The Gucci Identity Crisis
What do Kering’s stock price and a Gucci belt have in common? The current trend is for both of them to hang low.
With the controversial announcement of Demna leaving Balenciaga for Gucci, Kering’s share price dropped by a shocking 11%. Fashion experts have a wide range of opinions on the reason behind this, whether it be a personal distaste for Demna’s design philosophy, perceived lack of finesse or skill, or what seems to be the prevailing consensus: that he doesn’t ‘fit’ at the Italian house.
Gucci accounts for over 50% of its parent company's revenue, and Demna is known for his ability to convert press into profit. Looking past subjectivities of beauty, taste or fashionability, the move appears a wise business decision. Through the eyeglass of an investor, whether Demna’s oversized silhouettes and distressed textures would transfer into Gucci’s history is irrelevant.
Francois-Henri Pinault is not trying to ‘Be Different’ as Demna's Balenciaga hoodies loudly dictate. Rather, the entire idea of brand identity - particularly in the case of a massive legacy brand like Gucci - is absent. When fashion is corporatized and revenue-focused, brand identity doesn’t matter, or in Gucci’s case, is nearly non-existent.
For a recap on Gucci’s history, the brand started as a family-owned luxury leather goods brand. Inspired by aristocratic equestrian customs, Gucci would inject elements of such into their products. Most notably, the iconic green-red-green stripe descends from the colors of a classical saddle girth strap.
Gucci saddle, late 20th century sold on auction at Sotheby's.
Other examples include the horsebit loafer, with a saddle slung across the bridge of the foot or the Jackie bag. Originally named the Fifties Constance, the bag uses the patina of a bamboo cane to emulate the silhouette of a horseshoe.
Seminal motifs that would become core to the Italian maison introduced throughout the family-owned era include the emblematic interlocking double G, flora pattern and displays of masterful craftsmanship and opulence through exotic leathers, suedes and animal hide.

Flora scarf (left) designed for Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco. Jacqueline Kennedy (right) carrying her eponymous bag.
Sale of ready-to-wear clothing began in the mid-1960s, while presentation of collections began at New York City’s St. Regis in the 1970s. During this time under family management and design, clothing would mainly draw influence from the fundamentals that distinguished their leather goods.

Gucci 1981 Campaign. Loosely fitting garments and floral prints dominated the collection, spotlighting luxury and prestige.
Following a tumultuous period of family conflict, Tom Ford was hired to revive the label - marking the transition of Gucci into a modern high fashion brand. Tom Ford’s initial collections drastically strayed from the traditional Gucci image, creating hypersexualized and passionate garments.

Kate Moss for Gucci Fall/Winter 1995 in Milan- Tom Ford’s official debut. A blue silk v-cut button-up with dark blue denim jeans. Ford’s direction heavily contrasts with previous collections - emphasizing a sharp and tailored silhouette, with texture through fabric as opposed to more organic shapes, colorful patterns and exotic animal furs and skins.
Carmen Kass for Fall/Winter 2002 in Milan. Ford’s tenure de-emphasized motifs like the double-G and monogram. A more generic conception of clothing is epitomized in Crucifix necklaces, and all black looks, accentuating form and the body figure.

Gucci Spring/Summer 1997 Campaign. Sensual poses and references to intercourse starkly differentiate the preceding age of conservative and sophisticated luxury.
2004 saw disagreements with Pinault Printemps Redoute (now known as Kering) lead to Ford’s departure and the promotion of Alessandra Facchineti for womenswear, John Ray for menswear, and Frida Giannini to accessories. Giannini would eventually take over the full position in 2005, continuing down a similar direction while relaxing the raw sexual aggression of Ford’s vision. Towards the end of her directorship, she began drawing inspiration from all sources, including Art Deco and the Victorian Era.
Gucci Spring/Summer 2011 menswear. Tom Ford’s sensibilities represented in impeccably tailored suits, with an atmosphere of informality through relaxed styling choices, like rolled up sleeves.
Giannini would also revive the Jackie bag and flora print, reintroducing color into her collections. Nevertheless, her era would see even less ostentatious branding on clothing and bags, which would eventually lead to her firing and the introduction of the now-infamous creative vision of Alessandro Michele in 2015.
Alessandro Michele moved far away from Ford’s ultra-femininity and ultramasculinity, expressing that “you can be more masculine by showing your femininity.”
Gucci Spring/Summer 2015 Menswear. Michele’s first runway, he erases the divide between gender roles, designing menswear for women and womenswear for men.
Michele’s inspirations drew from an even wider variety than Giannini - from popular 2010s streetwear branding and simplicity to the renaissance’s frills and extravagance. A single glance at the collections originating from Ford/Giannini’s design philosophies and Michele’s maximalist garments is enough to display the divergence in Gucci’s trademarks.

