My personal headcanon is that Pony got his love for reading from Darry. When Darry was in high school he’d read the books he got in class out loud to Ponyboy and straight up just handed him some of the easier ones so they could talk about it later. In my brain the reason Ponyboy clings onto it so much is because it’s one of the things he and Darry REALLY bonded over when he was a kid and it just brings back good memories of when they got along better.

Something about Johnny watching Ponyboy read Soda’s letter and looking hesitantly to Dally, hoping for a letter from his family, too—and how hurt he was when he didn’t get one.
Something about Soda ending his letter to Ponyboy with “say hey to Johnny for us.”

can I be cruel tonight. vietnam vet soda who admired his dad for being a soldier for years bc as kids we’re blind to the truth of war and sacrifice and all he knew growing up was that his dad had to go fight in the korean war like weeks after he was born and didn’t come home until soda was at least eighteen months old. darrel sr. never talked about the war, he acts like it didn’t happen, except he wore his dogtags under his shirt every day for the rest of his life after—and then soda wears them when his dad dies because it’s like keeping a part of his dad with him, something he was proud of his dad for.
and then soda gets his own, when he’s eighteen and they send him that letter condemning him to the same fate he realizes that there was a story behind that blank expression his dad would have some nights, stories similar to the ones sod’s has now and he feels sick to his stomach. but he also feels closer to his dad than ever. and now sometimes if darry and pony can’t find soda they go to the cemetary and soda will be sitting on the ground in front of their parents’ graves and his fingers will be tangled in the chain of his dogtags as he just stares into the middle distance, like their dad used to, once upon a time

There’s something very fitting about how Darry’s struggles and actions are presented through water metaphors (“I keep treading water/but I sink just like a stone”, “I don’t know what we would do if you were not around/the one to keep the ship afloat when it’s going down”) and then his little brother almost drowns, indirectly because Darry is in fact struggling and doesn’t know how to act

Can I request the Curtis siblings with a sister who is obsessed with her looks
Tumblr media
Summary: The Outsiders with a Curtis sibling who's obsessed with her looks Warnings: none Author's Note: none PONYBOY CURTIS He doesn't mind having a sister who is obsessed with her looks, as long as you don't get in his way when he's getting ready for school in the morning. He doesn't usually do a big routine before school but he hates being late so he prefers for you to stay in your corner and for him to stay in his. There's definitely a corner of the room that's totally dedicated to you and your makeup desk that your parents got you when you were just a little girl who liked to play with makeup. He's not ashamed of you as his sibling, especially since you always look super put together and well dressed. Sometimes you're even a ticket out of him getting cut up by some socs. Of course, being pretty makes you a very underestimated girl, sometimes Pony can forget that you can keep up with him while he's running and you get top marks. He remembers and then he just is so happy that he has some friendly competition. JOHNNY CADE He doesn't usually interact with you, Dally's got the idea that 'all girls are the same' nailed into his head. But he's friendly and open when you two talk. He's pleasantly suprised at how genuine and kind you are. He forgets that Dally's seen some rough things but also tends to exaggerate. So as his way of 'making up for it', he spends a lot of time hanging out with you. He did develope a little crush on you when he was younger, like WAYYY younger. But it was more of a "wow, it's a girl!!" kind of crush and it didn't amount to much. Currently, you two are rather close and when Pony's busy and he has nothing to do, you two will go out and just goof off and have fun together. SODAPOP CURTIS Unsuprisingly, Soda's pretty apperance-obsessed as well, he's like the 19--s version of men using hair masks as shampoo to get their hair shiny and smooth. Of course a lot of times those 'hair masks' are yours. You get along quite well despite the fact that sometimes he uses your stuff like he bought it. Which he probably did, he got it under the guise that it was for you but actually he bought it to test it. He likes to do face masks with you, it relaxes him and he genuinely likes taking care of his skin because he actually had some pretty bad acne in like middle school. You two get along realllly well, probably the best out of all your brothers because of this shared hobby. You