Okay first off let's talk about Why Church Is Horny. Religion and sex are both things that people often have a lot of feelings about. Christians specifically have even more feelings about sex, usually because they're saying it's bad. However, from a Catholic perspective, there's often a LOT of erotic imagery and stuff going on behind the scenes. See: lactating Jesus, saints' mysticism (for instance, Theresa of Avila, Catherine of Siena), and honestly just general medieval saints… people were SO horny for God. Plus, from an anti-sex Christian perspective, stuff still gets horny more often than you'd think. Milton was a Puritan, and that doesn't stop Paradise Lost from having originated Sexy Satan as a trope. All of which boils down to, coming from Christian, English-speaking cultural context a lot of your feelings about sex and religion, both of which carry enough baggage on their own, become intertwined.

So. All of that means you get the invocation of Christian stuff in the Bedroom anyway--lots of people say stuff like 'oh god' during sex, for instance. Telling of sins evokes the Catholic sacrament of confession. And then we get to the knife. At it again

I know I already posted a long ramble about @redwingedwhump‘s work but I have a valid reason to do it again... the reason being I wanted to. I’m already a kid knocking on her door asking for candy regardless of Halloween being there or not and she’s not scolding me yet so I shan’t stop.

Anyway.

I’m baffled by the fact that there’s always details I missed when I’m binge-reading so I decided to mention some of my favorite ones.

(and yes I’m paragraphing because I didn’t do it the last time, I was on a mission)

I’ll of course be talking about Captured because San has captured my heart :D (I’ll do a walk of shame for this when I’m finished).

I’ve really gotta get into her other stories but the hyperfixation won’t leave me.

So chapter one. Introducing a powerful guy by mentioning he was in a cheap inn? Love it. They got graphic reports regarding his misdoings? Love me an infamous boi. Straight up getting into business instead of panicking? Hoo, already seeing some character building. “Looked through strands of dark hair” will never not be hot. Black eyes? Thirteen-year-old me is already preparing for a marriage. The only shirt he owns? Might as well go around shirtless, I won’t mind. Collected to the end of the introduction, overall immaculate vibes, no question whether we’re gonna keep reading. He’s already got a smackable personality and face.

Chapter two. Fire’s his usual game huh? Hot. (pun intended) The spark in his eyes, the smile, the taunting... Man I knew straight up I was in for it. The bloody smile? Boy oh boy, Red knew what she was doing. Him being no less intimidating in a muzzle is a supreme skill lads.

Chapter three. A headache, bright and hot sun, a muzzle, manacles, broken ankle, “sack of flower” style of travel? My man’s already having a rough time and he hasn’t even arrived yet. He’s got some hurt pride and he’s good with crowds? Wow, we’re getting to know each other so quickly. A drugged drink? I bet he’s not proud of falling for that. Another attractive picture - Harrow sitting in a bar, drinking brandy and reading. Loving the nightbell lore. Going through this again he just seems so human and touchable. Like he would’ve shown actual gratitude if someone had rescued him. He doesn’t seem like a ruthless killer and torturer.

Chapter four. Harrow getting dragged over the ground? Foreshadowing? :D When he spit in Ard’s face? Iconic, priceless, unforgettable. I also find it hilarious that you free his mouth and the first thing he says is a swear word. Applying a drug with a knife to the tongue? Immaculate. I get exited every time I think of what he would’ve done if he could’ve freed himself then.

Chapter five. He didn’t speak for three days? Now that’s a punishment for him. Am I ever getting over his interaction with Emmet? Nope, nada. The switch between him intimidating Emmet and then being taunted about being alone? *chef’s kiss*

Chapter six. The jeering crowds of townsfolk being a lesser evil before the actual threat in the castle? Me like it. The gate closing behind him was the beginning of it all. The riches and grandeur Harrow will be spending months bleeding underneath? Beautiful. Harrow being objectified like the spoils of a hunt? Not so nice is it bastid boi? Is it weird that I find it nostalgic rereading the first time Conroy blindfolded Harrow? The transition from hot to cold when they reached the cell? Gorgeous. I get whumperflies literally every time I think back to the boot coming off Harrow’s broken ankle. Conroy had him hung, stripped, dug into his burned flesh, sent electricity to his chest and it was their first night together? Jesus, I can’t even explain how strong of an impression the man made and after that he casually went back to supper? Speechless. It’s when the story really began and boy there is no way there’s a single person who wasn’t hooked to the bone.

I can’t actually go over every single chapter cuz this is one looong juicy story but this won’t be my last ramble :D I’ll probably have one for the captivity and one for the aftermath, but we’ll see where the wind blows.

On paper, undercover cop sounds cool and exciting, but even if you ignore the fact that he, y'know, dies... Chris got in too deep and kinda lost the mission, so to speak. Best case scenario, you're his sexy partner and in on it all with him and end up on the lam for the rest of your lives. Worst case, this man lies for a living, so can you even trust him? And... yeah. The whole dead thing. Chris is hot af but getting involved with him is a recipe for disaster.