Gucci Spring/Summer 2001 under Tom Ford and Fall/Winter 2017 under Alessandro Michele. Solid colors and thorough fabric detailing contrast with vibrant embroideries and androgynous draping.
Despite Gucci’s enormous financial success under Michele’s vision, he would leave in 2022 with analysts citing ‘brand fatigue’, the same reason that brought the end of the aristocratic family-owned and Ford/Giannini eras.
With a short-lived tenure under Sabato de Sarno, minimalism was brought to the forefront as he sought to restore Gucci’s exclusivity and fix its overexposure.
De Sarno for Gucci's Spring-Summer 2024 collection. An oversized coat with a grey collared button-up and red-shorts.
Retaining principles of both the extreme tailoring from Ford’s time as well as baggy, draped silhouettes from Michele’s collections, he was quoted as wanting to “see you wearing Gucci, not Gucci wearing you”. Nevertheless, he stepped down in 2025, opening the door for the current posterboy of controversy into the house, Demna.
Gucci has reinvented itself and its image thrice now. While certain motifs may retain their presence through each iteration at varying levels, motifs aren’t enough to shape a comprehensive or powerful brand impression. Evidently, the idea of continuation has always been a relatively short-lived notion in the minds of Gucci’s consumers.
That isn’t to say that a strong image isn’t a good thing. Rick Owens’ obsession with grotesque contours and abstraction has created him a cult-like following. Despite Hermes’ history of hiring designers from both ends of the spectrum in the discreet Martin Margiela and glamorous Jean-Paul Gaultier, it has still maintained its nature of exclusivity and muted luxury.
Nevertheless, such a nebulous concept in the case of a label like Gucci is irrelevant to its success - and other conglomerate-owned maisons make this clear. If you were to look at one collection from Marc Jacobs and one from Virgil Abloh at Louis Vuitton, it would be false to say that there was an acute preservation of design philosophy or expression. Neither for John Galliano and Maria Grazia-Chiuri at Dior or Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williams at Givenchy. And still, collections are bought and shareholders made richer.
Whether Demna’s signatures appeal to you or not, his inevitable overhaul of Gucci’s brand identity and reduction of previous designer’s philosophies is not a valid criticism of Kering’s choice. Evident from his work at Balenciaga, it is undeniable that Demna will be able to reinvent the house and bring it back to the vanguard of fashion discourse.