do have to worry about some of your stuff going missing though. STEVE RANDLE On a scale of "How much Steve likes you," you're inbetween Pony and Soda. Pony being he's literally trying to blow that kid up with his mind and Soda he's frolicking with. He likes you because you're a Curtis, they're all cool and he likes you better than Pony because you don't give Darry and Soda heart attacks when things happen. You and him don't really interact much, only when he swings by the Curtis house. Sometimes he likes to look at your makeup and stuff but that's really all the interactions you've had. TWO BIT MATHEWS You and Two Bit are twins because you and his sister are twins. Like you two go out and have girls days because you're the only girl-siblings. He'll sometimes tag along because his mom makes him, so he'll buy you two ice-cream and stuff like that and maybe help you do his sister's makeup/face-paint. He genuinely really enjoys how you two get along, and tells you that when he gets really drunk. Because of that, you two have a strong bond. Sometimes he'll take you out some places without his sister, as friends. He's really grateful for your influence and he's also grateful that you're willing to spend time with him and his family. DARRY CURTIS
He secretly really likes the fact that you're well put together, because it shows that the gang isn't influencing you to become a 'bad person,' (for example, drink too much, let yourself go, like that stuff, not that Darry wouldn't love you if you were a tomboy LMAO) It also really reminds him of his mom, how she would spend a good amount of time putting herself together meticulously, sometimes even putting some blush on you and Darry when she caught you two watching for too long. Of course, its hard for him to afford your lifestyle, he's barely scraping by with two jobs and he always feels sooo bad for letting you down when you want to get something. He tries his hardest to make up for it with quality time, but you remind him that even though you really care about your looks, you care more for the family's security and that he doesn't need to 'make up' for the fact that you guys aren't broke because of a new foundation. DALLAS WINSTON To Dallas, you're just another girl. Doesn't matter if you're a Curtis, and/or part of the gang. He doesn't really care much about you, you're just another girl. He's definetly seen you in a 'I would date her' light, but quickly shut that down because a) Dallas is only into dating for one thing, and b) you're a curtis, and Darry would BEAT HIS ASSS. Sometimes you guys get along really well, especially when he's drunk and tired so he just lays on the couch and does nothing while you apply some fancy serum on his face. But other than that you don't talk much, he'll say hi if you see each other outside, but that's about it.

Darry Curtis hc because this day is shit and he's my comfort character
-Does that thing where he kind of dances/shimmies to music unconsciously. Steve made fun of him for it once, and ever since Darry’s tried to tone it down, but never really succeeds. (Steve never bugged him about it again because Sodapop got so mad at him for it)
-Doesn’t laugh often but when he does it’s the kind of laugh that’s completely contagious. Surprisingly Ponyboy’s sarcasm and Johnny’s dry quips end up making him laugh more than any of the rest of the gang’s bawdy or situational humour
-Makes the best scalloped potatoes known to man. Both Soda and Ponyboy practically beg him to make them for their birthdays or special occasions
-Ponyboy went with him to the gym once after windrixville when they were trying to find an activity to bond over and it ended with Ponyboy attempting to keep up with him and Darry having to practically carry him to the car. They decided Darry would teach Pony to drive as a bonding activity instead
-Was up for a promotion to foreman at his job that would have had a decent pay raise and didn’t tell Soda or Ponyboy about it. He made it to the final round of interviews but ultimately didn’t get it and was SUPER crushed. (Same Darry, same)
-His eye twitches when he’s pissed off but trying not to show it
-Sometimes when Ponyboy is out with friends or goes to bed early, Darry and Soda will have a mini conference where they discuss whether they think he’s doing ok because Darry is terrified of messing Pony up and needs the reassurance he’s doing a good job as guardian
-Taught Pony to shave and it was actually a really emotional time for him because their dad had taught both him and Soda how but wasn’t there to teach Ponyboy. It hurt even more because Ponyboy was so excited about the fact he finally HAD enough facial hair to need to shave and Darry was kind of punched in the chest remembering that Ponyboy is only fourteen, and that he’d had so much less time with their parents than he himself had.