7 Ben

Min and Hathor have mercy, I love Ben! He's smart, he's snarky, he's caring and loyal... he's an absolute disaster. He's another one who seems allergic to honesty, until his lying and avoiding nearly kill his girlfriend. Not exactly relationship goals lol. Everything before totally was, though! Ben's adorable, and I love how he stayed up all night to protect his girlfriend (from a ghost/demon thing... with a baseball bat. I said he was smart, not perfect, okay? XD points for effort lol)

6 Mickey Henry

I. LOVE. MICKEY. Oml I love Mickey. He's a spazz and - even more so than Ben - an absolute disaster of a human being, but I love him. Pros for dating Mickey Henry: he's fun, he's carefree, he'll cook for you even though he's kinda bad at it lol, he loves his son and wants to be a good dad, he wants his partner to be happy and to love life as much as he does. Cons, and the reason he's not higher on the list: He's a pushover; easily influenced by the toxic people in his life, and it gets him into a lot of trouble. Being easily influenced by toxic dumpster fire of a human being Chloe almost lost him the partial custody of his son that he barely even had. He's an absolute sweetheart, but he's a complete man-child, and dating him would often feel more like raising him.

5 Frank "Suffer Buddy"

Come on! You know he and Mickey had to be back-to-back - they're practically the same character! 😂 Frank is Mickey... slightly more grown up. He's still a disaster, but he's respectful of boundaries, he's caring, he's funny in a dry, witty way that I just adore, and hoo lordy that man is a giver! 🥴🥵 Honestly, if he didn't smoke and didn't ditch Daphne in the middle of a party hours away from everything familiar to her surrounded by strangers to go do drugs, I'd call Frank perfect. He listened, he respected her wishes, he tried to keep some distance between them when he found out she'd gone on a date with his best friend (it failed utterly and brought us to the "damn that man's good with his mouth" portion of the movie lmao but still)... I don't have a whole lot of experience with men who actually give a shit, okay? So Frank is like a goddamn unicorn to me lmao. But that drug thing... That keeps him at the bottom of the Top 5 for me. Sorry, bb

4 Bucky

I can already hear everyone on here raging at me for placing Bucky so low on this list, but hear me out: I love this man. I love all four iterations of this man. Flirty 40s Bucky was a doll (fun date, not commitment material). Post-POW camp 40s Bucky had a fire to him that set me on fire. The Winter Soldier can choke me any damn day. Unf. And TFATWS Bucky... Oh, lady above, 2023 Bucky is a gem! He's sweet, snarky, and broken. He feels utterly, wretchedly alone in the world, and everyone around him, including his only friend, is telling him to "man up" and "make amends" for shit that was never his fault to begin with, rather than helping him come to terms with all that he's suffered and all that he's survived. Bucky needs and deserves love. A relationship with him would be so solid, if he found the right person... But it would take a fuck ton of work. He needs someone strong, patient, and more stubborn than he is to prod him until he finds a better therapist and actually opens up, and to keep him on track because even good therapy comes with homework. He does have to "do the work," Sam was right about that much, but he was way off base with what that "work" is. Bucky needs help and understanding, and he would be an amazing boyfriend... if he found someone with the strength to help him weather his nightmares and flashbacks, and help pull him out of this PTSD pit he's been in since 1943.

3 Chris Beck

Big brains turn me on, okay? 😂This man is an astronaut and a surgeon! Yes, please! Come here, you sexy genius! He's smart, he's funny - pretty sure Sebastian is incapable of playing anyone who's not delightfully snarky lol. He's pragmatic when he needs to be but there's also nothing he wouldn't do or risk for the ones he loves. This man is husband material and I cannot be convinced otherwise! So why isn't he #1? Cuz of the whole... spending years in space, thing. Super cool job and I'd be his biggest fan on the ground, but god damn, I would miss him while he's away!

2 TJ Hammond

Look, I'm gender fluid and he's a little bit bi 😂😂😂 Let me have my fantasy, okay? TJ's definitely got a lot of shit to work through, but love brings out the best in him. Before that fucking closeted shitbag broke his heart and stomped on it for good measure, TJ was clean and sober for months, he was happy, he was playing piano again, he was pulling himself together. Not only would he be an amazing boyfriend, but his partner would get the extra joy of getting to watch their love and devotion to him be the thing that saves this beautiful man's life. It's not healthy overall to tie your self worth and will to live to a relationship, but if he found the right person who would be there for him through all of life's shit and stick it out, I think he'd be okay. Even after his lowest point and without the support of his family, TJ still had a dream and he still chased it. He's not just the sweetest person to ever grace our screens, but he's ambitious and business-savvy, too. Keep him off drugs and watch this man take over the world, I'm telling you!

Like he said that he very much regrets whatever he did as bratworth in the phone call with gumshoe but i don't think he anticipated this. poor edgeworth

Also I think this was the final nail in the coffin for miles. Phoenix forgave him, after all the fucked up shit miles did, and that made that man go "how is this guy so fucking compassionate awwwww shit I'm in fucking love with this idiotic brave man".

my main thoughts were "holy shit phoenix must have been feeling awful." like to learn that you were in love with a person who turned out to be a murderer but then not a murderer cuz everything you felt about that was real and just...... it must have hurt. He never fell in love with dahlia. it was iris, always. and WHAT ABOUT MILES DURING THIS!!! Like to learn that the man you love was falsely led to believe that he was in love with a person he rarely met and then learn that his ex who is not murderous might still be in love with him because "that was real. that part was real." like damn. people just gloss over this

He then tells Fireheart about him like, 'I met this cute kitty pet on patrol, he had black and white hair and a green collar. Never caught a name though' and Fireheart almost spit out his water cuz that's his old crush and neighbor Smudge so boom Longtail is now in a relationship with 4 loving bois!
