oc: Winlyn, Imperial, TESV Skyrim

An Imperial scholar from Cyrodiil dedicated to Dwarven history. She traveled to Skyrim to advance her research on Dwemer technology and society.

She would eventually fashion a Dwemer prosthetic arm and hire Sulana as a bodyguard, but the two would later be separated for reasons unknown to Winlyn. She believes Sulana simply abandoned her, breaking her heart.

off-topic, but my friends always tell me that all my Skyrim ocs look the same in-game and now I try really hard to make them distinct from one another 😅

Anyway, this is my Imperial oc Winlyn! She is also basically my way to explore my Dwemer lore obsession (srsly where did the fuckers go!!!) She is also just a historian in general tho, so she'll dig up anything.

In my canon, she traveled with my other oc, Sulana, for some time.

Lore:

A historian from Cyrodiil focusing on Dwemer culture and technology for her graduate research. She's merely the daughter of humble bakers, but her passionate drive for scholarly pursuits granted her many opportunities for scholarly sponsorships. Despite her upbringing, the environment of scholars in the Imperial Capital caused her to mask her personality, making her come off as rather anti-social. That is, unless she starts rambling about her research.

She left Cyrodiil for Skyrim in order to advance her Dwarven research. While exploring one such ruin, her and her bodyguard companions were overwhelmed by the animonculi inside. They made a break for it, but only she survived to leave the ruins. She would run into the bounty hunter Sulana during her escape, who insisted she could clear the ruins for her.

After a vicious adventure in the ruins, Sulana lost an arm, but the ruins were cleared for investigation. Winlyn fashioned her a dwemer mechanical arm to thank her, and asked that they remain together while she completes her research. They became close during their time together.

As they explored a ruin together, a cave-in caused them to get separated. Winlyn was trapped under the rubble for some time, trying to call out for Sulana to help her. Unbeknownst to Win, Sulana was ambushed and taken from the ruins while she was left for dead in the rubble. She managed to crawl her way to freedom after who-knows how long, but she couldn't find Sulana at the other side of the ruins.

Resigning herself to having been abandoned, Winlyn continues her adventures with temporary mercenaries she keeps at arms length. Yet she can't help but wonder where Sulana went.

Reman Cyrodiil, the first Emperor after Alesia is a man of legends. He is no doubt a real person, however, as a man that was worshiped his origins and accomplishments may be exaggerated or embellished. I'll do my best to cover it all for you guys.

This post will contain some sexual references though not explicit I wanted to warn you.

As always this post contains my own head canons. I will make it clear when I reference the source material from in game sources, dev interviews, or kirkbride faux lore. Alright I've kept you waiting long enough let's get into it.

I think the start of Reman's story really starts with Pelinal Whitestrake who 2000 years before, screamed Reman's name atop the same hill he was born out of. I think it is important to start here because it's important to understand that Reman's story is shrouded in legend and hearsay. In my opinion he was a great emperor and he united Cyrodiil after the Colovians and Nibenese split but its hard to say if his demigod (borderline god) status is accurate.

I'll summarize Reman's origin story from the "Remanada" a book you can find in games from Oblivion onward. Then I will go into my own thoughts.

2000 years after the days of Alessia and Pelinal and 400 years after Colovia and the Niben split. King Hroll began to have horrible visions of serpents. This drove him to make an excursion with 17 of his men in search of a solution to the nightmarish visions and to join his kingdom that had been split in two.

At some point in their journey saint Alessia herself appeared to the King and his men and scolded them for letting her people stray from the dragon fires. After saying her piece she fled into the forested hills around them and Hrol and his men scattered to try and catch her.

Hrol and his right hand eventually caught up to her but it becomes unclear if he actually confessed his love to the spirit of Alessia and slept with her or if he did the deed with the hill itself. But his friend carved "and Hrol did love unto a hillock" into a nearby stone then passed away. And Hrol himself was found naked face down in the mud dead from... exhaustion after completing the deed. The remaining men returned but would not say what happened and only acted embarrassed for Hrol.

In the next nine months the mound of mud slowly grew into a mountain and a community built itself around it and named the hill Sancre-Tor. At the end of the nine months they heard a baby crying from the top of the small mountain so a shapardess went up and found Reman there and he had the amulet of kings embedded in his forehead.

They took the baby to the throne and set him on it after making quite the scene. And the baby Reman spoke with an adult voice and said "I am Cyrodill come"

Under his rule Cyrodill became whole again and he was able to thwart the Akaviri invasion and convince them to join him as the dragon born but I feel like his adult life needs to be a whole other post.

Now, it's hard to say how much of this legend is true because... well its a bit of a meme if I'm completely honest. A dude nuts in a pile of mud and then then Remans first words are "I am Cyrodill come??"

I think bits and pieces of this story are true. I do think that Hrol went on a fruitless journey to sole the problem he kept seeing in his dreams. However I believe that he and his shield thane went crazy after they claimed to have seen Alessia and went chasing after her. I have a theory that they went crazy and killed eachother or themselves and yeah maybe Hroll did the nasty with a puddle of mud but that was because he was out of his mind.

In my opinion, it would be more believable that Reman was a wealthy, high born colovian, perhaps even a bastard son of Hrol, that rose in the heiarchy of the Cyrodiillic government at the time and eventually rook the throne. The stories of king Hrol discharging into the soil to create Reman could have been spread among the people to secure his, most likely shaky claim to the throne.

The claims of Reman being dragon born could be true as evidenced by the akaviri temples and the organization of the blades.

Knowing Ehlnofex can add humor to many situations. Most do not know that "Mora" means "forest", for example. In modern parlance there is only one thing referred to with that word (me) but it's everywhere if you're looking. Atmora, Morag Tong, Balmora, Sadrith Mora, Morahame, etc. As generic as it may seem with this in mind, I do not dislike what mortals have learned to call me. If I did not want to be called some form of Herma-Mora, I would not have allowed it to happen.