-Doesn’t talk about the gang or his brothers at work. Not because he’s ashamed of being greasy or anything (a lot of guys on his work crew are east side guys) but because work is his only escape from being a leader/grown up and having to take care of everyone. In fact, he’s one of the youngest full time guys on the crew, and because of that he gets a lot of ‘shut up and listen to your elders’ kind of jokes from the guys in their thirties and forties, which he finds ironically funny on good days, and gets lowkey pissed off about on bad ones
-Has skipped meals when money is tight so that his brothers have enough food
-Didn’t regret fighting Paul at the rumble even though they’d been good friends in high school, because after the Curtis parents died Paul told him to let Pony and Soda go into care and to look out for himself and not ‘kids who aren’t your problem Darry’ and Darry never forgave him for it
-The gang and his brothers think he doesn’t have time for girls, and he doesn’t, not really, but he goes to the same diner during his lunch break each day to flirt with one of the waitresses there- a girl he went to high school with who was also meant for bigger things but got stuck in Tulsa just like him.     (listen I’m multiship trash who also has a soft spot for tarry but this idea lives rent free in my head ok)
-His way of dealing with issues when he’s unsure is to just ask himself what his dad would do and if he doesn’t know what his dad would do he panics
-Is TERRIFIED of the dentist and so its the only thing he’s kind of lax about with Pony and Soda because he refuses to be a hypocrite and not go when he makes them go, but also…he’s terrified

Head cannon taking place after Curtis parents death but before book events where Darry can feel the rift between him and Ponyboy start to widen and he reflects on how different their relationship was years ago:
It was a particularly bad day at school and Ponyboy, overwhelmed with schoolwork and exhaustion, finally breaks down. His backpack is splayed out on the floor and his legs fold beneath him, the cold tile on their kitchen floor the only thing still grounding him. His body is wracked with sobs, sobs that Darry only faintly hears through walls at night sometimes, before they’re soothed by their mama rushing in. But now they were loud and piercing and made Darry look up from his own schoolwork, concern etching its way into his heart.
As he opened the door, he could hear their mother trying to calm down Ponyboy but Pony’s sobs are so loud it seems like he can’t hear her. He’s crumpled up, hugging his knees to his chest, tears like a never-ending waterfall down his cheeks. Ever the expert in handling Ponyboy’s emotions, Sodapop is next on the scene, arms outstretched. Darry approaches his mother’s side cautiously, hoping she knew somewhat what was going on. He places his hand on her shoulder, a silent ask, but with the way her brow is creased Darry knows she is just as clueless as him.
Soda being so in tune with Pony’s emotions was something he secretly envied. Even at their young ages of 11 and 13, they were so in sync. Darry swears he can see them having silent conversations at the dinner table. It was something Darry longed to be a part of too, but tried to not let himself think about it for very long. Besides, he’s a senior now, he doesn’t need to hang out with smelly little brothers.
Darry watched with bated breath as Soda put on his most comforting smile and began talking in that soft voice he does only around Ponyboy. But as Sodapop tried to bring Pony into his arms, you would think that Ponyboy had been burnt by Soda’s touch with the way he flinched away from him. Ponyboy’s cries grew even louder, seeming to shake the whole house. Darry was sure their neighbors could hear the racket. Sodapop turned to Darry, hurt visible in his eyes.
Darry loves his littlest brother, of course he does. But it’s hard to bond with an eleven year old when you’re trying to get a full ride scholarship for football. Practice and honors classes take up time, time Darry doesn’t have as much of to spend with his little brothers. But that doesn’t mean he won’t fulfill his big brother duties when he needs to. He’ll happily look over Pony’s homework if he asks. Will walk his brothers home from school if their dad can’t pick them up after work. Those moments where he gets to be Soda and Pony’s big brother, Darry can’t help but feel his ego start to fluff up each time. He was their big brother, Superman, and there was a part of him that loved being needed like that.
After a third and failed attempt by Sodapop, Ponyboy’s tear-filled eyes began darting around the room. He pushed Soda away, prompting a light scolding from their mother before his cries drowned her out again.
“No! Darry! I just want Darry!” Ponyboy screamed at the top of his lungs.
For just a moment, Darry felt frozen in place. Ponyboy had long grown out of the phase where he followed his big brothers around. He still did it sometimes, Darry noticed, but Pony would swear up and down that he didn’t do that anymore and that he ain’t no kid. But now, with Ponyboy calling for him, all Darry can see his kid brother as that toddler again, crying out for Darry after Soda and Steve accidentally got too rough with him.
He wraps Ponyboy in his arms, crouching with him on the floor of their kitchen, hugging him from behind. Gently, Darry cards his fingers through his brother’s auburn hair, and whispers reassurances in his ear, just like his momma’s done all their lives.
