New Characters for DCCW, 2018-2019
A compilation of the known castings (regular and recurring) for this season, including recurring cast members from last season who got upgraded. This doesn’t include rumoured roles that haven’t been cast yet. If it doesn’t say they’re recurring, they’re probably a regular.
Flash
Danielle Nicolet (Cecile), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Nora), and Hartley Sawyer (Ralph) have been promoted to series regulars.
Jul 21- Chris Klein (American Pie) as Cicada, a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans. Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.
Aug 9- Kiana Madeira (Sacred Lies) as Spencer Young, aka Spin, a young aspiring social media influencer who seizes the opportunity to make herself famous when she discovers there is a new hero in Central City. This recurring character will be introduced in episode #504, and is a genderbend of the existing DC comics character, Auerbach.
Aug 24- Troy James (America’s Got Talent) will guest star as Peter Merkel, aka the contortionist supervillain Rag Doll. Not pictured below.
Tumblr media
 Supergirl
Jesse Rath (Brainy) has been promoted to series regular.
Jul 17- Sam Witwer (Being Human) as Agent Liberty (Ben Lockwood), the charismatic — and, of course, deeply evil — founder of Children of Liberty, an anti-alien hate group dedicated to establishing humans as the superior race. He conceals his vile nature in the guise of a family man, making it all the more difficult to take him down.
Jul 21- Nicole Maines (Royal Pains) as Nia Nal, the newest addition to the CatCo reporting team. A soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others, Nia’s journey this season means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer.
April Parker Jones (Jericho) as Colonel Haley, a hardline career military woman who lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers. Dedicated to her country, she always acts in its best interest — even if it’s not her own.
David Ajala (Dr. Who) as Manchester Black, the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner. With a dark past, he easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor. This is a recurring role.
Jul 27- Rhona Mitra (The Last Ship) as Mercy Graves, an ex-CADMUS agent who has always believed in human exceptionalism. But with both Lex and Lillian in prison, Mercy is stepping out of the Luthor shadow and running her own show. With her biting wit and lethal brawn, Mercy steadily becomes a key figure in National City’s growing “human-first” movement. This is a recurring role.
Robert Baker (Grey’s Anatomy) as Otis Graves, is Mercy’s brother and defacto right hand man. What he lacks in brains, he makes up for with his savant-like abilities to assassinate aliens. This is a recurring role.
Aug 21- Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5) as Vice President Baker. Adept and politically minded, VP Baker makes for an unlikely leader, but steps up in a big way when his country needs him most. This is a recurring role.
on Aug 1 it was announced that Brent Spiner (Star Trek: TNG) would play the role; however it was later recast due to family issues that conflicted with production (it is Spiner featured in the picture below)
Aug 24- Anthony Knoechny (Almost Human) will recur, starting with the season premiere, as Agent Jensen, a DEO agent recruited by Alex who struggles to find his footing at the agency. (not pictured below)
Sep 14- Xander Berkeley (Nikita) will guest star as Peter Lockwood, the father of Ben, a family man who’s dedicated his life to providing for people. (not pictured below)
Sep 17- Sarah Smyth (50/50) will recur as Lydia Lockwood, the wife of Ben. (not pictured below)

