything to do his bidding…” You felt your heart sink into your stomach. “Ugh, whatever, I don’t have time for this. L-ater.” And just like that, he walked off.

So that’s what was so off. That’s why you felt that dread inside your stomach upon seeing that handcrafted doll that looked like Mr. L. “What the… hell?” You were frozen where you stood. All of this was just so confusing, and you had so many questions.

What is his “bidding” that Mr. L was talking about? Why did L have a floro sprout in his head? Is he just turning everyone into his puppets? What for? I don’t get it, what are his plans?

You decided you had to get out of there, as well as shake off the frozen feeling, and ponder all those questions later. You knew he was obsessed with his work with dolls but this was just so odd to you. You ran out of that hallway and slammed the door behind you. Taking in a deep breath, you noticed something you hadn’t seen before. There were more dolls, except they were all works in progress. Something about each one resembled features of the count’s minions in a way. You felt yourself feel even more devastated and you gulped, trying to make your way out of Dimentio’s room to the door that he left open. That’s when your foot hit something on the ground. It was a doll that resembled the count, except its head was completely torn off and smashed into pieces!

You gasped and covered your mouth, was he planning to betray the count?! You backed up a few steps, and almost ran into Dimentio’s desk, and you noticed what you wish you had noticed way before coming into that room, what could’ve made you piece everything together, a doll with your exact hair color, eye color, favorite thing to wear, and every other little detail about you. You decided that for your own good, you’d take the little mini-you and run out the door. You’d figure out if you were gonna say nothing or tell the count later after you slept on it.

Just as you grabbed your little doll lookalike, you heard your exit creak open more, and the sound of a certain jester’s jingling bells.

“And so, like a dog being caught doing its business on a fine family rug, I’ve caught you, and you surely won’t go unpunished~”

Plot holes

Now, I'll put all the plot holes that we can find in the game and the game/the history didn't answer. So, get ready! Because are a lot of them.

1⁘ How the Tribe of Darkness knowed that the marriage out of the magic group will diluted their powers?

Well, this is the one that has the most possibilities of get solved, because, in the game we notice that this tribe didn't mix with other people a cause of pride. And also they had xenophobia, an encyclopedy give the answer: Xenophobia is a term that refers to the phobia, aversion or fear towards foreign people or people from different cultures. Yehah. We alreay know why they din't mix with other people, but,Why they've do that? Because of fear of what happened in the Pixl War, that's why they seppareted from the the tribe of ancients. But, ¿How the Tribe of Darkness knowed that the marriage out of the magic group will diluted their powers? My theory seen in Dimentio's part explains this. 

But, besides that, we still have no anwer a this question, make it a plot hole.

2⁘ The humans in Spm.

I already explain this in my last part,in my theory about this issue. But, What we know about these people in the game? The only human 100% confirmed is Tmpani. She's a member of a tribe near at Blumiere's tribe, and that's all the data we know.

How they know about the ancients' and tribe of darkness' problems? What plane of existence are they on? Or, It's a different dimension? Well, probably we'll never know..

3⁘ What happened to the members of the tribe of ancients and the members of the tribe of darkness between the moment they separated and the begginig in the events of the game?

The lapse is 1,500 years, and we know nothing. It looks like during that time, anyone did nothing. Just we know is that, in the same time they've founded Flipside, the tribe of drakness for a strange reason help them to build Flopside, and that's it.  

4⁘ What happened to Blumiere and Timapni after the events of spm?

They died? Were to overthere? Did they returned to their places of origin? ? We'll meet them again? Who knows?

5⁘ What happened to the members of the tribe of darkness?

According to the official guide, Blumiere when he becomes Count Bleck, killed, assesinated all the members of his tribe, no one survived, and took the castle where he used to live and transformed in Castle Bleck. But, this are only a assumption. Well, maybe not. Because Timpani felt the exactly moment when it happened, and that brings me to my next point:

6⁘ Why Timpani felt what happened in the memories 6 and 7?

The memories are... memories that throughout history is shown to observe the background of these two emblematic characters, from Timpani point of view. But, How did she felt the the fall of his beloved when he become Count Bleck? Because she was not present. Mysterious mysteries.

Although someone shared me that they thought the memories was told from the point of view of Blumiere. If you want to see them from that point of view, it could be BOTH.

