Debaser by D.S. & Durga: Midgar shuffle
…don’t know about you, but I am un CHIEN! Andalusien! --Black Francis
I picked up a number of samples by the indie perfumer D.S. & Durga, including “Steamed Rainbow,” “Deep Dark Vanilla,” “Pistachio,” and this one. Debaser is my favorite so far.
Online reviews are mixed. The famous and eloquent Kafkaesque likes this, but argues an incongruity in its name; while Debaser cites the 1989 Pixies tune, the Black Francis screech is nowhere to be found in this pleasant, fig-based fragrance, powdered with a little iris, warmed up with tonka and coconut, sweetened with pear, and something slightly spicy and woody underneath. Other reviewers have taken up this theme, confused by the edgy name, complaining, even, about false advertising. Many allusions to green accords, garden wanders, fresh meadows, and so forth; all the traditional imagery of the mainstream mind as it seeks an exit from the ordinary.
I smell these described notes, certainly—the milky fig, the coconut, not too sweet but very present; the bassy tonka, the blonde wood, the iris and the moss all cutting through the lactones and preventing them from getting insipid.
But I am not transported to a bosky grove or dew-laden meadow: this fragrance is no portal to Narnia.
It's a little like one of those reversible pictures--a goose one way, an old lady another; if you focus too much on the fig and all its lacy green assumptions, you miss the city.
Because the thing is I get a very specific hit of leather jacket—no, vinyl… no, leather after all, a biker jacket, nice and bulky, the kind you wear as armor for the subway. The jacket you wear as you stand in the corner of the mechanics’ garage when your moto goes tits-up. The one you have on as you chew on a pear-flavored hard candy, lounging, inconspicuous, waiting for that guy on your docket--the dumb one, the weak link--to come out of the liquor store and lead you to your real quarry.
The one you wear when even the rain feels dirty.
The longer I had Debaser on, the more the affect crystallized: it’s Midgar, buddy. If this name means nothing to you, don’t worry. Just drop in the degraded urban environment of your choice, but fill it with the joy and optimism peculiar to that space, the joy of catching the last train, the joy of spicy red oil noodles, the joy of sarcastic jokes with your partner in crime.
For friends of mine who know where Midgar is—thus what I mean by citing it—I should warn you that depending on your skin chemistry, you may have to traverse an astonishing amount of coconut before the leather jacket, the train, the slanting light all come out to play. You may also find the pear alienating. Me, I like it; it’s artificial, but it’s not pretending. You keep the little tin of those little pear-flavored jewels in the pocket of that leather jacket and you watch the sun track across the hoardings as you listen to the buskers, taking your time.
It’s a good day.

141 and their Fragrances
I am a perfume junkie so I have authority on this. I mostly went by brand and then chose their signature scent from that.
Price
He is a D.S & Durga man. Bottles look simple, just masculine enough without being over powering but also not afraid of being a little floral. Kate recommended the brand because she hated his normal cologne. His signature scent is Burning Barbershop with top notes of spearmint, lime and spruce. Heart notes of lavender absoulte, tuberrose and turkish rose. Base notes of Vaniila, burnt oil and hay. He also likes Radio Bombay (woody, copper) as a date scent and Leatherize (leather, floral) for sex.
Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick
Kyle (In my headcanon) is a film buff so of course he would be drawn to Vilhelm Parfumerie's Basilico & Fellini by name alone. Kyle likes fresh, green scents so with notes of dragon fruit, basil, violet, wild fig, vetiver and green hay he was sold. He also loves the cheeky names of Body Paint (fruity), Morning Chess (green) and London Funk (woody). Takes a lot of pride in having a variety of scents so mostly travel sizes.
Johnny 'Soap' Mactavish
After being told (multiple times) by his sister that he had to move on from the cheap body spray of his youth. He found Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene and bought it from looks alone. He ended up really liking the earl grey gourmand scent. He does admittedly like how rugged the bottles look compared to the scent. He's not a collector like the others but does also have Blackmail (Sweet Fruity) and Winter of 99 (Spicy Vanilla).
Simon 'Ghost' Riley
Simon of course loves musky, animalistic and even downright weird scents. Off duty he wants his smell to stick around after him. Something that makes people a little on edge around him. He also has a sense of humor so Fantomas by Nasomatto is his day to day off duty with notes of rubber, plastic, melon, smoke, gunpowder, candy, earth and patchouli. It's weird and a little off putting but at least no one will ask what he's wearing. He also likes Duro (spicy, animalistic) from the same brand but he only wears that when he's out with Johnny a date.