 Arrow
Colton Haynes (Roy) has returned as a series regular.
Kirk Acevedo (Dragon) was promoted to a series regular after recurring in season 6. News released Oct 11. (not pictured below)
Jul 21- Holly Elissa (Whistler) as Red Dart, a ruthless and precise killer.
Michael Jonsson (Van Helsing) as Kodiak, a beast of a man with brute force.
Miranda Edwards (The Magicians) as Silencer, a master of stealth.
Sep 21- Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters) as Maya, a scrappy street fighter and thief from Star City, likened to “Buffy the Superhero Slayer.” Possibly inspired, like Thea, by Mia Dearden/ Speedy. (not pictured below)
Tumblr media
 Legends of Tomorrow
Matt Ryan (Constantine), Jes Macallan (Ava), and Courtney Ford (Nora Darhk) have been promoted to regulars.
Jul 21- Ramona Young (Santa Clarita Diet) as Alaska Yu, a typical twentysomething easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy novels, and she’s something of an expert in the world of the magical creatures that the Legends encounter in Season 4. In the company of the Legends, she soon learns to get her head out of the clouds to become a kickass superhero.
Tom Wilson (The Informant) as Nate’s father, Hank Heywood. With a lifetime in the military and Department of Defense, Hank is part of a long line of Heywoods to serve the country. Charming and charismatic, he’s left big shoes for Nate to fill — and it doesn’t help that Nate can’t tell him he’s secretly a Legend! This is a recurring role.
Sep 22- Darien Martin (The 100) will recur as a “wolf creature.” (not pictured below)
Tumblr media
 Black Lightning
Jordan Calloway (Khalil/ Painkiller) has been promoted to a regular.
Sep 5- Sofia Vassilieva (Medium) will appear as Looker.
Sep 21- Kearran Giovanni (Major Crimes) will recur as Cutter, a smart, proud, tough and beautiful woman more than able to best a man in combat — a mercenary trained by British intelligence.
Oct 4- Erika Alexander (Get Out) will guest star as Perenna, a therapist with telepathic abilities that works with Jennifer to help her handle her manifesting powers and the complex bundle of emotions they stir up.
Tumblr media
The Crossover: Elseworlds
Aug 7- Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) as Kate Kane/Batwoman.
Sep 14- Elizabeth Tulloch (Grimm) as intrepid journalist Lois Lane. Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as Clark Kent/ Superman alongside her.
Sep 14- Cassandra Jean Amell (One Tree Hill) as supervillain Nora Fries.
Sep 20- Jeremy Davies (American Gods) as the nefarious Dr. John Deegan, presumed by many to be based on Doctor Destiny.
Sep 26- LaMonica Garrett (The Last Ship) as The Monitor.

The Shade materializing in the Whitemore-Dugans’ kitchen once he’s learned Charles has gone to find his wife and immediately bitching to Barbara while raiding the fridge for anything alcoholic.
“I cannot believe that man! No, no, I can. This is what they’re all like, running off so they don’t have to face themselves. It’s what I get for going after closet cases. That’s it, you know? I’m swearing off married men, and I mean it this time, Barbara!” He squints at a bottle. “Do you have anything stronger than... this...?”
Meanwhile, Paula, who also dropped by uninvited, rolls her eyes toward Barbara. “He gets like this. I told him ten years ago to just kill the guy, but he never listens to me.”

I was tagged by the lovely @sophiainspace for this meme! Since I have quite a few fics on Ao3, and this is a DCTV blog, I won’t be mentioning any other fandoms (and because almost all of those are incomplete WIPs that I will likely never finish oops).
What are your 3 or 4 most underrated fanfics, that you think should be higher on your kudos/hits list? Rec them!
1. i believe we’ll (be okay), a Goldenvibe fix-it fic I wrote for the DCCW RarePair Swap this summer feat. lots of grieving over brothers and talking out feelings because god knows these two need it and deserve better.
Cisco hadn’t intended on spending the night.
2. Crash Course and Flash Bang, two fics in my Coldflash role reversal series Desperate for Changing, Starving for Truth. They kind of go hand in hand, but first is gen with implied Goldenboo beginnings based off of Flash’s Season 1 pilot and the second feat. Coldflash, Goldenboo, and the original Team Flash as Rogues.
Both are preludes to Speed Bump, which I wrote this summer as well, which you could also read but these first two have special places in my heart thanks to snark and working out the dynamics of this new “Team Flash”.
Crash Course: Apparently, deciding to wait for Lisa in her new lab minutes after the Particle Accelerator went off hadn’t been his smartest plan.
Waking up half-naked on a hospital bed in S.T.A.R. Labs and startling the hell out of the doctor on her tablet next to him were certainly not part of the plan.
Flash Bang: What was a hero without a villain, after all?
3. Your Worst Inhibitions, a Coldwestallen Psych au piece I did this summer (and which I am definitely going to be expanding upon later once Bound By Silver Tongue is nearing the end). It’s from Mick’s POV but if you love Psych like I do, or cop aus, or Leonard Snart being Highkey Dramatic At All Times... Check it out and feel free to ask for small snippets if you’d like, because who’s to say I haven’t been writing more in my spare time...
It wasn’t the strangest job Mick had ever taken (no, that prize went to the circus he had once infiltrated under Len’s lead, which they were never to speak of again) but he’d laughed his ass off initially because he thought the asshole had been kidding. It was only when he had visited the station with Len, the uncertainty in his eyes the one sign of his nerves as they walked past the skeptical cops, that he’d realized he was serious and apparently the chief wanted Len to solve their newest murder?
(Like he said, it wasn’t the strangest job he’d ever taken, but it was certainly up there in sheer ridiculousness.)
4. oceans you once crossed (now they disappear), another Coldwestallen au (this time of the 1940′s, loosely based off the musical Bandstand) I wrote over this summer. Spoilers if you’re expecting something happy because... Well, this is not. This is probably the angstiest thing I’ve ever written and despite the bittersweet ending, things aren’t happy for most of it.
So, uh, read it if you love pain. And because it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever written.
"Do you ever think about what will happen after?"
"After?"
"You know... After the war ends? When we go home?"
When. Not if. There was never an if, never a doubt in the other’s mind.
Of course, I have other fics like Bound By Silver Tongue, What Tangled Webs We Weave and Speed Bump, but these are some of my lowest hit/kudosed fics on Ao3 that are one-shots that I’ve always felt deserve more love than they got.
Tagging 10 people, without obligation: @coldflashwave-baby, @allofourkingsaredead, @plinys, @jewishgarygreen, @agentmarymargaretskitz, @nixie-deangel, @kendrasaunders, @katyakora, @lenleolenny, @barrylen