EMILIE FLÖGE (1874-1952) First liberated Viennese woman, Austrian Coco Chanel immortalized in Klimt’s phenomenal Kiss. (re)ascending the social ladder Emilie Flöge was born into a Viennese artisan family that had only recently ascended the ladder of social respectability. Her father Hermann was a master turner who had founded a firm that exported Meerschaum pipes, mostly to the British market. between silk and lace Always passionate about fashion, Emilie quickly started working as a seamstress, and when her elder sister, Pauline, opened a dressmaking school in Vienna, Emilie willingly agreed to help. Two years later, in 1895, the two of them won a prestigious dressmaking competition. In 1904 Flöge sisters opened the couture house Schwestern Flöge in Vienna, with interiors designed by Josef Hoffmann. It quickly became a successful enterprise luring wealthy clients committed to modernity in all its forms. At its prime, the company employed nearly 80 workers. reforming the dress In addition to heading the Schwestern Flöge, Emilie also maintained a direct, hands-on role in production, often pinning fabric to a dummy (custom-made to a client’s proportions) before directing fabric-cutters to reassemble it. She traveled to Paris twice a year to source fabric, belts and buttons. But what really fascinated her, was an idea to rethink women’s dress. Using her familiarity with Wiener Werkstätte projects, folk costumes and Japanese textiles, she soon created her very own Reform Dress. revolutionizing fashion stores By the time Chanel opened her first salon in Paris, Flöge had been producing cutting-edge designs in Vienna for several years. Her loose, flowing and bold dresses rejected the tight-laced style of historicist Vienna already carving out new roles for women in the industry. Flöge’s fashion celebrated physical freedom, self-expression, closeness to nature, and the vitality of other ethnicities from within the Austro-Hungarian Empire itself to the Far East. Unlike other retail stores, the Flöge sisters displayed alluring art objects that were not for sale. The store was decorated with beauticians, tortoise shell combs, marbled paper notebooks, silver chalices and hand-carved wooden dolls. Instead of copying popular design trends of the time, Schwestern Flöge was furnished with sleek, adjustable mirrors; geometric, carved wood chairs; and black-and-white chequered tables. relationship with Klimt In 1892 Emilie was introduced to Ernst Klimt, who recently got engaged with her sister - Helene. He was a talented painter gaining recognition for his work alongside his younger brother - Gustav. After Ernst’s death in December 1892, Gustav was made Helene's guardian. At that time Emilie was eighteen years old and Gustav became a frequent guest at the home of her parents, spending the summers with the Flöge family at Lake Attersee. By 1897, Emilie Flöge and Gustav Klimt had become inseparable, and most Viennese close to the couple assumed that she had in fact become his mistress. While there can be no doubt that the couple were passionately attached emotionally, and would spend countless hours in each other's company over the next two decades, some scholars have raised the possibility that their relationship always remained platonic. After 1891, Klimt portrayed her in many of his works. Experts believe that his painting The Kiss (1907–08) shows the artist and Emilie Flöge as lovers. Klimt also drew some garments for the Flöge salon in the rational dress style - a style promoted by the feminist movement - and from 1898, other clothes designed by the Vienna Secession. fin de siècle By the time Nazis invaded Austria in 1938, many of Schwestern Flöge’s clientele, who were Jewish, had fled the country or were deported to concentration camps. Like neighboring businesses — both established and burgeoning — they were forced to close. Emilie Flöge never wrote her memoirs, but despite the paucity of sources historians have been able to reconstruct the story of her powerful influence as the muse of one of fin-de-siècle Vienna's greatest artists. Among the last survivors from an utterly vanished world, she died in Vienna on May 26, 1952. Red and White
Games paper wedding dress embody
The terror of Chinese style

Ghost marriage:The core of Chinese terror
Ghost marriage, as a peculiar form of marriage in Chinese folk culture, is an important source of inspiration for the story background of the game "Paper Wedding Dress". It originated in the Yin and Shang Dynasties, developed through the Wei, Jin, South-North Dynasties, flourished in the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, continued to progress in the Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing Dynasties, and still secretly prevails in some areas today. Ghost marriage, also known as ghost wedding, Yin marriage, fatal pairing in the underworld, etc., can be divided into two kinds of ghost marriage:between the dead and between the living and the dead. The game plot is mainly the second form.
Q: How to make a Chinese terror puzzle game based on Ghost marriage? Production Team A: We look in folk customs to polish detail and explain traditional culture with plot puzzles.
Folk custom and traditional culture in the games
When it comes to ghost marriage, paper zha and wedding dress are inevitable.
According to the usages, paper zha can be divided into at least three types:sacrificial funeral one, decorative appreciation one and entertainment one. Most of the paper zha appearing in the game is the first one, which is also known as funeral paper zha. This kind of paper zha are mostly paper people, paper horses, houses and modern paper cars, paper electrical appliances and so on.These paper zha not only show the mourning for the deceased, but also symbolize the "illusory things" and "inhuman things" in the game, so that players can constantly feel the blurred boundary between life and death in the process of solving the puzzle.

The design of the wedding dress in The game absorbed the advantages of modern Chinese Hanfu , the version of both the relaxed and comfortable Xiuhe clothing, but also the three-dimensional slim Longfeng coat. According to the personality of different characters, the decoration and accessories of the wedding dress also have their own characteristics, showing a gorgeous and valuable background color or a gentle and beautiful spot color. The wedding dress combines the traditional aesthetics with the gloomy atmosphere, highlighting the unique visual tension of the Chinese terror.

Of course, in addition to the two main elements, the games also intersperse many other excellent traditional Chinese culture and folk culture related content in the scene layout and puzzle solving process...