✨🍼🍯 please?
HI! (And because you said please, of course!)
✨- which fictional character (book, show, or movie) do you relate to most? Just one? JUST ONE? (I'm not going to say a RWRB character because it's very very easy for me to relate a lot to Henry's mental health struggles and Alex's too-much-ness, so just know that.) It's going to have to be Adam Parrish from the Raven Cycle series. He has insane ambition and drive, with a headstrong, single-minded focus on getting out of his hometown and reinventing himself because his life, objectively, is not great. (He's messy and complicated and lovely; everyone should love Adam.) And there was a time when I was exactly the same: I moved across the country to get out of where I grew up, and I worked multiple small jobs to pay for grad school and internships to look good on my resume. I was broke, exhausted, and constantly feeling behind. This was my dream! Getting out! But once I was here, I didn't feel like myself either. It took a long time to figure out what makes me happy (just like it does for Adam over the course of the books), and I feel an innate kinship to that bitchy asshole. One of my favorite quotes from him is: “I don’t know if I hate it here or if I hate that I don’t love it. I was supposed to love it. But I want to go—I think about it every day, just getting on the bike and going, and going, but where?”
🍼- what is your favorite memory? I have so many! But weirdly the first one that comes to mind is a time I was at an Airbnb on a rehab farm, and the owner asked if we wanted to help medicate the goats. And here's me, wrangling a goat, trying to get a syringe in its mouth and the owner, supervising, says "be careful, they've broken syringes with their mouths before, and the syringes are about the same size as a finger." Core memory. Core fear. 🍯- describe your favorite smell Ohhhhh! I like spicy & earthy smells. I like deep vanillas (not sweet ones) or ~sensual ambers, or anything that has like woodsy scents. Love a good pink peppercorn. My favorite (but expensive) perfume is Orto Parisi's Terroni, which was sold to me as smelling like a sexy volcano. I'm also a fan of D.S. and Durga's Bowmakers (not for everyone; it's very resiny, but I'm obsessed) and Amber Kiso. And a staple is Replica By the Fireplace. (I'm not made of money though, so I gotta stick with dupes or ask for as gifts, tbh) Now you know too much about how I SMELL. [some sweet and pure asks!]

2024: A Perfume Odyssey
For anyone who might possibly be reading this, it's not entirely accurate of me to say that my fragrance journey began in 2024. It really began the previous year through a combination of curiosity and boredom, and had its origins in my last trip to France, which was in 2017.
I went with 2024 because in March I took my first trip abroad since France, this time to Italy, and I was positively inundated with fragrance during the two weeks I spent there. Milan was the city of oud and other opulent odors, while Venice, Florence and Rome strayed more into floral and fruity territory, but all throughout I was delighted by the world of scents (and flavors) I had so newly (re)discovered.
After returning home, I flipped through my "library" of fragrances and found something lacking. For me, trying out a scent is like selecting an accessory to go with an outfit, or being briefly transported to a different dimension accessed by sense memory. I'd acquired a few of each over the years--notably Frédéric Malle Outrageous in travel size and Tokyomilk Everything & Nothing in full size--but most of the samples I'd ordered through the mail fell short of what I wanted them to be.
Full disclosure: my initial buying choices last year may have been influenced by an ASMRtist on YouTube and a movie star with a mission to create "clean" unisex fragrances. The results were entertaining if not as satisfying as I'd hoped. English-born Penhaligon's yielded some fun origin stories like Hammam Bouquet (Oscar Wilde's fragrance of choice apparently) and Blenheim Bouquet (Winston Churchill's), but few felt like something I would actually want to wear more than once or twice. I'm not drawn to most stronger scents like vanilla or patchouli, and I tend to be selective with florals or anything that smells like it came out of a magazine ad.
In Italy I smelled many things, including Véronique Gabai and Goutal Paris and Diptyche and Santa Maria Novella (referenced in the latest Ripley series on Netflix), but the only fragrance I brought home was VG Sexy Garrigue, which to me smells like being gently submerged in a honey bath on a sunlit afternoon. It carries just a whisper of oud, reminding me of the city where I found it, Milan, without feeling drowned by it. A transportive scent par excellence that also serves perfectly well as an accessory.