7⁘ Blumiere's family

In the hole history, we only know two members of the tribe of darkness: Blumiere and Blumiere's father. We also tought that the reason why his father was very strict with him, it is because he had a high rank within the tribe, or that he was even the chief. But, Mom? Siblings? Family? We don't know. Or perhaps, he is it just like 90% of the protagonists, without a real family or relationships with anyone.

8⁘ Why are different kind of people on Flipside/Flopside?

You'll see, in Flopside are many different kinds of people, descendants of the tribe of anciens/tribe of darkness, what manner of creatures they are is never made explicit, although as they are descendants of the Ancients who are confirmed to have been human, it seems likely they can be considered human as well. Almost every Flipside inhabitant has a counterpart in Flopside, with the counterpart having a vaguely opposite personality or interest. Their bodies come in yellow, purple, and blue colors, are geometric in shape, and some seem to lack visible arms. While the Flipside residents have square noses, the Flopside residents have pointed noses, and the residents of Yold Town and Gloam Valley do not have noses at all. Why? IDK. But i tried to give an explination seems in the first theory I made.

9⁘ Shadoo and Dimentio's background.

I think we all have the idea that somehow these two individuals are connected. Everyone has made out-of-this-world theories to explain this headcanon. I made myself a theory in the part of the Pixl Queen. But, today is a completely mystery.

I've noticed that I have many theories and parts... 

10⁘ Dark Prognosticus' creator.

Even in the game,we are explicitly shown that no one knows who was the creator of this mystical book. It was an ancient? It was a member with dark magic? It was a human? Nobody knows...

10⁘ What happened more than 3,000 years ago?

The timeline of the game begin 3,000 years ago, when the ancients created the pixls, but, Who were the tribe of ancients? What dimension did they from to? How did they discover magic? Where did they get the DP? 

And the most interesting thing about this is that, within the fandom, few ask this question. Interesting....

11⁘ The villains' background

Our entire source of information is Carson and his stories, and most of them are incomplete and do not tell details. And I think that, so far, the villain we know most of her story is Natasia, since it is emphasized throughout the entire game.

For others, their backstory is not extremely necessary to the story.

12⁘ What dimensions are Flipside and Flopside between?

Another intersting question, because, Merlon say us in the start of the game that Flipside is not a dimension because are BETWEEN dimension. But what dimensions are Flipside and Flopside between? Are they in two differents dimensions? One of these dimensions are the real world? Or, are they between ALL dimentions? We'd better know.

13⁘ There's more pixls? Why the original pixls doesn't talk anymore?

For the first question, maybe a few pixls managed to escape the conflicts and live scattered in other dimensions. Because, Heronicus, the person who behind Saffron's house say us, at the end of the game that he tried to find a legendary pixl, something that reinforces our theory.

And the second, The animators didn't want to work or give more prominence to Mario's partners to focus on the incredible story? Improbably. There is probably another more elaborate explanation.

14⁘ When the ancients mix with humans?

Let's remember that some humans are descendantsof those and viceversa.

15⁘ Mimi's a robot?

And finally, the last point (I wish it were so), Mimi's a Robot? Terminator 3000?The only thing Carson explains to us are MORE theories that it could be Mimi. A witch's mistake? A failed pixl? And to top it all off, he also tells us that Mimi doesn't remember much. Dang it!

The only clue we have is that, in the sprits in the game, and when we flip to 3D and fight her ORIGINAL creepy spider form, there are traces of gears like those of a machine. If you want to theorize, go ahead.

And that's all the plot holes I've found. Surely (and sadly) there are more, so I invite you to include all the ones you remember, I'm out.

Both of the jesters were getting on your nerves today.

One of them– the impish one with a tail, was currently eating your cereal that you just poured out for yourself not even ten seconds ago, and the other one– a manipulative little twink, was trying to get you to buy him an expensive set of playing cards he found in some magazine. 

“No,” you told Dimentio firmly. “I don’t care that they’re made of metal– it’s sixty whole coins! And you–” you pointed at Jevil. “Quit eating my cereal!”

Jevil’s tail swayed back and forth as he sat on the kitchen’s countertop, spoon in his mouth. He gave you a smile before responding with his mouth full of cereal. “I can do anyf’ing, anything!”

“Not in this house you ain’t,” you hissed, throwing a balled-up paper towel at him. “Go get your own cereal! You don’t even like that kind! And– And quit talking with your mouth full!”

“I do’t care ah-t all, at all!” His tail swayed more, as if he was proud of himself. 

You eyed him. “You’ll care when I shove my foot up your ass,” you grumbled, shuffling over to the fridge and opening it, no longer wanting cereal.