not sure how to deal with Tuesday nights anymore
I had this whole system figured out last semester--Tuesday nights were also trivia nights, so I would go to dinner, do homework, go to trivia night, and then come back at around 10:30 and watch The Flash and make my usual million posts about it. But now there’s Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday too, and I have class at 9 on Wednesdays--I probably shouldn’t be staying up as late as I will for Flash, and I definitely can’t fit LoT in without regretting it Wednesdays. But Legends is my second-favorite of the DCCW shows and I don’t want to get any spoilers from Tumblr before I watch it, but I don’t like blocking tags (and people don’t always tag anyway), and ahhh this is complicated. It worked so well when it was one a night!
Anyway. This is mostly me complaining. Classes don’t start until next week anyway, so today will be fine--I think I’ll only watch Flash tonight and Legends tomorrow; I don’t like going from shows I like more to those I like less. In general, I’ll probably just end up watching Legends sometime on Wednesday and Arrow Thursday.

DCCWTV Thoughts and Ramblings 10/9-10/12
*contains spoilers for last week's episodes*
Supergirl
Week's Ranking: 4th place
Let me start by saying, I loved last season of Supergirl. I loved it for the same reason Wonder Woman is my favorite superhero movie of all time, it shows "feminine" qualities as strengths not weaknesses. Historically socially constructed "famine" qualities have been seen as weaknesses. For instance care, compassion, humility, and mercy. The message this sends to the world is a terrible one. The world needs more of these qualities and they shouldn't be seen as exclusively feminine. These qualities should never been seen as weaknesses either. They are strengths. It's much easier to be fueled with anger, arrogance, vengeance, and revenge than it is to be fueled by care, compassion, humility, and mercy. It's high time we see more Wonder Women and Supergirls out there in the tv/movie superhero world- hopefully we also get some males superheroes with these qualities as their motivation as well.
Ok long rant over. Supergirl is usually my favorite but I did not really enjoy this episode of Supergirl. I do understand it needed to happen. Kara loved Mon El. It would be weird if Kara wasn't affected by what happened last season. So this episode needed to happen, even if it was painful to get through. I like the message of friendship getting you through tough times and helping you remember who you are. I am also pretty intrigued about the weird mental connection Kara and Mon El seem to have going. I know it might be controversial but I personally loved Mon El and want to see his character develop further.
The Flash
Week's Ranking: 3rd Place
I'm not quite sure why but The Flash is usually my least favorite of the DCCW slate. I really truly don't know why. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy it and watch it every week but it's just not my favorite. I usually watch it last. I think I would like it better if Jessie were around more. I love my strong and multi-talented women. I also completely ship Jessie and Wally.
Anyways Jessie wasn't in this episode and I can't say I liked it overall too much. I had it on in the background as I cleaned my house and it never really drew my attention in. The only storyline that seems interesting so far is Caitlin's. She has a Jekyll and Hyde situation that is pretty compelling. Killer Frost and Caitlin Snow are such different personalities it's intriguing to see who is going to win out. I also really want to know what has happened with her since last season. And what happened to Malfoy? I know he left the show but he seemed all in with her last we saw him. It would be weird if he just walked away. Ooooh maybe she accidentally killed him? That would add some dramatic layers for her.
Legends of Tomorrow
Week's Ranking: 1st Place
This show gets the win for me for best premier episode. It was so incredibly fun. Sara is such a badass. Goodness I loved her this episode. From her job at the box store to her kicking Cesar's ass in Aruba- she was just a delight. I just love how it's her and 5 guys and it's not even a question that she is their leader (side note: I love it when Rory calls her Boss).