The surnames of many of the game's main characters, CP, correspond to well-known lovers in folk literature:
The heroine and heroine in the first film, Ning Zifu Nie Moqi, correspond to Ning Caichen and Nie Xiaoqian in the eighth section of Volume 3 of strange Tales from a Chinese studio;
Liang Shaoping Zhu Xiaohong, the protagonist of the second and fifth parts, corresponds to Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.
Shen Moqing and Wang Jiao Tong in the third part correspond to Shen Chun and Wang Jiaoniang in the novel Tale of Jiao Hong written by Song Yuan in the Yuan Dynasty.
Zhang Chenrui and Cui Wanying in the fourth part correspond to Zhang Junrui and Cui Yingying in Wang Shifu's drama Romance of the Western Chamber in the Yuan Dynasty;
And Liu Fengze Du Yan in the seventh part corresponds to Liu Mengmei and Du Liniang in Tang Xianzu's play The Peony Pavilion in the Ming Dynasty.
For example, in "Paper Marriage Clothes 7 Not betray", Du says that she appears in the form of soul, which is a reference to Du Liniang's story--that her soul leaves her body. Du Liniang awakens in the spring of colorful flowers and seeks for the perfection of life, while Du says that she wants to sacrifice Liu Fengze to make up for her destination as the golden boy and the jade girl, which is a continuation of the Peony Pavilion, but the view of love runs counter to it. Perhaps there is a hidden mystery in its name, "Yanta(Talking her)" is actually "acting her", playing Du Shiniang's joys and sorrows, singing "Peony Pavilion" into "Du Shiniang's angry treasure Chest".

Paper wedding Dress 7 May the name have a different meaning?
I just have a sudden feel."Yanta,Yanta", does not mean Du Liniang but refer to another Du Shi niang. "Yanta" also refers to "acting her", but what she acts is Du Shiniang rather than Du Liniang. From "Peony Pavilion" to "Warning Bell Words", it is really fantastic!
There is "Fengze", which shares similar sound with "crazy" in Chinese characters !!!
They are really attentive to make games! (I may be over-interpreting this, but I do have such a meaning in my heart.) Just one word to describe my feeling, excellent!

A piece of "Peony Pavilion" is explained as "Du Shiniang becomes angry and Sinks All the Treasures"
Liu Fengze and Du Yanta, a golden boy with a jade girl. His Last name is Liu and first name is Fengze, which echoes Liu Mengmei; Her surname is Du, corresponding to Niang, and she was Du Li Niang. But Liu is actually not Liu.His real first name is Li.Yan is actually not Yan because she changes the character.Because of a different word, Liu Mengmei is turned into Li Jia,and Du Liniang is changed into Du Shiniang. The "Peony Pavilion" was performed as "Du Shiniang becomes angry and Sinks All the Treasures" ah, what a fate of a good golden boy and jade girl".
The extreme danger and silence of the interweaving of red and white
The spirit endured, and the bond remained strong. The two brides in red and white wedding clothes appeared on the poster of Paper Bride 7. The elements of the wedding in red and funeral in white were entangled and intertwined, with a strange sense of beauty. Well-designed elements enhance the recognition of the game, but also promote it becoming widely known, drawing more players to explore the domain of Chinese horror.

Red usually symbolizes happiness and joy in public vision, but when our perspective turns to Chinese horror games, a large area of red often distorts its universal symbolism and strengthens the eerie atmosphere. In addition to symbolizing beauty, red also reflects the most basic human understanding and survival experience of the world, because it comes from blood and fire. Human beings gained strength with the help of fire, continuing the hope of life under cruel living conditions. They cooked food, drove away the cold, sacrificed with blood, and concluded covenants. Red prolonged life in the way of destruction, but it is also easy to attract attention and alert people. When the red wedding dress appears in the gloomy and scary scene, the bright color forms a sharp contrast with the silent background, impacting the player's senses, as if heralding the coming danger or disaster. This atmosphere of anxiety and fear, noticing that a crisis is coming, not only enhances the tension of the game, but also magnifies the player's perception of the atmosphere of terror.

Apart from the eerie red tones, the game is also filled with an uncanny white. In Western culture, white is used to symbolize purity and holiness, while in traditional Chinese culture, if the red wedding dress symbolizes the beginning of marriage, then white, which often appears in funeral ceremonies, symbolizes the end of life. The white lanterns and pale paper people in Paper Bride are quiet and silent, suppressing the breath of "life", closely related to death and funeral, creating an empty and mysterious atmosphere and increasing the sense of suspense of the game. White can also contrast with common dark tones in horror games, which can not only enhance the visual effect of the game, but also better highlight the elements of terror. The interweaving of red and white and the encounter of weddings and funerals help the game put aside the common symbolic meaning of color, allowing players to break away from the cognition gained in reality and immerse themselves in the weird game world.

