i always bounced off the "she was a halla and he was a wolf 🥺" or "she's sooo mild and innocent and he's a hardened stoic morally grey immortal" version of solavellan, bc firstly that is generically heterosexual in a way that i find silly. and secondly the timeline is just. SO wild.

from lavellan's perspective they're like "hm this guy saved my life from the anchor! cool. a very knowledgeable and skilled mage. he's a bit annoying about the dalish but i do like our talks. we've been through some pretty scary life or death situations together. he seems kind of mysterious or depressed at times, i wonder what's going on there. but we have been flirting a bit... maybe i can go for 1 (one) kiss and see what happens 🤔"

this is very normal. this isn't notably "✨such a pure and gentle soul that has won the heart of the ancient bloody-handed trickster✨" behaviour, they're actually acting in a fairly regular way as someone who has a crush.

but by the point lavellan makes any move at all, from solas' perspective. he is already Dying Internally. he is Pining. when lavellan shoots their shot, he's already reached the level of "meeting you has changed my whole life and worldview, i don't know how to handle it," and presumably has restrained himself from saying anything to them only through pure stoicism and willpower. millennia of insurgency and political experience, all bent onto the task of Acting Normal Around Lavellan. he's halfway about to blurt out a love confession if they reciprocate the feelings at all.

his entire plan for however many eons was to NOT get overly attached to any single person and risk his trolley problem calculations and schemes for them, but within like 4-6 months of hanging out with this random, somewhat curious mortal, he's considering telling them everything and/or giving up the plan entirely. truly cringe fail.

Hey! You're in luck this is actually the very first book of the series!! it's an anthology of the first 4 books. i really recommend it, i found it pretty easy/pleasant to get through. majorly silly stuff happening here. esp at the end, not to spoil anything though.

Thanks anons! I think my response to her will only get stronger now I've watched that horrible video rather than just read reports.

I want to emphasise that I'm very much pro-judging people (looking at you quite a lot of the parliamentary labour party). What I hate about a lot of fandom judgement is about how selective is. It's about backwards justifying what you already feel.

My belief is that if you're in a fandom about white men, it's very important not to judge anyone else in their circle harder than you judge the white men at the centre. This means I don't come across as very judgemental in fandom - because my starting point is all the dumb things 1D members have said.

But what Zara McDermott said in that video is not in the 'Praising Thatcher, personification of the white moderate from the letter from Birmingham jail' zone. What she said was much, much worse.

My troupe is gonna do our Mardi Gras parade session this upcoming Tuesday!! This is my blorbo, Caius Lennox/local drag queen, Clover Clarke, prepping his performance, ready to be the Queen of Carnival. I've got a few surprises in store for everyone (even our Storyteller) so I'm super excited to get this rolling when it's showtime. I can't believe I've been playing him for almost 3 years now.

I had like 4 different ideas for his horrid t-shirt, but this was my favorite. (Others I didn't go with were: "Sluttiest Boy in the Morgue", "Fangboy Hooters", "C*nty Dracula" and "Toreador by blood, Bitch by choice." (Feel free to steal, but I take no responsibility for any Serious Talks with the Sheriff one may have about Masquerade breaches; wear at your own peril))

I'll post Clover's dress for the show soon too, there's a big outfit and several layers/reveals mapped out.

(I even have a narrated walkthrough of his lip synchs/choreo; am I too extra? Can you be too extra with a Toreador? Not this one, at least.)