…Dimentio slooowly peered over your shoulder. “So like a bee ready to strike, are you sure you don’t want to get me that card set?”

“I’m sure,” you huffed. “And I thought you were going to meet with that little gumball guy?”

“Marx?” Dimentio pouted. “We-ell, he’s in jail.”

“...Jail?” You looked over your shoulder to stare at him. “Why?”

“Ooh, well, you knooow,” he waved a casual hand. “Trying to kill people, as per usual.”

You rolled your eyes, eventually closing the fridge. No breakfast for you. “You should find better friends.”

He giggled, leaning in to smooch your cheek. “Why find ‘better’ friends when I have yooou, my dear?”

“And muh-e!” Jevil chimed with a mouth full of food.

“...And you,” he pouted again, briefly eyeing him.

You rubbed your face tiredly. “Let’s go to the store in a bit. I need to lay down for a minute,” you said, going over to the living room to flop down onto the couch tiredly. You really needed a nap of some kind…

After a solid minute, you felt a certain impish jester crawl onto your back, laying on top of you as if he was a plank of wood. 

“Jevil,” you mumbled, your voice coming out muffled. “Whatchu doin’...?”

“Sleeping, sleeping.”

“Mkay.”

After a bit longer, a blanket was laid atop of both you and Jevil, a figure sitting on the arm rest. “I shall watch over you two,” Dimentio said with a smile.

“How come you always watch me sleep?” You asked, keeping your face pressed against the couch.

“To make sure you’re safe, of course! Jevil does it too.”

“I do, I do!”

You rolled your eyes, though couldn’t help but smile a little. Letting your eyes close, you got comfortable to the best of your ability, slowly drifting off into dreamland.

Haven’t played those games yet. If I start drawing new characters from any Mario game, you’ll know xD.

Peach getting possessed is the one and only spoiler I have from TTYD, but I’m also side eying this particular Ghost character who’s name I don’t know because it’s a spoiler from what I’ve been told. Why do I get the feeling that character is TTYD’s equivalent to Dimentio???

I really want to find a copy of Dream Team. Just the art and the soundtrack alone makes me think it’s going to end up being my favourite Mario and Luigi game. Not just because Luigi is the main star though. I know Antasma is a bat thing, so I like to think that maybe he is the same thing that Nastasia is (her backstory shows that she is a bat lady)

Olly is that one guy from Oragami King, right? I’ll work my way to it when I get the chance. If I play too many games all at once, I’ll get overwhelmed 😅. The only thing that worries me about that game is that everyone started crying about this Bomb-omb character when I asked. Yeesh. Never ask who a character is in a Paper Mario game. Lesson learned 😭.

Misconceptions I had about Super Paper Mario when I was a kid

I played the game as a kid. A wee lad, if you will. I know there is some dialogue that debunks some of it, but I either forgot that stuff or my kid brain completely skipped over it. And when the art style is so geometric, it's not hard to misunderstand the art. Here we go:

I'll start with Dimentio because he's real popular with tumblr. I thought he was a woman

I also thought the ends of his poncho were his arms,

as drawn here.

I thought the text at the end of 4-4 meant that Squirps fucking died (Text squished together so I can fit the pic limit)

But nope! You can find him after completing the game at the end of the Woah Zone

I thought the collar of Bleck's cape was hair

I thought Grambi and Jaydes were divorced💀. Yknow, living seperately, their daughter having to travel between them. You can't blame me, my parents were going through a divorce

I thought Francis' ponytail was like... a bandana end? Or like the tie to a ninja mask? Idk man. I just didn't think it was hair

I thought Merlon's pendant thingy was his mouth. I still can't unsee it💀

I thought Thoreau's "fingers" were his hair and he had an afro. I honestly didn't get that he was hand-shaped

I really love your fanfic and that got me thinking, does chaos luigi gets very protective (when dimentio is not in control) of mario when he's really in danger like example: king boo trying to capture mario again?

And yes! He does get rather protective. It's only understandable when they haven't seen eachother for so long. Being separated again is the last thing he would want.

Not sure about King Boo though hm. The AU is mostly based on the Paper Mario series and I don't think he exists there (yet) so... I might branch out to the main series we'll see. But I understand what you're saying!

If Mario finds himself in life threatening danger, Luigi makes sure the opponent gets obliterated. The self-proclaimed 'King of all Worlds' won't allow for any harm towards his brother, especially now.