“It’s okay, Pone. I gotcha little buddy, I’m right here,” he presses his chest up against Pony’s back to try to get his brother to match his breathing. He could feel his family’s surprised gaze falling down on them. He knows what they’re thinking. Usually it’s their mom or Sodapop who Ponyboy wants for comfort. Darry hasn’t had to calm his brother down like this since he was a toddler. He’s just as surprised as they are, if he’s being honest. But there’s a small part of him that couldn’t be happier his brother wanted him again. And perhaps that was a selfish thought, but as Ponyboy’s cries began to dwindle, Darry couldn’t stop that proud feeling that bloomed in his chest again at the thought that his kid brother still needed him.
But now, as Ponyboy made a b-line from the front door to his room everyday after school, barely speaking two words to Darry since their parents passed, Darry yearned for that feeling again. And sure, while he was needed so their family could stay together and have a roof over their heads, it was a different kind of need. One that turned Ponyboy against him every time Darry tried had to remind him about curfew, his grades, or to keep his feet planted on the ground. He could feel the distance between them growing everyday, and every day it left a sinking feeling in his chest. So many days Darry felt like they were standing on two sides of a canyon, the distance between them far too great to ever reach the other.
Ponyboy was fourteen now, and hell-bent on being independent. Thinking that he knows the world well enough to be independent. He could do his own homework now. Doesn’t need Darry to look over it anymore, hell, with the way Pony writes, Darry’s sure he won’t even be able to keep up in a year or two. Most days, Darry’s reminders are met with rolled eyes and attitude Darry is sure their dad would never have let slide. Truth was, his kid brother was growing up and in just four short years wasn’t gonna need Darry at all anymore. And that thought squeezed Darry’s heart a bit tighter as he tried to focus on the dinner he was making.
Darry silently looked down the hallway and stared at the closed door at the end of the hall. As he stared at the door, whose white paint had definitely seen better days, he wondered if Ponyboy remembered that day he called out just for Darry. If it meant as much to Pony as it did Darry. But the longer he stared, the longer he couldn’t fight the nagging, pulling, selfish feeling in his heart that wished Ponyboy would call out for him again. For his littlest brother to need him like that again.
sorry for the angst, may write this out more but the sun is coming up and i need to sleep :)

I can’t get the idea out of my head that the Curtis brothers all feel like "the outsider" of their core family. So please enjoy this quick drabble I wrote when I should be writing my next chapter whoops.
Pony, the youngest, and his brothers just want him to remain a kid for as long as possible. They constantly search for ways to protect him and keep him from having to grow up any faster than he already has. But that protection means whispered secrets and pretty lies that make Pony want to scream.
Sometimes, when he wakes up in the middle of the night and Soda isn’t there, he tiptoes down the hall to the threshold of the kitchen to listen to the terrified whispers of Darry and Soda as they pour out their fears under the quiet cloak of night. How can they afford to keep going? How can they pay off Pony’s hospital bills? How can they make sure he’s okay after everything life has dealt him? One day Pony hopes he’ll look back on these moments and see that these conversations were only out of love, but at fourteen, he feels like a burden, like there’s an ’otherness’ in him he can’t shake.
And when the morning comes and his brothers stand in the exact same spot and offer him bright smiles and kind eyes, his chest aches with a pain he doesn’t think he’ll ever escape.
Soda, who down to his looks has always been told he’s different. Different smile, different nose, different laugh, different temper. Some days he wonders if he was switched at birth, perhaps he might even believe it except for the fact that when he looks in the mirror his eyes are so clearly his mother’s that he tells himself that's enough.
Sometimes, when he watches Darry and Pony fight, Soda’s reminded of the things he’s thankful he didn’t inherit: like their father’s sharp tongue or their mother’s quick temper. It’s a lethal combination, especially when shared by two stubborn boys, and causes his brothers to have blowouts that Soda wonders how they can possibly recover from.