The mysterious eastern rune leads to the unknown key
Chinese horror games are always inseparable from the elements of Chinese traditional culture. The rune codes in Paper Bride, known as "ghostwrite", are actually some ancient characters or religious symbols. This font, Yunzhuan, was originally a Taoist character, referring to the smoke wrapped around incense burning, or a cloud shaped like the seal character. If players are willing to decipher, they can also connect the password into a correct sentence, such as the Yunzhuan password of the dressing box in the god's sedan chair in the game, which means something in rotation. Combined with ancient Chinese mythology and philosophy, as well as the game setting point of view, it may imply the law and order in the game world. Runes, as symbols that are difficult to interpret in the game, often represent unknown forces, suggesting potential challenges while stimulating players' desire to explore. Such mysterious forces can be positive or negative, symbolize "protection" or play the role of a "curse". The energy carried by the runes themselves and their shape and arrangement have cast an atmosphere of mystery over them. Coupled with the unknown spell effect set by the game background, players can feel more oppression and fear.

Cultural symbols always serve for the atmosphere and plot narration of the game. Like the empty temple pagoda, the village with smoke and ghost fire, and the squeaking wooden doors, these common elements not only symbolize decay and silence, but also build an audio-visual language environment full of terror. They can not only enhance the players' sense of tension and insecurity, but also serve as a carrier to promote the development of the plot. Through the interpretation of these cultural symbols, players can deeply understand the storyline of the game while enjoying the playability of the game. They can also feel the charm of Chinese horror more deeply.

The paper wedding dress series of games, with the theme of ghost marriage, takes players on a thrilling and suspenseful Chinese horror adventure. In the next episode, we will delve deeper into the unique aspects of Chinese horror to present you with a more comprehensive and in-depth Chinese horror world, giving you a different horror experience. See you in the next episode!

Additional Information:
In the second chapter, the correct answer of the cloud seal password of the dresser box in the palanquin is that from right to left to read the meaning of "six respect five elements rotation", friends who are interested in it can also go to know this "scribble" ! (actually it is the cloud seal)