In contrast, there's D.S. & Durga. I'd become aware of this niche New York-based boutique fragrance power couple after being gifted a Spirit Lamp-scented candle a few years ago, but it wasn't until I'd returned from Italy that I finally took the plunge and ordered some samples from them.
I started with a four-pack comprised of I Don't Know What, Cowboy Grass, Sweet Do Nothing, and Amber Kiso. Based on the many reviews I'd read, these were some of the OGs mixed with more recent additions, but nothing prepared me for what I would experience upon spraying each for the first time.
(On second thought, I wouldn't say I was entirely unprepared. I'd been inhaling Spirit Lamp for a while after all--a delicious milky-sweet delicacy with underlying hints of metal and musk--and it has been designated the "sex candle" in our household 🤭).
I Don't Know What (a literal English translation of je ne sais quoi) is more or less as described: a woodsy framework meant to be layered and built upon, or otherwise lending a subtle glow to one's natural body scent. I found that it layered well with one of the fragrances I'd sampled last year, and I will likely add them both to my wishlist.
Cowboy Grass was a surprise. Not as transportive as I'd been led to believe (whoever is behind the marketing team at DS&D is a genius), but it grew on me as it revealed notes both leathery and sweet, like a warm breeze wafting through an open-air market in the desert. OK, so maybe that last sentence reveals it to be more transportive than my initial impression made it out to be. It doesn't evoke either cowboys or grass in my mind, but I could picture someone like Curt Wild wearing it, which makes it even more appealing to me.
Amber Kiso, on the other hand, was deeply transportive. I tried it for the first time right before settling into a long meditation session and felt like I'd been whisked away to a holy forest, or possibly a monastery in the Himalayas. A bit too strong in the amber department to wear regularly, but I will be bringing it out whenever I want to experience it just for myself and be transported again.
Sweet Do Nothing was as advertised, heavy on the orange blossom and evoking a casual summery spirit. There are certain true floral scents that I will tolerate, orange blossom and rose among them, and I will likely continue to spritz this one on through the summer without feeling a need to buy more.
In summary, D.S. & Durga is the most varied adventure in fragrancy I've had yet, and it's going to be a struggle to prevent myself from ordering yet more samples from them this year. 😩 Which brings me to my final confession: I caved in to a promotional deal with FragranceNet.com this week.
It wasn't entirely out of the blue because I'd been longing after a couple of Goutal Paris fragrances sampled in Italy, and I was thrilled to find a travel-sized Eau d'Hadrien for a very affordable price. I justified the rest of my purchases as either birthday gifts (Tea Rose for the mom and Burberry for the fiancé) or low-stakes forays into other realms of scent I hadn't experienced before.
I think I've amassed enough of a collection at this point to satisfy this particular itch for the rest of the season at least--Eau d'Hadrien especially was made for the heat of summer, with its ginger-sharp edges and sweet heart that could fit the likes of Arthur Stuart--but I don't believe it's the last time I will be waxing lyrical about olfactory matters, nor do I want it to be. 💋

...𝐈𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 &𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬. (𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝.)
[ This is strictly based on my opinion and thoughts, none of these have been confirmed by any member, staff, or anyone else! ]
𝐀/𝐍.: However if any of these would actually turn out to be true in the future — kinda doubt it but still — I will declare myself as a professional manifester lmao. And I will have my 'called it' moment too.
; 𝐒𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭!
[𝐊!]
TOP PICK • Dior Eau Sauvage; Truly the best of Dior, this fits K like a glove! Best-loved fragrance by far, and it has so much in it, so versatile, a bit of everything intriguing; vanilla, bergamot, amber, and of course, woods. The scent depends on what you want it to smell like, at certain times of the day. K would wear this with great elegance and confidence. This perfume is such an all-rounder, a pleaser for everyone included, he would totally enamor any crowd and audience with this!
HONORABLE MENTION • Chanel Bleu de Chanel; a fan-favorite oldsport scent but it would be a shame to call it grandfatherly — it's anything but that! It delicately embraces masculinity with a fresh, clear, green, woodsy aroma before turning it into a bright burst of citruses, empowering one's confidence. It stays on for quite long, not even a sweaty dance practice can make it go away! Entrust this to K as a second choice, he would greatly wear it for a cooler autumn day to show off his charm!