Speaking of Rory, he was also a complete delight. No one plays lovable, lethal, drunk better than that actor. Gosh I loved him in Aruba (I loved that he made it to Aruba).
Nate is a complete idiot. He's one of those book smart guys with no street smarts. It's funny to watch. I enjoy his buffoonery. Ray can also be that way but I find it charming because he is such a handsome Hufflepuff.
I really liked that Time Official lady as a foil/frienemy. I hope we see her more.
I really want Jax to find a new other half of Firestorm because I want Martin to get to be with his family.
We need some more ladies on this team. Way too many dudes. At least their leader is a kick-ass goddess queen.
Is Snart back yet? I'll ask this every week until he is back for good.
Arrow
Week's Ranking: 2nd Place
My original favorite. My crush on Stephen Amell pretty much knows no bounds. My desire to have Emily Bett as my BFF also knows no bounds. Sorry if I offend anyone but if you haven't figured this out yet, I am total Olicity trash.
I think the producers and writers of this show finally realized that this show is at its best when Slade Wilson is in it. Season 2 will always be my favorite season and last season started finally getting back to that season 2 glory. Adrian Chase was a great villain, he is up there with Slade.
I am not into kids coming on shows. However so far William hasn't ruined anything like most kids do so I'm ok with him (for now). He adds more sweet angst for Olicity so I guess he's ok.
Speaking of Olicity, they are totally together right? They just have to take things slowly as Oliver and William get use to each other first right? I think Oliver and Felicity will get married this season- my bold prediction. I also think William will have shared custody with his grandparents and Oliver at some point so he won't cramp everyone's style (as most kids in tv shows do).
There is totally something going on with Dig and Dinah right? They have such great chemistry but it makes me feel gross because he's still married to Lila, the mother of his child (Speaking of which that kid hasn't ruined anything so I guess not all tv kids are the worst). I wonder where the writers are going with this- it's making me nervous.
I love Mr. Terrific. I want him to be my BFF (along with Emily Bett). I wouldn't mind him joining Legends to give him more screen time. although that would make the whole too many dudes problem worse).
I really didn't care about many other story lines. I hope Thea is alright. I want Black Siren to be the big bad cause Katie Cassidy is rocking this whole evil thing. I really hope they don't turn her good cause she is amazing at being evil. It will be interesting to see where that guy from Lost will fit into the larger story this season.
That cliff hanger was nuts right?!
This episode (and really the end of last season) gave me hope for Arrow moving forward. I stopped watching Arrow for some time but now I'm back watching and loving it.
If I feel inspired I might keep doing these every week. I think I still only have 12 followers so I'm sure no one will read this but I'll do it for me- to express my nerdiness.

I love many things about the new Zsasz in Batwoman, but perhaps most of all the implication that many of his targets end up being people’s shitty exes and cheating partners.
It’s likely a result of good word-of-mouth, but I can also only too easily imagine this man being like, “I’m going to combine my love of murder and of getting needlessly involved in other people’s drama and make mad stacks of cash.”

Not even a shoutout to Kara though huh? Clark was in the Supergirl pilot. The whole intro was how her cousin got to Earth first and became Superman, and she couldn't even getting a little mention in S&L?? These versions of Clark and Lois were introduced on Supergirl for crying out loud, and they wouldn't even have this show if it wasn't for that, and the Girl of Steel still got the cold shoulder?? I see how it is

So this Captain Luthor is from a different universe. Is he from the current multiverse or the previous one? Also, I wonder if Jordan's powers only work when he's with his brother?