Trying hard to let go
1.6k words
Anakin Skywalker x reader
Waves masterlist
Main Masterlist
Part of the Waves universe, this is sort of a 0.5 story to introduce you to my version of the order etc.
Summary: While on leave, you adjust to life in the city and run into someone who you can never seem to stop finding
warnings: brief argument, grieving the loss of a loved one
a/n: another week, another addition to one of my series! I may find the energy to bust another one out tomorrow, but who knows! Happy reading!
It’s almost as if, since the official commemoration of Master Bosque, a new time period has started. It… feels as if everything that happened when he was alive is the before now, and everything since his death is after. This is strictly after.
You’ve tried and tried and tried to move on. It works sometimes, just distracting yourself, mediating, training the younglings at the Creche, plotting missions you won’t go on. Designing drills and challenges for jedi to practice with (especially Jedi who wield two blades, like you).
Becoming a Master Sentinel has also been an adjustment. After the death of Bosque, you had to take over as the head sentinel on coruscant, moving into an apartment in the highly populated domestic sectors, walking a beat, helping out civilians, catching runaway pets and showing off your lightsabers to small kids (they are always fascinated by the fact that you have, not one, but two white lightsabers, something different, something unique).
You’ve made friends, encounters frequent, while you’re on shore leave, which is how you’ve found yourself in the latest fix: a wedding.
You’ve never been to a wedding before, as all of your friends are Jedi, bound by the code, but your now close friend Callia needed a plus-one to a wedding of one of you other friends, and you weren’t about to let her go alone. So, you had set off to do something you’d never done before: shopping.
It’s a wonderful experience, shopping is. The shops overwhelm you with colors you’d never see in the jedi temple- the flashiest thing you wear is the custom beskar chest plate you’d been gifted after a battle with a high ranking Mandalorian house member. The rest of your attire is strictly shades of brown and the white-and-teal clone armor you wear on your arms in combat.
So the silks and cottons and lush fabrics of the dress shop you’ve stepped into are a shock to you. Callia- bless her- is a whirlwind who does al the work for you, picking out ten different dresses of varying styles and colors appropriate for a wedding, tossing them (and you) into a dressing room.
After a rigorous amount of spinning and pinching and hemming and “hmm”ing and denying scandalous dresses, you come out with two dresses, one, “just in case,” and to “build your wardrobe,” because Jedi, apparently “dress like colorblind grandmothers,” according to Callia.
This is how you end up sitting on the bathroom counter of Calia’s apartment, letting her pint your face with brand new makeup - the products she has wouldn’t work on the tone of your skin, considering that she is Pantoran, and therefore, blue.
She’s radiant, of course, with the golden Pantoran formal headdress adorning her light hair, big eyes, drawn in dark eyeliner, light purple dress draped over her thin frame. She won’t let you look at yourself until she’s done with you. She grabs your chin, dabbing a dark pigment on your lips, smiling.
“Okay, look.”
You turn, eyes widening as you take in the reflection of a girl- not a Jedi. Who you could have been, had you found your way to coruscant on your own, without the help of the Jedi.
could you be attending your own wedding?
no.
There’s no room for doubt and The Force.
You inhale. Was this a mistake?
No, because this is the duty of a Sentinel. Live among the people. Personify the Jedi.
Your dress, a simple sage green dress with a square neck that reaches to your mid-calf, is perfectly fluffy enough for you to hide your sabers under the skirt, thanks to your thigh holsters.
Your hair is pinned back, artfully framing your face in just the right places, and the makeup Callia has painted on is the perfect simple face.
Understated, she calls it.
the rest of the night is uneventful- aside from you struggling to walk in your heels, the misting of your eyes at the sight of the pure happiness passing in the bride and groom’s faces as they tie the final bow and celebrate their union.
It’s warm when the reception ends. You hug your friends whose wedding you’ve just celebrated, wishing them luck through the force, and the you and Callia begin the journey home. On the transit, though, you take off the heels that have been killing your feet, leaving them in plain white socks. It’s okay, because you and Callia are the only ones in this carriage.
The stops drag on as you sit in silence, eyelids drooping, the high fading from the great time you’d had tonight.
The doors slide open to a ruckus, shaking you awake, Callia also takes her head off your shoulder, glancing distractedly at the door. Clones.
More specifically, royal blue painted clones. The 501st.
Fives, one of your favorites of Anakin’s troops, catches sight of you and does a double take.
“General?” he calls out. You smile tiredly at the matching sets of brown eyes that land on you, suddenly feeling completely out of place without your armor, sitting here in civvy clothes coming from a civvy event.
“Hey, boys,” you say, standing up and bowing to them respectfully, just as you would another jedi. “I didn’t know you were on leave, too.”
“Wait! Hold the doors!”
Another clone voice, and two pairs of pounding footsteps, and then a blond trooper enters. Rex, and… Anakin.
You stop short, locking eyes with him, until Callia breaks your intense stare, nudging you with her elbow, clearing her throat.
“Ah, yes. Everyone, this is Callia. Callia, this is Fives, Jesse, Tup, Kix and Hardcase. Over there, the blond, that’s Rex, he’s the Clone commander for the 501st legion. And… that one,” you point at Anakin, “Is General Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi of the Grand republic, the one I told you about.”
The significance of this phrase is loaded for each of you.
To Anakin, you suppose this might mean you’ve told Callia everything. Everything that he said, that he did to make you fall apart.
To you and Callia, you’re referring to the one you grew up training with, your former best friend, though you’ve spared her the details of the argument that made everything go south.
Callia, ever the extrovert, strides forward and pumps Anakin’s hand.
“Nice to meet you! I’m Y/n’s other best friend!”
Well, maybe you left out the former part of the relationship.
“…hi?” Anakin shakes her hand with his glove on, eyes still on you. “Other best friend, huh?”
“Well, she told me how you two grew up together and stuff, so yeah!”
“Callia,” You say. “This is your stop.”
Indeed, her cue to leave is indicated by the holo over the door.
“Oh, well, it’s was nice meeting you guys!” Callia waves to the group of clones gathered awkwardly in the corner of the compartment. They all wave back, vaguely confused by the Pantoran girl who promptly bounces out of the transit vehicle, blowing you a kiss right as the doors close.
“Well, she seems nice,” Anakin tells you, grinning slyly.“Bestie.”
you groan.
How is it that, through the vacuum of space, miles and miles away, you can sense his presence, but on the public Coruscanti transit system, somehow you’re surprised by his appearance?
“She doesn’t seem to grasp that I’m not allowed to have any ‘best friends’.”
Rex shakes his head.
“Don’t know you were living with the civvies, General.”
you shrug.
“It’s new. just this leave I’ve moved into the city.”
Fives shoulders his way to you, face alight with humor.
“What’s got you all dolled up, General? I didn’t think the Jedi were allowed to wear anything but browns.”
“You know, gives, that’s exactly what my friends said when the saw me.” you wave your shows in the air. “I was at a wedding.”
“A wedding.”
“Yes, Skywalker, a wedding. That’s what civilians do. They go to weddings and they go shopping and do all these pointless things just for the fun of it.”
Anakin steps toward you.
“Civilians? But you’d been doing so well at fitting in, with your friends.” He sneers the last word. “Now you refer to them as others?”
You step towards him, too, narrowing your eyes.
“I can have civilian friends, you know. That’s what Sentinels do. We can’t all just swing out lightsabers and blow things up and walk away without consequences.”
“No, face it, Y/n, you’re running. Like you always do.”
“You’re one to talk about running, Skywalker.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Suddenly, you’re hit with an overwhelming wave of weariness. You’re tired of arguing with him and the tense silences and the broken moments. Biting back a reproach, to tell him exactly what that means, you glance around.
The Clones are probably tired of it, too.
“Whatever, Skywalker. I’m not doing this with you again. It always ends with both of us going home hurting.”
Anakin’s perplexed by this, you can see it on his face. Behind him, Rex has a peculiar expression of relief on his face. He probably just wants to see Jex again without having to separate their generals from another screaming match.
Anakin’s shut up, at least.
“This is my stop. goodnight Rex, boys,” You pause, then, quietly, “Goodnight, Anakin.”
It’s not until you tuck yourself into bed and turn over that you realize that this has been the first day since his death that you’ve not thought of Bosque once.
Some part of you jolts at the notion of forgetting him, but how could you? He always was and is a huge part of your life, even in his absence.
And you will always hold him near, but that doesn’t mean you have to regret him all day every day.
You felt him today, you realize. Stepping back from the argument, bidding a polite goodnight to someone you could easily hate.
You can almost feel him hand on your shoulder, showing you the way.
———
Aaaaah starting off with the process of grief! Thanks for letting me ramble to you ;)