[𝐅𝐔𝐌𝐀!]
TOP PICK • Ralph Lauren Polo by Ralph Lauren Cologne for Men; This is a classic, sleek, smooth, and has been a favorite for decades around men, rightfully so. It has a lot of spin-offs, true, but nothing compares to the original mix of wood, tobacco, and leather feel. They say it comes with a tinge of American nostalgia but let the wearer decide that. It's a strong scent for Fuma every day, but when you come to realize how much it suits him you'll miss the aroma tickling your nose whenever you're near him, so anyone who asks him to change his cologne probably hasn't been around him for long enough. But luckily Fuma trusts his judgement and knows this is a killer combo!
HONORABLE MENTION • D.S. & Durga Bowmakers; It was hard to choose between these two which matches Fuma better, but it came down to this. I'd say this is better for special occasions, in the end, this combination can be too extra for ordinary days, sometimes you just wouldn't be able to handle it, just like Fuma himself! It's outdoorsy, woody, with hints of maple, cedar, even cypress, and mahogany... which makes me remember a lumberjack but it's a pleasant scent nonetheless! Maybe during a walk outside it can lift the mood, but definitely not inside.
[𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐒!]
TOP PICK • Aramis Eau De Toilette; One of the longest-lasting ones on the list, but it's to be expected from Nicholas. But this staying time is because of strong fragrance notes, such as; starting with bergamot, then myrtle, sage, and pepper so it can morph into a spicy, musky intoxicating aroma packed further with clove bud and patchouli too. If Nicholas is on the line, it has to be extra and demanding, attention-demanding and he does it so well, honestly. The base has a bit of sandalwood, as well as vetiver and oakmoss, so all-in-all this perfume boasts such a presence behind it that projects self-confidence at all times.
HONORABLE MENTION • Le Labo AnOther 13 Eau de Parfum; If it's about Nicholas he has to go for it hard, again, overdoing and provoking everyone's expectations with a scent like this because no one will compare to this perfume! It's intoxicating in a good way, you want nothing else just to smell it until it's gone to try and decipher the cologne's components. Mysterious, but loud and clear! Putting heavy emphasis on the musky feeling here, mixed with traces of jasmine, a feeling of moss from the woods — you just want to feel it, touch it, devour this crazy combination! It will have you coming back very soon; either for Nicholas himself, or just another spritz from the perfume bottle.
[𝐄𝐉!]
TOP PICK • Gucci Guilty Pour Homme; Don't judge a book by its cover! The bottle is very simple and sophisticated but the scent can bring some surprises. Very citrusy, fruity, and sweet-smelling with the lavender and orange blossom additions! A perfect combination of comfort and adventure in just one sniff. EJ is the sweetest in all aspects so it felt right giving him something like this! You feel like you're in a beautiful flower field while enjoying some rare tropical fruits, a never-ending sugary feeling flows through you and the only thing left from the picture is Euijoo himself. He would wear this with great confidence!
HONORABLE MENTION • BOUTONNIÈRE NO. 7; Living and thriving proof that floral scent on men can be good, especially for EJ! True gardenia being the main element of flowers set against a strong string of citruses and lavender, this cologne is a walking garden of surprises. Instead of allergies, it brings clearness and joy, and of course, Euijoo! Perhaps he would be hesitant at first, wouldn't even think about discovering something like this on the perfume aisle but make him believe in the sheer magic of men wearing strong floral scents with a fancy shirt, it's a sight to look at!
[𝐘𝐔𝐌𝐀!]
TOP PICK • Burberry Mr. Burberry Indigo; It's bold, it basically speaks for Yuma! I honestly think this is my best match-up, I don't know why, but I'm just really feeling the vibes with this one. It has such a wild range of audiences for admiration; because of its crispness, and evergreen combination of strong citrus at first, then dying down to a pleasant blend of rosemary, violet, and some amber it's an extraordinary choice for everyday use. But Yuma would love this!
HONORABLE MENTION • Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver; I admit this choice may differ from the first one a bit too much but I can imagine this on Yuma on a late night out, attracting stares and looks, left and right with this captivating perfume. It's an interesting combo; very verdant, delicate orange-scented original, then it takes it up a notch with a harsh punch of Sichuan pepper! Too spicy for everyday use, this is more of a once-in-a-while-scented bottle of surprise, with the exciting fruitfulness of a new adventure on the horizon! Yuma would rock this on his own, I'm sure!