But then there are other days— eventually, not at first— when his brothers finally learn how to love one another again. Soda listens as they talk for hours about their favorite books, or the story Pony’s writing, or how his track season is going, or even Darry’s favorite football team. All things Soda’s never understood. And as he watches his brothers become closer it hits him; Darry and Pony no longer need him, not really. The thought sends a shock of fear coursing through his body, and as he watches Pony smile up at their brother there is a small part of him, a part that he’ll never admit to and always hate, that hopes they won’t ever stop fighting just so he’ll know they have to keep him around.
Darry, no longer just a brother but instead a not-quite-father figure. He sees Pony and Soda together, all the ways they’ve bonded from having to live under Darry’s regime. He listens as Soda soothes Pony’s fears after yet another nightmare of Darry sending Pony away, or the gentle words they whisper to each other when Darry’s temper gets the best of him for the umpteenth time and he takes it out on them.
He lies awake at night wishing he could simply be their older brother again. He would do anything to not have to yell at Pony about his grades or chew Soda out for coming home late without calling. But what can he do? He can’t stop, because stopping could lead to something worse: losing his brothers, and he’s lost so much already.
So instead he lets himself be the villain in their story, and when all the ways he’s wronged them leave him lying in his bed unable to sleep, he creeps down the hall and sits by their door, listening as they laugh about something only they can understand, and tries to remind himself what he’s doing it all for.

Okay so I just had an idea for a potential story, tell me what ya think ig-
So the Curtis’ are socs instead of greasers. They aren’t particularly stuck up but they don’t get how good they have it. Their parents die the same way they do in the book. Everything for the brothers change, they can’t afford their house of their privileges anymore so they have to move to the east side. The greasers aren’t fond of this and would probably poke fun at them. And the socs well.. they’d probably gang up and threaten them for being traitors or something- Then at some point the brothers meet Johnny, Dally, Steve, and Twobit ( not all at once, probably one or two at a time ) at first the gang doesn’t like them and they are cautious of them (( with the exception of Dallas, he just likes poking fun at them and isn’t afraid of them )). Then at some point they start to get along better with the gang and they start forming a bond. Idk I think this might be an okay story line.. 🤷‍♀️
Do you guys think this concept is good? I kinda wanna make a story or make some concept designs for it-

Can you do gang x reader (minus steve and probably pony and Johnny) where reader is Steve’s ridiculously protective older sister?
I feel like that would be funny, because Steve doesn’t really need protection, so it would be embarrassing at best and super annoying at worst
the gang x steve’s older sister! reader (request)
authors note: please send requests i love doing them!!

warnings: mentions of getting jumped, switchblades, steve being embarrassed of reader, slightly suggestive, cussing

SODAPOP CURTIS
soda and steve were at work when you drove into the small parking lot for the DX
opening the door and getting out of the car, you walked into the shop, where soda was at the register
you asked if you could get soda and some chips, and he thought you were beautiful, you complimented him on his eyes and he smiled at you, telling you your hair was the best he’s ever seen
“hey, is steve here?” you asked soda, and for a second he thought you were his girlfriend
he yelled for steve, and he came out of the back since he was on his lunch break, he groaned and walked to the front
“y/n? the hell are you doing here? aren’t you supposed to be at—“ you cut your brother off before he could continue
“mom and dad are pissed that you snuck out last night to hang out with your friends. don’t do that shit again though, i don’t want you to get in trouble or hurt.” you said, and there was a pause of silence
soda asked if the two of you were siblings, and steve asked how he didn’t know
you had to get back to work, so you gave soda a twenty dollar bill tip, saying goodbye with a smile
he smiled back at you and waved, then steve warningly said, “soda.” and he looked back at your brother, trying to look confused
he stared soda down but then walked to the back, him following steve
“why’d she have all that money? plus you never told me you had a sister! how old is she?” he kept asking steve multiple questions, making it hard to answer
“she’s really good at school. people have payed her to participate in whatever fucking event they’re holding, plus she’s got a good job. she’s 16, turning 17 soon, and you aren’t getting with her.”