Choosing Custom Curtains for Different Room Types: From Bedrooms to Living Rooms

Custom curtains can greatly enhance the functionality and aesthetics of any room in your home. By selecting the right type of curtain for each room, you can achieve both style and practicality. This article explores how to choose custom curtains for various room types, including bedrooms, living rooms, and more.
1. Custom Curtains for Bedrooms
In bedrooms, curtains play a crucial role in creating a restful and comfortable environment:
Blackout Curtains: For optimal sleep quality, consider custom blackout curtains. They block out external light and provide privacy, ensuring a dark and serene sleeping environment.
Thermal Insulated Curtains: These are ideal for maintaining a comfortable temperature in the bedroom. They help keep the room warm in winter and cool in summer, contributing to a better night’s sleep.
Fabric Choices: Opt for soft, cozy fabrics like velvet or cotton. Choose colors and patterns that promote relaxation and complement the bedroom décor.
2. Custom Curtains for Living Rooms
The living room is often a focal point for both family activities and entertaining guests. Custom curtains can enhance its appearance and functionality:
Sheer Curtains: For a light and airy feel, sheer curtains are a great choice. They allow natural light to filter through while providing a level of privacy.
Custom Drapes: To add elegance and drama, custom drapes can be tailored to the room’s dimensions. Choose fabrics that complement the furniture and décor, and consider patterns or textures to add visual interest.
Layering: Combining sheer curtains with heavier drapes offers flexibility in controlling light and privacy. This layering technique allows you to adjust the ambiance according to your needs.
3. Custom Curtains for Home Offices
Creating a productive work environment at home involves thoughtful curtain selection:
Sound Insulating Curtains: To minimize distractions and improve concentration, sound insulating curtains can help reduce external noise. Choose fabrics with acoustic properties to enhance focus and productivity.
Light Control: Depending on your work requirements, opt for curtains that offer adjustable light control. Custom shades or blinds can be combined with drapes for precise light management.
Professional Look: Select curtains that convey a professional and organized appearance. Neutral colors and clean lines work well in a home office setting.
4. Custom Curtains for Dining Rooms
Dining rooms are often used for both everyday meals and special gatherings. Custom curtains can enhance the atmosphere and functionality:
Elegant Drapes: For a sophisticated look, consider custom drapes in luxurious fabrics like silk or brocade. These can add a touch of refinement to the dining area.
Practical Considerations: Choose curtains that are easy to clean and maintain, especially if the dining room is frequently used. Fabrics that resist stains and can be wiped clean are practical choices.
Color and Pattern: Coordinate the curtains with your dining room’s color scheme and décor. Consider patterns or textures that complement the dining table and chairs.
5. Custom Curtains for Kitchens
In the kitchen, curtains should be both functional and stylish:
Durable Fabrics: Opt for durable and easy-to-clean fabrics, such as cotton or synthetic blends. Kitchens can be prone to spills and splatters, so choose materials that withstand frequent washing.
Custom Valances: For a neat and tidy appearance, custom valances or short curtains work well. They provide privacy while allowing natural light to enter the space.
Functional Design: Consider curtains with easy-to-operate mechanisms, such as tiebacks or roller shades, for convenience in a busy kitchen environment.
6. Custom Curtains for Bathrooms
Bathrooms require curtains that combine privacy with practicality:
Waterproof Curtains: For durability and ease of maintenance, choose waterproof or water-resistant fabrics. This is especially important for curtains around the shower or tub area.
Privacy: Ensure that the curtains provide adequate privacy. Frosted or opaque fabrics work well in bathrooms where visibility needs to be minimized.
Ventilation: Opt for materials that dry quickly and resist mold or mildew growth. This ensures that the curtains remain fresh and hygienic in a moisture-prone environment.
Conclusion
Custom curtains can enhance the functionality and aesthetics of any room in your home. By selecting the right type of curtains for each room, you can achieve a balance of style, comfort, and practicality. Whether for a bedroom, living room, home office, or any other space, custom curtains offer tailored solutions to meet your specific needs and preferences.