[𝐉𝐎!]
TOP PICK • Heretic Dirty Grass Eau de Parfum; The name is a bit weird but it's an absolute natural, earthy, green scent with a dash of oil in it, and some juicy lemon to add a smidge of flavor and interest to the wearer, but otherwise it's perfect for business-casual, and all-time-casual occasions. You might only smell it if you're very close to Jo, and even then you feel like questioning your senses, but it makes you embark on a bigger, longer journey on finding out Jo's secret, so it's definitely a win. You'll surely want to taste more than just a spritz of the cologne!
HONORABLE MENTION • Acqua Di Gio From Giorgio Armani; Great for the daytime in any hot weather! Incredibly natural scented light perfume; its watery, citrusy, and even more mysterious aroma makes you question if anything's present on your body while wearing it. Far from fancy, it brings out the best when one wants to seem effortlessly put-together and this inoffensive scent is the icing on the cake for Jo's laid-back persona!
[𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐔𝐀!]
TOP PICK • Jo Malone Black Cedarwood & Juniper Cologne; This is a polished, perfected, deep scent. It's cool, makes the wearer calm and collected with its earthy cedar — you already know this is a reoccurring theme —, juniper berry to ease the mind, and a touch of cumin and surprisingly, chili! Perhaps a bit spicier in the end than you would like, but surely unforgettable and outstanding, matching Harua's talent and visuals!
HONORABLE MENTIONS • Tiffany & Co Tiffany & Love Eau de Toilette for Him; the definition of fresh, cool, and airy smell, very light and natural by carrying both the refreshing scent of woods and the sky together. Combined with a couple of intricate fruits and blue sequoia — which can be found in Tiffany & Love for Her, basically the perfect pair for this cologne! All in all, it's a perfect second choice for Harua and his calm, collected, and endearing persona!
[𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐈!]
TOP PICK • Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Cipresso di Toscana; This was one of the hardest that I had to look after the most, but now I'm confident! This screams holidays, fun, and the fresh feeling of seawater with a bit of salty aftertaste. Cypress, balsam, and pine blend all with bitter orange and lavender, creating a refreshing repackage of an Italian countryside! It felt so right for Taki, it just made me remember his bright smile, so summer crush feels it is!
HONORABLE MENTION • Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle Bigrade Concentrée Parfum Spray; transparent and fresh but nothing like an ordinary scent! Zesty and delicious with orange and light traces of rose, but down-to-earth mixed with spice by the additional taste of hay and cardamom. Adds such an unforgettable extra flavor, the way you'll never miss Taki's outstanding skills and personality in any video-filmed content!
[𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈!]
TOP PICK • Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille; It radiates warmth and calmness, a spark of sympathy, without being outdated — this scent is forever! This is another one where you'll probably want to go back to have another sniff from the perfume bottle but Maki's got you! When he's covered in this — most days — a hug is sure to come your way any time during the day! It's spicy, but not in a heavy way, just the right amount! And if you stick around too much, maybe another hug is bound to find you!
HONORABLE MENTION • Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme; Another sunny scent, for another sunshine of the group! A lot of citrus notes; mandarin, bergamot, and grapefruit but still a bit earth-bound with a whiff of rosewood and musk, maybe a tinge of juniper in there. It's that feeling when you're on holiday and you're in your hotel, away from the sea, but you can still feel it on you; yet you're surrounded by a man-made environment. Also, I can totally imagine these slightly stronger, woodier scents for Maki, I think it would make him stand out even more!
[ I spent too much time on this, but it was fun! Also, try to pass by my weird edits, I just wanted to include them in a way so everybody can see them and matches the aesthetic of my profile. They look funny, but it gets the job done! ]

MDZS Characters & Their Perfumes
Wei Wuxian: Obviously, he doesn't care about fragrance! He's not like other young masters! Jiang Cheng, can you IMAGINE spending money on flavored water? LOL. LMAO, even. Haha have you ever noticed that guy always smells really good for some reason?
Jiang Cheng: Has an extensive collection of perfumes with lotus notes that he can't wear around Wei Wuxian without being mocked, but his daily fragrance is D.S. & Durga I Don't Know What.
Jiang Yanli: Kilian Love, don't be shy. Sweetness to encourage longer hugs.