“whyyyyy???!!” soda complained, and steve told him it’s embarrassing to have his best friend be dating his sister, plus it was already embarrassing to have you barge into the workplace and scold him
soda kept thinking about you, and one day decided to randomly go to steve’s house
he was originally gonna ask if he wanted to hang out with the gang, but was secretly hoping to have you open the door and talk to him
when he knocked on the door and you answered, wearing a tight white tank top with a pink bow, along with striped pink and white pajama shorts, his face went red
he smiled and chuckled, asking if steve was home
you said yes and motioned him to come into the house, so the two of you talked after you yelled at steve to come downstairs
when steve came down, you told him, “if you and soda are planning to go around town, take my car. don’t want you getting jumped by some random people. do you have that blade i gave you?”
soda admired how much you cared about your brother, and how funny and beautiful you were
he started to realize he liked you, but knew your brother would be pissed at him, but he kept talking and trying to pursue a relationship with him
one day, nearly a year into talking, he asked you if you could go on a date with him
he saved money for a restaurant, planning to go there with you
the two of you were talking about more emotional things, and bonded over some things you had going on in your heads
then he confessed to you, and you reciprocated the feelings
he decided he would ask your brother ‘for his blessing’ before dating you, and steve responded with a “are you kiddin’ me? my sister? what— god, fine. she talks about you nonstop anyway…”
the two of you started dating and you were both so happy about it
you started talking to soda about how steve is always telling you about funny things that happened at work
you’d purposely embarrass steve since the two of you were siblings, whenever he did something ‘big’ you would say “awww, my little brothers growing up!!” or “my little brothers acting so old now :(“ or randomly picking fights with him for no reason
soda understands since he’ll pick on pony sometimes too, just because they’re siblings though
you always make sure steve and the gang have weapons and protection before going into a rumble or simply walking on the streets
DARRY CURTIS
you were dropping off steve at the curtis house when you saw a tall brunette who was really fucking muscular
you walked your brother into the house, but stayed outside because you didn’t want to come in unannounced
before he went into the house, you asked him if he had his blade on and spare house keys
he groaned and rolled his eyes, mumbling yes and walking into the house
you drove back home and stayed there for a few hours since you had a day off of work
steve told you to pick him up around 8pm, so around 7:30, you got into your car and drove to the curtis house
when you opened the door and walked to the front door, the muscular guy opened up the door and invited you inside
you walked inside and thanked him, so you asked him who he was and what his relation was to steve, you were just trying to look out for your brother
“sodas brother. and you’re his..?” darry said, and you replied with “oh, i’m his sister. not surprised he hasn’t talked about me, don’t think he likes me embarrassing him in front of his friends.” you giggled
he smiled at you and asked you more about your life, where you worked and how old you were, if you had any other siblings besides steve, your interests, etc
he enjoyed hearing you talk about yourself, then you asked him about himself, and he felt a warm feeling
people didn’t care about him since they knew he could handle himself, so he was glad that someone cared
the two of you continued talking and steve and soda came down from sodas room, and you said “took you long enough. you alright?” to your brother
he nodded and continued talking to soda, so you gave darry your number, suggested that he should call you sometime, or you’d call him
the two of you would call each other when you had time, which was rare, then you started hanging out together, first in a group then one on one
he had a difficult time identifying what feelings he was feeling, he hadn’t felt something like how he felt about you in a long time
then he realized he liked you, so he started awkwardly flirting with you and complimenting you constantly
you loved the attention, especially from him, so you flirted back and even kissed him on the cheek once when leaving his house
the next day, after a long conversation, he asked you to be his girlfriend
you said yes, and the two of you talked about how it could be difficult sometimes to be the older sibling
your feelings were ignored and you were expected to take care of your younger siblings, and darry related too
the two of you would help each other out with your siblings, knowing it could be highly stressful at times
you’d even take care of each other, and soda told steve that darry told him that you’re the best partner ever, and he feels bad that you’re always so worried about steve
sometimes he would think you didn’t care about him, but after soda told him that, he started appreciating your presence more
DALLAS WINSTON
after you dropped steve at the curtis house, you heard there was a huge rumble between many greasers and socs
you drove back to the curtis house and knocked on the door
you heard an annoyed voice saying, “man, who the fuck is it??” in a new york type of accent
hearing loud stomps coming closer and closer to the door, you backed up
the door swung open and a tall guy with brunette-blonde hair was standing there, blood on his face
he looked at you up and down and said quietly, “shit, man, you steve’s sister?” and you nodded, asking him if he was okay and if steve was there
he said “yeah.. i’m fine, uh, your brothers here, i’ll call him… steve!! your sisters here, said you’re in trouble!!”