Happy NYE/NY everyone!
Because 'tis the season for reflection, I went through my camera roll and picked out the 9 projects from this year that I'm proudest of.
(We all know what posts from this year got the most online attention, but I think it's important to be introspective and think about what projects and posts were actually most valuable to me. Anyways. /soapbox)
Swan Song Scarf (Jasmine Lin, Crafty Coola). This is my design, and although I released it a good while ago, I'm still incredibly proud of it. I spent a lot of time sketching, charting, knitting, ripping back... it was a labor of love, but I'm proud that I stuck with it and got a result I'm happy with. Yarn: Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply (World in a Book and Light Clematis)
Woodland Cardigan (Anna Johanna, Where We Once Knitted). This was my first time steeking, and yeah, I'm pretty gosh-darned proud of that. Yarn: Knit Picks Palette (Wonderland Heather and Calypso Heather)
Anza Dress (Kennis Wong, Itch to Stitch). This was my first time installing buttons, making (sewn) buttonholes, using interfacing (...don't judge me), and sewing scoop pockets. So many new techniques for me, but it created such a polished product and was an excellent learning opportunity. I'm so glad I took the leap with this pattern. Fabric: Singer Brand Cotton Poplin (2 yards)
Color Triangle (p: do you love the color of the sky?). This was my first time using powdered acid dye (read: Big Girl Dye instead of tie-dye/Rit/food coloring)! Obviously the whole color-formulating process for the Color of the Sky shenanigans remains in progress, but I'm proud of this triangle as it is anyways. Fiber: Knit Picks Stroll Bare, Dye: G&S Acid Dyes
Custom Intarsia Blanket. This depicts DNA replication using restriction enzymes and DNA ligase. I did this one for a custom commission, and I'm proud of myself for a) designing it, b) being so free with it, and c) getting to make something science-y! I sketched a rough plan before beginning, but I had to make an absurd amount of adjustments along the way -- in the end, I even had to duplicate stitch over the restriction enzyme bit with a half-strand (i.e. half the plies) of yarn since the stash yarn was too fine. I'm so used to planning everything and then being stubborn; this was a great exercise in adaptability and letting go.
Elderberry Dress (Shavonne Cruz, Mood Sewciety). I'm not one to do muslins or even much fitting on my sewing projects. I tend to just take patterns straight out of the envelope and then sew them, consequences be damned. This dress, though? After each wear, I've been making little adjustments to improve it; shaping the neckline and adjusting the fit, amongst other things. That's something I want to carry forward for my future projects.
Eliane Scrubs (Jalie). These aren't anything particularly special from a technical perspective, but they are possibly my most-worn me-made EVER. They've held up to weekly wear and washing and I'm proud of them for that, as well as of myself for letting my babies "do their job" instead of hiding them way out of fear. Fabric: cotton poplin
Fractal Yarn (p: swirling solar winds). I spun most of this for Tour de Fleece (which feels like a lifetime ago!) and it's a huge accomplishment for me. I'm often afraid to break down gradient braids, so doing a fractal spin was a first for me! I also got it nice and fine; a practical weight for what I usually work with. Fiber: Emily C Gillies (now House of Wool) Luck of the Draw December 2022 on Merino/Silk
Handspun Sweater (p: we pull apart the stars). Ok, so this isn't finished, but handspun sweater. I think that speaks for itself as far as why I'm proud!