Lan Wangji: Le Labo Santal 33. Only Le Labo Santal 33.
Jin Zixuan: Creed Aventus. He has EVERY batch and multiples of his favorite batch. When he feels zesty, he goes pineapple-heavy; when he's sad, he uses the flat, reformulated batches. One time, an almost-empty bottle of his favorite batch broke, and he mourned it like an old friend.
Wen Chao: Dior Sauvage Elixir. Yeah, he knows you can smell him from ten meters away. You're welcome.
Wang Lingjiao: Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif! Because she's THAT GIRL!!
Wen Qing: Chanel No. 5. It's a classic for a reason.
Wen Ning: Tom Ford Ebene Fume... He just likes it...
Wen Zhuliu: It seems like Wen Zhuliu is pretending he can't hear or see us. Maybe we should ask later?
Jin Ling: Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540. Yes, he's a flower boy, but he's complex!!
Lan Sizhui: Escentric Molecule 01 + Guaic Wood. The sandalwood reminds him of Lan Wangji, and the warm, smoky guaiac wood just feels comforting...
Lan Jingyi: Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous. No, Lan-laoshi, he's not breaking the rules; he's answering your question!
Ouyang Zizhen: Xerjoff 1861 Naxos. Isn't it romantic? Doesn't it simply make you want to cuddle up with someone you love? Yes, of course he needs to smell delicious on a night hunt, Jingyi! One never knows when one will find true love!!
Jin Guangyao: Initio Blessed Baraka. Gold, gold, gold.
Lan Xichen: Amouage Lyric. No matter what sweetness he shows on the surface, it all comes down to a base of incense and wood.
Nie Mingjue: Oh, no, that's just how he smells. ("Bvlgari Tygar," Jin Guangyao mouths from his side.)
Nie Huaisang: Why do you ask? Are you going to tell da-ge? No?? Well, okay! *opens a hidden door* Here's my beautiful, BEAUTIFUL collection, and if you have a few hours, I can tell you about each one! 💖

D.S. & DURGA - DEEP DARK VANILLA - Eau de Parfum -
Hyped up by this vanilla. A warm melody lost into darkness. A mysterious place still undiscovered, where nature is motherly and joyful, eternal protagonist of my playful enthusiasm. An endless flow of energy.
...
In profumerie selezionate.

What’s the vibe? #35
News:
Sarah Burton is leaving Alexander McQueen at the end of this month. End of an era!!
New York Fashion Week just passed, sorry will be running through the good looks another time - terms to think about. Flaneur-core with a side of intellectualism (Helmut Lang, Proenza Scholar), princess at work/Practical princess (Sandy Liang, Mirror Palais), "In-Dario-Argento-World" - slick, but saturated colours (Coach). Earth Child rave (Collina Strada, Eckhaus Latta).
Design Director at Prada and Miu Miu Fabio Zambernardi, has decided to leave the Prada Group after approx 40 years (since 1981) at the company. What could the future of both of those brands hold? What would it look like if Miuccia retired?
Ezra Collective won the Mercury Prize 2023.
Coco Gauff won the US Open 2023!! Woop! Love the New Balance 2 piece also - she won in the red version.
There's been a lot of climate related events in the world - Morocco earthquake, Greece/China flooding, heatwaves in the Western Hemisphere in September - I really can't imagine that people will continue to ignore it when it happens every summer now. I do think we need to adapt quickly - in natural ways (modifying houses and buildings for air, doing less, finding ways to cool our bodies etc) and younger people will be speaking up about it (even during the US Open women single semi final!) or finding orgs that align with sustainable lifestyles. This might be jarring for a while but honestly....we need to get everyone on board and find ways to make sustainability sexy and engage with the masses.
Also related: If people are avoiding outdoors, what healthy activities can they do indoors? (That isn't doom scrolling.)
For NYFW, Chanel created "Lucky Chance Diner", a food popup to celebrate the launch of CHANCE EAU FRAÎCHE, their new Eau de Parfum. This diner also serves ice cream and lasts from the 8-10th September.

Made me think about how many people may just travel to meet their friends, or travel with friends and this becomes a convenient travel companion. This is also related to the flux and movement of people within the city. It's a screen that's easy to pack away in case of (unstable) housing which many young people in the UK live in due to lack of rent controls. Bit of a conceptual reach but definitely designed for easy packing.