you smiled at the last part, and he made small talk with you
he told you about the big fight that had just happened, and you brought medical supplies
you told him he should get some help, that he’s bleeding out and he needs to stop the bleeding immediately
he said he was fine and asked what your name was, you told him and he said “dally.” introducing himself
you sighed and told him, “just… hang on, i have medical supplies in the trunk. i’ll go get it, you seem like you’re on the edge of death.” mumbling the last part
after you brought the supplies back, you gave the items to dally, knowing he wouldn’t let you patch him up
he looked up at you after he sat on the couch, “thanks”
he didn’t trust you enough to let you get super close to him, but already knew you were a good person with good intentions, so he gave you his number
steve came out of the bathroom and asked what you were doing here
“the fuck is wrong with you? you could’ve died, and don’t tell me you didn’t get hurt because i know you did.” you scolded
“what— jesus, sorry sis i didn’t know you cared so damn much. are we going home or what?” he stormed out of the front door
you sighed and had a sad look on your face, so you said bye to dally, you knew you had to go
he said bye and told you to call him later
the two of you talked a lot over the next one and a half years, which he liked you for most of the time you knew each other
he didn’t know if it was genuine love or someone he would just mess around with, he then realized he wanted to be in a long term relationship with you
then, after he got into another fight with a couple of socs, he went back to buck’s bar, which is where you were
since the two of you formed a very special bond, you were worried about him and said “dal, i know you probably don’t want me to but i need to patch you up, you don’t look like you’re in the best condition right now.”
he sat down on his bed while you wiped blood from his face and his chest, his face turning a bit red because of the vulnerability involved
he mumbled a quiet thank you, and you heard him, said a “you’re welcome”
it was in that moment that he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you
his eyes looked up at you with vulnerability and love, both of you knowing he’d never show that side of him to anyone else but you
he blurted out, “will you be my girlfriend?” and when he saw the look on your face, he almost regretted it
then you put your hands gently on his face and kissed him, saying yes
he wrapped his hands around your waist and pulled you onto his lap, but you sat next to him, not wanting him to get any more hurt than he already was
he really appreciated the way you cared for steve whenever he got hurt, but knew he might get annoyed if it was persistent
you’d always ask dally if he had the things he needed before going out on the streets, even though you knew he could handle himself
he always loved how you worried about him, and he would worry about you every day when he wasn’t with you
he felt the safest in your arms, in your presence, he knew you would always try your best to keep him safe and loved
TWO-BIT MATTHEWS
one day, steve asked you to drive him to the drive in, planning to watch another elvis movie
you said “jesus christ, steve, this has been like… the third elvis movie in the past five months, the fuck is going on?” and he laughed about it, you drove him to the drive in
when steve got out of the car and started screaming his friends names, in hopes of finding them, two-bit ran up behind him and screamed in his ear
steve yelled and the two of them started playfully hitting each other, and you smiled, knowing your brother found someone he could act like that with
then his friend looked over to see you, and started walking towards you while steve was trying to get him to stop
you looked at him, still in the car, and he introduced himself and said “you’re steve’s sister, right?” and you said yes, the two of you joked around
you found out he was really funny, and he found out you were funny too, your humor complimented each others in weird ways
he thought you were real pretty, but thought you wouldn’t go for a guy like him
but he won you over on the first day because of his humor and poor flirting
steve eventually walked away to go find his other friends, while you and two-bit were still talking, and you yelled after him, “stevie, don’t do some stupid shit! don’t wanna have to do lots of paperwork!”
when you gave him a nickname, he knew he had to ask you out
it was nearly a year after the two of you met in the drive in, and you, surprisingly enough, asked him to be your boyfriend
he said yes and joked about how steve was gonna be so pissed at both of you
you told him about times you wanted to confess to him, but either didn’t have the time, too nervous or steve didn’t want you to talk to his friends
the two of you kept laughing about things your younger siblings have done, like two-bits sister smearing nutella all over her face
and you got mad at your brother when you two were younger, so you printed out a photo of steve’s face and threw eggs at your house, hoping he’d get in trouble
sometimes two-bits sister would hang out with you two, and she’d always tease her brother about talking about you so damn much
she almost knew everything about you even though you hardly knew her
she loved you though and you were so happy about it
